Terrific string trio for our wedding

We hired a string trio to perform during for our ceremony and reception. The musicians were courteous, professional, and exceptionally talented. They even learned a special song to perform while my father walked me down the aisle! I highly recommend International Strings.

They were perfect!!!!

We were looking for live musicians to play at our ceremony and cocktail hour but wanted ones that offered more than the traditional wedding music, we wanted them to be able to play music from different cultures and styles and International Strings were exactly what we were hoping for. We love to travel and were having a Ireland inspired Celtic wedding so wanted to incorporate music from places we’ve been as well as Celtic music and they did exactly that. They had sent a list of all the songs they offer and I was able to let them know which ones suited us best as well as request a special song that they learned just for when I walked down the aisle. They were so accommodating, especially with a covid delay, and our quests absolutely loved them! For me it was one of the best parts of our wedding because it was something that was unique/ special while reflected us and something we love. It was also great that they worked with us and our budget - we opted for just two musicians which still sounded amazing and was perfect for how much we were comfortable spending. Slava was a true professional and I would highly recommend them for any occasion!

An absolute high point for our wedding

Slava and the rest of the jazz trio that played at my wedding's ceremony and cocktail hour were not only by far the most-complemented element by our guests, but they were also flexible, very professional, and really great to work with. When our wedding was postponed a full year due to Covid, they rebooked with us immediately. When we requested a specific piece for our procession, they came through and played SO BEAUTIFULLY. When our cocktail hour ended up lasting longer than predicted, they extended their time by 30 minutes for us on the fly. I only wish that, as the bride, I could have been able to enjoy the pre-ceremony and cocktail hour music instead of just hearing the rave reviews.

Set the Perfect Tone for our Big Day

My wife considers International String Trio her most pleasant surprise of our wedding. Our wedding was French themed, and I found it was harder than expected to find a group that fit the bill. Slava was the first vendor I talked to and hired. It’s true that once you share your vision with him, he takes it from there. You don’t have to put another thought into it and it’s executed brilliantly. With the French them, I requested the addition of an accordionist, and it added the “je ne sais quoi” that we were hoping for. The guests have raved that the group set a wonderful tone for the entire evening. And among our guests, there were several music teachers, one of them a cellist herself, who were so supremely impressed by the group that she wanted their information to hire them in the future!

Slava and International Strings are not only professional and easy to work with, but truly talented musicians. They helped us create a beautiful, memorable evening, and an unforgettable wedding celebration. Skilled Musicians making beautiful Music

Slava and his fellow musicians at International Strings were an important part of setting a tone of beauty, excellence and joy for our daughter and son-in-law’s wedding. It was a pleasure to work with them to choose the music for the prelude, the ceremony and the cocktail reception. Even the music aficionados amongst our family and friends were delighted with the selections and musicianship. I can’t wait to see the video in order to be able hear the beauty of their playing in a truly wonderful venue. They were helpful in respecting our ideas but also guiding given their much greater experience in doing this. They were true to the music, the timing, and also what the moment called for. Highly recommend.

We used International Strings for our ceremony and cocktail hour music and they were wonderful. Slava and the other musicians were great to work with. They have over 400 songs to choose from on their playlist, and even accommodated our request for an additional song. My only regret was that I didn't get to hear them play more. Highly recommend booking this trio!

It was such a great experience working with Slava and International Strings! These guys are top-notch professionals, attentive to details and quick to respond to our emails and calls. On the wedding day the ceremony music was just perfection and then they really spiced things up for the cocktail hour with their exciting mix of styles. Lots of finger snapping and toe-tapping from the guests - just what we were looking for. Hire these guys, you won't regret it!

The International Strings played for my December wedding and they were AMAZING! Slava, the manager, was very easy to get ahold of and flexible. We changed our mind multiple times and even asked to add another musician last minute, which he was able to accommodate. They played for our ceremony and then packed up their instruments and relocated to the cocktail hour, which was just a short walk across the street but it was snowing! They are a talented group of people and have a long list of songs to choose from which they play so well! We received SO many complements on them! Highly recommend!

This group did a wonderful job providing music for our ceremony and cocktail hour. We feel so lucky that the trio was available for our "Thanksgiving weekend" wedding! These guys are true professionals. Great job, Slava and the crew!

It's not easy to find the right entertainment for your wedding. It's much harder for a same sex couple, like ours. Right from the start of dealing with Slava we knew that everything will be done right. He personally looked into every little detail of the event and made very helpful suggestions about our music choices. On the big day everything went perfectly - all of the cues for the ceremony were executed precisely, the transition to the cocktail hour done quickly and without interruption for the guests. And then the trio took it to the next level with the hot swing and current pop hits performed during the cocktail hour. Impressive job. I am recommending them without hesitation.

Oh my God! Everything about this group is amazing! They played all of our favorite songs, and not just classical - which you would expect from strings, but all of the hits you hear on the radio now! This won us over when we booked them and then all of our guest were so impressed once they heard them! Amazing! Highly recommended!

Amazing performance! Such a high level of professionalism and overall musicianship - we couldn't be happier. Int'l Strings provided music for our ceremony and cocktail hour. Their playing, how they looked, communicated with us and the venue coordinators - everything was perfect. Our ocean themed wedding took place in Ipswich, MA. The string music for the ceremony and cocktail hour was something that was very important to us at our wedding. Slava was extremely easy to communicate with and always responded almost immediately. The whole process was very simple and the quick response time made me confident in my choice to hire these musicians. Our guests raved about the music, especially the contemporary covers they played during the cocktail hour. I only wish we hadn't spent so much time taking pictures so that we could have heard more of the music ourselves!! A huge thank you to International String Trio for being a part of our special day!!

From the moment I found this amazing group online I knew - they will make my wedding so special with their music! They were very attentive to my requests - I had asked to prepare 3 specific songs that weren’t on their list and they performed them so well, as if they’ve been playing them forever! The International String Trio were amazing. Our venue was The Harvard Museum of Natural History Museum and they didn't allow dancing so we had to be creative with our entertainment. Slava Tolstoy and The International String Trio Set a beautiful upbeat tone with many styles of music. Our guests were thrilled. We were thrilled. They helped make our daughters wedding a fun and elegant affair. They were more than we hoped for.

We hired them for our ceremony and cocktail hour and they did a lovely job. The music was great, the classical and traditional wedding music was wonderful but they really showed their skill on the more offbeat tunes. Jimi Hendrix? check. Clapton? check. Dropkick Murphys? double check.
Slava was easy to work with and very patient with my indecisiveness regarding song selection. My only regret is that I missed some of their playing while I was getting photos taken! Fabulous job guys!!

They were awesome! I loved the fact that they were able to play a variety of songs and genres during the cocktail hour. We had only had a conversation with Slava by phone and had never met the trio in person so we didn't know what to expect but they were excellent. In addition to their unbelievable talent, they were on time, flexible, and professional. Thank you, International String Trio, for enhancing the ceremony and cocktail hour with your beautiful music.

Beautiful music played by very friendly and accommodating musicians! They played before, during, and after our ceremony, as well as during the reception. We just loved dancing to them! They played all of our requested songs, even those that weren't on their standard play list. And we purchased both of their CDs the day of our wedding, and we listen to them frequently at home.

The ceremony music was beautiful. Slava was flexible with our playlist and even learned a song that we really wanted playing during the processional. I would definitely recommend them and felt their prices were very reasonable.

This quartet is clearly a group of talented group of musicians whose musical selections are best geared toward true music enthusiasts. The band was excellent with communication prior to our wedding, they arrived promptly and played with great energy throughout our event.

Slava and his trio are a very talented group of musicians, all Berkeley Graduates, who are able to play a wide range of genres including traditional wedding music. The trio is made up of a guitarist, bass and violin--making it a beautiful and unique sound for wedding ceremonies.

They have a large repertoire of traditional wedding music and were able to accommodate all the songs that I wanted for the ceremony. For the cocktail hour we asked them to play a mix of contemporary, classical and jazz songs and they did a wonderful job. They dress professionally and were a great addition to our cocktail hour.

Great orchestra for our wedding ceremony - they will play any song you wish - they dress professionally, arrive early, and play beautifully. I would recommend to any and everyone.

They made my ceremony so beautiful. I do wish their attire was befitting a evening wedding. My mother point out black jeans, but you know how mothers can be. I Did love there service, even if mom pointed out some fashion no-no's.

Very talented musicians with broad repertoire, but make sure you tell them that you do not want prospective clients coming to your wedding to check them out.

When inquiring, they gave me list of dates they were performing weddings so I can come to check them out in person. I didn't go because I didn't want to invade, but I found it odd that I was invited to weddings by the musicians.

I hired them to provide ceremony and cocktail hour music, asking that they would not use our wedding as a showcase for prospective clients.

Music was maybe THE most important part of our wedding. Both my husband and I are musicians, so we spent a lot of time searching for groups that really blew us away. When we saw the promotional video for IS, we were immediately impressed. Their energy and talent was very clear in this video, and in the recordings on their website. I worked directly with Slava, who was nice to work with and responsive.
For months leading up to our wedding, we would play the promo video and get super exicted to see them in person!
As I walked down the aisle, I looked over at the trio and was quite frankly shocked. These three musicians were NOT the same that we had been impressed with in the promotional material. It was a confusing moment for me during a critical time of the wedding!
In addition to not providing the musicians from their site, there were notes that my husband and I had passed along to Slava that this trio of musicians did not know anything about.
They played well, but honestly the energy was not there like it is in the promo material. The shock of not having who you expect is not something you should experience on the big day.
In fairness, there is a disclaimer on the gigmasters site saying you may not get the same people in the promo stuff. It's a nice way to cover themselves, but quite frankly just rude. We're not talking about a 12 piece band that you could easily sub a player and not notice. 100% of this trio was different than what we were expecting, there were clearly a few notes that weren't communicated, and the quality was also not up to par for me. My standards are high, hence my choice to have IS play both our ceremony and cocktail hour, and I was disappointed.
Very talented, but they need to be honest from the start and also communicate any notes that are provided to WHOEVER is going to play the event. It was almost sneaky, and that's just unacceptable.

Communication was definitely an issue. Because International String Trio was only performing at our ceremony and the music selected was pretty straight forward, there wasn't a tremendous need to ask a lot of questions. However, as the day got closer, I thought it was important that we communicate somewhat, just to make sure everyone was on the same page. It took several repeat e-mails to get any response to my questions, and I wasn't able to speak with anyone directly until I send an angry message.

Overall performance was good. Unapproved music was played while our guests were being seated, which I was not thrilled with, but it was appropriate for the setting.

Slava the owner of IST and lead guitar player is a complete scam artist. His trio consist of other skilled musicians -Jakub (violin) and Ippei (bass). I booked IST well in advanced last fall for a June wedding. I selected this trio based on their strong background in education, experience and level of skill they exhibited which could be heard on their sample music, youtube & personal attendance at a BB kings blues club concert in NYC. I felt having high quality musicians was a must for my beautiful farm wedding held in CT on June 2016. Let me tell you how Slava took our money and did not even show up to play at our wedding ! Two days before our wedding Slava emails me and tells me he regrets he will not be able to play at our wedding based on an "unexpected emergency". I was incredibly disappointed because I truly wanted him to be there to play, he is the leader of the group and who I was paying for to perform. As this was such short notice there was no way that I could change or cancel them at this point and find another qualified musician to perform at our wedding. Last time I spoke with him he confirmed that Jakub (violinist) & Ippei (bass ) would be the musicians that would come to play for us. Well.....I tried to get his confirmation that this two quality musicians would still play at our wedding and of course "no response" . He said Jakub would come however Ippei the bass player would not come as he "remarkably injures his foot" 2 days before our wedding. Slava's lies were great, how convenient "both" lead musicians will not be able to perform for us during the most busiest time of the year. He substituted with 2 sub par musicians and they sounded terrible. They were not in tune and the musical flow was jagged. It sounded like "cheap" wedding ceremony musicians. To most they could "pass", but for the money we payed it was literally a joke. Do not hire this group! Slava will pull the same switch & bait move on you and ruin your big day!
