San Francisco City Hall - EARLY Morning Appointment

In my questionnaire, Fiona asked me what my worst fear about our wedding day was. I answered honestly, that it was that one of our vendors would oversleep and be late because we had such an early appointment! She laughed, saying she does this all the time.
We had the first appointment at SF City Hall -- 9:00am on Friday, photos starting at 7:45am. Highly recommend doing this if you want the best chance of getting the grand staircase to yourself, like we did. Indeed, Fiona met me at the crack of dawn at 5:00AM. She was already in her studio waiting for me 😊

I did a trial with her a few weeks before, and we made a couple minor changes on the day of which were nbd. She helped me get into my dress and tie my corset. Girl is a corset tying CHAMP 🏆🏆🏆 She graciously went and got my MIL & SIL from downstairs in the middle of our appointment and let them poor mimosas in the room.
With Fiona, you can depend on a high degree of professionalism, punctuality, high quality hair & makeup, and a calming presence. I definitely recommend 🤩 -

Fiona took time to listen to my suggestions and ask questions, She made my bridesmaids look amazing! The bridesmaids hair turned out fabulous and paired with their makeup they were all knockouts!

She was amazing! She had a full day ahead of her... She did me and my 5 bridesmaids. Me and my girls have known each other for a loooong time so we have a tendency to get crazy and make all kinds of jokes. She got right in on the jokes and had lots of fun with us. Her make up jobs were flawless and I felt gorgeous! I would use her again for a special event in an instant! I highly recommend booking Fiona!She was amazing! She had a full day ahead of her... Perfect Wedding Hair and Makeup Experience
Fiona was an absolute pleasure to work with! Before our trial, I shared some sample styles I liked, and she completely understood my vision and executed it beautifully.
On the day of our wedding, we had a long sunrise photoshoot, and she showed up at 4 AM to do our hair and makeup. Since the photoshoot was extended, I asked her to accompany me for touch-ups, and she went above and beyond my expectations. She not only ensured my makeup stayed flawless but also helped with my dress and veil throughout the shoot, which was incredibly thoughtful and appreciated.
After the photoshoot, she had only a short break before jumping right back in to do makeup for...Fiona was an absolute pleasure to work with! Before our trial, I shared some sample styles I liked, and she completely understood my vision and executed it beautifully.

Fiona went above and beyond for our wedding. We hired Fiona for our engagement shoot and wedding. There were some last minute changes as several of the bridesmaids wanted to add on last minute HMU and Fiona was accommodating and flexible. She is a perfectionist and I loved my hair and makeup on our wedding day. It was important to me to hire someone who is familiar and comfortable with makeup for asian eyes and also did modern minimal makeup and Fiona delivered on both. She came earlier on the wedding day for my bridesmaids and also stayed later and added on eyelash services and placed my veil and last minute touch ups before she left. I was complimented...Fiona went above and beyond for our wedding. We hired Fiona for our engagement shoot and wedding. There were some last minute changes as several of the bridesmaids wanted to add on last minute HMU and Fiona was accommodating and flexible. She is a perfectionist and I loved my hair and makeup on our wedding day. Fiona did such an amazing job! I was in San Francisco for the night, and leaving for Yosemite the next morning to take anniversary photos with my husband. Fiona came to my hotel in San Francisco to do my hair and makeup, and I absolutely loved both of them! She knew exactly what I was asking for even when I didn’t think I was putting it in the right words. She was also super sweet and made me feel at ease the entire time. And I think her work truly speaks for itself. Cannot recommend her enough! Thank you Fiona!Fiona did such an amazing job! Fiona is amazing and work is even more wonderful. She made me look absolutely flawless for both my engagement and wedding photos, so much so that I was getting contacted by old friends on Facebook just to ask who did my make-up.
When I was searching for a make-up artist, my biggest fear was that I would end up looking like a big-eyed Asian porcelain doll or have make-up caked on me so much that my husband wouldn't recognize me. But when I saw Fiona's portfolio with her more natural and subtle style, I knew she was the one! She understood my concerns, knew that I wanted a natural look that highlighted my strengths, and she delivered...Fiona is amazing and work is even more wonderful. She made me look absolutely flawless for both my engagement and wedding photos, so much so that I was getting contacted by old friends on Facebook just to ask who did my make-up.

She understood my concerns, knew that I wanted a natural look that highlighted my strengths, and she delivered flawlessly on both days.
I was able to schedule my trial on the same day as my engagement photo shoot, and Fiona was gracious enough to accommodate to it. I had 2 outfits (1 casual, 1 fancy) and she was able to create a hairstyle that could easily be pinned up for my 2nd outfit change. I have thinner hair but she was able to tease it so that it looked like I naturally had nice thick hair. In terms of make-up, Fiona was able to create a more casual look for my engagement and then explained the adjustments she would make for the wedding day (how awesome is that?!).
On the big day, Fiona and her assistant arrived on time, set-up, and did hair and make-up for 4 ladies in total (me, my sister, mom, and mother-in-law). Everyone looked stunning. Her assistant was very pleasant too (my Mom loved her!). At the end, Fiona was so sweet and even gave me a little touch-up kit for the rest of the day (hairspray, concealer, and lipstick).
In terms of pricing, Fiona seemed to be on the pricier side but I think it's average for the SF area. Her work was worth every penny. Couldn't have asked for more and couldn't have been happier with the outcome.
Thank you Fiona for making me feel beautiful on my big day. You rock. -

She gave me professional feedback after I told her what my visions were and showed her some pictures on Pinterest. I usually don’t wear a lot of makeup and want to have the natural look. Fiona listened to my needs and knew exactly what to do.

She did a beautiful braid for my Indian ceremony and a fantastic hair change after the ceremony.
She is exactly the kind of stylist you want for your wedding. She listened to what I wanted, personally helped select makeup colors that fit my skin tone (no easy task for my dark Indian complexion), and was a calming and reassuring presence during the wedding. She also did the makeup for 6 other members of the wedding party, who were all pleased with how it turned out. Fiona's did my engagement shoot and wedding hair and makeup. They were two different looks and they both looked fabulous. She is very detailed and artistic in her approach. On the wedding day she also did my maid of honor and my mother's makeup and they both looked great. She explains what she's doing sometimes about what she thinks works for your age and skin types and you can tell she really knows what she's talking about. I think she's well worth her fee and I learned a lot about myself in the process. I couldn't be happier about my look on the big day, I'd definitely work with Fiona again. I had quite the headache looking for a hair / makeup artist in the bay area. Everyone here charges your first born for the service, which I wasn't expecting. I found Fiona though, and I was very pleased with her work! I wanted a very natural makeup look, not caked on, and a curled half-updo, and I expressed concern with frizzyness. Fiona did a trial for me many months in advance, and since I loved the outcome I booked her. She arrived on time the day of, and brought 2 team members along with her since we had several girls booked for hair / makeup. Everyone was pleased with their looks, and they lasted all night. My wedding happened to fall on her birthday!
Pro Tips: I recommend splitting the price between everyone who plans to get hair / makeup done, otherwise it's rather expensive for just the bride. Travel costs extra over like 25 miles round trip, and Fiona charges for parking if there is valet or fees (I had our hotel void her parking so I wouldn't be charged!)

Fiona went above and beyond for me, from meeting me at my house for a trial hair and make-up session (twice!) to going to San Jose for me to pick up extensions because our local store didn't have what she recommended. Her calming voice & demeanor are a plus too. I really liked that she was willing to hear my concerns and what I liked or not too. When I told her I was skeptical about having such big lashes, she tried different sizes to get the same "wow" effect that she said would look nice in photos - we both won in the end. South Asians - Look elsewhere
This review is for Joey. Writing this after two weeks to ensure I don't let emotions get in the way because I had strong, sad emotions on the day of. I had Joey as my artist. It was for my city hall wedding. Summary below. Detailed review followed.
Tl:dr: South Asians - find somebody else. Please.
The eye makeup was great but that was about it. The complexion matching and color correction was pretty bad. I have a pretty nice skin with no acne or scars - with one caveat. I'm south Asian so I have dark circles and slightly darkened skin around my lips. And Joey had neither the right products or the experience to...This review is for Joey. I'm south Asian so I have dark circles and slightly darkened skin around my lips. And Joey had neither the right products or the experience to even those out. We removed and reapplied the full base three times and still didn't get the results. The hair were rushed and hence didn't have the nice smooth, flowy bun which was the brief. Joey tried but I don't think this is their strength. Also, we decided to plan this in a few weeks so I didn't have time to do a trial. Definitely got burned. Joey is a nice person but I definitely wouldn't have chosen them if I'd done a trial.
Pros:
1. Both Fiona and Joey were good to talk to and coordinate. Joey came on time and was prompt with communication.
2. One star for the eye shadow application which was great. Lashes took a while to get right but great when they did!
Cons:
1. Complextion: My biggest brief to them was about evening out my skin tone around my lips and covering up my dark circles. And after three application and a cry session later - still didnt not get it right. She didn't have the right products to color correct or match the tone. Results: great eyelids with dark circles underneath and darkness around lips and on chin. I was in tear by the end of it.
2. Hair: I'd asked for a simple, loose bun with smooth hair. We'd even aligned on pictures. But because we'd spent so much time on the face, she didn't have time to smoothen and straighten. Only ended up curling into a tight bun full of hair spray and wax to get over that we hadn't straightened the hair. Wasn't what I wanted.
3. The base makeup didn't stay well beyond 5 hours (maybe because of the rushing at the end) and it became patchy after 5-6 hours.
All in all, please do a trial and if you're south Asian/ brown, please stay away. -
