My husband and I cannot say enough about Richard. He was perfect! He made our ceromony so memorable and personal that truly touched our hearts. Richard asked us to answer some questions separately describing our relationship. He used our answers and fit them perfectly into the ceromony. It was perfect and beautiful. We shed some happy tears. Richard was absolutely INCREDIBLE through the entire process - from our initial phone call meeting for the first time to helping us with the logistics in submitting our license to the county's office.

Richard was a such a wonderful officiant! Initially, he helped us decide how we wanted our wedding ceremony to flow. He was so helpful with the planning process and got to know our relationship through the relationship questionnaire he sent us. Richard was incredibly flexible with date changes during the pandemic and really put us at ease in our wedding day. The ceremony Richard prepared was so beautiful and really set the mood for the rest of the day. We can’t thank him enough for helping us convey our love to each other on our very special day. Wedding during the Kincade fire
Richard prepared an amazing and heartfelt ceremony for our wedding! It was a joy to work with him. He was unwavering in his commitment to our ceremony that ended up being held amidst the evacuation orders for the Kindcade fire. Our ceremony was truly memorable and I will be forever grateful for him. Also, he didn’t need a microphone (which saved us money) and everyone could hear him just fine.

Just Like an old Friend
Richard was an amazing officiant. We didn’t meet in person until a few minutes before the ceremony, but I would recommend him in a heart beat to anyone. Don't think twice, Richard is the best!!
When we started looking for our officiant, it quickly became clear that this person was going to set the tone for the entire ceremony. After speaking with multiple people, we were lucky enough to find Richard. I cannot say enough positive things about him! His presence is calming, he takes time to get to know the couples he works with and to craft a ceremony that fits their personalities and relationship. The ceremony he put together for my now husband and I was absolutely perfect - it was funny at the right moments and serious at the right moments. It was the perfect mix of what we were looking for - light hearted but serious when it should be, given the importance of what we were doing. His tone was calming and you feel the importance of the moment through both his tone and his words. We have heard over and over from our guests that Richard was amazing, and that it felt like he really knew us and our story. Don't even think twice, this is the guy! We are so, so lucky he was available to marry us!

Richard was simply incredible. He made our elopement ceremony very special and unforgettable. It was such an intense moment filled with many emotions and Richard's calming presence and words were very powerful. We each filled out a survey and he asked to see our vows so that between his words and our vows there was no repetition. We planned our elopement with a 24 hour notice and sent him our survey the night before, and Richard came through.
We also ran into some clerical issues at the county clerk's office, which Richard was able to resolve for us quickly, which was very appreciated.

Best Wedding Ceremony Ever
Selecting Richard as our Officiant was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding. Prior to our ceremony we had only met him once due to our wedding being a destination. Richard took the time to meet with us and send us a questionnaire that he then used to create our personal ceremony. His thoughtfulness and sincere dialogue used to tell our story was absolutely beautiful. Our guests were raving about him afterwards and thought we had known Richard for years! Everyone kept saying how that was the best wedding ceremony they have ever witnessed. We could not have asked for a more intimate ceremony. If you are getting married in Napa or surrounding area I highly recommend Richard Meyer!

I have never experienced an officiant in any wedding I have attended that was memorable or touching so I deferred to my fiancé to choose an officiant for our ceremony since it was rather unimportant to me. I must say, I am so glad and grateful that my fiancé cared enough about our wedding and our ceremony to have chosen Reverend Richard Meyer. He was such a professional. He allowed us to cater our wedding to suit our needs and our particular circumstance. His words were so touching, his cadence calming. He moved not only me and my now husband but guest I thought were impervious to the words of love. Reverend Meyer said to calm us both that perfect ceremonies are soon forgotten but I disagree. Reverend Richard Meyer was a pleasure to have as our wedding officiant. I wanted to meet him beforehand because I wanted to be comfortable with all the people who would be standing beside me during the ceremony (my husband and Richard). He was willing to meet us beforehand so that we could get to know him a bit and feel confident in choosing our officiant for the day. Reverend Richard was able to tailor the ceremony to our needs. We wanted a non-denominational ceremony that was spiritual, but still referenced some of our Catholic and Christian backgrounds. He made us and our guests feel comfortable during the ceremony, was funny but also serious when it needed to be, and set a nice tone for the rest of our wedding. We were introduced to Richard via our wedding planner and after interviewing a few other officiants we knew Richard was the perfect fit for us! We wanted a very personalized ceremony with elements of Jewish/Catholic pieces throughout. Richard did just that! He personalized our ceremony so much that several guests asked if he knew us before or if we were related in any way. He allowed our imaginations to create our own ceremony while adding little extra of his own personal touches throughout. During the course of the evening, half of our guests came up to us at the reception telling us it was the most beautiful ceremony they have ever witnessed. Do yourself a favor and book Richard! We were originally planning to have a friend officiate our wedding, but when plans fell through we had to find a new officiant with only a couple of months to spare. After reading all the rave reviews, we contacted Richard and immediately decided he was a perfect fit for us. He was so responsive and professional, and we really enjoyed the entire process of planning our ceremony with him. While planning a destination wedding we were worried about being able to find an officiant and be able to connect with them so that they could know us on a more personal level and be able to make our ceremony special to us. We hit the jackpot with Richard Meyer! Richard was very responsive and easy to communicate with via phone and email. His ceremony left all of our guests buzzing. The two questions that we have heard most is, "How did you meet your officiant?!" and "How long has he known you?." Everyone has been shocked to find out we only had met with once in person and a couple phone calls prior to the wedding. Our guests were sure that he was a direct relative or friend of the family. He had a way of tapping into the our journey and making our day unique to us. Richard has a soothing presence and made sure we were calm and present in the moment for our ceremony. Perfectly Personalized Ceremony
Our wedding day was absolutely magical and a huge part of that was because of Reverend Meyer and the incredible ceremony he officiated. My husband and I thought long and hard about who we wanted to officiant our special day because we had specific desires for our ceremony. We wanted it to be highly personal, strike a balance between spirituality and inclusivity, and we wanted the process to be collaborative. We were so fortunate to find Rev. Meyer because he gave us all of these things and more!
He surprised us by speaking words that we had written about each other but never shared together. He helped come up with ways to include our family members in the actual ceremony and really listened to us about what we wanted the message of our ceremony to be. It was a perfect balance of sharing our thoughts and ideas and then Rev. Meyer taking over and crafting a beautiful and very thoughtful ceremony.
If our experience wasn't proof enough, we had almost every single person at our rather large wedding come up to us and rave about how our ceremony was the best they'd ever experienced. They thought it flowed beautifully, captivated their attention, and made them feel like they knew us even better as a couple. It set everyone up to have an incredible rest of the night at our reception. And if you're working with a planner, they'll love how Rev. Meyer is so organized and directive. He knows what he's doing!

Richard came highly recommended from our wedding coordinator and boy was she spot on! We started off by meeting Richard for coffee. He made us feel comfortable, walked us through the entire process and helped us get to know him as a person. We honestly didn't know what went into the ceremony and how someone could get to know us without really knowing us for years. Well, he did it. Richard gave us a heart-felt, personable and meaningful ceremony. One thing that I remember hearing the most (and I can't count how many people came up to me) was immediately following the ceremony to say how wonderful our ceremony was and how much they loved our officiant. Richard was a complete success. I still have people telling me how much they enjoyed the ceremony and what a great guy they thought he was. Like I'm sure many people, we didn't really know what we wanted from our officiant. Most of what my wife and I could agree on was what we didn’t want in the ceremony! Richard's experience and intuition took care of that. After sending him a somewhat vague and challenging list of wants he delivered a perfect, personal ceremony. Give Richard as much information as possible about what you want and about yourselves and then just leave it to him and TRUST him! Do not even waste your time looking anywhere else! Richard is absolutely incredible. I have to say, I was concerned when I was going through the process of picking out an officiant, but he completely nailed it in every way possible. I was so impressed with all of the personal touches, it was as if he had known us and our relationship better than we did ourselves. I had people calling for weeks afterward telling me that it was the best ceremony they've ever been to. People even asked if we had known Richard before starting this process. There aren't enough words to say how happy we are with the outcome!

I know two couples who have hired Reverend Meyer, and they were both extremely happy. The 2nd couple hired him at the very last minute - literally less than 48 hours before their wedding - after their original celebrant had to cancel due to a death in the family. He did an extraordinary job, with almost no notice. So comfortable, just the right amount of humor. He was touching, engaging, and kept the focus on the couple and their children who were blending into one family. Highly recommend!

Richard was our officiant for our wedding on 9.24.16 at Solage Calistoga and he was amazing! Our friends and family actually thought Richard was a family friend, because the ceremony was so personal. They were shocked to hear that we met him day of. I loved the way he set up the ceremony. I mixed and matched his ceremony templates to make it our own. Rev. Meyer put together a personally-tailored and meaningful ceremony for us -- and he did it in just a few days. We booked Rev. Meyer just about a week before our wedding, and he still came up with beautiful vows and helped us think through some ceremony details that hadn't occurred to us.
Many of our guests (it was a tiny wedding) told us afterward how "us" the ceremony was, and how much it moved them.
If Rev. Meyer could do such a phenomenal job for us in a week, imagine how well he'll do for your undoubtedly better-organized wedding! We wouldn't hesitate to recommend him.

We are in such gratitude for the thought and time he invested in the process of getting to know us as a couple to tailor our ceremony in a way that our guests were left wondering if we knew him prior. Richard was never overbearing during the planning process, and worked diligently to ensure we felt comfortable with all parts of the process. He was successful in easing any and all stresses I had while planning a destination wedding in Sonoma (from Hawaii). My husband and I chose Reverend Richard Meyer because after talking with him on the phone, we felt he was very down to earth and his personality really fit into our plans of an intimate Napa Valley backyard wedding. He had us fill out questionnaires about each other that we were not allowed to share. This enabled him to really personalize the ceremony and it felt like he had known us for years. Guests actually asked if we did know him. He did an amazing job of helping us feel comfortable and calm prior to the ceremony. And even during the ceremony he used some humor to put everyone at ease. Our wedding ceremony was very emotional for both of us and for our guests. There were lots of happy tears in the crowd and that is attributed to the wonderful sermon Reverend Meyer gave. Richard created an absolutely perfect and beautiful ceremony for our wedding. We met with him once over Skype, and then exchanged periodic emails. He didn't interfere with our planning process (which was jam packed with tons of things, as you will realize), yet he asked the right questions at the right times. The end result was exactly what we told him and what we wanted. Our ceremony felt very personal and customized. The way which Richard worked with us and got the feel for our needs and who we are as a couple was just wonderful. It seems excessive to give full 5 stars in each category but it is an honest representation of how we feel after our warm, sincere and loving ceremony.
Other guests have asked for the 'script' ( not that it came off as heavily scripted) so that they can to some extent re live the moment and the wonderful service.
Other couples have talked about renewing their vows or re-marrying with Richard.

I really can't say enough good things about the service we received from Reverend Meyer. My fiancé and I read all the reviews we could find and were lucky enough to choose him!!! Rev. Meyer was excellent!! The ceremony he crafted for us was personal and touching, and didn't sound like any other wedding I have seen. Many guests commented on how well it "fit": us.

Reverend Meyer was a phenomenal officiant. From the first time we met, he was so easy to talk to and we knew straight away that he was perfect for our wedding.
On the day he blew our guests away with his words, and even took a moment to make sure we were part of the moment and not have the day escape us.
He was very professional and the ceremony was perfect.

Reverend Richard Meyer just married us on 5/18/14 and I cannot be more thankful for his beautiful service he put together. From the moment we met prior to the wedding tow the day of Richard was professional and had a way of putting myself and now my husband at ease. Richard was also so accommodating, as the day of I forgot the license at my hotel about 15 minutes away from my venue and he patiently waited after the ceremony until it arrived. If you are looking for someone who can customize your ceremony to your faith or preferences, I highly recommend Reverend Richard Meyer.

Reverend Meyer was my first and only choice for our wedding. He is very caring and wants to make the wedding as special and memoriable as possible. He is easy to talk to, and works with you to have the ceremony be exactly what you want. My husband and I were very pleased.

Richard was absolutely amazing! He customized our vows and made our wedding so personal. He was wam and caring and really went out if his way to make our day special. My husband and I were behind on details and he made sure it all came together. Richard was very easy to work with and we were so pleased with our ceremony!

My wife and I discovered Richard's website while researching Bay Area officiants, and we decided to reach out to him because he had many positive reviews and seemed super friendly and approachable. Our initial impression was confirmed after we spoke with him on the phone and then met him for coffee in Santa Rosa. He's very down-to-earth and has officiated hundreds of weddings over the past 30+ years. Good sense of humor too! He specializes in outdoor ceremonies at vineyards in Sonoma/Napa/Mendocino and really takes the time to get to know you and your partner before your big day. Everyone couldn't stop raving about how personal our ceremony was this past summer. We highly recommend Richard - don't hesitate to reach out to him, especially because he books up fast!

Richard was incredibly friendly, easygoing, and helpful in planning our ceremony. He provided templates with a variety of styles that we could draw on for inspiration, and he shared feedback on our vows, readings, and other parts of the ceremony. He guided us through the process and answered all our questions. On the day of the wedding, he was a friendly and calming presence and led a beautiful ceremony. Our guests loved him! We were very happy with our ceremony and with our choice to have Richard lead it.

Richard was very well-versed, well spoken as an officiant. He had a lot of great insights to how we should conduct our ceremony. He was prompt with his responses, very understanding. I really enjoyed the ceremony put on by him at my wedding. My one recommendation is to fully address and confirm how the ceremony will be conducted prior to the day of. We wanted to make some changes, add in our own vows the last week prior to saying "I do" and it was a drawn out back and forth discussion between Richard and I. At the end of the day, he does and did exactly what my husband and I wanted! I would recommend Richard for your big day!
