Lots of options at Lion in the Sun

We worked with Jaye on Save the Dates, Invitations and Thank You notes. She was very easy to work with. Lots of good suggestions were given to make sure our invitations popped. We especially appreciated when she told us the printer recommended a different color paper after the first invitation was printed since it looked different from proof PDF. Thanks Jaye and Lion in the Sun!

Brilliant team

After speaking with numerous vendors for our wedding invitations, we could tell from the first consultation that the team at Lion in the Sun had a good grasp on our style and had the resources and professionalism to produce outstanding work. They made the the entire process a breeze and were very responsive at all times. The entire team is passionate, friendly and will work with you to bring your ideas and style to the paper. After a great experience with our invites, we went back to Lion in the Sun to create our escort cards, menu cards and wedding program. We'd definitely go back to them for more projects - so happy their storefront is close to us too.

This is the dream team! The entire process from start to finish was a joy—we were sad when it was over! We worked with Jaye who navigated the fine line of guiding us to something that would look incredible but was also our vision. My father drew artwork for our invitation suite and she made him feel comfortable and gave us the confidence to move forward with our idea. Everyone on the team is wonderful to work with and you can always reach them. It was truly a pleasure and trust me when I say, you will not regret working with this group of talented professionals.

My husband I worked with Laurel at Lion in the Sun for our invitation suite, wedding day paper [menus, programs etc] and calligraphy. The entire process was seamless and the end product was absolutely stunning. Laurel was incredibly patient as we walked through every detail and gave great insight and advice. She also did the calligraphy for our invitations, place cards and table numbers. ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL. She is soooo talented.

Lion in the Sun also has the BEST selection of invitations as well. Something for everyone. I would highly recommend if you want great consulting, service and beautiful paper goods for your day.

Lion in the Sun is the best!!! They did all of the paper for my wedding (Save the Date, invitation, escort and thank you cards) and rocked it all. Everything was beautiful and classy, but somehow not cookie cutter. I received countless compliments on it all.

Picking your Save the Dates and invitations can be particularly overwhelming (or at least it was for me) and the wonderful team at Lion guided me through it seamlessly. I worked with several of the staff there and each and every person was warm, understanding, and incredibly knowledgeable about all of the options out there.

Cannot recommend them highly enough!

We LOVED our invitations! They helped us make the invitations personal, and they came out beautiful. We told them a design and some colors, and they took care of the wording and we got so many compliments about how elegant and nice they looked. We are so glad we found this gem!

Lion in the Sun designed our save the dates, invitations, and day-of paper (programs, menus, escort/place/table cards), and we had the BEST experience throughout. They have dozens of books of different invitation suites and designers to choose from, from Vera Wang to small, independent companies. We worked with Laurel, who was just a dream: knowledgeable about all things paper- and wedding-related (so, the merits of engraving vs. letterpress but also invitation-related etiquette and convention), not at all pushy, great sense of style. We visited the shop several times for design meetings, but also did a lot of editing and proofing over email, which was seamless, easy, and fast. We were happy to support this local business, but even happier with the stellar final product. (For comparison, we did our rehearsal dinner invitations on the Knot -- they were fine, but the difference in quality between that and the Lion in the Sun items was wild.) We can't wait to visit again for all things paper!

Mel and her team were amazing to work with! After a very thorough initial consultation, Mel immediately got our concept and her designer, Ella, translated our vision into a gorgeous custom Save the Date, which set the tone for our entire wedding suite. Our guests were blown away when they got our invites in the mail. Mel was very accommodating and went out of her way to explain all options to meet our budget, help us with etiquette questions, and find the right balance between traditional and whimsical. We will be Lion in the Sun clients for life!

We used Lion in the Sun for custom wedding invite suite for our wedding in October 2016. Melinda is absolutely the most knowlegable and passionate stationer we came across in the process! This was such a fun process thanks to this A+ team with incredible professionalism, knowledge, experience, and awesome product. Our consultation and consecutive meetings to pick out font, review custom artwork, etc were such delights. I had lofty dreams and specific interests when it came to our wedding invites. Melinda helped us to design exactly what I wanted, and with incredible value! Prior to stumbling upon LITS, we had consulted with high end stationary chains that offered us much less flexibility (essentially 0 flexibility) at high ticket prices. PLEASE realize that you need not be confined by the restraints of typical invitation shops! 'Custom invites' are not stock invites with your individual event information plugged in. Custom invites are what Lion in the Sun can help you bring to life.

We already had our invitations but I would certainly recommend them for invitations and all paper goods. We did our day of printing with them and the programs, escort cards and signage was beautiful. They were wonderful to work with, very personal and they have an excellent selection but I recommend giving them plenty of lead time.

Our wedding was a few weeks ago. We went to Lion in the Sun for our invitations, reception signs, and wedding programs and could not have been happier with the experience and final results. Melinda was a true pleasure to work with and over the course of several meetings and discussions helped us create printed materials that truly realized our vision. She listens carefully and without judgment and at no point did I feel pressured into purchasing something more expensive than we were comfortable with. The end results were classic, elegant, and matched the tone of our wedding perfectly. Highly recommend her and Lion in the Sun -- it's also a very sweet shop and one that you will enjoy browsing and spending time in.

We ordered our Save the Dates and wedding invitations through Lion in the Sun and are SO happy we did. Mel worked with us to create a unique and beautiful save the date, which perfectly nailed what our vision was and suited our wedding venue (Gurney's in Montauk, NY). Mel also helped us create elegant wedding invitations that absolutely blew us and our invited guests away. The quality and elegance of our wedding invitations fit the regal quality of our wedding venue and ambiance for the night. Nora was so helpful for us and was very patient when we went back and forth on a lot of ideas. We couldn't quite put what we wanted in an easy to decipher way but through the proofs and visits, the final product was perfect! In the end we received many compliments when people started receiving them.

Lion in the Sun did a fantastic job on our wedding invitations. We came into the store with a vision for the suite that was quirky, unique, and ... vague. Mel, Nora, and the graphic designer did not bat an eyelid; on the contrary, they got to work and helped us clarify the package and bring it to life, with a consistent aesthetic. This involved general creativity, graphic design, and ... patience. Lots of patience. Because when you are putting together wedding invitations, there is a lot of back and forth ("should we use this font? what about this color? wait, should we put this icon here or there??!! are you sure it's okay not to spell out the date?! help!!!"). Yet Lion never made us feel that we were obsessing over the details (even though we were).

We feel that the result is outstanding. Granted, we're not unbiased, but many of our guests have described the invitation in superlative terms ("favorite one I've received", etc.), and a very large fraction of our response cards commented on the sweetness and originality of the invitation. To sum it up: our guests seem to be fans of our invitation, and we are fans of Lion in the Sun! Sign them on; they're worth their weight in gold (but their prices are reasonable: they won't charge you anything remotely close to anyone's weight in gold).

We worked with the lovely folks at Lion in the Sun in Huntington before it closed on our wedding invitations and we know that the Brooklyn shop carries the same beautiful products. We were able to customize our simple and elegant letterpress invitations - something we weren't able to find anywhere else. We would definitely recommend Lion in the Sun!

Lion in the Sun was amazing-the invitations were gorgeous and of the highest quality. The order was delivered in a timely fashion (I ordered my shower invitations as well as my wedding invitations from them) Mary was the greatest to work with-I LOVE her and Cathy was the calligrapher-her work is awesome. I can't say enough good things about this store, their selection and the service. I felt very comfortable being in the store-it was warm and friendly, just like the people who work there!

I received so many messages about how beautiful my invitations from Lion In The Sun were. I gave the ladies my budget, they stuck within in and were not pushy at all. They were very helpful, and I asked for their opinions and they gave them. After I picked my invitations, they were super responsive and helpful via email during the ordering process. I was kind of slacking on getting the wording to them, so they kept giving me gentle reminders in a supportive, not critical way. I worked with Cathy and Michelle, and they were so fantastic! My twin sister is now working with them for her wedding, and she is equally as pleased. I highly recommend this vendor.

I *love* Lion in the Sun! I will be a lifelong customer because they were just that awesome for all of our wedding printing needs.
The staff are very helpful and friendly; I worked with Danielle who was always just an email away. She worked with me from Day One and really listened to what my fiancee and I wanted; she always found samples and images that were perfectly in line with the look we were aiming for. We were able to have our return envelopes printed in-house and they did an amazing job of matching the script to our invitations.
After a mishap with some water (keep all liquids away from you when you're mailing your invitations!) I found myself short on reply cards and envelopes. Danielle went above and beyond to contact the printing company to see if we could get an extra set sent to us ASAP. We were able to get a new set rushed to us and the invitations went out with little delay.
When we received our invitations, I was so in love with them that I kept the sample copy in my purse so I could look at it whenever I wanted. The feedback we received from our guests was equally enthusiastic; one of my bridesmaids works in advertising and said she had a "design-gasm" when she received her invitation.
In addition to our invitations, we had the following items made through Lion in the Sun:
- Welcome Postcard for our hotel welcome bags for guests (again, Danielle helped us pick the perfect image)
- Table and Escort Cards for the Reception
- Menu Card
- Guest Book: again, Danielle helped us with this one. My husband and I went in the store and mentioned we were thinking of getting a map of Brooklyn for our guests to sign in lieu of a book. Danielle helped us find the perfect map, matched the script on the map with our invitations, and added a gold heart over our venue. We absolutely love it and now we have a beautiful reminder of our wedding day.
Added bonus: the store is dog-friendly. We always receive a warm reception for our pup Watson! LOVE!

These guys are great. Victoria in particular really made our vision come alive. She was creative yet responsive to our own ideas, and she really made a coherent, chic look for our paper goods. We did both invitations and day of (menus, programs, little signs) and they were all stunning. In every step along the way everyone at Lion was helpful and creative. They will sit down with you and look through scores of ideas until you find the one you love. Then, they will help you continue that vision in every little detail. I would highly recommend them to anyone.

I was so happy when my husband stumbled across Lion in the Sun. It is a gem of a store and well worth the trip to Brooklyn! The staff is super friendly and the invite options are endless. I cannot say enough positive things about the staff at the Lion in the Sun! The staff is very knowledgeable about proper etiquette and helped to make our invitations, programs and place cards look their best.
We used a design from Kleinfeld Paper, and Kleinfeld made major errors at every turn (like leaving off the apartment numbers on ALL of our invitations). But, the Lion in the Sun took care of everything so that we wouldn't be stressed before our big day, including hand calligraphying a few of the erred envelopes at no charge, and having our envelopes reprinted in a timely manner. Meredith and Cathy were the two main staff members at the Lion in the Sun who we worked with, and we appreciate all of the work that they did to help us! I highly recommend working with Lion in the Sun!

We loved the fact that our wedding invitations looked like you had found them in your grandmother’s trunk in the attic! I’m not saying they looked dirty and old, but vintage, carefully crafted, and handmade. The people from Lion in the Sun (especially Danielle) were extremely helpful and efficient, which I was very thankful for since I was planning the wedding mostly from Spain.

One of my co-workers recommended Lion in the Sun and I'm so happy he did! We used them for our save the dates, wedding invitations, day-of items and thank you cards. They were one of our favorite vendors we worked with. Sarah and Victoria were always very helpful, patient and responded to our e-mails very promptly. The store is very organized and they have such a wide variety of invitations and samples you can look through to get ideas.

I also really liked their calligrapher and their in-house collection, Postscript Brooklyn.

We used Lion in the Sun for both our Save the Dates and our wedding invitations. For our Save the Dates, our cousin, John (http://work.johnwtomac.com/), who is a graphic artist, helped us recreate a vintage post-card. Victoria at Lion in the Sun helped us print them. She was so helpful and professional the whole time, and spent so much time talking with us and making sure everything was perfect. When it came time for our invitations, we went back to Lion in the Sun. Ella helped us choose the perfect invitations. We liked 2 invitations by the same company and she helped us mix, match and blend our design to create the most perfect invitation suite. Ella was extremely professional, kind and responsive the entire time. She was so patient and flexible with us, and we couldn't have loved our invitations more. Everything was done within a timely manner, and Ella and the rest of the team at Lion in the Sun kept us informed throughout the whole process. We were so glad to be able to support a local business in our own neighborhood, and would encourage anyone with any invitation or paper needs, to visit Lion in the Sun. People commented over and over again at how beautiful our invitations were.

Lion in the Sun was FABULOUS! We could not be more thrilled with our wedding stationary and the process working with them. They completely surpassed our highest expectations. We were able to have very personalized and "us" stationary, with an incredible fun modern feel yet still very elegant and beautiful. Ella in particular was wonderful to work with and so helpful at every step of the process. We loved everything, from our invitations to the day-of stationary, and have received countless compliments. We LOVED working with Lion in the Sun to design our invitations and day-off materials (table numbers, signs, etc). I cannot say enough positive things about their team and would recommend them to anyone planning a wedding! Their work is BEAUTIFUL.

We had the pleasure of working directly with Sarah, who worked with us personally on every step of the process. When one of the elements of our invitation set just wasn't looking "right" after a round of edits, she sat with us to work through our concerns in person. She was not only patient, but genuinely enthusiastic to come up with a few new designs for us to choose from.

I also want to give a nod to their in-house line, Post Script Brooklyn. It was perfect for our Brooklyn wedding and we loved that we could customize every element - and that our invitations were designed right in our own borough!

We were so happy with the wedding invitations we ordered from Lion in the Sun. We worked with Sarah who was so incredibly helpful and who worked with us until we got exactly what we were looking for. Everyone kept telling us how much they loved our invitations and we were more than pleased with the final results. We cannot compliment the staff of Lion in the Sun enough! We went here for our wedding invitations and day-of items after getting two glowing recommendations from friends who also went here for their weddings. This shop is the perfect combination of boutique service with a very wide selection of options - and most of all, the ability to help us identify options that met our vision (including figuring out what our vision was and how to articulate it). The staff are highly organized, exceedingly professional and kept us on fully on track with all our deadline needs - and most importantly, they kept us on or below our budget at all times. They also ensured that the final products were flawless and appear to maintain wonderful relationships with their designers. They were also simply a pleasure to work with - they are that good! The shop is also amazing - we also bought our guest book there and were tempted by all the other stationery accessories and cute tote bags. We worked with Melinda, Sarah and Victoria - all wonderful experts!

I found a Gem in brooklyn! I loved how they worked with me and my budget to find the perfect wedding invitation that fit my fiance and I. I went with a custom designed and loved creating it with them. I got to see a ton of proofs (digital) and a mockup before printing out the order. I loved that it was my own and no one else would ever have it! They were super responsive and always available for questions or concerens! loved working with them!!

We've been using Lion in the Sun for invitations since I was a little kid, and they never dissappoint. They have a vast selection of styles for every occasion and personality. I had a specific theme for my wedding but didn't want to spend a fortune on paper...the staff helped me pick the best invitations for my budget and theme by letting me know what invitation designers had sales at that time. I chose GORGEOUS lace die-cut William Arthur invitations at a discounted price. The proofing process was easy and went smoothly, the staff answered all my questions in a timely manner and the invitations were delivered faster than I expected! I still get compliments on my invitations months later.

Jane and her staff are super friendly and very accommodating. My fiancé and I had such a wonderful experience with our wedding invitations that we are going back for personal stationary and business cards! Jane was always available when we needed her and if she was unavailable, her staff always made sure to reach out to us during the invitation process. Jane and her staff have so much experience with stationary that they will guide you each step of the way and make sure you leave the store content. Wedding planning can be really stressful, but this experience was delightful, I truly did enjoy my time at Lion In The Sun.

The women at Lion in the Sun were absolutely AMAZING. They sat with me three times before we decided on an invitation. They did not pressure me to pick any invitations (they do not work on commission) but they helped me decide on what I really wanted.

I was thrilled with my invitations. I cannot wait to use them for future invitations and announcements down the road (Christmas cards, Baby Announcements, etc).

We needed wedding invitations quickly for my son's wedding and they worked with us and got the job done. They have a huge selection and great suggestions. We had several cards to go with the invitations with information about accommodations, directions, activities and they had all the best ideas of how to word them. The result was that we got gorgeous invitations and in the nick of time. It was such a great experience that my other son used them too.

Wonderful! My husband and I worked with Cheryl at Lion in the Sun for our Save the Dates and invitations. I later found out my mom also worked with Cheryl for my shower invites. Lion in the Sun has invitations that span every budget. We were looking for invitations in the lower end of prices and Cheryl made sure to respect that and only showed us invitations that were within our budget. By the time it was time to order invitations we were so tired of having to travel out to Long Island from Brooklyn to visit vendors. So I googled some local places we could go to. Originally I was going to do it online but then I realized after ordering some samples from places like Wedding Paper Divas that things are not always what they seem online and in real life. You have to see and feel your invitations! So we personally went into Lion in The Sun in park slope Brooklyn, like 10 minutes from where we live, and had fun looking through books and settled on invitations. I kinda let my husband lead the torch on the look and feel. He knew what he was doing and I rather him feel included in everything we were doing. Invitations were gorgeous and they came in fast! They sent proofs through emails. We ended up doing letter press invitations and made sure they were light in weight so we didn't have to spend an arm and a leg mailing them out. I highly recommend this place. Great people and easy to work with.

Lion in the Sun is the loveliest shop, and they did such a beautiful job on our invitations. They have a large selection of budget-friendly options, particularly their own brand, Postscript Brooklyn, and their customer service is incredible. The owner always welcomed us warmly, and they even let our dog come every time. We were also able to just pop in and meet with someone, and their whole staff is super friendly and so helpful. Invitations can be very overwhelming, and their huge array of samples really helps you narrow things down. They're also great with tricky nitpicky stuff like wording and whose names should go first, and they have everything from super traditional to really quirky and different. They don't pressure you into a whole suite of stuff, and we got exactly what we wanted, for a price that made us happy. We also used them for escort cards and individualized menus, which were charming and a big hit the night of our wedding. They give you lots of computer proofs, so you can keep editing and see how things look, and they were always prompt with printing. We were just thrilled with our invitations, and that was all thanks to Lion in the Sun.

I used Lion in the Sun Press for a Postscript Brooklyn invitation suite (letterpress), save the dates (digital), thank you notes (digital) and day of paperie. They were wonderful. All of the paper products were extremely high quality and I got tons of compliments on them. We particularly loved the NYC scenes that were a little different from the ordinary city skyline - we were able to pick out a suite that featured my husband's childhood neighborhood and a thank you note that was personalized to our block. Ella at Lion in the Sun was incredibly patient with me, walking me through all the options several times and responding extremely quickly to all my emailed questions and last minute changes. The digital calligraphy feature was a great value, and overall, Postscript/Lion in the Sun has great prices for letterpress for New York City (I had almost given up on letterpress after meeting with the people at Alpine Creative Group and getting very discouraged). We had a lot of fun designing some of our day-of elements, including personalized stickers and cocktail napkins that were priced competitively with what we could have gotten from the Knot, but featured our invitation theme.

We bought our letterpress wedding invitations through Lion in the Sun. As soon as we walked into the cute, inviting store, the people there were very welcoming. They patiently explained how everything worked and talked with us to figure out what we wanted, since we weren't sure. They had an amazing selection of gorgeous invitations, and the ones we picked out, from Bella Figura, were so unique and beautiful. They definitely didn't look like your average cookie-cutter invitations. The friendly staff had great advice about wording and other etiquette questions, and we had a wonderful experience with them from start to finish.

The folks at Lion in the Sun were a pleasure to work with from start to finish. I wasn't the kind of bride that was *too* into my invitations, but I definitely didn't want something too cookie cutter, either. Since our wedding was in NYC, we wanted something that reflected the city. Lion in the Sun had a ton of options to choose from at a variety of different price points. We ended up going with something from their PS Brooklyn line, which we absolutely loved. We didn't think we could afford letterpress, but ended up being able to swing it by doing our main invite card in letterpress and the other pieces of the invitation suite digitally. We also chose a "web card" directing folks to our wedding web site in lieu of a directions card, hotel info enclosure, etc., which was another great way to cut down on costs. We couldn't have been happier with the final results! The invitations turned out perfectly and got rave reviews from everyone who received one. I'd definitely come back to Lion in the Sun for any other paper/invitation needs in the future.

Invitations were low on my budget totem pole when it came to the wedding. I wanted beautiful, classy invitations to match the theme of my NYC wedding, but didn't want to spend a fortune. After many disastrous meetings with other invitation vendors, I almost lost hope until I visited Lion in the Sun in Park Slope. I met with Mel, and she was really patient and helpful with me since I was a bit indecisive on what it was that I was looking for. We found the perfect invitation - a mix of classic and contemporary and I was able to customize it so that it spoke to our wedding a bit more. The best part is, I was able to get everything I wanted for a very reasonable budget. I loved my invitations and got a ton of compliments on them. I'd definitely recommend visiting the Lion in the Sun store in Park Slope and checking out their selection - they really seem to have something for everyone! And the team is great to work with!

We chose Lion in the Sun as our wedding invitations vendor on a friend's recommendation and after going in the shop once we did not look any further. The staff is nice, friendly, professional, extremely knowledgable and we had an amazing experience.

I can't really speak to price as compared to other vendors since we did not price compare with other stores, but for the price we paid the customer service and quality of our invitations was unmatchable!

We LOVE Lion In The Sun and will DEFINITELY be going back for future invitations, pens, stationary and just to say hi!

We loved the idea of supporting local Brooklyn artists who designed our invitations for a NYC - themed wedding. Mary, Mary, Mary, this woman was INCREDIBLE. She got more excited about my Wedding than I did. We ordered Save The Date cards, invitations (and accompanying directions, accomodation, and registry inserts) menus and ceremony programs from Mary at Lion In The Sun. Lion in the Sun did our save the date cards, invitations thank you cards, and place cards and we were so pleased with the results. The team at the store helped us design an invitation that fit our wedding style and so many of our guests commented on how much they loved it all. They were very responsive with our requested changes and in providing new proofs and were flexible with our work schedules and able to do so much over email. Lion in the Sun is the best, the best, the best. They worked with us on design and customization options and were very responsive to our comments on each round of proofs. We ended up with a Save the Date and wedding suite that we just LOVED. We even had a few different types of custom stationery made using elements of our wedding invitation design. When there was a slight issue with the printing on our wedding program, they had it redone in short order, no questions asked — they’re just as professional and top notch as you can imagine, and it was a big relief to know we were in such good hands on the paper front. Lion in the Sun was fabulous. I found them because when I was stalking pictures of our chosen wedding venue, the Prospect Park Boathouse, I found a picture of an invite with a picture of the Boathouse, and it's iconic street lamps. I knew I wanted those for my own wedding and tracked down the invite to Lion in the Sun. Nora worked with us to customize the design to suit our own needs and I couldn't have been happier with out they turned out. They were STUNNING. Is it weird to love your wedding invites? The letterpress was just so gorgeous, and they allowed us just the right amount of customization. For example, we love penguins, so not only did we add penguins to our response card (because, hey, why not?) but the designers also incorporated them into the image of the Boathouse, with little tiny guard penguins on either side.

Not getting married at the Boathouse? No problem. They have so many fabulous designs, with a number designed around different unique Brooklyn venues.

I was procrastinating heavily when I stepped into Lion in the Sun and into the capable care of Hayley. I really wanted crazy color and all sorts of blinged out wonder for my invitations and nothing could have excited Hayley more. She brought out tons of samples of the best neon and metallic foil and I almost fainted from joy!

I supplied my own design, which was the easiest process ever. And Hayley did not even bat an eye at my tardiness at ordering invitations. It all just got done.

When the invitations came in, the printer had unfortunately made an error and left the edges of my invites unpainted. Not to worry, Hayley & Co sent them back immediately and when they arrived, Hayley personally delivered them to my fiance at his office. Amazing.

I would recommend them to anyone!

We were very happy with our invitations and save the dates. They offer a great variety of pre-designed options and are very flexible if you want to do something custom (which we did for our save the dates). It took only about a week to get everything and they looked fantastic!

If you really care about the quality and design of your invites, and want to be able to customize them, we highly recommend Lion in the Sun. It's great to be able to sit in a store, speak with an expert, and look at and touch hundreds of stationery options. We enjoyed working with Marjorie, who acted as a project manager and design helper.

Our one complaint is that it's much more expensive than ordering from a Minted, Paper Source, Wedding Paper Divas, etc., though we were happy we went this route since my fiance and I are both in creative industries and cared about the invites.

They give you 10% off day-of stationery (menus, programs, place cards, etc.) if you order invites through them, but we opted to do those through one of the online services because even with the 10% discount, we would have paid hundreds more than the online service we are going to use. And unlike the invite, I don't think we'll be framing the menus or place cards.

Absolutely beautiful invitations! I wanted them custom printed based on a watercolour painting I had made, and they did so in record time. I was completely included in every step of the process, as they sent me emailed proofs of my invitations, and made changes when I requested them. Personal customer service was astounding! Rather expensive, but definitely beautiful quality.

On weekends, this store is always busy with couples looking for invitation suite and other paper wedding materials. My husband and I were looking for very Brooklyn-esque save the dates and we came to the perfect place. We purchased about 100 vintage-looking "Greetings from Brooklyn" postcards with our wedding info printed on the backside and they were ready a week later! The designers there was very helpful and patient when it comes to making necessary changes.

Lion in the Sun has been awesome for our invitations. They have some gorgeous designs that helped us bridge the traditional with something more whimsical at a reasonable price. They are better in person than over email - go into the store and get all the advice you'll need as you create your invitations!

My invitations were beautiful. They were exactly what I wanted. Letterpress, custom colors, just the right cardstock. The customer service was amazing, Cindy walked me through the whole process. She had so much patience with me, it was so hard getting the colors just right. In the end it ended up costing me a lot (about $25 an invitation) but for getting exactly what I wanted with amazing customer service it was worth it.

We did our rehearsal dinner invitations and wedding invitations as well as escort cards from Lion in the Sun and were very happy with the final product. We selected hand done leterpressed inviations and they were perfect - elegant, simple, and beautiful. They did run quite expensive, but had different options for letterpress invitations and were willing to work with us. We did not find another place like this one in New York City.

I don't remember the womans name I started working with there but she was great. I had a friend reccomend them to me and I really loved them. The invites were so pretty and they took care of all the little printing details i needed. They were a bit more money then others but totally worth it!!!

We incorporated the artwork of a friend in to our invitation, and the folks at Lion in the Sun were really accommodating. The end result was a really beautiful original invitation. It was exactly what I wanted!

Lion and the Sun were great - all the staff were extremely helpful. We ordered both our invitations (William Arthur letterpress) and our programs with them and they made it so easy to narrow down our choices. They have a great range of options, from traditional to more funky, contemporary styles. We got rave responses from our guests to the invites. Another note, my fiance went in to pick out the programs on his own - the fact that they were able to work with him to create something beautiful is a true testament to this skill. Would not hesitate to work with them again!

I can't say enough wonderful things about Lion in the Sun. We worked with several members of their staff and every single one of them was amazing. They are completely flexible and open to executing whatever your vision is - they don't find customizations annoying, in fact they welcome it. Every time I told them of an idea the response was "Sure, we can probably do that!" What I also love about them is they don't act like money is no object. They will be honest and upfront about the cost implications of any decision you want to make. You can save $x if you eliminate this. If you add this it will add $x. This is sooo refreshing because nearly every other wedding vendor I've worked with acts like money grows on trees and guilts you into making a decision with cost in mind! This place has a lot of options and vendors so really you can do anything you want, the sky is the limit with options. I can't say enough great things about this place and would highly recommend them. The owner is very warm and experienced. We predominantly worked with Nora and she was so approachable and easy to work with.

The staff at Lion in the Sun was fantastic about helping me put together our wedding invitation--right down to being patient when I took two weeks to finalize all the text! Melinda can come off as a little bossy when first working with her, but if you verbalize what you want from your invitation, she is all about making sure you get what you want...so don't be put off. The invitations arrived on time and beautifully. Highly Recommended.

We brought a custom design to Lion in the Sun for printing, as well as a fairly tight budget. Alison was extremely helpful in showing us the options for invites. She sat with me for quite a while on more than one occasion to lay out exactly why we wanted. We decided on a tri-fold design using thermographed copy (a big element on my wish list). We were really happy with the format (and price!) of the invites, but the color came out wrong, which was pretty disappointing. This wasn't necessarily the fault of anyone at the stationers, but we'd definitely suggest getting a hard-copy proof before confirming your order!

We got our wedding invitations through Lion in the Sun. On the whole, it turned out well - Melinda was great at helping us navigate the various options available, while also navigating a tough Mother-of-the-Bride, etc. There was a bit more back and forth over proofs than we'd anticipated (typos, issues with initial font not being the one we'd selected) - but they were really quick on the turnaround and we were really happy with the final product. Totally fair value - I think they can work with a wide range of budgets - but you're probably not coming here if you want the cheapest possible invite or a "deal", etc.

I asked Lion in the Sun for calligraphy on our invitation envelopes. It turned out to be beautiful and everybody loved them!! Other calligrapher passed last half of invitation out of blue and I had to find someone urgently. They have three calligrapher in house so they found one of them who was available to work very quickly. They locate in brooklyn which is not hard for most of the people to come over and meeting with the sales person to tell exactly what you want was really helpful. The price is pretty average and there was no mistake in the name which was the most important.

We got our wedding invitations from Lion in the Sun and, even three months after, I still love them. Melinda was great to work with and ended up finding us a design that we loved. It was pricey, but worth it for the invitations. I found it easiest to communicate in person, which was a little tough since I don't live in New York and had to plan my visits, but I would highly recommend Lion in the Sun if you do.

I have trouble writing this review because I think that Lion in the Sun has great potential and could probably be a wonderful place for many people to get their invitations, but we happen to have had a stressful experience. Therefore, while I don't recommend the store to my friends who are getting married, I wouldn't necessarily recommend against it either. Honestly, if I had to do it all over again I would use a different company.

In the end our invitations turned out quite nicely. It just took a long time to get to that point, mainly because our initial consultation was fraught with misinformation given to us. I won't go into all of the details, but suffice it to say that the invitations quickly became the most stressful part of my wedding planning. There was very much back and forth over e-mail -- luckily, the staff member we were working with was very responsive to e-mail. Even during the proof process it seemed that things kept coming back with mysterious mistakes which had to then be fixed and go through another round of proofs (many of these were probably errors on the printer's end and not the store's though). The store was indeed responsive -- they ended up giving us a discount for our trouble.

Very knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly staff, but we had to go through many iterations of our proof because of misspelling and miscommunication between Lion and the Sun and the company the invites were ordered from. (including misspelling our names, address, key information about the event). The invites are expensive as well, even for very basic versions. We went through our process of ordering very far in advance so the many iterations were not a problem but could have been if you were on a tight timeline.
