Amazing wedding photos! I couldn't be happier.

Karyn and Joe shot my wedding in July of this year and captured our day perfectly. Our photos turned out perfect and we were provided a beautiful gallery that was beyond my expectations. They were amazing to work with, very responsive and communicative before, after and during our big day. They were experts in working with our large wedding party and guiding us on how/where to pose. Karyn and Joe were the perfect wedding photographers. We had a BLAST working with them on our wedding day! Karyn and Joe also went above and beyond the typical photographer duties. They helped us plan our wedding timeline down to every last detail and kept us on schedule the day of. They even spent time cruising around Holland before our wedding to make sure we had the perfect spots for photos! Our top priority once my husband and I started planning our wedding was to book a great photographer. We went to many bridal shows an met many photographers. While many of them looked good, Karyn and Joe stuck out to us among all of the rest. They are both some of the sweetest people you will ever meet! They were so personable, warm, and easy to get along with. Immediately after meeting them, we knew we wanted to work with them!
Before our engagement shoot, we had a lot of conversation back and forth about shooting locations. Karyn had some really great ideas and insight and listened to our preferences to help find the perfect location. Our engagement shoot was so much fun and Karyn and Joe captured some really great moments, including some cute ones with our new puppy.
The day of our wedding, Karyn and Joe were fantastic! They got shots of us getting ready separately as well as candid shots before our first look as well other little details we hadn’t even though of. We had picked out several shooting locations for before the ceremony with our bridal party, but unfortunately we were running a little late and were rushed for getting to all of our sites. They remained flexible and were able to get phenomenal shots at the spots we were still able to make it to.
They were very organized throughout parts that could have been chaotic (family portraits). They got shots of the reception venue before it was filled with people which were absolutely gorgeous. They were able to get such entertaining dancing pictures of our guests as well as ones with people mingling. We, (as well as our guests) were so impressed with how they were able to capture so many beautiful moments of the day and did not insert themselves into the center of everything like I’ve seen with other wedding photographers. Booking Karyn and Joe was the best decision we made during our planning process! Thank you so much Karyn and Joe!!

Karyn was wonderful to work with! She and her husband Joe are such a great pair to entrust your biggest memories to. They put my husband and me completely at ease and allowed us to completely be ourselves--they captured every detail and every emotion! My whole family was impressed with their professionalism and critical eye which is wonderful and rare! I cannot recommend Karyn enough for any event. Don't trust your photos to anyone! Trust them to someone who is artistic and creative but also an expert at utilizing natural light and keeping your photos true to life, but even more beautiful!

Karyn and Joe were an excellent team at our wedding this August in Grand Rapids. Karyn took the time to Skype with me before our wedding since I wasn't able to meet her in person before the event and for an hour we talked about what I was looking for, requested photos, styles, etc. It was phenomenal. The day of, Karyn and Joe took outstanding posed and candid photos of the night that I cannot stop showing off! They really go the extra mile- our photos arrived in the cutest box packaged with a bow and even a few extra prints! They are PHENOMENAL and I highly recommend!

We found Karyn and Joe May through a distant friend's pictures on social media. We loved the casual style and how they captured the real moments of the day. Before even meeting them Karyn talked to me on the phone for over an hour. She was friendly, informative and had a genuine interest in me and my wedding plans. When meeting with them, my husband and I fell in love with they photography and their personalities. They had so many examples of their work to show us and we loved all of it. Their pricing was very good for what was provided and the quality of their photographs. They have a few different tier packages which allows brides to find one that is just right for them and their budget. The free engagement session was awesome. They spent the entire day with us and captured some of the best photos of us. They were so comfortable to be around that day and on the wedding day when there is a lot going on. My husband and I come from big and involved families and they got along with every single family member. Our moms loved them and we barely noticed they were taking pictures. They worked great with our venue coordinators and our Catholic Parish. HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend! Seriously...no one better out there!

Every bride has her number one most important and valued detail for the biggest day of her life. For me, that was my photographer. If I was forced to sum it up, choosing Karyn & Joe was by far the BEST wedding gift my husband and I could have ever given ourselves; now and forever. In choosing a wedding photographer, I truly had no idea what to expect or look for. Karyn and Joe, a husband and wife dynamic team, just happened to be the first couple I reached out to and they set the bar so high. To be honest, I thought it was just about finding someone who could take a beautiful picture and edit it to make it even better – I was so wrong. I learned that photographers turn into family that day and Karyn & Joe were, and are, just that. From meeting them at our engagement session, all the way until the last minute of our reception, they were AMAZING. Not only do they work fantastic together, but they are just as impressive as individual photographers and as people. The dynamic duo made my husband and I feel beyond comfortable at every turn; we had Karyn & Joe with us for 12 hours on our wedding day and every second was absolute bliss. They kept up with the craziness of the day, and made our day even more PERFECT. They are passionate and motivated about what they do and it is so evident in their work and personalities. When I first started looking for a photographer, I knew that who ever I chose had to be AMAZING. After all, for me, one of the most important vendors was the photographer (I'm sure I'm not alone in saying this).

I came across Karyn's website from a simple online search, set up a meeting with her and her husband, Joe, and instantly fell in love! Her work was fabulous and they were just the nicest people ever! I booked a package with her that also included our engagement session.

Karyn worked with us and made sure we were happy with everything. She scouted out locations and let me tell you, they were absolutely perfect!!

Karyn and her team paid extra close attention to all of the important details at my wedding and I couldn't be more thrilled to have had such a wonderful experience.

The photos turned out absolutely stunning and I wouldn't dream of recommending anyone else! If your number one vendor priority is photography then you MUST have Karyn May Photography!

We chose to use Karyn & Joe for our wedding this past September and as soon as we met them for our engagement picture session we knew it was the perfect match! Karyn and Joe were unbelievably helpful from day one. They listened to us and what we wanted in our wedding pictures and made sure that all the decisions we made were ones that would stay true to our taste and vision! We got so many compliments on our engagement pictures and had a hard time narrowing it down to just one for our save the date, so we were certain we were in good hands for our wedding day pics. The day of our wedding Karyn & Joe were above and beyond anything we could have asked for. We had planned for an outdoor ceremony and reception, but as the wedding approached we realized the weather wasn't looking like it was going to cooperate. Karyn worked with me to come up with a Plan B for photos if it did rain so that we would be able to get beautiful pictures and not get us or our bridal party soaking wet (our venue did not have many covered places)! The day of the wedding her and Joe patiently monitored the storm forecast for us and were in constant contact with our vendors at the venue to get their opinion on what the weather looked like there. They patiently listened to all my concerns and answered my questions to help me decide what the best game plan would be for me and my husband. Ultimately, their patience calm demeanor set the tone and everyone followed their lead. During our reception they were always one step ahead, any time I would ask to make sure they got a picture, they would either already have gotten it done or have a fabulous idea on some way to improve the picture. When we were blessed with a few moments of sunlight and a double rainbow right before dinner, Karyn & Joe didn't skip a beat, but went running with us outside onto the golf course to take advantage of the light! The few "sneakpeeks" I saw of these images with the sun, were truly breathtaking and made the rain completely

We got married August 16th in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Our journey with Karyn and Joe began a year prior. We first met them for our engagement shoot Labor Day weekend and instantly felt a connection with them. Karyn and Joe work so well together and make you feel extremely comfortable. Their strategy of having Karyn as the first shooter with Joe shooting behind the scenes works amazing. You get portrait like photos as well as natural, in the moment photos. Karyn and Joe May at Karyn May Photography were incredible. The minute I spoke with Karyn on the phone I knew I was going to love her. She makes you feel like you've known her your whole life. As anyone planning a wedding knows, it's a crazy time. Karyn and Joe made everything so much simpler. Karyn always was available to answer questions and put my mind at ease. When I got to meet them in person at our engagement photos it confirmed everything I already thought of them. When our pictures came back we were THRILLED to say the least. My husband (fiance at the time) was laughing at me because I had one of our engagement pictures in every room. On our wedding day, they were amazing as well. Karyn May and her husband (and partner-in-crime), Joe, are hands-down the best photographers in the West Michigan area and you would be a fool not to inquire with them for your special day! We received a referral from a friend (who's pictures were absolutely gorgeous) and were super excited that Karyn was available on our wedding day. Because we live out of town we didn't get to do an engagement session, but we were able to meet Karyn and Joe for coffee before the wedding to go over the final details and get to know each other a bit. They really wanted to understand what was important to us, what we envisioned for our wedding day and photos and had great suggestions and advice for us from their vast experience. When the big day arrived everything went wonderfully. They had great locations picked out for us and kept the pictures moving along without missing any details. We couldn't have asked for better photographers to spend our entire day with, they were true professionals and wonderful people to be around. My husband and I were married In July at the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel. When we first began planning our wedding we knew exactly what we we're looking for when it came to our photography... We wanted clean and candid photos and wanted to be able to enjoy our wedding day, not being dragged every which way for pictures. Karyn and JOe make the best team. Having two photographers (especially one male and one female) was AWESOME. They exceeded our expectations in every way and our photos are beautiful. Karyn May Photography is absolutely the best out there! Choosing the perfect photographer is such an important, yet time consuming, part of the planning process. We looked through so many pictures from several different photographer's websites, but none stood out to us. That is until we came upon Karyn May's website. The pictures were so beautiful and natural, and we just loved the work. We contacted Karyn for more info, and she was really friendly, professional and answered all of our questions. On the day of our engagement session, we were having such a blast that the time just flew by. Karyn and Joe made us feel so comfortable and at ease. My husband hates taking pictures, and never even once complained or asked what time it was. I was impressed! On the day of our wedding, Karyn and Joe were right on time and ready to start shooting. They were such a blast and easy to work with. Our whole family even commented on how great they were! Karyn and Joe worked as such a great team together, we couldn't wait to see the pictures. When we got the pictures, the results were absolutely amazing. They were so detailed on the shots they captured and everything looked fantastic. We couldn't have been happier with their energy, professionalism, and quality of work. We highly recommended Karyn May Photography!!

It was a no brainer when it came to who was going to take our wedding pictures. We had been meeting with different photographers throughout the week and when we stepped into her studio, it clicked. We immediately LOVED Karyn and Joe. It was a chemistry that I had been looking for in a relationship between bride/groom and photographer. The studio was gorgeous, clean, and had amazing images hung all over the walls. The presentation they had was exceptional. I had no doubt in my mind that they would be the perfect fit for us and capture every moment I would hold dear to my heart. When I left I was beyond excited, I knew this would be the right choice, the PERFECT choice! After we contacted them to solidify them as our photographers, we talked engagement pictures in Traverse City. Karyn and Joe jumped in their car, drove the 2.5 hours up with huge smiles on their faces and took amazing engagement pictures. The processing time was quick and seamless. There was a blog post for some sneak peeks and the CD with all the images came shortly after. The CD was packaged very professionally and super cute. Then came the wedding day, AMAZING!! Those two work so smoothly and professionally, never making me feel bossed around or like it wasn't my day. They made us the center of attention. Their professionalism had all my family members wishing they used Karyn at their weddings. They were willing to go anywhere we wanted, switch up the schedule we had planned, and running to site to make sure it was the perfect lighting and background. They would bend over backwards to make us happy, never pushing us to do anything we didn't want to do and they were calm. Some photographers can get hyper and bossy, that was definitely not the case with Karyn and Joe. Amazing. I can't even put into words how awesome these two are. I would HIGHLY recommend Karyn May Photography to ANYONE! For any photographic needs, you will be happy you booked them. Thank you SOOO much Karyn and Joe! You guys ROCK!

Karyn and Joe are absolutely amazing to work with. Through the entire process of scheduling and planning, they make you feel like you are their only wedding client in all the world! On wedding day, they went above and beyond all expectations, and I simply cannot wait for our wedding photos. If they are as great as our engagement photos, I know I'll be beyond happy!!

Could not have asked for better people to work with on the biggest day of your life! Karyn and Joe are AMAZING people as well as amazing photographers! They are flexible, relaxed, and truly great at what they do! We are so happy we chose them! I would recommend them to anyone- you won't doubt your choice!

Just FYI, I was the groom...I hope that doesn't invalidate my review.

We used Karyn May Photography for both our wedding and engagement pictures, and they are beyond great! What really sets them apart is their warmth and friendliness. We instantly felt comfortable with them, and they fit right in with all of our family and friends at the wedding. I really think that's why they took such wonderful photographs...they really became a part of the celebration, and took pictures that captured the real feel of the ceremony and reception. If they were just great people, that would be enough, but they are fantastic photographers as well. Every shot they took was beautiful. And (I'm not sure how we worked this out, since my wife set everything up) we got discs with all of our pictures so we didn't have to choose certain shots from a set of proofs...I think that's great. We are so happy that we chose Karyn May Photography to capture the memories of our wedding day!

Karyn and Joe were a pleasure to work with from the begining. Karyn promptly returns e-mails and does her best to accomodate her clients. Joe and Karyn came all the way to Chicago to take our engagement pictures. They took incredible pictures in Chicago as always. Their enthusiasm they have for their work really sets them apart. As far our wedding day they could not have been more helpful. They go above and beyond to capture the special moments of the day. My husband and I love all the photos they took. We would strongly reccommend them and their work.

Karyn and Joe are not only amazing photographers, they are great people!!! Working with them was such a fun and relaxing experience, they made everything super easy and stress free! We couldn’t be happier with our wedding photos. They captured our day so perfectly. I especially loved the range of photos they did, from detailed shots of the flowers, venue, and dress, to intimate moments shared with family and friends. Everyone who has seen our photos has commented on their beauty and level of expertise. We had actually gotten set up with another photographer in the area through friends, but unfortunately with our wedding being so close to the start of school she could not do it with her kids. Lo and behold, she knew Karyn and Joe and highly recommended them, and with my permission asked if they were willing to travel to our wedding in Wisconsin and if they were available that weekend. They were!! I met with them one afternoon and we had such easy conversation with so much laughing! We were all very comfortable right away. A few months later we had our engagement session set up and we spent at least 3 hours together, and it was just like a night out with friends! Our pictures turned out beautiful as well. Karyn and Joe know exactly how to capture the perfect picture. It's incredible working with a husband and wife team as well - they are very supportive of eachother and it's so fun to be around and just relaxed us immediately and throughout the photographing. When it came to wedding day - with them having to travel, they came the night before and let me know when they got there and their plans, so I didn't have to add them to my worry list and then all the days leading up to the wedding Karyn and I spent many minutes on the phone and emailing getting a plan down for the big day. It went off without a hitch! The pictures were fabulous and plentiful! I've had so so many compliments on our engagement and wedding pictures. I cannot thank them enough for the time spent with us and the time spent with our pictures to capture our very special day. Of course, my husband and I are madly in love, and it was very cool to be surrounded with the love that Joe and Karyn share with eachother, for eachother and for photography. We very honored and lucky to have made friends forever in these two!

Choosing Karyn May Photography for our wedding day was the perfect decision! Karyn is great to work with and you know she really cares about making your day as special as possible. She does a beautiful job capturing every feeling of the day. It’s been just over 5 years since we got married and it is still so exciting to look back thru our wedding album. In the five years since we married we’ve had two children … we worked with Karyn and Joe over the summer on family pictures and individual pictures of the kids and were just as happy as we were with our wedding photos. I find myself going to their website often to see what new and beautiful photography they’ve posted! Thank you Karyn and Joe!!!

Karyn and Joe are AMAZING. They are amazing people and amazing photographers. I loved Karen's work the minute I saw her website. I told my husband, "I am meeting with her, and I don't need any other names, I want HER to shoot our wedding!!!" We met with Karyn and looked at more of her work while she got to know Michael and I, it was like sitting down with an old friend and catching up. Our engagement session was really fun...Karyn and Joe even had us bring our puppies (our babies) to have a few family shots taken with them. They had everything planned out, and even took it upon themselves to pre plan a visit to a place that was so Michael and I for more pictures! Karyn and Joe love photography and sharing their gift. They capture moments that last a lifetime. Karyn and Joe had no time limit and spent every second making sure they captured every special moment. I never once felt like they were rushing or would have rather been somewhere else. They were fully there in body and spirit. It may be a job, but I think for them it’s a way of life and a passion and you can tell!! I find myself visiting her website and blogs often just to look at their work and what amazing moments they captured for others. I gave a bride to be that I met at a Bachelorette party Karyn’s info and a few weeks later at the wedding of a friend she told me she booked Karyn and Joe and were so excited. Look at her work, meet with her and you will find yourself in the same boat  My husband and I had a baby 5 months ago and were getting things in the works for some family photos and guess who were going to ask… KARYN and JOE!

Karyn & Joe have photographed just about every wedding in my family, my husband and I couldn't be happier with how our wedding day was captured. Every time we look at our photos we notice something new & special in each of them. Karyn & Joe are amazing people and great to work with, I love that they are able to capture photos to each couples style and personality. You can't go wrong with them!

Karyn and Joe are the absolute best! First of all, they are amazing people and so helpful, caring, kind and FUN!!! We knew that we desired them to be our photographers after the first meeting we had with them. They make you feel so comfortable and relaxed no matter if it's taking your pictures or planning your day. They really went above and beyond to make our day fun while capturing images that will last our lifetime. They are a couple who is completely in love which makes them appreciate your day that much more! We spent hours with them for our engagement pictures and felt like we were just hanging out with friends. One of the best things that they do is... they let you be you, the way you are as a couple and they have a way of bringing that out in your pictures. We love Karyn and Joe so much and couldn't have imagined better results and people to have be a HUGE part of our special day!

I could not be happier with our choice of photographer in Karyn May Photography - Karyn and Joe are a special couple and their love and joy makes it easy to be in front of their camera. They spent numerous hours with us taking engagement pictures and made us even more excited to work with them on our wedding day - That excitement was realized when the entire day went perfectly. Karyn and I spent time on the phone and via email, planning the day from beginning to end and I shared with her all the important things I wanted to have her photograph. Karyn and Joe captured everything I asked for, perfectly. I laughed and cried as I looked through our wedding proofs and was so happy with the pictures that were captured. I would highly recommend them and loved working with them.

I used Karyn as my wedding photographer in September 2006. We loved that fact that she had an unlimited amount of locations that she would take pictures at, and that she was with us all day, from 8am at the hair salon, until 11:00pm at our reception. She accomadated any special requests we had. We also chose to purchase our proofs on a CD, so we can make as many copies as we want at any location. If pictures are important to you, I would definately recommend her.

When planning our wedding, my partner and I decided to invest in the photographer and wedding bands. The rest of the details of the day becomes somewhat trivial over time. Incredibly good photographs remind us of what remember and what we forget. Karyn and Joe do incredible work. They are present with fabulous energy and are incredibly patient. As a somewhat stressed bride, I found that ink could relax... Be me and enjoy the day with Joe and Karyn. The pictures reflect that.

Karyn and Joe May were exceptional!!
We loved their work and their professionalism...they also seem to give you that personalized attention everytime you speak with them.
The only downfall with their services are that they are busy (because they are so talented) so booking engagement sessions is a little limited. However, if you do it right off that bat there should not be any issues.
We loved our photographers :)
