The Staff
Everyone envisions their “perfect” wedding differently. For me, staying on schedule was the most important factor. From the moment my bridal party and I walked through the doors at the Cottage to the moment my new husband and I left for the night, Kurtz’s made sure everything ran seamlessly.
Leading up to the wedding, Ashley was with me every step of the way. She promptly answered my questions, set up calls when needed, and took the time to walk through every detail. She understood my concerns about logistics and even helped me plan for “what-if” scenarios so I could feel prepared for anything. I truly appreciated her attention to detail and willingness to pivot if necessary.
To help bring my vision to life, I created documents outlining exactly how I wanted the décor. On the wedding day, Kurtz’s nailed it—down to the smallest detail. Their team executed everything exactly as I had envisioned.
On the big day, I had a very detailed schedule to help keep things on track. From the moment we arrived at the Cottage, Deb took charge. She made sure everyone was where they needed to be, exactly when they needed to be there. Even when a few snags popped up, she adjusted effortlessly to keep us on schedule.
I’m still amazed by how smoothly everything went. If there were any hiccups, I never knew about them—Kurtz’s handled it all behind the scenes. For that, I am incredibly grateful. The care, professionalism, and dedication of the entire Kurtz’s team made all the difference.
The Venue
We initially chose Kurtz’s because the venue offered everything we wanted: a waterfront location, an outdoor ceremony space, and a solid Plan B for inclement weather. Kurtz’s didn’t just have a backup plan—they had Plans C, D, and E, making the venue incredibly versatile. No two weddings here would ever be alike.
What truly sold us, though, were the endless photo opportunities. Capturing memories through photography was extremely important to me, and the property offered countless beautiful backdrops. At the Cottage—where we did our first look and bridal party photos—there were so many stunning spots: fountains, fireplaces, staircases, swings, and more. The grounds are impeccably maintained and clearly designed with photography in mind.
There’s so much more I could say about Kurtz’s Beach and the wonderful experience we had, but I encourage couples to see it for themselves. They made our wedding a day I will never forget.Kurtz's Beach's reply:

What a fabulous venue! Despite a windy day that kept us inside, we still had beautiful views and pictures. The food was delicious; the venue was gorgeous; and the staff were amazing. We had 143 guests, but it felt small and intimate. We continue to get great feedback from all of our guests. Highly recommend!Kurtz's Beach's reply:

We couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful venue or a better experience than we had at Kurtz’s Beach for our wedding! The waterfront views are stunning, and the entire venue has such a relaxed yet elegant atmosphere — it was exactly what we envisioned for our big day. Fortunately, we had an outdoor ceremony in early May with no rain at the venue for the entire evening, and we also enjoyed a lightening and thunder show far across the bay.
Mrs. Deb, our coordinator, was truly amazing to work with. She was organized, patient, and made sure every detail — big and small — was taken care of. From the decor arrangements to special guest accommodations, they didn’t overlook a thing. We felt completely at ease knowing we were in such good hands. Ashley and John answered our many question for months and guests enjoyed their dinners. They were flexible with our choices of axe throwing trailer and a bounce house as outdoor guest entertainment. Bonus feature that there are frequent tasting opportunities leading up to our reception.
Our guests are still talking about how gorgeous the venue was that evening. We’re so grateful to Kurtz’s Beach and their wonderful staff for helping make our wedding day unforgettable. Highly recommend!Kurtz's Beach's reply:

Our wedding day at Kurtz’s Beach was absolutely magical from start to finish. We were drawn to the venue because of the scenic waterfront views, convenient get ready cottages, and communicative and friendly staff.
We had our ceremony on the water front at the gazebo which was absolutely stunning. Kurtz's runs a full wedding day start to finish seamlessly. This allowed my husband and I to simply enjoy the day without having to worry about a thing.
What truly sets Kurtz’s Beach apart was the exceptional service. The team guided us through every planning detail with warmth and professionalism—from menu tastings, to coordinating with all our vendors.
On our wedding, Deb, our day-of coordinator, was a amazing!! She managed timelines, ensuring everything flowed beautifully, and was so positive, caring, and attentive which kept us calm and having fun all day.
Our guests praised the picturesque grounds, delicious food, and friendly staff. We couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful, professional, and family‑oriented venue. Working with Kurtz’s Beach for our wedding venue was a dream! It truly made the whole “planning a wedding” thing a breeze. They host monthly tastings so you can get an idea of the food they will serve at the wedding, which was a big win for us and being able to bring our parents to have their input as well. Included in their package are a variety of centerpieces, table numbers, linens (with an option to upgrade to different textures, styles, and patterns), easels to hold signs, cake stands, cake cutting sets, champagne glasses for the couple This helped us narrow down our vision rather quickly and alleviated a lot of stress of coordinating these on our own.
The venue was also beautifully maintained and the perfect backdrop for our big day! We opted for the gazebo ceremony on the grass and the photos turned out so amazing with the water directly behind us. The staff were all so helpful and knowledgeable and were able to answer any questions we had or find someone quickly who could. Many of our guests are still raving to us how beautiful the ceremony site and bay room were for the wedding. Verna, our coordinator, was also amazing! Very personable, reliable, and thoughtful. She made sure we were fed and had a drink in our hand most of the night as well as ensuring the whole event ran smoothly. We are very pleased to have been married at this gorgeous venue.
I highly recommend booking vendors from their preferred vendor list as well, since they’ve been there a time or two, they know the venue well and have worked with staff and other vendors, which also helps alleviate some stress. I was all about the low-stress planning!Kurtz's Beach's reply:

Highly recommend!

Our Daughter’s Wedding
We had a wonderful experience having Kurtz’s host our daughter and son-in-law’s wedding. John, Ashley and their staff took such great care in ensuring that everyone had a great time. Best wedding venue around

Firstly, let's talk about the weather—it was mid-November, and against all odds, we were blessed with a beautiful 70-degree day. It felt like a sign that Kurtz's Beach was the perfect choice for our special day. The picturesque waterfront added an extra layer of charm to the entire celebration.
The team at Kurtz's Beach, led by the amazing Ashley and John, exceeded all our expectations. Ashley was incredibly responsive, addressing every question or concern promptly, regardless of the time. John played a crucial role in the planning process, patiently guiding us through every detail and ensuring that we understood the entire process.
Our day-of coordinator, Deb, was an absolute gem. Her warm and personable nature instantly put us at ease, and she worked tirelessly to ensure that everything unfolded flawlessly. Trusting Kurtz's team to handle the placement of every detail was a stress reliever like no other. We could truly enjoy our day, knowing that we were in capable hands.
We opted for Dance Masters Entertainment as our preferred DJ, and Sue and Don elevated the reception to new heights. Their upbeat energy and enthusiasm turned the celebration into an unforgettable party. The dance floor was alive with joy, and they played a significant role in making our reception truly special.

Kurtz’s Beach was our second venue we looked at and we fell in love. Not only is the venue itself beautiful, but the staff is family and treats you like you’re a part of their family. They helped us find a new date when our original date we booked did not work with my husband’s schedule, they were honest about what you should spend money on and what you shouldn’t, they do all the set up and take down for you, and really make the day worry-free for the bride! I would book them over and over again if I could.

If I could give more stars for flexibility I would. The biggest praise I could give to this venue is their flexibility and patience to change things suddenly or even after an agreement was previously made. And for someone who is in law enforcement, I am extremely grateful for this venue’s flexibility and understanding. Day of went flawlessly thanks to the hard work of the coordinator and the staff. And the price you pay for this venue is a big bang for your buck with how beautiful the bay room and the adjoining patio. Highly recommend. -

Don’t pass on this AMAZING venue!!!
I cannot recommend Kurtz’s Beach enough!!!! They give you the family business personal attention with the professionalism of a large corporation. The setting is BEAUTIFUL! I could not have asked for a better location with the bay as a background. The hall is also gorgeous and gives elegant vibes. My fiancé is from Boston and kept saying they gave Cape Cod vibes which is what he always wanted!
John and Ashley are amazing at coordinating every detail while matching your individual vision. The food was incredible and all guests raved about the quality of the food! The organization was impeccable and they had every detail coordinated seamlessly.
Deb was our day of coordinator and she was PHENOMENAL! She made sure the day was perfect and checked in on us throughout the day to make sure we were doing okay. She was on top of every detail and kept us updated. She made us feel welcome at the cottages and had snacks and water all ready for us! She was an incredible asset to our day!
All brides should look into Kurtz’s Beach for their weddings!!! It was the best decision my fiancé and I made! -

If you’re considering them for your wedding— 100% Yes!
If you’re contemplating having your wedding here— 100 % do it. We got married in July and working with Ashley, John, & Deb at Kurtz’s Beach was the best decision.
Warning: this is a long review bc they deserve to know how special they are to us & the memory of our wedding day.
Summary: We toured 15 places in preparing for our wedding. Kurtz’s all-inclusive price was extremely reasonable, every single person I encountered was amazing to work with, the food was great, the venue layout flows nicely to encourage dancing and mingling, & Kurtz went above and beyond EVERY step of the way.
I am very “type A” & OCD about details & I LOVED how attentive Kurtz’s Beach was to every email, detail, & need.
9 days before the wedding, my husband got COVID & even without symptoms, we felt obligated to tell our guests. Our headcount dropped from about 135 to 105. As a bride, I was an emotional wreck and everyone at Kurtz swept in with so much compassion, reassuring me that it was going to be a great day. Even after setting everything up the night before, they said they’d gladly move the whole thing outside if that’s what I wanted to make people feel more comfortable. It’s a family business & they definitely made me feel like a part of the family through the process. I was not alone; I had them. ❤️
I spent over a year planning our wedding & it’s taken me 5 months to process everything that happened, so I apologize for the delayed review. Now after getting my pictures back & sending the thank you cards out, I can truly relax & appreciate how amazingly magical Kurtz’s Beach was.
During the initial logistical comparison of venues, I found several venues with a cheaper cost-per-person, but what I realized was many places had hidden costs for linens, coordinators, decorations, bartender, etc. Kurtz’s ended up definitely being the best value for my buck & I felt from day one that they would give me peace of mind (which is priceless).
I reserved the Port Royale cottage for pictures in advance of the wedding & reserved the whole venue. We got married bay-front, had room for a Welcome Picture station, 360° Photo Booth, & traditional Photo Booth. The layouts for the DJ, dance floor, bride & groom table, & event were perfect. I especially loved the memories bench they have for pictures of those who have passed. All of my personal touches were perfectly placed on the day of the wedding.
To Kurtz’s Beach, from the bottom of our hearts, thank you so much for saving the day & being such a great venue. We hope you have an amazing 2023!

Kurtz was everything we wanted and more. Ashley and John are a wonderful father daughter pair and they run a well oiled machine when it comes to their celebrations. Kurtz was worth every penny we spent and I wouldn't change anything for the world. And can I just say our day of coordinator DEB was AMAZING. I do not think I coulee gotten through the day without her or overcame my anxiety of how everything was going to be placed if we didn't have our meeting with her before the wedding. Words really cant explain how this venue made my wedding feel like a dream. My husband and I really did this and we had the best vendors we could've ever asked for and it all started with Kurtz. -

We looked for a venue on the water and there are certainly a lot of choices in this area of Maryland. We couldn't be happier that we went with Kurtz's for our wedding. Ashley was fantastic to work with; she was incredibly responsive whenever I emailed her with random questions. The entire team there was great, especially Deb, the day-of coordinator. Everyone did a wonderful job anticipating our needs and guiding us through the day. The venue itself is gorgeous, of course, and we loved the dressing cottage beforehand. The food was delicious and even when our getaway car was a bit late, John went to track them down for us. John recommended doing a prepaid bar tab, and they got the overage back to us before we were back from our honeymoon! Would happily work with the Kurtz's team again anytime! -

From the moment that I visited the venue Kurtz Beach made us feel so comfortable and that they would go above and beyond to make sure that we were taken care of. Ashley was extremely responsive via email and phone for any questions that I had and I knew I did not need to worry. The day of our wedding exceeded our expectations! We had an indoor ceremony followed by a cocktail hour outside and everything went seamlessly. The staff was absolutely incredible and Deb made sure that all the guests were taken care of. My family and friends could not stop raving about how kind and helpful everyone was. They went as far as setting up our champagne wall, moving our arch from the rivers chase to the bay room and setting up a third bar outside so there were never lines! We had 175 guests. The food service was so quick that we had over two hours to dance our hearts out! The circle shape of the bay room made it impossible to not be out on the dancefloor and that is exactly what we wanted. I 100% would recommend this venue to anyone looking to get married. -

Kurtz Beach was the perfect location to have our wedding. The professionals who work there make you feel comfortable and are incredibly friendly. They have been doing weddings forever and really know what they are doing!
The venue itself is gorgeous. My favorite part about the reception area is the shape of the room and dancefloor as a circle. They have updated lights which are so beautiful and you can set them to your preference. The room is newly renovated and has a very light and peaceful feel. There are three places to get married on the property which made it hard to choose because they are all so beautiful. We got married in the grass area overlooking the water. It has an amazing water view for guests to enjoy and for pictures!
We also got the men's and woman's cottages which are breathtaking. These were perfect for pictures and a First Look.

Kurtz's Beach was an absolute dream to work with! The location is great, the views are stunning, the rooms are gorgeous and the staff were amazing from beginning to the end and beyond. From the first time we walked onto the property we knew it was special. We dropped by one Saturday to show my parents the outside and the views, the staff was setting up for an event that evening and they let us walk around and answered any questions that we had. Every time we went there we were greeted by friendly faces and it just felt right that we should trust these people to make our wedding dreams come true! Ashley worked with us to find local vendors and she made sure to keep me posted on updates through the beginning of the pandemic. She helped us to make the very hard decision to postpone the wedding an entire year, which turned out to be the best thing to do. When it came to decorations, I gave her a general idea of what I wanted and what she did with the room was amazing! The day of staff were great to work with, everything went so smoothly and if there were any hiccups I was not made aware of them. The venue itself is beautiful and made for the perfect setting for photos. The food was great, and many people told us it was the best wedding that they had ever been to. I am so grateful for everyone at Kurtz's Beach who came together to make our day a dream come true! This venue is family owned, the staff is professional, friendly and so helpful. Wonderful experience
We had our wedding at Kurtz Beach 6/6/21 and it was absolutely amazing. John and especially Ashley were so welcoming and helpful during the entire process even with having to reschedule our date twice because of COVID. Their day of coordinator put all of my decor out, did everything I wanted and made sure the day went exactly the way it should. I can’t recommend this venue enough! Absolutely amazing time at Kurtz's Beach! We got married here in May 2021, and they were so helpful every step of the way! Ashley and John made sure every aspect of our wedding was exactly how we wanted it, and everything went beautifully. There was an abundance of linens to choose from, and all the catering was done in-house, minus the cake. John is an amazing chef, so it was very difficult narrowing down the meal choices for our guests! Being that I was an out-of-state bride, Ashley was more than accommodating when I asked to see the venue multiple times to determine decoration necessities. Deb was amazing with keeping things in order, as well as helping trouble shoot as we went! Even though it rained the entire day, the whole staff came together to make our big day more magical than we ever could have hoped for. We had our ceremony in the Rivers Chase room, which was the perfect backdrop for the romantic wedding we wanted, and the ballroom was perfect for all of the dinner, drinks, and dancing! I had my wedding at this venue during the pandemic. I was very pleased with how responsive and informative John and Ashley were throughout the entire process. John and Ashley make you feel like family and ensures that your needs are met from start to finish. I loved having my wedding at this venue and if I had to do it all over again I would choose Kurtz. The pricing was very reasonable and everything is included from tables, chairs, table cloths, china, etc. I really liked the packages available and I was very aware of all the fees upfront. My decor lady made the ceremony and reception look beautiful and being by the water was my favorite part about the venue. This venue is very spacious and will accommodate a huge wedding. You will not be disappointed with having your ceremony and reception at this location. It was stress-free, professional, and we had lots of fun.Kurtz's Beach's reply:

This venue, by far goes above and beyond for their clients. From day one, we knew this was the venue for us, the beautiful scenic view of the Chesapeake Bay and all of the customized options in between, made this a very simple "yes!" for my now husband and myself. When we were searching for venues there was absolutely no comparison to Kurtzs and other venues in the area. Mr. John, Ashley, and staff take care of you all the way from the beginning to the end. We loved them and this place! Our guests absolutely loved it too! They couldn't stop talking about the view, dance floor, and the food!!!! I can't recommend them enough! Our Enchanted Evening
Thanks to Kurtz’s Beach, our wedding was perfectly magical! I mostly communicated with John and Ashley - both are awesome, and respond very quick to any questions. The other team members were very professional, friendly and happy to help us every step during the planning and day of our wedding.
Our reception was in the Bay Room which is a beautiful waterfront location. I received so many compliments from our guests on the food and the venue.
So grateful we chose Kurtz’s Beach! -

The Venue is beautiful. The Food is excellent. The Service from the Wedding Coordinator of the Venue and the Venue's Personnel are outstanding. I would definitely chose from the vendor list that they recommend. Everyone told me that they had a fantastic time at the Wedding. The ballroom is beautiful and a great size especially for large Weddings. The entire venue is beautiful. I also rented both cottages and absolutely gorgeous. Highly Recommend !!Kurtz's Beach's reply:

My husband and I can't thank Kurtz Beach and staff enough! We were absolutely delighted with the First Class treatment we received from the minute we arrived Thursday for rehearsal, Friday for the wedding, and up to the moment we departed for the evening! Ashley and John, along with their staff have Kurtz Beach services down to a science, and it was perfect in everyway. A special thank you goes to our wonderful co-ordinator, Debbie who was by our side step-by-step. She was absolutely as professional and friendly as possible. No matter what we needed, Debbie was on top of it, whether we knew we needed it or not! HAHA! She kept all of us on task, which I know isn't always easy, to help the evening run on schedule, as best as possible. Despite the size of our group, she was completely delightful at all times, as was Lyle! We loved how open and friendly he was, and greeted us and our guests with such a broad smile and willingness to assist it just made the evening all the better!
The weather was perfect, the room was beautiful, the food was delicious and I will sing praise to everyone and anyone who is looking for a venue for any occasion! I also want to personally thank Ashley as well. From our first meeting, to all the emails back and forth for various reasons, she continued to be helpful, patient, informative and just all around awesome! Courtney is our youngest to marry, however, I hope we get to use your services again some day…. our grandchildren are growing fast… who knows!! LOL You're the best! You have so much to be proud of with your lovely venue, and I hope to encourage others to seek out your services as I know they will forever be happy! Again, thank you for everything!

Family/welcoming atmosphere is what made me fall in love with this Venue. The beautiful water views from the bay room and wedding ceremony areas were added bonuses! The staff was super helpful and accommodating when it started to rain an hour before our wedding time. They were able to move everything indoors without being able to tell it was a last minuet decision. Everyone at Kurtz’s was beyond accommodating. It was almost like they knew what could or would go wrong before it happened and they made sure it didn’t. Kurtz's Beach was an amazing and affordable venue for our June wedding, and right on the water like I always wanted with the reception hall right next to it making it super easy for everyone to move around and enjoy the food inside and nature outside without much walking. Everyone involved worked as a team and was very supportive throughout the day from setting up the tables and decorations in the morning just the way YOU WANT, to getting ready, to walking down the aisle, to serving food, announcements, and packing up the cars at the end of the night. Everyone who attended still to this day brings up how wonderful the venue and ceremony turned out to be; "one of the best weddings we have ever been to!" I'd definitely recommend this place. -

How can I begin to tell you how amazing Kurtz made my daughter’s wedding day? It could not have been more perfect. She wanted her wedding to be small and intimate with a ceremony on the water which was breathtaking. Her vision for her reception, Kurtz listened and saw what she wanted then perfected it. From the rustic tables and chairs, to the table setting, to the food and drink, to the wonderful staff and impeccable service, Kurtz made the impossible possible. Truly Incredible!
Kurtz's Beach was the absolute best choice for our wedding. Regardless of the weather, the venue was stunning and being able to have the reception in the same location made it so easy. The food was next to incredible and can accommodate guests with specific dietary needs. Ashley and John were extremely helpful in assisting us to get everything planned and executed. Their professionalism, organization and kindness are unmatched. Our day of coordinators, were also amazing and if there were any hiccups, we never knew. They were so attentive and made sure that we were having a spectacular time with our friends and family. We loved every minute of this experience. I got married last Saturday and can honestly say from start to finish, Kurtz's Beach was fantastic to work with! From the second my fiance (now husband :) ) and I stepped foot out of our car, we knew this place was special. The family owned vibe is apparent in everything they do and their experience in weddings is clear throughout the process. The staff members were so supportive throughout the process and answered any questions we had along the way, as well as gave us great suggestions to make sure the big day ran as smoothly as possible. Ashley and John were our main points of contact through the planning, and they were amazing to work with. They were always friendly and responsive to our needs. The rehearsal was well organized and eased any anxiety I had prior to the wedding. Everything was taken care of and it was clear we were valued and important. Our wedding day was PERFECT and we owe so much of that to the staff at Kurtz's beach. We honestly didn't have to worry about a thing that day! From the decorations to serving us drinks and checking in with us, everything was taken care of by the staff. It was so nice to have a venue that is so inclusive of services (ceremony, reception, food, alcohol, table linens, etc..), not to mention how BEAUTIFUL the venue is! Every one of our guests commented on how beautiful the scenery was. If you're looking for an all inclusive venue with perfect views and some of the kindest staff, I definitely recommend getting married at Kurtz's Beach!

From the very first meeting with John before booking to the end of our wedding night, I can’t speak higher of a venue. They handled every aspect like a well oiled machine and took care of so many aspects that other venues would leave up to the bride and groom to work out. Given the opportunity to do it all over again I would choose them again in a heartbeat.

Everyone was super accommating from changing the preset menu all the way from hand selecting gold candles to place at each guest table. Ashley, Jon, and Lynn were fantastic. They felt like family and were determined to make our special day perfect. I can't say thank you enough to them. We picked Kurtz's for its quaint location with great views of the water. We wanted the freedom of being able to move in and outside of the venue depending on the fall weather. This worked out perfectly for us! Not only was the water beautiful, but the landscape around Kurtz's was as well. Overall, we had a 5 star experience with Kurtz's and would highly recommend them.

The price were very reasonable, you won't find a better service anywhere. A friend of mind told me to be patient and to think that sometimes no everything can be the way I wanted. Well, let me tell you, everything went the way I wanted !!!! We had a beautiful water front wedding. We really loved it, the service and the organization were first class. Our guest enjoyed and some of them described our wedding like the best one they were into !

You can’t beat their prices either for a similar service! The photos don’t do justice to the balcony, and there is also a beautiful fire place and a cozy enterence room and a garden and playground outside

From the moment we engaged with Ashley, she was welcoming, responsive, professional, organized, thoughtful and truly made this experience for us stress-free and seamless. We immediately connected with John during our final consult and he was very accommodating for our guests that had dietary requirements. The food turned out fantastic and we received so many compliments on the food, the venue and the staff. Our guests were delighted and had a fantastic time. Our wedding day coordinator, Lynn, was on top of everything and she kept us to our schedule with ease and made sure we were having a great time! Our ceremony next to the Bay was the perfect backdrop and the setting was so intimate and special. The convenience of having our reception in the same space too was key! Our wedding was more perfect then we could've ever imaged. We would highly recommend Kurtz's as a perfect place to have a wedding.
