Great find….Tasted as good as it looked!

This was very last minute (the day before actually). Showed them a picture of what I was looking for with a few modifications and it was done the very next day! Tasted as good as it looked. Guests all asked where I had the cake made. Made my daughter’s 21st birthday “sweeter”.

Perfect Wedding Cake

Lakes Cakes did an amazing job on our wedding cake. I sent Heidi a picture of what I wanted it to look like with a few modifications, and she nailed it. It looked exactly how I wanted it to look. It was beautiful. It's not just the look of the cake though. The taste of the cake is delicious. She offers a pickup tasting option which is super convenient. Lakes Cakes is more affordable than a lot of other companies that produce similar products. I definitely recommend them without hesitation.

Guests are stilling complimenting me about my cake

The wedding cake was absolutely perfect. Not only beautiful but
outstandingly delicious!
It was served as a second desert at the restaurant, hand delivered
to each guest by my new husband and and me and the raves
started with the first table and continued till the last piece was
served.
We sincerely thank you for the perfect end to a beautiful wedding

Beautiful and delicious wedding cake

Our wedding cake was beautiful and delicious! Lakes Cakes price was about half of what another company quoted me. Very happy with my cake designer!

Wonderful experience!

I am extremely pleased with the quality of service I received from Lakes Cakes. I sent them a photo of my desired design and number of servings needed, and they provided me with an "out the door" quote. Sampling the cakes was very convenient. I simply scheduled a sample box pickup. My fiancée and I were impressed with the samples. Other places gave us a couple tiny pieces of cake, while Lakes Cakes gave us 8 cupcake sized pieces of cake and then some mousses and things. On our wedding day, the cake was beautiful and tasted delicious!!

No Cake Leftovers at this wedding!

We loved LakesCakes. Their location is out of their home which is personable and conveniently located. We loved almost every kind of cake & mouse filling that we tried. Their cake was very affordable. We compared their pricing to Costco, and as Costco price was cheaper, LakesCakes provided more layers of cake per slice, than Costco. We were able to rent the cake stand which made our cake pictures beautiful. Everyone loved the 5 different kinds of cake that we chose and we did not have any left over.

We had two wedding cakes at our wedding. One regular one and one gluten and dairy free cake, which was quite a challenge. Lakes Cakes did an amazing job. The taste was great and they looked amazing. We loved their butter cream.
I can highly recommend Lakes Cakes.

Lakes Cakes was everything we could have hoped for in a cake provider. They provided a tasting box customized with the flavors which had already been decided, that remained excellent across three flights and the several days between my wife's initial tasting and my own. They were helpful trying to work within our budget, followed our particular requests for a naked style cake with minimal frosting perfectly, and were flexible in their delivery to ensure neither of us had to worry about the cake after the initial order. I could not recommend them highly enough.

Lakes of Cakes created a beautiful wedding cake for us! It was so yummy! Their rates are VERY reasonable and I loved how they listened to exactly everything that we wanted. They were on time, professional, and stayed to personally add the flowers our florist left to our cake. It was perfect!

We are returning customers because of the awesome work they do! Everything is delicious and beautifully decorated. This company was fantastic to work with. I called Lakes Cake less than thirty days prior to the wedding with a plea for help. Gregory and Heidi were so accommodating to make sure that they were able to create and deliver a cake that was absolutely stunning. So many guests commented how beautiful the cake looked. I can honestly say that there was more than enough cake with very little left because everyone wanted to take it home. I would without a doubt use Lakes Cakes again and would highly recommend anyone else to do the same.

Heidi was a joy to work with from start to finish! The private tasting takes place in her beautiful home, and she has so many wonderful flavors, it was hard to pick! She was always available and responded quickly when we had any questions, and was very communicative leading up in the last few weeks before the wedding. I would highly recommend lakes cakes! I traveled from Chicago to Michigan for my wedding and they were so accommodating in letting us come pick up samples. The cakes was raved about by guests! We chose the chocolate- strawberry swirl. Not something we would typically pick but the cake was amazing and we couldn't resist that choice!! The final product looked identical to the picture we chose and I am so happy with the outcome. They were prompt and easy to work with!

We ordered cupcakes with filling for our wedding and they were awesome! They delivered or cupcakes on time and they tasted great. Everyone at the wedding loved them. So many options to choose from too!

Lakes Cakes was fantastic even from the very beginning. Extremely prompt in answering all my questions. The tasting was fabulous in both that the cakes tasted amazing and because there were quite a bit to try so you knew exactly how everything was going to taste. And boy did it taste great! We had ordered a 3 tier wedding cake, neapolitan style so white, chocolate, and strawberry for the different tiers. We had ordered a cake to serve 100 and only about 85 came. However, there were only three pieces of cake from all three tiers left over. People loved it, and when I went to taste it after I understood. Lakes Cakes also did a fantastic job in decorating it. I gave her pictures of the lace details in my dress and she was able to recreate it in buttercream icing. She also decorated it beautifully with the flowers she was given. So much so that when I forgot the wedding cake topper, no one but myself even noticed it not being there. Would highly recommend!!

Our cake was awesome! I designed the cake with elements of several others I had seen online and Lakes Cakes did a perfect job of putting it together into a beautiful cake. They even had ideas of how to make it better, which I appreciated. Everything in the tasting box was so delicious we had trouble choosing flavors. We had almond cake with chocolate mousse which was just about the best thing I have ever tasted and lemon cake with raspberry mousse which was also super delicious. Everyone commented on how good the cake was! I liked that the frosting tasted so good and that it was three layers of cake, not two like a birthday cake. The even bigger bonus when planning a wedding was that Lakes Cakes was the second most affordable cake vendor we found. (The most affordable tasted like a cake mix with Jell-O instant pudding between the layers so in my opinion that doesn't even count as an option.) I also really liked that we weren't stuck at a cake size when we booked with them - another place we looked at had a minimum dollar amount. This was really good for us because we invited 150 people and ended up with 87 so we were able to save money by downsizing the cake.

We will DEFINITELY be getting more cakes from Lakes Cakes! It's worth the drive anytime we need a cake, it's THAT good!

Heidi and her husband were an absolute joy to work with for my wedding cake! I live very far away from where they work, so I have never met them in person, but they executed my vegan cake with perfection. The appearance was to die for, and exactly what I had requested. I even left Heidi random extra faux flowers from my arrangements, and she decorated my cake and cake stand with them. IT LOOKED AMAZING! All of my guests raved about the flavor of my cake (vegan pumpkin spice, with vegan buttercream frosting) and my husband and I ate the leftovers for breakfast the next morning. Not joking, Couldn't be happier with Lakes Cakes's customer service, presentation, and pricing. I still dream about eating my wedding cake until this day.

Very professional and know what they are doing. We loved our consultation that she gave us, it was very quick and she gave us lots of samples to choose from. I showed her a picture of exactly what we wanted and she did an amazing job recreating the picture that I showed her. All of our guests at our wedding said that our cake was the best wedding cake they had ever had at a wedding!

We had a some issues with another vendor when it cake to our cake and chose at the last minute to switch to Lakes Cakes. They were very helpful and able to come in and save the day. The cake was beautiful and very delicious. When talking about the design we showed them a picture of a cake design that we wanted. They were able to provide several different options to improve on the cake and also save us money. In the end I would highly recommend them to any and all of my friends or family.

Our cake was delicious! And was almost too beautiful to cut into! We had a 3-tier, square buttercream cake with ribbon and flowers as decorations. The guests particularly enjoyed the confetti cake and white cake with strawberry mousse filling. We used some sheet cake to keep costs down and overall, the price was very reasonable. Heidi was great to work with and I would highly recommend her to others!

I tried several high rated vendors of wedding cakes. Lakes Cakes was the most professional, prompt, and responsive. The cake was absolutely delicious and beautiful! I gave them a picture of the cake I wanted and they reproduced it exactly. I recommend them without any hesitation!

EPIC CAKE!!!!

My cake was so beautiful. I drew them a sketch of exactly what I wanted and they brought my vision to life! It was a colorful fall cake. Everybody said the cake was great and they loved my football cookie favors. Lakes, Thank you so much!!!!

Heidi gave us EXACTLY what we wanted and really took the time to listen to what my husband and I wanted. Her cakes are delicious and very affordable. She by far gives the best value for the most cake!

SO DELICIOUS! Out of all my vendors, they were the most prompt with getting a contract to me, and with getting paperwork to my venue. What really stood out to me was when I was late making my final payment (loss of a family member...wedding stuff got put on the back burner). There was a late charge, but then since I had them put it on my card over the phone, they waived the fee! Very VERY nice people to work for, extremely delicious cake for a great price, and the decorating was beautiful!

I really loved our cake we had for our wedding. I went very far as of I live in Detroit MI and Lakes Cakes is in Commerce MI, I had a cake tasting, I wanted ever part of my wedding to feel like we were in the movies like me and the bridesmaids would go David's Bridal and look for dresses and drink wine or look for decorations together, and shop for shoes. Well, it did not happen like that everyone was at work all the time we could never get together for pretty much anything. But one thing did happen the cake tasting, me and my family, mom, brother his wife and my soon to be husband. Went all the way to Commerce MI and a platter was set out for us nothing big a sample of assorted cake from carrot, to lemon to chocolate cake with strawberry swirl I was so surprised and very happy that something did come true. So to the staff at Lake’s Cake’s thank you soooo much xoxo's hat goes off to you guys for making this lovely and marvelous cake that I choose for my big day. Thanks for getting it there and on time and it was a beautiful big 4 tier, the top was marble middle was strawberry 3rd layer was carrot with nuts and the bottom was yellow batter, the icing was butter cream with navy blue trimming and it was the wedding cake of my dreams! I need to find out how to post the cake, so real soon I will post the cake.

I gave Heidi a picture I found online of a wedding cake and she replicated it beautifully. She was so flexible and responsive to my many questions and changes. I loved the cake and it tasted delicious. I had a different flavor for each tier. My favorites were the spice flavor and strawberry/chocolate.

Working with Lakes Cakes was one of the best experiences I had in the entire wedding planning process. Heidi was professional, knowledgeable, and talented. You could tell right away when meeting her that she was very attentive to detail and passionate about what she does. Cakes to her are very personal works of art. The value was amazing. I couldn't have gotten better value for my money anywhere else. My cake was gorgeous and delicious. It was moist. The frosting looked like fondant - but was not and tasted amazing! My guests all commented on how good the frosting was, as well as the cake. I would recommend Lakes Cakes to anyone I know. It was perfect.

Lakes Cakes was very good at making the wedding cake process easier. The tasting was fantastic and they worked with us to come up with the cake we wanted. The flavors were all very good. We had a groom's cake made of a challenger and it was a big hit. Everyone loved both of our cakes for how they looked and tasted. We would definitely recommend Lake Cakes! Could not of found a better cake.

We looked around at many different cake places. Lakes Cakes had the most resonable prices out of almost everyone. The drive was a bit far to meet with them but well worth the trip. She works out of her home, and was very generous and professional with giving us a cake tasting. The flavors she serves in her cakes were delicious! We had a big desert table at the wedding so not as much cake was eaten, but it was all taken home and enjoyed in the new few days. She was willing to do whatever flavors, style, colors, and design we wanted without nickle and diming us. She was a pleasure to work with and we were very satisfied

Being the procrastinator I am, I waited until last minute to find a cake. (I would not recommend it). Luckily, Lakes Cakes is located right down the street from Beacon Hill Golf Club (my wedding venue), and they were able to squeeze me in. I went for the cake tasting and the cake was delicious! They were so great at explaining different options for the cake and had creative ideas for the decoration on the cake. Their delivery was perfect and everyone loved the look/taste of our cake. Also, the cake was very reasonably priced for a wedding cake.

Lakes Cakes did a phenomenal job on our wedding cake! Their flavors and fillings are delicious and tasted so much richer than other cake vendors we sampled. When designing the cake, I sent Heidi a picture of what I wanted the cake to look like and photos of my dress. The cake looked absolutely gorgeous when I saw it on my wedding day and exceeded my expectations. We are still getting compliments on it more than a month after our wedding! Definitely recommend Lakes Cakes!

Lakes Cakes knocked it out of the park for our wedding. Everything looked gorgeous and tasted fantastic. Each layer of our tiered cake was a different flavor (the most popular most certainly being the mint chocolate chip). The design was elegant and completely matched our specifications. The best part? The cake was 100% vegan! The cake was definitely one of the most talked about / photographed portions of our evening (especially amongst people who were new to the concept of veganism). We really cannot recommend them strongly enough. Lakes Cakes is simply amazing!

We had a three tier cake for our wedding. The bottom tier was chocolate strawberry swirl. The middle was chocolate and the top was carrot. The frosting was butter cream. The cake looked beautiful. It was also delicious! The carrot cake was a huge hit and I wish I had made one of the bigger tiers carrot. I would definitely recommend Lakes Cakes!

Lakes cakes is amazing!!! from the momemnt we met them we knew they were going to be our cake place!!! When we had our first meeting she bought out a huge tray of many different flavors of cakes and fillings. My husband was in heaven and so was I. Any time I had any questions they answered them right away. We wanted many different flavors and they listened we choose, chocolate strawberry, cherry chip, Chocolate cake chocolate moose, white cake raspberry and bavarian cream fill, and fun fetti!! every single flavor turned out amazing!! Every single person at the wedding said that was the best cake they have ever had in their life! and that says a lot! I would high reccomend Lakes cakes to anyone for any occasion!! even our Grooms cakes (slot machine cake) turned out amazing!!!

Heidi is very professional and has it all together with her cake business. I sampled many of the cakes at bridal shows and was not willing to compromise on something less than what I could make myself. Then I found Heidi from reviews on line. Her options for flavors and design, the outstanding taste, and her artisitc capability and pricing (which was a pleasant surprise) are outstanding! She worked well with us and we could not have been happier with our delicious, beautiful cake and service.

Lakes Cakes was very easy and friendly to work with and provided a delicious cake for our wedding that fit our budget. We had many compliments from our guests about our cake's presentation as well as how tasty it was. We decided to have 7 different flavors (3 flavors on the tiered cake and then 4 in the sheet cakes), and Lakes Cakes did an awesome job of fulfilling our sweet requests. By far this cake was the most delicious cake I have ever had! The cake looked exactly the way I pictured ( It was leaning a little but not enough for me to complain about). Red Velvet was the best flavor and it was amazing. The prices are incredible and the cake was great.

When I found Lakes Cakes I was honestly surprised that they ran the business out of their home but that did not by any means effect they're professionalism. I loved the cake and all of of my guests were AMAZED with the wonderful flavor. They also did a immaculate job of decorating the cake, both with the icing as well as the flowers. Lakes Cakes did an absolutely wonderful job. The cake was beautiful and delicious. What I loved about them from the start was their responsiveness, they were always quick to return my calls or emails. They always made me feel like they truly cared about my wedding and that I wasn't just another "job". Her passion for her work shows in her commitment to her customers and the quality of the cakes! Heidi is very professional and her cakes are delicious. She personally set up my cake the day of my wedding and made sure it was perfect. After I had changed my mind a few times, and finally decided I wanted a cake inspired by my dress, Heidi without hesitation, began to design a gorgeous cake and it even had buttons going down the back!

She and her husband are very nice to work with, and are very honest. The cake, frosting and fillings were all wonderful and I really enjoyed the red velvet cake. I would hire Lakes Cakes again, and I am looking forward to our one year anniversary cake!

Lakes Cakes did an absolutly AMAZING job with our wedding cake!! It was a 4 tier square cake with buttercream frosting. They allowed us to have different flavors in each cake at no additional cost, we had yellow, red velvet and chocolate. We had SO many people compliment about the cake, the visual apperance as well as the taste. The first time I saw it I was stunned and actually stopped for a moment dead in my tracks because it was so much better than I imagined. I would not recommend anyone else! Lakes Cakes went above and beyond what I had expected them to do and left so many people impressed. They were also very nice people to work with and extrememly easy going. They didnt nickel and dime you with extra costs and were VERY reasonable, especially for the quality they put out. If I were to have my wedding again I wouldnt think twice about who would be making our wedding cake...it would definatly be Lakes Cakes!!

It seems that Lakes Cakes slices are larger than "standard" slices, yet they were the most affordable baker I checked into. You can add fresh fruit and mouse filling for a very small additional cost (which I highly recommend). They have a great selection of flavors and their frosting was not too sweet and tasted lighter than others I've had. I typically don't like cake very much, but I really enjoyed ours! Lakes Cakes was amazing! The value was *unbeatable* - we looked at five different cake bakers and nobody's prices beat Lakes Cakes. They even threw in a small six-inch gluten/dairy-free cake for FREE for our guests with food allergies.

As for the cake design, they did exactly what I asked. I designed a pattern and wanted them to duplicate it in frosting and they did a great job. The coral frosting I requested was definitely redder than I anticipated, but that is my only complaint about the whole experience. :)

Everyone loved the flavors of the cake (we got spice cake with whipped cream, white cake with vanilla buttercream, and chocolate cake with chocolate and peanut butter mousse). We ended up ordering about 50 servings more than we needed (a lot of our invited guests didn't come), with the result that we *still* have some leftover cake now, a whole month after our wedding. And guess what? It still tastes delicious a month later, after being frozen and rethawed. :) We're excited to get our FREE anniversary cake in 11 months!

The cake we requested came out better than we could have imagined. My husband and I live in Arizona and our wedding was in Michigan where both our families are. We relied on them to plan the wedding. I chose the design of the cake from a pictures on Lakes Cakes website. Ours was a three tier, off-centered, square cake. Each layer was a different flavor. My mom did the cake testing and she was right when she said the raspberry chocolate was the best cake she ever tasted. When I saw the cake, I couldn't believe how perfect it looked. I felt bad cutting into it. It was the most moist and flavorful wedding cake I've ever had. I highly recommend Lakes Cakes, you won't be disapointed.

Heidi and Gregory were extremely easy to work with, kind, helpful, flexible and are two incredibly talented people running a great business. We asked them to whip up two birthday cakes for us to bring to our rehearsal dinner with only two weeks notice and the cakes were gorgeous! These were precursors for our wedding cake, which was beautiful and delicious too. Not too often you get both in a wedding cake:)

Heidi was very accommodating in my planning process and very helpful in finding the right price point for the cake. She had many wonderful suggestions for flavor combinations and side work decor. I loved the fact that each layer of my cake could be a different flavor at no extra cost! We ordered a lot of extra cake, but my guests loved sampling the five different flavors we had! The cake itself looked beautiful and was just as I pictured it! Great vendor and very easy to work with!

Lakes Cakes did a great job with our wedding cake. We had a vegan cake & had so many compliments on how good it was. nobody could believe it was vegan. it looked just like i had imagined & heidi even made us a seperate little gluten free cake that was also delicious (we ate it a few days later because our dumb caterer forgot to put it out)

There is not enough room to tell you all the raves we received from our guests about our wonderful wedding cake. Heidi's Carrot cake was moist and delicious. It was covered with Butter cream frosting and had cream cheese filling between the layers. It was beautiful! And the price was so reasonable. I recommend her with the highest ratings and praise. My husband and I visited a few other bakeries in the area to find the right cake for the right price. We definitely didn't want to spend $800-1,000 on our wedding cake. Lakes Cakes was our last tasting stop, and they definitely didn't disappoint. We received the full spread. All of the cake samples were extremely moist and the fillings were very flavorful.

We were quite impressed with the plentiful options to choose from, our hostess, and the excellent price! We only paid for 125 people, but the cake was made to feed about 145 people. It was great! Plus the piping design on the cake turned out fantastic. It was exactly what we were looking for and we paid under $400! Half the price of all the other bakeries we visited.

We heard rave reviews about the cake after our wedding. Some people actually confessed to having multiple pieces just to try the different flavors! We highly recommend Lakes Cakes to all of our family, friends and anyone else who is in search of a great place to get their wedding cake for a bargain without foregoing quality!

Cake & cupcakes turned out perfect! It was exactly what we were looking for from the look to the taste. They were able to work with us despite us planning from San Diego, CA. Also, we had special dietary needs (Gluten Free & Dairy Free) and they were able to provide it no problem. I would highly recommend using them.

Our wedding cake was absolutely delicious! We were looking forward to having a slice of each flavor- we had 5 different kinds. The outside of the cake was decorated beautifully! We had white icing with fondant appliqué on the outside. Heidi and her husband really did a great job! They even created a side cake of a baseball glove holding a baseball with the Detroit "D". Thanks so much! We are looking forward to our anniversary cake! Only 11 months to go!

Lakes Cakes gave us a lot of great flavor options and we ended up choosing 5 different options for our cake which our guests loved because they could choose which flavor they wanted. The cake looked gorgeous! And they said as long as there were flowers set aside by the florist, they would put flowers on the cake the day of the wedding when setting up. Lakes Cakes was incredibly flexible with us; we had a change of guest count within a week of the wedding and they were very helpful with us changing things around with little time left. Thanks Lakes Cakes, everything was great!

dear heidi...the cakes for katie and brian's wedding were superb! we had individual cakes on each table which also served as the centerpieces, and they were beautiful! you were so flexible on working with us on 5 different flavors & designs that matched the vintage spring theme. it was a unique touch to the wedding & the guests enjoyed the interactive touch of cutting their own cake & trading flavors with other tables if they chose! they were delicious and there was plenty of cake for our guests! we appreciated your flexibilty and input with the bride/groom cake--the 2 tiered "bridal party cake" with 2 satellite cakes made a nice presentation for the cake cutting! the cakes were all delicious with so many flavors/fillings to choose from. it was a pleasure working with you, you were attentive to every detail! with 3 other daughters, i would love to work with you again!

We wanted a wedding cake that reflected our personality and Lakes Cakes was eager and willing to work with us. What impressed us most was their creativity. Heidi did an amazing job on our cake, which incorporated so many details that were unique to us as a couple. It tasted as good as it looked too! We received several compliments from our guests on how delicious it was. In addition, we planned our wedding from afar and Heidi was so responsive, making it that much easier to prepare for our big day. We ordered a small tiered cheesecake. It was only to serve 12-15 people, but something happened and she had to change the cake to the next size up. She didn't charge anything extra and we ended up with a ton of cake, which i was happy for because the cheesecakes from Lakes are delicious!

They met with us at our convenience and answered every question we had. They were very easy to deal with and inexpensive. The cake tasting was amazing -so much to choose from! We took design ideas from other cakes we had seen, drew a picture, and they made it happen - it was beautiful! Lakes Cakes provided my Wedding Cake for My January 2010 Wedding! They were amazing! I gave a photo of what i wanted and they made EXACTLY what i wanted! I had 5 Tiers with all different flavors and they were amazing!!!!!! The Prices were very reasonable as well. I was very pleased with my Wedding Cake, I had sooo many compliments as well!!!
