Perfectly Captured Memories

Jana was so kind and full of great energy. She was just excited as I was for my special day which meant a lot. She took amazing professional photos for our little wedding and captured all the best moments perfectly. Jana is the BEST!!

Hiring Jana Marie Photography was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding. From the moment we had our first meeting, I knew she was the perfect fit to capture our wedding day. I always told her I wanted our day authentically captured and she did just that! When I look back at my wedding pictures I can feel all the emotions in the pictures - joy, happiness, excitement, happy tears, and laughter. Jana made my husband and I feel so comfortable and confident in front of the camera (and really throughout the entire process). She was SO much fun to work with and such a ray of sunshine! She has a way of engaging with you and knows exactly how to capture all the big and small moments in your wedding day. She gave us so many sneak peeks we were able to look at while on our honeymoon and then our entire gallery within one month!! She was an absolute rockstar! Thank you Jana for giving us pictures we will cherish forever!! I'm sad we don't have more events to hire you for because I'd hire you over and over again! Absolutely fabulous photographer

Jana was our photographer for our destination wedding in December of 2020. I am so glad we splurged to get her. She was able to attend our wedding excursion, wedding ceremony & wedding reception. Since she attended all of our wedding events, I did not have to stress with taking pictures at all. I was able to enjoy my time with my family and friends because I knew she was taking photos and would document everything! She was well worth the extra penny. She was pretty much part of our family by the end of the trip and our families can be a handful. Thank you Jana for all our absolutely wonderful wedding pictures.

Highly Recommend!

We decided to bring Jana Marie Photography to Mexico with us for our destination wedding. This is one of the best decisions we made in our wedding planning. Jana was able to capture great photos of our family and friends during our wedding festivities. We did not have to worry about taking pictures to capture the memories as we knew that Jana would get great shots. She was able to attend our group excursion along with our welcome bonfire. We would highly recommend Jana Marie Photography for any type of photos.

Timeless photos!

Jana came into our lives by chance, after our original photographer had a scheduling conflict. In the midst of COVID, she was an angel in disguise. Not only was she willing to have numerous calls with us to ease our nerves, she was so professional and cheerful each time we 'met'. I knew the first time I had an hour long video chat with her that she was going to be the perfect person to capture our special day. It has been just under a month since our wedding, and she already has all of our photos posted for us. We had sneak peek's within a few days! A few of our favorite things about the photos she takes is that they don't have any weird colored filters on them, she has an assistant with her to capture those 'candid' moments we so cherish, they are so natural and timeless, and all of the photos tell the story of our day. Even the traditional "posed" photos did not feel awkward to shoot and look amazing. I could write a novel about how fantastic she is. You will never regret booking with her. She genuinely cares about her clients and is the best in the business. We will definitely be using her services again in the future!

Amazinf Quality and Amazing Pricing!

We were both so happy that we chose JanaMarie Photography to preserve our wedding in photos. Not only was Jana very easy and professional to work with, but we were impressed with how unobtrusively she worked and yet she captured everything perfectly! Guests commented on how she noticed everything significant from cute kid antics to special moments between bride and groom and family. She didn't miss a thing, and I was excited today to hear how much my dad enjoyed the pictures. He couldn’t attend the wedding because he cares for my invalid mother. The pictures made him feel like he had been there and it was such a good capturing of the family members that he purchased the entire download. One of the nice surprises was the cost. We felt we got an amazing price on both the photography and the download for the amount and quality of the work that was done. We had gone on her website and loved the work she did on other weddings, and we were not disappointed with the wonderful quality of work which will preserve our moments forever.

Would highly recommend!

Jana is such a talented photographer! Her work really speaks for itself. She took both our engagement and wedding photos this summer. They turned out better than we would have ever expected. My husband and I can be pretty reserved, but Jana had a way of making us feel so comfortable in front of the camera. Jana captured details of our day that I had no idea I would even want captured! It was so much fun looking through our photos and seeing little moments she caught without realizing she was even there. Her assistant photographer, Candace, was amazing too. They were both so friendly, flexible, and professional- I would highly recommend working with Jana!

The best photographer EVER!

We originally came across Jana's page at the beginning of our wedding planning process. Her packages were a little bit above our budget so we searched long and hard to find a photographer comparable to her style and quality. After spending countless hours and interviewing 4 other photographers we decided to look back into Jana because no one seemed to add up to what she offered. We decided to increase our photography budget and book Jana. It was one of the best decisions we made for our big day! When my made of honor and I met with Jana prior to the wedding we talked for hours, drank coffee and laughed. I immediately felt at ease in her hands. She is the sweetest, most caring and genuine person and it shows throughout the entire process from planning to post wedding. She encouraged me to get shots that I thought were over the top or took much hassle on my wedding day, including bringing my cat to the photography site to include her in our wedding photos. She also carried my husbands sweaty shoes all over tp multiple stops that we made to take photos and she never batted an eye. Like I said she is AMAZING! The turn around for our full album was so quick! We received about 240 sneak peak photos the day after our wedding and we received our full album during the Honeymoon, less than a week later! I would highly recommend Jana. She will capture the most amazing photos and make you feel beautiful every step of the way!

Best Day of My Life

ana met us for the first time with a warm embrace. We cancelled the rest of our meetings with other photographers. Her husband and her make a magificent duo. The photos were better than I could have ever imagined! We were so excited to get our albums. Jana made sure that My husband and I had alone time for us on our special day. Jana was amazing. Her personality is infectious and she has so much fun doing what she loves. Of course this shows in her work!

I met Jana at the Indie Bridal show in Kansas City, MO and knew she had to be my photographer when I first saw her pictures. She had a book of her wedding which was in Grand Lake, Colorado (The same place I was getting married!) It was fate! Jana traveled with us to Colorado and photographed my rehearsal and wedding. We also used here photo booth company Bananawho and had a airstream trailer photo booth. Guests loved this!

Jana's passion for adventure lead us to the best pictures. She convinced us to drive to the top of Trailridge pass (the highest driveable highway in the country) for the most breath taking shots.

Thanks Jana for making life long memories with us!

If I could give Jana 10 stars - I WOULD! When we started planning our wedding, having a great photographer was in the top 3 on my list of what was most important to us. I have never been the type who is comfortable getting photos taken of myself, let alone posing for photos (and same with my husband) but she made this incredibly easy for us! She is so easy going, personable, outgoing and funny - that it's hard for you to not instantly connect to her and feel more relaxed and at ease on your big day. Jana is very professional and extremely talented and we feel so lucky that she was our photographer on the biggest day of our lives! :)

Jana did a fabulous job capturing our special day! She was a pro about being at the right place at the right time (without us even realizing she was there) and captured so many beautiful ‘in the moment’ moments that my husband and I didn’t even realize were happening. Having a great photographer was very important to me. So much special detail goes into your wedding day to personalize it and make it completely about you and your other half as well as your family and friends. While these details are beautiful, personal and or delicious, most details and events are only remembered or recognized on that day. By investing in a great photographer, we can now relive the special moments, memories and details with beautiful photos we will cherish forever.

We loved Jana the moment we met her about a year ago, and we love her even more after seeing the photos she captured of our wedding. The advice I would give to any couple looking for a photographer is MEET JANA MARIE!!!!!!!! We had visited with 3 other photographers and when we met her we were sold.

Here is what I sent Jana after receiving our wedding pictures.

"Oh my gosh!!!!! I am in love. I don't know what I am more in love with you, Ryan or the pictures :) Ha Ha Ha....yes there were still some that I was like EEEEKKKK what was that facial expression that I was making, or why does my hair look funky...but there were some absolutely beautiful pictures. I looked at them this morning and I felt beautiful. It was you and my surroundings that made me feel that way. I was surrounded by some of the best people....HA HA HA including my brother. (Gosh I love him). I am a blessed person who tries to remember to not take anything for granted in life. I always want to appear genuine, sincere and show people how thankful I am to have them in my life. Jana, you captured all of that. I don't want to come across as cheesy, but you captured moments that I couldn't fake. I love the pictures with my girls. I love that Mandy's daughter wanted to be in every pic. I loved that mini sometimes and sometimes not want to cooperate (granted she had a 103 temperature at the reception :( ) I love that Ryan cried when he got his dads ring. It truly made him feel so special. I love that you captured us being goofballs, but could see the genuine love we have for each other. I love that my cousin did a handstand for our funny pic.....LOL LOL LOL. She cracks me up!! But I love that's what makes her who she is and we were able to capture that moment. I remember thinking "hmmm where am supposed to look and how do you want me to hold your leg in this split position...LOL!!!! I am sorry as I type this up to go on and on and on. Oh, Jana!! Hands down the best investment we could have made! Photography was absolutely my top priority while wedding planning. We met with several amazing photographers, but when my fiancé, mother and I went to meet with her I was so nervous. I so wanted her to like us and agree to be our photographer! We sat down with Jana Marie at her home studio and we were blown away. Her professionalism, joyful attitude, style, and attention to detail were just a few of the things that made us walk away from that first consult knowing she was absolutely going to be our photographer. Her work speaks for itself - she produces the most amazing photos that are light and fresh, vibrant, artistic, meaningful, emotional, and stunning.

We were able to include a Beloved session, because we booked Good Earth Floral and we completely recommend doing the engagement session. My hubby and I initially felt that we could "take it or leave it", but during our session we let each other know just how glad we were to be doing it. Jana Marie made us feel so comfortable and created a safe space full of laughs and special moments. On the day we got our photos done, it had thunderstormed and was over 100 degrees. Her positivity (despite the less-than-ideal conditions haha) was contagious and we had a blast. Upon her encouragement we brought some things to set up a stylized picnic, and she joined us on the blanket following our shoot and we felt as if we had been long-time friends with her. When we got those photos back, I could not stop smiling! Her eye for beauty and capturing emotion is rare and worth every cent.

As the big day approached, we had another in-person meeting with Jana to review the plan for the day-of. She worked closely with our Month-of-Coordinator to finalize the schedule and have us work on shot lists and any important or unique/special things we wanted to capture. This all helped the day go so smoothly and Peter and I did not have to worry about a thing.

Jana Marie was my photographer at my wedding this past summer and she is well worth it. The photos were beyond what I could have hoped for and she seemed to be able to catch every detail and emotion. Her photography tells a story about her subjects and she told ours how we saw the day unfold. From start to finish she was present for every moment. And the best part, you wouldn't have even known she was there. Her and her rockstar husband Philip are so gracious and poised that they blend in with the guests. They make everyone feel comfortable and had the entire family laughing.

I would definitely recommend splurging for the BananaWho? Photobooth as well. It was the biggest hit at the wedding by far. And everyone gets to take a picture home with them as well as one for the bride & groom. I laughed so hard I had tears in my eyes looking through the photos.

Overall if you want a photographer who will make you laugh, take beyond beautiful photos and be there when you need it and behind the scenes when you don't then you need to hire Jana Marie Photography. You will not be disappointed!

Jana Marie did an amazing job capturing our wedding day! We got married in December in Kansas City and one thing that I absolutely wanted to do was get some pictures taken on the Plaza. Jana went to the Plaza before our wedding day and found the best spots for us in order to truly capture the Christmas atmosphere with the lights on the Plaza! Our entire wedding party was so complimentary of her work and her personality on our wedding day, she was so upbeat and friendly, I didn't have anything to worry about! We were anxious to find a photographer who could capture our destination wedding as a week of fun festivities, not just one day. Jana did that and more. I highly recommend Jana for anyone looking for outstanding wedding photography! We loved our wedding photos because they are so natural. Neither my husband nor I are comfortable in front of a camera, but Jana had a way of putting us at ease. We really just forgot we were being photographed and were able to bask in one another and the special day, and Jana captured that with her camera. Her fun, infectious personality put everyone in our family and bridal party at ease, too. We also appreciated that Jana listened to what was important to us and made it happen. Our wedding day was such a blur, and it was a relief to know that Jana was ensuring we'd have all the pictures we wanted. Jana also designed our wedding photo book. She photographed our engagement and wedding photos, and she was wonderful to work with from start to finish! Jana is laid back, fun, and easy to get along with, but very professional at the same time. Neither my husband or I really enjoy being photographed, so we were definitely looking for someone to tell us what to do but without being too directive. We could tell before even hiring her from looking at her blog that she was so naturally creative in her photography.

Also, Jana is very connected in the KC wedding business and I asked her advice in hiring several other wedding vendors and am so happy I did! There are so many options out there, it is great to have some guidance from someone who has been involved with the wedding process so many times.

We love love love the way our pictures turned out. I didn't believe it when everybody warned me, but really our whole wedding was such a blur and flew by so quickly. I am so happy we had a great photographer to capture all of the wonderful moments and details so we can remember them forever!

I know that picking a photographer was one of my toughest decisions as a bride. Just FYI, if you're looking for a budget photographer, Jana is not it! However, I personally felt that it was well worth it to spend more on a great photographer and save on other details. Although she was definitely not the cheapest option, I felt like I got the quality of a much more expensive photographer for the price!

Jana has been our photographer for infant photo sessions and family portrait sessions over the course of 4 years. She is incredibly talented and flexible, with an ability to transform an ordinary environment into extraordinary photographic results. My husband and I hired Jana to photograph our destination wedding in beautiful Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. The decision to fly in our own photographer was a difficult one but, we knew Jana's work and didn't want to sacrifice one moment of our wedding experience. To say we were pleased with our decision would be an immense understatement. Jana did my fiance and I's pictures this past week on Friday, and the pictures were already posted online on SUNDAY! TWO DAYS!! We had a wonderful time looking through our pictures with our friends and family. So many complimented her photography skills, and how natural they are. Where to begin. Jana is one of the most amazing and talented photographers that I have ever had the opportunity to work with. I have admiration for Jana in so many ways. She is my co-worker, my inspiration builder, my friend, and recently was my wedding photographer. Jana's passion for life, love, and cherishable moments is addictive and ultimately reflected in our wedding photos. Anyone can point and click, but no one can do it like she does. Our photos literally jump off the pages.

Jana is simply incredible! Her work is nothing but that as well. I scheduled a shoot for my family as a Mother's Day gift to my mom and the experience was nothing short of fun, easy, and simple. My family had a great time getting to know Jana and she had all of us laughing! Our pictures turned out better than we could have hoped for. We had a hard time choosing which ones to print!

We had the most amazing experience with Jana...from the first time I met with her, through our engagement (Beloved) photos, our wedding day, and afterwards! She has been wonderful to work with and her talent is amazing.

When I was looking for a photographer, I looked at several blogs/websites/profiles of photographers in the area, and I kept coming back to her photographs. Jana is by far THE best photographer I have ever come in contact with. I am confident in saying that because my entire experience with her was absolutely amazing. From the beginning, she has been so encouraging and thoughtful: from the emails at the start to set up a time to meet each other, to booking our date, to our Beloved Session, to meeting a week before our wedding to iron out details, to our perfect wedding day, Jana was the sweetest and most detail-oriented photographer I ever could have found.

In an email to her two months after our wedding, I wrote this: "I started journaling about our entire day right after the wedding. When I went back a month later, I looked at the list of things I still wanted to write about, and I started realizing that everything I wanted to say was already documented in pictures. While looking for a photographer for our wedding we had a difficult time finding exactly what we wanted for our engagement secession, destination wedding and reception. We learned about Jana through a friend and after seeing their wedding photo's we knew we had to meet her. When we met with her she showed us some pictures from previous weddings that she had done and we talked about what we were looking for. We knew she was perfect for what we were looking for. We did our beloved session in the fall of 2011 and the pictures turned out beautiful! Jana also spent a week with our family in Mexico during our destination wedding in August of 2012. She became family during our trip! During the entire process she was very flexible and overall she is a very talented artist. We were so happy with the quality of the pictures and the uniqueness of Jana's work. She is a wonderful person and makes you feel at ease. I met Jana in college, so I knew I loved her personality and creativity. Naturally, I've browsed through her blogs over the years because I just love seeing all her wonderful photographs. I first hired Jana for a family session for my parent's 25th wedding anniversary. She was fantastic, always making my family comfortable and giving us suggestions on how to move and pose. When my dad was about 45 min late, she acted like it was no problem and just took mother-daughter and mother-son pictures until he arrived. Plus we have amazing family pictures all over the house now :)

Jana is such a hardworking friend and photographer. She hid in the rose bushes during my husband's proposal and then hopped out to capture closer pictures after he proposed! I was completely surprised. Talk about a dedicated photographer! Obviously we chose to work with Jana for our engagement and wedding pictures. We had to reschedule the engagement pictures 3 times, and she even spent the night at my husband's family's house and woke up at 6:30am to take pictures while it was cool. What Jana wouldn't do for fabulous photos, I just don't know!

And finally, Jana made our wedding day even more perfect. She captured every special moment, even ones I didn't know she saw! She directed the wild wedding party through the wedding pictures, and whipped through pictures with my humongous family like it was nothing. And all the pictures are perfectly amazing!

All I can say is that I will be using Jana for all my special occasions and recommend her to everyone who wants beautiful, creative, and fun photographs of their precious moments!

Jana took mine and my soon-to-be husbands photos a few weeks ago - I can not say enough positive things about her. She has excellent knowledge of her equipment, but also has excellent perceptivity for people and reactions. We loved her from the beginning, but absolutely became head-over-heels after we saw the {Beloved} session posted online. I will absolutely refer her as one of my preferred vendors to my 2013 brides.

Jana was just amazing-- a few minutes after meeting her, I knew she was the person I would LOVE to have spend the day of my wedding with my (now) husband and I. Her photography is just amazing-- the quality and quantity of images is above and beyond. And such a great value.
Aside from that, Jana is just creative and flexible. My husband was dreading having pictures done (and usually refuses to smile for photos)-- after getting our engagement photos back, my husband was actually EXCITED to have our picture taken at the wedding. She made us laugh and because of that, we got so many genuine smiles and laughs-- lots of candid shots that are so touching and meaningful.

Jana Marie of Jana Maries Photography is a bride's dream come true. She recently shot my son's wedding and she was nothing short of fantastic! She took almost 900 photos but we were barely aware she was there she was so unobtrusive. When it came time for the family photos--a process like herding cats--she was cheerful and accommodating to all the requests and quick and efficient. This after the wedding party had been shooting their pix outside in the 98-degree heat/98-degree humidity for more than 2 hours. She couldn't control the weather but she sure made the best of that part too and the finished photos betrayed no signs of undue perspiration. The quality of her photos speaks for itself, but what I appreciate most and think any bride would, is how personal she made the photos. She captured the essence of the wedding couple and all her photos allowed the individuals' personality to shine forth. I liked the fun, casual poses as much as the formal ones. She went above and beyond to include the little touches of a wedding, too, for symbolic value (closeup still-life-looking vignettes of the flowers, accessories, place cards, shoes, etc.)--the ones the bride and groom have thought so hard about to make the wedding truly yours. Her photos then tell a complete and magnificent story of the fairy tale day in sharp, vivid photographs everyone can treasure. Hire her now!

Jana has a natural talent. She can see the beauty in everything. I have seen shots that I would have never imagined. Many are just simply breathtaking. Jana was AMAZING! I would recommend her to anyone. She was fun to work with and had some creative ideas that I've never seen before. This was really important to me because I didn't want my wedding photos to look like all of my friends with the same stuffy poses.

She was so easy to work with and was enthusiastic about being at our wedding to capture every special moment - from getting ready, to our sparkler sendoff at the end of the reception - where other photographers charged crazy prices per hour for anything more than a few hours. Jana was phenomenal to work with. She was engaging and energetic and made our wedding day so enjoyable. But more than anything - her photographs were absolutely perfect. She did such an amazing job capturing our day and finding the best shots. I couldn't be happier with our decision to hire Jana as she was top-notch in every way. 100% recommend her and plan to hire her again in the future for other events.

Jana was incredibly fun and easy to work with. Her enthusiasm and joy made her a great person to have with us on our special day. Your photographer is with you for most of your wedding day, therefore making it very important to find someone who is reliable, knowledgeable, and fun. We found that in Jana and couldn't be more pleased with our experience with her on our wedding day. She helped make our day even more special. She was also very timely in getting our photos to us after the wedding.

Jana Marie Photography Is the best in the business. She is extremely attentive to details and the wishes of the bride and groom. Her recommendations for wedding vendors were extremely helpful in planning. I met with her 1.5 years before my wedding day and she talked me through the whole process. You need to book early, she fills up her schedule quickly, but definitely devotes personal attention to every wedding. Jana's ability to juggle our wedding day schedule with ease was much appreciated. Her photos are absolutely gorgeous. We felt comfortable with her all day long and we were thrilled to see our wedding pictures-- she posted some of them during our honeymoon! Absolutely the best choice in Kansas City and beyond.

One of the best!

I cannot express enough how amazing Jana is! I’ve known her personally since high school, and have followed her photography work since she started her business. I’ve been amazed at her talent throughout the years and admired her wedding photography, so it was an easy choice when it came time for us to hire a wedding photographer. The one thing I really wanted in a photographer was to feel comfortable and at ease throughout the process. Jana makes you feel so energized and beautiful in front of the camera! She’s funny and has really creative ideas for getting you to laugh and be natural. She was also so good with photographing our two (very uncooperative) dogs! :) The dogs did not want to look at the camera and Jana managed to capture the most perfect photos of the four of us. We’d highly recommend her again and again!

We used Jana Maries Photography for a family portrait session. She was wonderful to work with and made us all feel very comfortable. She was amazing at getting our 2 yr old son to cooperate. I couldn't believe how many truly amazing photographs came from that shoot. It was so difficult to choose which ones to hang up in our house!

Disappointed

I do NOT recommend Jana Marie photography.

The old saying, "you get what you pay for," is not correct in this instance. Jana Marie Photography was our most expensive and difficult vendor to work with during and after our wedding. We wrote positives reviews for all of our other vendors.
When working with Jana Marie Photography, we paid almost $5,000 for sub-par photographs and a consultation that left us without photos we really wanted. Here are some of the main reasons I wouldn't recommend using Jana Marie Photography:

1. We had a game plan going into our wedding regarding the shots we really wanted. Jana Marie talked us out of them on the day of our wedding (e.g., photos of us overlooking downtown and sunset photos). Then, she tried to say that we had made the choice to opt out of those the day of our wedding.

2. Communication was confusing, spotty, and unprofessional. There were multiple email addresses that we were given to communicate with during this process. It was nearly impossible to get on the phone with her. When we finally got a call scheduled, she did not show up.

3. The post-wedding support left us feeling like we were an afterthought. Initially, Jana Marie repeatedly told us, these are your photos and you have to look at them for the rest of your life so I want them to be perfect for you.
However, we were unhappy with most of the photos. When we asked Jana Marie to fix them, she would downplay our concerns to the point of saying she would not make the changes. To have adjustments made, she would have charged us more money even for the photos we had already purchased through her.

Jana Marie Photography repeatedly overpromised and under delivered. Please beware before choosing to sign a contract with Jana Marie Photography. Save yourself money and a lot of headaches by choosing a different, more reliable photographer.
