Proposal photoshoot
I reached out to Matt and Ruth for a secret surprise proposal photo shoot with my then girlfriend and now fiancé. He is really good at being an incognito professional photographer and made us feel super comfortable. We had a photo shoot after the proposal and the pictures, angles, and scenes were amazing. They were so warm hearted and honestly, the communication with them prior to the proposal and during the photoshoot was everything. They exceeded our expectations and we highly, highly recommend them. -

Matt and his wife were absolutely amazing on our wedding day. We knew them from my sisters’ wedding and we just knew they were going to be our number 1 pick for photographers. They go above and beyond and even brought props to make our wedding photos personable, i.e. a soccer ball since my husband and I both love soccer. Matt does not make you feel awkward at all if you aren’t used to having your picture professionally done and makes the whole experience easy and fun. You can’t go wrong with Matt and his wife. Having a team is better than just one photographer, you get the best candid photos everywhere! -

Matt & Ruth were absolutely amazing! They made the entire day so easy and fun while still capturing our wedding day beautifully. Amazing photos capture amazing memories
My wedding pictures turned out amazing. Matt and his team captured our personalities and magnified the pure joy of our special day. Getting all the traditional pictures as well as the creative candids lets us relive the day over and over, as well as see things we may have missed.

Very pleased
Matt and Ruth were absolutely fantastic! They made everything so easy and comfortable. We really didn't have a specific vision for photos but they figured it out. Our engagement session and wedding photos were out of this world. One of our biggest requests was to have pictures of our fur baby at our big day, and they got some awesome shots of him that everyone still raves about. We have so many memories captured from our perfect day to look back on and enjoy! Thank you again!!! -

Simply superb.
From the first photo to the last (and more than 800 in between) Matt and his wife/assistant Ruth were everything we wanted/hoped for in a wedding photographer. Having previously worked with them for our engagement photos made us even more at ease and comfortable. Not sure about you, but I’ve never had so many pictures taken of me; a model I am not, however Matt & Ruth made us feel like stars! -

Matt was recommended to us by our venue and we are SO glad they did! We had our initial zoom meeting with Matt about 18 months before our wedding and from that first interaction we could feel his commitment to our wedding photos. Over the course of planning he was very communicative, responded promptly to all my questions, and constantly put me at bridal ease. On the day of our wedding, Matt & Ruth completely blew us away from the moment we arrived at the venue. They were never pushy or intrusive but became part of the celebration.
We received our photos promptly after our wedding and I was left speechless, viewing hundreds of photos over and over again. Every photo captured was more that I could have dreamt them to be. I will recommend Matt & Ruth to anybody getting married in the capital region as my experience with them was incredible and our photos will give us a lifetime of memories. Thank you for being part of our day! -

Amazing, we made the right decision hiring them for our engagement shoot/wedding!
My husband and I could not be more happy that we hired Matt and Ruth to be our wedding photographers! We had a big bridal party and they helped the group photos go by smoothly and quickly so we could get to our reception. We felt so comfortable and they helped keep us calm in all the chaos that comes along with the day. They are so responsive and easy to work with, I highly recommend choosing them for any special occasion you have! -

We totally hit the jackpot scoring Matt and Ruth as our photographers for all things wedding. We started with an in person get to know you meeting to discuss his shooting style, what we should expect and the type of investment we would make, after that meeting, we knew we needed to have Matt as our photographer. We had an amazing engagement photoshoot (part 1) in August 2019 in Downtown Saratoga in front of all these cool spots all up and down Broadway. We totally loved this experience and pictures and although felt awkward at first, started getting comfortable with the idea of being the main event and taking super cool photos out and about in public. Ethan and I met on our college track team and we had this idea that we really wanted some photos of us running together. Matt took this idea and ran with it (haha) and met us at the local high school track for engagement photos part 2. These photos are also great and make me smile every time I see them! Next, we hosted a very small (25- guest) wedding ceremony at The Appel Inn in July 2020 (our original wedding date) and we soooo relieved that Matt and Ruth were able to be there and capture the memories of Ethan and I getting married for real. These photos are absolutely stunning! We love looking back at these ceremony photos and our posed photos from after the ceremony and see everyone who was there for our special day (part 1 again). Finally after almost 3 full years of having Matt and Ruth hired as our photographers, we got to have them for our full wedding day, starting from getting ready all the way to our sparkler exit! We recently got the photos back and I cannot emphasize enough how perfect they are at showing the entire day as it happened. We sat on our couch with some wine, played the 700+ photo slide show and got to relive our entire wedding day with these photos. Matt and Ruth are such a fun team to work with, they love to mess around, will take any of your ideas and make them work and they like to make sure they do some fun and different poses instead of the basic stuff you typically see. I would be so happy if we could hire them again and again because they are so so worth it! -

Absolutely Phenomenal!
Matt and Ruth are truly amazing. They did my (now) husband and I's engagement and wedding pictures, and I can honestly say the whole experience with them was perfect. They make the atmosphere fun, comfortable, and relaxed - and the pictures are simply phenomenal. They were also super flexible and were able to accommodate us when we had to change our original plans due to COVID. I can't say enough good things about them and I would HIGHLY recommend them for any event!! -

My husband and I cannot thank Matt and Ruth enough for not only taking the most beautiful photos of my wedding but for being everything we could’ve hoped for in a wedding photographer. I first met Matt and Ruth at a wedding expo at the Albany Marriot, my mom told me that I had that day to book a wedding photographer, anyone of my choice. After meeting and speaking with many photographers, I found that Matt and Ruth were the perfect match. Not only because of the gorgeous portfolio they had, but because they were the most personable, relatable, down to earth people. They are nothing but exceptional and I recommend them to anyone in need of a photographer for any occasion. We had a wonderful experience working with Matt and his wife Ruth. Matt was very responsive and easy to schedule with when I first reached out to him. We had our engagement photos done at a local Apple Orchard. Since neither my fiance or I have done a photo shoot, and can be awkward, we really weren't sure what to expect. Matt and Ruth came prepared with ideas but were also willing to listen to any suggestions we may have had. They made us feel very comfortable and relaxed. Matt and Ruth are the perfect combination of professionalism, creativeness, and fun! Our photos came out great and it has been hard to choose which one to use for our Save-the-Date!
We are bummed Matt and Ruth are booked for our actual wedding date because we would've loved to have them there on our special day. We definitely will use them again if we need photos for anything though and highly recommend them to everyone else! -

Matt, his wife Ruth, and their son Charlie were FANTASTIC! We had a 20 person wessing party (including us) so you can imagine it was loud and crazy, but they did a fantastic job keeping everyone organized! We added the photo booth to our package was such a great idea, everyone LOVED it! I enjoyed working with the Mccloskys because Matt (and family) were the most genuine, polite and fun photographer(s). Amazing Experience!
We had such an amazing experience working with Matt McClosky Photography!
Matt had great communication from the moment we inquired about booking him for our wedding- he met with us in person, provided us with all the information we needed and answered all our emails and our hundreds of questions right away.
He was organized and had everything set up and answered so we had absolutely no worries come the day of.
On our wedding day Matt and Ruth went above and beyond to get the most breathtaking shots. From climbing dark staircases to laying down on the docks... they did everything to get the perfect pictures and angles!
They were so personable and made our time with them comfortable and fun. We were so happy with all our pictures we got back. We would absolutely recommend having them for your special day!

Everything we wanted in a photograher
We were married in an unusual location, and we knew we had the right photographer when Matt loved the space as much as we do. Our ceremony took place in an ornate meeting room of a historic school, and Matt and Ruth’s photos capture the beauty of the space and the joy of our day. We were able to enjoy our day, knowing Matt and Ruth had everything under control and the photos they took are amazing! Matt took photos we had not even thought of, and we now have such beautiful pictures to remind us of our ceremony with our families and friends.
Matt was responsive, helpful, detailed leading up to the wedding day, and on the day he and Ruth were so relaxed and ready. Our guests complimented how Matt moved around the room in a way that made you forget he was there.
The online gallery Matt created was so easy to share with everyone. Now the difficult part – choosing the ones we love the most!!

Kiersten Sent on 07/22/2018We can't say enough wonderful things about Matt and his wife, Ruth! From the very beginning they were great to work with! Matt always answered our emails and questions very quickly and thoroughly, he was organized, and we felt that we were so prepared going into the wedding that we didn't have any concerns or questions about photos.
My husband and I said over and over again throughout the day how happy we were that we made the decision to ask them to photograph our wedding day. Matt and Ruth arrived on time and were so much fun while taking the getting ready photos. They were personable, funny, made everyone feel at ease... just absolutely wonderful. Everyone who had a part in the day has told us how much they enjoyed working with Matt and Ruth because of how fun they are to be around but also how good they are at taking photos. They gave great direction about what they were looking for and all of the shots turned out phenomenal. It is awesome because Matt has more of the technical eye for lighting etc while Ruth has an eye for composition so they balance each other out perfectly and really do a phenomenal job. They were open to any pictures that we wanted to have taken too!
Throughout the ceremony, I didn't even notice they were there! Which was great because I was able to just focus on marrying my best friend. But the pictures they got were absolutely incredible!! And they were organized and quick with getting amazing pictures of family after the ceremony so that we could get back for our cocktail hour and reception! They were so fun at the reception and everyone enjoyed working with them!
But, being wedding photographers, I suppose one of the most important things is the actual photos. I was blown away by how much I love our photos. He sent us almost 800 photos and I literally love every single one! AND to top it all off, his pricing was the best that I could find! We are sure that everyone will love Matt and Ruth as much as we did! -

Emma Sent on 07/14/2018Where to start with our praise? Matt and Ruth are both PHENOMENAL! They made my husband and I so comfortable on our wedding day. Matt was very patient and calming whenever I was getting jittery with nerves. Matt took a very unobtrusive role for the entire day. Even when posing us, he allowed us to be genuine and caught some of the most breath-taking shots when we were just being ourselves. Guests praised him for not impacting the ceremony so they were able to enjoy the ceremony as well. Our photos were stunning, so he has been able to find a balance between getting the awesome shots without having a negative influence on the guest experience. Matt was able to learn my husband and my personalities and they are so beautifully captured in the photos. The cherry on top is that we had our entire gallery (almost 1000 pictures!) available about two weeks after the wedding. We have also ordered some prints from him and they are just stunning quality. I recommend everything about Matt and Ruth!

He has a technical eye for lighting, setting, and all technical photography things while she has an eye for composition and making sure we look good. They are both very likable, easy-going, and fun to work with. We had such a blast shooting with them and laughed the whole time. We haven't had our wedding yet but I know that all that will change is I will have more great things to say! We got our engagement photos back in a short amount of time. And they are literally perfect. The lighting, setting, composition, clarity... everything is perfect. I could not be more in love with our photos.

With that, we booked a package for our wedding day that included both Matt and Ruth and we could not be happier. These 2 are a dynamic team that work so well together and just make things happen without any thought or concern on the part of the Bride and Groom. Matt's personality is fantastic. My husband told me afterward that Matt kept the guys laughing and smiling with some jokes as they got ready and he snapped away (just as he did with the girls)! Our wedding day was more than a bit hot and humid. Not the best mix for heavy suits and gowns and outdoor photos, but Matt and Ruth didn't just make it happen, they made it work out very well and captured beautiful moments and photos! They covered all our wish-list photos, and some we never could've even imagined but are so glad they did! Matt and Ruth are no pressure, incredibly quick and responsive to all communications, easy and fun to work with, and will cover all the details from the biggest to the tiniest.
