Judith Rae is by far the best photographer we have used for all of our family events!

Photography has always been an important part of my life since childhood and continues to be my favorite form of art. It was therefore imperative that the photographer for my daughter's wedding be exceptional on many levels.

After looking at Judith Rae's portfolio, I knew she would capture every magical moment at the perfect time,and in the perfect space. Judith has the innate capability of sensing when to be ready for that unique moment, and how to plan for it ahead of time.

The wedding party and all of our guests were photographed beautifully in the traditional poses, and candidly. Judith and Carlos were always there at the right time and were never intrusive.
They were quietly "unseen", honoring all of our guest's requests, and photographed all of the details that are sometimes overlooked.

Judith is meticulous in her work, arriving early at the venue to become familiar with the site, the bridal party, and the course of the events. She is overwhelmingly kind, and sensitive to the needs of her subjects from the flower girls and ring bearers, to our elderly parents. Judith intuitively knows how to get glowing pictures of everyone.

After looking at her photographs I realized how many beautiful smiles, hugs, kisses, and dances I missed! We are forever grateful for Judith's talent, expertise, attentiveness and kindness.
The joy and beauty of our children's wedding day celebration are seen and felt in Judith Rae's Photography. This is by far our most precious gift.

Thoughtful, personal, beautiful photography

It was an absolute pleasure working with Judith, as well as Ahmet whom she worked with the day of our wedding. Judith is kind and immensely passionate about her work... and we truly felt so at ease and had so much fun taking our wedding photos. While we knew we'd look forward to the finished product, I'm not quite sure my camera shy groom and I expected to love and have fun with this photo taking 'process' as well.

And speaking of the finished product... Judith sent us a dozen or so sneak peak photos and they couldn't be more beautiful... our friends and family said they captured the joy of the day and us so perfectly, and have also raved about what an incredible eye Judith has... we ourselves can't stop looking at them.

Lastly, as a person Judith was so wonderful to get to know...she really took the time before the wedding to get to know us as individuals and as a couple, which led to us feeling relaxed on our wedding day in front of the camera, which contributed to the beautiful photos.

Wonderful photographer

My husband and I were married this past May. We hired Judith Rae to record our special day. Judith was not only the consummate professional; she was also kind and spent time with us to get a feel for what we wanted. Choosing the right person was extremely important to us, not only for the photographs but also because the photographer spends the greater part of the day with us. I would strongly encourage anyone interested in beautiful, natural photos that look like art and highlight the important details of the da, search Judith’s website. Judith’s photography appealed to me for its artistic qualities and its absolute beauty. I knew as soon as I saw her work, that she was perfect for our wedding photos. Sometimes things just work out in life. We were referred to Judith from a colleague of hers, when we had originally tried to book his services and he was unavailable for our date – thank goodness! We have to say that Judith is unequivocally one of our favorite people on this planet, who is so warm and positive, and very truly cares about her clients. She dealt with our nerves, our large and slightly disorganized family, and all the planning and follow up around the date with such grace and composure, and really made the day easy for us. The photos are absolutely phenomenal. In one frame at a time, she was able to somehow capture our best selves. In addition to the more formal portraits she was able to capture us naturally in the feel of the event, how we felt about each other, and fantastic natural photos of almost each of the guests. I literally can’t imagine what our wedding would have been like without her on our side, and frankly if we had known her before the event we probably would have invited her as a guest as well! She absolutely deserves every accolade she receives, as she’s truly the best.

Judith was an extreme pleasure to work with. Unfortunate circumstances with an illness in the family dictated that my wife and I get married eight months ahead of our initial wedding date. Since the very beginning working with Judith was an absolute pleasure. I (like many of you) was very picky when choosing my photographer. I can't express enough how happy I am that we chose Judith. She helped me from picking our outfits for the engagement shoot, to helping me organize timing for the wedding, and even guiding us with posing - she was fantastic from beginning to end. Her and her team were so professional and positive. During our engagement shoot it was pouring rain and windy and we still did the shoot, and she came, smile ear to ear without one complaint. The photos not only came out beautiful but are a keepsake for us for life. Let's talk about the wedding. I have a crazy (and I mean crazy!) big russian family, and Judith and her team were able to roll with it and conquered every moment with grace and professionalism through our day. Judith even stayed an extra hour later to make sure to capture our dessert/cutting the cake. Our photos speak for themselves. Every time I look at them I can't get enough - and we have received SO many compliments about our photos. The investment is SO worth it for the value of these photos! One of the biggest things our family is picky about are our family portraits under the chuppah. We managed to get a perfect photo with EACH family member - no blurry photos, no one blinking. Everything was flawless. I was truly speechless and these photos are keepsakes that I will hold on to for the rest of my life. I'm truly ecstatic with her work and will want to use her many more times again in the future. My photos do not even compare to so many others - the art is in the photographers eye! Not only were we incredibly happy with the quality of Judith’s pictures, but she was also unbelievably helpful and supportive throughout the pre-wedding process! She was constantly in touch throughout the wedding planning, able to recommend other quality vendors, and proactively coordinated with the venue, which was especially helpful in our case as we did not have a wedding planner to help coordinate. During the wedding, Judith and her team were professional and unobtrusive, capturing the wedding while keeping the guests (and ourselves!) at ease. (It is worth noting that our wedding was a traditional south Indian wedding, which she handled very well.) She effectively managed our large group of family and friends during the photos for family and friends, ensuring that we captured all the pictures requested efficiently and timely. Following the wedding, at our request she provided a sample of the pictures to send to relatives that could not attend the event. The final gallery of pictures was later presented beautifully on a website, categorized and easily viewable. While they were slightly delayed - it was the summer wedding season - she graciously provided us a discount to accommodate for the delay. All in all, we were tremendously impressed by her and her team and would definitely recommend her to others!

I was in my cousin's bridal party and I know she spent a great deal researching the photographer and she was super excited when she finally met Judith. She said they both knew she was "the one" and after seeing the gallery, I gotta say the proof is definitely in the pudding.
After seeing the pics I tried to jog my memory and honestly other than the formal introductions with Judith I can honestly say I didn't even realize she and her team were even there. I also was able to experience that day from different perspectives (so many gorgeous pictures). She even went with the bride/groom's crazy idea to take pics in the NYC subway.
After seeing the beautiful images it truly made my eyes water up. Judith was truly able to capture and convey the love and emotions from both the bride and groom as well.
I would def recommend Judith to anyone, she will definitely not disappoint.

It was a true pleasure working with the passionate, beautiful and amazingly talented Judith Rae! We could not be any happier with our whole Judith Experience.

After countless weeks, days, and hours of researching different wedding magazines, websites and blogs, calling and emailing more than 100 photographers I came across Judith Rae in New York Magazine. I checked out her website and voila, I was hooked! I went through all her wedding and engagement portfolios and was immediately drawn to the candid emotion she captivates in her photos. I wrote her a super hyped email and soon enough received a phone call. We met weeks later and that's when WE knew she was the one!

Our Engagement pictures were STUNNING! Even though we felt a bit shy; she managed to make us feel super comfortable! She delivered cool candid warm unique photos. Complete Photo GENIUS!!

Our Wedding Day was unbelievable! Judith and her assistant Jeremiah were AMAZING! We honestly forgot they were there! They were so professional, kind and super cool!

When we received our photo gallery we relived each second of our wedding day all over again! We are in Love with every single shot. The photos are vibrant, candid, elegant, COOL and simply beautiful! The day was captivated flawlessly!

A huge request we expressed to Judith was to take pictures on the subway after our NYC Church Ceremony. The city on a Saturday afternoon on a summer day can be very tricky with the subway and although she was concerned about the time and location logistics' she did it! Our parents and entire bridal party were there! We are in total bliss with how AWESOME and AMAZING the photos came out. Very New York, Very US.

Judith is lovely. She pays great attention to detail and is very passionate about her work. Every time we look at our photos it takes us back to that magical moment; a true eye delicacy! She truly knows how to tell a beautiful story through her art and for that we will be eternally grateful!

It is hard to even express how wonderful Judith, was and how lucky we feel to have had her as our photographer for our wedding. The minute we met Judith we were blown away by how passionate she is about her work, and by how warm and kind she is! She takes such an interest in the details of the wedding, looks into the venue ahead of the time so that she can offer advice about locations for the best pictures, and coordinates with ease with the other vendors. She has a wealth of knowledge about weddings and vendors, and even helped us pick out a style of bouquet and an amazing videographer! On the day of the wedding, Judith's calm demeanor put us and our bridal party at ease. Judith joined us in the limo on the ride to the venue, and through all the twists and turns and an extra long ride due to the driver going the wrong way (Judith's humor and calm during this time was a huge help!), Judith managed to capture the emotions and anticipation of what was to come in beautiful candid pictures. When we arrived at the venue on this snowy December day, Judith had an idea to go outside with the bridal party to take pictures on the snow covered grounds. Despite the cold, we completely trusted that it would be worth it and all went outside and good thing we did, because the winter wonderland theme came to life and these were the most beautiful pictures I have ever seen. Throughout the day Judith got to know the family and made everyone so comfortable, especially those of us who tend to be camera shy! She also came to the rescue on several occasions- running back into the hotel for the veil that had somehow been forgotten, jumping in to help when my necklace wasn't clasping right, and just being there to help calm nerves. Judith managed to be present to capture tons of amazing moments, while simultaneously blending in to the point where people said that they hardly noticed we had a photographer! Judith is more than a brilliant photographer..we truly consider her a new friend.

Judith did such an amazing job capturing the mood, spirit and excitement of our event. Unlike some photographers, she didn't do much posing or direction, she allowed us to be completely natural and captured every important moment and look. Judith and her team are amazing! I spent so much time and energy perfecting every detail of my special day, and I had hoped for that one picture that would perfectly encapsulate the day for me, and help me remember it for years to come. I’m happy to report that I don’t just have one of these, I have countless. Even 8 months after my wedding, I'm still trying to narrow down my favorites to 200!

These aren't your cheesy cookie cutter pictures, where you're told to look longingly into each other’s eyes for the camera. Judith and her team are so good; they'll capture those perfect moments between you and your significant other, even when you think no one is looking. Everything from the posed to the candid shots were perfectly reflective of our personalities and what we were feeling that day.

Judith is so incredibly personable and has impeccable attention to detail. She pre-viewed the venue and mapped out the best places to take pictures. Further, she and her colleagues were unobtrusive on the day of.

In 2011, my husband and I planned our destination wedding at The Viceroy hotel in Anguilla. Most of the vendors we used were local, but the photographer was something incredibly important to us and we knew we would need to bring someone down from NYC if we wanted really special photos. A friend of ours recommended that we reach out to Judith as she had extensive experience with destination weddings. After seeing Judith's outstanding portfolio of work and experiencing her calm demeanor, we felt confident that we wanted her to capture our wedding day. Judith did not disappoint us in the slightest. Judith was such a pleasure, with her zen energy, to have photograph us in Anguilla. When we returned and received our photos, my husband and I were blown away. She not only was able to capture the true beauty of Anguilla in our photos, but her work was incredibly creative. It's difficult to find a photographer who has a ability to deviate from the usual staged shots. Judith does it with ease. I highly recommend Judith for your wedding, local or destination!

I cannot express enough how happy I was with the pictures of my sister's wedding. It was very important to me as the matron of honor to have the photographer capture the wedding in a way that I know my sister would want. The pictures were tasteful, elegant, and truly beautiful. Judith and her staff also were excellent in getting the children(6 of them ranging in the ages 3-11) in the wedding to smile and enjoy taking the shots. They worked wonders with the kids. She did a spectacular job. She is extremely professional and didn't take away from the wedding. Judith Rae is a fabulous photographer. Judith photographed a mother-daughter trip for me. She exhibited her versatility as a photopher as she captured in the photos the fun we had on our trip, and the great time we had in New York.

Judith’s level of professionalism, attention to detail, and ability to capture every moment of our wedding without being invasive was second to none. Judith is incredibly prepared. She met us prior to our wedding to discuss our expectations. At this initial meeting, we immediately developed a comfort level with both Judith and her portfolio of work. Judith also visited our venue on multiple occasions in an effort to further prepare and to understand the lighting needs. She also worked closely with our wedding planner to make sure the day was seamless. Prior to our wedding ceremony, Judith introduced herself to our family and friends, which was instrumental when she had to give direction. Judith worked around our needs and the needs of our families. She never seemed frustrated with our competing “photographers” (a.k.a family members & friends.:) She didn’t produce cookie-cutter portraits; all of the photos (candids, actions shots, & detail shots) were beautiful and really captured the day. I am still trying to narrow down my “favorites” to 200 images for the album; I am stuck at 350 pictures...and that required a tremendous amount of effort.

The job Judith and her assistants did was absolutely phenomenal and surpassed our expectations! Judith is friendly, calming, and reassuring. She makes you feel like she is lucky to be part of your big day. I can't even count how many compliments I received from family and friends.

Words cannot express how happy my husband and I are with the pictures of our wedding! Judith is a delightful person, very talented and extremely professional. My husband and I are overworked professionals in a long distance relationship with massive time constraints. We got married in the NY tristate area but neither of us live there. Judith handled this flawlessly: she was respectful of our jobs and our time, Skyping as necessary, and even traveled to my husband's city for our engagement shoot because it's where we fell in love. She is, first and foremost, an artist who takes beautiful photographs. She is also a talented coach: she was able to draw my shy husband out of his shell, get us both comfortable with the wedding spotlight, and capture us and our love. She delivered exactly what we requested: gorgeous, high quality photos of the "real us" in a journalistic style with some posed portraits and details. Judith and her assistant simultaneously provided support for my husband and me on our wedding day while also blending into the background. Judith worked perfectly with our videographer, our families, our wedding consultant and the church and venue representatives. One of the greatest pleasures of working with Judith is that she loves her job. She made us all feel celebrated. She is extremely calm and kind, can punt when things don't go as planned, stays tightly on schedule, and she goes the extra mile- even staying late at our rehearsal dinner when the event was running behind. Judith Rae is a photographer extraordinaire! She is extremely professional,yet incredibly warm and friendly. captures the expected and unexpected. She's always there,but you forget she's there. That is not true with other photographers. I was just at a wedding where the the photographer seemed to interupt the bride walking down the aisle. not so with Judith! She put everyone she photographed at ease. and the results were incredible. WOW! Her incredible photos leave us with such beautiul memories.

In looking for photographers, my (now) husband and I were looking for a more editorial approach versus traditional photographer. While that is VERY popular now, it was less so in 2010 and a little harder to find. Judith was the 3rd photographer we met with and I knew at that moment, we had found out photographer. Her warmth, friendliness, and passionate approach to photography sold us immediately, and we did not regret it! We did an engagement shoot before our wedding and absolutely loved how the pictures turned out. On the day of the wedding, Judith and her 2nd photographer showed up and suggested we go off site for the pre-ceremony pics. Though not in the plans, we went along and ended up down the street at a gorgeous little park. Judith really takes the time to do her homework, scout locations, and provide recommendations that really suit the couple. I was more than pleased with the final pictures and in fact, had a REALLY hard time narrowing down to the ones that ended up in our album. I highly recommend Judith and her team!

Judith Rae did an amazing job for my wife and I. Judith is terrific with a camera. Her photographs of our wedding celebration are intimate, unique and beautiful.
Some of the images are so gorgeous that they could be in a museum.

Judith is also very personable and professional. She arrived early, knew exactly how to direct us and made things easy and fun.

We like her so much; in fact, my wife and I recently hired Judith for another event.

We absolutely cannot say too many wonderful things about Judith Rae!!! Working with her far exceeded our expectations. Her style manages to capture candid touching/funny/tender moments, and her posed shots were beautiful as well. We loved working with her as she was willing to work with our requests and yet still had fantastic judgment as to what shots would look the best. Judith and her staff were completely unobtrusive at our wedding. Taking pictures before and during the wedding was a pleasure; she was such a calm and relaxing presence. During the wedding and reception, she never interrupted; instead she used her excellent judgment to take wonderful natural shots that were unposed and genuine: The photos are fantastic; we couldn’t have asked for a more perfect experience! We would, and intend to, recommend Judith to all our friends without any reservations whatsoever.

We hired Judith for our wedding in July of 2011 and my friends and family are STILL talking about how amazing our wedding photos are! When selecting a photographer I really wanted someone who specialized in candid shots; Judith and her team accomplished this beautifully. She has such a great eye and captured so many little moments that I think most would have overlooked. Not only do I love, love her style but she was fantastic to work with throughout the planning process and has such a pleasant disposition! I have recommended her many times to friends and would definitely hire her again in the future. Cannot praise Judith Rae enough!

Judith covered both my wedding and an engagement shoot and to get right to the point, she was extraordinary. She approaches wedding photography as if she's telling a story, so expect to get many natural, candid shots, but she will certainly give you any posed shots you would like as well. In fact when she did mine, I found her to be VERY attentive to detail, and it really showed in the end result.
Additionally, Judith was the consummate professional at all times, plus her wonderful personality really makes you and your guests comfortable. She wasn't intrusive or noticeable at all. But most importantly, she captured every moment, especially the brief ones I really wanted to have - Our first kiss, the dip at the end of our dance, feeding each other cake, & even the moment when I got to the altar and my hubby whispered in my ear that I looked beautiful. I generally just love her compositions; they each possess such great sophistication, clarity, and freshness (for lack of a better word!) I can honestly say that I do not have any friends with wedding photography as beautiful as mine.
And finally, I'd like to mention that Judith is both trustworthy and reliable, because this is VERY important. I heard so many horror stories about photographers from my friends. She did everything (and more) and I never worried once with her. That, in itself, was worth every cent!
I’d hire her again in a heartbeat. That says it all.

Judith Rae and her team did an amazing job with the photography for our wedding day in New York City. She made me and my husband feel completely at ease and comfortable, even though we are not accustomed to taking professional photographs.

It was extremely helpful that we had an engagement shoot in Central Park about a month before the wedding and we had met her in person a couple times before the big day to get to know each other. Judith is very talented and has a clear vision of how to tell your story and to document your wedding day; however, she is also very open to hear ideas for pictures from her clients. We could tell that photography is Judith's passion and not just a job.

We highly recommed Judith Rae and hope that we get to work with her again for other special events!

My husband and I used Judith Rae Photography for our wedding. She was recommended to us by our lovely wedding planners at DM Events and they could not have paired us with a better match. Judith and I got along from the start. She came off very easy going, welcoming and friendly. I think it is important to hit it off with your photographer right away and feel comfortable with them since they will be documenting one of the biggest days of you and you significant others lives.

A month before the big day we met with Judith to do an engagement shoot. We went to Coney Island and captured some great shots on the boardwalk, the beach and the amusement park. My husband was hesitant about this "engagement shoot" since he isn't all about the camera but in the end Judith made it so much fun and so comfortable that to this day he says how great of a time he had.

On the day of our wedding her and her second shooter captured every moment perfectly from hair and makeup, to the boys hanging out in the suite before the wedding, to the first look and then the ceremony and reception. They photographed every detail of our wedding from décor, details, and dresses to family and friends having an amazing time and captured once in a lifetime emotions in every shot.

Throughout the entire procees Judith was profesional, flexable and easy to communicate with. She was open minded and helpful whenever I went into Bride mode and had any questions or concerns. She worked with the budget we gave her and was always a plessure to work with!
Looking back on the photos it is just like reliving the whole day over again. Being the bride and groom, the day goes by SO incredibly fast and it is hard to remember and cherish every moment when you are being pulled in 100 different directions. The saying a photo says 1000 words couldn’t be more true when it comes to Judith Raes work.

Judith Rae was not only the photographer for our wedding, but also for our engagement and the birth announcement of our daughter. In a word, she is AWESOME! She manages to capture things that most people don't even see. Her perspective is unique and intrigueing. The comments I heard most from my guests were that they hardly knew she was there and when they were aware of her taking a picture, they were utterly impressed with her professionalism. I would absolutely recommend Judith Rae for any of your photography needs.

Judith is an extremely talented, thorough, & dependable wedding photographer.

We had our wedding at 620 LOFT and GARDEN in NYC and though Judith
knew of the venue, she went the extra step of doing some preliminary leg
work in order to familiarize herself before the big day. As a result
we ended up with some very special shots.

Judith also took a lot of time to listen to our specific requests, namely that
we wanted a lot of candid shots. To this end she was able to shoot off an
amazing array of super natural shots that wowed us.

Wedding photography can be a very personal thing. Many may possess
technical shooting skills but not many wedding photographers can deliver
that something on your big day. We found that something special in Judith.
Judith made us feel very comfortable. On a personal level, we found her
very warm and sweet, which made taking direction from her on that big
day that much less stressful.

We would highly recommend her to anybody! We couldn't be happier with our pictures.

We hired Judith for our Wedding in April 2010. It was an odd request for her as it was a very simple City Hall Wedding with 10 people in attendance, yet we didn't want to compromise on the photography.
Judith was recommended to us by a friend and I am so glad she was. Not only did she work with us in building a suitable package for a very small Wedding but the pictures were incredible! They had spent the time scouting out the best areas beforehand to take the best pictures so we didn't waste any time during the big day.
All of our friends and family still comment on how amazing our pictures are and look like they are advertisement prints. We absolutely LOVED Judith and her professionalism, along with her excellent creative talent! We would recommend her with full muster! She was very discreet and we always look back at the pictures with such fond memories and awe

We can’t say enough good things about Judith Rae. To begin with, she is a lovely person – warm, kind, thoughtful, a calming but organized presence during a very busy day. Beyond that, she is an incredibly talented photographer who brings an artist’s eye to what might otherwise be fairly standard wedding photographs.
Judith spent lots of time before the wedding talking to us about what kind of photos we wanted. We reviewed her previous work and selected things we liked and hoped to emulate so she had a good idea of exactly what we wanted. In fact, the reason we selected her over other photographers was her unique perspective and ability to capture compelling candid shots that we found so much more interesting than standard posed arrangements. Her work looks like it belongs on a gallery wall rather than in a coffee table wedding album.
We spent more time together during an engagement shoot, which was a great way to get comfortable being photographed so we didn’t have to waste time on our wedding day adjusting to that awkward feeling of posing. A few weeks before the wedding, we talked through the schedule – key places we wanted to visit, images we wanted to capture, timing – and had a very thorough itinerary (which we actually stuck to) on our wedding day. Judith scouted out all locations beforehand so she understood key nuances, especially lighting, before our wedding day.
The result of this was hundreds of gorgeous photos – posed, candid, people, places, action, quiet moments. We have been struggling for months to select only a few to feature in our wedding album. Bottom line: we couldn’t have been happier with Judith and would highly recommend her to anyone looking to capture their wedding day on film.
