Karen was great to work with! We are very happy we chose to order our wedding cake from her. Our wedding cake was delicious, and we received many compliments on both the actual wedding cake, and the other smaller deserts we ordered through her. She was also kind and accommodating during our tasting, and was able to provide helpful advice on arranging dessert for a large wedding.
Cake from Karen Rodkey Cakes is fantastic! We highly recommend the tiramisu toffee flavor.

Outstanding cakes!
We originally weren’t going to have a wedding cake but ended up trying Karen’s cake at a bridal convention. It was so good we ended up purchasing a bridal shower cake, wedding cake and grooms cake! As delicious as they are beautiful!!

The best cake I’ve ever had in my life!
I’m not a big cake fan honestly.. When me and my now husband taste tested her cakes I tried the spice one and OMG I’m not lying when I tell you it’s literally the most amazing cake ever… the cake is super moist and the buttercream melts in your mouth. I got so many compliments by everyone and I ate it for days after our wedding day 🤭 I promise you that you will not be disappointed… Not only did it taste great but it looked beautiful as well! Our 3-tier wedding cake was absolutely fantastic, and so was our overall experience with Karen. She has an adorable cake shop built out of her house where you can see tons of decor examples to choose from when you go for your tasting... she really can do anything and is a true artist!
On our wedding day, the cake was delivered promptly on time to the venue and in perfect condition. And not only was the cake beautiful, but it was absolutely delicious! We went with almond chambord, and everyone loved it... my family was fighting over the leftovers. My mom claims the cake was the best part of my entire wedding, and wouldn't stop talking about it for weeks after (not exaggerating). MULTIPLE of my guests independently told me it was the best wedding cake they've ever had. My husband and I both agree, unbiasedly! It was so moist and flavorful. The leftovers tasted just as good days later. We're counting down the days to eat the top tier for our anniversary!
I highly recommend Karen for any type of cake! Thank you Karen!

The best wedding cake!
The entire experience with Karen was amazing. The tasting was truly special and her house is beyond beautiful. All that said, there is NO comparison to her cakes. My now husband does not like cake and thought cake tasting would be his least favorite part of wedding planning, but he was wrong, he LOVED Karen's cakes. We have heard numerous compliments from our guests (and vendors) saying it was the best wedding cake that they have ever had. It was also beautiful! We couldn't reccomend Karen more.

Amazing cake!
Karen makes an incredibly delicious and beautiful cake. We had a tiramisu toffee cake + almond cake that were so, so tasty! The decorations were also fantastic, highlighting the nerdy things we wanted to show like Quidditch hoops, D&D dice, and sugar flowers. Karen was also really easy to work with and friendly. We'll be going back to have her make our anniversary cake!

Delicious and Beautiful Cakes
When we went to the Frederick Wedding Expo, we had an exact idea of what we wanted our cake to look like. We went to each cake vendor, showed them the picture, and asked if it was possible. Every single one of them told us to go talk to Karen Rodkey and we are so glad we did!
Karen is wonderful to work with and, by her own admission, is willing to try almost anything. When we had to move our reception, she worked with us to make two cakes -- one for our small wedding celebration and one for our future reception. Both cakes thematically work with each other and their flavors are FANTASTIC!
While our reception cake isn't until 2022, I can say that our smaller wedding cake was phenomenal. We went with a Tiramisu and Snickerdoodle cake and everyone loved it. The icing was perfect - not too sweet or too much. The cake was moist and flavorful. It was exactly as we remembered it when we visited her for our cake tasting (when you do this, you will fall in love with her home!).
She does do delivery, but we had a close friend who drove by the area so she picked it up. The cake was ready and on time for our friend to pick up. Also, it looks fantastic.
Love love love her cakes and recommend her for anything that requires cake and a celebration!

We cannot thank our venue enough for suggesting Karen Rodkey Bakery. She has so many different types of cake to taste that it was extremely difficult to narrow down the selection to decide on what we wanted to taste test. She made us feel welcome the moment we stepped into the door. We took ideas of what we thought we wanted for the cake and then she added suggestions to make the cake look even better. The cake turned out looking fantastic. We are still getting compliments from our guests about how delicious the cake was. We would suggest her to anyone who wants a great cake on a budget.

I live in CA and was having a wedding in PA, only there one day for planning. Karen prepped the flavors I wanted and had them delivered to my venue so I could try them at my leisure. She gave me a phonecall to talk about decoration and to make sure I had exactly what I wanted. She made us two different flavors for each layer and they were both excellent. (I personally recommend the lemon chambord!)

Amazing cakes!
Booked Karen Rodkey Cakes for our wedding and will definitely be suing her for future events. We went with a small cake and lots of cupcakes for our special day. Our favorite was the margarita cake! Karen was awesome! We met with her for a tasting of several flavors of her cakes a few months before the wedding. I think we ended up ordering almost every flavor we sampled for the wedding. We ended up with four flavors. Everyone raved about the cake. Our wedding was 6 months ago and people still will mention how good the cake was at our wedding. Karen made us a medium size decorated cake and then several sheet cakes to save money. ( No one knows the difference.) Also, it was as beautiful as it was delicious!!

A cake to die for!

Karen was wonderful from the moment we met her. She brought us into her home for our tasting, where she had prepared an assortment of small cakes. She took the time to talk with us and gave us more options than we knew existed (combining multiple cakes in the same layer, for example), and she was flexible when we changed our minds about the cake's appearance in the weeks leading up to the wedding. We were delighted by every part of putting our wedding cake Karen’s hands. She is lovely and wonderful to work with and the cake was perfect! It was beautifully decorated, getting it done and delivered required zero effort from us, and it was delicious! One of the most complimented aspects of the wedding. Hands down, the best cake that I have EVER had. We had a different flavor for each tier and even had a separate Anniversary cake made because we wanted our guests to be able to try all of the flavors. This is the only person I will ever buy cakes from again for any occasion. Not only was the taste of the cake phenomenal, but the cake was perfect and everything that I had imagined it to be. Cross something off your to do list quickly by just choosing Karen Rodkey cakes. I went to a few tastings in Central PA and Maryland, and Karen's cakes are by far the most delicious. Karen is also extremely professional and responsive. I had a four tiered cake with carrot cake, chocolate cake with chocolate ganache, lemon with raspberry chambourd (the best!!) and strawberries n' cream. Each flavor was delicious. The cake itself was beautiful.

Her cake designs are beautiful and she created a fall leaves cake that perfectly fit our autumn wedding. Her cake tasting provided much more than expected- not only did she give us generous samples of the flavors we chose, she offered expert advice and suggestions to help us get the cake we wanted. We choose two flavors and a cake that would allow guests to have both flavors in each slice. From our initial meeting we were able to nail down our flavors (3 different flavors) and complete our cake design. When the cake was delivered it was perfect! The cake was absolutely beautiful - we brought Karen an idea of what we wanted from Pinterest and she replicated the parts we loved and then improved upon the design. Since our wedding colors were seafoam and gold, she did an ombre 4-tiered cake (dark to light) with cascading gold sugar flowers down the side.
The flavor was equally wonderful! She was flexible and did a complex combination of chocolate, vanilla, cheesecake filling, and fresh raspberries to exactly match what we asked for.
All of the guests loved the cake! Even people who don't normally like cake commented on how tasty it was.

Karen was absolutely wonderful from the time I met her at a bridal show several months prior to our wedding through our wedding day. Karen was a vendor at a local bridal showcase and had her booth set up with more cake flavors than I (or my mom, aunt, and bridesmaid that were with me) could taste! Everything I tasted was absolutely delicious and as she was closing down she was generous enough to send a few samples home with me so that my fiancé could taste them too! My fiancé and I set up a tasting and Karen provided us with three mini cakes in our choice of flavors free of charge. She even happened to have a few extra flavors available when we got there to try too. The sample cakes were quite large for samples and we were able to take our leftovers with us to share with each set of parents so they could taste them too! We gave Karen our preferences regarding number of tiers, shapes, decor, etc. and she did an absolutely wonderful job--in both appearance and flavor. The cake itself was absolutely delicious--several people have said it is the best wedding cake they've ever tasted! I am very happy that we chose Karen to provide our wedding cake and would absolutely recommend her to anyone looking for a wedding cake! She was very responsive and accommodating and was a pleasure to work.

My husband and I received services got our cake from Karen through the Gettysburg Hotel in Gettysburg, PA. The process was super simple and I only had about 1 conversation with Karen concerning what I would like to see on the cake. We first tasted her cakes at our food tasting at the Hotel and it was incredible. Our cake came included in our wedding package so we got a great deal. Met with Karen for wedding cake consultation. She had 3 mini cakes prepared for my fiance and myself. They were the most delicious cakes I have ever tasted and I'm not really a cake lover but I am in love with those mini cakes. We decided to go with all three flavors. My husband’s family has been going to Karen Rodkey for a number of years for all their cakes From Wedding Cakes to Baby/Bridal Shower Cakes she always kills it. That said, it was no different when it came time for my husband and I to choose a Wedding Cake. We had looked at other vendors just to do our due diligence, but nobody compared to the quality and value that Karen provided. Starting from the tasting where Karen pulled out even more flavors than the ones we had originally requested, we knew she would deliver once again. She helped us create a custom design for our cake as well as the surprise grooms cake for my husband. The day of, they both were absolutely beautiful and we couldn’t have been happier. She was timely and very friendly to work with throughout the planning process and we knew we had made the right decision as we left the cake tasting at her home in Littlestown. Karen invites you in and treats you as if she's known you for years! We tasted a TON of flavors and had so much trouble making decisions! We ended up with 3 different flavors, one for each of our "guest" layers of cake. Our guests were amazed at the beauty of the cake as well as the taste! The cake was definitely the best cake we've had, especially at a wedding where it's usually dried and tasteless. We bought our wedding cake from Karen for Valentine's day of 2014. We were planning to pick it up on the 13th and keep it in the refrigerator overnight, but we had a snow storm. I think we changed our minds no fewer than 5 times as to when we were picking up our cake - the afternoon of the 13th, or the morning of the 14th before our wedding. Karen was very understanding and quite flexible. We ultimately picked the cake up the morning of the 14th. The roads were snow covered, and when we got there, her husband was clearing the sidewalk. Of course, we had freezing rain before the snow, so there was ice under the snow. Karen carried our cake out to our truck for us, while her husband walked along with her (in the snow covered grass) and held her in case she slipped. The cake was not only beautiful, it was delicious! (Hummingbird cake) This evening, we took the top layer of our cake out of the freezer and ate a piece. We had Karen Rodkey create our wedding cake. We received recommendations from both our reception coordinator and photographer. They both said that Karen's cakes were something special and they were absolutely right! My fiance and I were concerned about the cake, as all the weddings we have been to the cake was just okay. But Karen's cakes are amazing! I can't stress that enough. They are so flavorful and moist. Just great!
Karen gave us the opportunity to taste three different cake flavors, but once arriving at her place in PA, she had five additional flavors for us to try. We ended up selecting three flavors, two of which were from the additional flavors she had that day. We also got to take the remaining cakes we chose home. Our families got a sneak peak. The flavors that stood out to us were the spice (so good), german chocolate, and lemon chambord. Karen was quite flexible in the design of the cake. We actually ended up having the first two tiers being split tiers between german chocolate and italian cream (because we couldn't decide). That way our guests got a taste of both! The third tier was lemon chambord and the fourth italian cream again. The cake turned out amazing! Karen listened to what I wanted and made it come alive. It was much more beautiful than I had ever expected. Our guests were wondering if it was a real cake because it was so perfect and beautiful. I couldn't have asked for more.

Karen made our cake for our wedding at the Gettysburg Hotel. We had a vintage birdcage motif for our décor, so I really wanted a birdcage shaped cake. I brought in some pictures when we met with Karen at her very unique and beautiful home. I was worried because I brought in about 20 pictures (since Pinterest didn't have exactly what I wanted), but the cake Karen created WAS PERFECT. Karen made our cake for our vow-renewal in November, 2014. We wanted an unusual cake design.... Three tiers of "pumpkin" shaped layers with lots of fondant leaves, nuts, berries in between the layers, as well as a monogram in the center layer with Celtic knots. Karen did not disappoint. The cake looked amazing!!! The taste.....well, it was out of this world!! We had two flavors - Chocolate with peanut butter filling, and pumpkin spice cake with cream cheese filling. Frosting was her white butter cream, which was not too sweet. We could not have asked for anything more. Karen rocks! We highly recommend using Karen for your next event!

I loved our cake that Karen created. She was wonderful to work with and very down to earth. She captured everything we wanted in our cake and it was just stunning. All of our guests loved how great it tasted. It was delivered on time and I was very pleased with my service.

Everyone was raving about the amazing cake made by Karen. We had a lot of noncake eaters that went back for more! She worked with us, making sure we had all the requested flavors, and the cake's look was just amazing! The cake was such a hit we only took a few uneaten pieces home! It wasn't to sweet, it had just the right amount of cake taste (if that makes sense). Any more big events in our family Karen Rodkey Cakes will be our go to!

My wedding cake was one of my favorite things at my wedding. For not being able to see the cake before "the day," I was blown away! Karen was able to create EXACTLY what I described to her (months before the big day) and it was absolutely perfect. Not only looking good the cake tasted amazing - moist and delicious as her cakes always are. Every bride should consider Karen Rodkey Cakes for their wedding (or any event!).

I never had to worry- Karen made our cake absolutely gorgeous and absolutely delicious! The guests were raving about our cake. YUMMMMMMMM!!!! Holy wow. My cake was so good!! We joke, but are serious, about finding excuses to get cake from her again and again (we have 2 birthdays coming up - YAY!!!). EVERYONE loved the cake. We had a 3 tiered cake. The top and bottom were chocolate, and the middle was white Chambord with raspberry filling. It was to die for. We are struggling to keep the top layer in the freezer for our anniversary - it is calling us.
When we went for tasting - all of the flavors we tried were so good! It was hard to decide. Oh - if you are having your wedding at Gettysburg hotel - you are in for a treat. If not - you need to call Karen and get her to make your cake. YUMMMM!!!!!

Karen's cakes are absolutely stunning- she has some real talent and is a true artist. We booked Karen through our vendor (The Links at Gettysburg) and I am so glad that we did. From the beginning, my husband and I had different visions for what we wanted our cake to look like (he wanted something more simple, I wanted something with a lot of color and shapes). We went to Karen's house for our consultation with so many ideas in mind and wound up choosing a design from a cake that she had on display there.
Our colors were purple and lime green and she was able to incorporate them in a simple three tier cake with ombre purple frills on every other tier and lime green flower accents. It turned out really well.
Karen is also flexible with cake flavors and offers many options. My husband and I couldn't decide which flavors to choose because there were so many that we liked so we decided to go with red velvet and vanilla (bottom tier), confetti cake (middle tier) and tiramisu (top tier).

Our cake was one of the highlights of our wedding! It was beautiful and exceeded our expectations. Karen's cakes are fresh and the icing is the best i've ever had, not too sweet but just enough to make a delicious cake. She is also very flexible and make whatever your vision is a reality! We have received a ton of compliments on our cake and most people went back for seconds and thirds! Karen Rodkey Cakes are the best, not to mention affordable!

Karen Rodkey's wedding cake was delicious. I wanted a lace like design on the cake and while other vendors would charge several hundred dollars extra, Karen did not. She made a beautiful cake that was delicious at a great price. My only regret was not saving the top tier! Definitely choose Karen Rodkey for your wedding!

Karen was a pleasure to work with. Our first meeting was great. We got to try some of the best flavors, and she was very receptive and helpful with all of my ideas. Not only was she reasonably priced, but her cakes taste AMAZING. Nothing like normal wedding cakes that are "eh." Her cakes are absolutely delicious AND beautiful. She is sweet and professional to work with, and her cakes are gorgeous, and soooo scrumptious. Couldn't have asked for more. My advice is to order extra cake so that you can take some home!! SO GOOD.

Karen was great! I met her at a bridal show and then had to meet with her to do my wedding cake. She did a full tasting for us and felt confident she could make our design. We ended up loving two flavors so she arranged that both flavors would be in one tier so that our guests could taste both. I also called her two weeks before our wedding to order a grooms cake and she was happy to help despite the short notice! I was very pleased with both cakes! The carrot cake was the best I've ever had!

My wedding cake was beautiful and absolutely delicious! The cake was three layers…strawberry shortcake, boston cream and vanilla lemon berry. Every flavor was delightful. My absolute favorite was the strawberry shortcake, though. The cake was very moist and flavorful. I also loved the icing. I’m not generally a big fan of buttercream but Karen’s buttercream is delicious! It’s not overly sweet. It’s just the right level of sweetness. Do yourself a favor and schedule a cake tasting with Karen. You won’t be disappointed. Her cakes are amazing! My guests all raved about her cake!

When my husband and I first started talking about getting married in Gettysburg, I did a Google search on weddings in the area and came across a picture of one of Karen's cakes. It was so beautiful and fit us so well that it inspired our color choices: navy blue and fuchsia. As it turned out, a wedding cake by Karen came with the catering package at our reception venue. Score! Working with Karen was really easy. When I showed her a picture of that cake that inspired our colors as well as our logo and flower choices, she came up with a design that I absolutely loved. The cake came out great and tasted delicious.

These comments are from the father of the bride. Simply amazing is her work. My wife said the cake was the most beautiful cake she had ever seen and this was a comment we heard many times during the evening. Our daughter wanted a beach theme and Karen used many a star fish to accomplish it. My wife found a picture of dancing star fish on the internet and Karen used that picture to make that in chocolate for the top. The flavors she used to make the cake were delicous and Karen worked with our daughter and son-in-law in selecting those flavors. I can't say enough about how thrilled we were with the cake.
