I worked very closely with Keith at Illuminating Events. He worked with me on my budget and helped my vision come to life. Our wedding was at a ocean front beach house in Holden Beach, NC. I wanted lights underneath the house where the reception was and then also around the pool which is where the dancing would be. He came the day before the event and set everything up within an hour. IT WAS SO EASY! Keith was also one of the nicest vendors I have ever met and made the process so stress-free. Illuminating Events brought our wedding to LIFE. It was absolutely beautiful and I really think it is because of the beautiful lighting. I requested quotes from 3 other lighting companies in the area and Illuminating Events was the most responsive, had the best pricing, and was the easiest to work with. I highly recommend them- they will give you EXACTLY what you are looking for! Thank you Keith and the Illuminating Events team for making our wedding SHINE!! -

I would recommend keith solely on his work performance. His customer service skills could use some work but his ability to deliver far outweighs his communicational issues. I was super impressed by the lighting and drapery at my wedding and couldn't have been more please. -

Christina Sent on 01/06/2022Beautiful Custom Lighting for our Wedding that Wow'd our Guests
We hired Illuminating Events to provide and install the lighting for our outdoor tented wedding reception. This included string lights throughout the tent, uplighting, a custom light feature over our head tables, chandeliers, as well as edison bulb lighting over our cocktail area. This was a tall order, but Keith executed it beautifully. We had a “glass bottle” theme for our wedding since we chose to have our ceremony at Airlie Garden’s bottle chapel. We met up with Keith at a coffee shop one afternoon and brainstormed a completely custom lighting fixture for over the center of the tent. We provided the glass bottles and Keith made them into a string-light pendant fixture that truly brought all of the decor together for the reception. It was absolutely stunning, exactly what we were envisioning, and we received so many compliments. Throughout the process, communication was not one of Keith’s strong points. It often took several weeks to get a response from him after several emails, phone calls and text messages, which I will admit was quite alarming, especially in the weeks leading up to the wedding. However, on our wedding day - he pulled through and produced an absolutely unforgettable product for us. His creativity is off the charts and we are so glad we were able to experience his expertise for our big day. -

I hired Illuminating Events to provide outdoor string lights for my 10/18/20 wedding but he never showed up. He cashed the check for the last payment right before our event, but no one has been able to get in touch with him. Once or twice he's called back but hung up right away. A simple response as to why he didn't show up isn't too much to ask! -

I know I am in the minority here, but Keith was the least caring/attentive vendor I had for my wedding. Absolutely unresponsive after receiving the deposit. Didn't make any effort to tell his clients that he was going out of town, so we were calling like crazy and and sending dozens of emails for almost a week with absolutely NO ANSWER. He was given a time to show up by our wedding planner at 11 am. I arrive at the venue at 3:45 (my ceremony started at 5:30) and where were the lights? NOWHERE. WE HAD NO LIGHTS. Didn't even bother showing up until past 4:30. MY GUESTS HAD TO WALK THROUGH A MINI CONSTRUCTION ZONE JUST TO GET TO THE CEREMONY. How would you feel if you invested a large sum of money to have a nice wedding and one of your vendors is out in the front banging lights into the ground and your guests had to walk AROUND to avoid potentially getting hit? I was mortified to say the least.
My husband and I tried to give Keith a chance to explain himself and offer a solution. He never emailed us to apologize. So we emailed him to get the ball rolling. And what did we get? "Sorry we had other things going on that day and we lost track of time." Remind me why I paid you full price when the lights weren't even up as I was WALKING DOWN THE AISLE? We didn't get full use of the lights, but you sure got the full amount of my money.
No thanks. I guess he's great when he wants to give you attention, but beware if he's "too busy" to care about you on your day. Not worth the risk in my opinion. Never recommending them to anyone.
