A most amazing baker that you need to hire!

Irene is a truly talented baker and an incredibly wonderful person to deal with. Her cakes and macarons were simply gorgeous and unbelievably scrumptious! She listened patiently and carefully to the bride and groom's wishes and helped them to come up with designs and flavors that were a sight to the eyes and a dream for the taste buds! I cannot rave enough about what her contribution added to the fantastic wedding! Her home and bakery are a bit off the beaten path, but finding and using her was so worthwhile. Highest rating possible!

Delicious!

Irene was great to work with and her cake is the best! She offers a variety of flavors and can guide you on which ones will pair well together. We ended up doing a chocolate chunk cake with espresso filling and it’s easily the best cake I’ve ever tasted! We also did a red velvet cake with Oreo cream cheese filling & our guests were raving about it!! If you’re having a wedding in the Asheville area, check her out!

Great Experience with Irene

My husband and I used Irene for both our wedding cake and his grooms cake. She was responsive and one of the easiest vendors we worked with. We had a wonderful experience during our tasting and the final cakes were exactly what we envisioned. They were delicious!!!!!!!!

Irene went above and beyond to make the best wedding cake ever!

While many venders in Asheville are just out to make money Irene really cares about her couples experience and happiness! She gave us an amazing cake tasting at her gorgeous home and offers the most amazing flavors of which we choose several for our wedding cake. Check out her website or photos on Wedding Wire or The Knot. Her world class cake designs speak for themselves! She made my wedding cake to look like my wedding dress and it was gluten free which i need and tasted incredible! Not only that but when our caterers Sage and Spice cut up the our top tier of our wedding cake that we were supposed to take home for our anniversary she made us a new one free of charge and brought it to our house after our anniversary out of the kindness of her heart! When i asked if there was anything i could do to repay her she said and i quote, "Be happy Together. Live, Love and Laugh." Now that is the kind of vendor you want when you are getting married especially here in Asheville because i learned the hard way that a lot of these venders in Asheville are unexperienced and overcharging just to make a lot of money and not caring about you or the quality of the service they are providing or about your wedding day since you are not a repeat customer so someone like Irene is gold. So forget Karen Donatelli! Irene is here now from Vermont!

We met with Irene almost a year ago to plan our dessert for our wedding this past weekend at the Red Clover Inn! We worked with her to create a delicious cake to cut and then had her make us mini pecan and pumpkin pies for our guests. Everyone was raving about our dessert! Thank you so much, Irene!

Irene did an outstanding job of planning, designing and delivering our cake and desserts. She had a wonderful cake tasting for us as we began planning our cake. We must have had ten pieces of cake, all with different frostings, layers, etc. She was very patient as we made our decision on the perfect cake for us! Irene also helped us design a beautiful cake for our wedding. It was so perfectly simple, yet still had beautiful details. Irene's cake was exactly what we wanted. Irene worked very well with our florist/coordinator to deliver and decorate the cake. She also provided us with a beautiful and delicious assortment of desserts for our guests! Overall, Irene did an absolutely perfect job. I can't recommend her enough!!

Irene's cakes are as beautiful as they are delicious and they are INSANELY DELICIOUS! My only regret is that we did not get two. Why didn't we do a groom's cake?! She is wonderful to work with and managed to turn our hodgepodge of ideas into something cohesive and gorgeous. If only I could find an excuse to commission another cake.

Irene made us an amazing cake for our wedding day that was both beautiful, and delicious! We're so glad to have found her. She came recommended by our venue, and we're so glad that we were able to get in touch with her and book our date! When we first met with her we were able to discuss our vision, try different types of cake, and she was able to accommodate my inability to have dairy (I was so happy to be able to eat my wedding cake!!). I wasn't sure what to expect from our tasting, but we were able to try different flavors, discuss what we liked and design our cake with her. When she sent us a mock-up design, I knew we had made the right choice! She responded quickly to our emails, and the cake was so beautiful I almost had a hard time cutting into it! It was delicious and we continue to get compliments on how great it tasted. Plus, the guests who had food allergies like me were able to have slices from my dairy-free layer!

As the mother of the bride and event coordinator, I must write a review with the highest regard for Cakes by Irene. My daughter designed a dessert bar and Irene was more than flexible as we determined what items should be served and quantities. There were even last minute (minor) changes for which she was more than accommodating. The entire table was absolutely award winning in appearance and taste! As a matter of fact, many of the gluten free guests said that her chocolate cake was the BEST cake that they have ever had!

We could not have been happier with our wedding cake made by Irene. She made the cake exactly the way I dreamed it would be. She provided literally EVERY single option possible during her tasting, which was really awesome. And not only was the cake beautiful, but DELICIOUS. I am already looking forward to our first anniversary so we can eat the topper we saved! We would work with Irene again in a heartbeat. We visited Irene in Ludlow and she helped us design the most stunning and delicious cake! She was extremely attentive and executed everything brilliantly. We even asked her to make a surprise cake for my husband a few months after our tasting (his birthday was at midnight of our wedding) and she had the tasting notes saved and made his favorite one. Highly recommend!

It was great! she made sure we had everything we needed and if we did not she would work with us until we did. She also said that if we did not want to save our top cake from our wedding that she would be glad to make us one in a year, if we like that. The different flavors she had for us to try and choice from was a great amount. The price for the cake was really good. Also she told us how we could save our sugar flowers from our cake. That I did not know you could do.

I cannot say enough good things about Irene. She was wonderful to work with from the beginning planning stages to following up after our wedding day. Our cake was not only visually stunning but it was absolutely delicious. I lost count of how many guests said it was by far the best wedding cake they ever had. My partner and I could not have been happier with our choice of selecting Irene to make our wedding cake! Some things are meant to be and I think finding Iren was one of them!!! Irene came highly recommended! Our hotel, florist, event planner and photographer all unanimously said Irene makes the best wedding cakes in all of Vermont if not New England! I have to say originally we were not sure if we would have a wedding cake (maybe too traditional) – but we gave it some thought and are so glad we decided to have cake at our wedding. Both my partner and I have a small family so we invited our parents and my sister along to join us for the cake tasting. We thought this was a big deal for us because how often in life do you get to go to a cake tasting? The entire family was very excited and looking forward to it! Irene bent over backwards for us and was so accommodating. Irene was so enthusiastic, organized and helpful during the cake tasting. She went to great lengths to show us sample design options, styles and provided a lot of cake and frosting options to taste and choice from. Irene’s passion truly comes through for loving what she does and that really showed in the final product. Irene created the most beautiful wedding cake for our special day and it tasted amazing! We were so fortunate we found Irene and could not have asked for a better wedding cake! Irene was so much fun to work with! Could not be more pleased with our cake from Irene! The tasting was the highlight of our wedding planning, and the cake itself a highlight of the wedding. Irene will not disappoint!! EVERY cake and frosting flavor we tried was better than the last, and Irene herself was sweet and fun to work with. If you're getting married anywhere in the New England area, PLEASE do yourself a favor and go to Irene's for your cake, cupcakes, grooms cake - she can make anything.

I have a gluten and dairy intolerance, so that idea of eating cake at my wedding is a dream. Irene made this come true, and with so many options for flavors and fillings. She is truly an artist and able to design anything you wish. The cake topper made to look like our dogs was perfect and completely included in her cake pricing. We will keep that topper and cherish it for years to come. Take a load of stress off your plate and call Irene, she will take care of everything and make it look easy too!

Our wedding cake and cupcakes looked absolutely gorgeous and tasted great too! We chose to go with a small cutting cake as well as 150 cupcakes for our guests. The cake was vanilla with Oreo filling, and cupcakes came in 4 different favors for our guests: carrot cake, chocolate, vanilla, and red velvet (each with their own different frosting as well and design). The cake and cupcakes were delivered with no issues and guests kept complimenting how great they looked and how good they tasted! Irene was a pleasure to work with and I highly recommend her for your wedding cake!

Our beautiful wedding cake was also absolutely delicious! It was a pleasure working with Irene. Irene offers a very large variety of different cake, frosting and filling flavors; which are all offered at her cake tasting appointments. Her portfolio is filled with many different styles of cakes, we chose a simple tiered cake that was decorated with fresh flowers (provided by our florist). The cake was delivered, set up, decorated without any issue. And it was also completely devoured by our guests without issue :) My husband and I chose to order a first year anniversary cake to bring home... but in all honesty it was so delicious, we finished it after our honeymoon (and it was still so darn delicious)!! We chose 2 different cakes- 1. Lemon chiffon cake with 2 layers of seedless raspberry buttercream filling and 1 layer of bergamot buttercream 2. triple chocolate cake with 2 layers of oreo buttercream and 1 layer of chocolate raspberry ganache- the exterior of the cake tiers was vanilla buttercream.
Our beautiful cake was also reasonably priced!

Irene did a fabulous job with our wedding day desserts! We had a cutting cake, cupcakes and macarons. In addition, we had a grooms cake that we served at our rehearsal dinner, which was a HUGE hit! We are skiers and she made a ski mountain cake, complete with my husband and I skiing down and all of our favorite trail names from our local mountain. Irene did our wedding cake and also cupcakes for our wedding on 10/24/15. During the planning process she did a great job explaining our options and really making sure she understood what we were looking for. She was flexible with our requests and was very professional. After meeting with her and looking at samples and photos of cakes that she has done in the past I was confident we were going to get a beautiful cake. Photos don't compare to the real thing! Our cake was beyond anything I could have imagined and it was everything that we had asked for and more. The design and execution were flawless. A true work of art. The flavor, taste, and consistency of both the cake and cupcakes were 100% perfect. Everyone enjoyed trying all the different cupcakes and frostings. Thank you Irene for being a part of our special day and helping make memories for us.

We used Irene's cakes by design for our wedding in Arlington VT, and I can say with complete confidence that it was one of the best tasting wedding cakes we have ever had! My now husband is picky about wedding cakes and has always found them dry and tasteless, but this cake was amazing! The whole process with Irene was very professional and it is clear that she loves what she does. We had such a blast during the amazing cake tasting, it was almost impossible to decide on a flavor. Her combinations are out of this world. The cake came out beautiful, we couldn't have been more pleased. We even followed her directions for storing our cake and it tasted great on our one month anniversary, I can't wait to have our one year piece!!

Irene made the most amazing cakes for our wedding! They were beautiful and absolutely delicious. One of the two cakes was complete with a replica of our ski boat with my bride driving the boat (and our dog observing) and myself skiing behind. It was incredibly cool (and intricate) and got many, many comments from our guests. Irene was wonderful to work with from start to finish. We had a fun visit to Ludlow for cake tasting, which I would really recommend. My wife and I picked two different cakes, one with each of our tastes. They both were delicious. We would definitely recommend Irene highly!

Irene designed a wonderful cake for our wedding. We had last minute changes to our wedding guest list and she was able to accommodate us. Irene worked with our florist (Bonnie Hawley) to put flowers on the cake and have the cake displayed on a wooden slab. The cake turned out wonderfully. We saved the top layer and have been slowly eating our way through it!

Irene was FABULOUS!!! I am the mom of the bride and I can tell you that we did 3 other cake tastings before we found Irene and wow are we glad we did! She was amazing. She listened to my daughter and son-in-laws ideas about what they wanted and was able to make the perfect cake for them. It was exactly what they had wanted and portrayed the colors and theme perfectly. Every guest at the wedding was raving about how beautiful the cake was and how delicious it was !! It was certainly a highlight of the wedding. The tasting was so much fun and seeing the results were one of my favorite memories of the wedding! I would recommend her completely and wholeheartedly!!! Amazing job!

Irene's cake was absolutely fantastic and she was a delight to work with throughout the entire process. She shipped delicious samples to us all the way from Vermont to Virginia, and she was detail-oriented to make our wedding topper look just like us, even requesting a picture so she'd get hair and eye colors just right. We received multiple compliments on the wedding cake from guests, with one couple stating that it was the best wedding cake they'd ever had. We had a wonderful experience with Irene starting at our tasting. All of the cakes were delicious it was nearly impossible to choose just one! Luckily, you don't have to, Irene will change flavors and fillings and mix/match your favorites. She communicated with us throughout the process and the actual cake was not only beautiful and exactly what we had pictured, but delicious! The guests raved about the cake, and we cannot wait until our anniversary to eat the top tier. She also did a gluten free version of our cake, and our GF guests almost didn't believe it was gluten free. Would recommend her in a heartbeat - Irene did an amazing job!

Irene made an amazing birch bark cake for our wedding! It was a beautiful design and multiple flavor layers. The sugar decorations of bittersweet and fall leaves went so well with the theme of our wedding. Irene was really easy to work with, even from across the country (as we were planning everything from CO). Irene allowed us to modify the design and flavor combinations. She also worked with us so that we could pick up the cake very early the morning of to transport it a few hours away. The cake was breathtaking and we have more pictures of the cake from our friends that we do of us :)

Irene designed and delivered my wedding cake. It was beautiful. I almost didn't want to cut into it. But of course we did. We had two types of cake, one was primarily chocolate and the other praline and vanilla. Both were delicious. We had a little left over, so when I returned from my honeymoon I brought some in to work. Despite it being a week old everyone raved about it. Some people who I had never met before found me afterwards and thanked me for sharing the cake. Saying it was the best cake they had ever had. My husband and I have to agree.

Irene is a genius! I married Lyle Pinder (the man of my dreams) on October 19th 2013 and our wedding cake couldn't have complimented our love more. We asked Irene (the week of the wedding mind you!) to make a very personal cake with our most special moments and inside jokes written all over it and she nailed it! The cake was absolutely beautiful and we were showered with praise because of it. Not only was the cake beautiful but it was extremely moist and the most delicious wedding cake I have ever tasted! Each tier had a different flavor (marble, red velvet, lemon with respberry filling and apple crisp with cream cheese filling) and ALL of my guests were very pleased! We were so thrilled to have our wedding cake made by Irene. It cost little more than we hoped to spend, but was so worth it. The cake was moist and delicious, better than what we remember from the tasting. We had a gorgeous design of several birch logs with sugar acorns, bittersweet and fall leaves. It was the perfect addition to our Vermont fall wedding.

Irene was always on top of keeping in touch with us, and allowed us the flexibility to choose from a number of options to try to keep our costs down. The cake was one of the most admired things at our wedding, and we have no regrets from our decision. The guests loved the look and taste of the cake. I can't believe how many pictures people took of the cake! We have no regrets on our decision and I would highly recommend Irene for any special event!!

We planned a destination wedding in Manchester, Vermont and had previously read reviews for Irene's cakes. We decided to meet and show her some ideas we had for our buttercream cake with small flower gardenias. We decided on a chocolate sour cream cake with 3 different layers of filling with vanilla buttercream on the outside. The cake came out exactly as planned and tasted even better. She was even able to use our vintage silver cake stands to tier the top layer of the cake! It came out just beautiful and we loved working with Irene as well. She is very professional and has been doing this for quite some time, so you don't have to worry when using her as a vendor, she can be counted on the get the job done well and efficiently!

Irene was absolutely wonderful to work with. She delivered exactly the cake we discussed, only more beautiful and delicious than I imagined! She was responsive by email, and when we visited to try cake flavors she had incredible flavor options and lots of design examples to discuss. I had at least 5 people tell me the cake we served (vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream frosting and fresh strawberries, as well as a layer of bergamot frosting inside) was the best cake they ever tasted. The cake came out better than we had ever hoped! The colors, taste and design was amazing. We went with two layers--one was sour cream yellow with milk chocolate and pistachio ganache and the second was sour cream chocolate with lavender and espresso ganaches. Our guests thought it was one of the best cakes they had ever seen, not only in look but in taste too. We wanted a "Back to the Future" cake design because that was how we first met. Irene was great with meeting with us and conceptualizing a few designs. The result was amazing and beautiful. Also the tasting was fantastic--I think we tried over 40 combinations! My husband and I are huge fans of cake decorating shows and we really wanted a special cake for our ceremony. Irene was AMAZING to work with! With a few quick emails, she understood our vision. She was able to sculpt a dragon and princess for our cake that were detailed and beautiful. By the end of the night, my husband had 17 pictures of the cake on his phone--and none of me!

Irene hosted a tasting with us prior to our wedding and systematically walked us through all of our options for interior and exterior layers. By the end of it my mouth was so overwhelmed by amazingness I hardly remembered which cake we chose, but our wedding cake was delicious! Speechless! The cake was the best cake I have ever had, and I don't traditionally like cake! I wanted cheesecake in my initial wedding plans but that didn't pan out. So we went to taste test with Irene. That was fun and it all tasted so good. We decided on a white chocolate buttercream frosting with a white chocolate cake with 3 fillings raspberry strawberry and maple. We froze the extra and still eat it. It's so decadent a sliver is filling. People loved the cake. Even the decorations matched our fall sophisticated theme with simple decor as well. It was like a cream colored cake with branches and red berries and a few fall leaves made out of molded chocolate. Beautiful!

Irene is worth the extra money for the quality of her product and her service. I highly recommend her.

When I initially contact Irene regarding our wedding cake, I was hesitant that she would take us on as a client. As one of the best cake designers in the area I couldn't imagine that she would make a cake for our wedding with 20 guests. But she did; and without a doubt I can honestly say that it was THE BEST CAKE I have ever eaten in my life. The entire process of working with Irene was a pleasure. Considering that we were having a destination wedding, Irene was very flexible in meeting with us and scheduling our tasting. She also made cookies that were distributed as favors to our guests and we are still getting compliments about how delicious they were. Irene is a true professional and I highly recommend her!

My wife and I were married yesterday and today found ourselves talking about Irene's cake and how ALL of it was eaten by the end of the weekend. Irene's service was seamless to us. When we met her it was obvious to us that she was the cake designer for us out of the four we met that day. She is highly organized and a very good teacher when it comes to learning about the ins and outs of cakes. After meeting with her we were able to easily decide which type was right for us.

I had a fantastic experience working with Irene. She came highly recommended from the Equinox Resort, and she was my first and only cake tasting! After viewing her prior work, and tasting her cake and icing flavors I knew I had come to the right place. All of the cake flavors I tried were very moist, and I really liked that we could get creative with our cake/frosting combinations. I didn't have a design idea right away, and changed my mind a few times but Irene was very patient and helpful along the way. We went with two tiers of almond cake with vanilla frosting (one layer of raspberries), and I surprised my husband with a bottom layer of carrot cake with maple frosting. We received several compliments about both flavors of the cake from our guests, and some said it was the best cake they had ever eaten. The cake arrived on time to the reception site and looked beautiful; excatly like I had pictured it. I cannot recommend Irene's services enough, she helped make our day fabulous!

Irene simply makes the most visually stunning and absolutely delicious cakes in the greater New England area. What we received from her is what I would have expected to come from a top pastry chef in New York, it really was that good. We ordered a chocolate espresso cake with a white chocolate buttercream frosting, with a chocolate raspberry ganache middle filling and 2 side fillings of lavender. This cake was to die for. My husband is not a sweets person and he loved the cake, it was moist, not too sweet and had the richest flavors. It was hard to even cut the cake as it looked so perfect and I didn't want to destroy it! I couldn't wait to have my piece though, unfortunately there were no extra pieces left and none for us to save for an anniversary, I am thinking about having her make a small cake for our anniversary next year!

We highly recommend Irene Maston for your wedding cake or any cake that you need! She is very creative with her flavors and is able to do the most wild cake or the most traditional whatever you want!

Irene, thank you for making every guest at our wedding smile and tell us that they have never actually had wedding cake at a wedding that tasted good!! Even our DJ told us that he has tasted A LOT of wedding cakes and that this really topped them all, I gave him your name to spread the word!

Irene is THE cake person in the area. We received more compliments on our cake than we ever could have imagined. Because we had a lot of children at the wedding, we kept our flavors fairly simple, but she has all kinds of delicious and unusual flavors and combinations. Because I was raised on homemade cakes made by my mother, I am very picky about cakes, and Irene's was completely delicious. It was also visually stunning. One of my bridesmaids even said that if she could, she would have recommended Irene for her sister's wedding in Chicago. We couldn't have been happier with Irene.

I love cake, always have. And as someone in the hotel and event industry, I've tasted a lot of (bad) wedding cakes, which is why I was so nervous about picking a cake vendor for my own wedding cake.

When I first saw Irene's cakes, I refused to believe that they could taste good. I mean, they are so beautiful, how could they be delicious too? I gave in and made an appointment to taste with my mom, and couldn't be happier that I did!

I went the less traditional route and selected 12 of Irene's unique and utterly delicious cake flavors for a cake "buffet" - she was totally flexible and made it happen for us. This was the absolute HIT of the wedding day. From the MOIST (yes, moist!) cakes, to the delicious fillings to the simple but whimsical designs on the outside, this was the best wedding cake I'll ever have!

Irene, people may be calling you for the Oreo, carrot and dulce de leche cakes - they couldn't get enough! Thank you so much!

Irene blew us away! She created our beautiful wedding cake for last July 2009 and it far exceeded our expectations. She took our vision of the Lord of the Rings' Rivendell as a theme and set in a garden and created a masterpiece of intricacy, attention to detail, and a of course, delectable cake. We were so impressed with her portfolio and saw how important it was for her to create a perfect cake for us. She really payed attention to what we liked and even matched our wedding colors perfectly. We can't say enough good things about Irene and her talent. She really listened to my husband and I. We had shown her printouts of cakes we liked and various designs and told her what would be special to us and she incorporated it. Other vendors we spoke with didn't even offer "cake testing". We traveled 3 hrs to meet with her personally and partake in cake testing and I'm so glad we did. It allowed my husband and I to combine our "flavors" tastefully :) The cake was the perfect size for the amount of guests we had, and she delivered and set up the cake the day of the wedding perfectly. Every aspect of our wedding cake was of utmost quality and perfection. I plan on getting our anniversary cake from Irene, even if I have to travel 3 hrs to get it! When we met Irene for our cake tasting we had no question that she would deliver the wedding cake of our dreams. It was no surprise that come our wedding day, our guests were coming up to us asking if we had seen our cake and how increadible it looked. Irene did an amazing job matching our wedding cake (down to the exact color of our tablecloths) along with these very intricate sugar flowers that looked too good to eat! While many bakers may do a good job in making the cake look great, Irene also took it further and provided us with the best tasting cake we have ever had at a wedding. The cake tasted like it was 100% fresh from the baker and was layered with fresh fruit. We, and our guests were delighted!! When my daughter asked if I would make her wedding cake using a favorite family recipe, I was touched but dismayed. Decorate her wedding cake? The day before her wedding? Not in this lifetime!

I suggested we find a professional willing to use the recipe instead, and our daughter sighed but agreed. Of the vendors near the wedding location, only Irene was willing to review the recipe, bake a sample cake, and tell us if she could take the recipe to scale for the wedding. I supplied the recipe by e-mail, she made a test version (for a fee), and determined that our daughter could have the cake she wanted, a cream cheese chocolate confection made from scratch for family birthdays and celebrations over the years. Irene's web site provided designs and the bride and groom selected the filling, icing and decoration. We opted for a "display" cake to serve about 85 plus a sheet cake for 70 or so, making the cutting easier on the caterer.

Needless to say, the cake was a hit. Many guests looked fruitlessly for leftovers once the dancing had begun. I especially appreciated the close-up pictures Irene took of the cake after setting it up at the reception; she e-mailed these to us after the happy affair was over. From initial inquiry through finalizing details and delivering what was promised, my daughter and I found Irene accommodating, skilled, and creative. An amusing testimony to the quality of her work is the number of guests who shared pictures taken during the reception with us. More than a few took pictures at the table of their served cake slices, before, during, and near the end of consumption!

On September 12th, we celebrated our wedding in Pittsfield, Vermont at Riverside Farm and Irene made our delicious cake. She was a pleasure to work with and the cake was truly the best cake we've ever tasted. It was so much fun to be able to design not only the cake itself but also the combination of amazing flavors. We chose Sour Cream Chocolate cake with layers of White Chocolate Buttercream w/ strawberries, Bailey's Buttercream, and Espresso Ganache. The entire square layered, 3 tiered cake was frosted with Milk Chocolate Buttercream and topped with the most incredible sugar flower which was just like the picture I showed her of the one on my wedding dress. As a former wedding planner, I know from experience that many wedding cakes don't taste quite as great as they look. Everyone was raving about how beautiful and delicious our cake was.
We can't wait to eat our cake topper on our anniversary, though I don't think we'll be able to wait that long! :)

We can't tell you how lucky we are to have just celebrated our 1 year anniversary and got to eat Irene's cake AGAIN! Irene is a amazing baker and cake designer. She executed our visions perfectly and provided us not only with a beautiful cake, but an outrageously delicious one as well. We met with several cake designers for taste tests and we were by far the most impressed with Irene. She's extremely talented and we would recommend her in a heartbeat to anyone getting married in Vermont. Thanks Irene!!

Irene's cakes are amazing. She did my wedding cake -- a wonderful snowflake-themed concoction -- and a groom's cake too. She is very creative and flexible and reasonably priced. My advice is to give her a general idea of what you want and then turn her loose to be creative, because she's a good listener. I gave her room to operate and she came up with some wonderfully creative additions to the groom's cake. Oh my gosh, and the cakes tasted sooo good!!! How can something that pretty taste that good too! Irene works very well with my reception site, the Four Chimneys Inn -- they had a seamless interface where I didn't have to get involved in logistics of delivery, and that's always nice too.

Irene is the best cake-maker in VT-period. Her designs are stunning and she can turn any fantasy into edible reality! I highly recommend Irene's to anyone in need of the perfect cake!

Our cake by Irene was absolutely beautiful, and even more so delicious! Working with Irene was seamless and enjoyable - our tasting was fantastic and we left knowing exactly what cake we wanted. We picked a design from her book and got some fresh flowers added by our florist, and when we arrived at our reception we were so thrilled at how beautiful the cake turned out and having our first bite was even better. We cant wait to finish off our cake at our first anniversary. We loved working with Irene and would recommend her to anyone getting married in the VT area!

It was HANDS DOWN, the BEST wedding cake I’ve ever had, and I’ve had Ron Ben Israel $10K cake guy in NYC who does cakes for Ciprianis. it was SO good. can she like fed ex me overnight more carrot cake RIGHT NOW? YUMMM. Most cakes that look that pretty don’t taste that good. WOW.

Everyone was obsessed with the cake, and these are the type that are very snobby about food, and have been to a bunch of uber fancy NYC weddings. Ron Ben Israel's got some competition! Irene's cakes taste and look exceptional. Amazing job!

From the start, Irene was great to work with. She gave us a ton of choices for our tasting and we were able to alternate layers of cake with two different flavors. Our cake was beautiful, reasonably priced, arrived on time, and was exactly what we wanted!

Irene's cakes is probably the best kept secret. She made us a very beautiful
wedding cake (for a small wedding) that was perfect in every way. My husband is not usually a big fan of cakes from places other than the grocery stores (LOL), but even he very much liked this "bakery" cake. Irene is a
doll to work with. Her price was unbeatable and she was kind enough to deliver the cake to our destination of choice (without an added fee.) From
now on, whenever I need a cake, you can be sure I will get my cakes, etc.
from Irene. Use her, folks, the cake is delicious, price is right, looks great!

One of my favorite parts of wedding planning was our cake tasting at Irene’s Cakes By Design. We got to sample all the delicious flavors of cakes and fillings. I didn’t have a very good idea of what I wanted it to look like (and to be honest I was more concerned with taste than design.) But with Irene I didn’t have to choose between flavor and design. She had portfolios full of beautiful cakes which helped me to decide on our design. We went with a three tiered white chocolate cake with two layers of seedless raspberry jam with white chocolate and the middle with kirsch buttercream. The outside was decorated in Celtic scrolls with purple ribbon and a triquetra on top. It was simple and elegant, just as we wanted. I was amazed with how perfect it turned out. We have heard nothing but rave reviews of our wedding cake from our guests. I highly recommend Irene’s Cakes by design.

Loved working with Irene!

When I first started looking at cake options, I stumbled across Irene's Cake by Design. She was also recommended to me on a Facebook group. After looking at her work online, I reached out. I was very excited about tasting her cakes, until she told me her cake tasting fee. After much thought I scheduled the tasting and it was more than worth it. My best friend and I had the most amazing visit with Irene! She was so personable and very easy to talk to. Her samples were large and the only issue I had, was trying to decide on a flavor. I left confident that if I chose her, my cake would be beautiful and delicious. After tasting a few more cakes, I hired Irene. Her communication throughout the entire process was perfect - not too much and she would reach out if she had questions. I reached out to give her the lace pattern of my dress and my wedding colors. While at her tasting, she discovered teal was my favorite color. So when she found out I was no longer having teal as a wedding color, she added it in her decorations so only I would know. She matched my lace, butterfly decorations and flowers perfectly. The cake was beautiful and everyone raved about the taste and the look. I would recommend her to everyone looking for a talented and very professional cake decorator. If you want someone who can turn your vision into reality, Irene is your girl!

For my wedding I had Irene's lemon chiffon cake with lemon curd/vanilla fillings and cardamom frosting. She decorated it with simple but elegant frosting flowers and added some fresh flowers to match my bouquet, which she arranged beautifully on the cake. And of course it tasted delicious!

My husband and I were married in Vermont at a ski lodge and were looking for something that was sort of "rustic." Irene designed a lovely birch cake that went perfectly with our theme. We were able to try an abundance of flavors and choose the combination that we liked best- she has nearly unlimited possibilities. The albums of the other cakes that she had designed in the past were similarly impressive. The combination that we chose was not the most "budget-friendly" but she has some options that are less pricey than others. I would definitely recommend her to friends.

My husband and I aren't really "sweets" people, so picking a wedding cake flavor seemed a bit daunting! We met with Irene and tasted so many flavors at times it was overwhelming! But overall, our cake ended up being delicious and classic. Our guests seemed to enjoy it and we will bring out a piece a year from now on our first anniversary. Irene was very prompt in her replies to us and her pricing is moderate. We didn't get too many embellishments to the exterior/frosting of the cake, which certainly helps if you are on a tight budget.

We could not have been happier with the way our wedding desserts from Irene turned out (we did a 2-tier cake, cake pops and cupcakes....the cake pops were gone early!). So many of our guests were blown away by the dessert table. Not only were they DELICIOUS (they were the last thing we ate on our wedding day) but Irene was also a pleasure to work with and accommodated our many changes along the way without a hiccup. You can have complete faith that she will understand your vision and deliver what you want.

Irene's Cakes are amazing. She places attention to flavor, presentation, and takes cake art to a wonderful place! If you are looking for someone to create a thoughtful and truly unique cake for you, then Irene should be fully considered. Our cakes were the talk of the wedding (during and after); I do not think there is a better measure of quality.

We saw a beautiful cake in a magazine and asked Irene to replicate. She did a wonderful job. One of the cake layers though was off-color from what we provided her and a bit disappointing - but overall the cake was impressive looking and delicious. Irene was very nice to work with.

Our cake was DELICIOUS, but that is where our raves about Irene's Cakes by Design must end. We ordered a small, two tiered cake for our wedding that was similar (NOT A REPLICA) to a previous cake she had made. The majority of our cake cost was for the handmade cake topper we ordered from her, which was supposed to be a personalized version of the Hey Diddle Diddle Nursery Rhyme using our cat and dog. When we saw our cake, she had simply replicated the cake from her album. We asked for blue with silver stars, the cake was blue and gold. Our cat and dog were missing from the topper--only the cow jumping over the moon (over half the topper was missing). Irene did end up sending us the remainder of our topper after the wedding, stating she had "forgotten" them. While we appreciate getting the missing pieces, it defeated the purpose, and we had talked to our guests so much about the personalized aspect of our cake which was NOT delivered. We were really disappointed, but at least we had a cake.
*We did end up receiving a full refund for our cake topper from Irene since it was not what we had paid for. We greatly appreciated this gesture, feeling it was a very professional way to acknowledge responsibility for the mistake.
