We immediately knew we hired the right company when we signed on with Matthew. He was flexible, thoughtful and clearly loved his work. Best of all, he wanted us to be happy. My wife and I immediately felt comfortable with him during our engagement shoot—Matthew had a way of making us smile and laugh whenever we got too serious or in our heads.
Obviously, the wedding to come would not turn out the way either party expected. COVID changed everything, but Matthew not only understood, he made it even more special by partnering with a videographer to make up for the lost hours and time of our original ceremony. The incredible result helped us show ourselves off to the friends and family that couldn’t be there. It made me cry, made my wife cry, and our parents cry, and I’m tempted to submit it for the Oscars.
My wife and I got married with Matthew, his videographer Kaleb, and only four other people in attendance, two of whom were vendors. That we don’t have any regrets about it, and that it felt like we had the wedding of our dreams anyway is in part due to the work Legacy Union put into the photos and video of the event.
Matthew did not treat us like clients, but as friends, and that’s exactly what we needed in 2020. We’re so grateful to have found him. -

Matthew is an amazing wedding photographer and I highly recommend him and his company Legacy Union Photo Co. to anyone looking to beautifully capture their wedding day. My wife and I were initially nervous as we had never worked with a professional photographer before. But Matthew's friendly personality and his experience allowed us to be comfortable and trust that we would end up with spectacular photos. Our video chat and engagement photo shoot experiences helped solidify that comfort and trust for us and we went into our wedding day knowing that we were in good hands. On top of that, Matthew made it easy to coordinate for the wedding as he is a great communicator and follows up quickly with emails. We couldn't be happier with our choice in wedding photographer. -

The perfect team! My fiancé organised a surprise proposal, I didn’t see the team until after THE moment! They were discreet, friendly and helped us be comfortable for the shooting after! The pictures were so good, created happy tears for our families! I asked for some retouch (I scratched my hand right before the proposal of course) and they made everything work to the tea. The video looks like a film trailer! Matt was so professional and sent us the results very quickly! So from a very picky French lady, if you want your Pinterest inspiration to come to life they are the way to go! -

We're so happy we chose Matthew to photograph our wedding and engagement photos. He was so responsive and easy to work with from start to finish. He showed up early to both events, and went above and beyond. We got SO many compliments on both sets of photos, with so many people saying "wow you had a great photographer!" Matthew caught amazing pictures of us, all of our guests, and all the details of our wedding! His turnaround time for engagement photos, wedding sneak peak, and wedding album was also super impressive. Such an easy and great choice choosing legacy union for our wedding! -

My dream photos
Matthew and his second shooter Ariel were incredible. My husband and I are speechless at our photos. Matthew was able to capture our love in a way that felt so natural and easy. He was organized, timely, and professional. The cocktail hour was shot by his second shooter and our guests RAVED about her!
I wish I had more words to describe the experience we had working with Matthew!
He is open to adjusting your package if needed (which we did) as well as so helpful with consulting on the wedding timeline, shot lists, etc. We did not go with videography but we’re nearly kicking purselves over it because we can tell it would have been perfection! -

We booked Matthew for our wedding in DTLA and he was awesome! We weren't sure initially how he would be since his services were so affordable but the photos ended up super polished and beautiful. He took instruction and feedback and ideas super well. That is, we had an idea to do selfie style photos for everyone and he understood the assignment and knocked them out of the park. On the other hand, he gave guidance and direction while taking photos very well. He's super nice and easy to work with. Highly recommend! -

Matt is the best! He's experienced, very responsive, flexible and organized, answered our many questions and gave us recommendations that really help us calm our pre-wedding jitters. The day of our wedding was 90F+, but that did not deter Matt one bit, he is extremely hardworking and efficient, we were amazed at what he was able to cover as a solo photographer for our wedding of 150. As for the photos, WOW!! they were beaaauuutiful! We are noramlly not good photo posers, but somehow we look relaxed and great in every shot ;) We are going to have so much trouble choosing which ones to print. Thank you Matt for giving us photos to cherish for life! Highly recommend. -

Can’t say enough good things about Matthew and Legacy Union Photo Co for our engagement photos! Matthew was prompt and responsive via email, very accessible, and prepared us well for the day of our shoot. He gives you a few location options for your session, we chose ours to be Pasadena City Hall. Day of, he was on time and ready. Friendly and professional all the way, he took us to prime picturesque spots and had us try a variety of poses and moments. Many were his suggestion but he was open to our ideas too. He did not waste a moment of time and was always ready with his gear and suggestions. We got a lot of photos and it went by quicker than we thought. When Matthew sent us the link with the select photos that he expertly touched up, we were very happy with the results. We sent many to friends and family and also posted a few on our wedding website.
I cannot recommend Legacy Union Photo Co and Matthew enough for your engagement photos. We felt we were in good hands and the pictures proved it to be true. -

Amazing experience
I recently had my engagement photoshoot with Matt on 05/18/2022. Our photoshoot was held in the Malibu mountains, I am so happy to have had the amazing experience Matt provided. He made our photoshoot experience so memorable and fun. I couldn't have asked for a better photographer. The photos were ready earlier than expected and they are amazing! I highly recommend Matt, he is such a nice guy and makes you feel comfortable and was great at giving my partner direction on posing. This was my Fiancés and I's first time doing any photoshoot together and I just can't stop raving about how our experience was so great! I wish I could rate 100 STARS!! -

My husband Steven and I had the absolute best time working with Matthew and his team at Legacy Union. The day of the wedding can be stressful and chaotic at times, but Matthew made sure to make us feel prioritized, taken care of and special throughout the entire day/night. I don’t know if we would have even thought of asking to take extra pictures of just the two of us during the reception. Luckily, Matthew kindly asked if we wanted to go back outside and shoot some more photos, where he and the videographer captured some incredible moments, during golden hour and then again during blue hour. We were beyond blown away and happy with our photos and videos. -

Honestly- don’t look further! That were the best pictures! We had a bohemian wedding and the pictures were on point!
The photographer was on time and was quick in getting the shots .

Great experience!
We used Matthew for our wedding day photography because we liked his photography and editing style. We interviewed him and felt immediately at ease with his professionalism and personality. Matthew’s work is amazing! We loved our wedding pictures. He’s very professional, and knew exactly how to get the best shot by making us confortable. We could not have asked for a better experience, or better pictures! In addition to that, prior to the wedding he was very kind and flexible: our wedding was happening during Covid and we had to reschedule twice. He made it very easy for us to pick another date, and even gave us a list of alternative suggestions since our wedding venue went bankrupt. All in all, we would recommend Matthew 150%! -

Matthew did an amazing job during our engagement video shoot and our wedding!! He is so creative, patient, and collaborative. Videos were delivered on time and were so beautiful! I continuously receive compliments on our engagement and wedding videos. Even though there were many changes regarding our wedding due to the pandemic, Matthew coordinated with Leo and I and truly helped me make my backyard wedding a successful one. We had met several times discussing the details and those were super helpful. Honestly, the wedding was eventually becoming stressful as it got closer but knowing I have a great videographer by my side definitely provided sense of comfort and peace. If you’re looking for someone reliable, professional, relatable, and artistic, I highly recommend Legacy Union!!!! I will recommend him to my friends & families any day with no hesitation. Matthew was quick to respond after reaching out about pricing and options for an engagement shoot. He was super flexible with dates/times after life made us postpone our first date and we really appreciated that! Matthew was friendly and made us both feel super comfortable in front of the camera - we'd never had any "real" photos taken together and I wasn't sure if we'd look or feel uncomfortable, but Matthew made it super easy and made us feel like models! We had a more casual outfit for the engagement photos and then fancier clothes that we were going to wear for our Zoom wedding a couple weeks later (thanks COVID!) and he treated the photos we took in the fancy clothes like the wedding photos we weren't going to be able to have for that day - I couldn't have been happier! When we got the link to our photos, we were completely blown away! For a session that was less than 2 hours, he provided us with great variety and edits on over 300 (!!) photos.. I couldn't believe it - and delivered only 2 weeks after our shoot. The only negative is that I don't know how to choose from all the amazing shots... I guess my walls will just be covered in all of them :-) His gallery portal was super user friendly and easy to share and download. I highly recommend Matthew and so appreciate him helping us turn a weird situation with our engagement/wedding and the potential for it not feeling very special, into a day that was amazing and photos that I am excited to share with family and friends and will truly be family heirlooms. By far the most talented photographer my husband and I have ever worked with!
Matthew has an amazing eye at scouting out places and capturing the most intimate and precious moments during our destination wedding. He went above and beyond on our wedding day to capture incredible images. Matt made sure he was in every single place before people arrived, during and after even when we didn't request him to!
Our wedding day included a tea ceremony as well as a western style ceremony, a reception, traditional games and a party not to mention I had 4 outfit changes! He was on time, dressed the part and at every single place. It was so much more than what we ever asked and expected him to do!
Going through his pictures allowed us to relive that special day and look back at all the amazing memories we made. It was incredible to see how so many emotions were captured in his images; as if he connected with us and guided us allowing us to be comfortable being ourselves and all the emotions we went through during our special day.
There were also so many candid moments he captured we weren't even aware of and it was so nice to be able to look through them! He literally made us and our guests smile from ear to ear.
One can tell Matt is highly experienced with photography because we had no idea how to even organize family and friends to make sure we got pictures with everyone. THANK GOODNESS for his guidance and planning for our photo session, he helped calm my stress level and facilitated so many things. Not only is he kind, he is wonderful and patient with kids and great at making kids, toddlers, babies smile and look at the camera.
His services after the wedding such as touching up on images and making sure my husband and I were 110% satisfied with his work were beyond what we had expected. Matt always had a positive attitude and was constantly communicating with us.
Needless to say, Matthew is an incredible professional and has a gift with what he dedicates himself to! We are so lucky he agreed to photograph us at our destination wedding. We would highly recommend his services any day! -

We love Matthew and his couple photography, we love him so much we flew him out to Mexico to do the photography for our wedding.
Matthew is professional, very good at directing you to get the most flattering photograph and very smart when it comes to capturing moments. He responds quickly when you have any questions or concerns, and he did a wonderful job with the editing and I received the photos in a timely fashion.
I would highly recommend. By luck I came across him online for our engagement shoot and we will be turning to Matthew for all of our future photography. -

Matthew Smith captured our wedding beautifully. Not only did he travel half way across the country to document our day, but he worked tirelessly from the moment the day began to the end of the reception with patience and poise.
I was honestly a little overwhelmed by the responsibilities of the day and worrying if people were having a good time, I'm glad that one thing I didn't have to worry about was the photography. From walking through the day in Skype calls and email correspondence, everything was thought out and well organized.
Matt knew how to bring out our best and was efficient about directing us as a couple and with our wedding party! Getting the photos was super quick and seamless with the online gallery and flash drive in the mail.
There are so many good moments from throughout the entire day!
We're really happy with how our photos turned out and we're already a little sad that we'll probably never look as good as we do in those photos! We highly recommend Matthew to anyone getting married!

Matthew has a great eye and is very professional!
We absolutely loved our engagement photos with Matthew! My favorite photo from our session became our invitation :). Right from the start, Matthew was very professional. He arrived early to the site and came prepared to the shoot with many ideas and already several locations in mind. We’re not use to taking professional photos but he was very patient with us and made us feel comfortable by providing specific directions when we didn’t know how to pose. Matthew also made the follow-ups very easy. He always responded within 1 business day, and he posted our pictures with a quick turnaround which included great edits! Additionally, the site he used for viewing the photos loaded pretty fast (which is important when you’re choosing from a lot of shots) and was very user friendly.
From start to finish, he was such a pleasure to work with and we wholeheartedly recommend him.

I cannot say enough good things about Legacy Union! This photographer arrived extra early on my wedding day and was already taking beautiful candid photos of everyone as they arrived, started mingling, and getting ready before I said anything to him at all. It was SO nice because your wedding day can feel kind of stressful and chaotic, but this photographer was there capturing every moment without me having to ask or direct him at all. After we received our pictures, It was like opening a whole new wedding gift to see all of the precious moments he had captured during the wedding that I didn't even know about!! - Like my little flower girl receiving a backstage "cheek kiss" from the ring bearer, and members of my family laughing and enjoying each other's company before the service started. There were several funny, memorable moments during both the service and the reception that he captured in detail and I will always treasure those amazing candid photographs!
In fact, all of his photographs were gorgeous and the editing was superb (the photos of my in my dress on our college campus looked so dramatic and beautiful), but one of my favorite parts of his photography is the way he captured the candid moments at our wedding. He never stopped shooting throughout the entire reception, and the precious moments that he captured of my parents and grandparents dancing, my friends, my husband and I doing goofy dance moves, and all of my family and friends enjoying a rare time of being in the same place on the same day is something I'll never be able to thank him enough for.
My girlfriends who got married around the same time as me were all jealous of the amazing photographer that I had, and wished that they had asked him to take their photos as well! Thank you, Legacy Union! -

My bridal photos are of high quality, professional, and embarrassingly outshine all other photos I've gotten back from any other photographer. I'm really happy that I got to work with someone that is patient, kind and has the work ethic to match his talent. He does an excellent job of directing you during the photo session (especially if you are camera awkward like me) and knowing where to take the best photos. I've had the pleasure of working with him a few times and I was always relaxed because it's obvious he knows what he is doing. I would highly recommend him to do any of your photography needs. You may regret it if you don't get the best of the best for photos you'll have forever.

He was very friendly and professional and directed us very well in all the best poses and angles. It made it effortless for us. Our photographs couldn’t have turned out better! He went out of his way to meet us way outside the city where we wanted our shoot to be done. He has a great eye. I have recommended him to other friends already.
The photos were presented to us on his site which was easy to navigate and had the photos in different formats including high-Res and social media sharing format. -

He responded right away, and he was very professional with a beautiful website. The day of the shoot, he met us at a location 2 hours away from the city, he even showed up early to scout out the location.
He was very easy going with what we wanted, but also knew how to direct us to get the perfect shot.
It didn’t take too long to receive the photographs. I really liked the way they were presented - through his website for easy access with the option to download any or all of them in a selection of high resolution for printing or regular format.
I highly recommend him!! If I need any more photos in the future I plan to use him again.
