The perfect photographer for our wedding

Melissa was the perfect photographer for our wedding and engagement photos. We’re so happy our wedding planner, Tara, recommended her. As a mixed-race couple, it was important to the bride to have someone who knew how to photograph her, and who she felt comfortable with. We loved Melissa so much we did brand photo shoots with her too. On the day of the wedding, Melissa was with us each step of the way from hair and makeup to the end of the night. She captured meaningful moments, and coordinated with the San Diego Zoo Safari Park to get us up to the Old World Succulent Garden, the bride’s favorite spot. She really went the extra mile for us at the reception to take many different sets of photos with our family and friends. All our guests were very appreciative of her. The teaser photos are great! We can’t wait to see the full set from our wedding day when they’re edited. We highly recommend Melissa McClure Photography for your wedding or special event.

Melissa was amazing!!! We absolutely loved working with her! She photographed our San Diego wedding at the end of December. From our first conversation, my husband and I both felt so comfortable with her. She took the time to meet with us in person when we were visiting San Diego for wedding planning. On wedding day, she was very professional and brought lots of energy. We felt so comfortable shooting with her and she captured amazing shots!! She was a joy to work with!

Melissa McClure Photography was by far my favorite part of my wedding planning! Seeing her work online was love at first sight <3 The first time I contacted her through email and her prompt response to my questions made me feel so positive about her. She has an amazing personality and through out the session she made her work look effortless. I was lucky to experience her boudoir photography, her engagement sessions and so lucky to have her for our big day. I absolutely loved her spontaneity no matter the setting. Also, the fact that she would use her expertise to advise you on lovely poses especially when you are nervous and have so much on your head. She made sure photography was enjoyable and a unique experience. My husband is not very fond of photos but I knew I had scored with Melissa when seeing him absolutely enjoy the experience.

Not only did she listen to what I wanted but she was so accommodating in every session, she truly brings out the best in you. Melissa captured unforgettable moments that will remain alive through out the course of time. If I could give her a million stars I would in a heart beat.

HANDS DOWN. The best wedding photographer out there. Melissa is worth EVERY penny. Melissa has it together. I LOVE Melissa. From the first day we met, I had an instant connection with her, we chatted over our love for beer and red lipstick, and of course photography. Melissa made me feel so comfortable and I knew she was the one instantly. Day of the wedding she was the ringleader she got everyone on task and made sure that we were on time and getting s**t done. And we just had the best time hanging out with her all day. Now the pictures. Are you even kidding me.. STUNNING. So beautiful. She really captured my husband and I, and the absolute love and admiration we have for each other. And bonus she got adorable shots of our daughter, who is at the peak of toddler hood and is difficult to photograph. Thank you Melissa, you are going to be a part of our life from now on. We adore you!

To know Melissa is to be consistently impressed with just how engaging and professional she is. From the moment we met her to discuss our wedding plans, we were blown away with her grace and confidence. Any anxiety we may have had about our pending wedding day was washed away after getting to know her and learning about her wealth of experience; how organized she is and just how passionate she is about her craft. Communicating with her leading up the big day was a breeze and every step of the way we were reassured that we had the made the right choice to have her as our photographer. On the big day itself, we were left in awe of her work ethic and we both overwhelmingly agreed that our wedding would not have been as special, or such a success, without her. We will forever be appreciative of her and how she effortlessly organized, orchestrated, and contributed to the most important day in our lives. Melissa is AMAZING! She did our engagement shoot as well as our wedding photos, and there is literally not enough room for all the good things we want to say! Melissa makes you feel comfortable right off the bat, and provides easy directional cues for posed photos.. as well as beautifully capturing candid moments. She sees things in the environment around you for backgrounds and detail that always turn out perfectly! Her vibrant personality and contagious laugh make it easy to spend hours taking photos without feeling self conscious.. you feel like you're hanging out with a friend. Trusting her vision is the best decision we made for both the engagement shoot and the wedding, and we couldn't be happier with our beautiful photos and wonderfully (and epically!) captured memories!

We've booked Melissa for our April wedding and cannot wait! She took our Engagement Photos for us and did an amazing job! We were looking forward to sunset shots at the beach, but in typical San Diego fashion, June Gloom did not cooperate with us. Turns out, it didn't matter - Melissa brought her own brand of sunshine! She had us relaxed in a matter of moments, laughing the entire time, and we ended up with beautiful pictures. I can't say enough good things about her!

Melissa is great!!! Not only does she have amazing shots, but she's got a great attitude and professionalism too. Responsive, easy to communicate with, and a reliable vendor. We used her for our engagement shoot as well as our wedding, and couldn't be happier with her! Her photographs are beautiful and capture the special moments like few photographers can. Her work exudes the happiness and love of our wedding day. We couldn't be happier with her photography!

In addition to photography, she also was like a 2nd wedding coordinator. Because Melissa understood the entire flow of the day, she provided great advice, eased all my fears and answered all the questions I had. I cannot imagine going through the day without her. She's a super cool person with a great personality, which is important because you have to feel at ease in front of the camera. We'd highly recommend Melissa to anyone, and hope to use her again in the future!

Melissa was a perfect fit for us! She photographed our wedding, as well as our engagement photos. We could not be happier with the results!

Let's be clear, my fiancé and I are not models. In fact, despite being together for years, we had very few nice photos together…until now! Because of our lack of photographic history, we decided a great photographer was a top priority for our wedding. Enter Melissa.

Melissa is down to earth and professional. From the beginning of our engagement session, we felt comfortable in front of the camera. We even shot in a handful of public places (sidewalk, inside a record store, a popular beach at sunset), and ended up many great photos.

Our wedding photos are beautiful. Melissa and her team were great on our Big Day. They took many wonderful photos, but also didn't keep us from the festivities for too long.

We love Melissa! And you will too!

I wanted to do a bridal boudoir shoot for my husband's wedding gift, but I really didn't want the generic on a bed covered with my veil shoot. I also didn't want my male wedding photographer to do my boudoir shoot, so I needed outside help. I was referred to Melissa through my wedding coordinator, Day of LOVE, and it worked out great! I was able to do a boudoir shoot at a local brewery (my husband is a beer snob and home brewer) and it was perfect. Melissa was so much fun and made me feel super comfortable. When I got the pictures back, I was so pleased with the results. She has a great eye and got some really amazing shots - I didn't think I could look that good! I would totally use her again and have suggested her to several friends. Oh, and yes, my husband loved his gift ;)

I just received my Wedding Album from Melissa and it is amazing! My husband and I had Mandi as our photographer (who we absolutely love!) and were extremely lucky because Melissa came as her second photographer. Those two work so well together and made everything seem so easy. One of my worries for my wedding was how I would know when to do something or even how to (like cutting the cake) but it turns out I didn't need to worry about that cause Mandi and Melissa walked us through everything and all we had to worry about was enjoying ourselves. The best part of all was when we received our photos 7 weeks later and got to experience the entire day all over again. It was so hard to pick out our favorites because they all looked amazing. My MIL kept saying, it looked like they belonged in magazines. I will definitely be a returning costumer for capturing future life moments =)

Blame it on the gleeful rush of being newlyweds, but we honestly feel like we just threw the perfect wedding, and a very large part of that was thanks to Melissa, a photographer we confidently recommend. From day one, when we interviewed her at Starbucks, she was a comfort; in fact, she was the very first vendor we hired, and I knew immediately, we were on the right track. My decision to hire Melissa was one I never doubted. She is easy to talk to, quick to respond, a joy to be around, and unmistakably committed and dedicated to her job. Although the very serious conviction she has over what she does is unmistakable, her bubbly joy and the fun she takes in photography is not only contagious but seemed to be the perfect complement to our whole wedding philosophy! She was helpful with us picking a planner, understanding about unique family situations, great with travelling, punctual, considerate and thoughtful and delicate during intimate moments, fast with teasers, sweet with guests, and very sincerely loving towards my husband and I. Moreover, she was so impressively willing to help; she combed my bangs for me, helped me get in my second dress, helped keep us on schedule, never pushed or pulled us, and always had an eye out for my false lashes and running mascara. She even stayed late as a complimentary favor. I mean, how do you ever thank someone for that?? Quite honestly, it felt like hiring a friend, and that came through in the photographs. She made me feel fun and pretty, and that's not all that easy-- I am typically and severely non-photogenic, but that doesn't matter when with Melissa. She takes beautiful photographs; she maintains the honesty and purity of a moment, and amazingly captures exactly what matters most to you and makes it look just as amazing in print as it felt in person. Melissa McClure has been a great personal friend of mine for a very long time and I knew when I got engaged that I could trust no one else to capture that special time in our lives! Melissa and Mandy were absolutely fantastic! Like most brides and grooms, there are lots of nerves going on that day and Melissa had a way of making both of us feel as calm and relaxed as possible. She snapped all the photos I could have ever wanted and I really didn't feel like there was a camera in my face at any point at all. We recently got to see all of our photos and they are stunning! We feel very lucky to have had her as our photographer (and now our friend!). You will not be disappointed!!!

I showed my wedding planner a photo that I liked from a magazine and instantly she recommended "Melissa McClure Photography." I checked out Melissa's website/blog and I really fell in love with every photo! I love how each one of them draws you in to the couple's story. If there is anything to splurge on, photography should be it as these are photos that will capture and preserve the memories of your big day. Besides being a true professional and incredibly skilled at her work, Melissa is a sweetheart with a hint of fire! I have to admit that my hubby and I are awkward in front of cameras, but Melissa makes you feel at ease so that you become a natural at the end while having a blast! Mayr was the second shooter on our wedding day and both of them were wonderful! My family and the bridal party loved posing for them and seeing our heart-melting teaser photos. Words cannot describe how thankful my husband and I are to have had Melissa as our wedding photographer! We heard about Melissa and her company when we attended my friend's wedding back in July 2010. After looking at my friend's amazing wedding pictures in September 2010, I knew I HAD to contact Melissa immediately! A few weeks later, we met with her in San Diego and we knew we wanted to book her for our wedding in April 2012. Shortly after our meeting, we booked her for our wedding. Although we booked her so far in advance, we knew we had just booked the best photographer in the world. When we first met with her, she gave us that warm, compassionate feeling that we were looking for in a photographer. In fact, she was the first and ONLY photographer we met with! In March 2011, Melissa shot our engagement photos at the Montage Resort in Laguna Beach, CA. She was SO comfortable to work with! At first we were nervous to pose in front of her, but she made everything so easy and fun! That day felt like we were just hanging out with one of our good friends for the day...completely stress-free. :) Over a year later, it was time for the BIG day. When I got stressed out, Melissa was right there for me...even offering to calm me down at 2am, if necessary. She was a true God-send on the BIG day...keeping everyone to the timeline set for the day. To say that Melissa and her assistant, Michele, were wonderful on the most important day of my life is an understatement. They truly exceeded our expectations! Watching the slideshow of images Melissa made for us brought tears to my eyes because she truly captured all of the wonderful moments from our wedding day...from my husband's expression as I walked down the aisle to the wild excitement on my maid of honor's face as she caught my bouquet and everything in between. As I look through each photo Melissa sent us (in awe of her amazing work), I feel so thankful we chose her as our photographer. We will always be forever grateful for the wonderful moments she captured on our wedding day, for her gracious and professional demeanor, and for her friendship. :)

Melissa shot our destination wedding in Maui in November and I can not express how blessed I feel to have found the PERFECT photographer. She is so unbelievably talented and on top of all of that, she is so fun and sweet. We just loved spending the day and a follow up TTD shoot with her.

From the very first conversation that I had with Melissa, I knew she would be my photographer. She was so responsive to all of our questions...if I emailed her, I would get answers back to my questions almost immediately. I also reviewed her pictures on her website and fell in love with her style. Her ability to capture the 'moment' still amazes me...and when I look at the pictures she's taken, it puts such a huge smile on my face.

I will admit that being the picture fanatic that I am, I completely underestimated the importance of having a good photographer. IT wasn't until I saw Melissa's pictures of us from less than a month ago that I realized that she is worth her weight in gold and I really feel like we lucked out finding her. She is truly amazing.

Melissa is so sweet and absolutely excellent at photography! This was one of the areas I really wanted to focus on, as it is what you have left after all is said and done. I had searched and searched and was always drawn to her style of photography. Then, it turned out she shared a studio space with the coordinator I was looking into, so it just seemed to fit. I met with her and instantly knew I would be comfortable with her. I actually ended up making sure the wedding date I picked worked with her schedule before I put the deposit on the venue. We had our engagement photos about a year before the wedding and I am just in love with the photos! She made my husband feel so comfortable, and he is not one to enjoy getting his picture taken. I was worried he’d get bored and frustrated, but he actually really enjoyed it and was looking forward to the wedding pictures! I was so happy she was able to get real smiles out of him! I can’t tell you what a relief that was! She also found the perfect location for them.

As far as logistics and timelines…she gets teasers to you so quickly! Within a day or two something is posted to facebook and quite a number are emailed to you. It definitely satiates you so that she can spend the necessary time editing the rest! She gets the remaining pictures back to you remarkably fast for how many she takes!

She made our wedding day fun and easy. She and my coordinator worked out a schedule that allowed for plenty of time for pictures. Melissa has such an eye that I trusted every shot she took! She found wonderful places for all the pictures and her assistant was there to help every step of the way! They managed to keep the whole bridal party together for pictures in downtown San Diego. She was so fun the whole day. She really let us relax, which allowed her to capture us in a way that my husband and I are so pleased with. She even drove my husband and I to the ceremony site, can’t beat service like that! During the ceremony and reception, I didn’t even notice them. My guests said they were just amazed by Melissa and Michele! They were everywhere at the reception without getting in anyone’s way. My dad said he even saw one of them on the floor taking photos, that is taking your job seriously!! ☺ I just can’t say enough good things about her. The smallest things made such a difference, like teaching my husband how to hold my train. That made walking around for photos so much easier! And my husband just loved her little tricks to get good poses, he just loves “smelling my temple” ☺

Our wedding photos are better than I could have imagined them to be and I have no idea how I am going to decide which ones to enlarge! She is my photographer for life. Now, I’m just going to have to get her to fly out to Georgia for all the other major milestones in our lives ☺

Melissa did a fantastic job shooting our wedding! As I found out, you end up spending the majority of your wedding day with your photographer, so its essential that you like him or her! Melissa was the perfect choice- she made us feel comfortable, laugh and actually have fun taking pictures. She was willing to meet with me before the wedding and answered all emails quickly. Melissa's prices are slightly higher than other photographers I researched in San Diego, but her pictures show that she is definitely worth it (and her album prices are lower than many other SD photographers). We've only received teaser photos so far, but they are amazing photos and I can't wait to see the rest!

We had a destination wedding in San Diego in July, and hired Melissa McClure as our photographer. One of the best decisions we made in the whole process! Melissa is, to put it simply, amazing. Melissa was the first vendor we hired for our wedding. We did a ton of research looking for venues (all online) and every picture we found that we truly loved was one of Melissa’s. She is an incredibly talented artist and has an amazing eye for detail. The bonus is that she is an awesome person!

We hired Melissa from MA, and it turned out that she was vacationing in Boston a couple months later. We were able to meet up with her for an engagement shoot. Soon after, we received the CD and absolutely LOVE the photos! And so did everyone who saw them! Her work is stunning. Melissa has a knack for finding poses and settings that you just don’t see all that often. It was her first time in Boston, and she found so many beautiful spots that we have so often looked over! Suddenly, a simple arch or doorway became a gorgeous spot, with the light shining perfectly!

Melissa’s work speaks for itself. Look at her website or just Google her. Unbelievably talented woman. What you won’t find online, however, is how awesome a person she is. We had so much fun hanging out with her in Boston and on our wedding day and are thrilled she was able to be a part of it. She is a very calming influence and was able to get our pictures done SO fast that we were able to join our guests at Cocktail Hour. She’s the best, and even got us some teaser photos less than 12 hours after our wedding ended! When we showed the teasers to family the next day, at the turn of each picture an aunt declared “that could be on a brochure!” about every photo! And she is right, every single photo Melissa takes is breathtaking.

When it came to planning our wedding, my only request was to have an amazing photographer on our wedding day that didn't only take those "posed stand here and smile" photos. We wanted someone to be able to capture those special candid and natural moments for us.

At first, we were going to have a large wedding in our hometown and then decided that what we really wanted was a small and intimate destination wedding. I began lurking around the PW forums for wedding photography in the Bahamas and eventually stumbled upon a PW bride's bio, screen name Tovaqt, who had a destination wedding in Hawaii. Her wedding and trash the dress photos were to die for!!!!

Her and I talked on the phone at length and she recommended Melissa McClure to me. I was hesitant at first because she resides in CA and we were in NY. I was expecting her price quote to be astronomical because of traveling costs to the Bahamas. I contacted Melissa via email and she was instantly so sweet and wanted to help us. She quoted us less than what a local photographer would have charged for a hometown wedding...and this price quote included the cost for Melissa AND her assistant Mandi to travel on a cruise ship to the Bahamas with me and our immediate families/friends, shoot the entire wedding day and included a bonus trash the dress photo session!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I thought I was dreaming...

Needless to say, we booked her! The first time we actually met in person, we thought she was the sweetest person. She gave us a big hug and we instantly felt so comfortable with her. My whole family loved her and her assistant Mandi. This made us feel so comfortable during our trash the dress shoot and the day of our wedding.
What an amazing time!

She had "teaser" photos of our wedding right away and a beautiful slideshow just a few weeks later. We will be getting the rest of our photos very soon but we are in love with the work she has done, just by looking at the photos we have so far! She is extremely talented. Everyone who has looked at our pictures has asked "Who was your photographer?". We are so happy that we had her as our photographer and we will be recommending her to every bride we meet :)

Mandi photographed our wedding on September 18th and she was so great to work with! The photos that we've gotten back so far are amazing. She was really good at making sure we stuck to our timeline, and she was willing to help us with everything! She even delivered our final payment to the DJ so we wouldn't have to worry about it right before the ceremony. She was one of the most affordable photographers that we found. I would definitely recommend her!!

As with many new brides, photography was one of the single most important aspects of planning our wedding. Pictures... they last a lifetime. These images are what we will be looking back on for all our lives. It's quite a daunting task- picking your wedding photographer. So I approached the task very seriously. I also knew I wanted a photo journalistic style with attention to detail and someone that I really felt comfortable with (a thing that often gets overlooked when selecting vendors). I spent months looking at photographers blogs & websites. When I found Melissa McClure, I stopped dead in my tracks. She had exactly what I was looking for! I contacted her immediately. She responded immediately.

Was it too good to be true? Did I just find an infinitely talented wedding photographer, that was great at communicating, on top of her game, willing to travel to photograph our destination wedding in Maui, and very reasonably priced?? I was wary but my gut told me to go for it. So we signed on the dotted line.

Since we lived in different states, we didn't get to actually meet her until we all arrived on island. So during the planning process, communication was key. Any and every question I had for her was answered very quickly and in full. I also felt like I got a good sense of her personality (which rocks!) during this time. Once we did finally get to meet, we were immediately at ease with her. She is such a fun, personable woman! I can't begin to sing her praises enough.

We all decided that it was best to to photograph our trash the dress photo secession before the wedding (I had a separate dress for this). That way we would all get used to working together before the wedding. Fantastic idea!! Her ideas, location scouting, and eye blew me away. And on top of that, we had a blast! I can say without a doubt, our TTD photos are jaw dropping and captured "us" in a most unique yet true way. And this just set the stage for our big day.

Then came the wedding. Never for a second did I worry about Melissa. She was where she said she would be and immediately went to work. Melissa has so much experience and such an artistic eye- I loved just watching what she came up with! Not only that, but she took the time to make sure everyone felt comfortable yet was never intrusive. Weddings can be stressful but Melissa is so at ease and takes everything in stride, that it's impossible for it not to rub off on anyone else. Guests and other vendors adored her!! She even helped with my veil, timing, guests... she did it all! Our day was perfect and having Melissa as part of it made it even more special.

Then came time to see the pictures. I've heard horror stories where newlyweds have wait for months to receive their professional photos. Not with Melissa. She sent us a few teasers almost immediately, then blogged us within a week or two, and we had all of our wedding photos in-hand in less than 2 months (and that was during busy wedding season!).

Our wedding was beautiful, magical, and one of the most special days of our lives. Melissa somehow captured every special moment, every detail, everything in such a way that each time I look at them- it brings everything rushing back. The way she uses light, the angles, the perspective- makes Melissa's photographs really stand above and beyond. What she does is really special. And what she provided us, is going to make us smile for a lifetime.

Melissa did a flawless job on our engagement photos. I am VERY picky with photo styles, and trusted Melissa to do her thing. Great decision. Hire this woman! She does the most amazing work, perfectly captures the mood of the event, and is a ton of fun. Her relaxed--yet professional, organized, and diligent--attitude helped my husband and I relax and enjoy our wedding. We had a lot of fun with Melissa during our pre-ceremony photos that we couldn't believe one hour had passed. And, the result were amazing photos that captured each of our personalities. Her assistant, Mandi, is just as wonderful and served as a great addition to the team. Melissa had photos for us to look at the morning after our wedding so we had something to see, and share, before we headed out for our 2 week honeymoon. Her prices were incredibly reasonable and she doesn't lock you into packages that you wouldn't want to buy any way. I hold Melissa and her work in the highest regard and would recommend her for any photo shoot.

Melissa is absolutely amazing. She helped the whole wedding day to run smoothly. Melissa made sure I was taken care of. She is so friendly, easygoing, and professional. You can tell she loves what she does. For the first time in my life I felt comfortable in front of a camera. I have a huge grin on my face every time I look at my pictures. We were so lucky to have Melissa as our photographer. She took beautiful shots of our wedding and captured more than we could have asked for. Her style really captures the emotion at that moment in time and we absolutely love all of our photos. She is such a talented photographer! Not only can we rave about her skills, but we also loved how professional, prompt, and helpful she was before, during, and after the wedding. At the wedding, not only did she act as photographer, she helped me pin my second veil in my hair, bustled my dress, got me drinks, and made sure that I was taken care of as the bride. She is always quick to respond to any questions I have and the turnaround time for our photos was surprisingly fast. She had teasers for us the next day and delivered our photos to us a month after the wedding. We cannot recommend her services enough to anyone looking for a talented, professional, experienced, and sweet photographer. Melissa (and her assistant Mandi) rocks!

Melissa is the best photographer EVER! Controlling cost was a major issue for my husband and I, so we decided to do a smaller and "local" yet "destination" wedding in Las Vegas last minute instead of a bigger wedding in San Diego. The only thing we agreed on keeping was Melissa McClure and didn't care about the cost to keep her! Melissa was professional, courteous, flexible, fun, and unbelievably talented. I am completely amazed and super excited about the photos she took and can't wait for the album. She went from just a photographer to a wonderful friend. Words cannot express the gratitude and awe I feel over her work. She truly is amazing and her work will touch your heart. I would think you were an idiot if you didn't hire her for any type of photo shoot!
