DJ Mattrix kept the party going all night! My sole goal was to never have an empty dancefloor and DJ Mattrix far surpassed that goal! We are so thrilled that we found DJ Mattrix and that he was available for our wedding day. He was so fun and easy to work with and knew exactly what we wanted. Everything was seamless and I would definitely recommend any bride to consider DJ Mattrix if you want to party at your wedding! We also hired the photobooth and it was a big hit and everyone enjoyed taking pictures. It was easy to use and all of our guests enjoyed this as a keepsake. We are so glad we hired DJ Mattrix and Entertainment! -

Had a 120 person wedding April 30, 2022 and had a blast thanks to DJ Mattrix! He knew how to read the crowd and move on from a song if it wasn't clicking for people, but also how to keep hyping up the crowd if they were vibing - the whole wedding ceremony and reception went smoothly from a sound perspective, everything we asked for, DJ Mattrix delivered! Would recommend. -

My husband and I are so glad we hired Mattrix Music for our wedding! MattJ was easy to work with and made the process smooth from start to finish. DJ Dutchess was absolutely amazing!! She understood our vibe and really created a fun atmosphere for our guests. We had a great time thanks to her ability to read the room and play music that got our guests on the dance floor. Hands down one of the best celebrations we've had. We can't wait to work with them when we host parties in the future. Also not to mention it's a black-owned business, which is very important to us. Best dj ever!
Matt is not only an excellent DJ, but he is also an amazing person. From the beginning, Matt was helpful, responsive and entertaining. He put so much effort and pride into our wedding as if it was his own. He cares about the music and the marriage. He was happy to answer any of our questions and answered quickly. Our cocktail hour performer was unable to make it and Matt immediately stepped up and put our worries at ease. He is kind, personable and I could think of no better entertainer than him. I will recommend Matt to ANYONE planning a wedding or frankly, any event. Thank you so much, Matt! -

Matt was very flexible and responsive in setting up the contract, answering questions, and letting us know if we needed to update our music choices. The one major issue was that one of the microphones stopped working during the ceremony (I think due to low battery) which made for an awkward minute or two as we tried to figure out what was going on but he didn't come forward to give us a new microphone. No wedding goes off without a hitch but it seems like that issue was avoidable. -

Matt neglected to add us to his calendar, so 4 weeks out I still hadn't heard from him. I should have cancelled then. He was late, missed the most important cue (recessional music), which I told him was important to get right. There was microphone feedback while I walked down the aisle and the first song he played during the reception was a disney song for some reason, when we told him the type of music to play. I said no rap- that doesn't mean play disney. He also harassed us all night until we payed the balance, which was our fault for not paying (we forgot). But he said goodbye in person, and didn't mention it. Then called at least 10 times until we answered ON.OUR.WEDDING.NIGHT. He was so unprofessional and I strongly encourage brides to find someone else. -

I'm writing this review in response to the DJs response of my husband's review, which was basically a blame game of everyone else involved in the wedding.
I can confirm and have receipts that this DJ did NOT respond to "over 20 messages back and forth" via email or text. In fact, after weeks of unanswered correspondence, we had to secure a back up DJ and get outside assistance in trying to contact him. When we finally got a phone call scheduled (2 days before the wedding, the first time we actually got to speak to the DJ), he didn't answer! We continued to call for 90 minutes with no response until he finally picked up - blame it on a delayed flight, but if that was the case could you not let us know prior?
He then goes on to blame our day of coordinator for him arriving late, despite me having to spend the hour before my wedding trying to contact him (with no response) until he showed. He did not check in with our coordinator despite me specifically asking him to, causing her to be confused as well (she was setting up the whole space and decorations).
He then goes on to say that we had more cues than a typical wedding, with is another bogus claim. We had 4 songs as part of our ceremony. 4! We cut the music before we even reached the altar - definitely not included in our very specific timeline we provided him.
We asked for a specific disco/house segment, and that was never played. To claim it was and that the grooms were not dancing the entire time caused him to do whatever he wanted, is just BS. It was our wedding! We had a few other things we had to do as well (i.e. cutting the pie, taking pictures, mingling, etc.).
In terms of guest reactions, there were many guests complaining to me throughout the night. One stated the DJ was mentioning "Mr. & Mrs." or "Bride and Groom" despite this being a same sex wedding. On top of that, in our detailed timeline we mentioned we were not providing cake, but pie. The DJ continually mentioned the "wedding cake" despite our guests yelling "Pie!" Truly out of touch - were we not at the same wedding?
All in all, this vendor only added stress to the already stressful wedding week and was our only vendor to do so. We had to take precautions to secure a backup DJ because we simply didn't know if they would show up on the day of the event.
His response to my husband only further solidifies that this vendor does not take responsibility for any of these errors and only looks to blame others for his shortcomings. I caution any couples to be prepared when working with this DJ. Affordable? Yes. Reliable? I think not. -

Javier Sent on 11/21/2022A Non-Responsive DJ Who Ignores Wedding Couples Requests
We were excited to hire Matrrix as our DJ entertainment for our wedding because of his experience mixing his own music, specifically the house mixes available on their website. This vendor, however, was easily the worst vendor we contracted. Not only did he not respond to emails or texts (despite his claim we had over 20 messages back and forth - I can provide receipts of unanswered emails and texts) but he showed up late to our wedding - causing my husband to scramble to reach him unsuccessfully less than 30 minutes before the doors opened, and did not even check-in with our day-of-coordinator. To claim she didn't see him right behind her is BS, as he was instructed to check-in upon arrival and arriving late should have at least done that. And yet here he is blaming her for his shortcomings, when our day of coordinator was the absolutely best vendor we worked with.
During the wedding itself, the DJ faded music too early (which caused numerous awkward moments) and even stopped the processional to announce the wedding was starting - he claims we had more requests than normal, when we only had 4 songs as part of our ceremony. He faded the music before we even reached the altar, which was NOT part of our timeline.
We provided a list of music to include in our evening, with an emphasis on having a disco hour followed by some house music - all which the DJ agreed to a few days before our wedding.
On the day of, however, the DJ seemed to think this request from us was nothing more than a suggestion as he played genres we did not include on our music list and even took requests from our guests! We never heard a disco/house set because if we did, we would have been on the dance floor. But because the music was not what was requested, the grooms didn't dance much at all. To then say we didn't dance so he did what he wanted was another BS claim - it was our wedding! We had a few other things we had to do throughout the night also.
Let's also add the incorrect statements made by the DJ throughout the night - instead of cake we were serving pie, which the DJ was aware of, yet he continued to announce the "cutting of the cake" despite our guests yelling to correct him. At one point in the evening, we had several guests comment on how the DJ stated "Mr. & Mrs." despite this being a same-sex wedding. This DJ was all over the place, and his response just goes to show how he doesn't take any responsibility for not providing the services we hired him for.
I would never recommend this DJ service to anyone looking to have a fun event full of music they requested - as this DJ seems to do whatever he wants on the day of with no regard to professionalism - and good luck getting in touch with him. He claims we had one phone call that he was late for, but he doesn't tell you that was the ONLY time we were able to speak to him before the wedding and scheduling that was like pulling teeth - if you know your flight is going to be delayed, wouldn't you reach out to your clients to let them know? Nothing but stress leading up to the wedding and it ended up being not at all what we had requested or paid for. I hope future couples can see through his BS responses and look elsewhere for your DJ services. -

I was hoping to have a great experience especially based on the raving reviews. Unfortunately, that was not the case. I was extremely disappointed with the service we received. We signed a contract with Mattrix Music in 2022 for our 2023 wedding. Matt agreed that they could provide setups in three different rooms for our venue (cocktail, reception dinner, and reception dancing). We didn’t have to communicate much until closer to our wedding date. He sent us a form to complete with the songs we wanted to play at our wedding. We sent this information and didn’t hear back until the week of the wedding. There was no communication until our wedding coordinator reached out by email.
I followed up with Matt from the email she forwarded to me and he said he would give me a call on a certain date. He never called. We had to follow up again for a call. When we spoke to him, he acted as if he had no idea what we spoke about or what contract he gave us in 2022. He also stated that we never talked about the three-room setup however, I have emails proving that we did. He then informed us that he needed to do a walkthrough the Thursday before our wedding. We thought he would’ve done this prior to the week of as he stated that he has worked at this venue many times before.
Also, he never informed us that another DJ from the company would be performing at our event. We were under the impression that Matt would be the one to DJ our event because he never provided a DJ selection list. He informed us that another DJ would be playing at our event the WEEK OF our wedding.
The DJ who did arrive and performed at the wedding was very bad. Her timing with all of the reception dinner music was horrible and she played music off of her phone during the reception dinner. My wedding coordinator had to MC the entire night. It was awful. She played songs too long and the transitions were nonexistent. She played very few of our selected songs and the songs she did play were not the requested edited versions. I honestly could've bought my Numark and played music if I knew this was the service we were going to receive.
It feels as though the company did less than the bare minimum when it came to the multiroom DJ equipment setup that was contractually agreed upon. Our wedding coordinator physically moved speakers from one room to the next. The microphone during the reception dinner did not work properly and seemed as if it was not tested beforehand. The microphone continuously cut out during the speeches.
I would recommend looking elsewhere for a DJ as it felt like he didn't care about us and severely lacked communication in a timely manner.
