My husband doesn’t even like cake but he absolutely loved our wedding cake! When we returned the stands, I couldn’t help but buy more cupcakes. 😅💕

One of Knoxville's Best Bakeries

If you’re from Knoxville there’s no review needed. Magpie’s is hands down THE place to get cakes, cupcakes, and sweets. We wanted to do cupcakes for our wedding, and we literally could not pick a favorite and ended up doing 6 different flavors. I almost cried when I found out other guests left with the leftovers because I was greedy enough to want them for myself. Elizabeth was great with communication, always helpfully sending over updated invoices whenever we made changes to our headcount and making sure we were paid out and good to go. I’d eat Magpie’s as my sole food if my doctor let me.

Wonderful bakery!

I Love Magpies! I used them for my wedding cake. It was delicious and beautiful, and the entire process was excellent. Great communication, easy to work with, flexible (I had a Covid wedding, June 2020) - overall a great experience!

Guests Raved About the Dessert!

For our wedding, we decided to do a dessert table rather than just the traditional wedding cake. Magpies was so great to work with! They were very responsive and eager to help us achieve the vision of what we were wanting. After a delicious cake tasting (seriously the cake was so good, we had the hardest time deciding which flavors we wanted), we decided to do 3 different flavors for our cake. We also had mini pies which they were sweet enough to make little heart decorations on. Every detail was so well thought out, and the guests raved about how good the dessert was!

LOOOVEEEE Magpies! They've done 3 cakes for us now including a wedding cake (lemon) and a grooms cake (carrot cake)! Both were delicious and we got tons of compliments on the cakes about how pretty and delicious they were. We also got variety pack cupcakes from them for the wedding reception and they were very popular and delicious! Love to stop into their cool store in Downtown Knoxville on Central Ave. and get cookies, cupcakes, and samples!

Delicious and beautiful are an understatement when it comes to Magpie's creations. From our cake-tasting and consultation to our cake-cutting, they were a delight to work with. The final product surpassed our wildest expectations. Highly recommend!

Magpies was great! Elizabeth was easy to work with even though I didn't live in the area. The cake tasted amazing and looked even better than I was hoping. I would definitely recommend!

Magpies made us a dessert bar for our wedding that included a large wedding cake, pies, cheesecakes, cupcakes and cookies. They were beautiful and I got so many compliments on all of the desserts.

We loved working with Peggy at Magpies! She gave us a taste test to help us choose the flavors. The cake was designed by Sarah who is magpies artist and was super delicious and customized to fit our theme.

Don't get your cake anywhere else. They worked with us to have multiple flavors and icing colors. We went with lemon raspberry and Italian cream cake on alternating gold and white layers, and it was the most delicious cake we've ever had. When we changed our minds multiple times on how many servings we would need, they were totally easy going and got us exactly what we wanted.

Magpies Bakery did a fantastic job with our wedding cake. We planned our wedding from out of town and found Magpies Bakery easy to work with. I provided them with some pictures and a vision for the cake over a consultation over the phone and it came out perfectly. The cake was absolutely delicious. They also worked with my florist to execute it beautifully. We were so pleased and could not recommend them enough.

If you are planning your wedding and want the absolutely most delicious and beautiful wedding cake in town, look not further than Magpie's Bakery!! Magpies came highly recommended to me and I could not be happier with our wedding cake!! First of all, Peggy and her staff provided over-the-top customer service!! Everyone at Magpie's was absolutely delightful to work with from start to finish. They helped me design my wedding cake by providing samples and showing me photos of Magpie's wedding cakes. Peggy met with me and my Mom and designed my dream wedding cake on the spot. Every detail was customized to my liking. Peggy baked a three tiered lemon cake with delicate pink buttercream and fondant lace design (to match my wedding gown!!). Our wedding cake was stunning and was literally the icing on the cake for our beautiful wedding and reception!! I cannot recommend Magpie's Bakery highly enough!! They are above and beyond the best bakery in town!!

A beautiful cake means nothing if it's not delicious. Our cake was gorgeous, delicious and had people talking days after! I am new to the Tennessee area but when we announced that we were having magpies make our cake and cupcakes for our wedding, I'm not kidding, there was celebration by family near and far that had experienced the delight that is magpies. And for good reason! Everything from working with Peggy to eating the cupcakes was a delight. We were sold on chocolate but then we tried her strawberry frosting, if you have not tried it please do yourself a favor and try it! Everyone loved the cake. I dream of returning to that shop and having her cakes many times in the future ? amazing!

We can’t even begin to express our appreciation for the hard work, talent, and time Magpies Bakery spent creating such a beautiful wedding cake. It was everything we imagined and more; a perfect balance of simple elegance with a little farm flair! We received so many compliments from guests— the Italian Cream and Blackberry combination was delicious!!! We used magpies for our cake table. We ordered 5 round cakes instead of a tiered wedding cake and it worked out perfectly. They were easy to contact and made sure to confirm our order. Most importantly: the cakes were delicious!

we had a large wedding with about 200 people. i had a 4 tier cake and a grooms cake. they were delicious and beautiful and unique. the thing i want people to know is how amazing their team is. i designed my cake and then had second thoughts. i contacted them and told them my worries. they let me redesign the cake, they never made me feel bad or gave me and drama. i cant say how much i appreciate that. a wedding cake is a big deal, especially in my family. people still talk about how cute and clever the grooms cake was, a 3d crown. just amazing and DELICIOUS!

Magpies has always been a favorite of mine so when it came to finding a bakery to make our wedding cake I knew I wanted to use them and I am so glad we did! We had a Great Gatsby themed wedding at the Capitol Theatre and I had shown Peggy a picture of a cake I liked on pinterest to use for inspiration. They were able to use that idea and surpass our expectations with how beautiful this cake turned out. I requested they use as little fondant as possible and they hardly used any and the cake looked and tasted incredible. We went with a classic chocolate grooms cake and every bite of it was gone by the end of the night. So I would say both were a huge hit at the wedding!

The wedding cake was decorated just as we requested and was delicious. It was delivered on time. When I had to add a large number of servings because we had more guests reply that they were coming than we anticipated, they had no trouble making a larger cake with the same design with just a week or two notice.

Magpies provides so many tasty options - and very classy designs we had a hard time choosing one. Many of our guests commented on how delicious the cakes were, both the wedding cake and the custom groom's cake. Mapgies staff is very responsive, easy to work with, and realiable - they do a great job!

Magpies made my cake exactly how I described I wanted it. As I was talking she was drawing and by the time I was done explaining she had designed the most beautiful cake. Not only was it beautiful it was delicious and so moist!

Wow! We knew we didn't want a traditional wedding cake: we wanted a variety of cupcakes instead. Great choice, because everyone loved the magpies wedding cupcakes. Magpies made little signs describing the different flavors, which was helpful for our guests too. I was glad I had ordered extra, since the cupcakes went quickly!

All I have to say is that EVERYONE at my wedding absolutely loved my cake!! I wasn't able to afford a custome design cake, but I went to Magpies with a couple of photos showing what I liked. After working with Ryan, I chose a three layer specialty cake with swirls. And Ryan added a "Z" mongram in the center layer. And I did vanilla cake with vanilla butter-cream icing. I don't think I have ever had a cake taste that amazing! YUMMY!! Also, Ryan was very friendly and even though my budget didn't allow me to order a custome design wedding cake, she took the time to work with me and she didn't make me feel like Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman!! LOL LOL Thanks Ryan!!

Magpies made both the wedding cake and the groom's cake, and both were absolutely amazing. The wedding cake was the most beautiful cake I had ever seen (I know I'm a little biased). Peggy was so easy to work with and she had wonderful ideas for the style and icing decor! It was BEAUTIFUL. The groom's cake was construction themed and she even made a road going up the side and placed bulldozers and other equipment on it! It was perfect. They both tasted absolutely out of this world! I'm looking forward to our 1st anniversary so we can eat more:) Peg and MagPies is amazing and will do a wonderful job for anyone:)

I am a confessed Magpie-a-holic so choosing a cake was simple for me....except I had to have several cakes because I couldn't decide. We met with Peg & went over our preferences. We decided on having 5 separate cakes. They were specific & made sure we knew exactly how the cakes would be presented. The cakes looked beautiful at the wedding & the flavors were amazing (we even custom created a few of the cakes). All buttercream, all the time....how could you go wrong with Magpies?

absolutely the best cake i have ever had! they did a wonderful job and the selection of flavors is phenomenal. we had five flavors of cake and our guests had a hard time not eating each one! they also have wonderful cupcakes and even gave us a sample box after meeting with them and tasting the flavors! understood exactly what we wanted and were very willing to work with our budget. they even delivered for a small fee at the last minute because we were unable to pick them up ourselves like we had planned! love them!

YUM! We did mini cupcakes and got about twice as many as we had guests, so that our guests could try several flavors if they wanted. We also did a cutting cake. Everything was ready on time and really tasty!

We used magpies for our cupcakes. No surprise here, they were wonderful. We rented a cupcake stand - they looked beautiful for presentation. No cake cutting fees, easy to serve. It also gave us flexibility in offering some variety. Going with mini cupcakes also allowed us to serve great quality cake at a very reasonable cost! Highly recommend! Definitely visit the location & try one - you'll be sold on taste online.

Magpies cakes are the best! The cake was beautiful, we had tons leftover, they matched the flowers to my bridesmaids dresses. The flavors are excellent and they were very flexible working with me. We picked up the cake and set it up ourselves at the reception. Thanks!

I'm convinced that there is no better cake than Magpies. We decided to get mini cupcakes and our guests went crazy for them! It was fun because we got to have many different flavors and colors.

The most delicious wedding cake I've ever had. We had cheesecake (three flavors, stacked and iced like a normal cake!) - the guests were delighted! We ate our top tier a year and a half later and it was still just as good! amazing. I love Magpies!

Magpies did an absolutely incredible job on both our wedding and groom's cake! We did two cake tastings with Magpies and absolutely fell in love with their fun flavors and the stunning cakes they made in the past. We provided them with pictures from Pinterest and they were absolutely picture perfect- the colors and textures were exactly what we were looking for, and they specifically purchase a cake stand we were able to rent to complement it.

For the wedding cake we decided on three tiers with different flavors, textures, and colors on each... a lot to go wrong, but everything was perfect: First layer: vanilla cake with raspberry filling. Second layer: chocolate cake with hazelnut filling. Third layer: vanilla cake with strawberry shortcake filling. Groom's cake: Chocolate Guinness cake with Bailey's cream cheese filling. How fun!

I have never seen a cake so gorgeous, and it still tasted wonderful! Instead of saving the top layer, we are making a special trip on our one year anniversary to recreate our first bite with a fabulous and fresh mini-cake!

I came into my consultation with magpies having no idea what I wanted for my wedding cake. They showed me several photos, and were very helpful helping me decide what I wanted. We came up with a gorgeous design that was even prettier in real life! I got so many compliments on how beautiful (and tasty) the cake was! The were very flexible and allowed me to give the head count up to 2 days before the wedding.The cake was delivered on time, with absolutely no issues. I feel like they might be a little pricey, but otherwise, Magpies is fantastic!

Magpie's did an awesome job on my cake. The taste was strawberry basket and it was wonderful! They are willing to make your cake just about any way that you want it. They are professional and very friendly!

Peg at Magpie's was wonderful to work with. She was responsive to my suggestions but also had great suggestions of her own. As always, her product was delicious. Both the wedding cake and groom's cake (cupcakes) were provided by Magpie's. People are still talking about my wedding cake (lemon-raspberry with butter cream icing) 3 months later. We could not have been more pleased!

Overall I was very pleased with Magpies' service. Of all the things I that gave me cause for worry, our wedding cake was not one of them! From the very first meeting, they were attentive and made us feel like they were doing everything they could to make us comfortable and accommodated our every request. I was sold when they offered to quote: "Bling that mother' up" to match my sequined bridesmaid's dresses, and my groom was sold when they offered him milk with cake samples - he loves milk and they picked up on that. In fact, we picked Magpies over two other vendors even though one of the other quotes came in lower because they have better tasting cakes and fillings but they showed us superb customer service.

I knew for years I wanted Magpies to do my wedding cake. They are THE go-to professionals for gorgeous wedding cakes in Knoxville. They did not disappoint me. Our wedding cake was absolutely stunning. We had a two tier fondant with pearl beads and sashes of pink and purple running down it with these beautiful edible flowers on top. It was absolutely stunning. My husband's groom's cake was a tropical-themed sheet cake with buttercream icing. It looked and tasted great! They understood and listened to what we wanted for our cakes, did a wonderful job designing and making them, and they were just a wonderful centerpiece for the whole wedding. Everybody complimented how amazing it looked. Both cakes tasted great too. The only reason I don't give 5 stars on the value is that the cost was a little higher than the other cake vendors we considered.

Magpies went far beyond the call of duty to make my husbands grooms cake. Three different succulent flavors, amazing art, such fine detail, and delivered in perfect condition. It was so beautiful and exactly our vision, now keep in mind our vision was off the wall, out of the box, out of this world ... but Peggy did it. The cakes looked amazing. It was a little on the expensive side, but they look and taste amazing. My grooms cake was shaped like the UFC octagon. It looked very realistic. It was so amazing that me and my wife barely got to taste it before the guest had consumed them, and trust me it wasnt because the cakes were to small.

We had all cupcakes and and a small two tier cake and they were all absolutely delicious. They were a bit pricey, but everyone really enjoyed them at our wedding, so it was worth the cost.

There's no other way to describe it...WE LOVED OUR CAKE!!! It was beautiful, and it was the tastiest cake we've ever had!! I highly recommend the strawberry, chocolate, and chocolate raspberry. It was fantastic!! The only issue I have with them is that their delivery fee was pretty high, but we did have them going kind of far. The taste was well worth it, though, and they will wrap your top layer for you and give you instructions on how to keep it until your first anniversary. They're very easy to work with, and again, the cakes are EXCELLENT!!

They can design any cake you can dream and make it taste delicious. The cake is slightly more expensive than most but it is definately worth it. I loved the cake and everyone said that my wedding cake was the most beautiful they had seen in a very long time.

The cake was beautiful and of course DELICIOUS! Everyone wanted to know where we got it from. The only thing was they were an hour late delivering the cake on my wedding day. Everything worked out, but that just added a little extra stress to the day. I would still recommend them to anyone!

Sometimes I would have to follow up on e-mails with questions I had about our cakes (wedding and grooms), and I felt the price was a bit on the high side, but there were tons of positives that I would definitely use them again if the opportunity presented itself. The cakes were beautiful and tasted absolutely divine which is why I was willing to pay a bit more for them. Also, we had an out of town wedding and they were wonderful about accomodating and even did a web consult for our cake design session. We will be moving to the Tennessee (Maryville) area and if I happen to be around their store, I will definitely stop in and buy some regular baked goods!

We got mini cupcakes from Magpies for our rehearsal dinner. My husband and his mom went to set it up. They were very nice and they had stands for a very good price. Everyone loooved the cupcakes!

Magpies was an obvious choice for our wedding cake, as we often buy goodies from there. Unfortunately we were initially ignored when entering to order our cake and several other guests were served before us, we decided to go ahead and book with them anyways, as we like the baked goods here. This has not been the case when visiting other times, just this once.

I was really excited for a phone consultation (I'm out of state) with Magpies, as they seem like the type of business I would like to support (young, fun, talented, socially inclusive)... Unfortunately, after waiting two weeks for the phone appointment, the appointment day came and went without hearing a word from anyone. I called the next day and was told that the girl who was supposed to call me doesn't even work the day of the week that she scheduled my appointment. The girl emailed me the following day and asked to reschedule another phone appointment for yet another week later. By that point I'd had enough and booked with someone else. Very disappointing.
