Five Stars Are Not Enough for Lago Custom Events!

From start to finish, our experience with Lago Custom Events was nothing short of phenomenal. Planning any event can be overwhelming, but the team at Lago made it not only easy but genuinely enjoyable. Their professionalism, creativity, and attention to detail exceeded all expectations—and the end result was an unforgettable event that our guests are still raving about.

A special shout-out to Jordan and Aubrey, who were truly the heartbeat of the entire experience. From the first consultation to the final moments of our event, they were responsive, thoughtful, and incredibly organized. They listened to every idea, answered every question (even the ones we didn’t know we had), and made expert recommendations that took our event to the next level. It’s clear they both care deeply about their work and about delivering an exceptional experience for their clients.

Whether it was timelines, layout logistics, or vendor coordination, they kept everything running smoothly and made sure we were confident and informed every step of the way. Staff was professional and attentive, from the coordinators to the servers. Food was incredible, and everyone’s meals were cooked perfectly. People couldn’t believe the food was catered and not cooked on site. Overall quality and service were amazing, would highly recommend.

Diana DeJesus was an absolute DREAM to work with. From the moment we met her we knew we would be in great hands. Diana went above and beyond to make sure that our wedding ran as smoothly as possible. She thought of EVERYTHING and I mean everything. Diana was not just a venue coordinator, she treated us like family and literally filled in all of the blanks. She understood our vision and went to great lengths to make it happen!! I couldn’t be more grateful for Diana and the rest of the staff at Lago events. Our guests just keep raving about how it was the best wedding they have ever been to. Diana focused on small details as well as big picture and it really makes a difference. From creating small signage for everything I forgot, to adding a bar by the elevators so no one would wait for a drink, to keeping things running smoothly, and her wonderful energy, she was wonderful. I would recommend her and Lago to ANYONE!!! Also, Chef Fabio had incredible food and helped us design the perfect menu to incorporate special foods we wanted to highlight. If you aren’t sure, this is your sign to hire Lago and HIRE DIANA!!!!! The BEST!

Having our wedding at Lago was the best wedding planning decision we made! Corina, one of the wedding planners, was an absolute pleasure to work with and made our lives soooo much easier during the wedding planning process; I definitely would not have stayed sane without her! All we had to do was show pictures and explain the kind of vibe we were going for and Corina and the Lago team brought it to life. They were also extremely accommodating day of when the weather tried to force us to use our back up plans, but thankfully, Corina let us make the final decision and trusted our judgement. We continue to have guests tell us our beautiful the venue was and how amazing the food was. It was the best day and we have Lago to thank for that!

When you read this review, I want you to take it seriously. Book your appointment and go tour. Don’t wait. This vendor has been amazing to work with. We worked with Mike at first, to be honest Lago was our second choice and we booked another venue. That venue dropped the ball and with less than 6 months until our wedding I called Mike and he got us on the books within 48 hours. Lago should have been our first and only option from day 1. We met with Mike and Diana, who was new at the time to go over our design ideas and to do our tasting. Everything was flawless from day 1.

Diana was who we ended up being assigned to. At first I was nervous because she was new, but let me sing her praises for a bit. I have never felt so confident leaving a review. Diana went above and beyond for us. I was a nervous bride, I thought I wasn’t prepared and I was freaking out. Diana would calm my nerves and reassure me that we were right on schedule. She responded to each of my calls and texts with professionalism and urgency. She never left me waiting for answers.

The day of, she handled everything. I mean everything. Between handling the decorations and day of things, she made sure to check in with my husband, myself, and our parents multiple times during our reception. I never even had a chance to finish a drink before it was replaced with a fresh one😂. She was ON TOP OF IT. The place was decorated beautifully and everything was just perfect. I couldn’t recommend Lago and Diana enough!

An added perk: pictures on the rooftop penthouse turned our phenomenal.

I cannot say enough good things about Diana and the Lago Events team. My best friend had her wedding reception at Lago in October 2021 and since I am an event professional in Arizona, I helped out during the planning process (along with being a bridesmaid.) From the moment we pulled up to Lago 2 days before the wedding to drop-off the bride's things, I could tell Diana was a pro. She was prepared with the timeline, floor plan, and all of the final little details that go into a wedding. Diana helped navigate a few stressful situations with patience and an overwhelming desire to accommodate various requests.

I knew going into the day of the wedding that every detail would be handled. This took so much pressure off the bride and myself. We were able to enjoy the day and not worry about set-up at the venue. The end result was an absolutely stunning cocktail hour and reception. (Book this place for the rooftop alone!!) The reception itself ran very smooth, from the grand entrances, to dinner service, to the last dance. The servers and bartenders were attentive and handled the large party with ease.

My only wish is that Diana lived out in Arizona so that I could add her to my team. You will be in great hands at Lago with her managing your event.

Absolutely wonderful. Thorough, attention to detail and interacted with guests professionally and efficiently. Trouble shooted and made for an absolutely wonderful evening that will not be easy to forget. Will be telling friends and family about wonderful experience.

As a first-time Mother of the Groom, I was excited but anxious about helping to plan the wedding. Throughout this process, Diana was kind, helpful, responsive and conscientious. She offered many great ideas along the way. She worked very hard behind the scenes to create a beautiful setting. The wedding was a huge success: everyone loved the food, decorations, and the venue. I would be happy to recommend Diana to other interested families.

Chosing Aloft and Lago Custom Events was the best decision we made! We knew it was it with in the first minute of meeting with the Coordinator. They were just as excited as we were to plan our perfect day! Mike is absolutely incredible!!! He was prompt with emails and phone calls. He is so sweet and professional!! He was very helpful with guiding us to make sure our vision come to life. They took care of everything! We had absolutely no stress the whole process and especially on our perfect day! Mike made my Pinterest board come to life! His team was wonderful to putting it all together!! The serving staff was absolutely amazing!! They were fun, kind, very helpful! Erin was in charge of us and she was on top of everything to make sure we have everything we needed and wanted! She was so sweet and professional! She helped us the next morning to pack up all our belongings. The food is out of this world!!! So delicious!! We would not change a thing and highly, highly recommend Lago Custom Events and The Aloft Downtown!! It was absolutely perfection and beautiful!!

Every thing was great the wedding g coordinator was on top of everything she asked me many times if everything was good or if I needed anything. Very well put together always answered any questions and made sure the day went smooth.

Overall, our wedding experience with Lago was a letdown. We chose them because of the location, the food, and the included coordinator. The 2 stars given are for the food itself (delicious, though getting answers on things like dessert options was frustrating) and the location (the penthouse is stunning).

Communication was a challenge start to finish. There was a good amount of staff turnover, which I understand happens. However, the leadership never seemed to do anything to help with the transition. Our first coordinator literally messaged us to schedule a meeting, then later that same day sent a message saying it was her last day. Every time there was a staffing change, it felt like starting over. Across the board, follow-up was poor. I'd be told I'd get an answer on something by a certain date, the date would come, I'd follow-up, they'd make an excuse, and eventually I might get an answer. For example, we needed to add a mic for our ceremony musicians (after realizing that despite what I'd previously been told, Lago didn't have enough mics for the ceremony & cocktail hour). When I confirmed the price for a mic included a speaker, the coord. said no, a speaker was double, she thought they had their own speaker and just needed a mic. In what case does someone have a mic and not a speaker? Another ex: we wanted to do a limoncello toast instead of champagne. I asked for the price several times. Eventually, the coord. said she didn't add the price because she thought we were bringing our own, even though we had talked about using the Lago limoncello previously. Another time, our coord. and the director showed up over 30 minutes late to a linens meeting that I had taken off work to get to. Neither ever acknowledged being late or apologized.

I tried to be patient, thinking details would come together. At our walkthrough, I thought they were. But then so many things weren't done as planned the wedding day, despite the walkthrough. Exs: We had a champagne wall. We talked multiple times about how it was for after the ceremony to kick off cocktail hour. Instead, Lago had a staff member handing out the champagne before the ceremony. Literally minutes before I was to walk down the aisle, our coord. asked if I had the sand for the our sand ceremony. I told her it was in the items I packed and had gone over with her the day before. She insisted it wasn't. I recognized that maybe it had fallen out and said we'd just have the ceremony without. Then, she sent a staff member down to look in our boxes and sure enough, it was where I said it should be. The salad served at our wedding was not the one we chose. We had printed menus, so it didn't match. No one ever mentioned the salad change to us. The coord. had the post-wedding brunch at the wrong time. It was supposed to be 11-1. She had signs saying 10-12 and had everything ready at 10. When I told her it was 11, she tried to argue with me and said she didn't know if we could have the space until 1. I sent her screenshots the time confirmation, and then she acted like it was no big deal and we could "extend" until 1, the original planned time. The food had been sitting out for an hour (except for some they forgot to put out until the very end). They didn't even have any regular milk or cream for coffee, just flavored, and it took over 30 minutes to get some when we asked.

We had hoped for a positive experience with many things being included, but instead it was a headache with no accountability.
