Absolutely amazing

Dj Rhett was the best Dj I have ever witness. He made Latin and English music flow and follows through with what I wanted. I wanted people to dance and people danced ALL night. I got so many compliments on the choice of music and how good the DJ did.

Great value!

A friend recommended Jay Maxwell's to us after using them for her own wedding in Charleston and we are so grateful she did! Their prices are so reasonable, and you're not skimping on quality with them either. Our DJ was so kind and made sure he spoke directly with us to make sure we were happy and our guests were having a good time. Additionally, we were able to select "must play" songs from a HUGE catalog of music based on our guests RSVP write-ins and our DJ made us a CD of those "must play" songs :) Really sweet. Highly recommend Jay Maxwell's!

Perfect Wedding Reception fun thanks to Jay and his team!

Jay and his team were fantastic! They delivered exactly what we asked for which was fun and great dancing music! Everyone was on the dance floor dancing! They exceeded beyond what we expected :)

Best Wedding DJ and personality!!

Mike Bender with Jay Maxwell's Music By Request was the DJ at our wedding! Mike met with us and took time to get to know our personalities and preferences. He was in constant communication with us as the bride/groom and our planner. We had special requests songs that he incorporated to the night and he kept the party going the entire time!! Great personality and we had so many compliments! Highly recommend! 🎤

Extremely Satisfied

We were extremely satisfied with the service provided by Jay Maxwell and their DJ. We worked together with Rhett making sure he knew and understood every detail involving the music we wanted to hear and when we wanted to hear it. Rhett spent the time we needed to catch all the details In preparation for our special day. I also want to mention how well he blended and mixed the music to entertain a very diverse group of people. We were very happy with the show and entertainment he provided.

Rice Mill Wedding DJ

Jay Maxwell came highly recommended by a couple of my close friends and I’m so happy I went with them. Mike was our DJ and he was PHENOMENAL! We met up before the wedding to talk about the flow of the music from the ceremony to reception, the types of music my husband and I wanted at our wedding and he went above and beyond. We like to turn up, and our wedding had the best music I have ever heard at any wedding!!! He allowed us to list specific songs we wanted and denied requests for songs that we told him we did not want played haha great experience with this vendor!!

From our beginning consultation, Mr. Maxwell was exceptional. Not only was the music at our wedding at hit, we felt like we were truly taken care of. I would strongly recommend their services!

We were referred by a close friend to use Jay Maxwell for our DJ service at our wedding reception. We booked a mid-tier package where the DJ had at least 50+ events under their belt. We met with our DJ Kevin twice prior to our event, once several weeks out to do an initial meet and greet, and a second meeting a week out from our wedding. We highly recommend doing this if you can as it helps breaks the ice and allows whomever the DJ is to get a good idea of what your tastes are. Kevin did everything we could have asked for and was very receptive to our inputs for likes and dislikes. He respected our wishes and ensure the reception was about us and not about a DJ performance. He worked incredibly well with our coordinator at the venue and remained flexible as several changes were made on the fly. Many of our guests commented on how fun our DJ was and how tasteful the music choices were. We would happily use Jay Maxwell again for future events and highly recommend this outfit for your event.

The coordination and communication we received prior to our event was outstanding as all questions were answered in a timely fashion and there were no last minute surprises. Jay Maxwell's services are an incredible value given some of the other outfits we looked into. We highly recommend completing their initial meeting worksheet and turning the reins over to the DJs since that's what you're paying them to do. We also recommend taking their suggestions seriously as they know the venues and the acoustics so there may be additional equipment needed, as in our case. Again, we were well accommodated with no surprises when it came to the reception.

All in all, if you need a DJ to provide music and help control the flow of your event, look no further than Jay Maxwell's. You'll have a great time as will your guests and your DJ.

We loved working with Jay Maxwell's Music By Request! They made things so easy for us by providing a book that guided us through the flow of the reception, including songs to play for each component of the evening. We were even able to use their sound equipment for the ceremony and speeches. Our DJ was Rhett who was able to keep people moving on the dance floor until 2 am! They accommodated our special request for French music, which meant so much to us and our guests who were visiting from France. We would absolutely recommend them for anyone looking to have a great party!

Jay Maxwell was the perfect fit for our wedding! He was happy to serve in any way he possibly could. He was on time and had an amazing selection of songs. This was such a great company to have DJ our wedding. I actually choose Jay Maxwell's company based on a friend's wedding and their DJ was great....so I requested the same one! Mike was so fun and responsive to all of our requests and needs. Our night was perfect, the music was great, the involvement was perfect (not too much and not too little). There is nothing worse than being interrupted all night and Mike was so great and wasn't a bother at all if he had a question. Very good pricing and flexibility for the price. HIGHLY recommend.

Can't say enough about Jay Maxwell Music by Request! Our DJ was Rhett and he was awesome. We met with him before the wedding to go over our plan (when each event would happen) and talk about the type of music we wanted played. He was very accommodating and also had some suggestions that were super helpful. The day of the wedding we had to wind up switching some of our set up around and Rhett didn't complain once about having to change things. We had tons of compliments from our guests about what a great job he did and how well he read the crowd! I would highly recommend this DJ company for your wedding!

Jay Maxwell and his team provided the music for my wedding this May and did a great job! Brian who was the DJ for my wedding was so nice! I met up with him a few weeks before the wedding to go over the playlist and timeline and everything went great the day of! Donna was nice enough to edit a song for my father/daughter dance! This past Friday we had Andrew DJ our wedding from Jay Maxwell's Music and he was absolutely wonderful! My fiancé and I had already orchestrated playlists that were important to us and our families, and he was so accommodating with our requests. He met with us in person a few times and walked through the entire workbook that is provided, helping me make decisions when I was unsure what would work best for our day. We appreciate his energy all night that kept our families on the dance floor as much as possible. I am so appreciative of his patience with me and making our vision come to life! I met Jay and his wife Donna at a wedding show last year, shortly after I got engaged! They both really impressed me with their professionalism and attention to detail - they knew their current brides by name, whenever one of them stopped by their display. In addition, they offered one of the most affordable packages that my husband and I came across in our research, so we moved forward with hiring their company for our ceremony music, ceremony AV (microphones), and reception MC/music. We were initially assigned Kevin Baltimore as our DJ, and our initial meeting with him was great, but shortly before our wedding, he was called away and thus unable to perform at our event! Donna called to let me know the news personally, and Jay himself stepped in to fill Kevin's role. Both my husband and I felt very taken-care-of in that regard, and Jay did a great job on the wedding day - our guests were on the dance floor all night, and he played all of the songs we had requested! At the end of the evening, he also provided us a CD with all of our 'special' songs - processional, bridal song, recessional, first dance, father-daughter and mother-son dances, our last song and exit song. I would definitely recommend Jay's services to other brides who are looking for an affordable DJ option, but don't want to compromise on quality and service.

Mike was our DJ, and he was absolutely awesome. He paid very close attention to every detail, made sure everything was timed perfectly, and did a great job executing the whole thing. He did our ceremony and reception, and we couldn't have asked for a better guy--professionally and personally. Mike cared about our preferences, needs, and dislikes more than we could have ever expected and then honored all of them. Also, the staff at Jay Maxwell's Music was superb; they were incredibly friendly, quick to respond to emails, and super organized. We would 100% recommend this company and this DJ!

We hired Jay Maxwell Music By Request for our backyard wedding and reception this past October. They provided an incredibly helpful guidebook outlining all of the songs you might need and suggestions for common selections. Then, about 30 days before the event, Mike Bender was assigned as our DJ and we setup a call and walked through all the specifics of what we were looking for: a casual backyard bbq vibe. We sent over a list of specific songs and times for the ceremony which Mike got perfect! We also sent over a list of songs we wanted to hear during the afternoon. They played pretty much everything as far as I can tell! It started pouring rain about half way through the afternoon and Mike did a great job of adjusting his setup location with minimal disruption to the music. Overall, we were very happy with Mike and Jay Maxwell Music By Request!

Working with Jay and Donna was super easy! They were quick to respond to any questions I had and worked with me to find the exact songs we wanted for our reception. Our day of DJ, Rhett, was amazing and really keep the crowd alive and happy. He made sure he pronounced everyone's names correctly and that the show kept rolling even when we had a last minute change. 10/10 would recommend!

Brandon did a wonderful job DJ’ing our wedding. He was very prompt and responded to all my music requests. I requested to find songs in russian and he did it prior to the wedding. He arrived fully prepared with Russian play list! Donna was a pleasure to work with prior to the wedding. She handled administrative portion and helped with the payments. Jay Maxwell was great to work with! They have a booklet that organizes and lays out exactly what they need in terms of music and the procession of events at both the wedding and the reception. My guests enjoyed the music, and the DJ read the crowd very well! My father even commented on how enthusiastic the DJ was and that he was a great MC. I would recommend Jay Maxwell to anyone looking for a DJ for a special event.

We had Mike and honestly I was so happy with him! He took my crazy music requests and made my ceremony dreams a reality. I was not a super traditional bride and wanted to exit to something unexpected and he made a custom track that made it happen. Any off the wall song I wanted was honored and the party never stopped. When I had a VERY last minute request and could not remember the actual title, he found the song and brought me up to listen to it to make sure it was the right one. This ended up being one of the highlights of my night and would recommend Mike and Jay Maxwell to everyone!

The DJ was very friendly, had an amazing commentator voice and directed the flow of the evening very well. We met with him prior to the wedding and explained our desires and expectations. We loved Kevin!!! He worked with us to plan the music for both the ceremony and reception and both turned out perfectly. Due to a last-minute weather-related ceremony location change, we were worried that we would be without power but Kevin solved the problem and we had music for the entire event. He worked with us via both phone and email and worked well with our day-of coordinator and photographer to make sure that the entire day was moving as it should. We booked Jay Maxwell Music by Request for our ceremony and reception music at the Cooper River Room in Mt. Pleasant, SC. Our DJ, Jackson was absolutely amazing! He kept everything going smoothly, handled all of the requests (including some Italian music that was not on his playlist), and even got on the dance floor with us. We and our guests didn't stop dancing until the very end of the reception. It was such a fun night thanks to Jackson and Jay Maxwell Music! Highly recommended!!

We had Mike for our DJ and he was amazing! They send you a detailed book with everything you need to organize your music selection. Everything is layed out in order so it works great for coordinating a timeline. It comes with suggestions for each dance too. As the day got closer Mike met with us to go over everything. He had such great ideas and has such a great personality. He played exactly what we wanted and made sure to honor our requests. If you don't want a song played, he wont play it. He is there for you and makes sure that you know it. He will be involved as little or as much as you want him to be. Needless to say we had a blast at our wedding and I don't think anyone stopped dancing the entire time... except maybe to get a drink. Great job Mike and thank you for making our night unforgettable

We used Mike Bender with Jay Maxwell's by Request. We were very pleased with Mike's services overall. He kept the party going all night long, feeling out the crowd for what to play when. Unfortunately, we did have one issue...the iPad died right as the recessional song played. We had picked a special song to be played, so we were a little bummed that we didn't hear that. However, Mike was so apologetic and we knew it was an honest oversight. We're all human and it happens. The reception was the most important part in terms of music service, and Mike killed it with that! Thanks for walking us through everything Mike...we knew our party was in good hands with you!

We used DJ Mike Bender and he was fabulous! We picked the company and him based on reviews and we couldn't have been happier with his services. Our guests of all ages were on their feet the whole night and everyone commented on what a great DJ he was. They were still raving about him the next day. He made the reception so much fun! He also did a great job as MC and with all of the introductions and special requests. I highly recommend both the company and Mike.

Our DJ, Rhett, did an amazing job at our wedding. We gave him some general guidelines and he chose an amazing playlist that kept the dance floor packed all night long. As my groom is Brazilian, he even got some Brazilian songs that we requested and did a great job integrating them with the other songs. The transitions were seamless and the announcements were well done. Overall great value!

We had a great experience from beginning to end when booking our DJ through Jay Maxwell's! My husband and I went to a wedding a year ago and had a wonderful time due in part to the DJ, Kevin Baltimore. We knew when we got engaged and began planning our own wedding that we wanted Kevin to be a part of it. We were not let down! Kevin was so easy to work with and definitely provided a fun atmosphere for our reception. The dance floor stayed packed through the end and our guests had a great time dancing the night away:) Because of the quality of services and the value when compared to other companies in the Charleston area, I definitely recommend Jay Maxwell's! We are so glad we went with Jay Maxwell’s Music by Request for our wedding DJ! We cannot thank them enough for helping make our wedding day perfect! We met Jay at a bridal show and was very pleased with his quickness to respond to all communications. Mike was our DJ and he was awesome! He got to know our tastes in music and made our wedding reception a ton of fun! Our dance floor was full from the time the music started to the very end of the night! My guests loved being able to request songs and Mike made sure there was a good variety! The anniversary dance was a huge hit that we continue to get compliments on! So glad we went with Jay Maxwell's Music By Request for our wedding! Working with DJ Mike from out of town was easy (we FaceTimed for our consultation) and his knowledge and skill showed by how smoothly our wedding went. I loved being able to only play requested songs, as we included it on our RSVP card. Mike went about and beyond to find music we specifically requested for our day that wasn't in their normal catalog (our guests loved having Postmodern Jukebox at the cocktail hour!) and we loved getting copies of our songs to keep and play at home. I couldn't imagine using anyone else as my DJ. Mike, Jay, and Donna epitomize quality and customer service...they rock!

Jay Maxwell and his company are extremely professional and easy to work with. From the beginning, they were prompt to answer emails and questions. We ended up hiring Jay Maxwell as our DJ because of his amazing reviews. We were an out of town couple, and Jay called us two weeks before our event to go over everything and make sure he knew what our vision was for the wedding music. He did an excellent job keeping the flow of the reception going. Our guests were on the dance floor through the last song, and seemed pretty bummed when the dance party was over at the end of the night.

Music by Request was awesome at our wedding! Our DJ was Kevin and he helped out a lot on the day of the wedding! We had to change some things last minute and he had no problem changing things. He also made sure everything was okay with us before he would move on to the next thing. He even got out on to the dance floor with us and he would do the line dances with us! He was great!

Jay Maxwell was our actual DJ! he was so amazingly talented. I had 165 guests at my wedding and trying to stay focused on the schedule was something i was not equipped to do. Jay kept me on schedule and kept the guests entertained. I wouldn't go with any other vendor because he knows what he is doing and helped me feel at ease during my big day.

Mike Bender was our DJ On March 21, 2015 at our wedding and our reception. Everyone enjoyed every thing he did. Not only did he do an awsome job with the music , he did an awsome job with all the introductions. Jay was awesome to work with. In our consultation, he was very friendly and easy to work with, he answered any and all questions. We purchased the Signature Package, with Jay himself as the DJ. He and Donna were both very responsive throughout the planning process. Jay was great during our meeting with him and made sure that we had all the details sorted out for his schedule. Jay even became familiar with artists we suggested that he didn't know in order to personalize the music for our wedding reception. He did a great job editing a song for us for one of the parent dances, and all the announcements and songs went off perfectly. Overall, we were very pleased and would definitely make the same decision again.

Jay Maxwell was AMAZING! I highly recommend. We paid for the package that had Jay come out to the wedding. We had a consultation and he noted everything that was important to us. I had so many people tell me at the wedding that it was the most fun and best reception they had been to and I largely contribute that to Jay. He chose music that kept everyone and all ages on the dance floor. We danced the night away and had a blast at our wedding reception.

Mike was awesome! Our wedding reception was electric all night, the dance floor stayed full, and we basically felt like we have a family friend up there putting on the show. Mike has a passion for music and it shows. During our meeting while planning the reception he and i bounced ideas off each other and added some cool details into the reception. I was so thankful for him. I spoke with several people in the company including Jay Maxwell, and they helped me choose the appropriate service for us. We went with the Platinum Premier Package. The tier hire was Jay Maxwell himself and although that sounded exciting, we felt like a DJ with 100+ wedding experience was good enough for us! You can't beat these prices either.
At one point I had a hard time getting connected with our DJ,Mike. Jay took it upon himself to make sure we got connected and he continued to follow up after that. It was really great customer service. The music selection book is awesome too! No need to search the internet for days, you'll have all the genres and playlist you need in that book!

DJ Dawjr was the absolute best! Dawjr was quick to respond and took the time to personally sit down with my husband and myself to talk about our wedding. He took the time to get to know us and understand our crowd. Dawjr's goal was to make us happy and play the kind of music we wanted and he did just that! My husband and I can not say enough good things about DJ Mike Bender. He is such a sweet guy and he is very easy to work with. He went above and beyond to answer our questions to help us with our music selections. We sent him a list of 80's 90's and 2000's and asked him to do a mash up of these songs. It was a huge hut and our guest stayed on the floor all night long. He also did an amazing job announcing as well. Mike we can not thank you enough, having you as our DJ was a great decision.

Yes, DJ Mike Bender delivered the WOW factor! My vibe of my ceremony elegant. The vibe of my reception was jumping. I met with DJ Mike about a few weeks before my big "10 Year Vow Renewal" celebration to discuss my vision and how I wanted my experience to be. I basically told him I wanted this to feel like an up scale party. I said I want people to party all night long, until it was time for the lights to go out. He did that and more. I had a couple of set backs during my reception, nothing that had to do with DJ Bender, but he took the initiative to move things along. If he noticed something off outside his duty he did whatever he could do to smooth things out. He was definitely the hit of the night. All my guest was so impressed with my DJ. They even raved about him days after. He is so professional, attentive, funny, entertaining, and the man got soul. He delivered the WOW and he was exceptional!!!!!!!!!!!

We hired Mike from Jay Maxwell's Music by Request to be our wedding DJ, and he did an amazing job! One of the great things about this vendor is that as soon as you book with them, Jay Maxwell sends you a packet full of popular songs that are categorized by genre and/or time period, so that you can be begin to look through them and choose what you think you may want to be played during your ceremony. They also provide you with a time line that is very simple and easy to fill out, so that you and your DJ know exactly when everything is taking place, which makes the flow of your ceremony go very smooth. All the DJs that work for this company are supposed to be very well trained & are very experienced and good at what they do. They certainly aim to please, all our guests said they had a fantastic time!

Jay was amazing!!! He helped with the music for both our ceremony and reception. His planning booklet for reception timeline and song choice ideas was incredibly helpful!! Everything ran so perfectly!
I would definitely recommend Jay Maxwell! He definitely made our party a success!

The DJ was amazing and the price was even better. I had no issues with their professionalism, timing or anything. I wish I was getting married again so that I could use them again!

We loved loved loved Jay and his assistant. Everything ran perfectly throughout the night. Jay went above and beyond in helping us not only with our music but with some other things that popped up through the night. I could not give a higher recommendation. One of the best decisions we made for our celebration was hiring Jay Maxwell!

Our DJ was Dawjr (pronounced dodger). He was very good with our crowd and picked great music to get people up and dancing. He was very flexible with our plans and kept the night moving. He was super friendly and they even entertained the kids some too. Their set up was perfect for such a large venue.

Jay Maxwell's Music by Request did a fantastic job at my wedding! Jay and Donna were a pleasure to work with, both are very personable and professional. Rhett was our DJ and he was awesome! From the first meeting with him, my husband and I knew he was going to deliver the type of music and dancing atmosphere we wanted! Rhett is very experienced and knows just what to play to keep your guests on the dancefloor. Come to think of it, my guests barely left the dancefloor at all! He knows his music, especially rock and roll :) He also has one of the best DJ voices I've ever heard! He was so fun to work with and he definitely made our night perfect, thank you Rhett!

Mike Bender with Jay Maxwell's Music by Request was absolutely AMAZING! I could not have asked for a more perfect DJ for my big day! He was very flexible when scheduling our initial meeting, and was very fun, upbeat, and enthusiastic about my big day and music selections! He was a blast to have around, played all of our requests (even the odd ball ones we were worried no one could find), as well as our guests requests during the reception. He played the right music at the perfect time (slower music during dinner, and upbeat, faster music later in the night). He kept the crowd engaged and kept the party going all night. There was never a dull moment! He was very kind, professional, and fun. I chose the basic package, but felt like I was given the works! I recommend this company and Mike Bender to all brides!

I wasn't going to hire a DJ, I was just going to make our own playlists. We were really trying to keep a casual, intimate vibe and didn't want a "DJ personality" getting in the way of that. But, it turns out, it's pretty expensive to rent speakers for your own playlists and we found Jay Maxwell and I figured what the hell.

Jason Brewer DJed our event, he called me ahead of time and walked through the reception with me. He listened to what we wanted and gave useful suggestions and really came through during the event. He was super easy to work with and I really never had to worry about the music (which is what we all want right?). He played exactly the style we wanted (which was quite eclectic I might add - some Leon Russell, some 90s country, with a little daft punk and bluegrass on the side) - somehow Jason made it all work and flow together.

He made some announcements for me, but stayed true to his promise to let the music do most of the talking. The volume was perfect through the whole event (for the toasts and the music). I really didn't think we had many dancers in the family - but people danced all night, including some people that I had never seen dance before. I told him the most important thing for me was that it be "cross-generational" so everyone could have fun and he could not have pulled that off better. When the planner started pressuring him to break down, he checked with me and was able to play a few extra songs to finish the night off right.

I highly recommend this business and Jason himself, they were responsive and thoughtful and came at a great value. With all the crazy costs of a wedding, I really felt like I got my money's worth on this one.

Our DJ, Dawjr Wood, definitely delivered the WOW!!! What a great fit for our wedding. Everything from the initial meeting to the reception was top notch. We couldn't of asked for a better DJ.

Mike Bender DJ\'ed our wedding on Kiawah Island. He was absolutely fantastic. People kept telling us that they have never danced so much at a wedding. Mike did a great job running the entire show and Jay Maxwell\'s group was so organized that there was never cause for concern. I would definitely recommend Jay Maxwell to anyone looking for a DJ in the Charleston area, and if you can get Mike Bender, consider yourself very lucky!!

We could not have been happier with the quality service Kalib with Jay Maxwell's provided us for our wedding reception. He was attentive to our requests and gave great feedback about how to help the evening flow and what songs might be good ones to select. Kalib's work ethic and talent enriched our reception and kept us, and our guests on the dance floor!

Jay Maxwell's Music by Request made everything so easy! Planning a wedding proved to be one of the most stressful things I've ever done and Jay Maxwell's made everything so easy. Picking our music and meeting with our DJ to plan everything was the easiest part of it all. Our DJ, Kalib Moyer, kept the party going until the very last guest left our reception. I could not have asked for a better DJ and would reccomend Jay Maxwell's to anyone : )

Jay Maxwell's Music by Request was awesome, very professional and very organized. Our DJ, Ron Pringle, was fabulous. Everyone loved him and he knew how to get the party going, and made our wedding and reception flow fabulously. I would definitely recommend them to anyone getting married! They had much more affordable options that many of the other DJ services in town.

The reception went so smooth and the DJ meet with us several weeks prior and just made the planning so easy. He stayed in contact almost everyday to check on everything and gave suggestions for music and entrance and exit. He truly made this so easy and relaxing for us. Have suggested to many friends and will use again and again!
