Hire this vendor to plan and coordinate 40th birthday party
I met Merlene 14 years ago. I hired her as my wedding planner because of the beautiful job she did with my friend's wedding. Fast forward to 14 years later I commissioned Merlene to help my husband plan my 40th birthday party. I used her services for decor and day of coordination. Merlene gave us for the 2nd time a beautiful memorable event completely stress free. It was so nice to arrive and be the guest of honor enjoying the venue and all my guests. Merlene took care of everything and kept the party flowing so no one felt that awkward moment of "now what's next". I am looking forward to working with Merlene on future family celebrations. Her service is amazing and she can work with any budget.

Beautiful Florals!
As an out of town bride, it would have been impossible for me to plan a Miami wedding without an experienced wedding planner. Thankfully, I had Merlene! I was somewhat of a hands-off bride - I had a general vision, some Pinterest inspiration, and pictures of supermarket flowers (lol) which I shared with Merlene, but I was not very particular about the details. I figured that I had hired a team of professionals for my day and I trusted them to do their jobs.
I had one in person meeting with Merlene after hiring her as my wedding planner where we walked through her very thorough questionnaire and talked budget for the florals. She really did everything she could to work with me to make my vision come true within budget including offering the use of several freebies (candleholders, tealights, etc).
I was happy I gave Merlene the freedom to create because she suggested some great ideas I wouldn't have considered such as hoop floral arrangements for the bridal party which turned out great!
On my wedding day, Merlene really came through! When I walked into my venue on my wedding day, I could not believe how she had transformed a few pins and general ideas into this breathtaking scene. The flowers and all the decor were perfect. Like I said, I was not overly detailed in my instructions, so it was a pleasant surprise to me on my wedding day. So many guests commented on how beautiful everything looked and how smoothly the day ran, and I could not have done that without Merlene!

Amazing Event Planner
Merlene is the bomb.com. She helped me plan a surprise vow renewal for my husband. I live in Wisconsin and I was a little skeptical with putting all my trust in someone who lived so far away. But I have to say, Merlene made me feel comfortable. She was very professional and very detailed. She never left me out of the process and always concerned my opinions. M.E.I. Floral Designers & Event Planners are definitely a cut above the rest and I am thrilled I chose them to assist us in planning our wedding! Merlene & I hit it off right away and she is definitely a dynamic being. She was professional, flexible, available, patient and just an all-around easy person to get along with, which is super important when it comes to choosing an event planner. She would even send me ideas/suggestions to help get my creative juices flowing and aid in the process of creating my wedding vision, but was never pushy and did not try to impose. Her team - Sharon and Yvonne - was kind and accommodating the day of the rehearsal and wedding day (even when I was obsessing over the reception doors being closed lol... they kept their cool. Thanks for understanding ladies). One of them even helped calm me down by offering encouraging words while I was in the church's prep room getting ready to walk down the aisle.
I would recommend M.E.I. Floral Designers & Event Planners any day, and if you're looking for a full service event planning company, book them! They will not disappoint!

"We do it all!"
My husband and I selected a destination wedding and had no clue where to start. After countless hours of research, I selected Merlene for decorating and flowers.
In recalling everything we did together before writing this review, I typed Merlene's name into my email search, there were 23 search results. Of those 23 emails, 3 had over 20 responses each.
Merlene was THAT dedicated to keeping everything organized and tailored to our personalities. During our first consultation, Merlene explained very clearly what she could and couldn't assist with, and even offered services we hadn't even thought of. Our decorations, centerpieces, bouquets, boutonnieres, arch, pipe and drape and even day-of planning were all taken care of by Merlene.
When we lost our catering manager a month before the wedding and when we got reassigned a new entertainment consultant, Merlene was there to support us and keep us on track. She also coordinated very well with vendors with strong personalities. Everything happened on time and was flawless, even when the inevitable (rain in Miami) happened and the ceremony setup had to be moved inside 15 minutes before the wedding.
Merlene helped make our dream wedding happen and we couldn't thank her enough.

Wow! Merlene (MEI Floral Designs) truly went above and beyond. MEI came recommended through another friend who also loved their experience from their wedding. They mentioned MEI to me months before, but I forgot to check them out. Then I ended up on Wedding Wire, doing my own search for florist who were not too costly and came highly recommended. I emailed and met with Merlene and fell it love. I felt like she understood my vision and knew ways to make it all work, without breaking the bank. I reached back out to my friends from a few months back, to let them know I decided to go with the same florist they used, and I'm so happy I did! Merlene/MEI Florals is truly the best. I loved my chuppah, ballroom, bouquets, everything!!! She was easy to communicate with and always seemed available.
If you are looking for a florist that truly wants you to love your day, will work with your budget, and has great ideas to make your vision even better, then immediately message MEI and hire them for your event. You will NOT be disappointed.

When I first started planning my wedding, I really didn't intend to hire a wedding planner or even a day of coordinator. But when I met Merlene at my first bridal show and I was so enamored with her that I pretty much said sign me up!! She told me about her own wedding where she was so busy in the details that she didn't get to enjoy her big moment, and because that was a really big fear of mine I decided it was definitely worth it! It was hands down the best decision I made for my wedding day! Merlene is excellent and her level of professionalism made me feel really comfortable knowing everything would be taken care of. The week of the wedding and the morning of she reached out to all my vendors so that I could relax and be stress free! She led the rehearsal the day before and my entire family gave rave reviews because it was fun and humorous and a great way to start the wedding festivities! During the actual wedding, her and her team were pretty much everywhere - making sure guests received their specific orders, coordinating with the kitchen, helping with any snags with my dress, making sure my groom and I were well fed etc. She took care of everyone and I felt incredibly relaxed knowing that her detailed eye would not miss anything! The level of customer service and quality of work you get with MEI will surpass your all expectations. This is a passion not just a job for Merlene and her team. MEI believes in giving you the absolute best even if that means she has to be stay up the night before your wedding until 4am. Merlene was a wonderful florist who helped me out a great deal! Since I was on the other side of the world when planning my wedding and only arrived the day before, it was a great relief to know the flowers in such capable hands.
Merlene spoke to me on the phone several times and even provided helpful tips for the pictures and the size of my flower headband.
Hopefully I won't have to get married again, but I would choose Merlene again any time!!

I cannot imagine going through the wedding process without Merlene. She was not only our wedding coordinator and floral designer, she was our advocate, sympathetic ear, and a friend during the entire process.
Her years of experience in this industry is a huge asset. We had a couple of issues with our venue and it's because of Merlene's expert knowledge and experience in the wedding industry that allowed her to swiftly resolve those issues to our liking. On the day of, I was a relaxed bride and was confident that everything would go smoothly, and it did. She ensured we started on time and stuck with the timeline.
Not only is she a skilled wedding planner, she is a talented floral designer. I showed her pictures of my inspiration and had faith that she would deliver. And boy did she deliver! I don't think I've seen arrangements more beautiful than the ones she created for us (and I promise it's not because it was my wedding day.) Our guests all commented on the beauty and uniqueness of our floral arrangements.

For someone who had a small budget and a grand vision of what I wanted (so much so that a lot of vendors wouldn't even bother with a quote), I was very pleased with how my flowers turned out. Let me say first off, that as I planned my entire wedding, there was not a single person who was more responsive, understanding, and accommodating than Merlene. I had to have emailed her 100 times, going back and forth trying to figure out what flowers I wanted, asking her to identify pictures of flowers, picking out different greenery, switching this and that and just changing my mind a million times. I was a mess when it came to flower planning and Merlene, never, not once, made me feel like an annoyance (even when I was annoying with myself!). Her personality is just amazing and she is the sweetest person ever. There were a couple issues with getting the exact color shades of the flowers that I had picked the day before the wedding, and she communicated with me immediately and we worked around the problem successfully. I so highly recommend her!

I used M.E.I for wedding this past July. Ms.Merlene was so helpful as I had no clue what the vision was that I wanted nor did I want to spend a ridiculous amount of money. She was able to help me lock in my vision and I loved every bit of the decor. I let her have creative freedom and she knocked it out of the part. She was always there to answer my random and limitless questions and was ever so sweet in calming me down. I would use M.E.I again in a minute! They truly are one of the best!

I had the pleasure of working with Merlene a few years ago with planning a special weekend getaway as an anniversary gift to my husband and decided to utilize her services once more for our 11yr wedding anniversary dinner. I wanted to plan a surprise dinner event that consisted of approximately 110 guests for my husband. I must admit, I will never ever plan an event, special occasion and/or private affair without her Merlene – never!!
Her level of professionalism, expertise, creativity, paying attention to details, knowledge, and courtesy, goes without say. She’s very warm, invited, approachable, and easy- going and loving as well – she’s not an event planner, we have developed an everlasting friendship.
She was very instrumental with organizing and coordinating everything for our special occasions and creating the ultimate everlasting memories for my husband in every facet of hosting a surprised dinner – invitations, floral arrangements, music, selecting and ordering materials, negotiating rates, coordinating the sequence of events, following up with the guests and vendors and all facets of the business to ensure we would have world top notch service and once again the ultimate experience that will never be captured nor duplicated. It was more than I could ever imagine and received so many compliments from our friends and family about the event.
I would like to send Merlene a very special thank you from my husband and I – I love you Merlene!!!! She ROCK!!!
BTW, the amount I would spend is "priceless"!!!

Everything about our experience with Merlene at MEI was wonderful. We hired MEI for coordinating day-of for our wedding reception, as well as setting up all the decorations, floral arrangements, lighting etc.
From the very beginning of my wedding planning process Merlene was there for me. If I had a question she had an answer, and always replied to my email within hours. More than that, Merlene was always warm and friendly and a joy to work with.
In the end my wedding and reception went off perfectly, and looked like a fairy tale, I couldn't recommended MEI more highly.

Merlene is the best wedding/events planner in S. Florida. She is very creative, flexible, works well under pressure and performs her tasks with such excellence, I'm awe-struck. The decorations provided at the event for our elderly members was breath-taking; the centerpieces were a sight to behold. There was such an ambiance in the room that created the desired effect. The crowd enjoyed themselves immensely and ranted about the decor and nights' festivities. I highly recommend her for future services.

I contacted Merlene to design centerpieces for my daughter's go away party - the only thing that was a must was sunflowers. When I got home I was blown away by the elaborate centerpieces she had designed. It was out of this world! Her centerpieces were the talk of my event the entire night. M.E.I's passion for her work is exceptional. The service and support I received exceeded my expectations on every level. I remember calling in with an idea and she would bring it to life by sending me pictures of my vision along with others for me to see my options. Never too busy to speak to me or research an idea. She traveled with me to Puerto Rico prior to the wedding to see the venue and made sure that she gave me my perfect wedding.
My wedding day was truly a fairy tale. I felt like a princess. I believe I had the most beautiful bouquet ever made. The center pieces, the table linens, souvenirs, every aspect of my wedding was thought of and taken care of before I even said the word.

Merlene did the flowers, decor, and planning for my wedding on 8-11-18. We hired her because we felt an instant connection, and I’m glad we did! She was honest throughout the whole experience, which is what we were looking for. During the process I could literally text Merlene any time of day. And I am a TYPE A PERFECTIONIST type of person. I literally have to communicate everything to feel totally comfortable. Merlene was never too busy for my questions, which felt really good, especially the weeks right before the wedding. On the day of, everything was beautiful, the flowers were better than I imagined and she nailed my vision. I wouldn’t have changed a thing. (And I had a grand vision lol). Most importantly I enjoyed working with her and that’s what truly matters on your big day.

I was very blessed to find this company a month before our wedding as the florist that I booked 5 months in advance dissapeared and was unable to reach. I spent nights on weddingwire looking for a florist and Merlene was the first one to reply to my email. We met immediately and she made all of my wishes possible altough our budget was not too big. She was very flexible and we were very blessed and happy about the way our flowers looked on the wedding day. They didn’t look exaclty as I pictured them but the years of experience Merlene has helped her make everything come out beautiful. Most of all we appreciated her attitude, she was always ready to work with us and easy to reach which was very important as our time was short and we had a lot to do. We are definitely recommending her for any couple looking for professionalism and flexibility!

I would never hire merlene again
According to our contract, Merlene was supposed to 1) come to the ceremony rehearsal, 2) do florals, 3) set everything up, 4) do day of wedding coordination, and 5) break down afterwards:
1) She never showed up to the ceremony rehearsal
2) she delivered flowers a few hours prior to the wedding. She was contractually bound to provide a specific number of flowers. She fell short of the flowers she said she would provide. She said some of the flowers broke (even though the planters were made of plastic, so i’m confused on how they broke?)
3) did not do day of wedding coordination. In fact, she never showed up to the actual ceremony, wedding or reception at all. She was only there for a few hours prior to the wedding, and left for the actual events.
4) day of wedding coordination was not provided. She failed to come to the wedding, ceremony, or reception at all
5) she never completed “breakdown” or cleanup of flowers, as she was not present.
Overall, Hiring MEI was a huge mistake. Having to set up my wedding, and not having a day of coordinator present was very stressful, and ruined my wedding experience!
