James was amazing for us and really did all he could to help make our wedding feel special. First of all, we were planning our VA wedding all the way from Oregon, and he was great at being available for Zoom calls with us. He also took the time to learn about us as a couple and turned that into a story he told during the ceremony. Several of our guests asked if he was a friend of ours because of how much he knew about our individual personalities and our time together. Overall, our experience with James was completely stress-free, and he absolutely made our wedding day special. -

Pastor James Davis is an exceptional wedding officiant! From our first interaction via e-mail to the ceremony itself, Pastor Davis was warm, kind, and incredibly pleasant to interact with. He was always prompt in replying to messages and inquiries. He was always on top of messages. Communication was definitely seamless with Pastor Davis! He was incredibly helpful from start to finish - answered all our questions and made us feel at ease. Very helpful and attentive - made the whole experience stress-free.
The day of the wedding Pastor Davis arrived exactly as scheduled, which gave us great peace of mind on such an important day. The message during the ceremony was heartfelt and left a lasting impression on us. Many of our guests commented on how meaningful it was. James brought me to tears with his words and his creative style to capture my husbands and I’s whole journey together in a 25-30 minute span of the ceremony. I appreciated all his help with the marriage certificate and courthouse details when he didn’t need to do so. My (new) husband and I were searching for someone to officiate our crazy idea for a January, sandy, beach elopement. When I found James and Irene, I was about done with wedding stuff and just wanted to marry the love of my life. After seeing all they have to offer on their site and the gorgeous photos Irene captures, we were ready.
James knew I am quite busy with work so he suggested the spot and even checked the sunset time to get some amazing photos, which just goes to show the attention to detail and his amazing understanding of what we were asking for. For the ceremony, he knew just the words to say that meant the world to us.
We also paid for the additional photos package taken by Irene. We were so impressed at her eye for capturing the most wonderful moments of that day. Just absolutely blown away. She guided us through the steps and gave suggestions that made our photos look unbelievable.
I really cannot recommend two people who will go above and beyond to make your special day come to fruition the way James and Irene did for us. We can't thank you both enough! -

GO WITH JAMES - Don't think twice
When my parents decided to sell my childhood home my husband & I decided to get married there with only 30 days notice until their closing. We reached out to James (after just googling officiants in the VB area) & he immediately contacted us back. He was so great about walking us through the licensing process & what to expect & where to go. On the day of the actual wedding I didn't have to worry about a thing - he showed up, introduced himself to my parents, & had already handled getting the rings & all of the procedural stuff without pulling me from getting ready. I expected the ceremony to be short & sweet & very "standard" & it was so much more & amazing. He put so much detail into it & really personalized it to my husband & I & just captured not only our intense attention, but also our guests. So much so ...... that my parents (my mother & step father who have been together for 20+ years) decided to call him back to marry them a week later. James is incredible. He is so personable & easy going, he feels like an instant friend. He made us feel calm & confident standing up there & he made our ceremony so special & inserted emotion in me that day I didn't expect to feel. So, don't think twice - just book James. You won't regret it. -

Best Officiant
We luckily found James through the internet and were so glad that he was available for our wedding day.
He took the time to sit down with us over a zoom call to get to know us and our love story. He also provided great guidance in the wedding planning process as far as getting a marriage license, etc.
During the cocktail hour our guest couldn’t stop raving about what a great ceremony it was and that it was the best ceremony they’ve been apart of. James made the ceremony personal, funny and enjoyable.

When we were looking for an officiant, we really wanted someone who could connect with us even though they have never met us before. James Davis did that perfectly. The way he put our story together after a brief survey and short video chart is amazing. Our family and friends asked us how long we have know James, and were shocked when we said 45 mins. They thought he had been a friend of ours that they had just never met! He made us laugh, cry, smile the biggest smile and gave us all the best goose bumps! He connected to our story and told it so beautifully. I told my husband after that if we ever did a vow renewal I would want to hire James again! -

We hired Pastor Davis to officiate our wedding and he was phenomenal! Communication with him was very easy and he always got back to us quickly. He really got to know us and incorporated that into our ceremony. He included our story of how we met, how our relationship progressed, and our engagement so beautifully. He included a bit of religion, just like we asked. I can't think of anything else to say other than he was outstanding. We had so many people ask us about our officiant and comment that he did an amazing job and everyone loved him! We wanted an officiant that would tell our story and make everyone laugh, and that's exactly what happened when James began talking! He told our story in a way that made it seem like he had known us our entire relationship (in fact many people at the reception were shocked when we shared we didn't know him prior to finding him online) and made everyone laugh in the process. I was in desperate need of someone to marry my husband and I and it was about 3-4 months before our wedding date . I was looking for an officiant and I can across James page , I reach out and he responded almost immediately. The whole process he does is amazing , you fill out some questions and then you do a zoom call so he can get more detailed information to put in your story my wedding day was amazing and James was a major part in that. After the ceremony and days after I had friends and family come up to me asking if James was a family friend or family . They all said the same thing , he was amazing , so well spoken ,and it’s like he knew us by the way he put together our story . Absolutely amazing I highly recommend him . -

James was INCREDIBLE! He not only was willing to travel 3+ hours for us but he took the time to get to know our story, and let us craft together a ceremony that truly represented our relationship and the amount of religion that we were comfortable with. We were originally scheduled for October 2020 and when we decided to postpone to 2021, James was super understanding and easy to work with getting everything switched over to our new date. James communicated well and let us know everything we needed to do on our end to prepare. Pastor James is 1000% on top of every aspect of every step in the preparation and officiating processes.
From pre-planning our plans and vows, to asking questions and doing his own additional research, to telling our love story, he was proactively involved.
He showed up early for our rehearsal and became part of our family, helping us empty the suv of groceries and then defrosted the shrimp!!! Then, when everyone arrived for the rehearsal, he put his Pastor role on and and left after it was all planned perfectly, going over everything twice.
Wedding day, there was a regatta at Fort Monroe and my mom and I were LATE stuck in traffic after hairdressing and makeup delays and I was in tears trying to get through the tunnel bumper to bumper traffic, with some man in a minivan flipping me off and racing-weaving through traffic getting beeped at almost hitting my brand new car and many others! I got to the Chapel of the Centurion by the skin of my teeth and my mom arrived a few minutes later.
I was fully prepared to not get married because the ceremony was so delayed, telling him to leave whenever he had to leave, not wanting to ruin anyone else’s wedding, making sure he could get to his next wedding on time. I was thinking we may not get married that day after 2-1/2 years of delays due to moving and then Covid delays. I was planning out alternatives during the bumper to bumper crying in my wedding gown drive trying to get there to get married while our parents and best friends were in state. I was thinking about how we could ask to get married at church that next day, Sunday, or the courthouse on Monday by a Judge. When I FINALLY arrived at the Chapel, Pastor James greeted me like he didn’t have a worry in the world. He was kind, supportive, patient, and smiling!
Pastor James not only waited patiently, but he Aldo took my cell phone to the Photo/Video guys because we were doing Facebook Live and also recording a video too. When we watched it later, he had walked around taking a b roll tour of the venue and talking to our at home guests!
He didn’t even shorten our service AT ALL! He had a long love story and vows that he didn’t NEED to do because they were his own add-ins no one would have known if he took those parts out or shortened them, but he didn’t shorten anything!!!!!
Our wedding was AMAZING, funny, sentimental, beautiful, romantic, truly Christian, and PERFECT TO A T!
Then we received a thank you card from him a couple days later before I even had a minute to send ours out or write his reviews!
He’s amazing. There are no words to express how grateful we are.
I’m in tears writing this because I’m so grateful for everything he did for us.
He’s worth every penny and I pray for blessings to shower him and his family.

Great Experience
Our ceremony was personal, heartfelt, funny, entertaining, and really expressed who we are as a couple. Working with James was simple and pleasant - we had a zoom meeting where he got to know us and learn our story, and the day-of went off without a hitch. I would recommend not only James, but his recommended vendors as well. The whole team (James, Irene Davis Photography, and DJ Larry D) worked together seamlessly and made our day easy and fun, all while working with our budget. Highly recommend! -

We had a small ceremony on Sandbridge Beach with a few family members present. James gave us the simple, intimate, sweet ceremony we wanted (we did the elopment package with photos by Irene). Small Covid Ceremony
We planned to have Pastor James at our large wedding ceremony on 9/5/20, but due to the pandemic we postponed, changed locations, and had a small ceremony on the beach. Pastor James was so kind and understanding through the whole process. He kept our ceremony short and sweet how we were hoping for such a small ceremony and said such beautiful words. With COVID-19 we had to change our original wedding plans. We decided to elope and one of our biggest concerns was that it wouldn’t feel personal. James did a great job at making our ceremony still feel personal, and included many important elements so the day felt special even if it wasn’t what we imagined!
Along with the craziness of planning an elopement during a pandemic is that communication has to be quick and often- I can’t speak highly enough about how great of a communicator James was before, during and even after our day when we needed marriage license issues sorted out.

I/we have been to dozens of weddings over the years and our opinion, the ceremony is really the most important over the reception, decorations, music, venue, etc. Although we had all of that and more, we wanted our ceremony to be the focal point. We requested James to perform a mini sermon in lieu of a “traditional wedding ceremony” that would speak to the our guests hearts, with hope that his message touches people and lead them to Christ. We provided James with bible passages that were important to my husband and me which represented events in our lives and the lives of our friends and family. James worked very hard to prepare a sermon that encompassed all and delivered his message that truly touched everyone who attended. In fact, most of our guests came to us with tears in their eyes thanking us for having James prepare such a well-meaning, personalized message that pulled the guests in and tugged on their hearts. We knew immediately that we wanted Pastor James to marry us and it was one of the best decisions on our wedding day! He helped us understand the process of how he would marry us and even met with us to dig deeper about our story and truly preach to our family and friends about us on our wedding day. We didn't do a rehearsal but Pastor James led us all so gracefully throughout the ceremony without any practice. Most people have their guests comment on how great the food or venue was, but for us - people were letting us know that they loved our Pastor and how funny and genuine he was during our ceremony.
