Joy Ross and Style It Salon did a fabulous job for my wedding hair and makeup as well as my bridal party. I was planning a destination wedding from New York, and Joy did everything she could to reassure me and ease my concerns. She made me feel so comfortable during my trial, and it was like we had known each other for years! My hair was just what I wanted and my makeup looked natural and light. Exactly the look I was going for given it was a beach ceremony. Joy was so easy to work with, flexible, made helpful suggestions, and was so responsive throughout the whole process. Joy is awesome!! She is amazingly talented and fun to work with. She listened to my ideas and also offered her professional opinion. She suggested an updo for my wedding day and I went with her suggestion. I am so glad I did! My hair looked great the entire night! Denise did my make up and it looked fantastic! I planned a destination wedding to Charleston, SC for my wedding day. Being from out of town, I had to do an intense search for a stylist and makeup artist. Through many web sites and reading many reviews, I narrowed my search and selected Style It Salon in Bluffton. I just want to say that my decision was also based on experience and price. Many of the competitors were much more expensive and some were just too inexperienced. You have to be quite savvy when selecting a person who is going to either make or break the most important day of your life! I made a pre-planning trip to Bluffton to meet with Joy and her staff. Immediately she made me and my attendants feel welcome and relaxed. I am not a fashionista and I am not up on the latest trends but Joy sat down with me and discussed different looks to compliment my headpiece. She went to work and with a few tweeks, she nailed my look and personality. I felt so much more confident after this visit. Having to make repeat calls to Joy to go over plans was effortless. She returned my calls promptly and I never waited more than a day for her to return my calls. You can tell that she has done weddings for a long time. She had so many ideas for me that I never thought of! On my wedding day, Joy and her team were right on time and got right to work. Happy, pleasant, and a great tension breaker is her demeanor. Oh, was it ever humid on this day. Let me just add, that the makeup artist did not put anything on our faces that we weren't comfortable with. We looked natural but very beautiful. I feared that our hair and makeup would not hold up for all of the photo's but we looked just as good walking down the aisle as we did saying good bye to all of our guests. I can't thank Joy and her team enough for making my wedding day easy and stress free. I told everyone about her and how professional she was. I just wish I lived closer so that I could go to Joy on a regular basis. Thanks Joy !!! <3 <3

Joy is the best!!!!. My bridal party looked amazing and my hair and makeup were perfect, - exactly as I'd requested. Plus, my hair and make up lasted all day even after some outdoor photos in the blazing heat. I did shop the competition but Joy had the most experience so she was definitely worth the price. Joy is so talented and funny - but most of all she was so patient and accommodating with my crazy crew of bridesmaids who were a bit much to handle. She is a true professional.

Joy was great to work with for my wedding. I have fine, thin hair, and wanted a classic look such as a French twist. I was amazed at her ability to work with my hair to create a "modern" version of a French twist. She was prompt, personable and flexible to blow out my daughter's hair at the last minute. I would not hesitate to book another appointment! She exceeded my expectations!

Joy is amazing!! She goes above and beyond not only on the day of the wedding but also for the trial before hand. She was patient and willing to work with my indecisiveness as we tried over 7 different styles. She didn't stop until we found the perfect one! Not to mention she did a second trial a few days before the wedding and even added highlights to my hair for the first time! She suggested them a few weeks before and they were the PEREFCT addition to my hair. She was prompt on wedding day and came ready to WORK. All of my bridesmaids really enjoyed working with her and her staff. They were quick, professional, and was able to give every girl what they wanted. I was stunned when I saw my hair after Joy finished, exactly what I envisioned! I would highly recommend her for your big day! And also for highlights:) Thank you Joy!

Joy and her daughter were so wonderful to work with for my big day! Joy was extremely professional and yet not stiff where I felt like I couldn't talk to her. It was nice to connect with her before the big day for the trial which gave me a wonderful idea of how I was going to look on the big day. Joy answered all of my emails super quickly or answered my phone calls when I had last minute questions! She was able to come to Edisto to complete my look and also completed our bridesmaids hair and makeup!

On the day of the event, Joy arrived when she said she was going to and got everyone done when she said she would. My hair looks AMAZING and my makeup was perfect and exactly how I described!

I am so thankful to have gone with Joy and her daughter for my big day as she listened and make sure myself and my bridesmaids were 100% happy!

Joy is so amazing. She was very responsive to all of my emails and typically replied within 1 day. I had a hair style figured out and drove to HHI for the final preparations about 1 month prior. She did the test run and I loved it. After doing some last minute searching, I saw a hair style I wanted to showcase the length of my hair. I sent her a picture and she did it perfectly on my wedding day. My make-up was wonderful because it stayed all day and was still on the morning after... best of all I didn't look fake and I just looked like an enhanced version of myself. My hair and make-up made it through a July 8 wedding right off of the beach! I can't say enough great things about Joy!

I had Joy do my hair and makeup for my wedding on Daufuskie Island. She was awesome to work with, as she was very accommodating to my needs and open to what I wanted to have. I would highly recommend her to others both as a private stylist and for events/weddings. Using StyleItSalon was great value, and they were willing to come over to Daufuskie to ensure that everything was prepared for my wedding day. Joy was a delight to work with! Having planned a destination wedding, she made me feel so relaxed from the moment we began our communication. I had the privilege of meeting her on a pre-planning visit and immediately felt calm and at ease that she was the one for us! I have extremely curly hair, which can be difficult to manage at times and she did a wonderful job of making my hair look gorgeous. Despite a power outage as we were getting ready, and high winds for our beach ceremony, Joy did a phenomenal job of keeping all nerves down and keeping our hair in place! We were all thrilled with the beautiful detail she gave to each of us. Her makeup artist also did an excellent job of keeping natural tones for each of us, as well as accenting certain features to have each one of us look natural and not overdone. My husband and I own Eleven Courses Catering in Maryland and were in town filming a show for HGTV and had Joy to do my hair and make-up for four consecutive days. Some days she had to recreate the exact same look to match the day before. And it was spot on. She did an amazing job. Both my hair and make-up stayed put for long 12 hour days and through the heat and wind. I loved how easy it was to communicate with her and her to understand the vision I had for the different looks she created for me!

I definitely felt like I got to know her after several days of working together. Her attitude is so refreshing and she is so fun to work with - when I back in the Bluffton/Hilton Head area, I will absolutely be giving her a call.

I couldn't recommend Joy more!!

Joy did all the hair and makeup for me, the bridal party, the mothers, and grandmothers. She did a great job! Our makeup and hair lasted all night and looked fantastic. I surprised it lasted so well even when I was sweating in my heavy, hot dress.

If you live in the area or are traveling to the Beaufort, Bluffton, Hilton Head or Savannah area and are in need of a hair stylist and makeup artist you need to hire Joy Ross!!!!! I got married on October 25th which was a Sunday and she went out of her way to make sure I was happy and everything was perfect. My dry run with her was also very pleasurable and when I decided to have her cut and color my hair at the last minute she was more than willing to do so. I have actually changed hair dressers after having her do my hair. Your special occasion should be perfect and you shouldn't have to worry about anything. This is what Joy does!! I can't wait to go back to her on a regular basis.

I got married at a hotel in Hilton Head and was going to use their spa/make up service at first, I even had my test make-up and hair appointment. Then the Spa cancelled on me and I found Joy. Joy turned out to be such a great find- her prices are very good, she is flexible, friendly and does beautiful hair styles and make up.
We had a test appointment a few days before the wedding and everything looked wonderful. The day of the wedding she arrived on time and did hair and make up for my bridesmaids, my mother and mother-in-law and myself. Everybody loved it! She was very good about keeping everybody on schedule.
My hair and make up results are simply stunning-and along with the good price and Joy's fun and friendly personality- book her for your wedding!

Joy Ross was just what I was looking for on my wedding day- a flexible stylist who knows how to do modern hairstyles for an affordable price! Joy and her assistant came to my wedding suite the day of my wedding and did multiple girls hair in a very reasonable amount of time. They were fun and made us all feel very comfortable, doing each hairstyle until each one LOVED (not liked!) their style! She invited me to her cute and quaint salon for a trial and even then was willing to do my hair several times over until we had it "perfect" so not to worry on wedding day. After having a bad experience with a trial at another salon and then finding Joy, I would say it was fate---THANKS Joy!!!

Joy is amazing! The week of my wedding, she did highlights for me to make my hair style show better (dark hair + braids = not very visible) and cut my [then] fiances hair. Both looked great! For the wedding, she came to my Villa and did my hair and my bridesmaids hair and they all looked perfect and stayed all night long, even in the crazy June Hilton Head heat/humidity. Joy was recommended to me by an acquaintance, as I had just moved to the area and didn't have anyone for hair and makeup. Joy was amazing! Professional, yet relaxed. I went to her salon for my trial not having much of an idea what I wanted, she used the minimal input I gave and did exactly what I wanted (without knowing that's what I wanted!) On the day of my wedding Joy came to me on Fripp Island which was so convenient for me. She also did my mom's hair, a late addition to the plan, with no issue - so easy and flexible. My mom loved her hair! Joy was easy to contact and fast with all responses. She offered to pick up anything I needed on her way out to Fripp! She was friendly, pleasant and amazing at what she does. I can't say enough about Joy. She made sure I was completely happy and satisfied with her work, asking if anything needed changed. Everything was perfect! I had checked with many other salons and Joy's prices were by far the best. Joy Ross offers the whole package - fabulous work, great value and an amazing lady to spend some time with!!

Joy was recommended by a family friend who is local to Bluffton since I was coming from out of state and I was extremely happy with my decision! Communication was easy via email, phone or text and my trial run of both hair and make-up was great. Her knowledge and flexibility with my planning was also helpful. We discussed hairstyles and she did just what I suggested from some photos I had found, especially since I was so laid back - it was so simple! Also having her meet me at the home where we held our wedding was a huge relief and so easy for planning. Since I was the only one having hair/makeup services it was a breeze and I was so glamorous for our special day. If you're local or coming out of the area for a destination I would definitely give Joy a call to see if she fits your wedding needs!

It was a pleasure to work with Joy. It was easy to communicate with Joy via email, text, and phone. She made me look like myself, but the best version of myself. She did a great job with all the hair and make up for me and my 5 bridesmaids. Even though everyone had different skin tones, all the girls looked natural and the look flowed well. Everyone's hair and make up held up well, even after being in the wind and on the dance floor. She was also well respected by my wedding planner, which made me even more confident in her. She was very friendly to all the girls and our little flower girl. Highly recommend her to anyone.

Joy was an absolute dream! she is a seasoned professional that knows how to handle any situation with style and grace. She ended up meeting me halfway for my trail appointment since i had so much going on & very little time to do it. She also jumps into action when a problem arises, my matron of honor accentally left my veil in the hotel room, so 30 min before i walked down the aisle Joy jumped into her car, found the veil & had it perfectly placed on my head as if nothing ever happen. she is not only a great make up artist but a fabulous lady. She knows how to make you feel like a princess and she truley cares about the well being of her brides.

Joy was great! I got married on the warmest and longest day of the year - but my hair and makeup withstood the elements!! Joy did hair and makeup for my mom and me in my hotel room and we had such a great time! Meeting with Joy for the "test run" was so much fun and the end result (my wedding makeup and hair) was fabulous! I couldn't have asked for a better result.

I called Joy less than a week before my wedding and she was very pleasant and eager to accommodate me. I live a few hours away, but Joy was even able to fit me in a for a hair and makeup trial the day before the wedding. For both the trial and the wedding day Joy was lightning fast and did a great job...a rare combination! Being able to have your hairstylist come to you on the day of your wedding is a huge relief as well. Highly recommend using Joy for hair and makeup on your wedding day...particularly if you're an out of town bride!

Joy was amazing!!! She is so friendly and does such an great job! I had a friend recommend her and I think I owe my friend big time! I got married on the beach at Fripp Island Resort and Joy came all the way out to me, which was huge! Definitely helped in reducing any of my stress. My hair stayed exactly as she did it all night! Which is big for me since my hair doesn't normally do that.. She also did a great job on all of my bridesmaids and my mom :) All of my girls loved her too! I highly recommend using Joy for any upcoming events you may have.

A wedding is a very special event and you need a team of professionals to pull it all together. You plan, you save, you change your mind, and you plan again. When the big day finally arrives some things just don’t happen exactly the way you plan. However some wonderful things that you never planned do happen. For me one of the wonderful things that happen is I met Joy Ross. Joy is amazing!! Even with last minute changes (and we had several) Joy stayed calm, professional, and made each member of my wedding party feel relaxed, important, and of course beautiful!! Joy did my hair and makeup for our beach wedding in Hilton Head, SC on September 5,2014. She did a wonderful job and I felt so beautiful for my special day because of her! I was coming to Hilton Head from out of town and she was super flexible to schedule my practice consultation and the day of my wedding she came to my location which made it easy for me. She brought all of her own supplies which was all included. She was very creative with my hair coming up with an up-do that I could have never imagined for myself. Her recommendations and expertise for my hair and makeup were spot!

I selected Joy Ross to do my hair and make-up for my 10th Wedding Anniversary where we going to actually renew our vows. It was a casual beach vow renewal with a oceanfront reception. I simply told Joy what I was looking for and she gave me just that. It was in August so I needed something that would last through the heat and the wind. My hair and make-up turned out flawlessly. Joy was a pleasure to have as my hair and make up stylist! She was highly recommended and I liked that she was able to do a natural looking style for my wedding. I was married in July in HHI on the beach (=hot and humid!) and my hair and makeup looked great through all of that. Joy from Style it Salon was so great to work with! She is so accommodating and really affordable. She came to our hotel the day of the wedding to do my bridesmaids hair and makeup which many salons do not offer for a reasonable price in the HHI area. She made the girls look absolutely beautiful with their hair and makeup. She arrived on time and worked within our time frame so that we were ready to go when our shuttle arrived for the ceremony. She is very personable and so easy to interact with. She is highly recommended by many of the locals in the HHI area and after the wedding I truly understand why. I highly recommend her for hair and makeup for your wedding!

Joy has the hands of an artist and did such amazing work on me, my bridesmaids, and the moms. And on top of that she is just an absolute sweetheart who became a friend in the process. I live in California and can't wait to go back next year to see her! She does hair and makeup so perfectly and also so quickly, fitting in a ton of people in a short amount of time so we could actually all enjoy the day together instead of feeling rushed. She's just awesome, and her prices are so reasonable and she even did a second free dry-run for me when I decided to change my hair style the week before the wedding. My mom and I called a ton of places in the Hilton Head/Savannah/Bluffton area, and knew immediately when speaking to Joy that she was the one. She treats you like a friend instead of a client. I wish I could bring her to California with me, but am excited for future (lucky!) brides to get her help on their special day!

I was about two months out from my wedding, and after dealing with large salons that took down my information but never got back to me, I really didn’t know what I was going to do! Joy was introduced to me by a wedding planner who gave Joy a glowing testimonial, and we connected very well from the start. She was able to accommodate my hectic schedule by meeting me in the evening (well after normal salon hours!) and in the true spirit of southern hospitality even offered me a glass of wine when I arrived. :)

Now, I am hair and make-up illiterate, but Joy was able to look at a single picture and recreate the look I wanted in minutes. She works very fast, but that is a good thing! Even though she had another big wedding to do hair and make-up for the morning of my wedding, she told me that she would be at my wedding venue at 2 PM to take care of me and my bridesmaids. When I arrived a few minutes after 2, Joy was already all set up and one of my bridesmaids already had her updo finished and was looking very chic!

We were all finished in plenty of time for pictures, and through the humidity, the rain immediately following the ceremony, and a whole lot of dancing, everyone’s hair stayed up. Joy also did my make-up and when I saw myself in a mirror around midnight (the ceremony was at 5), I couldn’t believe how great everything still looked. One of my guests even commented that it must be the magic of being a bride, keeping my make-up looking so perfect! I wish I could take credit, but it was 100% Joy’s efforts that made my special day.

About 6 weeks before my destination wedding, my hairstylist bailed on me. I e-mailed several salons and Joy was the first to respond. Due to the fact that she had me sign a contract (there was no doubt that she would bail as well) and her great reviews, I decided to give her a try. Joy and her daughter, Kendra took all the stress from me! They were fabulous, professional and of course, talented. Joy includes a trial for the bride in her price, which was awesome. Once I met her for my trial, I knew wedding day would be a breeze. Joy and Kendra were able to do hair and makeup for myself, my mother, and my 2 bridesmaids with plenty of time to spare, ON LOCATION, and everyone was thrilled! I would hire her again in a second and recommend her to anyone!!

I am living on Hilton Head, and was while planning my wedding here and asked around for several stylist suggestions. I wanted someone who would come to me on the day of, and someone who could do make up. Joy Ross was an obvious suggestion from many of my local co-workers. She includes a hair trial in all of her pricing, and when I went for mine, she actually did my hair 3 separate times to make sure it was what I had in mind. We discussed what I was going for in the makeup, and tried several different lashes to achieve the eyes I had in mind. Throughout the trial she took notes and photos for the day of. On wedding day, Joy was prompt and prepared; she set up very quickly and made everyone feel at ease. My sister is very opinionated, my maid of honor has short thin hair, my other bridesmaid has the worst split ends known to man-kind and I have A LOT of long thick wavy hair, Joy was able to make all our styles look cohesive and beautiful. My mother is very picky about her makeup and looked and felt amazing when Joy was done with her. All of our hair stayed in all night and the makeup was still flawless after the hours of tears and sweat. When you are working with Joy, she is relaxed, interested and fun loving, but don’t get me wrong, she likes people to be ready. For my trial, I had pictures of my dress, hair piece and ideas of what I wanted going in, and on the day of, I had my bridesmaids do the same. If you or your bridesmaids are notoriously late, plan ahead or it will cost you. Fortunately, that is not in my personality and we were ready to go. I would highly recommend Joy to anyone looking for a professional at-home experience where you don’t have to worry about the results.

Joy was amazing! She was very flexible while scheduling my trial appointment, which was very important. It went a long way toward making me feel at ease about hair and makeup on my wedding day. After meeting Joy, I knew that this was one thing I did not have to worry about on my day. She did hair and makeup for myself and my mother, who was also my matron of honor. Joy was a very professional and helpful both leading up to my wedding day and the day of my wedding. From the moment you meet Joy, she feels like family. Being a wedding planner myself, that was very important to me. I needed to love and trust my vendors, and Joy was wonderful. Joy's professionalism and quality of work are amazing. I am a wedding planner in Virginia so I was very particular when choosing my vendors, but Joy instantly made me feel comfortable. During the planning of my destination wedding I kept everything organized in a binder which at the end was overflowing with magazine clippings of everything that I wanted to make my day perfect. The only clipping I never found was the one that featured my hair... Joy was so great with my bridesmaids, and together they picked the perfect style. I LOVE, love that I kept it down and she styled it so perfectly with the hair pin I had, all my photos look like me, only much prettier!!! The amount of makeup was also perfect, as I am a mascara and lip gloss girl. My mom also loved her style and looked amazing! Joy was awesome and I would recommend her to everyone!

Joy did hair for me, a couple friends, my mother, mother in law, and sister in law. Everyone was pleased with the outcome and Joy was very friendly, professional, and quick. She was flexible in scheduling a dry run for 2 days before the wedding since I was from out of town. She also listened to what I wanted, which was to wear my hair in loose curls. She warned me the humid August weather might make it difficult but she went with my choice and put in just the right products both during the dry run and on the day of the wedding to keep my hair in place but still nice and soft. Joy's assistant did our makeup, was also very pleasant to work with. Although the makeup looked a little bit heavy up close on me and my mom since we're pretty fair-skinned and it was more makeup than we usually wear, it looks great and not overdone at all in our pictures.
I'm very glad I found Joy on weddingwire and would definitely recommend her!

Joy and Brittany did a fabulous job with hair and makeup for my wedding on Hilton Head. Joy works quickly and during the trial that made me a bit nervous, but she listened to what I liked and what I wanted to change and incorporated my feedback to improve both my hair and makeup. On the big day, she arrived on time, set up quickly and put everyone at ease with her casual, comfortable manner. Everyone's styles and makeup looked great, across a variety of hair types and lengths. Brittany did a tremendous job with makeup for everyone - she is very talented! Joy and her team were amazing for my wedding day. We had to reschedule our wedding in 19 days from Puerto Rico to Hilton Head Island due to Hurricane Maria. Joy was so accommodating and responsive. She fit me in for a hair/makeup trial and brought in a team to help with all my bridesmaids. She had a wedding before mine on the same day and was running slightly late, but she kept in contact the entire time and her team was on-site and able to get everything ready so that my hair/makeup was complete in time. I would highly recommend her. I typically do not like my hair in an undo and was VERY nervous about this for my wedding day, but I could not possibly be happier with how it looked. I have tried to include photos with this review to showcase what her work looks like.

Joy did an absolute great job on my hair and makeup. She was also the most reasonably priced stylist in town. My trial run was included in the price and on the wedding day my hair and makeup looked exactly the way she did it at my trial. My hair and makeup also lasted the entire day, even with the wind and heat. Joy was always prompt about responding and was flexible on the wedding day.

I had an incredibly difficult time finding a hair and makeup vendor that I felt comfortable working with. Many of the vendors were either insanely expensive, required a minimum number of people, or seemed unaccommodating. Then I thankfully met Joy! From our first communication, Joy put me at ease and seemed very laid back, yet happy to have the opportunity to work with me. Her prices were super reasonable and it made me feel very happy that she offered, actually preferred, to come to me on the day of the wedding! She has been in the business for many years and her confidence shows in her efficient, yet beautiful services. Joy is not your typical stuffy/pretentious hair and makeup vendor. She is definitely honest and genuine and also encourages the same from you, which makes her great to work with - I had no problems asking her to adjust details on the day of the wedding. Oh and in a last minute anxious request to her, she ran out and purchased waterproof mascara, to use especially on me! My hair and makeup looked beautiful on the day of the wedding. I don't think my hair moved at all despite windy conditions and HHI humidity. Many people also told me I looked like myself - not overly done up. Joy's connections in the HHI wedding industry run deep, so do yourself a favor and book her if you are looking for beautiful work at reasonable prices!

Joy Ross was amazing. She did a great job on my hair and make up. She knew exactly what I was talking about / looking for. She was very understanding and patient with me. I was very happy with her services and everyone complimented my hair and makeup. The trial was a tad messy but with adjustments gave me the perfect idea of my wedding day look and in the end I just couldn't be happier. She came out to my venue and did me up and helped out with other things.

Joy is a fun person to work with. She was the only affordable stylist I could find who would include a trial appointment and travel to my location on a Sunday. Everyone commented on how pretty and glamorous my hair turned out to be. She was also very flexible since my maid of honor wanted her hair done at the last minute and Joy was fine with that. I am a local bride, so I will definitely be going back to Joy for regular services.

Wonderful to work with! She is very talented and was responsive to my requests with my hair/make-up as well as my bridesmaid and MOB. We were all pleased and received so many compliments throughout the evening!

Our time with Joy was stress-free and pleasant. She does wonderful work and her prices reflect her talent, so she's not cheap. But, my hair held up the entire night and my make up (including lip color) lasted throughout the after party!

I would highly recommend Joy!

Joy Ross did both my hair and makeup on May 28, 2011. She was wonderful...being that I am from Beaufort I was recommended to her by multiple people. I went to her cute shop that she has for my trial makeup (which by the way i did very last minute since i dont live in hilton head) and she was completely flexible in her time! she seriously made me feel so comfortable and she came out to the hotel where i was married at on the wedding day to do both hair and makeup and one of my bridesmaids as well. very reasonable prices too! i had a flower clip that i put in my hair and everybody complimented my hair...joy ross is a definite must book! she's really sweet and fun too :-)

Joy was great to work with! She was punctual and took her time to make sure not only myself (the bride), but my bridesmaids had their hair done the way they liked it. Prices were comparable to other hair stylists for coming on-site for the wedding day. I would recommended Joy for any occasion that you would need a hair stylist .

Joy was so much fun to work with. She is very flexible .. At our first appointment she tried dozens of different looks and I honestly could have used almost any of them. She made me feel very comfortable that she was going to do a great job no matter what. I changed my hairstyle the day of my wedding and she gave me a FLAWLESS half updo. Joy is easy to work with, she styled all 6 of my bridesmaids with different looks and every single person was happy with the outcome. She is so fast with makeup too, her HD makeup looked amazing in my photos. All in all, she treated me like gold and I would highly recommend her for both hair and makeup.

Joy was just AWESOME!!! Such a pleasure to work with and she does phenomenal work. The entire bridal party including my mom and myself looked amazing. Joy was easy going and open to ideas. Joy was a pleasure to work with. She did hair and make-up for my daughter and myself (bride's mom). She did exactly what we wanted and the bride was beautiful on her wedding day. The only problem Joy had was applying false eyelashes. One of mine was incorrectly applied and I didn't notice until Joy left. I don't think anyone else noticed, though. Otherwise, she did a terrific job.

Joy and Kendra were great to work with! I was an out of town bride with a favorite stylist back home so I was kind of picky when choosing a salon, but also didn't want to spend an arm and a leg. Joy was reasonably priced. I was able to do a trial a few months before. The trial was hard because my hair was too short. But, the day of, my hair looked so beautiful. And although she works very fast, everyone's hair looked great and lasted all day/night. Kendra did a fantastic job with makeup. I wanted a natural look and she did a really good job at doing just that. My lack of a 5/5 comes from just a couple small things. I had went to Joy the day before my wedding to get my brows touched up and she waxed just a wee bit more than I wanted and I ended up having to fill them in for a couple weeks which I'm not used to doing. Joy was also running a little late on the day of the wedding and I was 15 minutes behind schedule once my hair was done. I had to get my dress on quickly and get out the door. I only wish I had had more time to spend with my mom, sister, and other family enjoying that moment after the dress gets one before I went to meet up with my groom. We made up time during the pictures and were back on schedule but just something to note. Overall, I think Joy is good at what she does. She is very funny and nice to have around the day of your wedding.

Joy and her team were wonderful to work with. I had 9 bridesmaids and three mothers to take care of (including me). They did a wonderful job and finished everyone's hair in make-up with plenty of time to spare. Even though i was from out of town, She did a fantastic job of working with me to create and the perfect wedding look. She even set up a trial three days before the wedding! I strongly recommend her services as she and her team are truly a pleasure.

Joy did an awesome job on my hair and makeup for my wedding day. She was very accommodating with scheduling for my hair and makeup trial. I planned my wedding from out of town and only visited Beaufort one time prior to the wedding date and she was able to fit me in. Joy was also accommodating with making changes to the agreed upon hair and makeup styles from the trial to the wedding day. She always responded very promptly to my emails. Joy did arrive about 15 minutes late on the wedding day, however she called to notify me and was very apologetic. Overall, it was a great experience and I would recommend her to others!

We found Joy online while planning the wedding and were excited that she offered to come to US on the day of the wedding. She also offered a hair & makeup trial the week of the wedding so there wouldn't be any surprises the day-of. She did a good job on our hair, but the makeup was really the highlight. Everyone who had their makeup done looked like themselves - not overly made up - and my makeup lasted through the evening of an outdoor reception in September. It was a bit expensive at the end of the day. She is a great lady, and we had fun working with her. She works best off of pictures, so make sure you do a little bit of research and know what you want!

Overall I was happy with Joy and her team. The hair and make up looked great for me and my girls and I think they did a really good job. However, there were a couple hiccups. Two of the girls decided to back out last minute to get their hair done. Joy was very nice to allow them to leave the contract but it really messed with time. Originally we were given 2.5 hours to get ready, but after taking the two girls out she allowed a 1.5 hour time frame to do 8 services done. Which she assured me was enough time. But they showed up 30 minutes late which only gave us an hour to get ready. Everyone was able to get theit service done but it felt really rushed and I don't really have relaxing memories of getting ready on my wedding day. I had to rush into my dress without my girls who were still getting ready and rush through pictures with the girls. That being said, I was pleased with my hair and make up so I would go back but I'd ask for better planning next time

Joy can do great things with hair. I will give her that. My hair and everyone else's hair looked great at the wedding. They all lasted all day/night with no worries. The makeup she did was not good. My bridesmaids looked orange and had streaks all over their faces. In some photos my own face looks orange. She showed up 30 minutes late; was very rude to my bridesmaids (got upset when they didn't have pictures/was rude when they didn't want their hair up); and then critiqued my photographer. I would recommend her to do your hair, but not much else.

My wedding day-09-24-2020

Our wedding was beautiful!! I was excited for Joy Ross to be the one who would be the one to fix my hair, because she came highly recommend. I had an appointment with Joy for my hair and Lauren for my make up (who did not show up) Joy was late, first of all. I had to pick Joy up from the gate so she could get in for some odd reason. My makeup crumpled during our photos before the wedding. My hair did not hold at all, then right before I was to walk down the aisle my eyelashes came off. I had to get someone to find mascara for me somehow so I could fix my own lashes. She ruined a $60 dress shirt. I would not recommend Joy. The way a bride looks on her wedding day is one of the most important parts of the wedding. Lucky for me I had friends to help with my make up again which made my ceremony begin late which left less time for pictures on the beach.

No Call, No Show

I booked style it salon for a formal event. Joy never showed up and never called to inform me she wasn't going to show. I have screen shots of our communication where she told me she would be out to my hotel after a wedding session and she ghosted me, left me high and dry! If she would have told me she wasn't coming I could have made other arrangement but NO! Apparently she had more important things to do besides show up for clients waiting for her services. I am absolutely appalled by the lack of professionalism! Not even a call to apologize which shows her true character.

She lied about her price and over charged. I was not satisfied with her work. My hair was a mess and I looked like I did not have any makeup on. This was for my wedding. I would not recommend her for your wedding day.

I hate leaving bad reviews, but joy made the mother of the bride & mother of the groom look terrible! Their make up included blue eye shadow & purple lipstick..when they asked for a "natural look". It was awful. She did not ask them if they liked their make up & only took about 20 minutes to do it. The purple lip stick was also a STAIN, it was a nightmare trying to fix the mom's make up afterward & did not start their day off well at all. Mother of the bride missed some pictures because she was getting her make redone by someone else. No mother or bride should have to cry on the wedding day & unfortunately thats exactly what happened with hair & make up. For the bride's hair, when the picture was pulled up showing what it should look like she said " I did that at the trial? hmm" If that doesn't make a bride nervous i don't know what will. She also didn't ask questions during the hair to see if the bride even liked it. When a comment was made about wanting it different she responded with " well i just did it this way, & i like it this way better". the bride let it go because the last thing you want is the only person available to do your hair to be upset with you. She didn't seem very open to listening or other ideas & just seemed to be in a rush. The brides hair maybe took 30 minutes & she didn't even ask if she was satisfied at the end. She also was bad mouthing "air brush make up" while the airbrush artist was in the other room doing bridesmaids & bride make up. Totally unprofessional. She also charged the bride for hair & make up and not just hair. Overall, disaster. save yourself from tears and not having your hair exactly how you want it on your wedding day, trust me.

Although my wedding day was amazing & perfect, being upset for hours before your wedding is not how i wanted to spend my day.
