When we got engaged, we knew we wanted to have our wedding in Lawrence. We first met Shelby and the team at Maceli's during the Lawrence Wedding Collective and were so impressed by the space and food that we decided to book Maceli's for our wedding reception!

Shelby met with us over the course of the year to assist with our planning needs and was very thorough and organized during the process. She honored every request and made wedding planning very easy. Even our day of coordinators were impressed by Maceli's staff and told us how easy the staff made it for them!

Maceli's staff turned the space into a Christmas wedding of our dreams! The Italian food was absolutely delicious and our guests sang it's praises all night. We were able to consistently speak with staff and change things up as needed throughout the evening. Each staff member was kind and personable throughout the night. We are very thankful that Maceli's was a part of our special day!

Maceli's was excellent and easy to work with. They provided several options for our event and helped us pick out the best one for our needs and budget. The food was excellent and many of our guests mentioned how tasty everything was, particularly the beef brisket!

I cannot possibly recommend Maceli’s enough. We had an amazing experience from start to finish. We originally met with Steve to tour & go over the offerings and pricing. I think we booked the day after the tour. The venue was exactly what we were looking for. It’s beautiful without feeling too formal or too rustic. And the price? Our guests’ jaws were on the floor (particularly for our recently married friends who spent 2-3x what we did). You cannot beat the value that Maceli’s provides. And the food? Delicious! We HIGHLY recommend the Jamaican Jerk Chicken in particular.

Throughout the planning process, we had the pleasure of working with Shelby. She was always responsive, friendly and helpful. She guided us through all of the planning meetings and was a delight. By the end, she felt more like a friend than a sales manager.

For the wedding itself, we worked with Robin (venue coordinator) and Jared (banquet captain). Both were amazing and went above and beyond to help us. With the help of the Maceli’s team, we had the most perfect wedding day. I will be singing the praises of Maceli’s for years to come.

The food was fantastic and the overall setup was super professional. We had short ribs, mashed potatoes, asparagus, cheddar biscuits, and a salad. We had guests tell us it was the nicest wedding dinner they'd ever had.
They were also flexible with us needing to add allergen-friendly meals less than a week out from the event. Our guests with allergies said their meals were delicious as well.

Wonderful staff to work with. The food was so amazing and our guests raved about the food. So much variety and reasonably priced. I have been to many events catered by Maceli's and tje food is always scrumptious.

We had used Maceli's for our daughter's wedding reception and dance ten years ago and were so pleased with them that we had them again this year for our son's wedding reception and dance. The venue is beautiful, the staff is professional, flexible and so easy to work with. The food was super delicious and we had many compliments on the menu. Overall Maceli's is a classy place with hard working employees who are very competent and respectful. I recommend this venue to anyone looking for a place in Lawrence.

Dinner was absolutely delicious and the staff was very on top of getting everything set out and put away on time! Everyone was so incredibly nice and easy to work with, and they really helped make our day even more magical.

We had Maceli's cater our wedding, which was off-site at a different venue. From the very start of working with Shelby and her team, it was an amazing experience! They answered dozens of our questions so that we felt confident with every selection, and they even offered great advice/guidance to steer us in a good direction. We also loved attending their tasting events and we're thrilled that the quality of food day-of our wedding matched up with the quality we experienced at those events.

At the wedding, we had many people come up to us and share that they thought the food was exceptional. And not just for wedding food - they genuinely thought the food was so tasty. Service was also great and they did an excellent job keeping the space clean and cleared.

I can't imagine having a better caterer for our wedding day, and I'm thrilled with how everything turned out.

Not a wedding, but a vow renewal after 50 years together. So, it was a mini-wedding! Could not have been happier with the whole experience. Shelby made planning easy, food was great, staff was excellent the day of our event.

My partner and I hosted our wedding ceremony and reception at Arterra Event Gallery at the end of May and our experience with Maceli's catering service was phenomenal. One guest even commented that it was they first wedding they had attended where the food was actually served hot. Everyone raved about both the Guinness braised beef short ribs and grilled bruschetta chicken breast served at dinner. You are locked into using Maceli's catering if you host your wedding at Arterra, but don't let that hold you back. We could not have asked for a better meal or better service.

We used Maceli's for catering at our wedding, and the food was delicious! They accommodated dietary restrictions and preferences from our guests, and we heard nothing but positive reviews for the food from our friends and family. We also appreciated being able to sample and learn about the food in advance of the wedding, which helped us feel confident in our choices for our guests.

If we had to get married all over again, we'd choose Maceli's for our food!

I can't say enough good things about Maceli's. The food is amazing, the venue is spectacular, and the staff incredibly professional and courteous. We had some challenges that day with a difficult DJ, who was horrible, and the staff including the owner handled the situation beautifully. We had both the wedding and the reception there and it was wonderful. If you are needing a place to get married at or even just a place to have your reception, I highly recommend using them.

This is an amazing all inclusive venue with a wonderful staff and a beautiful ambiance. We postponed our wedding twice because of Covid and they were very flexible and patient with us. They helped us plan our wedding and reception. Jessie was quick to respond to every email and text message I sent. The place is beautiful, the food was amazing, the staff was super helpful, and the lighting was gorgeous. Our wedding and reception would not have been what it was without Maceli’s!

Maceli's catering and venue were perfect for our wedding! The venue looked beautiful and the whole night went smoothly. Mary was great to work with and we loved our planning session with her. Most of all, the majority of complements from the day were about the food! It was so good and one of our top priorities for the day. Thank you Maceli's!

My husband and I had our wedding reception at Maceli's, and we had an amazing experience. Jesse Rice was fun to work with and very accommodating during the planning process. The catering staff the night of the wedding went above and beyond expectations. The whole experience was stress-free, both leading up to the wedding and on the big day. We're so glad we chose Maceli's for our wedding!

Maceli's is a special place to us since we've attended many events there over the years! Jesse Rice is a great person to work with and helped our event go smoothly by always communicating with us and offering help when needed. We had our ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception at Maceli's and they were very accomodating. The members of the staff are warm and friendly and made sure we enjoyed the evening. The venue was beautifully decorated and we only added minimal decor (i.e. our centerpieces). The lighted curtain and paper lanterns added a special, intimate flair to the night and we're glad those amenities were available. Lastly, the food and drinks were AMAZING!! Our guests raved about how tasty everything was, even the special meals for guests with certain restrictions. We couldn't recommend a better venue to have your wedding at!

My husband and I had our wedding reception delayed three times over the course of two years (due to the COVID pandemic) and Maceli's and their amazing staff was with us every step of the way. They worked with us through each replanning effort and made sure that our big day was everything we wanted it to be once the day came, even when our plans on the final day were different from what we had originally thought they would be two years prior. They made every aspect of our big day absolutely seamless from start to finish. Every single person we worked with was professional, kind, and extremely skilled at what they do. We had our reception at Maceli's Banquet Hall and they coordinated the entire day including all of the setup, working with our other vendors, the food, the bar, the sound and lighting for DJ, and the tear-down. It was completely liberating to not worry about anything on our Big Day. Our guests universally raved about the exceptional quality of the food, the service, the venue itself, and how the entire event went off without a hitch! Several guests in attendance who work in the Event Industry told us how impressed they were with the entire event. Maceli's takes pride in everything they do and it shows in all that they do. Maceli's was a pure joy to work with and I would recommend them for any event either at their venue or just for catering. Our wedding reception would not have been the same without them. They truly are more than just a vendor.

Jesse did an excellent job in helping us plan our reception for our wedding, the venue was excellent, food was incredible and the staff was very friendly and provided excellent service. We highly recommend this venue.

You should 100% hire Maceli's for any catering needs you have.

Let me tell you about the unique situation we had and how Macelis went above and beyond... So we started out planning our September 2020 wedding in January of 2020~ a normal wedding with a plated dinner and 125-150 guests. We loved the tasting at Macelis and made our down payment to reserve our date... then as we all know Covid hit. We postponed the wedding to September 2021, and Jesse was extremely flexible in the difficult situation and applied our payment toward our future date (this sounds normal, but not all vendors were as gracious and flexible)... Fast forward to March 2021. Covid is raging on, and we know it won't be gone by September. So we decided to cancel the wedding and pivot to a totally new idea. We rented an airbnb for 4 days in August, invited our 15 closest family and friends and planned to enjoy quality time with a DIY ceremony on Saturday. Everyone agreed to quarantine and test for covid ahead of time, just to make sure we were all safe since there would be immunocompromised people in attendance. I then approached Jesse with a huge ask: Can we change our date once again, apply our down payment towards the new plan, and can you cater meals for 15 people for 4 days instead of 1 large meal for 150- oh and can we do all this virtually and curbside...I was prepared for him to laugh in my face, keep the down payment and send me on my way, but instead he told me he would talk to the owner and see what they could do since they had never planned an event like this. He came back a few days later with meal plans and a quote. Fast forward again to a week before the wedding when I called him to touch base and pay the remaining balance. He told me he would call me back the next day because he wanted to look over the contract again and reduce the cost of our bill... just because. WOW! He also sent me all the reheating instructions for each meal and the packaging was amazing. Not to mention the food was OUTSTANDING. Seriously, everyone raved about every single meal AND their portions were huge so we had plenty of leftover to freeze and are still enjoying the food today. The Macelis team and expecially Jesse is truly as good as it gets.

We had so many last minute changes due to the pandemic and they were very flexible and great especially with our tight budget. The food tasted absolutely fantastic and everything looked so beautiful, the staff was great and everyone helped make our night perfect!

Jesse was amazing to work with! Everything from the venue to the service the night of and the quality of the food was amazing! We did not have to worry about anything so we could enjoy the night.

Everything went so well with Maceli’s dinner service at our wedding. We used their catering service at the Cider Gallery. We got so many compliments about the food! The service was also great! My new husband and I were talking about how we didn't even notice the wait staff (in a good way!) and yet the tables were bussed promptly. It was all great and I would highly recommend this company to cater your wedding!

Maceli’s blew our minds with their quality of service and food. Jesse Rice and his team were all amazing and super responsive. They went above and beyond to be accommodating and made all of our wedding vision came true. All of our guests raved about how good the food tasted and how beautiful the venue was. We had beef barbacoa and airline chicken breast for food and lime margaritas for the signature cocktail which we highly recommend. Furthermore, they were able to adapt rapidly changing Covid protocols which speaks volumes. We will always recommend Maceli’s catering and venue to our friends and family!!!

Maceli’s hosted both of my daughters’ wedding receptions and both times the level of service, quality of food and attention to detail were second to none. They handle hundreds of events every year, but they make you feel like yours is the most important. Jesse made sure every detail was taken care of and was on hand throughout the event making sure we were all having a good time and had everything we needed. He didn’t want me worrying about anything. The event space is beautiful and I love that Steve is constantly investing in it with updated decor, technology, etc. A truly professional group of folks who make you feel like family. Would highly recommend Maceli’s for any event.

I can’t express enough how amazing the food was for my daughter’s wedding. My guests made numerous positive comments that this was the best food they’ve ever had at a reception and I agree. Jesse was amazing to work with, professional, and was quick to respond to every question I had in the planning process. He was so patient as we worked through choosing our appetizers for the cocktail hour and gave us the option for some kid meals for our younger guests that we knew wouldn’t eat an adult entry. It was definitely a hit. And I can’t forget the staff. They were helpful, very efficient, kind, and professional. Just an overall great experience with Maceli’s!

Planning a wedding during a pandemic is crazy, but Maceli’s was with us every step of the way. They were extremely accommodating with every change of plans, every crazy question, and every update in county regulations. In the end our reception was small and intimate, but they helped everything go as smoothly as possible.

Jesse and his team were absolutely amazing and attentive. I would not have wanted my wedding at any other place, it was perfect. They're flexible, responsive, and overall willingness to help with anything made my husband and I's big day stressless. Thank you for everything!

Maceli’s is amazing! We had a contract for our wedding with another catering company and they just stopped responding. Maceli’s stepped in and blew us away with their menu selection and full service. We got married at The Brownstone in Topeka and the food was served warm and perfect! We had a vegan dish, a chicken dish, and a beef dish. We heard so many complements from our guests, and our videographer was so excited when they heard Maceli’s was catering because they loved the food from other weddings. I worked primarily with Jesse and he was awesome. We also got our linen napkins from Maceli’s.

The wedding plans were constantly changing and evolving based on pandemic protocols. We even had to postpone the original wedding by 7 months. Through all of this, Maceli's was there for us. They helped us plan a modified version of my son's dream wedding that more than made for the perfect day. Jesse and Steve went above and beyond to work with all of our vendors to create an absolutely beautiful and memorable experience.

We used Maceli's Banquet Hall Catering in Lawrence Ks for our daughters wedding this November. We were blown away by how delicious the meal was and how professionally the staff handled all the details. They went above and beyond to make sure we were all taken care of and especially our daughters food allergy issues. The staff was very friendly as well. Maceli’s is the perfect caterer for any event! They were so friendly and took care of everything! They came in and did their thing with minimal needs from me, which on my wedding days was exactly what I wanted. They were also super flexible and understanding with any changes we had to make because of COVID. 10/10, would highly recommend to anyone. Worth every penny.

Maceli's is a one of a kind place. Our wedding planning started off as a race. My father was diagnosed with terminal cancer in mid November and we were given a 6-10 week timeline. My husband and I were always planning to get married but just hadn't set any plans yet. As my father was one of our biggest supporters, we knew we had to have this wedding immediately. We called Maceli's and found a canceled event on January 11. From day one, the entire Maceli's team was so helpful in working out details and day-of coordination. Jesse, our coordinator, was absolutely incredible. I can hands-down say that we could not have pulled off a more beautiful or perfect wedding without this incredible team. The entire staff treated absolutely everyone with the utmost respect and kept the entire night running smoothly. We are truly so greatful for such a wonderful experience and cannot wait to have another event at Maceil's!!

Our Feb. wedding was a beautiful, perfect night. the Maceli's dinner and service was top notch. I had nothing but comments about how delicious the food was.

Maceli's went above and beyond during the entire planning process. Coordinators were just a phone call, text, or email away and they would answer any and all questions promptly. The entire team was flexible and willing to rearrange anything to help make our big day perfect. The staff at Maceli's is professional, everything was smooth and efficient. Lara especially, I could rave on and on about how amazing she is. The whole wedding party couldn't compliment our choice of venue enough. On the special day, they had coffee, tea, and water for everyone. I would recommend Maceli's for anyone's wedding.

As the mother of the groom living in a different state, I initially had some anxiety about the rehearsal dinner. Lara calmed my fears and was professional and quick to respond to all of my emails and concerns. Lara arranged for me to set up and decorate early before the rehearsal at the church. Not only that, she let me borrow some cylinder vases as well as mini flower vases and card holders. This saved me a lot of money and time. The food and service were excellent and the rehearsal dinner went off seamlessly. I would highly recommend this venue for any event, especially a rehearsal dinner or wedding.

Maceli's hands down was one of best value for quality of food and service in the industry! From the start Lara and her team were great with communication and helped make it easy to coordinate catering for our offsite wedding. The food was delicious and all of my guests just raved about the food! It is clear that Maceli's cares not only for their customers and their experience but also takes pride in their quality of food and service.

We have nothing but incredible things to say about the entire staff of Maceli's! Working with their coordinators in planning our wedding reception was an absolute breeze! The coordinators were extremely responsive and flexible in order to make sure everything we wanted to make our reception perfect happened! The staff was always kind, courteous, and professional! The day of the reception, we did not have to worry about a single thing. The staff ensured everything was in place and ready to go when we arrived, and kept the night going as smoothly as possible! Not to mention, the food was wonderful! We received SO many compliments about the food, staff, and reception venue! We cannot say enough kind words about the Maceli's staff!

We used Maceli's for our wedding reception, and we are so happy we did! The service they provided us was amazing! Steve, Lara, and the staff were so helpful and great to us and all of our guests. As for the food, it was to die for! We can't stop talking about how delicious everything was, and neither can our guests. We would love it if they opened their own restaurant!

Our reception was something I'll never forget. From all of the details they included, wall lights, lighted curtain, and the lanterns on the ceiling, it was beautiful. We also loved the new stone wall addition! It looked great. Maceli's really went above and beyond for us, and made our day so memorable.

This review will not adequately do justice to how awesome the Maceli's team was to work with. From the very early stages of simply exploring dates and menu options, all the way to the actual Wedding Day, and even beyond. We primarily worked with Lara Kamosa, Laura Wooding, and Jesse Rice. You would have thought that it was their own wedding that they were working on, based on how excellent they were. They exceeded our expectations on every dimension - responsiveness, flexibility, service, sheer effort, etc.
Special kudos to them given the fact that our wedding was unique and complex to begin with, and then bad weather forced us to make a lot of changes in the last few days before the event. Through all of this, they adjusted as needed to make sure the day-of was excellent. They even gave us very valuable advice and asked smart questions about aspects of the wedding that weren't even related to catering.
Final thing to mention, which shouldn't be overlooked, is that the food was delicious! We have heard nothing but positive feedback from our guests about that.
We cannot recommend Maceli's enough. They are absolute pros, and will treat your event with the same level of care and importance that you do.

This place is amazing. They were so accommodating and were one of the cheapest options in Lawrence for the services they provide. Lara was our coordinator for the entire process and was well organized and on top of everything. We threw a lot of last minute changes at her and she took them all in stride and was quick to respond to us. We really liked how Macelis does it all. (So much that we even used them to cater our rehearsal dinner... their food is really good!) They have decor you can use, they provide alcohol, food and do an amazing job setting up for your event. We came in and set up our table decor ourselves but they were more than willing to set that up for us too. They also did an awesome job hanging our decor that needed to be hung. Jesse was our day of coordinator and made our special day so easy. Our bar was run without any issues, our food and desserts were served right on time and he made sure to come around multiple times to make sure there wasn’t anything he could do to make things easier on us so that we could relax and enjoy the evening.

Maceli’s was the perfect venue for our wedding. We walked in clueless about where to start and they helped us organize the wedding of our dreams in just 5 months! The staff was supportive, incredible and knowledgeable. I had no doubts, stress or anxiety the day of the wedding at all! Everything was absolutely perfect. We couldn’t have been in better hands. 100% recommended.

We booked our reception venue (Maceli’s) 14 months out from our wedding date. I had attended multiple events including weddings in which they catered, so I knew first hand the food would be delicious! In those 14 months prior, I was able to meet with Lara and Jesse on multiple occasions to discuss specifics. They were always great about letting me stop in and calm my anxiety over where things would be placed, flow of the day, etc. I had multiple curtain and floral installments to hang and they did that all without question, making my vision come to life.

The day before the wedding there was a need for a last minute appetizer change and they knocked it out of the park. We did Asian themed appetizers and Maceli’s had Asian decor and carry out boxes that looked just like something you’d see at a restaurant, all together it added such a special touch with all the details. People are still complimenting on it and the wedding was two months ago! With 250 guests we knew we’d better not “waste time” eating and instead mingle with our guests, so 15 minutes before our grand entrance we had planned to eat dinner in a little room, alone. It was so special to take a breath together as husband and wife, maybe one of my favorite parts of the day. Lara had our own romantic table for two set up with appetizers and our entree. She waited on us and made sure we were taken care of. The dinner itself was Italian-served family style. It was delicious and warm and even Italian guests in attendance were blown away with the taste.

Throughout the night Lara and staff continued to check in with us making us and our guests feel like such a priority.

The day after the wedding was 12-23 (a holiday weekend) and they allowed us to come by in the morning and pick up our decor items (which was 8 car loads). Due to unforeseen circumstances the time we had arranged, we were unable to make and ended up being 30-40 min late. No one at Maceli’s complained a bit, they were so flexible and for that we are thankful. Every bit of the process working with Maceli’s was smooth. I don’t believe there were any hiccups and if there were we didn’t know about them!

I was absolutely thrilled with my experience with Maceli's! Planning was made virtually stress free, their staff was attentive, but not intrusive at the reception and EVERYONE was blown away by the food!! It absolutely made our wedding unforgettable! Thank you so much for all of the hard work Lara and the rest of the staff!!

We worked with Lara throughout our wedding process at Maceli's and she was amazing! She was willing and ready to answer any questions we had, even though we had a lot as it got closer to the big day. She worked with us to come up with a detailed schedule for the night and was with us every step of the process. The venue at Maceli's is great for if you have a larger family. There is enough space to hold 300, but we only had 160 and it was very comfortable and well spaced out. There is a bistro room where you can have the bar separate from the main area. This gave guests a nice quiet place to escape to during the reception. The staff at Maceli's were very helpful and kept the place looking good all night. The food that Maceli's makes is INCREDIBLE. Everything was so delicious and we got so many compliments. They are also able to accommodate for vegan/vegetarian entrees if you need them. We thought the alcohol pricing here was very reasonable compared to what we saw when looking for venues. The price to rent this venue is also VERY reasonable compared to others. I would highly recommend using Maceli's! We got so many compliments all night and continue to get them about how nice our venue and the food was! So pleased we made this choice.

Maceli's quality was top-notch, and they were very easy to work with. We're still getting comments on how much our guests enjoyed the food and beverage service.

Everyone I worked with in planning my wedding was amazing and made me feel special through the whole process! It was always easy to get in contact with my person and I could not be more greatful! Everything looked amazing and how I had pictured! We still have guests raving about the food, so I would say I definitely recommend Maceli’s!!!

BEST VENUE EVER! And Lara Komosa is the best coordinator ever! They take care of everything, and I mean EVERYTHING! Communicating with other vendors, coordinating when they could come in, set-up, clean-up, picking up everything that is left there, down to washing our personalized dishes we brought in and packaging everything back up so we could pick it up the next day. I had so many ideas and they turned my dreams into reality! If I wasn't sure about something, Lara was always there with advice that proved to be highly successful! She was on top of everything and even helped with some last minute changes that came up on the fly! While the food and alcohol is on the slightly higher priced end, the food was PHENOMENAL and worth every penny!

We had an amazing experience with Maceli's. They were so helpful and always willing to meet us when we had questions or just when I needed to check in to calm down. The food was delicious, all of our guests complemented the food (Majority of them work in the food industry). But overall they we always helpful and was great to work with. Would do it all over again!

I loved working with Jesse and everyone at Maceli's. They were so awesome, from start to finish. I loved that they invited me to a meal tasting and that the tasting had vegetarian fare. Then, throughout the process they were so professional and so much fun to work with! Just prior to my event, they contacted all of the rest of my vendor -- I didn't expect that -- which took that burden off my shoulders during my wedding week. Then, day-of: the food was absolutely fabulous -- even my brother in law who hates everything thought it was great. But, also they accommodated both my vegan and Celiac friends. We worked with Lara at Maceli's where we held our wedding reception for about 100 people and we also used their Bistro for the rehearsal dinner. We have been beyond impressed with the service. Lara is so kind, patient, very professional, and easy to work with. Everything went great! They have a nice bridal room to get ready in, beautiful lighting, are super timely, and the food is delicious!

Our daughter was just married on October, 7, 2017, and we had a lot of out of town guests. Lara Komosa, Associate Director, Sales & Marketing worked with us and we had the best, seamless experience. She was very flexible. Steve was very nice and helped prepare the venue for the wedding. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Everyone enjoyed the food, wedding coordinator, etc... I would highly recommend Maceli's for any of your events.

Our event was wonderful and made all the much better because of Maceli's and the staff. The attention to detail is outstanding and starts with the owner and is apparent in every staff member - event planners, kitchen staff, servers, bartenders, and cleanup/setup. I really enjoyed our wedding because I knew I didn't have to worry about the details. Maceli's had it covered. Professionalism. Classy. First-class service. Maceli's was amazing with my wedding. Lara was so helpful and very responsive to all of my questions! She really helped make the experience calm and smooth. The food was delicious and everything went perfectly according to plan! It was truly a night to remember.

Maceli's may seem pricey, but you practically get a wedding planner too - Kasey and Lara are both amazing. We were thrilled to have such a beautiful but simple venue for our reception and it was also within walking distance of our ceremony venue. The food was great and they allowed us to really show our own personality with the choices we made. We got to do really unique food/heavy appetizer stations. It wasn't too formal or uppity and fit without us and our guests perfectly.

Just had my beautiful wedding here this past Saturday, and it couldnt have been any better. Lara was such a mindful, helpful, and attentive event planner. She was super sweet, and always answered any questions I had in a timely manner. Jessica was also wonderful as my day of event coordinator, and made sure everything ran smoothly. We held our daughter's wedding ceremony, cocktail hour and dinner/dance in Maceli's beautiful venue. The food was delicious and the rooms were perfect for our needs. Lara was amazing and very flexible as she helped us work through the planning period and offered us a variety of choices. She was a delight to work with and was incredible as she helped to make our vision come true. I can't say enough about how wonderful it was that she had everything under control so we could enjoy that magical day! Thank you!

This was a fantastic venue for a Wedding Reception. Lara was extremely easy to work with and was more than helpful throughout the entire reception planning process... Not to mention that she was quick to respond to the many questions or requests that we had. Maceli's tasting parties prior to the wedding were fantastic and led to the meals that we selected for the reception. I always had the perception that the food tastings would always be better tasting than the food on the day of the wedding, but the quality, freshness, and taste of the food for our reception was even better than the tastings we attended.

Maceli's was large enough to accommodate our 185 person wedding with ease. The Bistro was used for the bar which seemed to work out better than I could have imagined. It gave a place to gather for the cocktail hour, as well as a place for family members and friends to converse away from the party going on inside. Our reception even had a two line wedding march (sort of like a conga line) that nearly everyone participated in without becoming cramped for space. One added benefit of Maceli's was the acquisition of the Castle Tea Room. The wedding party was able to sneak in for an hour before the reception for some neat and unique photos. We were lucky to work with Lara and to have our reception at this venue. It was an integral part of an amazing day that we will not forget.

I had my wedding reception at Maceli's and it was beautiful and the planning was flawless. I worked with Lara who took care of all the little details so I could just show up and enjoy our reception. The food was great, the hall was elegant it's definitely worth it!

Maceli's catered our daughters wedding at The Castle Tea Room 5/27/2017. I would give them 10 stars if possible. Lara and the staff went above and beyond all expectations. Lara helped us chose an amazing menu for our event and they were beyond patient and helpful with all of our pre-wedding chaos.They hung all our lights/lanterns/curtains etc and with uncertain weather were very flexible on setup and serving arrangements. The food and service was OUTSTANDING. They also were very conscientious about backdrops and flowers for the grounds due to Winter kill. I can't say thank you enough. We would highly recommend Maceli's for any event you are considering.

Working with Maceli's was super easy. Very quick to respond to any questions and very accommodating. For my wedding I wanted to do a family style but with their buffet menu and they made it happen. I got a ton of compliments on the food and service. I would highly recommend them!!

We had a fantastic experience with Maceli's! Lara was awesome to work with, she was extremely accommodating and kept in touch with me throughout the entire experience. We met several times to go over details and she always greeted us with a smile and had fresh ideas we hadn't thought of to offer when we were stuck trying to decide what option to choose. We went to two different tasting parties there and everything we tried was to die for. We are constantly getting compliments on the food from guests who attended our reception. We chose Caesar salad, Apple Bourbon Pork, Garlic & Herb Beef and Mashed Potatoes. The event space itself was gorgeous. The only thing we felt like we needed to decorate was the tables! The balcony adds a great vantage point for guests seated up there. The bistro room was perfect for the cocktail hour, bar area and photobooth. We had a fairly large reception with 200 guests and it did get crowded during the cocktail hour, but guests were able to find their seats in the banquet room if they felt uncomfortable. I would recommend Maceli's to EVERYONE! Knowing everything would be covered thanks to their professional staff gave me peace of mind throughout the entire planning experience! My wife and I got married on June 25, 2016 and used Maceli's for our reception. My wife was familiar with both the banquet hall and also their food from previous functions. I was impressed with the location following our initial visit and even more impressed with the service provided by all the employees. Our guest count was around 200 and there was plenty of room throughout the entire place. We received so many comments from our guests about how amazing the venue was and how much they enjoyed the food. We worked with Lara as our coordinator. She was phenomenal and always working to meet our needs. We talked with Steve a couple times also. He was very passionate and always wanted to make sure our reception was exactly how we wanted it. I would highly recommend Maceli's.

Overall my experience with Maceli's catering services was excellent. Working with Lara to find the right price point with everything we wanted for our 300+ guests was great - we talked to several caterers, and Maceli's was the only vendor that was able to provide us with the quality of food and service we hoped for within our budget. Because they were so familiar with our venue (Abe and Jake's Landing), service was efficient and I was totally shocked at how quickly the buffet line moved. I received tons of compliments on the food, as well - "best wedding food ever" was a notable one! I really can't say enough about how pleased I was with everything - great service, great quality, and great price point.

Lara was our coordinator and provided helpful feedback and follow up regarding our reception. She was able to set up a tasting outside of their usually scheduled dates to accommodate our travel schedule (we live in Chicago) and the food was impeccable! Everything was served hot and fresh from the kitchen and we were given leftovers at the end of the night. The top of the cake was not given to our family at the conclusion of the night, but Lara was kind enough to drop it off the next day. The space was clean and was plenty of room for our guests.

We were delighted to have our daughter and groom's wedding reception at Maceli's! Both families continue to receive compliments about the lovely venue, delicious food, table settings, service and fun had on July 18th. Professional and responsive, Lara was a dream to work with in planning the bride's wedding vision and we cannot thank her enough! Maceli's handle the 240+ guest without feeling crowded and could easily handle many more in their ballroom and bistro room. To have the facility clean, tables set up with table cloths, napkins, table service with glassware, serve guest, cut the cake and THEN do all the cleanup afterwards is well worth the small amount in rent fee! We are all very pleased with Maceli's and their staff!

We held our daughter's wedding and reception at Maceli's and couldn't be happier with that decision! We loved working with Lara, who was very professional and organized throughout the entire planning process and was always very prompt in returning emails with suggestions or answers to my questions. The event itself was top-notch: the venue was gorgeous and set exactly the mood we hoped for, the food was delicious (we received many compliments, including "This is the best food I've ever had at a wedding!"), and the staff was friendly, welcoming, and very helpful. Maceli's made hosting such an important event so much easier than we ever could have imagined! If we had it to do over again, we would chose Maceli's without a second thought. These people have event planning and catering down to a science--without sacrificing the art!

We used Maceli's for both our rehearsal dinner and our wedding. We had it catered both times to a different location, although we ate at Maceli's for one of their tastings and really loved the venue as well. We had already contracted with our venue at the time of the tasting or else we would have been very interested at having our wedding on location.
The food was INCREDIBLE. Our guests wouldn't stop talking about how delicious the food was especially the beef. The staff were a dream to work with as they were very attentive, communicative, and professional. And last but definitely not least, they have SO MANY options for truly every budget. I think you'd be hard pressed to find anyone better in Lawrence. I would recommend them to anyone and everyone planning a wedding.

We were so happy that we chose Maceli's to cater our reception. The food was AWESOME and we received several compliments from our guests. I had someone tell me it was the best wedding food ever. The service was spectacular. We felt like we got everything we needed through out the reception without being overly bothered. The service staff also communicated very well with our venue and vendors all evening. Lara made the process feel like a breeze and was SO receptive! She eased some of the tension in the first meeting with both our parents by telling funny stories of her own wedding mishaps.

We switched to Maceli's three months before our wedding after our original caterer fell apart, and it was the best decision. Lara was extremely responsive and professional, and the service was wonderful. The food was delicious — so many of our guests told us that it was the best food they've had at a wedding. They also worked well with the bartenders we had hired separately. Overall, it was great working with Maceli's, and we had no complaints.

Maceli's staff were fabulous from the beginning of the planning process through the implementation of our entire event! My daughter's rehearsal dinner was held at Maceli's and Maceli's catered our reception dinner. The rehearsal dinner was beautiful, the food was delicious and the service was top notch! We had a rather large wedding and Maceli's did an excellent job of helping us figure out the logistics of catering to such a large group of people in a family style setting (something important to us!) and still ensuring good, hot food! I would highly recommend Maceli's! Their staff are very professional, their service is superior and their food is very good!

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Maceli's! Not only did they help make our wedding day everything we imagined it to be, but also they helped make it so easy. Lara was the representative I worked with, and she was so wonderful. From the food to the venue to the organization from the day we booked Maceli's was incredible! We could not have asked for a better place to have our wedding. We worked with Lara and she was outstanding from the moment we walked into the venue to look at it! She will do anything and everything she can for you. She is always punctual and responds to e-mails quickly. She gives great advice and is very easy to work with. Everytime we spoke with her I always felt less stressed, happy, and comfortable with our decision to choose Maceli's. We were bummed she could not be there the day of our wedding as the lady who was there was kinda hard to find at times. Also, they do have a bistro room which we used for the cocktail hour. When we booked the venue we knew there was a small wedding reception in that room but were told it would not be a problem. It was not a huge problem but they had the door open the entire night and a few of our family members and friends saw their guests coming into the ballroom. My dad saw 2 headed towards the bar but they saw him watching them so turned around and left. I was not aware of this until after but it did kind of upset me that there was no staff to monitor as I would have been mad if we paid for the other wedding guests to drink. It ended up not being a big deal but just beware that they can have 2 wedding receptions there at the same time. The food is amazing... we have gotten so many compliments on how great the food was (we had the pulled pork, garlic and herb beef, au gratin potatoes, green beans) and how beautiful the venue looked. We could not be happier with our decision to choose Maceli's!

Lara and the staff took great care of us. Our reception looked beautiful and the night went off without a hitch. Lara was so helpful and flexible with all my bridal craziness. It has almost been a month and we are still getting compliments across the board: food, decor, hospitality and much more. I couldn't have asked for a better experience or people to work with. I initially looked at Maceli's for catering only. Little did I know, they also have their own beautiful ballroom and were running an amazing special if you had your event on a Friday or a Sunday. Because the rental price was so reasonable, my fiance and I were able to splurge a bit more with our wedding menu. I worked with Lara and had a great experience planning everything. She reminds you when floor plans or payments are due, which was extremely helpful (No matter how organized you think you are - the last week or so before your wedding are madness). She was also quick to point out ways that we could save a bit of money (e.g. using Maceli's centerpieces instead of a florist's, using their paper lanterns for decor rather than going out and spending money on new ones, letting us use the lighted curtain that a wedding party used the previous day). Steve Maceli is wonderful too! The morning of our reception, he informed us that he had several floral arrangements (orchids!) from an event the previous day that he'd be happy to arrange throughout the venue at no additional charge!

Finally - and most importantly - the food was amazing! I got so many compliments from friends and family. My dad was very impressed and unable to recall the last time he really enjoyed the food at a wedding. Plus, they let you keep your leftovers! I can't think of a single thing I would change about my wedding reception - everything went off without a hitch and Maceli's played no small role in that!

Maceli's took great care of our reception and catering needs. The food was fantastic and the service was at the highest professional level possible. We had alot of out of town guests and every comment was wow what a great place and so elegant and nice. I loved the lighting and the overall atomshpere and how comfortable Maceli's made you feel. The party was 160 persons, there was plenty of room for a DJ and a band plus dancing. The value was priceless. Steve has done a wonderful job with Maceli's. I personally would rate the total package at a perfect 10! Lara was the best with flexibility, insight, and understanding to our wishes.

We had Maceli's caterer our wedding reception at an offsite location. We had the Italian buffet for a little over 80 people. The food was delicious, hot and exactly what we expected. The breading on the Chicken Parmesan was still crisp like it should be unlike other places I have had it from before where it gets soggy sitting in a buffet. The service was perfect and I never had to worry about anything. It was set up and ready to when our guests arrived. We were even about 45 minutes late getting to our reception and the food was still perfect! I don't know how they did it. We had so many compliments on the food. Several of our guests had seconds because it was so good! Working with them before the event was super easy as well. Lara was always quick to respond and made the process a breeze! I would definitely recommend Maceli's and would use them again for a big event!! One of the reasons we picked them was based upon other reviews and their Best of Lawrence awards. They definitely deserve it, because they exceeded our expectations!

I cannot say enough good things about Maceli's. We had our wedding ceremony and reception at Maceli's in January and had an absolutely fantastic time. Maceli's made everything so easy and were very conscious of working within our budget. The staff (we worked primarily with Lara) were wonderful to work with. Lara was always able to answer my questions clearly and quickly and was very flexible with our changing needs. Having both the ceremony and reception at Maceli's worked wonderfully, especially since we had a lot of out-of-town guests at our evening, winter wedding. We had about 150 guests, but the front bistro room worked perfectly as a cocktail hour site while the main room was flipped from our ceremony setup to a reception with ample seating and a dance floor. Lara was great to work with the day of as well, helping us stick to our timeline while allowing us time to enjoy our reception. The site is beautiful and worked extremely well for our needs. In addition, Maceli's catering is fantastic. The food is delicious, plentiful, elegant, and well priced. I could not be happier with how Maceli's handled our wedding from start to finish.

We just had our wedding at Maceli's 3 weeks ago and it was the best experience I could have hoped for. We booked our venue well in advance and on a Friday night and we were able to start the planning right off. We worked with Kasey and she was extremely helpful and would always answer my (multiple) emails within 24 hours and her answers were always in detail. The food was incredibly delicious and could not go wrong with whatever we chose. We were able to get into the venue the day before to set up and everything was exactly how we wanted when we got there. The night of the wedding the staff was very accommodating. We had a main person who checked in on us throughout the night and made sure we had everything we needed. The servers were fantastic and the venue gorgeous. Everyone there was helpful and works with you to create the idea you have. Would highly recommend this venue to anyone. They are (in my opinion) the only place in Lawrence that can comfortably fit in the number they say they can. There was plenty of room in between tables for guests to walk around and people weren't squished in.

Our reception at maceli's was perfect. They worked well with our outside vendors and friends who helped with our reception so we had nothing to worry about. The table settings were elegant and the napkin color we chose fit perfectly with our theme. We had our buffet on the dance floor, and the transition from dinner to dancing was seamless. The lights behind the dance floor made for amazing pictures and just a fun atmosphere. The upper mezzanine was a great area for our guests to relax and have a cool vantage point. Love the venue, love the food, love the staff.

Maceli's was the perfect place for our reception. The Staff was very accommodating and friendly. The food was amazing and I still have guests tell me it was the best food they ever had. The venue is very modern with a beautiful mezzeraine. If you are getting married in Lawrence stop looking this is your place!

The venue itself was beautiful and the food was amazing. My bridal party got ready in Maceli's "bridal suite" which worked out great. I had a very positive experience with Macelis. I started with Kasey and switched to Lara halfway through the process due to Maternity leave. Both were very responsive, helpful and dedicated to accommodating me in every way. I was a little nervous when i was told I would be switching event coordinators, but the transition was incredibly smooth. One thing that I appreciated the most was the direction I was given for my menu. I felt clueless. The menu advice I was given was confident and honest enough, that I felt at ease. I'm glad I trusted them because everyone complimented the food. In fact, I think I got more compliments on the food than on my dress! :) They also did a great job coordinating with my venue, which i found relieving.

I had my wedding reception at Maceli's, and it turned out better than I could have hoped for. The place was decorated beautifully, and they made sure everything was in place. Lara worked so well with me and provided outstanding service. Lara was always there for me and made sure that my reception was perfect. I still have guests telling me that place had the best food they have ever had at a wedding reception. I have people commenting to me that the space was perfect and everything was so delightful! I am truly glad that we had our wedding reception at Maceli's and that we were lucky enough to have Lara help us with everything! Maceli's is overall a spectacular venue with a great group of people working there, that truly want the best for their guests.

Maceli's is the BEST place in Lawrence for a reception! We worked with Lara, and she was extremely helpful in planning everything and throughout the whole reception night! The rest of the staff was also great-very attentive and professional. The venue itself is fabulous; you don't need to add any decorations, and it would still look amazing. The new upper mezzanine level is a great addition that allows guests to see everything without being downstairs with all the loud music. The downtown location is awesome, and there was ample parking available. All our guests raved about the food! We ordered the bacon wrapped pork tenderloin and chicken picatta, but there is no wrong choice with anything Maceli's caters! In addition to having our reception there, we also held our rehearsal dinner in their smaller bistro room, which worked out perfectly! I have nothing negative to say about their venue, food, or service. They made our wedding day so incredibly perfect. I would absolutely recommend Maceli's to anyone in the Lawrence or KC area!
