A magical wedding photographer

Our wedding photos from Jacq and Love in Theory turned out absolutely stunning—artistic yet true to life, capturing all the memories from our day in the most magazine-worthy way possible. Just browse through Jacq’s portfolio—her work speaks for itself! And Jacq herself is a lovely human. She was friendly, organized, and professional throughout the planning process and a calm presence on our wedding day, which is so important. She takes immense pride in her work and went above and beyond for our wedding day shoot, bringing in a framed prom picture of us for a cute then and now photo, a beautifully decorated hanger for my dress, and a third photographer to deal with the tricky lighting situation at our venue. We had a wonderful experience with Jacq and would hire her again if we could!

Excellent Experience

My fiance and I highly recommend working with Jacq and Love In Theory!

Our engagement shoot take place in November and it was a very enjoyable experience. Ahead of time, Jacq helped us to identify locations that matched our personalities and vibe. Jacq is quick to respond and highly communicative, which makes her extremely easy to work with. We visited the spots we identified ahead of time and we also wondered down various streets looking for other good back drops. We felt very comfortable during the shoot with Jacq only giving us a little bit of coaching on how to place our bodies. Nothing was contrived and we truly felt that Jacq was trying to capture us and our relationship.

East Village Love

We did our engagement photos with Jacq (and will be doing our wedding photos soon!) in the East Village in NYC. Our session was nothing short of great. She was personable, professional, and flexible with our ideas to make sure we were able to shoot in the locations we wanted. She helped guide us and made us feel relaxed throughout the whole process, and of course, our photos turned out amazing! Her attention to detail really showed!

Photographer Turned Friend!

Jacq is a wonderful, collaborative partner! Beyond the fact that her photography aesthetic is beautiful, she is also such a warm, friendly person to work with. We had our engagement shoot in November, and the experience was everything we could have hoped for. In addition to the actual photo shoot and deliverables, the little touches that Jacq adds to the relationship are so adorable and appreciated -- delivering our flash drive in the cutest box ever, sharing gifts for our basset hound... love her. The BEST - period

We hired Jacquie for our engagement shoot - she caught our eye because I felt she really captured the emotions and feeling of a couple, which is exactly what we wanted! While the classic poses work for some, we wanted an authentic session that showed US as a couple. WOW did she deliver!!! From before our shoot even started I felt a connection to Jacquie and a really comfortable around her. We went over our time without even realizing because it just felt like my fiance and I were on a date having an amazing time - all of which shows in our pictures. Jacquie made us laugh authentically, and for two people that don't like our photos taken...it truly felt like she was just talking to us. I don't even remember her snapping over half the photos she did. Jacquie was not only extremely professional, insanely talented, but her ability to make you feel comfortable, and actually promote you to be your authentic silly self was something I've never experienced before. As soon as we had our wedding date set, we booked her for the wedding as well! You can tell from first contact that she truly cares about you and what you want. We're still in contact now about many life things, and I know we will continue to be so long after our wedding is done.

On top of that, Jacquie goes above and beyond in all aspects of the photography. It is her business, and she shows you that you're not just another number, but a really special part of her year and life. The follow-up after our engagement, and even the adorable way she sends you your photos all made me feel like the most beautiful bride-to-be all over again.

If I could hire her to do 10 engagement shoots I would - simply put: Jacquie is the best. HIRE HER - SERIOUSLY!!

To put it simply, Jacq was great. Our engagement shoot with her was fun and memorable, mainly because Jacq was as thoughtful, flexible, and deft as we'd hoped for in a photographer. Working with us before the shoot, she matched our enthusiasm for a certain style and location, but we were really happy to have her own creativity and expertise suffused throughout the session. We organised our wedding at short notice from the UK and came across Love In Theory during our search for an NYC photographer. We organised a Skype call with Jacquie and felt really confident we were going to get a great service. We were absolutely right! The communication has been brilliant throughout. Jacquie is super friendly and proactive and she really took the time and effort to get to know us which has made the whole experience feel really personal. Gui took our engagement and wedding photographs and we couldn’t have asked for a more friendly, enthusiastic and talented photographer. He made us feel really relaxed and had some great ideas for locations and poses.
The pictures Gui took have captured some truly beautiful moments. We are so grateful and overwhelmed by just how incredible they are.
The after service has also been amazing. Jacquie has kept in touch and kept us updated all the way through. Our usb has been delivered and we are over the moon. The pretty little presentation box, cards and gifts are just so gorgeous and thoughtful! The whole experience has been more than we ever could have imagined or hoped for.

My husband and I booked Love in Theory after seeing how amazing our friend’s wedding photos were. Jacq was the best! Very accomdating- we had a few hiccups at our wedding and jacq totally played it like a boss and got amazing photos of us! She captured all the moments I missed. Def got the mood and style of both our personalities ! Best of all she calmed me down when things weren’t going exactly how I planned. I would say best wedding photographer ever!

We had the absolute best experience with Jacq/Love in Theory. In addition to going above and beyond prior to the wedding (e.g., Multiple meetings, follow ups, questions about our back story and personal preferences), she truly made us feel like she cared about us as humans and was just as invested in our love story and dream wedding. Jacqui was absolutely amazing. She made this the greatest experience a person should have on their wedding day. We touched base quite often and I really felt at ease by the time our day came. We got married on 10/21/17 in upstate NY at a Farm and Jacqi and Gui provided us great energy both the day prior and day of. They scouted out our venue the day prior and we talked through what we envisioned the day would be like and sure enough, everything was flawless. They were organized, helpful and gave great direction. They really helped capture our day in the best way possible. Everyone loved them and we really couldn't be happier with our pics. Loved them!! I can't stress enough how awesome, talented, generous, sincere and caring Jacq is.She is such a dedicated person; despite being under the weather, she photographed our wedding with full gumption. From helping me plan the timeline to coming up with hanger ideas for my sari photos to being patient with my chaotic Indian/Bangladeshi family, she was the best! She even came over to my place the day before during my henna and hung out with us and tried laddoos :). It's so important to be comfortable around your photographer during the wedding, since you are letting them into your personal space, with Jacq it was really easy and enjoyable. She felt like part of the family. As for the pictures, her portfolio speaks for itself. Her lighting, angles, composition and her style are all amazing and unique. Her love and talent for photography shines through all her pictures. We love you Jacq and we can't thank you enough.

Gui unfortunately couldn't be part of our wedding but James replaced him and James was such a darling. He is genuinely nice person and makes you feel so happy and comfortable around him. Everyone at the wedding mentioned how nice James was. We can't wait to see all the crazy dancing photos James took!

After being engaged for a little over a year, my fiancé and I decided to have a small elopement in NYC. We had no time to plan anything and we had no budget. We knew the most important thing to us was the memories. In that, we decided to find the best photographer to capture our intimate day. LoveinTheory was not only an AMAZINGLY TALENTED photographer but she turned out to be my Maid of Honor!! In a matter of seconds Jacq noticed I was short of help and offered to do everything that was needed and had yet to be done (and we took her up on that offer!)! Jacq is a wonderful artist and human being, she is kindhearted, funny, relaxed, and smart. Both my fiancé and I felt like she was our life-long friend from the first coffee she had with us! We felt completely comfortable throughout the entire photoshoot and saw a great sneak peek at the end of the day!! It was absolutely a thousand times more than we could have ever imagined- she even made my bouquet and my hubby's boutonnieres (I know right?)!! Thank you Jacq!! We love you!

I'm not done! Gui, her super-talented Brazilian associate, was a pleasant surprise! We couldn't even imagine that we would be so lucky to have a SECOND photographer capturing fashion-style memories of our big day. Gui was so fun to have around and an indispensable piece to our experience! He captured stills and even VIDEO so we would have an edited film of our wedding as a surprise! They say to choose the 3 most important things to focus on when planning a wedding. You can't have the best of everything when working with a budget. We decided that a great photographer was definitely in the top 3 priorities. After weeks of thoroughly researching photographers and meeting with a few in person, my heart kept going back to Love in Theory's, Jacquie Lew because of her beautiful use of color, light and romantic & whimsical vision that comes through in all of her photos. After meeting Jacquie in person to get to know each other over coffee, we felt instantly calmed from her laid-back, West-Coast personality and her top-notch professionalism. We knew we found the one. A week later, we shot our engagement photos 3 days before Jacquie was leaving for an extended trip. To our shock, she made the time to send us our photos the day after the shoot despite her upcoming trip. We also received the thumb drive in the mail just days later. It came in the CUTEST packaging. Jacquie really pays attention to the little things and made us feel so special (refer to her blog!). After all that, this is the best part: Our. Pictures. Were. Amazing! We went into the shoot feeling like we would be total stiffs in front of the camera and somehow Jacquie made us relaxed and that came through in the pictures 10 fold. We are pretty much obsessed with them and now have 5 of them going on our Save The Dates because we can't narrow them down any further. All my friends have been raving about her work. Some brides have contacted me for her info already. The wedding is in a few months and I'm confident that I will have even more amazing things to say after that day. Overall, we adore Jacquie and feel like she's not only our talented photographer, but our friend. We are so lucky and blessed that we found her.

Jacquie absolutely made my engagement session vision come true! Since I am having a Decemeber wedding, I wanted to be able to take the engagement session in the snow. Lo and behold, snow storm Jonas bellowed. Jacquie braved the storm with us and delivered amazing photos that we will cherish for the rest of our lives. She is such a doll to work with! We used Jacquie for our wedding and she was great! She has such a unique eye for photos that we were unable to find with any other photographer. She wasn't your standard wedding photographer with lame poses which is why we chose her. She was so personable and easy to get in touch with. The day of the wedding she had a list of every photo we needed (family, friends, etc) which helped the whole process run smoothly. Will definitely recommend her again!

Our photographer was Jacquie Lew. We requested her for our engagement photos, and we were so impressed by her calm, confident, and cool eye for getting interesting and unique photos that we asked her to be our wedding photographer as well...in Mexico! Lucky for us, she wasn't booked yet and not only did she capture every incredible and memorable moment, but Jacquie was helpful, accommodating and supportive throughout the entire wedding. We didn't ever feel like we were conducting a business transaction for services, rather, we were working closely with a friend who had awesome photography equipment! My husband and looked at about 100 wedding photographers online and narrowed our choices down to a few. And once we met Jacquie, we knew that we wanted her to be our photographer. Not only do her photos have great composition and simply look beautiful, we just felt very comfortable with Jacquie. She gets to know her coupes' interests, what is important to them, who in the wedding does not get along and does not want to be photographed together :), and is just a calm and collected person, which is important to have on the big day.
Our wedding pictures that she and her partner Richard took turned out gorgeous! My husband and I are having a difficult time picking our favorites to include in our album. We are very happy that we went with Photo Philosophies.
Jacquie was also so helpful throughout the entire wedding planning process. She was able to recommend another vendor that I went with, and helped me organize the timeline for our big day.

We chose Photo Philosophies as our wedding photographers after meeting with Jacquie and seeing her portfolio. It showed she has an amazing eye for capturing unique and beautiful photos. As a fellow photographer with a set vision of what I wanted my wedding photos to look like I knew that Jacquie and Richard will be able to capture every moment just the way I pictured it.

They did an awesome job and we will always recommend them to our friends and family. They were very professional and a pleasure to have them as our photographers. Jacquie always answered all my emails quickly and delivered the final product in time and beautifully put together.

They did not only capture all the classic shots but also got many original poses which we absolutely love. Their photos are like a story book of our amazing day, and at no point in time did we feel like we were pulled away to pose, but instead you see the emotions through the entire day. They worked very quickly to capture the family and bridal party shots so that we did not miss any part of our cocktail hour. And they captured great action and still photos of all our guests. All our family and friends keep saying how the photos belong on the cover of bridal magazines :)

My event was actually an engagement photo shoot but that wasn't an option. Jacquie from Photo Philosophies is the best! I contacted her several months before we actually had our shoot and we corresponded many times during that time. Every time I would write her, she responded pretty quickly and always seemed genuinely interested and invested in what I had to say, regardless of whether it had to do with the photo shoot or not. She was always super friendly and put me at ease from day 1. Jacquie is a true professional and is very knowledgeable about what makes a good photo. During our photo shoot, she had a lot of suggestions but always asked us what we felt comfortable with and listened to what kind of shots we wanted. I wrote her at length (annoyingly so at times) about what I wanted the photos to look like and she really listened because the photos came out exactly as I wanted. The quality of her work is beyond reproach and obvious to anyone who views her portfolio. I only wish she were available on my wedding date because I can just imagine what a wonderful job she would do there as well. I think anyone who is thinking about hiring her should do it without question. Jacquie rocks!

We are so happy with our choice of Photo Philosophies for our engagement shoot and the photos that resulted. We loved our experience with Jacquie, the owner and photographer, so much that we immediately booked her for our wedding. We cannot commend her highly enough. Jacquie was great from the minute I emailed her until after the shoot was completed and we got our images. Yes, you feel awkward and ridiculous during the beginning of a shoot but then you see the pictures and they are all fantastic! The pictures were not overly retouched and we received a DVD of all the images in both high and low resolution. There is no obligation to buy from the online photo album site which is good because it is pricey. Will be booking her for the wedding as well.

As soon as my husband and i met jacquie we knew right away she the was the photogpraher we wanted for our engagement pics and wedding. Not only is jacquie insanely talented but you can tell right away she absolutley loves what she does and truly wants you to have the best day possible. She was always very responsive and helpful and most importantly listened to what we wanted and really followed through on it. she created a detailed timeline for the wedding day which helped put everything in perspective and kept everyone moving during the formals to ensure we were able to attend our cocktail hour. basically jacquie is awesome and we love her!!! if she is available for your date book her immediately!

Jacquie captured exactly what I wanted, photos of my little family (me, hubby, and 20 month old) in a photo-journalistic, non-portait way. All of my friends have been raving about the photos.

Jacquie of Photo Philosphies was just amazing to work with! We did an engagement shoot in Central Park, and the day could not have been more fun. She made us feel so comfortable in front of the camera and did a wonderful job of providing direction while still letting us do our own thing. The finished photos turned out beautifully and I cannot recommend her highly enough!

I had the greatest luck in finding Jaquie to have my engagaement pictures taken. She is absolutely amazing in regards to her work. Her demeanor as a professional as well as an individual made the event that much easier. She offered very helpful advice throughout the entire process and kept in touch regularly. Furthermore, she has been one of the kindest and most patient vendors I have had the oppotunity of working with. My fiancee and I are very happy with our pictures and experience with Photo Philosophies; we plan on using them for future events. Jaquie and her company will not disappoint!

Jacquie is amazing. She always communicated promptly, was very professional and available to answer our questions. During the shoot, she was on time, easy going and fun. My husband and I did an engagement photo shoot with Photo Philosophies. We were nervous because it's always scary looking for a photographer as a gay couple. Jacqueline was perfect. She helped ease our fears and instantly made us feel very comfortable. She directed us and made it a very easy process and actually, it was an INCREDIBLE experience. Our photos turned out great! She made us both feel comfortable and made our shoot really individualized. She was patient and a true artist. She is one of the best decisions we made about our BIG DAY. She is incredible and we highly recommend her!

We had Jacquie of Photo Philosphies take our engagement photos on a Monday night. It was a great experience. She came to our hood, showed up early, scoped out some of the spots, and then when we showed up she was ready to go. She was great to work with, never felt like you were taking annoying photos or put in weird poses, and puts you at ease. Our photos came out much much better then we thought because we are not good at posing for photos! The only bummer was when we found out she was already booked on our wedding date, we were ready to hire her before even seeing how the photos came out, we liked her personally that much! I would recommend her to anyone looking for great uncheasy photos!!

We found Jacquie through a friend who used Photo Philosophies for his wedding. After meeting her, my husband and I immediately knew she was the right photographer for us. We wanted photographs that weren't overly staged or typical, and Jacquie's vision matched ours perfectly. She's an artist who has such an eye for detail and beauty. She captured moments of our wedding that were absolutely priceless, and when we looked at the pictures for the first time all the fun and excitement of the day came through every shot. My friends and family were floored by the quality of the pictures, and my husband and I were thrilled. Jacquie can easily charge much more than she does; I've really never seen more beautiful wedding shots in my life. On top of the quality of the photos, Jacquie is utterly professional. She answered every call, email and question quickly and thoroughly, and she was lovely to work with. When it came time to find a photographer for our wedding we were sure of one thing, we wanted something different. We didn't want the typical posed photos that didn't capture "us" or the excitement of our big day. I wanted someone that really got what we were about and would be able to capture that in pictures. We chose Jacquie (PhotoPhilosophies) based on the fact that we loved her work and she was AMAZING to work with. She was a pleasure to deal with and by the end of it all, we consider her a friend that we are lucky to have. Jacquie did our engagement shoot and our wedding photos and we were amazed at what she was able to capture. She has this way of taking all of the fun, emotion, excitement in a moment and capturing it in a photo. Our families and guests loved Jacquie and having her as a part of our day was beyond wonderful. There were moments where I did not even see her by me and she was getting the BEST shots of the night. Jacqui of Photo Philosophies is amazing! Not only is she incredibly talented and professional, but she's also a genuine person. She's very flexible and has the ability to make you feel super comfortable, which is an important quality in a photographer. Prior to our engagement shoot, Jacqui and I spoke a few times about my preferences, location and photo ideas, etc. Through our conversations, she was able to understand my style and what I had in mind. During our shoot, she accommodated everything I wanted and had so many great ideas of her own that helped our photos turn out fantastic! My friends (and even people I haven't spoken with for years) have yet to stop commenting on how much they LOVE our photos. I look forward to working with Jacqui again soon, and would definitely recommend her as your photographer for a wedding, engagement shoot, boudoir, family photos, special events - anything. She also knows a lot about event planning. She's given me some great advice during my wedding planning process!

Jacquie and Sahar were awesome!!! They are so nice and sweet!! Any questions I had Jacquie answered right away. She offered to help with anything I needed for the wedding(I am living in Buffalo and was planning a long distance wedding)!! What she charged us for the day was well within our budget!! People were coming up to us saying how wonderful they were!! The staff was saying they got shots that noone else would have thought to get!!! I have only seen 10 pictures so far, but they are awesome!!! I can't wait to get the rest!!!! I would totally reccommend Jacquie!!!!

Working with Photo Philosophies was a dream. I did a pre-wedding boudoir shoot and was nervous, but J took great care of me. She was professional, creative, and honest. She took great care in the post-production and delivered my dvd promptly. The photos came out wonderful and my husband loved them. I would def recommend Photo Philosophies for any of your photography needs!

I really enjoyed working with Jacquie. She suggested the best kinds of photos and props and made me feel really comfortable taking the photos. She was patient with the "getting ready" and with my husband's lack of enthusiasm at being photographed (as most men are). She did my boudoir photos and our anniversary photos. Both came out really great. For the boudoir photos, we had two locations, one of which was a beach. Jacquie did some fun and sexy shots of me in the water and on the sand. I am so thrilled with her work, that I'm having her take even more shots in the future, and I've recommended her to all of my friends.

Working with Love in Theory for our wedding photography was a great experience, very natural, low stress, and the results were fantastic. Jacq came highly recommended, and we fully endorse their work. We wanted a photographer that would be easy to work with, not demand too much from us on the day of, yet also deliver one-of-a-kind but not contrived shots. They absolutely delivered. After meeting with Jacq in advance and talking through our day-of plans, we were able to nail down a timeline that gave us plenty of options, and Jacq and Gui's flexibility was much appreciated. The photos turned out amazing, were delivered in a professional and charming way, and we will cherish them for a lifetime.

I have to say, I was very impressed with Jacquie Lew of Photo Philosophies. My fiance and I had seen a promotion on Living Social and with some hesitation took a chance for our Engagement photos with the company.

Even before we got to take the actual pictures, I already knew we had chosen the right person to take our pictures. Jacquie always replied back to my emails, questions and concerns. She was very easy going and comfortable to talk to and work everything out with like picking out a place to take the pictures and types of poses.

She showed us samples of her beautiful pictures on her Facebook page and worked on giving us our "own" look for our photos and options on where to take them.

For two camera shy people, she made the picture taking feel fun & comfortable. She helped us chose the right location for us (Central Park) and gave us some great ideas for pictures.

I've seen some sample shots and waiting for my CD of the day in the mail. And off of all that, I'd gladly recommend her to anyone that needed or wanted to take some great pictures. She's great!

Thank you Jacquie for everything!! Maybe we can get you to do the wedding too!!! = )

My wife and i were in love with Jacq's aesthetic. After a quick in-person meeting, we felt more than comfortable having her and her assistant be our wedding photographers. Flexibility was key as we were hit with rain on our wedding day which screwed up our ceremony and outdoor shots that we had planned. Jacq went into 'get shit done' mode and pulled together some great shots on the fly. Telling the bus driver where to go, coordinating our wedding party and making some magic. Was a pleasure working with her.

If you want stunning, editorial photographs go with Love in Theory! We were so pleased with the portraits that Jacq and Gui took of us and our bridal party. And we loved the actions shots they captured throughout the day. We got so many compliments on our photographs from friends and family. Everyone felt that the pictures were so much more than standard wedding photos. Jacq has a really creative eye and it really came through in the final product. Our photographs feel so special and we're so grateful to have working with Love in Theory.

Jacquie has been great to work with so far. Our engagement photoshoot felt completely comfortable and authentic. We didn't want any cheesy photos so it was really important to us that she understood the aesthetic and feeling we were going for. I am so glad that I found Jacquie to shoot my engagement shots! I couldn't recommend her enough! My fiance was quite shy in front of the camera, but Jacquie him feel at ease and it was great practice for what the both of us could expect on our wedding day! The shots came out so crisp and beautiful and one of my friends who saw them called them "Vogue-worthy" and I can only give Photo Philosophies the credit for that! Also, I have to say I love how Jacquie sent the photos- the packaging made it feel extra special to receive!

I met Jacq through a friend and let me just say I am ABSOLUTELY happy I was given this recommendation. Jacq shot my engagement photos in April 2017 – at first my fiancé and I were really stiff because of course we’ve never done a photoshoot before. Jacq was able to coach us through the shoot to get us comfortable with the camera and shooting with each other. When we saw the initial photos – we were head-over- heels IN LOVE!!!!!!!!! We totally can’t wait for our BIG DAY!

Jacq is extremely professional, attentive, accessible, unique, and of course fun - we couldn’t have selected a better photographer to capture our special day.
