My husband and I are so glad we hired John and Max Mills for our wedding and engagement photo shoot. They were very professional and responded on time for everything. The albums that they made were just beautiful!!! We will treasure the photos forever.

Max and John Mills provided photography services for our wedding at La Venta Inn in Palos Verdes. They were one of the recommended vendors, and we're so glad that we used them! First, they had an excellent knowledge of the venue and all of the best times and places for photographs tot be taken so we were sure to get the best photos possible given the time of day of our wedding. And, of course, we did!!! We were fortunate to have a fabulous day which allowed them to take breathtaking photos over the ocean, in the gardens, outside as the sun was going down, and inside after the sun was set. We are extremely pleased with the quality and clarity of the photos. They were able to capture exceptional moments before and during the ceremony and throughout the reception. Max and John make the entire process of working with them easy. We had a pre-wedding meeting with them to review our preferences and wishes; they split up the day of the wedding and each took pictures of the brides and their families, and then we did group pictures prior to the ceremony; they worked together the remainder of the evening with us having no idea they were even there; and several weeks following the wedding they contacted us to let us know our pictures were up on a website for review. Simple, simple, simple! They have done a terrific job for us, and we can't wait to get our completed album. We highly recommend John and Max Mills!!!

John and Max photographed my wedding. From the first phone call, Max was incredibly friendly and helpful. She was always responsive to my questions and very easy to work with. Before the wedding, I sent her types of pictures I liked and a long list of "shots" I wanted on my wedding day. She was very receptive and walked me thru how the day of the wedding would be approached. On the wedding day, John and Max were on time and professional. They worked well together and you could tell they had a lot of experience. They did a great job capturing important family pictures and some well timed sunset pictures. John and Max paid close attention to my requested picture list and I appreciated that. My husband and I were very happy with the pictures we got from our wedding! We got a large number of shots and many great poses. It was nice to have 2 photographers, to capture different viewpoints of the day. After the wedding, we received the pictures in a timely manner. We had an album as part of our deal and I worked for months with Max on that. She did multiple revisions, in a timely manner and I really appreciated her patience. She has a terrific creative eye and the layout of the album is beautiful. The whole process of working with John and Max was a pleasure. Selecting my wedding photographer was a very important decision and I'm happy that my husband and I had John and Max be a part of our special day. I would definitely recommend them to other couples as we had a very positive experience!

John and Max recently photographed our wedding, as well as our engagement shoot. Our venue provided a list of photography options, but within minutes of our first meeting with Max we knew this was the right choice. Both John and Max are warm, funny and enjoyable to work with. We wanted people at our wedding that we connected with - as well as them being great at their job. They make the experience of being photographed (something I am not a fan of) a pleasure, and their work is beautiful. They work so well together and they were able to customize a package to suit our needs.

At the wedding they were both the perfect blend of organizing and hands off. There are so many shots where I don't even recall a photographer being present!

The photos from both our engagement "get to know you" shoot and the wedding are stunning. They really show off the beauty of the venue and the vibrant colors of the area. In addition our posed shots look great and the more candid shots are so much fun.

We are so glad that we picked John and Max for our special day.

Max and John Mills made the experience from start to finish absolutely amazing!
Planning a wedding from another state was not easy (we live in ND and the wedding was in CA) but they were understanding and very flexible. They had great suggestions for us and were eager to work with us in every aspect and every step of the process.
Max and John are very professional, fun and easy to get along. At the end of the wedding, I felt like I had gained friends. You can tell that they have a passion for their work (always smiling as they move swiftly through the crowd). The result of their work is so stunning that I had a tough time narrowing my designer album to the 60 photos we had agreed upon. Such a great problem to have! We got married in Manhattan Beach, CA and John and Max captured our day perfectly! We had scheduled to have them meet us at the hotel for some pre-pictures and of our first look, and that is when we thought their day started. Little did we know, they went to the venue and captured some amazing pictures of the venue set up before people arrived. These pictures turned out to be very special as we did not get to see the venue until after everyone was there.

From the moment we meet with them, to the minute they left, we felt very comfortable working with John and Max. One touch we really liked is they took the time to know the names of our family members so that during pictures, they were able to call people by their names.

Also, my now husband HATES to take pictures. One of the main reasons we selected John and Max is because they explained to them that through their experience they have learned lighting and angles and they do not take 100 pictures of the same shot. They like the capture the picture and move on. This also allowed us to spend more time with our guest’s day of the wedding.

Now to the pictures...they are amazing! We got married on the beach, and the way they captured the lighting and some of the couple pictures we got, I never would have imagined. They knew what shots would work for us, and what would not. We also wanted to take some pictures with props on the beach, and they were very accommodating. Also when the sun was setting back at our venue, they captured some amazing shots. I never realized how beneficial it would be to have 2 photographers...not only did it make the process quicker, but allowed for pictures to be taken from different angles and we noticed that pictures were captured of us and our guests at the same time. It felt like we did not miss out on anything.

We would highly recommend meeting with Jon and Max and then selecting them for your photographers.

John and Max were incredible, they were prepared, prompt, and so complimentary through the entire event. When we met John and Max I asked how they would get to know us before the event and they said we were welcome to meet them again to chat as much as we wanted before the event.
I emailed Max to ask a couple question and she called me back and eased every concern I voiced. During the wedding they were awesome, I know they work with brides most weekends, but I truly felt like they thought I was the easiest/most beautiful bride they'd ever worked with. I loved that there were 2 of them, having pictures from two different angles shows different perspectives, which I really like.

We really enjoyed working with John and Max on our wedding day!! We were glad that we used them to capture our special moments!! They are both GREAT to work with!! They really took time to get to know us and to understand our preference and needs before and during the wedding day, which was very special to use. They are very easy going and fun to work with. They made all the photo sessions very enjoyable! All of our wedding party loved working with them. They are also very patient and flexible to coordinate the photo sessions with other wedding activities.

John and Max Mills were a pleasure to work with on our wedding. From the start they made us feel so at ease regarding the whole process. They answered all our questions, showed us sample albums and portraits they had done and discussed what we wanted from them. Max was always available to answer our questions by phone or email. We set up a photo session for pictures to use for our guest book. We were not disappointed one bit with the exceptional quality of the pictures and the book. The day of the wedding, John and Max took a tremendous amount of pictures and managed to keep us all smiling and at ease. We now have the difficult task of choosing which pictures to use for our wedding album. The additional bonus of getting a digital copy of all the pictures taken makes it easier to narrow our choices down. We highly recommend using John and Max for your future event - you will not be disappointed.

I was extremely happy with the services provided by John and Max. As a couple, they work extremely well together. What I valued the most is their personality. As a bride, you are constantly taking photos and John and Max made the process enjoyable and easy. My husband is not one who likes taking photos and even he, enjoyed the time with John and Max. John and Max were able to give direction to family members who were straggling while being polite which was important to me. They are a fun couple and very professional.

The turnaround time of the photos was quick and I was thrilled with how all the photos turned out. John and Max worked closely with me before the wedding to ensure that all of my must-have photos were taken, and they were. John and Max are experts on light and capturing memborable moments, not just staged photos.

One of my favorite parts about John and Max Mills Photography is that I have the right to all the digitals from the wedding.

I was thrilled with my experience with John & Max Mills Photography from the initial meeting to the gorgeous finished products. Since sharing my wedding album with friends, I have become even more appreciative of their work, as friends have shared more horror stories than success stories regarding their wedding photography experiences. Luckily, my experience was just the opposite as it was a complete success from A to Z. John and Max conducted business in a very professional, but still warm and caring manner. Any questions that I emailed were always promptly answered, which was key for a somewhat anxious bride! I felt that my happiness with their product was truly their goal. John really put everyone at ease during the picture taking time, including my husband, who is notorious for not wanting to take pictures. Max and John are great photographers and run a very friendly, professional business.

They did everything to make sure we got all the best pictures, while also being very respectful. When it came to designing the album, Max was very flexible in making any changes before completing the project. There were not many changes to make, as the original design was wonderful. Our wedding album turned out to be beautiful!

We have been married for over one year now, and the pictures are the best way to remember our wedding.

John and Max Mills were absolutely everything we could of hoped for. From our first conversation I could tell their experience was immense and I was not disappointed. Prior to the wedding we thoroughly discussed my husbands and my vision with John and Maxine. They really understood what we were looking for and executed it perfectly. They knew the venue so well which really helped us get the perfect shots without wasting any time. They work seamlessly together. They were so efficient getting our photos back to us, which was great cause I was really anxious to see them. The lighting was superb in every shot, I loved the sillhouettes of my husband and I. The Mill's are the best and my wife and I could not be happier with our wedding photos. They were so accommodating and gracious throughout the entire process, despite the challenges we presented them, ranging from changing our wedding date after signing with them to being away on business travel right up until our wedding. During the planning we had in-person meetings over half a dozen times, countless emails, and even more phone calls all before the get-to-know-you/engagement session. They really get to know you and your idiosyncrasies before they even start shooting! Neither my wife or I are very photogenic, so the engagement shoot was a great way for us to get used with the Mills taking pictures of us while learning about our problematic habits, such as my wife's inability to stop raising her chin or my habit of not just smiling, but getting a large, goofy grin. It also put to ease our fear of inclement weather on our wedding day since our engagement shoot was outside on a temperamental February day and we saw it go from drizzle to sunny to overcast and back to drizzle over and over. They handled the ever changing conditions with the greatest of ease.
Our engagement shoot was at Wilderness Park and our wedding at La Venta Inn. Their knowledge of both locations, especially La Venta, is uncanny. They knew all of the tricks and secret locations for the best shots and their timing was perfect. They knew exactly when to whisk us away for the perfect sunset photos and how to catch the perfect candid shots. As I journey through the photos, now nearly 6 months after our wedding, I find just the right amount of posed family photos juxtaposed with live-action candid pics.
We could not be happier with the Mills as our choice for wedding photographers, plan to stay in touch and keep them as our family photographers, and highly recommend them to perfectly capture your special day!

Anna and I made the decision to go with a proven team to ensure our wedding day was perfect and we were not disappointed. John and Max were there before, during, and after the wedding to ensure we got the highest quality and diverse wedding photos possible. John & Max Mills Photography were among several photographers referred by our venue, La Venta Inn, but upon reviewing their portfolio we felt that they captured the spectacular setting like no other. We were spending a lot to have that view and we wanted photos that would not only show us and the emotion of the day, but also the vibrant colors of the ocean, sky, flowers and manicured grounds. While many other photographers washed a lot of that out, John and Max make it their job to show it off.
When we met with them we were so charmed by their sweet, funny personalities too, we went to their home office that happened to be in our neighborhood and felt so comfortable sharing our vision for our day. They had set packages but were flexible with switching options within them and worked with us to give us what we needed for the price we could pay. I tried to cut costs on several aspects of the wedding, but photography was not something I was willing to scrimp on- knowing that it will be what we have to remember that wonderful (and expensive day)! They listened to all my ideas and even were willing to look at my pinterest board of all my dream images.
At the wedding they were the perfect balance of involved but hands off, never in the way but catching all the important moments. Their team work with each other and with our coordinator was excellent and I never had to worry that they would miss a beat. They shot so many gorgeous photos that it has taken us months to narrow down our album, but we finally made our choices and we're so happy!

John and Max were highly recommended by our venue, La Venta Inn. As soon as I met them, I knew they were the perfect photographers for our wedding. Max was very helpful to me in visualizing how the big day was going to play out. She listened to my ideas and then provided some ideas of her own. Overall, I felt my needs were going to be met. On the big day, as overwhelming as it can be, they made me feel so beautiful and special. I was a bit camera shy, but they had a natural ability to capture many great moments of our wedding. One big detail about them is that they took so many great photos and were unobtrusive. We hardly knew they were there. Their photography skills were amazing! I was told by a friend, who is also a photographer, that my photos had great lighting. If you meet with them, you will be shown their portfolios and it will speak for themselves. They are truly experts in their field!

Max, John, Jesse Mills were the best off-the-charts outstanding photographers that any bride and groom could ever dream of having. Using John and Max Mills was absolutely one of, if not the most positive experiences in the planning of my wedding. It is from their kindness to their professionalism that made one of the most important days of my life so stress free! On a day when there are 100 other things to worry about, I knew that I could count on them. Then there is the quality of their pictures. From our engagement photos to our wedding album, they were able to capture all of the elements of the day from beginning to end in exactly the way we had discussed in our meetings prior. I picked John & Max after reading reviews online. They were just perfect! I haven't seen the photos yet, but they were very responsive and easy to work with. During the wedding they made us feel really comfortable. They shoot at La Venta Inn (where we had our wedding) frequently so they know all the good spots to take photos. I'm so glad I picked them. They really listened to what was important to us and made sure to capture every special moment. My husband and I picked John & Max Mills after they were highly recommended to us by PVGC (Palos Verdes Golf Club), where our reception was held. They were and are fantastic! Both John and Max were amazing photographers and not only professional but also very personable. As a husband and wife team, they photographed our engagement photos, wedding and reception photos, and the day after our wedding photos (aka: trash the dress). What I found amazing about them is that they were able to capture the special moments of our day without being in the way of our day. I've been to weddings where the photographer is a mere inches away from the couple the entire time which really intrudes on the feel of the wedding. John and Max were discreet (so much so that we sometimes forgot that we were even being photographed!) yet able to get some amazing pictures. Both my husband and I are living out of the country and had to plan the wedding abroad and they were so flexible about working with us, despite an 8 hour time difference. Through e-mails and carefully timed phone calls, John and Max were able to work around our schedule of when we would be in town and to coordinate the day. They listened to our requests and were open to our ideas (including a perfectly timed sunset stop between the ceremony and reception which resulted in gorgeous photos). They were also very patient and clear about picking our photos, albums, etc. and very honest about pricing (which was very reasonable and worth every penny!). John and Max are simply perfection at what they do yet are so humble that you want to invite them over for dinner just because they are so sweet. Your search for a photographer is over...choose John and Max and you will NOT be disappointed!!

We were married 34 years ago. At that time we had a photographer that really did a terrible job on the pictures. Max and John were able to take those photographs and improve the quality dramatically through their expertise. We are delighted with the results. As we turn the pages of the beautiful new album that Max designed and so creatively put together for us, we can now truly enjoy the memories of that day. Max and John are one of the most polite, warm, calm, fun, and loving people I ever met.
In the midst of wedding chaos, they stayed calm and gave us clear instructions of what to do (how to stand, where to look) and made us laugh (really) so that our smiles are not fake LOL.
Throughout the wedding, they took many pictures that are overflowing with love, they are so good that you can almost hear us laughing.

I had the pleasure of working with Max and John Mills recently for my son and daughter-in-law's wedding. Max and John were both a delight to work with and though highly recommended, far exceeded my expectations.

Worth every penny--John and Max are both phenomenal photographers and very service oriented. Our album is absolutely stunning. Our wedding was at La Venta and we chose them because they had photographed numerous weddings there throughout the years. We were able to look at literally hundreds of wedding pictures taken at La Venta months prior to our wedding and tell them, we like this picture, we don't like that one, we definitely want something like this, we definitely don't want that, etc. And it paid off--we just got our wedding album and I can't stop looking at it!! It's amazing, creative, beautiful, and unique. They captured every moment perfectly. And they weren't in the way, either. I would recommend them without hesitation.

Though it may sound cliché, our wedding was truly a magical experience. From the initial planning to the final execution, everything flowed seamlessly. We seemed to be at the right place at the perfect time to make the ideal connection. Consequently, all of the vendors, for our September 27th wedding, were deemed the best in their field. While it’s good to hear the accolades, I was anxious to see the action. As they say, “talk is cheap.” Needless to say, John & Max Mills Photography EXCEEDED our expectations.

Like all engaged couples, we began researching and interviewing the vendors for our event. While we used the internet to supplement our search, our main guide was La Venta’s vendor list. Our coordinator checked off the top recommendations from their list. They suggested 3 photographers. Max and Mills were our second appointment, and after our meeting, we realized that we did not need to see the third photographer.

From the start, there was a wonderful connection. They are such warm and caring people, who expressed a sincere interest in the effortless success of our wedding day. Moreover, they put us at ease encouraging us to savor the experience. They worked within our budget and provided us with a spectacular package. Of particular benefit was the “Get to know you” session.

For John and Max Mills, the details are a critical element in creating the beautiful tapestry of a greater moment. This is why the “Get to know you” session is so important. We spent a couple of hours getting comfortable in front of the camera, as well as with each other. This was crucial because my wife had trouble relaxing in front of the camera. They offered suggestions and invited us to play off this starting point. They are equally adept at staging photographic moments and capturing poignant candid shots.

In the weeks leading up to the wedding they would call to remind us about pending appointments or other items critical to the success of our day. They arrived early and put our entire wedding party (which was enormous) at ease. While they took hundreds of photographs their presence was unobtrusive and hardly noticeable. They did such a great job that my wife looked flawless in the photos. She shined in every picture they took, which is a testament to their skill as photographers as well as creating a relaxing environment.

When we finally showed our friends and families proofs of our wedding they were so dazzled that many thought that the images had been retouched. When we assured them that these were authentic they were astonished. My wife is so impressed and excited that we are looking forward to having them capture the next major event in our lives. We can offer no higher praise than to say that John and Max Mills are our photographers for life.

John and Max were so easy to work with! As a busy working bride, I didn't always have the time to keep detailed records of all of the conversations that I had with the many vendors. No need with the Mills...they had everything organized for me. Max was so responsive to any emails or questions that I had.

On the day of the wedding they were early, helpful and so kind to our wedding party. They were so unobtrusive during the ceremony, they left us all wondering if they had even taken any shots in the church! Not to fear - once we received the proofs it was evident that their wonderful work had captured all of the most important moments of our day.

Too often, vendors stop responding to you once they have your money in hand. Not the Mills! As we are reviewing our proofs for our album, they have been helpful and timely. Their business is supported by word of mouth endorsements, so they take customer satisfaction seriously. Their hassle-free approach to their work makes working with them a pleasure.

John and Max Mills photographed our wedding at La Venta Inn this past summer and it was a wonderful, stress-free, and high-quality experience. We strongly recommend them!!!

After an initial consultation, we opted to do a �get to know you� session a few weeks before the wedding; just some casual pictures at some of our favorite L.A. haunts that we could share with friends and display at the wedding itself. (John and Max can create wedding-day displays for you, or they can release the photos to you in time for you to create your own displays at the wedding.) This was a very relaxing afternoon without any set formulae�whenever an opportune moment arose, they snapped a picture, all the while casually strolling along with us and, as the session�s title suggests, getting to know us a little. John and Max are a couple with excellent chemistry and great senses of humor, and they work so well together�this session captured some beautiful photos and, perhaps more importantly, it made us feel as if we were in good hands for the big day! Shortly after the GTKY session, a cd arrived in the mail with all of our pictures, to do with as we pleased. (Never in this process did we feel pressure from the photographers to buy the fanciest package or spend more more more�John and Max do incredible finishing work and they offered us plenty of beautiful packaging and framing options, but they also appreciated our budgeting, and were very considerate and classy about catering to our modest needs.)

The wedding-day was handled with professionalism and unobtrusiveness. On a day when there�s so much to remember, so many small details to sweat and so many deliveries to time, it was a tremendous relief to see John and Max arriving exactly when they had promised. Before lots of guests arrived, they took some gorgeous venue/flower/table pictures, captured some candids of us getting ready, and, generally, warmed up without being in anyone�s way. Then, right on schedule, they commenced with the very long list of family photos we�d concocted, managing to get them all finished before the ceremony was set to begin. Once the event was in process, they somehow managed to capture every key moment without us even sensing their presences, and, for those special pictures we�d asked them to coordinate (such as a whole-group photo with flower-tossing), they got the job done respectfully and quickly. As the night wore on, they had us do some terrific bride-and-groom photos around the venue (showcasing their familiarity with the site and its staff�an invaluable asset!) including some breathtaking sunset pictures. Needless to say, when the cd of wedding photos arrived in the mail, we were extremely pleased!

All in all, the experience with John and Max was entirely positive and we hope others will benefit from our recommendation.

It has been two years since our daughter's wedding at Palos Verdes Country Club in July of 2007. Every time I look at the stunningly beautiful wedding album by John and Max Mills, I still get chills! John and Max Mills are THE best wedding photographers out there! My hubby and I got married in 2004 and truly loved having the Mills as a part of our wedding day! We checked out a few different photographers before we met John and Max, and we immediately felt at ease with their kindness and professionalism. After seeing examples of their amazing work, we couldn�t wait for them to shoot our engagement and wedding photos. They did not disappoint!

On the day of the wedding, the Mills gently guided us when taking posed pictures and then quietly melted away into the background while still capturing fabulous candid shots. They were fun to be around and even our guests commented on how sweet our photographers were! John and Max also have a great eye for detail and were quick to hone in on all those little special touches we had put so much thought and effort into planning. When we viewed our pictures shortly after our wedding, we couldn�t believe how perfectly they had captured every aspect of our most special day! Being a teacher I had the summer off to do my research and prepare for our wedding. I interviewed a variety of photographers and did MY homework on various vendors. Their photographs are what first caught my eye; remarkable shots with beautiful back grounds. I saw their website and was impressed, but it wasn�t until someone recommended them that I decided to call. I met with John and Max and was instantly at ease by their personality, very easy to talk to and understanding of our needs.

We have been so pleased with John & Max throughout the process. They were very familiar with the property, which made the photos an easy and quick transition between the wedding and reception allowing us more time with our guests. max and john are very serious about their craft and they are true artists. We got a great price, and they spent hours with us making sure we were completely satisfied with the photos. What a treat it is to work with John and Max! I would highly recommend having them take black and white engagement photos and create their signature book. We used this for our guest book, and it's one of our favorite wedding momentos.
John and Max are wonderful to work with...extremely professional, yet funny and caring. They will treat your wedding day with as their number one priority, and put you at ease so you don't have to think the photo details, but rather just enjoy the day. We were so happy with our photos, it took forever to select our favorites for our wedding album. Max is truly talented with designing wedding albums, and i know we'll enjoy ours for our lifetimes!

At our wedding venue, we noticed several photographs by John and Max Mills and they were beautiful. We met the Mills and they were very friendly and professional. It was great to actually meet the photographers for our wedding versus having a company select one for us. The Mills were so flexible and accommodating with our package. During our engagement photo session at the beach, they spent a substantial amount of time with us and the pictures turned out beautiful. Our guests raved about our the sign-in book. At the wedding, we hardly noticed the Mills but they were able to capture all the great moments. They knew our family member's names and were so polite to our guests. Our wedding pictures were wonderful. We had a difficult time narrowing our selections for our album because there were so many great pictures. Thanks John and Max!

John and Max Mills did a great job at our wedding. My husband and I did a "destination" wedding in Manhattan Beach and John and Max made it easy to handle the details, especially from Texas. We felt very much at ease going into our big day (well, as much as anyone feels at ease :) ). I can't say they blended into the background, because that is not what we wanted. My husband is very picture happy, so we wanted every shot there was, and that is what we got, but the Mills did it in a way that also gave us time to enjoy ourselves and our family and friends...John and Max took some fabulous photos, including a special trip to the beach between the church and the reception site. We had a hard time deciding which shots to include in our package because there were so many that we wanted. We ended up with an album that is a beautiful peice of art and memories that we know we will treasure forever, but John and Max were also a part of our celebration as individuals and helped to make it an extra special day.

Within three minutes of meeting John and Max Mills, you begin to wonder if you'd rather just invite them to your wedding as guests, because they are extremely friendly, down to earth, real, and for lack of a fancier word, cool. Then you remember you went to see them about photography and if you do, then you have made an excellent choice. John and Max are professional, creative, not-intrusive, and an absolute pleasure to work with. Make sure to ask about their "Getting to know you" session which you will do before the wedding, which helps what is an already easy bond and gives you an example of what a joy they are to work with. We barely even noticed them at the wedding yet all of the most important moments were captured. Their prices were significantly less than others we had talked to and they are easily worth 10 times what you will pay. This is a no brainer. All you need to do is meet with them once. We were so happy with our wedding photographs and album that we are already talking to them about taking baby pictures for us. Wedding planning can be hard, so make one part of it easy - go see John and Max!

John and Max Mills photographed our wedding and we could not have been happier with their service, expertise, and keen eyes. We met prior to the wedding to go over timing of the day, what special photos to take, and get a general feel for working together, etc. (I would have never thought of these things).

One of them took color photos while the other captured special moments in black and white. The amazing thing to me was that we really never knew they were at our wedding, but we ended up with some of the most beautiful portraits, candid shots, group panoramas and captivating photographic art which we proudly display as such. They very discreetly went about their work, while we enjoyed every moment of the ceremony and reception.

Max has a special talent and gave great advice as to what makes a good album, a great wall-hanging, or an artistic statement. She was exceptionally patient with me as I made our selections and I appreciated her professional advice. I am grateful that Mills Photography captured my wedding so beautifully.

John and Max Mills did an amazing job photographing our wedding. From the first meeting we knew they were the people for the job and they exceeded our expectations. They got to know everyone during the pre-wedding shoot, which helped keep us all relaxed and happy.

John and Max worked so well together and were fantastic about handling special requests and accommodating us. We also appreciate all the personal touches they provided throughout the day. They were professional and polite, not to mention fun! Our friends and family have commented on how wonderful our album is and we agree. It's a beautiful portrait of our wedding day.

Max and Jon shot our wedding ceremony last weekend and they were great to work with! We had a specific schedule before our ceremony and after and they were very relaxed and accommodating and of course enjoyable to work with.

When I first met Max I knew they would be a great compliment to our wedding day. Their experience in shooting photography in direct sun with an ocean background as well as on the beach was important to me and I knew they would do a great job!

Having 2 photographers on the day is great as you will get multiple shots as well as different perspectives.

I would highly recommend Max and Jon for your oceanside/beach wedding!

We worked with John and Max for our engagement photos and wedding photos. Max was very helpful throughout the whole process from start to finish.
Our engagement session was shot in downtown LA at the Bradbury building and Union Station. the photos came out simply amazing with some very creative shots.
Our wedding was at LaVenta and they were very familiar with the grounds. The sunset photos were timed perfectly to get just the shots.
They were great to work with and pics came out great.

I made my fiancé choose our photographer. Because he's an armature photographer I figured he would make a more logical and less emotional choice and that’s exactly what he did.

I would not have chosen Mills Photography. Nothing jumped off their portfolio and grabbed my heart. Sure it’s nice, but it didn’t speak to me personally.

However - now that I have MY pictures - I could NOT BE HAPPIER with Mills Photography. Here’s why.

1.) I showed them the style of pictures I wanted on my wedding, and that’s what they gave me.
2.) Their price is fantastic especially because our package included albums. Two albums!
3.) My family (who all hate having their pictures taken) enjoyed working with them and Max and John got striking pictures of uncooperative people.
4.) Most importantly for a bride - they understood me, and encouraged my eccentricity. When I started sticking my tongue out and crossing my eyes, they didn’t get offended, they made everybody else do it too - and so my pictures have this sense of fun and play about them! They aren’t all stiff and posed. They feel real and alive and unique.
5.) I’m not photogenic probably because I don’t like having my picture taken. I told them I was worried, and asked them to help me because I wanted nice pictures. They made it easy. The pictures they took are definitely the best pictures of me anywhere period. And that can’t be just because it was my wedding. I’ve been as happy before, I’ve been in better lighting, I’ve worked with professionals, I’ve wanted nice pictures just as bad. I really feel they captured ME, and that’s awesome because no one else has done that before.

I said it before - I’ll say it again. I COULD NOT BE HAPPIER! :)

John & Max are absolutely wonderful to work with. They truly captured the essence of our wedding day and created a story for us to cherish. Their photos are beautiful and they have that wonderful eye for knowing what will work. None of our photos felt forced, yet we had a nice blend of candid and posed shots. They are fun to work with and understand that the day is about you - and are as unobtrusive as possible. The biggest problem we had was trying to chose the photos for our album since there were so many wonderful pictures! Thank you John & Max!!

After meeting John & Max for the first time, we knew right off the bat that they were the perfect photographers for our wedding. They encouraged us to do an engagement session, where we could also get to know them better before the wedding and make things more comfortable. This was a fabulous idea which made our wedding day more relaxed. They were very fun to work with and had creative ideas to work with our ideas for the wedding pictures and so forth. I would love to use them again and I would recommend others to their services also.

One trick they used on our wedding day, to not leave anyone out of pictures, was to have a list of family members in their pocket ( prior memorized ) of both sides of our families - this made it easier when they were talking to family members and trying to get everyone to line up for photos.

They also brought their son in to help on our wedding day to shoot and help set up- the three of them were a great team and such a pleasure to work with.

The QUALITY service we received with John and Max was excellent and we couldn't have been happier.

VERY nice people to work with. EXTREMELY flexible and cooperative. VERY competent and professional. Provided all services as promised. Quality of photographs was excellant. Wish I had thought to ask John and Max to bring a backdrop for the posed pictures prior to the ceremony so the hotel ballroom background wouldn't show in the photographs. I highly recommend John and Max.

John and Max are a great team with a body of work behind them that will make you very comfortable that you are making the right choice. In choosing a vendor you want one that has great ideas and gives good advice but also one that listens to your needs. Striking the right balance between these two things is what they did well.

The photo books are the best we've seen. The secret is in their creative eye (I think this is Max) in doing layout, picture framing, and background. It's hard to describe but when we saw our engagement photos we were wowed.

John and Max were very pleasant to work with, especially considering that we were planning a wedding from across the country.

They definitely tried to capture all the images that we asked them to for the big day, but it is important to note that their approach is journalistic in style to capture the day as it happened, and they'll be the first to tell you that they don't want to heavily edit photos.

We can't emphasize enough how positive and enthusiastic they were with the wedding party and guests, and we certainly appreciated that they knew all the relevant parties' (family, bridal party, etc.) names upon arrival. They even brought an additional shooter/lighting assistant free of charge.

When talking with friends who recently got married they had horror stories about getting pictures from their photographer. It's easiest here to say exactly when we got ours from Max and John (all dates are weeks from wedding): two weeks - preview album posted, three weeks - photos on online portal, six weeks - high quality images in hand and wedding album designed. What's most important is they did exactly what they said they would.

Finally, everyone's perception of what they are willing to spend on a photographer -- or any wedding vendor -- is going to be different. In the opinion of these bargain hunters, Max and John are experienced pros who are well worth it.

My son and his bride contracted with Mills. They were both very happy with the results. The quality of the photography was excellent and the Mills were very nice to work with. I wasn't happy with some of the family photos but the Mills were very responsive and offered to work with me to fix them.

John and Max are true professionals and artists, yet they were able to make us feel like we were just hanging out with friends during our engagement photos so we appeared happy and relaxed (which is hard to get my husband to do!) When they photographed our wedding a few months later, they captured every moment with such elegance and creativity. I would recommend them to my friends and family and plan to call them for pregnancy photots in the future!

Max & John Mill's are a married couple who both have an extensive background in photography. They captured my wedding day perfectly. Visit their website for examples. On your wedding day you will depend on your vendors to be on time and to deliver the products and services they promised in a professional manner. John and Max arrived exactly on time and were ready to begin as promised on our wedding day. It is important to talk to John & Max at length before your wedding to let them know exactly what kinds of shots your want, and what your don't want. Don't expect them to read your mind or somehow just intuitively know. They can't & they won't. You need to be honest and direct with them ahead of time and give them a clear instruction of your vision. I can't stress enough how grateful we are that my husband & I chose to see eachother before the ceremony to take most of our of posed portraits before our guests arrived. John and Max were there to catch the moment when my groom came around the corner & saw me for the first time in my wedding dress. They photographed the excitement & joy in our faces and preserved the moment for a lifetime. Because we posed for most of our formal portraits before the guests ever arrived, we were able to relax & enjoy the reception with our family & friends. Our guests were not kept waiting & hungry while we posed for pictures after the ceremony. I would HIGHLY recommend other brides & grooms do the same. John & Max gave us a CD with every image they shot at our wedding. This was invaluable in preserving our memories. Some other photographers charge extra for this, but John & Max include it in the price of every photography package they offer. John & Max seemed more concerned with pleasing the parents of the bride than with pleasing the bride & groom. We tried to explain our vision to them ahead of time, but they didn't follow that vision. We ended up having to photoshop many of our pictures because someone was looking away or various things had to be edited out of the background. After the photoshopping was done, we ended up with a beautiful custom album & portraits.

After further thought, I'm updating my review to reflect the entire experience.

Our photos turned out fine and a lot was captured that my husband & I didn't get a chance to notice on our wedding day.

However, we were disappointed when we were offered an "upgrade" to high resolution photos in exchange for 3 good reviews on different websites. We also learned during this same conversation that without the upgrade our photos wouldn't print well unless they were wallet-sized or smaller.

Considering the price that we paid for our package, we shouldn't have to write a review to receive the full product, especially when the high resolutions photos were ready to send.

To be honest, it is offenseive that they only cared about our opinion as a tool to further their business.
