Crystal Gardens at Navy Pier in Chicago, IL has a longstanding relationship with Magnolia's Chicago location, so if you use Magnolia for your Crystal Gardens event you get a great deal. To top it off, Magnolia (regardless of location) is absolutely delicious. I have had their stuff both in NYC and Chicago, and it's heavenly every time. For our wedding, the wonderful Stephanie was our contact person at Magnolia. She prepared a beautiful tasting with us, looked over designs, spent a lot of time emailing ideas and quotes back and forth until we figured out exactly what we wanted: a two-tiered sparkle cake with a gazillion mini sparkle cupcakes. AMAZING!!! SO beautiful, so delicious (their Hummingbird flavor is the best!!!), and so easy to work with! Thanks Stephanie at Magnolia! -

The cake looked beautiful and tasted amazing! Their customer service was outstanding and we felt really special throughout the entire process from tasting to the wedding day. Pricing was pretty competitive too! -

We worked with Lara during the whole planning process with Magnolia Bakery. She helped us make a deconstructed wedding cake that looked beautiful and wow'd our guests. She was super responsive in all emails and helped make recommendations with her input. The cakes looked beautiful and even more importantly, tasted great! -

We got Magnolia's cupcakes instead of a wedding cake for our wedding, and it was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding. The coordinator/manager at the bakery was awesome - we went in for a free tasting (YUM!) and we chose three flavor combinations - classic vanilla/vanilla, devil's food cake with whipped frosting, and lemon meringue. We also had our choice of colors for the wrappers of each flavor - we picked colors to coordinated with our wedding colors. The manager also helped us choose the right number of cupcakes for each flavor based on the number of guests, and we also purchased from Magnolia's 'take home' boxes, which our guests LOVED because some of them were too stuffed from dinner to each dessert (or they wanted to take a second cupcake home with them!) The delivery and everything was easy. We loved working with them, and we LOVED the cupcakes!!11 -

We opted for a cupcake tower instead of a traditional wedding cake and LOVED our assortment from Magnolia. We live in Manhattan and frequent the shops often but wanted our wedding guests (most of whom were from out of town) to get to experience them as well....the cupcakes were a huge hit and a fun little touch to our July 4th wedding with sparklers and champagne added for our toast. -

From the get-go I knew I wanted to have Magnolia as my wedding cake vendor as it is my Husband and my favorite bakery in New York City. I worked with Katie out of the Columbus Circle location and she was such a sweetie pie. We met for a tasting (even though I knew what everything tasted like already because I practically go there weekly) and she was so receptive to my ideas and helped with inspiration. She kept my budget in mind and really worked with me to make everything beautiful. We paid a little extra to have them decorate everything and put monograms on the cupcakes but it was totally worth it. -

You Cannot Beat Classic Magnolia Bakery Cupcakes for Your Wedding!
I LOVE cupcakes. So it only made sense to have a cupcake tower instead of a classic cake for our wedding. Our wedding venue actually included a cake or cupcakes in the wedding package- but come the tasting, all of us there were in agreement that the house made ones were pretty awful! Luckily we still had about 2 months until our wedding so after a bit of back and forth trying to find the correct Magnolia bakery (only some of them handle wedding orders) and manager to speak with (Shenequa helped us out and she was amazing), we placed our Magnolia cupcake order. We were able to choose the flavors we wanted, customize the icing colors and decorations to match our theme, and they were even able to include some gluten-free cupcakes for our gluten free guests! Although I did not personally receive the order day-of, our venue did, everything appeared to arrive on time and in good condition. New Yorkers know and love Magnolia Bakery (full disclosure: especially me) so you really can't go wrong! -

Brooklyn the caterer at Magnolia's went above and beyond to ensure my wedding went smoothly! She kept in great contact with me when I wasn't available, and kept my order perfect to how I wanted it! Plus, she and her team stayed late for me at their catering location so so could get the cake myself all the way from Monmouth county, New Jersey! Thank you for the most delicious, perfect, decadent cake ever!!!! -

I lived near the original Magnolia in the West Village for 20 years so I always dreamed of having them do my wedding cake. But I was getting married an hour outside NYC, and my venue provided a free cake, so I thought fine, I'll use the free place. I went to a tasting and it was gross--"buttercream" frosting that was actually Crisco. (I know shortening holds up well at room temp, but I hate the taste.) I tried another bakery in NJ, figuring Magnolia was too far away . Also gross. So I finally did what I should have done in the first place--I called Magnolia. It turns out they deliver in a refrigerated truck to my venue all the time (for a fee.) And after talking to other bakeries who were chaotic and seemed like they'd never handled a wedding before, our contact, Brooklyn, at Magnolia was SO organized. She had it down to a science. She set up a lovely tasting for us at the Upper West Side location, with a lace tablecloth. We got to chose flavors for three mini cakes (and bring the leftovers home with us). We were trying to decide between getting a big tiered wedding cake, and doing a bunch of little cakes as a buffet. Brooklyn gave us tons of options and suggestions on what cakes/sizes would work for a buffet and even with the $100/hour delivery fee and a small fee for cute polka dot decorations on two cakes, we came in on budget! We got a chocolate cake, a vanilla cake, a banana cake, a carrot cake, and banana pudding shots, plus we rented cake stands to display it all. It was not only gorgeous but SO DELICIOUS. Our guests died over how good it all was. If you are getting married within an hour or so of NYC, Magnolia is the only way to go! Totally worth it! Ask for Brooklyn, she will make it all go smoothly. -

I am originally from NJ and LOVE the Magnolia Bakery. When I saw at the beginning of the year that they were beginning to ship their cupcakes nationwide I knew I had to have them for my wedding in Wrightsville Beach, NC. I contacted their event manager Hannah and while I was in NYC for my bachelorette party met with her at the Columbus Street store and had a tasting. She allowed me to order my cupcakes through her directly since it was a wedding and I was nervous going only through the website. My wedding was on Saturday and 84 cupcakes of assorted flavors arrived Friday afternoon to my resort. My planner called me in and they were amazing. Hannah included sugar shells to put on top of each cupcake to hide the small hole that comes when they are shipped. The icing was flawless on all the cupcakes and even I was astonished at how well they were packaged and traveled. All of my guests were amazed once I told them where they were from and how I got them there. It was definitely worth it. -

All of our guests are still talking about how terrific our cake was! Magnolia Bakery was our first - and only! - stop for cake tastings about 8 months before our wedding. Everything from the presentation at our tasting to the attention to detail for creating each tier of our cake was amazing. Everything showed up on time and perfectly, and working with Shenequa + her team was a breeze! Definitely the best cakes in NYC! -

Magnolia Bakery provided the perfect three tier wedding cake for our celebration dinner. Everyone was super helpful, particularly Ben, who arranged our last minute cake stand hire and confirmed all the day-of plans! There were no issues with delivery at all - perfect and professional! The cake itself was absolutely delicious, particularly the red velvet tier! I have to mention that our cake tasting was one of the best experiences during our wedding planning - we met with Kerry, and were given four sample cakes to try, plenty of iced tea and the little "Mr & Mrs" embossed forks just added a lovely touch! Kerry answered all our questions, gave us plenty of inspiration and ideas, and sent us away after the tasting with the remainder of our cakes and a few other sweet treats -- if there was no question we wanted a Magnolia Bakery before the tasting, it was a done deal after! -

Best banana pudding around
We ordered 60 banana puddings in mason jars with our custom monogram on the lid for our wedding reception.
The ordering process was so simple, everything was delivered on time and all our guests were absolutely obsessed with them.

Magnolia was the perfect choice for our wedding cake! The tasting was fun, memorable, and they sent us home with treats. We should have ordered even more than three tiers as our guests went back for seconds and we ran out of cake. We didn't think people liked cake that much and had other desserts, but everyone flocked to the cake! Victoria was a huge help and answered all of my questions promptly. She also worked to customize the cake by making it a confetti cake, my husband's favorite. I always hear Magnolia referred to as expensive, but I compared with a few other vendors and their prices were quite reasonable. Overall fantastic experience, and we would recommend them to anyone who wants a surefire, delicious wedding cake. -

We travelled to New York from Scotland and arranged to have our wedding cake supplied by Magnolia Bakery. It was easy to organise and the correspondence by email was timely and helpful in terms of working out what would be most suitable for us on the day. The cake was beautiful and delicious and we thoroughly enjoyed it! -

People are still talking about our wedding cake! So... wedding cakes are WAY more expensive than I ever imagined. That being said, if I'm going to pay that kind of money, I want it to not only look good, but taste amazing! That's what you get with Magnolia. We had a New York wedding, so it seemed the obvious choice, and we weren't disappointed! It was beautiful- just what we had asked for, and tasted awesome! As far as using Magnolia as a vendor, I'd HIGHLY recommend them! -

My husband and I eat a fair amount of Magnolia cupcakes (which is why we chose them in the first place for our wedding), but I can honestly say that the batch they made for the wedding was the best cupcake I've ever eaten! Yummy!
There were some issues with traffic on the day of our wedding, but Magnolia called to let us know that even if they didn't make it within the window of time that we had been assigned, they would be there in plenty of time for the reception. It ended up that there were no issues with delivery, but we were so glad that they were professional enough to give us a heads-up that there could be an issue. -

I was thrilled to discover Magnolia's "deconstructed wedding cake" option. We were able to order a mix of 6inch and 9inch round cakes of all different flavors for our 150 guests. We have gotten SO much feedback from our guests that they loved being able to go to the cake table and choose their flavor!
We worked with Kerry, and she was helpful, responsive, and professional.
Thanks Magnolia! -

Delicious wedding cake
Our experience with Magnolia Bakery was excellent. The entire staff was extremely professional and responsive throughout the whole process- from the cake tasting to the time of delivery. At the tasting, we had the pleasure of working with Ms. Nicole Knox who was very patient and did a great job of putting us at ease and helping us select our wedding cake. Perhaps the only thing surpassing Magnolia Bakery’s high level of service was the quality of the cake itself (which was incredibly rich and flavorful). It was executed perfectly, held up well over the course of the evening, and was a resounding hit with all our guests. We will return to Magnolia Bakery in the future and recommend them without hesitation for anyone’s special day! -

The cake was great and we actually took the cake with us to our destination wedding. However, Magnolia's made the two tiers the same size which was a mistake so we only took one of them. Other than that, the cake was great. -

Delicious Cake!
Our vendor partnered with Magnolia Bakery so we didn't technically have a choice about where the cake was from, but honestly I probably would have chosen them anyway. We've loved their cupcakes and baked goods for a long time and that quality extends to the custom cakes.
Nicole was our point person and she was a pleasure to work with, always so bubbly and positive. We had a blast with her at our cake tasting! The cakes themselves were all super tasty and delicious, and the decorations were so charming! We ended up going with a 3 tiered lemon cake with raspberry filling and white chocolate icing and it was perfect for our spring brunch wedding.
I will say that because they are a national brand the individual stores aren't allowed to alter any of the recipes for quality control reasons. That includes the color of the various components including some of the icings (our white chocolate icing came in one color only but I think you can dye the buttercreams), so if you have dreams of a multicolored cake that is something to keep in mind. The decoration/icing options are elegant but tend to be on the traditional side of things, which was fine with us but if you want something different/memorable then Magnolia is not for you.
But at the end of the day, the cake was delicious and the service was great and that's what we cared about. I would definitely recommend them! -

Cake was delicious and it was exactly as requested. Only thing to know in advance is that communication can drop off for days and that can be a little nerve wracking but eventually they get back to you. I would use them again. -

This review is for the Chicago based Magnolia Bakery on State Street.
I chose to use Magnolia Bakery to make my "wedding cake" for a Thursday afternoon wedding. I say wedding cake, but in actuality is was a 6inch one tier small cake to cut for our families, but not to share with the wedding. Magnolia did a fantastic job on the cake. I placed my order 2 month before the wedding, and brought in a color sample for them to match the ombré too. They did a fantastic job matching the color and the chocolate cake was delicious! My only gripe would be that I had originally set a pick up time of 10:30a and I called a few days before asking to change the time to earlier 9am, as my photographer had changed times, and was told that with an order of cake they couldn't. This I did not understand since it was a simple small cake and I was giving plenty of notice. The email response in the beginning was slow, but once the order was placed if I had a question they responded quickly. -

So I went with Magnolia bakery for some mini cupcakes for our wedding. I feel like everyone knows what they are getting into with Magnolia taste wise so if you love their cakes/cupcakes/banana pudding (!!) then it's probably worth it.
HOWEVER, this vendor was the only vendor that gave me problems on my wedding day. The delivery man called my phone the day of and my bridesmaid had to talk to him for like ten minutes. He claimed that he could not drop off my cupcakes because I wasn't there to sign for them... My bridesmaid calmly told him about ten times that obviously I was not there because I was getting ready for my wedding. It was absolutely ridiculous.
Having said that, the cupcakes looked and tasted great. Just wish my cupcakes weren't the most stressful part of my wedding day. -

Who doesnt love a Magnolia cupcake! And I frequent their stores often for gifts. And there was no question that I would want Magnolia cupcakes for our wedding cake. Of course, the cupcakes were as expected- wonderful and every raved about them. However, when I was ordering them, they wanted to charge me $60 to rent a "tree stand" undecorated and then pay $100 for a decorating fee---I thought this was ridiculous and decided to just have them deliver them and I purchased a display from etsy that I could keep.
Another thing that I was shocked to see was the small cake that I paid in addition to for us to cut was decorated horrific and it looked as if it was dropped before it was delivered. And there was some kind of strange flowers sticking in the holes.
Although a little disappointed, in price and service- I still am a forever customer--they just make a great cupcake -

I ordered a three-layer six-inch cake, vanilla on vanilla. The icing was a beautiful Tiffany blue, with a white ribbon tied around it. The icing was shaped like a flower, at the bakery they call it the "chrysanthemum" design. It was gorgeous, and delicious, and it was only $75. However, when I first contacted the bakery (we used the one on 69th & Columbus) I was directed to speak to a woman named Delaney. I specifically mentioned in my email which cake flavors I was interested in (none of them vanilla) and I made sure to mention that I am severely allergic to chocolate. We scheduled a tasting, however when my husband and I got there we were made to wait over half an hour. Once Delaney came over, she did not even remember right away that we had an appointment. Once she brought out cupcakes for us to taste, four out of six of them had chocolate. When I reminded her that I am allergic to chocolate, she removed three and left the red velvet (which, working in a bakery, she should know still contains chocolate). We were unable to try the lemon or pistachio flavors, which we were most interested in, because she said she did not have them in cupcakes, only cake slices. I didn't understand why a cake slice couldn't be brought over, but we didn't put up a fuss about it and decided to go with the vanilla cupcake with vanilla frosting. Honestly, it was the best vanilla I have ever had. We absolutely loved it. So while our tasting experience was not all that great, we truly loved our cake and are happy we chose Magnolia for it. -

My husband and I absolutely love magnolia bakery. We have been coming for years and have always had an amazing experience. Ordering our wedding cake was quite different though. (We ordered our cake from the Los Angeles Magnolia.)
The cake tasting was amazing, it went smoothly, we were given so much information. We were told we could call or email the bakery to order our cake, so we could have time to think about everything. I called a few days later, asked for the woman that handles wedding cakes, and the young man on the phone was so rude and unprofessional. I was told she was not in, and wouldn't be in for a while, but was not asked if I wanted to leave a message, or offered a different person to talk to. So I emailed the woman who handles cakes and two weeks later still had never received an email back. I called again, and was told she was on vacation, I had to ask if someone else could help me as the young man on the phone sat silent. After I was given another email address, I asked if I could speak to someone on the phone instead, which apparently could not be done.
So after sending three emails to this new email address and numerous phone calls, I finally drove down to the shop and explained everything that had happened and asked if I could just order my cake and cupcakes in person. The man helping me was very polite and apologetic, he took my order, and told me that he would turn it into the woman that handles these orders and I would receive a call and email of the order the following day. Three days later I still had not received any of this so I called and emailed every number and email address I had. About a week later I received an email from the store manager saying my order was sent to the New York bakery. It took a few weeks to get an invoice and actually pay for the cake, but we finally were able to.
We love their cakes so much we didn't want to order from another bakery, but I will never order a cake from them again. -
