James was exactly what we wanted and more

Looking for a videographer in the beginning was a little daunting. Most that provided editing and "movies" were very expensive and some charged extra for all of our footage. I feel lucky that we found James. He does no editing, but provides all the raw footage and at a reasonable price. You can also edit it yourself or pay someone to do so, but at least you will always have ALL of your footage. He met in-person and he gave us great vibes. He arrived at the wedding and he did not just have 1 camera, but 4. We ended up with lots of footage from multiple angles. He was running around filming everything for 8hrs. He worked hard and stayed kind and humble the entire time. He worked well with the photographers. He had nothing but kind words to say to us. When our footage was delivered it even came with a hand written letter. The videos were very high quality. Like we had our own movie production team. You will not regret hiring James.

Great Videographer

Go to experience James’ work at my sisters wedding, and had to hire him for mine the following year. I love that he gives raw footage so you can see everything. He’s a one man team but he uses multiple camera to catch multiple angles, and he captured little things that otherwise would’ve been unnoticed. He was also very quick about sending us the footage. Great Value, Great Quality, Great Videographer. Thank you James!!

James gets it done!

We loved having James film our wedding. For just one guy, he was everywhere! He is a raw footage only videographer but one of my sisters is a film director and agreed to edit our film as a wedding gift. We loved the idea, the cost and James did us right. He was a total pleasure to work with and got into the WeddingFest theme we had for our big day. I am happy to refer him!

James was professional and kind in all aspects of capturing our day. He filmed both our Sangeet/Rehearsal Dinner and wedding the following day and got us all the raw footage one week later. AMAZING in every way!!

James is amazing! He is incredibly professional, kind and such a wonderful videographer!! We loved the fact that the film was unedited - it helped us see and hear things that we hadn't throughout the day. We had lots of laughs and "omg, I didn't know that happened" moments. We got the unedited film quickly in the mail and watched parts of our day over and over again. The video is high quality too of course :) we high recommend James!!

Exactly what we were looking for!

He was great to work with for our wedding! He was professional, his set up was impressive, and was quick to get us the raw video after the wedding. We had a larger wedding planned that went through a lot of changes during the pandemic and James took all those changes in stride. We would definitely recommend him!

So many angles of our wedding day!

We are so happy we went with James for our wedding videography! It has been so much fun looking through all the footage of moments that we didn't see and multiple angles of our ceremony and reception. James was great to work with, so nice, and literally filmed every thing on our wedding day! I didn't see videography as a must have item because I was so used to seeing the short 5 minute clips that have become popular, however there were so many moments during the night where I thought "I'm so glad this is on video!". We love that we have all the raw footage, so we will be able to pick and choose what we want to go in our final wedding video and put it together ourselves. Would definitely recommend James if you are looking for a documentation type of videographer, and then you can make your video what you really want! Thanks so much, James!

Great Videographer!

James was a pleasure to work with for our Wedding! He captured all of the angles of our wedding and everything that we wanted. We have all of the footage to re-live our special day and that is exactly what we were looking for. We received the footage very quickly in the mail along with a handwritten thank you card.

Friendly and professional!

I didn't even plan on having a videographer at my wedding on June 22, but my parents wanted it and found James. And honestly, I was shocked by how much I genuinely enjoyed having him there, and how many times throughout the night I thought 'I'm so glad this is on video.'

James was VERY friendly and professional. I heard him talking to the photographers to work out the best way for them to cover the event, and he was always around but never in the way. I will say--if you're not used to cameras, it does feel a little funny at first! My husband joked that when dances/toasts first started, he felt like we were hosting a press conference. But the cameras fade into the background very quickly, and James was actively managing them (moving things around so nothing was ever in the way, monitoring the dancing for anything that would make a good shot). He will make sure to ask the bride/groom on camera about anything special you are wearing (I had a handkerchief made from my mother's wedding dress), which I thought was really nice. He will also tactfully step in and out of the getting ready area so that he captures some of the hustle and bustle but isn't in the room when you're trying to get into your dress. That wasn't something I had thought about ahead of time, so I was glad James knew what he was doing!

I'm excited to get our uncut footage--I can't wait to play with it.

Professional Videographer

Amazing, fun, laidback

James was an absolutely amazing videographer and he captured absolutely every single moment that we could have asked for and then some. He is extremely laid-back and fun and easy to talk to and made us really comfortable in front of the camera. He is really great and wonderful one I definitely recommend him to anyone who is having a wedding or an event that they would like to have captured and look at for the rest of their lives. I'm telling you it is worth it and he is absolutely amazing and his work is phenomenal.

We looked for a videographer a couple of weeks before my daughter's wedding; she was having some beautiful music during the wedding Mass, and we wanted to record. it. We contacted James Ryan Films, and were delighted at his services and rates - raw video was exactly what we were looking for. I was very pleased that he worked to make quality videography affordable. (Our rate included a travel fee - he traveled about 3 hours for our event, so the fee was very reasonable. He did a most professional job at both the Mass and the reception - we actually had him stay an extra hour, for a total of 5 hours. He delivered the video promptly after the wedding. I would recommend this vendor without hesitation.

James was absolutely wonderful to work with! He is so professional and makes you feel comfortable in front of a camera. It’s a weird thing to have a camera on you all day but James was very discrete and made sure to keep us updated while working with the photographers schedule. His price is great, especially with all the running around he did for 9+ hours! James was also kind enough to unexpectedly extend his hours (my husband had a surprise horse drawn carriage at the end of the night and asked James if he could extend his time to capture it) - definitely worth the extra time! We received our films very quickly about a week or so after the wedding. I highly recommend James Ryan Films - especially if you’re trying to stay within your budget or if you are a DIY bride who can do your own editing!

I could not have been more pleased with my decision to use James to video our big day. He was extremely professional throughout the day, managing multiple cameras and microphones with no problem. James was able to work with our budget to provide us with some great footage and wonderful memories. The biggest surprise was coming home from our honeymoon 9 days after the wedding and our wedding video was waiting for us upon our return. It doesn't get much better than that!

James was absolutely wonderful. I so appreciated his coming all the way down to Charlotte for us. We got our footage back so quickly and had the BEST time watching it! The whole day was such a whirlwind, so watching the footage helped us remember things we had completely forgotten about. There were things caught on film that are truly priceless and we will treasure it forever.

Our non profit reached out to James on short notice to have a medical class the we were teaching to be recorded. He couldn't have been more accommodating or easier to work with. He was at the event early, stayed later then he needed to and delivered an amazing quality product.

I can't say enough about how impressed we were with James. We called him last minute, just one week from our wedding day, as a shot in the dark -- and he was available! He was the only videographer out of 10-15 calls that I made who responded to me the same day. Not only that, but he drove a significant way to be there for us on our Saturday wedding, even though he was scheduled for another wedding the next day (and the modest travel stipend he asked for was well worth having him). The professionalism, quick responsiveness, flexibility, and friendly demeanor of this videographer was more than we could have hoped for. We haven't viewed our footage yet, but if it's any reflection of James' work ethic and passion we know it will be top-notch. Thank you James for adding so much to our wedding memories! We can't wait to see the raw footage. We highly, highly recommend.

I'm so glad we booked James as our videographer. It was something I definitely wanted but some of the prices were outrageous. Although the material isn't edited together, we still loved it! We got to see each detail that he captured versus what someone who edited it wanted us to see. We hardly even noticed he was there. Receiving our video was very fast. We had it the week after the wedding and have enjoyed all of the footage ever since!

He was very generous and easy to work with, especially during the interview section of the video. I run a digital marketing firm in the San Francisco Bay area. I had a need for a videographer to shoot a corporate testimonial in Virginia. James was great! He responded quickly to my inquiry and answered all questions in a professional manner. Very easy to work with, we never felt like he was in the way at all and we really didn't see him much although the footage he shot proved otherwise! James was absolutely AMAZING. He has an artistic eye for detail and memory-making. We love the raw footage we received. He was available and very flexible with my random early morning wedding. The best part about James, aside from the talent, was that you barely knew he was there whatsoever even though he had great lighting and multiple cameras set up. I am in awe of his discreet skill and great service. You can tell that he truly loves what he does. We received our video footage very fast. James, you are wonderful and very appreciated. James was amazing! He was with me all day and captured all of those small moments you forget about! A total professional and the raw footage was excellent! My husband and I spent our anniversary reviewing all of the raw footage and he really enjoyed getting to see video from the first part of the day where he wasn't present. Beautiful and affordable hi-def film coverage! I got the footage the following week as both a DVD and computer file on a flash drive. He was so friendly, professional, and efficient!! The footage is raw so you can edit it yourself, but the picture quality was beautiful. He captured some amazing moments! I will get to watch our vows each year on our anniversary and remember what a special ceremony it was.

We had a great experience with James! He was incredibly responsive, responding to all of my emails very promptly. And the value can't be beat! He gave us the recorded tapes the day after the wedding, and even after having them converted to DVDs, we still saved a significant amount of money. Plus, I love the sentimentality of having all of our raw footage, not just what the videographer deems relevant. James was incredibly professional, not at all intrusive, and very pleasant to work with. He did a great job!

We had a great time working with James. He was extremely friendly and quick to respond during the booking process. On our wedding day, he was very discreet and captured all kinds of wonderful moments that would have otherwise been a blur in our memories. We were very happy with the footage we received - the picture and sound were great.

We were apprehensive about hiring a videographer at first because our budget was very tight, but James wasn't too expensive as he just shot raw footage and gave it to us at the end of our day. We had fun editing the video ourselves and showing it to our friends and family. All in all, James was well worth the investment. We would definitely use him again and recommend him to anyone!

My husband and I weren't sure we wanted a wedding video. My parents said they would cover the cost, so we went for it. We didn't have a whole lot to spend, so we were glad we found James. James shot the video and gave us the footage the same day, so it wasn't nearly as expensive as hiring someone to shoot and edit the entire video. We are really happy with the video (although we haven't edited it yet). James captured lots of candid moments and got shots of every guest. There were some people who couldn't make our wedding, including my grandparents, who I'm glad we'll be able to show the video to. I really can't say anything negative about our experience with James. He was professional and friendly and the video will be a wonderful keepsake to show our future children!

James was great and easy to work with for our wedding. I really wanted video footage of our wedding, but our budget was tight. James provided a perfect service by videoing the wedding for a very affordable price. His services just covered videoing the wedding, and he gave us the tapes directing from the video camera that night, so we didn't pay for any sort of editing, just the raw footage. That worked well for our budget at the time - we spent money later on getting the recordings put on DVD and edited.
James was friendly, professional, and our footage was great. I would definitely recommend his services to anyone who wants a great price for raw footage and is planning on saving up money for video editing in the future.

James provided videography alone -- no editing or final disc -- for our wedding at a very reasonable price. He basically did the video and turned over all the files to us for editing. My son then put together a final wedding video. James was cooperative, on time, and the quality of the video was very good.

James was a delight and did a great job, for a very reasonable fee. He did everything he promised and more. He was very clear in advance and almost invisible during the wedding, reception and dinner. We don't plan on getting married again, but would highly recommend him to anyone.

We hired James to videotape the weddings of our two daughters. He is a really nice guy and was very accommodating. We liked the idea that he would videotape the day and that we could edit the footage according to what we wanted to highlight. The picture and sound quality of the footage was excellent. He was very unobtrusive. After two weddings, we felt like we had known James for years! We couldn't have asked for a more professional videographer to capture two of the most important events of our lives.

Before I got engaged I swooned over those beautiful wedding videos and, after a friend told me that a videographer is a must (and that she watches the video more than she looks at her pictures) I knew I needed one for our big day. I had dreams of Hollywood style videos from our wedding...then we got engaged and planning-a-wedding reality set in. Weddings can get complicated on timing and budget. Would I have to sacrifice spending less on the day to get the videographer I wanted just to have a video of a subpar version of the day?
I contacted James DeAlto of James Ryan Films initially because I was very drawn to the high quality videos and reasonable pricing. But the real draw-you keep ALL of your footage from the day! Other videographers may give you an X-minute clip, based on your "package", but James Ryan Films created a package tailored to my wedding and we received video of the entire day so that you can later have them edited or (as I did) edit the videos yourself! Unfortunately, James was committed to another event the day of our wedding and I started letting go of my wedding video dreams.
Six months of planning later, and only two weeks before the big day, James notified me the event had been cancelled last-minute! James' level of professionalism (staying committed to his first client while trying to satisfy me with the quickest notice possible) was very impressive and I was happy to hire him. His services were excellent and everyone had such a great time working with James. Even better, the videos were excellent and I'm so grateful that he was able to capture every moment of our wedding.
Have fun watching your James Ryan Film-there are so many fun times you miss when you're the bride and groom but, luckily for us, we could see all the fun that took place that day and we can cherish the memories forever-thanks to James!

Great Way to Capture a Day

We hired James to document raw footage of our wedding ceremony and reception. He was prompt to reply on any email requests and very professional. James went above and beyond to document our day via film and we got our money’s worth. I recommend him to anyone looking for those looking to have moments captured and all of the footage to choose from to edit into your own recap!

We hired James to shoot our son’s wedding in April 2014. Having shot and produced a great many wedding videos myself, I was rather picky of who I wanted to shoot my own son’s wedding. My plans were to edit myself, so James' approach was a good fit. His pre-production planning was very thorough and that paid off the day of the wedding. I had a certain shooting style I wanted him to follow and he did that well. He and his assistant covered every aspect of the day with professionalism and with a great attitude. I’m very pleased with the final product and have recommended him to others. I have one son left to marry and will be calling James when that day comes.
