Choosing a photographer for your own wedding is not easy… especially when you work with cameras.
I’m not a wedding photographer myself, but I’ve covered enough events to understand how much is happening behind the scenes. Timing, anticipation, light… and the fact that you only get one chance to capture it right.
That’s exactly why this decision was so important for me.
We had an incredible team around us, with everything perfectly planned by Richard Weber, so expectations were high from the start.
What really impressed me was how natural everything felt on the day. There were moments where I caught myself thinking, “let’s see how he handles this”… and every single time, he was already there, ready before the moment even happened.
That level of anticipation doesn’t happen by accident.
Looking back at the photos now, what stands out the most is not just how everything looked, but how everything felt. There are so many moments I didn’t even realize were happening at the time, and now they’re there forever.
As someone who understands how difficult this job actually is, I can say this:
Choosing a photographer for your own wedding is one of the hardest decisions you’ll make… but when you get it right, you know.
And we absolutely did.

From the very beginning, Juan made everything feel easy. Planning a wedding is stressful, but having him on our team was one of the best decisions we made. He wasn’t just our photographer, he became part of the experience.
During the three days of our wedding, he captured everything. Not just the big moments, but the real ones. The emotions, the atmosphere, the energy. Looking at the photos feels like reliving the entire weekend again.
And the video… I still get chills watching it. It doesn’t feel like a wedding video, it feels like a movie. The way he told our story, the pacing, the music, the details… it’s something we’ll treasure for the rest of our lives.
What really stood out to me was how present he was. Always in the right place, at the right time, without ever being intrusive. Our guests loved him. He brought such a great energy and made everyone feel comfortable.
We were incredibly lucky to find Juan. Not only because of his talent, which is obvious, but because he genuinely cares. He helped us way beyond just photo and video. Advice, timing, moments we didn’t even think about… he was always one step ahead.
If you’re considering him, don’t even think twice. This is not just hiring someone to document your wedding. This is investing in memories you’ll actually feel every time you see them.

Incredible talent!
Choosing to work with Juan was the easiest and best decision we made during our wedding planning! His awesomeness is beyond words but he deserves all of our praises.
From our first phone call, Juan was extremely friendly, thorough, and knowledgeable. His team is also very responsive and accessible.
Juan was always a quick text or phone call away and I never felt like I was bothering him.
His expertise was evident as he went through his process and answered my millions of questions. When I was having issues with one of my main vendors, Juan went above and beyond for me!!
He gave me creative ideas/inspiration for the ceremony and reception, eased my anxieties, and even pulled some strings to put me in touch with another great vendor! Juan was crazy sweet and reassuring the entire time.
Meeting JJuan and his team on our wedding day was awesome. They were punctual, professional, and super fun. They involved us and yet stayed “behind the scenes” just enough to capture real moments. When we received our gallery, we were SPEECHLESS!
His skills are absolutely unmatched. Juan, you truly have an amazing gift. Your photos vibrantly captured all of the emotions of the day...the excitement and jitters of getting ready, the overwhelming love during the ceremony, the pure bliss during our solo portraits, and the fun/laughter we shared with our closest loved ones! I often catch myself wanting to relive that day and that is the gift you have given us in these photos.

There are not enough words for me to possibly cover how great Juan is. After searching through many pictures to find the right photographer for us, I stumbled upon Juan because of his incredible use of natural light with evening pictures. I am SO FREAKING GLAD we went with him. Juan and his team were so much fun to work with. They were professional, straight to the point, and so accommodating (he squeezed us in for a last minute add on of a Trash the Dress session and I am so happy we did it.
I'm currently swooning over the previews that he has sent me, and am so excited to see the rest of the photos! -

As a newlywed who recently tied the knot in the breathtaking paradise of Las Terrenas, I cannot contain my excitement to share our extraordinary wedding photography and videography experience. Our special day was nothing short of magical, and a significant part of that magic was captured flawlessly by our incredible photographer and videographer. Their work was not just satisfactory; it was nothing short of astonishing.
From the moment we started planning our destination wedding in Las Terrenas, we knew that capturing the essence of this tropical paradise was a top priority. Our photographer, Juan, immediately stood out during our initial consultations. Our wedding celebration in Las Terrenas spanned four unforgettable days, each filled with a diverse array of activities and experiences.
Day one kicked off with our Welcome Party White Dinner, set against a backdrop of tropical ambiance.
On the second day, we embarked on a luxurious catamaran excursion complete with a lively DJ and delectable snacks on a pristine, secluded beach. This was followed by a refreshing pool party that concluded early, ensuring everyone felt rejuvenated for the day ahead.
The third day was the culmination of our dreams: our wedding day. It was a night filled with surprises, live performances by talented artists, and, of course, a dazzling fireworks display.
And on the fourth day, aptly named our Recovery Day, a skilled chef prepared an assortment of mouthwatering sandwiches and meals from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
On our wedding day, Juan and his team arrived early, capturing the breathtaking sunrise over Las Terrenas, which we later found was a surprise inclusion in our wedding video. This unexpected and beautiful touch exemplified their dedication to going above and beyond. John, with his warm and calming presence, made everyone feel at ease, ensuring that the candid moments, laughter, and tears were all authentically captured.
Our wedding video was a true masterpiece. The cinematic quality, the choice of music, and the seamless editing brought tears to our eyes. It felt like we were reliving our special day all over again, with every emotion and memory perfectly encapsulated in the film.
One of the aspects we appreciated most was that John and his team were like ninjas, blending into the background during our ceremony and reception. They never intruded on the intimate moments but somehow managed to capture every important detail. It's evident that they are not just photographers and videographers; they are storytellers.

How to start?
Organizing my wedding has been a long process, especially since it required many guests to travel to the Dominican Republic to enjoy five incredible days in Las Terrenas, full of different activities. Organizing a remote wedding is really not an easy task, but fortunately, I found a person like Juan.
Although Juan is not a professional wedding planner, he could easily fill that role, as he helped me find various local vendors, plan activities and excursions, and other things.
From the first email he sent us with his proposal, Juan was always very receptive and proactive, which I loved. One aspect that was fundamental for us was being able to fully enjoy our wedding. Therefore, we expressly asked that everything related to photography and video not interrupt our enjoyment, and it did. During the five days packed with activities, we didn't even notice that we had a photography and video team behind us. The result of the material delivered was amazing, and I can't help but get excited every time I see all the images and videos.
As for the video, we hired the services of Teaser, Short-Film and Feature Film. I strongly recommend that you opt for the Feature Film service if your wedding covers more than one day, since many things would be left out of the short-film. Once we received all the videos, we requested the Linear video, which took about 4 months to produce and turned out to be truly wonderful. Having a nearly 2 hour movie with so much material not found in the other videos, including the entire ceremony and speeches, is really special.
I want to express my most sincere gratitude to Juan and his team for all the work they did before, during and after my wedding.

La organización de mi boda ha sido un proceso largo, especialmente porque requería que muchos invitados viajaran a la República Dominicana para disfrutar de cinco días increíbles en Las Terrenas, llenos de diferentes actividades. Organizar una boda a distancia realmente no es una tarea sencilla, pero afortunadamente, encontré a una persona como Juan.
A pesar de que Juan no es un organizador de bodas profesional, fácilmente podría desempeñar ese papel, ya que me ayudó a encontrar diversos proveedores locales, planificar actividades y excursiones, entre otras cosas.
Desde el primer correo electrónico que nos envió con su propuesta, Juan se mostró siempre muy receptivo y proactivo, lo cual me encantó. Un aspecto que era fundamental para nosotros era poder disfrutar plenamente de nuestra boda. Por eso, pedimos expresamente que todo lo relacionado con la fotografía y el vídeo no interrumpiera nuestro disfrute, y así sucedió. Durante los cinco días repletos de actividades, ni siquiera notamos que teníamos un equipo de fotografía y vídeo detrás de nosotros. El resultado del material entregado fue asombroso, y no puedo evitar emocionarme cada vez que veo todas las imágenes y vídeos.
En cuanto al vídeo, contratamos los servicios de Teaser, Short-Film y Feature Film. Les recomiendo encarecidamente que opten por el servicio de Feature Film si su boda abarca más de un día, ya que muchas cosas quedarían fuera del short-film. Una vez que recibimos todos los vídeos, solicitamos el vídeo Lineal, que llevó unos 4 meses de producción y resultó ser una auténtica maravilla. Tener una película de casi 2 horas con tanto material que no se encuentra en los otros vídeos, incluyendo la ceremonia completa y los discursos, es realmente especial.

Photos that Tell the Story
When Juan assure that his talent is capture emotions; Oh yes, it is!!! Juan and his team make us feel comfortable in the process. A lot things happening at the same time in your wedding and they are there calming, doing their things, and the result is having the full story of your wedding in pictures. Amazing!! We were so excited with Juan and his team work that we had an unexpected shooting at the beach and we had so much fun. I received the unedited photos to do a selection for editing and the photos as they are look perfect to me. I also want to say that Juan help (mean "did his best") helping my husband with his tuxedo tie, and in the wedding the amazing girl from Juan's team, helped me with anything she noticed I need. My husband and I are still talking about how fabulous it was to work with Juan and his team. They were always on top of things and we never felt like we were standing in front of a camera posing. It was amazing how noninvasive his photography and videography style was. He advertises that he likes to capture raw, real moments and we found that to be VERY true. He was super positive throughout the day even during the extreme heat. He and his team worked really hard to make sure we felt special and that they captured the day. We have worked with other photographers before who made us feel awkward in front of the camera because of the posing they ask us to do, but we felt so comfortable in front of the camera with Juan + his team. Watching Juan direct his team to do certain things was really fascinating to watch because you can tell he has such a passion for this work and seems very genuine while working with others and teaching.
Before our ceremony, I wanted to read the letter from my husband and I think Juan could see I was a little anxious to read it in front of everyone, so he asked them to step out so I could read it alone. It was nice to have that moment to myself where I wasn’t feeling any pressure. Throughout the getting ready process and wedding party photos, he always made it fun and an enjoyable process. He offered suggestions and created a bond between everyone. Our guests left our wedding talking about how amazing our photo/ video team was and how they loved working with them.
During dinner, my husband and I realized we hadn’t seen him in a while and wondered if he was okay. We figured he was probably just eating and didn’t worry about it because his team was still taking pictures and videos as events happened. During our ceremony, Juan surprised us by setting up a projector with ALREADY EDITED photos from our wedding. He provided us with a slideshow of photos with music from us getting ready and our ceremony. This was obviously SUPER unexpected, but it felt really special to already be reflecting on our wedding day before it’s even over. We were overcome with joy, happiness, and pure thankfulness. The photos were absolutely stunning and we were so pleased with our sneak peaks. It felt remarkable to be able to have these moments alongside my family and our best friends.
Throughout the reception, they were ALWAYS there, but never in the way. Juan has a very unique eye for photography and videography and it’s very evident in his work. We are incredibly grateful and eager to see the remaining photos and videos from our big day so we can relive everything!
The next day, we hosted a party boat on a catamaran and Juan and his team were on board to capture the fun. Our guests shared their excitement that they were there after how much they enjoyed working with them the previous night. Everyone was so shocked we had them there and I’m SO glad we did. They captured some really fun moments and beautiful aerial shots using a drone. We have a ton of really fabulous photos where you can see the excitement, the dancing, and the drunkenness (which is hilarious). We were SHOCKED when he sent us the album from the excursion before we even left the DR. He works very hard and quickly. We are beyond excited to have worked with him and would highly recommend and encourage you to book with him if you’re on the fence. Photography and videography were number one on our priority list and I could not imagine anyone else being part of our wedding experience- even through our postponement. If we return to the DR in the future, we will definitely be contacting him for some anniversary photos. -

My husband and I hired Juan Lopez and his team for our Samana, Dominican Republic destination wedding photos and trash the dress shoot. We are from Canada, and were hesitant to hire a local photographer but I am very glad we found Juan. Un increible y talentoso fotografo con un team de trabajo super profesional.
Llegamos a Juan buscando un fotografo que se ajuste a lo que queriamos para nuestra boda, alguien que no este tan pendiente en si posamos bien o mal, de hecho realmente no queriamos posar, sino alguien espontaneo, que pueda captar la escencia nuestra como pareja como de nuestros invitados y dimos con el por Instagram. Ya la calidad fotografica que se puede apreciar en su instagram es increible, fuera de lo comun. Luego de varios emails optamos por tener un videochat y ahi es cuando nos dimos cuenta que él era nuestro fotografo.
Juan ha sido casi como un invitado mas de nuestra boda y nos acompaño 3 dias con un welcome party, el dia de la boda y luego hicimos un maravilloso Trash The Dress el dia antes de la boda con otro vestido.
Tanto mi fiancee como yo estamos maravillados con las fotografias y los videos que nos ha entregado Juan y estamos muy contentos de haber podido contar con el. -

When my husband and I began to look for photographers for our destination wedding in Punta Cana DR, I knew ultimately it would be my husband's decision as he is the "photographer" of the family. After talking to numerous photographers, I knew in the first few minutes listening to the conversation Juan and my husband had that Juan and his team would be the one for us. From the moment we interacted with Juan our minds were put to ease. He not only went above and beyond to answer every question but he thoughtfully offered his advice and helpful tips for the wedding. He helped us decide on our officiant for the wedding and with his help we had the absolute best officiant marrying us.
During the ten months before our wedding Juan stayed in contact and as our wedding day approached closer I felt like Juan was more our friend than photographer. On the day of our wedding Juan and his team arrived promptly and got right to work. Everyone on his team was friendly and engaging and never said no to anything we asked! Juan interacted with both sets of parents and the entire bridal party. Everyone remembers how funny Juan was. His team did not even feel in the way. It was very natural for them to be there to take photos and interact with all our vendors. On the day of the wedding Juan was my biggest advocate to have fun and enjoy the moment. All while still capturing every tear and smile our wedding had. Juan was recommended to us by the wedding planner for Sublime Samana, after we saw his work online we knew we wanted to work with him. My husband and I are not big on posing for photos but Juan and his team made it super easy and fun to work with them. Juan’s charismatic personality makes you feel very calm and comfortable on your big day and we were super appreciative of how professional they were on the day of the wedding. Needless to say that the quality of the photos is amazing, the drone shots are super cool! We’re so happy with our wedding photos we can’t stop look at them! I can’t praise this man enough. Between Juan’s larger then life personality, absolutely amazing skills as a photographer/videographer and his phenomenal team (Lola,Carlos & Henry), you will NOT regret hiring them. Planning a destination wedding has its challenges and stressors. I can say off our 1st email with Juan we knew we were in excellent hands. After the wedding we were proven right, if it wasn’t for Juan and his team our wedding could have been a disaster. No thanks to Barcelo Bavaro Palace and their incompetent wedding planner Francis Berra.
Since we planed on venturing around DR before our wedding we took the opportunity to plan a “Trash the Dress”(TTD) in the gorgeous beach town of Las Terrenas. Now, we could tell from his emails how passionate he is about photography, meeting with him takes it to a whole other level. Juan lights up like a Christmas tree when talking about his craft, gadgets & toys. We spoke about our vision for the wedding & the TTD session. By the end we literally gave him all reins on whatever he wanted to do and what would be best for our special day. For our TTD, Juan chose our location & we were just blown away of how beautiful it was.
The entire process was extremely easy and fun. Juan completely captured our love naturally.
The day of our wedding Juan stepped in and went into planning mode throughout the day and evening (since our wedding planner was MIA). Even with that wrench thrown in Juan and his team captured the most beautiful and intimate moments with our family and friends. We are beyond grateful to them and can not wait to see our video & the rest of our photos. Juan’s energy and emotion for his work & for life in general is contagious, and it is a joy to be around him. You will not regret having them for your special day.

I cannot say enough about Juan Lopez. This man is truly gifted. When he says he is not like other wedding photographers he is being 100% honest. He truly captures emotions and feelings in his work that are so in the moment it is crazy! From our first phone conversation, I knew I was in good hands. I spent 2 months looking for a photographer whose work I really connected with. When I saw his work I thought I would never be able to afford him. His rates and packages are great and he works with you to craft a package that works for your budget. Juan Lopez and his team bring such an amazing energy. They are professional and the drone is the coolest thing I have ever seen! I loved how he executed the shots he wanted to take. To watch him work was really cool. The most wonderful part of the night is when Juan surprised us and our family with a slideshow of pictures taken during the day. They were simply stunning! A couple of days later we received about 20 sneak peek photos which were breathtaking and we cannot wait to see the rest of the photos and video from that day. Amazing photographer and a great price!
Juan is the angel that came to our rescue! We had originally booked our destination wedding with the chosen hotel's photography department. After getting a bad vibe and nearly no response from them for months- literally 2 months before the wedding, I found Juan and fell in love with his wedding photos online!
Despite the short notice, this man listened to my endless list of requests and kept me in the loop every step of the way. He is hilarious on the phone and even funnier in person. It is difficult to find reliable vendors when you’re overseas and have to just wait it out till you get there. I finally did not have to do the week long waits just to hear back from a vendor.
Our wedding was video game/disney themed and despite knowing nothing of Kingdom Hearts - he listened to all the music (all of it.), watched endless youtube videos for us about the game, screenshots, dorky lines, perused through pictures and helped us find the perfect scenes to relive our wedding and 'trash the dress' session. We received a small sampling of photos from the hotel and they just cannot compare to what this man captured. We received over 900 photos, an excellent movie with teaser video and we STILL can’t decide on what pictures to frame….
If you need a photographer that is quick to adjust to your changing needs, extremely affordable, will travel to the other side of the island, fly a drone to capture the entire resort, will get you that glass of wine to calm you down minutes before walking down the aisle (I may have broken down there for a sec), will make your family and friends laugh with his shenanigans, and truly capture the vision you didn't think capable... Juan Lopez -- you are what made this part of the wedding planning process worthwhile! Thank you.. from the bottom of our hearts for everything!

My wedding was pretty relaxed so I did not have a list of poses I wanted the focus to be on more candid shots and his team delivered. Juan was very easy going and easy to get on with,made us both feel at ease when taking photos,Juan and his team never stopped apart from having food and setting up a short slide show,which he put together in no time at all,and if the slide show is anything to go by,our photos and film should be out of this world,so if we can encourage anyone to use this team you will not be disappointed,

Juan and his team are incredible. My sister hired him for my bachelorette and they were very professional. Juan made us feel comfortable and perfectly balanced giving us tips, while also providing us some space to let us do our thing. His pictures and videos are some of the best I've seen. Magical Talent
Juan came recommended to us by our wedding planner, and after seeing his portfolio, we were excited to work with him. We had a few snags in communication leading up to our destination wedding, but from the moment we met him for our trash the dress shoot to the end of our wedding day, we were blown away by his talent, creativity, and direction. His team is wonderful, and while he posed us for our TTD shoot, our wedding day was mostly candid moments aside from a few group photos. We haven’t received our photos yet, but have gotten a few Sneak peeks at our TTD shoot, and they are INCREDIBLE. He even somehow managed to create a slide show and small Polaroid flip book for us OF wedding day photos which he presented AT THE RECEPTION. That was the moment when we couldn’t have been more grateful to invest in a photographer/videographer like him. He’s one of a kind. -
