King Hooper Mansion Reviews

I cannot say enough positive things about the King Hooper Mansion and Betsy! When we read about the mansion on wedding wire, we were attracted by the charm and history as the house, as well as the beauty of the setting, Marblehead. When we first visited the house, we absolutely fell in love with it and the town. The house itself is gorgeous, full of New England character. We loved that it has an interesting story (King Hooper was a loyalist, philanthropic candle-maker!) that we could tell to our guests
We rented the whole house for our event. The ceremony was at Crocker Park, a small park overlooking the harbor, just a few minutes walk from the King Hooper. I can't express how beautiful the view was for the ceremony; our pictures are stunning. Next, we had a cocktail hour in the pretty gardens of the King Hooper, followed by dinner on the first floor and dancing in the upstairs ballroom. All of our guests commented on how beautiful and unique the venue was.
Furthermore, Betsy was so helpful and communicative throughout the whole planning process. She immediately responded to emails and phone calls, and she was so good at communicating with all the vendors to coordinate and make sure everything ran smoothly on the day of the wedding. She made the whole planning process so easy and fun.
I am so, so happy we had our special day at the King Hooper, and I'm only sad that the day is over. I wish we could do it all again because it was so much fun!
ps. the price was VERY reasonable, unlike many venues! This meant we could spend more on other services, like getting a string quartet to play during the cocktail hour!

A beautiful, charming, and unique place to have a wedding. We couldn't have been happier, and Betsy was SO helpful throughout the planning process. Everyone commented on how special our venue was!

This is a gorgeous gem in the heart of Marblehead's Old Town. I photographed an event there and it was a pleasure from start to finish. The back courtyard is perfection: scenic, comfortable- just lovely. And the rooms are beyond charming. I will be recommending this venue to all of my clients that need a special, perfect place. The staff there was accommodating, professional, and friendly. So impressed.

We did a combination 90th birthday party and art exhibit, which required flexibility and more flexibility. Everything came off beautifully, with no issues to resolve or resolutions to do things differently.

We could not have had a better venue for our daughter's wedding. It took place in the ballroom - a perfect spot for an evening of celebration and dancing.

Our wedding was picture perfect here--they were so flexible and SO KIND! We loved getting to know May at the King Hooper better. We couldn't believe how great they were to us and how stress-free everything was!
Not to mention the beauty of the old mansion and the amazing price that you can rent it for.
I would highly recommend this charming place in Marblehead! It was perfect for us :)

My son and daughter-in-law were married in Marblehead. We are not from the area but fell in love with Marblehead when my daughter and her husband and my granddaughter lived there for a year. So we all had to rent homes, rooms etc to stay for the wedding. We needed to find a space large enough for the bride, 7 bridesmaids and mothers to get ready. The space had to also allow room for a hair stylist, make up artist and three photographers!! We also wanted a space with charm, history and character. I remembered touring The Hooper Mansion a couple years earlier and hoped they would be willing to provide space for such an event. There was an art exhibit open to the public which made all the main rooms unavailable. However, an accommodation was made to allow us use of the tavern which also gave us use of the courtyard and gardens. It turned out to be so perfect!!! The group had a great time (they even allowed us to bring in snacks and drinks (and use the adjacent kitchen)! The character of the space made for some amazing photos and great memories! Thank you to everyone at the Hooper Mansion for your help and graciousness! It was the start of a perfect day!!

This venue is great for small weddings (ours was about 60). The reception was outside in the garden which looked beautiful with a tent overhead. We then moved upstairs for dancing. As far as dance floors go, it was fairly small and intimate which was great for getting people who wouldn't normally feel comfortable dancing. They were great to work with - very communicative and helpful during the planning process. Note that they are only a venue, so you'll have to arrange everything else. That said, they have good local connections with vendors that worked seamlessly together without needing much from us.
