Best DJ ever!!

Mike was hands down the best DJ we could have ever asked for! He had some people out dancing that I NEVER thought I’d get to see out moving like that again and kept the party going all night. We are so lucky to have been able to book him for our wedding so if he had your date available I highly recommend you book immediately!

Favorite Vendor!

Mike is not only one of the nicest people around, but a fantastic DJ!!! Mike went above and beyond for us: visiting our venue in Portsmouth to plan uplighting, offering numerous Zoom calls to help plan the reception, and worked with our other vendors to make sure everything was squared away. He also had a handy online planner to help us make a must play and do not play list. My guests were so happy that he took requests too! We had a young wedding with a lot of people in their 20's and he played a great mix of throwbacks and current songs! Mike, you are awesome, and thanks for being our DJ! You'll always have our recommendation!

Mike did a fantastic job dj'ing our cocktail hour and reception! He worked with us to make sure he had all the information he needed to guarantee that it would be a super fun and entertaining reception. He helped us out with providing microphones for our ceremony, set up his equipment in two locations (the cocktail hour and the reception) played just about every song we had requested, and worked with us to make all the announcements we asked for. He also had a blast doing it, every time we looked up at the stage he was on, he was dancing and singing along to the songs which we thought was awesome!

We LOVED working with M&M Entertainment when planning our wedding. Michael started the interaction by replying to our inquiry almost immediately, and continued to stay in constant contact throughout the entire process. He made many helpful suggestions, not only regarding the music but for reception details as well, helping us create a timeline of events. During the event, the fire alarms went off and he was very helpful in guiding guests, and even more helpful restarting the party once everyone was seated again. My husband and I are incredibly thankful for all the effort and hard work that he put into planning our reception. If you have an event that requires the services of a DJ, we HIGHLY recommend Michael and his company. You get exactly what you pay for, which is someone with lots of experience who has been doing this for years, and knows how to make your dreams come true!

We couldn't be happier that we chose Mike to be our wedding reception DJ! From his attentiveness to our needs, quick response with emails, professionalism, great ideas and genuine care in making sure our day went perfectly, he completely blew us away. Mike was so fun to work with throughout the whole process, providing us with great tips and feedback. He made us feel so comfortable and in great hands, which was extremely helpful since planning a wedding is no easy feat! We met with him twice prior to our wedding and he was able to accommodate our schedule, even with us living in a different state. When our big day finally came around, Mike was there for us with everything we needed. Our reception music was on point and everyone had an amazing time. He did a fantastic job with announcements and coordinating our timeline with scheduled events, i.e. the bouquet toss, shoe game, speeches, etc. Mike is exceptionally skilled with figuring out what works for a crowd and what will keep the energy going. His skills show that he is a seasoned DJ with plenty of wedding experience, and we would recommend him to anyone. We will definitely miss working with him!

Mike did an amazing job! He stayed in contact with us from start to finish. He answered all my questions and was very easy to get in touch with. He gave us updates throughout the process to make sure we were ahead of schedule. I was a very nervous bride to be so Mike also made sure to be in touch and let us know he was available for anything we needed. We were very flexible with our music choice. I had a couple suggestions but otherwise left it up to Mikes expertise. He DID NOT disappoint us. He kept the crowd going with fun games and interacting with our guests. We had a blast and our guests kept commenting on how great everything went. I would recommend Mike to everyone.

Mike was AMAZING!!! So helpful and responsive during the planning process. Walked me through everything. Answered emails on time and especially toward the end when I was staring to freak out a little. Everyone LOVED him at the wedding!!! So happy we chose him for our special day!

Mike did an amazing, wonderful, over the top job! He was always keeping in touch, even with things not music related. I could go on and on about how great he was to work with, his passion for music, how he truly listened to us and captured the type of music we were looking for. There are too many good things to say about Mike, and on top of that he's AFFORDABLE! You'll feel lucky you got to work with him. I'll hire him again for any type of music needs we have!

Mike is fantastic!!! Very professional, and it's so clear that he has been doing this for over 20 years. We loved how flexible and open minded he was, and his ability to keep things flowing and be on top of any necessary changes throughout the event. Mike was great to work with and we would highly recommend him for any events. He also does a super fun karaoke on Tuesday nights in downtown Portland, make sure to check it out! If he's not already booked, make sure to snag DJ Mike for your next event!!

Mike was an awesome DJ, he entertained our guest of all ages. I had so many people telling me he was a great DJ. Everyone had a great time. I would highly recommend him!

Mike came highly recommended to us by our friends who had booked him for their wedding, and we totally get why they were so thrilled with him. Asking Mike to join our wedding team was one of the BEST decisions we made. We had initially considered just using an iTunes playlist to save money - I can't even begin to say how glad we decided to hire Mike instead. He was so much more than "just the music" at the party. He was our guide in producing a beautiful day and the secret force behind the flow of our celebration. Without us having to think about anything on the big day, he created a moving atmosphere for the ceremony, moved the celebration into a different space for our cocktail hour, prompted the toasts and made our party happen. And the amount of stress he took away from us in the weeks leading up to the wedding and on the day itself was priceless. Absolutely worth it.

Mike is so professional, kind, and responsive. I am still blown away by how considerate and thoughtful he is, how dedicated he was to personalizing our wedding so it felt like ours and not just another party. Unlike other DJs who want to promote themselves, it was obvious that his goal was to support our vision of what we wanted our party to look like. He bent over backwards to make sure that every detail we requested happened. Just one example of how much he cares: we live an hour away from where he lives -- he even drove to meet us in a local cafe so we could go over our plans, discuss ideas, and come up with music choices together.

He is reliable and organized. He has an online planner that you can use to request songs, detail the timeline, input who's giving toasts when, nix songs that you don't want. He gave great suggestions on how to make the day flow better. On top of everything else, his prices are competitive. We have so many more great things to say about Mike but are running out of space. So suffice it to say - he is the best. Book him; you'll be so happy you did. We are.

We couldn't have been happier with Mike Mahoney as our DJ. We were kind of picky with choosing our vendors, and finding a good DJ that kept the flow of our reception going was really important to us. He was very attentive to our needs, meeting with us multiple times before our event. He has a really awesome website to choose the playlist and order of your reception, we had a blast choosing our music! Mike was also really attentive to our guests, he knew exactly what to play and when to play it and did a great job at getting our crowd up and moving. A great DJ is super important to a wedding as it definitely sets the tone for the night. Mike also gave us a CD at the end of the night with all of our important songs on it which was such a special and memorable touch! He has a great professional personality and you can't go wrong having M&M Entertainment at your wedding!

Best DJ Ever. Hands down. A year and a half later, family and friends of all ages and with all music preferences talk about how great the music was at our wedding. Guests were dancing the whole night. I love dancing and the DJ selection was by far the most important vendor for us to pick and Mike exceeded our expectations. He had smooth transitions between every song. He allowed us to make suggestions while building the playlist and offered sound options when we didn't know what to do. He even helped set the overall schedule of the night! He was so attentive throughout the night not only to us but to other guests as well. One example is when my Nana was getting ready to leave the dance floor, he played Frank Sinatra's Summer Wind (her favorite song, which he knew), resulting in lots of happy tears and a moment my whole family will cherish forever. He saw the opportunity and took advantage of it - he went above and beyond the entire night. BEST DJ EVER!

Mike was recommended to me by another DJ which told me immediately he must have a great reputation. Mike was amazing. He was organized, helpful and really listened to everything I wanted. During our reception he kept things going smoothly, running the show and always looking ahead. He sent reminders of things for the wedding including information on other vendors. Whenever I needed anything he was prompt to respond. Mike was one of the big reasons our wedding reception went so smoothly!

Working with Mike was such a pleasure. We interviewed a couple DJ's before we found him and we're glad we did! He was very pleasant and responsive during the whole process. He gave a lot of helpful suggestions. The whole time leading up to the wedding we felt very important. What we appreciated most was Mike accommodating our extensive request list. We wanted a lot of unique music and he got it all and did a great job playing everything at the right time. Mike has a nice and calm speaking voice and doesn't act cheese like a lot of Djs. The cost was very reasonable. We were thrilled and wouldn't change a thing!

Mike is an awesome DJ. He is super responsive and very attentive. My guests raved about the broad spectrum of music he played. He even gave us a CD of our favorite songs afterwards! He is super nice and a hard worker. We had some issues with some duct tape on the floor that we were having trouble removing and he just took care of it for us. He is so awesome.

DJ Mike Mahoney was AWESOME! He was so much more than just a DJ, he got to know us on a personal level and had all sorts of great ideas to help us out - ideas on where to take pictures, ideas for fun décor for our winter wedding etc. Mike also helped us out with lighting and it was perfect. Mike was always quick to respond and he checked in with us throughout the planning process. When the big day finally came, Mike nailed it as a DJ. He listened to our likes and dislikes, kept the evening moving along, and kept people up on the dance floor. No cheesy gimmicks, just great music that people loved. We were so happy to have Mike as a part of our special day.

We could not have been more thrilled with Michael Mahoney as our DJ. He exceeded our expectations in every sense! His music selection was exactly what we had wanted, and even better! He even suggested a song after he read our proposal story and it turned out to be one of the highlights of the night for us! His MC skills are great and he was really good at not only communicating important information and keeping the reception on schedule, but he was great at getting the guests excited. He helped make everyone feel welcome and what really made me happy was to see him dancing and getting into the music from up on the stage. We could not imagine a more talented, genuine, and fun DJ than Michael. Thanks for making our wedding day an unforgettable time!

Mike was my DJ for my 9/6/14 wedding. He was very professional and I choose him because he was so detail oriented. You can complete everything with his online tools. Mike did a great job, and kept people on the dance floor the whole night. Mike went out of his way to find the monogram lighting that I requested. He even had the idea to match the font on my wedding invitation. Beautiful uplighting as well. Everyone had a blast. I would recommend him to anyone. Thanks Mike !

Mike did an amazing job! He's got a great portal to log your songs or he can work off a pre-made list. He set up a few phone calls so we could get on the same page. He even came to meet us the day before the wedding to go over any last minute things. Great guy and great job!

Mike Mahoney did an amazing job with our wedding reception. He was very friendly and respectful during our consultations, and was not obnoxious or egocentric in the least bit.

He was extremely responsive to e-mails, and is just an extremely cool guy. He does karoake and DJ's for many places in the local Portland area.

He had my parents, aunts uncles, friends, and high school friends dancing the ENTIRE night. Even when my husband and I were doing our spotlight dances people only moved to the very edges of the dance floor, and then jumped right back on after we finished our song.

Mike is wonderful, and even provided colorful lights without us expecting it. I would recommend him for any type of event, with an older, younger, or mixed generation crowd.

Mike was wonderful! We planned our wedding from across the country, and he was so flexible with our schedule during the planning process. I felt good booking him even without meeting him in person, and he lived up to our first impressions! During the reception I appreciated how he kept things running on the schedule we had outlined, but was never pushy or disruptive - he just made things happen and everyone kept on having fun!

DJ Mike Mahoney was by far the most courteous, professional, and thoughtful vendor we hired for our entire wedding. He was very patient with my wife and I as we were a little late in actually organizing the event and music, but made sure there was no confusion in what we wanted. Paying him was also a breeze, great value for his service. Of all the things to worry about in planning a wedding, the DJ in our case caused the least stress. Not only was Mr. Mahoney extremely helpful in planning, but at the actual event he played the music at a perfect noise level which let guests have fun dancing but also enjoy conversation. After the wedding, Mr. Mahoney gave my wife and I a CD with all the special dances' songs and a card of congratulations. Truly, I could not be happier with hiring Mr. Mahoney for our wedding DJ. If I ever need a DJ again, I will go to him first without hesitation. If you want a great DJ, hire him!

All of our guests are still talking about the great party that was our reception, and it was all thanks to the wonderful work of Mike. He did a fantastic job with dinner music, dancing work, and karaoke, switching between songs seamlessly and reading our guests responses to keep everyone happy, dancing, and having a great time. Importantly, he was also great to work with and was very reachable. We would recommend him to anyone looking for an amazing wedding reception with fun music sure to keep your guests having a great time.

Thanks Mike! All of our guests said our wedding was the party of the year and raved about the rockn' good DJ! Almost 100% of our guests were on the dance floor from the first song to the last and couldn't believe how fast the hours flew by ... we had such a great time!!!

It was our absolute pleasure to work with Mike and Priscilla on our wedding day. Mike listened to every want and concern, and everything played out on the wedding night just as we had discussed in consult and I remember thinking to myself, "Wow! This is exactly what Mike and I had talked about together before the wedding, and he's doing it perfectly!" Never did I have to worry and never was I distracted from enjoying my party because of the great attention to detail and care Mike demonstrated to our event. I even liked how, when we were surprised by a fireworks display from my groom's best friend, Mike played Katy Perry's "Firework". It was such a nice touch and demonstrated how thoughtful and engaged he was in our event and now, every time I hear that Katy Perry song, I am brought back to our wedding night, and to the lovely fireworks surprise from my groom's best friend. Mike is the man!

After contacting and researching many DJ's we are so happy we picked Mike to emcee our reception at Grace! Mike was nothing but professional from the start! He has a great music planner you can use on his website and you can request and block songs.
At our reception he was a consummate pro and joy to work with. He had the place dancing their feet off! I was dancing all night long with my husband. He had a great mix of (per our request) modern dance (Lady Gaga, Usher, Black Eyed Peas..), oldies (Elvis, Marvin Gay, Stevie Wonder), and some alternative (One Eskimo, The Black Keys, Jack White).
He covered it all for us and he would very unintrusively let my husband and I know when special announcements and dances were coming up.
I had at least 5 people tell me they had blisters on their feet from dancing... myself included! Now that's a great DJ! Thanks so much, Mike!

Mike was great! He listened to everything we wanted and gave us ideas on how to handle our concerns. He is very responsive and any time I had a question he was ready and able to assist. We had different entry songs for each wedding party member and switched it once, so it got a little mixed up, but other than that there were no issues. Our play list was played and I didn't hear anything from the do not play list. Overall, Mike knew what to play for the crowd and handled it well and we were happy.

Mike worked our wedding in August of 2011 and did a phenominal job. He was professional, flexible, reasonably priced and most importantly quarterbacked an awesome wedding celebration. I couldn't recommend him more highly! Very easy to work with.

We were having a non-traditional/Halloween-themed wedding and didn't want to do all the standard wedding rituals (clinking glasses, bouquet/garter toss, etc.). When we talked with Mike about our day he had wonderful alternative suggestions to the more traditional aspects (we had people tell Halloween jokes to get us to kiss instead of clinking) and he immediately got our style and sensibility and ran with it! The dance floor was never empty at the wedding and Mike even got dressed up in a Halloween costume for us and coordinated with a surprise guest Elvis impersonator that one of our friends got for us. He was professional, punctual and extremely pleasant. I'd recommend him without hesitation for a wedding in Maine!

My husband and I have eclectic musical tastes – we love jazz and the big band standards, Bob Dylan, Elvis Costello, he loves 80’s english punk, and I’ve got a soft spot for old school rap. And we’re not big on any of the traditional (sappy) songs that get played at weddings. So, yeah, we’re probably not the easiest couple to please – but somehow EVERY SINGLE SONG Michael played was perfect!

The transitions from background music to ceremony to cocktail hour to a dance floor filled reception were seamless, and we had a great time. My dad - who I've never seen dance at weddings or any other family event - was on the floor all night!

We thought Michael was very responsive to e mails and our “vision” of the music for the night, and couldn’t be happier with the service he provided. I would highly recommend M&M Entertainment for any event.

Mike was the BEST! I was a "leave it to the professionals" type of bride and I left it up to Mike to give my husband and I, and our guests the night of our lives - he did not disappoint. He was extremely easy to work with, listened to what we wanted and made some great suggestions. We had a packed dance floor the whole entire night and our guests kept commenting on how great he was. I would reccomend Mike to anyone any day of the week - now I just have to find another reason to hire a DJ!

Mike was great. He also emailed and called me back promptly, and was so patient with my never ending questions. He met us out at our ceremony place to go over things since he was unable to go to the rehersal dinner. He also had an online program where I could add and take off songs to the "play list" and "do not playlist" whenever I wanted. At the wedding, he was jammin' to the music behind his station, and he actually got out there and danced to one of group dances! (the new one that is out!) It was hilarous, and we all had such a good time.

Mike really listens to you in the planning stages and has a lot of great suggestions. He pays careful attention to detail, right down to the pronunciation of the wedding party names. We could not have been happier. He kept my wedding dancing (and singing along) for the entire night!

I would most definitely recommend M&M Entertainment to anyone! He put himself out there for us, whatever we wanted we got and was very enthusiastic about everything! Came up with fantastic ideas and was extremely helpful in every way! Very prompt and professional, great cost. I thought we got the best bang for our buck! Outstanding service! Mike was the greatest! He delivered the perfect set of music throughout the whole evening. He was also there for the wedding ceremony music. He was very accommodating. He followed through with all of our requests for our wedding day. I would highly recommend him. I had so many compliments on the DJ.

We were extremely happy with M&M Entertainment. Mike kept our party dancing all night, and we even extended the party for an additional hour. Some of our wedding attendees even booked him for their events since they were so impressed by his style. It was so nice to have our music go exactly as we had planned.

Mike was fantastic during our wedding. He answered all of our questions and kept in contact as the wedding day was closer. We didn't have a set playlist in mind except the critical songs of the event so we gave the reigns to him. He had people enjoying the music ranging from the 1930's to current music. Hell, even the staff members commented about the music. The music maintained the relaxing, fun atmosphere of the wedding and we couldn't have asked for anything better. Towards the end of the night, the staff and guests were on the dance floor up until the last minute. It was a great time and I would highly recommend Mike.

Mike Mahoney was awesome as our DJ for our Oct 2010 wedding! He listened to our requests which we loved. We had heard stories of some DJ's just playing what THEY want to play and we didn't want to run into that. Mike assured us he would take our requests into account using his online request system and he definitely did. Everyone had a blast and danced the night away. He even let my husband grab the mic for a little karaoke! Thanks Mike!

DJ Mike did a fantastic job hosting our wedding on June 14th. He catered to our every need, including 3 different set-ups to provide music in 4 settings (outside by ocean, ocean by pool, inside dinner music and inside dancing) and a last minute request to have video projection capabilities on site. He was very understanding of our tastes in music and tailored his selections wonderfully to each of our settings. He was very responsive leading up the wedding, quickly addressing the sometimes off the wall questions we tossed his way. Mike went out of his way on a number of occasions, traveling to our wedding site in advance of the wedding to ensure he had the appropriate equipment and set up in mind (2 hrs from his office).

We would certainly recommend Mike to anyone looking to host a wedding or any other type of party.

Michael was a wonderful dj. My guest comments on how great he was all night. He really seemed to get a good feel for the music we like based on the special songs we'd picked and the song lists that we gave him.
I am very picky when it comes to music and feel that music really helps make the memories. I gave him a very long must play list and a list of songs and artists I did not want to hear. I did notice throught out the night that I was hearing a couple of songs that were on my do not play list. And there were a lot of must play songs I did not hear. They may have been played when I was talking with guest, etc. and I just didn't hear them. But I heard a lot of songs (that were great) but not on my play list which leads me to belive he didn't play everything I wanted to hear. Also my husband and I did a second dance to "Moon Dance" which I told Michael I wanted to do when it was dark and the moon was out. We ended up being called to the dance floor when it was till very light outside. So now my two dance picuture from the wedding look the same rater than one in the daylight and one in the moonlight like it should have been. But that's just me. Like I said I am very picky about these kinds of things. Most people may not be botherd by any of that. All in all I thought Micheal did a wonderful job and I would definitly hire him again. He kept everyone on the dance floor all night and was there for 8hrs at a very resonable price. I would recomend him whole heartedly.

Very good at what he does- everyone was very entertained our whole wedding ceremony! There was not one minuted that someone wasnt on the dance floor! Great ideas to get everyone involved.

Fantastic music played at our wedding! Lots of dancing, lots of people not wanting to leave the dance floor. We received lots of compliments on the music. Loved having the opportunity to choose songs that we 1) definitely wanted played, 2) strong suggestions, and 3) please do not play. Great music and dancing all around!

Didn’t want to be disappointed

Our planning process with Mike was great and we appreciated his willingness to take our input using his online portal and a few phone calls with us. He seemed flexible and responsive in the lead up to the wedding. But sadly, while I had a sense he would be a solid DJ for us, the performance at the event was quite a big let-down.

We had a pretty simple timeline for the reception, yet Mike seemed flustered and not on top of things. Here is a list of things that were done incorrectly or omitted entirely at our wedding:

- Short playlist of 5-6 songs to be played while guests arrived at ceremony were never played. Instead Mike was setting up still, when he had said he’d arrive 3 hours before the event and could set up the ceremony site quickly, even in “7 minutes” if needed.
- No speaker was set up for our cocktail hour outdoor spot and no music was played at all
- Uplighting was not working during dinner
- We had a cute game arranged for during dinner where we would play a set of instrumental songs from tv/movies for guests to guess. He announced the game before really having everyone’s attention, then fumbled for 5-10 minutes while he worked out something on the computer and no music played at all.
- Then he played 3 of these songs (incorrect versions!), and we had to cue him for our first dances (one of the few timelined things all night). My young daughter got hurt playing on the dance floor and we temporarily walked out, yet Mike had not even noticed this happen and instead announced the family dance — we weren’t even in the room!
- Incorrect version of our first dance song
- Then he forgot about going back to the instrumentals during dinner (abandoned the game entirely) and just started playing dance music, including several of our key “must play” favorites while no one was on the dance floor and we were all still eating.
- The only other 2 planned things were a “shoe game” and anniversary dance. Neither of these was ever done.
- Cake cutting was announced with no direction as to where the cake was.
- Our requested “last dance” song was played at the end of the night but then followed up with one more song.

The music was just okay. There were no transitions between songs, just dead air. Mike did very little to engage the room directly. When the dancing energy was super high, he’d suddenly put on a slow song, which made no sense.

While I didn’t want to write a poor review, I am so surprised by all the rave ones and thought this honest assessment could be helpful for other couples. Maybe we caught him on a bad day. Who knows. We’re all human. But this was a bummer and it’s just too bad all around that it did not work out. Thankfully our friends and family still had a wonderful time and that is what matters.
