User1393631 Sent on 10/22/2013Keith is the owner / chef for Keneke's, and was the main representative that we communicated with. He was awesome, especially with his laid-back nature, which we truly appreciate! Definitely NOT one of those very aggressive reps, which can be very difficult to deal with as a potential client! All he did was, listened to what you want, brought whatever you wanted to taste, and stepped aside so we can take our time to enjoy the samples he provided... that's all you pretty much need.
We primarily went with his wedding special #1. However, he was able to alter a couple options to meet our budget! Everything about the menu was winner, and the awesome thing was, the per head price already included pretty decent plating, utensils, wait staff, and a carver (it was Keith himself at our wedding).
My guests came up to us and praised how good the dinner was, and that the choices also seemed pretty healthy! Overall, very positive responses!
Although the entire team did a tremendous job serving our guests, I unfortunately had to dock off a star because our entire head table had to line up for the food themselves, as opposed to them plating it for us. Of course, we probably should have communicated better to have that service included. But ultimately, none of that staff stepped up to offer this, and my entire head table ended up lining up for their own food (including my maid of honor, whom ended up making both her's AND my plate).
Besides that slight ordeal, overall, my husband and I are extremely happy that we went with Keneke's! They were very familiar with our venue (Waikiki Aquarium), and were very quick with their procedures! From the beginning to the end, amazing food, amazing service! -

We are so happy that we booked Keneke’s Catering for our wedding. We were hesitant at first because we saw various reviews regarding their food vs. actually working with them after you book. But, we are so glad our wedding planner recommended them to us.
On their website, they have different packages you can choose from depending on what you want. We had 2 carving stations, 4 choices of pupus, 2 meat choices, and 1 seafood choice. They provide the utensils, water goblets, and plates also. You definitely get the most out of your money; the prices are absolutely fair.
I would definitely say that their responsiveness was lacking throughout our planning process. But when it was crunch time, everything came together. We were able to schedule a complimentary tasting at the restaurant with the owner, Keith, who is one of the nicest people ever. During our tasting, they brought out some food that we didn’t originally request—it was better than what we requested, and we ended up changing our entire menu!
The food was amazing and everyone enjoyed it. Even with the final head count + vendors, we still had a ton of leftovers (mostly the carbs). But everyone loved our food!

User2325690 Sent on 09/21/2015We really enjoyed the staff from Kenekes. They were all so cheerful and helpful!! Guests were very impressed that once they got to the reception they were greeted by servers with smiles and platters of food on the lawn. The servers also came down to us where we were taking pictures, such a nice touch. And Keith was great too - so laid back and great sense of humour. He was totally flexible and willing to change the menu however we wanted and extremely fair about the pricing. They aren't the typical catering company with lots of fine print, add-ones, policies, etc. They are a solid local company that runs on Aloha. The only reason I marked down for the quality is because not all the food was great . The mahi mahi at the tasting was absolutely incredible but at the wedding is was a bit dry. However, everyone raved about the poke, the shrimp cocktail, and the prime rib - those were definite winners!! Re responsiveness, at times it took awhile to get a response and they were always very short. Keith is definitely much better in person. But all in all, we were very happy with Kenekes and would hire them again in a heartbeat. -
User1668791 Sent on 06/18/2014I really didn’t know where to begin with catering. I had a few places in mind. But I’m a local girl, currently living on the East Coast now married to a Midwesterner. The majority of our guests were mainland folks – but we had a fair number of locals too. I really wanted my guests to get a taste of islands but not scare off our non-adventurous eaters. Spoiler alert: Everyone loved everything. People were raving about the food the next day.
All my planning was long distance so I had to rely on my parents to be the taste testers. My Dad who is a fairly “clean” and picky eater – loved every bite.
Keith and his team were fantastic. Everything they recommended was a hit. They were so relaxed and extra accommodating. They even threw in an extra dish for the one vegan we had and a few extra steaks to make sure we were covered. We had plenty of food and a great variety as well so people could be a little adventurous or stick with the basics.
My only regret? I didn’t eat more! People aren’t kidding when they say you barely eat at your own reception. I remember staring down at this yummy plate of food. I probably finished a fourth. Next time I’m home we’ll definitely make it a point to stop by Keneke’s for a meal. -
