    Perfect garden wedding venue!

    McGovern was the perfect place for our garden wedding! The Celebration Garden and Flores Pavilion were both so beautiful and really wowed our guests. Sunset picture in front of the mound and in the garden were so perfect!

    Beautiful and Weather can be a Factor

    Beautiful outdoor venue, the staff is excellent to work with.
    Weather can be a concern but tenting is always an option.
    The Bridal room is very small.
    The inside space can be tough to decorate, if budget is not a concern, no problem.
    Our evening the weather was fabulous so everyone was outside and the fountains were amazing.
    The event rental feel goes back into the Park.

    Beautiful views!

    We just had our wedding reception at the Cherie Flores Garden Pavilion and it was amazing. Gretchen and Elizabeth were great to work with. They made us feel welcome and were available to answer any questions we had leading up to our day. The space was a blank canvas and we were able to decorate as we pleased. As clients we were able to take our engagement photos at the gardens and our couples portraits the day off. The views are amazing and our guests enjoyed our reception. I would definitely recommend having an event here.

    Perfect Venue for Newbies to the Houston Area

    We are originally from the Indiana area, new to Houston Texas. We decided to have our wedding here in Texas and wouldn't change that decision for anything. The Venue is a huge garden, the staff is so accommodating and the location is perfect

    Wonderful park

    I loved having our wedding here! The grounds are lovely. The celebration gardens where kept quiet and private for my event! Generally great park to go to.

    Amazing Experience

    I made the best decision in booking McGovern Centennial Gardens as my wedding venue. The staff made my big day run smoothly. They were quick to respond throughout the process. We had an outdoor wedding and it was just as I expected (even better)!

    Lavada helped us put together a wedding in a flash! We booked an express wedding in September for a ceremony in December and it was absolutely amazing!! It was everything I wanted. Small but still extremely beautiful. All I had to do was rent some chairs and get a DJ to play some music for us to walk down the aisle to. Everyone was so professional and so helpful. You can tell they love their facility and they do a great job of making sure people stay away from the Celebration Garden during your time. Lavada was even so kind to respond to an insane panicked text I sent in the middle of the night because it was supposed to rain on my wedding day and I had no idea what to do. She calmed me down immediately and made sure we would be taken care of. I'm so happy with how our wedding day turned out. Thank you everyone at Hermann Park!

    This has been by far one of my favorite venues, Linda Black is such an amazing person to deal with, and kindly guided me through the whole process. The experience has been great, will do it all over again.

    My husband and I had looked all over Houston for a wedding/reception venue that was unique and matched our personality. We had booked with a hotel, but we simply felt this wasn't us. We happened upon The Centennial Gardens when I was shooting engagement pictures for two clients of mine. I told my husband that we should meet with someone from the venue and get more information on everything. We were able to make an appointment with Linda Black almost immediately and we fell in love with her and the venue. We decided to book our wedding here instantly. Linda was so down to earth and flexible with our needs. She was extremely knowledgeable about vendors and willing to work with us and family members on everything we needed for our big day. The night of our wedding was incredible and we got compliments all night about what an amazing venue it was and how smoothly everything went. I cannot IMAGINE getting married anywhere else or having anyone else help us with our big day. Thank you McGovern Centennial Gardens and Linda Black for making it the perfect day!!!!

    My husband and I wanted an intimate service for our wedding. The McGovern Centennial Gardens provided a beautiful backdrop to our very special day. We enjoyed the venue and the coordinator so much that we plan to have our bigger ceremony at McGovern Centennial Gardens in 2016.

    We had a form of a pop-up wedding at Celebration Garden in McGovern Centennial Gardens in Hermann Park. We were able to book an hour wedding (this did include set-up and breakdown time of chairs and any decor). You are allowed a maximum of 35 guests for the 1 hour weddings. They were fairly responsive to my questions and always responded in a matter of a day or two. We really enjoyed the woman that was assigned to oversee our ceremony, and while we did not end up needing the full hour for everything as we only had chairs brought in and nothing else, I could see how this could be pushing it time-wise if you bring in other decor. They were inflexible on this timeframe, even if there are no other ceremonies or anything booked before or after yours, but you get what you pay for. The value is absolutely there if you're interested in just a small, quick wedding that isn't at the JP's office. We really enjoyed getting married here, and everyone said how beautiful the ceremony was. The only other downside is the garden is in full-sun so if you are getting married during the hot summer months like we did, there will be no shade and its pretty stagnant because of the way the gardens are set up with shrubs on all four sides. We would not have gone back and done anything differently though, everything went as great as we could've hoped for. Thank you again McGovern Centennial Gardens!

    The moment I saw the gardens I wanted to be married here. I thought the Express Wedding package for a ceremony only was perfect for $500, however, they do not allow more than 30 guests for this type of package and recommended I rent the space for 4 hours at a minimum of $2,000. Our ceremony is only 20 minutes long - this was a huge disappointment but very beautiful venue and professional team.

    Nightmare of a wedding venue experience

    We wanted to love our wedding experience at McGovern but unfortunately, it was one nightmare after the other. TLDR: do not get married here - they do not follow through on what they promise and it's difficult to get ahold of staff.

    When we first toured the venue, we were promised a room to get ready and also the pavilion as a backup plan, since we wanted to get married in the Celebration Garden. We were super excited and we put down the deposit a year in advance. A month before our wedding, we check in and find out that our venue manager no longer worked there and what was promised was being walked back on. That left us with no rain plan at all (with storms in the forecast) and struggling to find an approved tent vendor. The only alternative they gave us (and this was only after repeated callbacks, texts and emails to no avail and no available tent vendors in all of Houston) was that we could now rent the pavilion at its full cost. They knew they had us in a tight position as there was no way we could move venues so close to the wedding. After back and forth again, they said we could only use the venue (at a fee still) if there was rain. If there was no rain, we still couldn't use it but we would still have to pay for it regardless. If this was initially advertised to us, that would be fine, but it wasn't and was clearly a cash grab given our situation.

    On the actual day of the wedding, we also had issues. We were promised reserved parking but we saw that random public visitors were parking in our lots and my dad had to go out and ask them to leave. McGovern employees were nowhere to be found. We also had people going past the blocked off areas and into our photos. Again, the security we booked was not present. They nickel and dime for everything and everything had to be through approved vendors who verbally told us McGovern took a large cut, so vendors need to raise their prices a lot higher as well. It was a nightmare and we were so glad when we moved on to our reception venue. Please avoid at all costs.

    I had a terrible experience with the staff here. They told me everything I wanted to hear to get me to sign the contract and hand over the deposit. Once I was locked in things started to change quickly. They changed what they said about the start and end times, although we had reserved all spaces we were DENIED access to the inside space even for a spot for my grandmother to sit in the air conditioning before the wedding. Overall it was a horrible experience and be warned the people who work here are liars and will say one thing to get you in the door and change everything once you are locked in. They are also very disorganized and hard to contact- less than a week before my wedding they didn't know who we were or when our wedding was taking place.
