Ordered our wedding cake from here and loved it. I actually grew up down the block from this bakery, and would go there as a kid with my parents, so it felt particularly sentimental. The cake was delicious, the tasting process was seamless and enjoyable, the person we worked with was friendly and helpful, and nothing felt overdone or overpriced. They were especially helpful in working with our budget, and suggested a display cake and a sheet cake so that we'd have a beautiful cake but would be able to serve everyone.
The display cake was beautiful and exactly what we asked for—we actually found one on their instagram that we liked, but I wanted different colours. I went in and recoloured it in Photoshop, and they recreated it exactly as we'd hoped. They were also pretty good about working with allergens—the groom has a fatal allergy to tree nuts and peanuts, so we were very cautious about where we got the cake from. His allergy is bad enough that we didn't want to risk a cross contamination induced ER trip in the middle of our reception, so he did end up with a separate groom's cake (since Ladybird Bakery does have nuts in the kitchen, although they took precautions and prepared our cake separately) but we felt confident enough about the safety to have it at the wedding and to have our guests eating it. Ultimately the groom tried it the next day and was fine. I highly recommend this bakery and I'm so glad they're still around! -

As big fans of Ladybird Bakery's Brooklyn Blackout cake, we knew it was a no brainer that our wedding cake had to come from here. Melanie was very accommodating and easy to work with, and helped make recommendations on portions for our guests. We ended up going with a completely different cake thanks to the fun tasting session, where we got to try all the different cake, filling and frosting variations. We had SO many guests rave to us about our cake during and after our wedding – people went back for multiple servings, and many told us it was exceptionally delicious. We're so happy with the way it turned out! -

We chose Ladybird Bakery because it was super close to where we were having our wedding and got good reviews, and we are so glad we did! Melanie met with us over a month beforehand to do a cake tasting, and we got to try the fillings, frosting, and the cakes themselves. We were able to select a cake that was beautiful, delicious, and in our price range, and the whole process was incredibly easy and professional. On the day of our wedding, Melanie personally delivered the cake and applied fresh flowers to it at the venue—it looked absolutely stunning! Our guests raved about how lovely and tasty it was—lemon cake with raspberry jam and lemon custard filling, with a cream cheese and buttercream frosting and cascading cream flowers. It was so yummy and perfect for our outdoor August wedding. Thank you Melanie and Ladybird for adding some sweetness to our day! 😊 -

We can’t begin to thank Ladybird enough for preparing our wedding cakes. Our guests went out of their way to tell us how delicious they were and inquire where they came from. From the first moments of our tasting with Ladybird we knew that they were special and the right choice to satisfy our sweet teeth. The tasting process was unlike all of the other bakeries we considered. Other bakeries make you 4-6 cupcakes or small cakes in combinations you think you'll like. Ladybird puts together a platter of all the different components so you can mix and match as much as you want. We ended up getting 4 cakes (1 small one to cut and 3 large ones in varying flavors) because we couldn't decide...Every step of the process with Ladybird was so easy; we plan to get a cake for our anniversary every year! We dealt with a lot of vendors and are so grateful for their enthusiasm, professionalism, and final product. Thank you Ladybird!!! -

Ladybird Bakery did a wonderful job making the desserts for our wedding. We did not want a typical layer wedding cake. Instead, we went with the Brooklyn Blackout sheet cake, apple tarts, and lemon bars.
We did a tasting to decide what flavors to go with for the sheet cake. Everything was delicious and it was a hard time deciding what flavor to go with (although no decision would have been a bad one). My now-husband had heard of Ladybird Bakery from his colleague who once brought the Brooklyn Blackout cake to their office. That is what we ended up choosing because it was just mind-blowingly delicious.
Melanie was easy to work with for our tasting and wedding day. After placing our order, the process was seamless to coordinate payment, delivery, and drop off with instructions to the venue on if/when to refrigerate and cut.
As it turns out, I didn’t even eat dessert on the wedding night, but our guests raved about how wonderful it all tasted!

Leanne Sent on 03/01/2018Melanie @ Ladybird Bakery was a pleasure to work with. Her easygoing and laid back nature during the cake tasting process made creating our wedding cake combination a breeze. We ended up getting 2 different single-layer cakes since we couldn't decide and I'm so glad we did (we got the vanilla butter cake with cream cheese frosting & strawberry filling & brooklyn blackout cake). Typically at weddings, nobody really touches the cake but not in this case. Guests were raving about how delicious it was with most guests eating 2 pieces AND taking some home. It is 5 days later and we can't stop sneaking bites before we put it in the freezer. Would highly recommend Ladybird Bakery!

She was patient in explaining all the different ingredients and was flexible in our vision of the final product (we had a different cake for each of the 3 tiers) - and most of all, we had lots of fun with the tasting. Our guests commented on how beautiful and delicious the cake was, a first that we've seen for wedding cakes!

We looked everywhere for a bakery that would make the simple yet super delicious cake that we wanted, and Ladybird fit the bill perfectly :) We wanted a very simple buttercream cake with fresh flowers and Melanie at Ladybird worked with us to make that a reality. The cake we had at our tasting was sooo good and the cake was one of the most reasonably priced cakes we found anywhere! We also chose to get some extra goodies for our dessert table, mini cupcakes and bars and things, and everything was delivered to the venue in Manhattan safely and on time! Our florist provided the flowers and the cake looked exactly as I'd imagined, and tasted glorious - all of our guests thought so too! The strawberry blossom, almond princess and brooklyn blackout were our three flavors, and they were all SO GOOD!! Thank you Melanie and Ladybird, you guys are the best!! -

I have lived down the street from the bakery for over fifteen years and have always loved their cakes. Melanie was extremely accommodating about arranging a tasting of all their different cakes, frostings, and fillings and working with the two of us to figure out what would make the most sense for our taste and budget. She was super chill and open at every stage of the process and when I sent her photos of flowers for inspiration, created a gorgeous design that turned out almost too beautiful to eat...but was too delicious not to devour! She delivered the cake with no complications and our guests raved about how tasty it was. A wonderful experience all around.
