Amazing Kauai DJ Service

We recently got married on Kauai in September and used Kustom Sounds Kauai for our wedding reception. The DJ really made our party so much fun and a night we will never forget! We gave a general idea of songs and music we like and the DJ made an amazing playlist, even better than we could've imagined! He also made the evening flow very smoothly with announcements and even helped us pick out our cake cutting song on the spot! From the get-go Mike at KSK was super responsive and flexible! Once we arrived on Kauai we made the last minute decision to add sound to our ceremony since it was very windy and hard to hear. Literally 2 days before our ceremony we made this change and Mike was able to accommodate us and helped the day go off without a hitch! We couldn't recommend KSK more and if we ever have a celebration in Kauai again, there is no one else we would even think about using!

Exceeded expectations

I was very nervous when booking Kustom Sounds Kauai because we are a multiracial couple so we had to make sure that we were inclusive to all of our guests. We created a playlist as a reference for, Benjamin, our DJ and he did a great job at keeping the perfect balance. He had everyone on the dance floor. He definitely created a memorable experience for us and our guests. I would 100% recommend Kustom Sounds for your special event.

Went Above and Beyond!

Not only did Kustom Sounds do an amazing job DJing our wedding, but they really went above and beyond to provide top notch customer service. During the planning process, we were having a hard time finding a tent vendor, as the main companies on the island were booked up for our wedding date. Mike had great referrals for us, and really assisted us in weighing our options. Overall, they were extremely helpful, responsive, and detail-oriented. We are very grateful to Mike and the team at Kustom Sounds Kauai!

Beyond Amazing

I recently got married and had the pleasure of working with Kustom Sounds Kaua’i and the amazing DJ/Owner Mike Dandurand who made our special day even more memorable. From the moment we spoke over the phone, we knew we were in good hands. DJ Mike was professional, friendly, and attentive to our needs and preferences.

On the day of the wedding, Mike arrived early to set up and ensure that everything was in order. Throughout the reception, he kept the energy high and the dance floor packed. The music selection was beyond perfect, and he was able to read the crowd and play songs that kept everyone dancing and having a great time.

What impressed us the most was the Mike’s ability to seamlessly transition between songs and keep the party going without any interruptions. He was also great at taking requests and making sure that everyone's favorite songs were played, all the while ensuring songs my husband and I did not want played weren’t.

Overall, we couldn't have asked for a better DJ for our wedding. The professionalism, talent, and attention to detail made our special day even more memorable. We would highly recommend t Kustom Sounds Kaua’i to anyone looking for an amazing DJ for their wedding or any other event.

Mike was Perfection

My husband and I are so grateful we hired Mike to be our DJ for our wedding in Kauai. We were married at my parents’ house which required some creativity with respect to spacing and set up, but Mike was so flexible and helpful. Mike was also super responsive throughout the planning process. But most importantly, he did an AMAZING job keeping the energy up all night long. Most people never left the dance floor. Awesome dance party!

KSK was amazing and so accommodating to our requests on songs we wanted to hear for our special day. He mixed in our favorites and kept the crowd dancing all night. We had such a blast dancing with you - the night was so magical. Thank you!!

Kustom Sounds Kauai: SUPERB all around!

I'll start off with saying that Mike Dandurand was the DJ at my 6th grade graduation. Twenty-two years later, Mike was DJing my wedding evening and I wouldn't have had it any other way. Easy to work with, responds quickly to emails, and on the night of everything went as smooth as possible. I provided quite the extensive list of songs for the reception and I think he played just about as many that could fit into the night. All my guests raved about the music as well and said it was the best dance party they've ever been to.
Mike was in his groove and you can tell music is his passion. Please be kind to Kustom Sounds Kauai by ensuring you send the ceremony and reception guide form one month in advance. It helps ease their process. Support a small local business!

The best of the best!

Kustom Sounds Kauai is the absolute best! DJ Mike was so professional and played music that I loved. We danced all night. He also played some requests for us which we really appreciated and made our night so special. Everything we asked DJ Mike to do he made sure to accommodate our requests. Great DJ!!

Benjamin DJed for our wedding and he did a great job. He read the crowd well and got people up and dancing. He played the songs that we had requested and was pleasant to talk to. Leading up to the wedding, all of our communication was through the owner, Mike. Mike was very kind, helpful, and quick to respond. :)

We had the absolute best DJ in Mike! We told him we wanted music that got people out of their chairs and onto the dance floor and he did not fail. The vendor you NEED

Mike was so much more than a DJ (though he is certainly an EXCELLENT DJ)! He was able to set us up with sound systems, lighting, and ceremony equipment. He was easy to get ahold of, a breeze to work with, thorough, put in more work than I could have ever expected (even visiting our wedding site multiple times to make sure he had the equipment we needed), and an excellent price! He also didn't bat an eye as we changed song after song and could not make a decision on certain songs. When it came to the day of our event, he was way on time and worked seamlessly with our coordinators. He set the vibe for the various parts of our reception perfectly and chose great songs! He was also very easy to chat with during the ceremony and was open to taking requests from our guests. At the end of the night, he even stayed long to honor our request that we have a dance just the 2 of us. You cannot go wrong!!!

Great DJ, very adaptable!

Mike DJ'd our wedding in Kauai at the Grand Hyatt, and was an absolute pleasure to work with. He was incredibly patient with us while we put together our playlist of songs we wanted - and was cool with us putting together a massive list of songs. He was also able to throw in fantastic music on the fly when our list somehow didn't have enough for the event!

On top of that, there were various changes we had to make on the fly, all which Mike handled smoothly. I am so glad we chose him for our wedding, and highly recommend him to anyone else!

Unforgettable Kauai Wedding

We hired Mike for our Kauai wedding and it was amazing. When we first called he was very friendly and professional, and asked us some basic info to get the logistics out of the way and understand what kind of vibe we were going for. We really enjoyed that he didnt work off of fixed playlists, but instead worked with our suggestions and tailored that to how the crowd was feeling. At the end of the night the crowd was still going strong after three hours! We had a blast and we know if you book Mike you will too!

Best dj on island!

Hands down the best DJ ever! I have been to many weddings as Mike as the DJ and told myself once I get married, he will be the one to DJ my wedding! He played the best hits and kept the party going! Mike and his team are great to work with and so happy that they were available! I definitely recommend Mike and his team for anyone looking for a DJ!

Everything we wanted in a DJ

I'm so glad we went with Kustom Sounds Kauai! We were able to fine tune our playlist and our MC kept everyone on schedule. The sound quality was excellent and I really enjoyed the light effects on our dance floor.

Kustom Sounds Kauai: Highly Recommended!

Can't say enough about Mike & the Kustom Sounds team! He was the DJ for my sister's wedding a few years back and did a fantastic job, so only fitting that we booked him again for my wedding scheduled for October of 2020. Unfortunately, we ran into travel and gathering restrictions on the island due to COVID and we're on hold with our event. But I just wanted to pass along this positive review because the staff is very professional, responsive to all our questions and was really accommodating to our date changes.

I highly recommend them for any and all of your event needs on the island of Kauai. This is a difficult time for all our neighbors on the island, so please keep them in mind for anything you have coming up. I promise you'll have a great experience working with Mike and the Kustom team just like we did. Huge thank you Mike!

great tunes, flexible, prepared!

I enjoyed working with Kustom Sounds! They played some groovy tunes for us, even played some fusion Bhangra hits so that everyone could dance along! Our recommendations were kept in mind and the dance party was on fire the whole entire night. I would definitely recommend them to anyone planning a wedding in the Hawaii area. I would make sure to list out songs you don't want to have played, I did not do this and the last song at my wedding was one I did not enjoy. Other than that, the night was fabulous!

We used Mike as our DJ for our wedding at the St. Regis last month. He did a great job! He had the dance floor packed until the very end of the wedding at midnight. We met with Mike as we were planning our wedding reception and could tell instantly that we had to have him. He has a perfect personality to DJ any event you may have. We gave him some specific songs that we had to have as well as genres that we liked. He played such a great mix and all of our guests we going up to him and complementing him all night. Kustom Sounds Kauai was the perfect choice at the DJ for my wedding. They were recommended by a friend who had Mike, the owner, DJ her wedding, and when I requested Mike, I got him! When I came to Kauai in April for wedding planning, Mike came to my venue to meet with me and my wedding coordinator and we went over the timeline for the wedding and he was incredibly helpful with song suggestions and how to plan the night. KSK also provided the sound for our ceremony, which was very helpful, and made that process very easy. At the wedding, Mike kept the night flowing just right and chose great music for our dinner hour. He stuck to my playlist, and added in songs that fit with my preferred genres. Mike's friendly personality helped to make my wedding a success!

After hours of research to find the best wedding DJ/MC on Kauai, I was lucky enough to come across Kustom Sounds Kauai. Hiring their team was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding day! Having people on the dance floor was a top priority for me and Kustom Sounds Kauai made that happen with ease.

I had the unique experience of being a wedding planner professionally for several years and THEN being a bride. I knew I needed to find someone that was professional, responsive, easy to talk to and reasonably priced. From our very first email correspondence I knew KSK was a strong contender. Once we had a chance to meet Mike in person we were absolutely sold! It seemed like every scattered word coming out of my bride brain (it's a real thing..) was seamlessly coming together through his notes.

In the weeks leading up to the wedding they made us feel very at ease. They have detailed forms to collect the information and bada bing bada BOOM! They arrived on the wedding day with a contagious smile and great energy. We had requested several different genres to capture our love of music and they nailed it. I wish dancing could have gone on all night!

Everyone always asks... what was your favorite part of the wedding and for us it would be our private date on a balcony overlooking the guests at reception. It gave us a chance to take it all in while listening to great music. One song came on and it hit a real sweet spot for us both, we both became overwhelmed with emotion from the memories that came flooding through. We never requested the song but it seemed like KSK knew our preferences so well that they read our minds. It was absolutely perfect and we will never forget it.

We had Mike, the owner DJ our wedding and he was FANTASTIC! So easy to work with this company and played a good mix of music that everyone enjoyed. I would definitely recommend booking these guys for your wedding!

Kustom Sounds and specifically Mike the owner, was a dream to work with for our wedding day. We did a buyout of Plantation gardens and we also hired a live duo for our ceremony and cocktail hour that was flying over from Maui. We ended up renting sound equipment from Mike for the duo so it took a lot more coordination than a typical event for it to go off smoothly. Mike was always easy to get a hold of and he met with us two separate times at the venue the week before the wedding to go over all the details and the night went flawlessly. The sound system worked great for the duo and the DJ (Danny) was set up inside and killed it! He had everyone up and dancing the entire night, it was a blast. Mike was one of my favorite wedding vendors I worked with, you can tell he still loves his work and loves weddings. He went out of his way to make sure I was happy with everything. Thank you Mike!

Holly was very responsive and easy to work with when planning this event. Mike the owner was also great and flexible. We had Francis for our DJ and the night went perfectly. We made him a schedule and it worked out great, he played all the music we wanted to hear and he didn't play anything from our "do not play list"

DJ Mike and Kustom Sounds Kauai were an absolute pleasure to work with. We are East Coasters that had a destination wedding in Kauai Grand Hyatt which meant placing a lot of trust in our coordinator and vendors. Our coordinator recommended Kustom Sounds Kauai and we are so glad that she did.

Mike was great to deal with and very patient given the lateness of our returning their Wedding form. A great DJ/Emcee can really set the the tone of a reception and really taking it up a couple knotches, DJ Mike definitely did this for us. He took our song and genre suggestions and provided the perfect mix to keep our age/background diverse crowd on the dance floor. We were all surprised that the vast majority of our families and friends hit the floor so early and with so much enthusiasm. My Dad was grinning ear to ear listening to a lot of his favorite hits through the night and my mother in-law only stopped to hydrate and eat wedding cake :).

As an Emcee, the flow of the wedding was excellent. At no point did we feel lost or rushed and in a couple scenarios were given options midstream without pressure that fit perfectly.

I highly recommend DJ Mike and Kustom Sounds Kauai, they really were a large part of why our reception was so great.

DJ Mike was off-the-charts amazing! Matt and I and all of our guests had one of the greatest nights ever at our wedding reception. Kustom Sounds Kauai was chosen by our wedding coordinator and I am so glad they were. KSK emailed me a very detailed questionnaire (complete with a Do Not Play section) to fill out a month before to learn our preferences and styles. Matt and I also sent a separate list of "must play" and "would like to hear" songs. Mike managed to work them all in seamlessly over the course of the night. Everyone's feet hurt from dancing so much! The music truly pulled everything together at the reception and made for an amazing night. "Best party ever" was not an uncommon phrase to hear from our guests in the days after the wedding!

KSK did a fantastic job DJ'ing for our wedding, and foolowed our instructions precisely. They helped the flow along by guiding our guests from one piece of the event to the other, and were in constant contact with us in the months leading up to the event. Great work!

Words cannot describe how grateful we are to Kustom Sounds Kauai and especially Mike our DJ for their services on our most precious day. From our initial meeting with Mike we knew that we had made the perfect choice!! In the hours preceding our wedding reception and throughout our reception we had a few unplanned "hiccups" in the program. Mike powered through the event without missing a beat. We cannot thank him enough for really going above and beyond. Kustom Sounds were very found to be very flexible in assuring that our reception turned out to be a very memorable one. I found Mike through my wedding coordinator - and he handled everything very well - I had a mixed party and had to have foreign music - so he kept the party going and everything was awesome!!

Mike at Kauai Kustom Sounds did a great job at keeping the reception flowing. Played great music and made sure what we wanted ahead of time. He even OK'd the "Chicken Dance" request from my niece before playing it!

DJ Jeff was great! He set up the mic and speaker for our ceremony then played music during our cocktail hour, dinner, then dancing. Our only wish was that he played for longer (but he couldn't because the restaurant is required to turn off all amplified sound at 10pm).

From planning to execution, Mike with KSK did an amazing job as our wedding DJ! From the first email I sent, Mike responded in a timely manner with the information I requested and a questionnaire to learn more about our wants and needs. Mike even called me to check in a few times during the planning process and I could tell from our phone calls that he was a great choice - so friendly and professional. Mike also sourced the best live musicians (guitar/ukulele duo & a steel drummer) for our ceremony and cocktail hour music - and they were amazing!! During our reception, Mike was a great MC - moving the night's events along nicely. He was super professional and not your typical cheesy Wedding DJ/MC that I was so afraid of. Mike played all of our suggested music genres & song choices and kept the party going all night long. Our wedding party danced all night and we had SUCH a fun time thanks to Mike with KSK!

We chose Kustom Sounds Kaua'i as our dj/ music provider at our wedding and we are happy we did. there were a few snags at our wedding reception but music was not one of them. DJ Mike played some really cool music during the cocktail hour, a lot of what we asked for and a lot of music that we wanted but FORGOT to ask for!! Everything with the music, lights, sound was flawless. We also rented a huge movie screen and LCD projector that they made look amazing and it was a highlight to have images of my childhood and my wife's childhood on the screen. Highly recommend this company.

Kept on the dance floor!

We had such a great time with Kustom Sounds at our wedding on Sept. 21 2022! All of our guests had a blast and stayed on the dance floor all night! My husband and I gave a broad genre of music from 70s-00s, and they delivered! Would definitely recommend them and use them again! Thank you guys!!!

Good MC didn’t love music

Let me preface this with the fact that we are very particular about music as a couple. We had very specific songs chosen and some were either forgotten of not used. We also made specific song lists we wanted to play through the night and some just didn’t happen. He played some very old music when I specified like funk and soul early on for the older group but he played songs you might hear at a diner.

Overall his MC ability was good. I don’t think he’s a bad dj I think most people would be happy with him. I just wish that if he had any questions about my music choices he would have asked me ahead of time after lists were sent in.

Kustom Sounds Kauai came recommended to us by our wedding venue, the St. Regis Princeville, as their preferred DJ partner. Upon booking them, they sent us a questionnaire to fill out that was very detailed. We appreciated them requesting all of these details to be documented prior to the wedding day so we all had a seamless experience.

Communication was great leading up to the wedding. However, I was a bit disappointed when we arrived from our private photo session to the reception, and were about to be announced Mr. and Mrs. when the DJ approached us. He told us that the questionnaire we had filled out did not come through with the details, so he needed all the answers right then and there. With a million details on your mind, and trying to keep to a time schedule for your wedding, it's less than ideal to have to remember all of the information he needed right in that moment. He admitted that they should have called or emailed prior to that day when they noticed it didn't come through, so we didn't have to do that right then and there. I agree!

However, that was the only negative part of my experience with Mike, the DJ, and Kustom Sounds. The rest of the reception was unbelievable. He played all of the slow dance requests we had provided him from our guests RSVP cards during dinner, and then got the party going with dance music after dinner. The dance floor was full, and everyone had a blast! He even brought his own lighting, total surprise for us, that made it really fun, like a club feel during the after dinner party.

He communicated with my husband and I throughout the reception on timing of everything to make sure we were ready for the best man and maid of honor to give toasts, cut the cake, etc. That was very much appreciated. He even gave us a CD of a sampling of the music he played, so we can listen to it with fond memories. That was a great, very sweet surprise.

Decent DJ but several mistakes and lack of responsiveness

We had Kustom Sounds for our wedding, and although the DJ did a good job with the music mix for dancing, there were a number of errors in which songs to play and when for some of the lead in and our first dance. Everyone makes mistakes, but this was compounded by the fact that she was extremely difficult to get a hold of for several weeks ahead of the wedding, then said she was too busy to meet with us or talk over the phone in the days right before the wedding to make sure we were on the same page about everything. Did not make us feel secure and then resulted in mistakes being made. Also no follow up from the owner when we provided the feedback after the event.

Poor experience, unprofessional, no accountability

We booked Mike to provide sound equipment for our wedding ceremony. Not only did his tech arrive extremely late with the wrong equipment (an oversized microphone instead of one for a lapel), but he interrupted our drone footage and was also ill prepared to set up our musician. We splurged on videography / photography for the event, so it was a huge disappointment that our officiant will now be permanently captured standing awkwardly in between us holding a giant microphone! It was messy and unprofessional, and we were particularly off put in the aftermath when we were essentially ghosted by Mike. A refund wouldn’t fix this (and wasn’t offered), but I would have at least expected Mike to take some form of accountability, apologize, tell us he felt badly about the error, really any kind of response or outreach. We were hurt by the radio silence. At any rate, weddings are so personal and meaningful that I felt responsible for sharing my experience because we were crushed and I would hate for this to happen to anyone else on their big day. We were surprised by how things played out because Mike had come strongly recommended to us, and seemed both kind and helpful in our initial conversations.
