Wedding reception

Five stars!!

I gave these guys 5 stars on everything because they truly were amazing! They’re SO easy to work with and they do an amazing job. Joy responds so quickly every time, she was personable and easy to work with. She’s got a LOT of experience and she knew what to do, I hardly had to do anything and that was a huge stress relief. The food was so good, everyone at my wedding commented on it and I didn’t see one plate with food left on it. They’re very accommodating as well and willing to work with how I wanted things to go. I could not thank them enough. 5 stars all the way!!

I am a Wedding Planner (LNN Planning And Design LLC) in the Houston and surrounding areas and have worked with the owner Joy of Lanier’s Catering for multiple weddings. Joy is a beautiful person to work with along with her staff. They provide professional service when working together a the food is very delicious with lots of flavor.

I definitely recommend Lanier’s Catering to all of my clients!

Excellent!!

Joy, her kitchen, and wait staff cooked and served the food for my wedding reception. Everything was excellent, from the food to the presentation to the wait staff service and their timely attention to guests. I especially enjoyed Joy’s professionalism and personality and could really see the passion she has for catering. She tended to my every need and made the catering part of my special day a smooth and uninterrupted process. I would definitely recommend this vendor to others and would hire them again for other events of mine.

Had an incredible time

The day i had my initial taste test i was blown away everything was well prepared, plated and absolutely delicious did not hesitate to Book Joy, i was even more amazed the day of my event, Presentation was excellent, responds very quickly and efficiently to changes and request. The whole process was just so easy. We also saved money on buffet service i feel compared to others. Will definitely continue to do business with you and wish you the best

Lanier’s Catering

Lanier’s catered a party at my retirement home in The Woodlands. Not only was the food delicious but Joy’s presence was a huge blessing. Months later residents are still talking about how great the evening was. The presentation was excellent, delivery on time, & the hospitality top notch. I highly recommend Joy. She definitely brought “joy” to our event.

Best Christmas Party Ever

Joy was amazing. She was very professional and gave me much needed advice and suggestions throughout the whole planning process from start to finish. We hired her for our family Christmas party and she went over and above to make it a success. We began the day with a brunch in which she put on an amazing presentation at the 2 pasta stations. She then prepared a Hawaiian luau FEAST for dinner with a whole roasted hog and all the sides to go with it. Everyone was very pleased with the delicious food. Joy was so pleasant to work with as well. She is very friendly and very communicative. She always answered my questions right away. I give her a 10+ and highly recommend her services.

Went above & beyond!

I want to start with saying how grateful and pleased I was with choosing Laniers Catering!
I had received so many wonderful comments that the food was delicious!! I had chosen Two choices of entrees: Steak and Chicken Cordon Bleu with Alfredo Sauce over it and sides of Mashed potatoes & steamed vegetables.
Before getting married many previous brides had told me was that the food was what they least remember either because they were too busy, too nervous to eat or too busy greeting their guests that they don’t remember how their food tasted... but not me! I made sure I had a taste of both plates and I could not get enough of it!
To top it all off Joy added the small requests that I had requested on our food and that put a smile on our faces when we were first served ☺️
I can not thank you enough for the wonderful food. THANK YOU!

Great food and experience!

Covid ruined our original wedding plans, so I had to completely change our plans last minute. I found Laniers online and Joy was extremely helpful and responsive . Our wedding was supposed to be in Hawaii, so we wanted Hawaiian type foods and Joy had a wonderful selection to choose from. The food was amazing! So much flavor, great portions, and the price was unbeatable when comparing to other caterers. On the day of our event, they showed up on time and with no issues. I would definitely use them again for an event.

Laniers’s did an excellent job catering my wedding. Joy was always a great help and bent over backwards to ensure a great experience for us. Even our wedding venue owner gave her tons of compliments as well. The food was great! All of our guests enjoyed it. I was very pleased overall. Thanks again Laniers! I highly recommend them.

Excellent Experience

We chose Laniers Catering for our wedding last weekend and thoroughly enjoyed working with Joy and her team. They were very professional, easy to work with, their menu was priced fairly, and the food was excellent! After reading one of the past reviewers experience, we decided to call Joy to understand if the situation described was a one-off and she assured us it was a unique situation out of her control. We are very pleased with their service and look forward to using them again in the future.

Delicious!!

Joy and her staff are amazing! The food was Mexican good- beef and chicken fajitas. I had her food from another wedding and knew I needed it at mine!! She was great with the issues my venue made for us and made sure as the bride, I was taken care of! She is responsive and professional!

I had a wedding of about 206 and we ordered the sizzling fajitas. Literally every single guest said that dinner was the best they ever had at a wedding. Joy was incredible to work with and handled all my pre- wedding jitters more then you know! She was so flexible every time I wanted to add or remove anything from my order ... which with the always changing invite list it happened more then not. It was so wonderful having a caterer who acted so professionally and friendly. I recommend 100 times over!

I only had about 5 1/2 months to plan my wedding. I found Laniers Catering and worked with Joy. She responded immediately to my inquiry. She was pleasant, attentive and we established a great repoire. Laniers' and Joy's knowledge and experience in catering events was extremely beneficial to my husband and I. Based on the details we were able to provide, Joy educated us on details that we didn't realize we needed to consider and were able to implement those suggestions. Flexibility--I must mention how happy I was with how accommodating they were. We had several meetings in which we made adjustments, we were able to taste the food, which was very good! There is variety in the menu options and we were able to make last minute changes 3 weeks prior to the wedding and they offered options for guests who have special diets (something I almost forgot when choosing the menu--this was actually brought to my attention by Joy). Staff: The staff are some of the nicest, professional people I've met. My guests made sure to mention to me how impressed they were with the staff. They greeted my guests, were prompt with serving food and were very attentive and kept a steady flow of food. My wedding was amazing, my guests had a great time and they enjoyed the food so much that we had nothing left! Thank You Laniers Catering!

Great food and friendly staff

Joy with Laniers catering was great. She made sure that all the food was exactly what we wanted and worked with our budget since there were some services we wanted to add and some we didn’t need. The food was FANTASTIC!! We had traditional Texan food (brisket and sausage) and I could not get enough! I would highly recommend them because I’m sure whatever comes out of their kitchen, is top notch!

Scammers and the WORST caterers EVER

If I could give 0 stars I definitely would! Brides please take my advice and stay away from Laniers & Joy’s catering. She ruined my wedding day by showing up with only 1/2 the food and then coming back an hour later with another 1/2 that was undercooked and cold. She then “fake” cried in the parking lot and brought chicken and potato salad from the grocery store because she didn’t prepare the right amount. It was literally a catastrophe and so embarrassing because I worked so hard to ensure everything was well prepared and fancy. I say all that to say that this was the absolute worst vendor and decision I made as a bride for my wedding day. Please do not allow her or this company ruin your day

Joy ruined my wedding day

Do not hire this vendor if you want a smooth event! Joy (the owner/executive chef) ruined my wedding day. She is a sweet talker but did not deliver a single thing she promised me.

I spent $12000 for 275 guests plated dinner

She arrived at the wedding 1 hr late. She didn't start serving the main entree until 25 mins after the scheduled time (timeline was given a week before, the night before, and right after she arrived at the venue). An hour into the reception, I noticed a lot of people are still waiting for their food and then Joy came up to me saying that my wedding coordinator didn't tell her to start plating so she didn't start. It is common sense to start plating well before the schedule serving time. My coordinator had to help delivering food. Joy's 7 servers were so untrained. They never worked with her before. And one of the servers told us that Joy's work is a mess. My family (dad and brother) kept checking what's going on in the kitchen. After 1.5 hours into the reception, I was getting impatient so I (the bride) and the groom walked into the kitchen to check on the situation. I saw that the caterer didn't bring any food warmer. When I went in there, I saw aluminum trays of beef and she was cooking something in a small electric pan. Why is still cooking food 1.5 hrs into the event? The food are supposed to arrive ready to serve at the venue in food warmers. I saw no food warmers.
Her operation is so not professional. She would tell you the event will run smoothly and she will deliver. But she did not deliver a single thing she promised. She is a sweet talker. BEWARE! The food came out cold. A lot of guests complained of cold food. And halfway into the reception she ran out of fish and chicken, when I already emailed her the meal count 2 weeks in advance before she ordered all the stuff. My guests were not getting the food they RSVP'd for. Half of my guests had to wait for 2 hours for food to be delivered. And the food was cold and lacking several items.

Original contract that we signed 9 months before the wedding is for 275 people so she has 9 months to figure out how much food she needs to cook and deliver.

If she could not handle my party size (275) she should have told me since the beginning. But she kept telling me she will execute everything perfectly and beautifully.

Now I'm gonna always remember this disastrous moment at my wedding.
I've been planning this wedding for 10 months. And my biggest mistake was to hire her. I really regret hiring her.

Please ignore the wedding wire couple's award because that does not show the quality of the vendors.
