Great place to have a reception!

We were very satisfied with our whole experience at the Eberhard Center. The day itself went smoothly. The staff made it so that we could thoroughly enjoy ourselves and not have to worry about anything. They set up all our decorations, but still let us come check out the set up and it was just how I envisioned it to be. Leading up to the day, we were well informed of everything we would need to know. Kelly was very professional and personable and great to work with.

Superb Value

My fiance planned our wedding in 5 months and chose this venue because of awesome downtown location, unique space and value. The GVSU team was phenomenal to work with and our wedding reception was such a fun party that I will treasure!

Wonderful!

My Daughter looked at a few venues before deciding on the Eberhard Center. It was hands down the best decision we made! Our coordinator, Jennifer made the entire process smooth from beginning to end! I highly recommend L.V. Eberhard Center, you wont regret it!

Fantastic service! The event coordinator was extremely helpful and flexible. The entire staff was nice and professional. I received many compliments about how nice and beautiful our wedding reception was! Thank you, Eberhard staff for making our special day perfect!

Our wedding reception was perfect!

We were so impressed with Eberhard Center! They made everything so easy and were a pleasure to work with. The space was perfect for our reception and EVERYONE raved about how delicious the food was. I would highly recommend having your wedding reception or event here!

Beautiful Reception Venue with view of the city

I had a clear vision in mind for what I wanted our reception to look like and what we wanted for food and cocktail hour. Ali was very accommodating and gave great advice when making our final decisions. We did not worry about one thing on our wedding day! The staff was professional and wonderful to work with.

We could not be more happy with our experience with the Eberhard Center for our daughter's wedding reception. Kelly was amazing in that she was so attentive to our needs and was present all night, checking in with us several times, and assisting with things that came up. The food was amazing and it was a beautiful night! I wiuld definitely recommend this venue. We received a lot of compliments on the beautiful cocktail area overlooking the river and on the food!! Spectacular service and beautiful venue!

I planned my Grand Rapids wedding while living in Chicago. I actually booked this place without ever seeing it. You can't beat the location, downtown GR is great. It was close to three different hotels that guests stayed at and also close to the night life. Parking for my guests was easy. Both Kelly and Ali were great to work with. The venue itself is beautiful. I liked that the bridal party had a room to put our stuff, and to hang out before our announcement. The cocktail hour is in the second floor lobby and there was plenty of room for our 200+ guests. The actual room was spacious and the dance floor was a great size. The food was delicious. Ali was great at helping me with things in the final months. When I told her we wanted donuts as wedding favors, she found a vendor at a decent price. It was really great not having to worry about coordinating with the floral person, or any of the other vendors because she handled it. I highly highly recommend looking into this place!

This was a beautiful, perfect venue with the best price for downtown. Jennifer May was our coordinator and she was awesome. Everything for our evening turned out perfect. The staff was so very helpful - they helped us set up almost everything needed. We loved the location, free parking, and service. The food was really good too! It was perfect for someone on a budget, yet the wedding looked fabulous like we weren't on a budget.

The GVSU Alumni house is a great place for a wedding reception. The dining room has such a gorgeous view and a great patio. The food was fantastic! The chef went out of his way to make sure the food was something a little different than traditional wedding food. My husband is from Central America and we wanted something that would be a tribute to his roots since we were not getting married there. The chef made some great ceviche and our beef was awesome! The staff made sure we had everything we needed all night long. The were polite, kind, and courteous. My only complaint is that they took away my food every time I left the table--- but at least they were doing there job. I would highly recommend this venue. It's beautiful for a wedding and a reception!

We worked with Wendy and she was wonderful. She was responsive, helpful, paid attention to all the little details I was concerned with, and was always available. The location is great and our guests commented on the wonderful view. We not only had our reception there we also had our wedding. Wendy made every accommodation to make it work beautifully. She worked with our event designer, ICandy, and between the two of them the venue looked amazing. The Eberhard Center was also located next to the downtown hotels which made it easy to walk to for all of our out of town guests.

If you are a GVSU alumni/student, the Cook-DeWitt Center is a great option for your ceremony. You receive a discount, making the price very reasonable. The center is gorgeous with its giant wall of organ pipes and the side window facing the garden in the springtime.

Kellie, our contact for the center, went out of her way to make my experience perfect. We ended up needing the center longer than we anticipated, and Kellie went out of her way to make this possible for us. They made sure wedding signs were out directing people to parking, and allowed us to pull right up the center for all of our deliveries.

The GVSU student, our event coordinator, helped us with all audio. He showed up for rehearsal, and had a sign to hang out front. He ran through everything with me, and was very knowledgeable and professional. He showed up early on the day of, and did everything flawlessly.

They were a great venue to work with. As a side note, there are SO MANY great places on campus to take pictures. My photographer was so happy with the location.

We used the Alumni House for our reception venue. The Perry Dining Room is a gorgeous room with high ceilings and a fireplace. We had about 115 people which was a perfect size for the 150 seat capacity dining room. For our evening reception we didn't need to to much decorating at all, we just used candles and white lights for a romantic atmosphere. Not only did we receive many compliments on the venue, we also recieved rave reviews on the food we served at the reception. At the Alumni House you do have to use Classic Fare Catering (GVSU's caterer), which I found convenient. We had a great time working with Aimee for our catering needs. We were able to design a custom menu and all the food was delicious. Months later I still hear compliments from our guests on how good the food was. Aimee also got us cupcakes for dessert (I didn't want to do a cake) from Sweet Cakes and they were fantastic. I also think the prices for alcohol service were quite reasonable and I found it extremely convenient that the Alumni House arranged for the bartenders. I had an wonderful reception at the Alumni House at would recommend it to any one looking for a smaller venue.

The Eberhard was the practically PERFECT place for our wedding reception! Located in a beautiful part of GR and enough space for both introverts and extroverts to enjoy! We LOVED Kelly. Without her I don't know how the reception could have been able to work. She was TREMENDOUS and instrumental to the joy everyone experienced that night

Definitely Recommend!

It was a dream to work with the L. V Eberhard Center to plan our wedding! They were willing to help us in any way possible to create our beautiful wedding reception space. The venue was open the day before so we could set up with plenty of time and the space turned out just gorgeous! Especially due to the weather and the view of the river! Would recommend to anyone!

Eberhard Center is a fantastic place to hold a wedding. It is right on the river in downtown Grand Rapids and the cocktail lounge area has large windows overlooking the river and the lit up bridges at night. There are several bars, restaurants and hotels within walking distance which makes it easier on guests. Erik, our wedding coordinator was SUPER helpful throughout the whole process. The prices are reasonable as well, and Grand Valley students and alumni get a discount on wedding packages. I would recommend hiring a good decorator, as the main room can look rather plain otherwise - but from my personal experience, I couldn't believe it when I walked in the doors. The place was transformed and and the night turned out perfectly!

We did a winter wedding at GVSU. We did the ceremony in the same room as the reception, right in front of the fireplace. Absolutely gorgeous. We were sold when we saw the fireplace. They set the room up for the ceremony, then afterwards (we had to get everyone out for a bit) they rearranged for the reception. I don't know how often they do that, but it worked out really well for us. The were even willing to set up the centerpieces and put out our favor boxes. Everyone is very professional. They have almost everything you need, so working with GVSU is pretty easy. There weren't many details to worry about.

When we started looking we were working with one woman, about 2 months from the wedding there was a personnel change. No trouble at all, they both had it down and were on top of the event. The alumni house is beautiful, not a boring banquet room. Lots of photo opportunities. And one of the best deals out there, especially on the food. The alcohol seemed very reasonable. You do have to use their catering, but believe me that is a benefit. The food was amazing! It really was good - the chicken alfredo was honestly some of the best alfredo I have eaten. We worked with Amy on the catering, and she is truly fantastic. She's got this wedding stuff down and is happy to do whatever you ask. It is perfect for a smaller wedding (we had ~100) where you want to relax and have fun.

We had a great experience using the Alumni House. The staff was extremely helpful and had great ideas. I was not able to set up the morning of the wedding, so I left everything in the hands of the Alumni House staff - and everything exceeded my expectations. The room was gorgeous, the food was delicious, and everything was ready on time.

The Eberhard Center is an amazingly great choice for a wedding reception. We were allowed to come set-up the night before our wedding and anytime the day of the wedding. As part of their wedding package, they provide wedding guests with complimentary punch, fruits & veggies, and crackers & cheese. You also get an ice sculpture of your choice (free of charge) as part of the package. Best part of all this, is the price. While you do have to use their caterer, GVSU alumni get a $5 discount per person, and the rental fee is only $900 (Saturday weddings, not sure about Fridays).

The venue is great. We loved our experience working with the Eberhard Center. We did the wedding package it was nice to have the extra touches that were included so I didn't have to decorate as much. Our trotter steak and mediteranean chicken were delicious, along with the sides! I don't have anything negative to say!

Our reception at the Alumni House was absolutely fantastic. The only reason I don't give the Alumni House 5/5 is because we had a bit of a problem with our original contact promising us something she couldn't deliver on. The woman who coordinated things in the end was absolutely fantastic. I can't say enough nice things about her or the rest of the people who staffed the actual event. If I did things over again I'd go back in a heartbeat.

The staff at the Alumni House was absolutely AMAZING anything we needed they were there to help! Whether it was the planning stages, the rehersal, or the wedding itself the staff was wonderfully helpful getting us anything we needed. In addition the building is beautiful. We used the venue both for our wedding and reception because we had a lot of people coming from out of town that had to travel. Everyone told us how beautiful the ceremony was and I would love to see a summer wedding down outside there. Also the price was great and there was a ton of places for great pictures.

I loved having my reception at the Eberhard Center in September of 2006. The view is spectacular, and that is something that all the guests were impressed with. They have a lobby type area where you can have a cocktail hour with hors d'ourves and drinks. You can also have use to the grand piano in the area. We made use of it and got many compliments of an elegant reception. We also were very impressed with how the food tasting was held. Also, there is a $5 discount per person on packages for GVSU students and alumni. They were very accomodating, letting us decorate the day before, and the morning of the wedding. The price may seem high at first, but what you get for the money is totally worth it. The price I show includes what I paid for liquor (we had an open bar), the food (which included the cocktail hour), and the site rental fees.

GVSU Venue was perfect for us and the staff were good to work with. There were a few minor things, like way under estimating our bar price and slow to respond to emails leading up to the day, but nothing that ruined our actual wedding day.

Spicer wedding

I loved having my wedding here! All the guests loved the view and it's convenience to hotels and all the local spots. We were complimented on food and service and I was not worried once as the bride. It looked beautiful and would recommend it again.

Overall, we really enjoyed this venue - the view from the cocktail lobby overlooking downtown, the Blue Bridge, and the Grand River is spectacular! Our vendors commented on how accommodating and helpful all the staff were. The coordinator and staff helped us with set up/take down of decorations with no extra cost and all directions were followed to a "T." Our coordinator, although sometimes hard to get a hold of in the months leading up to the wedding, was responsive the month before and made sure everything was in order the week of. The appetizers were a big hit, but the dinner wasn't as good as what we had at the tasting in the fall. There was also some confusion over menu changes that had occurred between when we set our menu and when we gave final numbers (they were updating their menu at the time). All things considered, planning was a little bumpy at times, but came together wonderfully the week before with very little stress on my part. We have had several people comment that our wedding reception was the best one they had been to and Eberhard certainly had a part in that.

Everyone had a great time at our reception. The view was awesome. The food was great. Nothing went terribly wrong (that I know of). Most of the time they were very flexible. I could tell that they wanted my day to be perfect. There weren't many hidden fees or anything. Our biggest problem was getting answers on our questions. They didn't always email you or call you back right away and sometimes we would have to call/email a couple times to get an answer. We felt sometimes like we were getting different answers from different people which got to be a little frustrating, but overall everything went smoothly. I couldn't have asked for a better night.

Only have your wedding reception here if you are okay with bouncers behind your shoulder the whole time staring at everyone. They kicked one of our 19 year old family members out of the reception for having a sip of wine. They were extremely rude.
