Ian is seriously the best. Just stop whatever you're doing and book him! He's insanely talented and so easy to work with. His style is so unique and artistic; I can't even imagine having anyone else shooting us at our wedding. It felt like Ian was a part of the family that night, and I can't thank him enough for being a part of our big day!

I first saw Ian at work at my best friend's wedding, and she raved about just how good of a photographer he was and that their family will only book him for photos. Ian showed me some of the pictures he was taking, and the very next I day I booked him for my wedding! I started following him on facebook and instagram and just fell in love with his style -- I feel like he doesn't just take pictures, he creates art. On top of that, his personality is just delightful. It felt like we where kicking it back with a old friend, which made the all of our pictures look natural and carefree even if we where actually posing. I am also glad to say that the cycle of business for him continued, just like how I booked him after seeing his work at a friends wedding, I found out that two of my bridesmaids picked up his contact info for their own upcoming wedding! He is the real deal and you won't be disappointed. I would highly recommend Ian for your wedding!

Ian came to our wedding with 2 photographers . The 3 of them were amazing. Our photos came out great... There is so many to choose from. I love the vintage feel our photos have... They are so unique and def different from all of my friends wedding photos. I would say, it's a very specific style so be sure to see samples ... Ian thank you - you were great!

Ian is a wonderful photographer! My sisters and I met Ian at a Starbucks and very quickly realized that his friendly, approachable personality along with his enthusiasm and passion for his work would be the best fit for us. From the moment we met for our gorgeous engagement shoot he made us feel relaxed and natural, he became a friend from that day on. When we saw him again on the wedding day, it was like seeing one of your family members on your special day. After seeing our wedding pics, it was almost as if he was never there as he was so unobtrusive but captured every single moment we could have hoped for and hundreds we would have missed. His second and third shooters had comparable styles. All of the photos has the same quality and style. He also offered a photo booth which our guests loved. If you are looking for a photographer to capture the true essence and feeling of your wedding day, then look no further – Ian Sbalcio is the man for the job!

Ian was incredible to work with, we enjoyed every moment. After our engagement photos, we knew we hit a homerun with him. Many people told us the engagement photos are just a test, if we got a few good ones out of the bunch we would be good. Literally every picture that Ian took was awesome! He is extremely talented behind the lens, professional, and so nice during the shoot, he knew what he was doing, and we fully trusted him.

Our wedding date fell on the weekend of Snowstorm Jonas. We moved it to a day earlier, as the snow would have just started at that point. Ian was able to make the necessary adjustments, and arrived right on time along with his assistant photogs. Ian was great with the bridal party, and everybody enjoyed his presence, he was chatting and keeping everybody comfortable. He and his team were great with both the Bridal Party and Groomsmen, By the time the ceremony ended, the snow was coming down. Ian saw this as an opportunity to grab some snow shots. We gladly followed his lead, and he already had his intended shots laid out and ready to go. It was a very smooth process. The shots that he took were absolutely breathtaking, he captured the moment perfectly; the snowfall and empty city made for some awesome pictures! He was able to show us a few shots within a few hours, and we were blown away!

After the wedding ended, he asked if we would be up to take a few more shots walking back to our hotel in the snow. Ian was once again very quick to pick out the right shots, and captured each moment perfectly. He is truly passionate about his craft, and we loved working with him. We would recommend Ian to anybody looking for a photographer, even if they didn't ask, he was just that good.

Ian was an absolutely incredible person to work with. He always responded within hours, if not right away and answered all my questions. He was open to any ideas I had and I couldn't be happier with the photographs he took. They took our breath away and our friends and family were in awe. Where to start? Hiring Ian as our wedding photographer was the best decision that we made! From our engagement photos in Georgetown, which were absolutely stunning to our wedding day, Ian made us feel so comfortable in front of the camera. Ian's artistic perspective was exactly what we were looking for in our wedding photos. He managed to truly capture the essence of our day. I know our selection of photos will be amazing because anytime something was happening, Ian or his additional shooters were there to photograph it in a completely unobtrusive way. After just a few days, we received the first set of amazing photos to review, which were a great teaser!

Ian is really personable, professional and easy to work with. We were looking for someone we would be comfortable with and Ian makes it very easy to be in front of the camera. He was super flexible with scheduling our engagement pictures and ended up suggesting we do a sunrise shoot that we couldn't be happier with. He'll make you laugh and give you an excellent product. Ian has a talent for seeing the world as if his subjects are starring in the movie of their lives. We hired Ian for our engagement shoot and wedding and I was astounded with his ability to use light to make very dramatic shots. Everyone I showed them to has the same jaw-dropping reaction. I chose Ian because I saw he had a talent for capturing the relationships and the emotion of the moment rather than shooting "stuff" like rings and shoes (though he will certainly take those shots too, and do an amazing job). Also, Ian did a great job shooting our horses for the engagement shoot--I know animal photography has be tricky and it's not something he does all the time, but you would never know it.

I knew Ian through a friend of mine and knew he did amazing work, so when I got engaged I knew I wanted to have him do our wedding photos. Unfortunately, Ian was already booked for our date so we decided to go ahead and do engagement photos with him. Ian was so responsive and flexible, working with our busy schedules to find time to go around DC to do the engagement shoot.

We ended up meeting him at sunrise and took some photos at the Lincoln memorial, then went into Georgetown and ended in Crystal City where we live. It was Ian's idea to meet at sunrise and we got some amazing shots, and didn't have to deal with people getting in the way. Ian was great at making us feel comfortable in front of the camera and directing us what to do. He has an amazing eye! His photos have a cinematic feel like he's capturing a live moment rather than a still photo.

The turnaround for our photos was SO fast. And that in no way took away from the quality and editing that was done. All of our photos had so much character. Ian posted a little sneak peek on his blog through Facebook and we were immediately flooded with compliments from family and friends with how great the photos looked. We ended up featuring a couple of his photos on our wedding invitation- which we also received many compliments on! His work is truly art and we are so happy to have these photos we can always look back on. You will not regret working with Ian!

Working with Ian was absolutely fantastic! My husband and I were amazed that he truly captured our vision for our engagement and wedding photos, and that our photos were unique and special to our day. Ian's photos are incredible and every one of them captured our day in a different way. I have no idea how he did it but he managed to discreetly be in the right place at the right time to snap all the best parts of the day. I was also very grateful for the fact that he knows how to take exceptionally high-quality photographs without taking too much time to set them up, this meant we got all the formal photos we wanted without anyone having to stand around for long at all, and this meant we could get on and enjoy the day. Also, despite us not wanting to spend long posing for the camera, Ian's creativity and quick-thinking meant he also found beautiful places to shoot us even though our venue was a little cramped and we needed to be inside for much of the time as it was winter. He was extremely flexible both on the day and beforehand - we felt very lucky because he agreed to shoot our wedding at short notice - and many of our guests remarked on how professional he was at the same time as being fun to be around.

I've been to a lot of weddings, and seen a lot of friends' wedding photos, but there is something different about the way Ian takes photos, he makes you look like a movie star with very little effort (even people who aren't photogenic like my husband and I!), he can take the classic wedding portraits one minute, and a minute later he'll have a burst of creativity which will give you something completely different to treasure as well.

Ian's photographs and his post-production skills are very very special, and I've been highly recommending him to everyone I know because I know they won't be disappointed.

Ian and his crew are the best. From the engagement photos to the wedding, everything was perfect. Ian was responsive, flexible, fun to work with and most importantly, very talented. All of the pictures turned out so beautifully and captured the day and all of its emotions perfectly. His photos are on another level compared to the many other photographers we met with. After our wedding we even had a few requests from our guests to get Ian's information so they could use his as their wedding photographer. He was non-intrusive on our wedding day, yet he got pictures that I had no idea he even captured. I would highly recommend using Ian Sbalcio photography for your wedding! My wedding is in Delaware, and due to that their were limited options for different types of photography styles or they were already booked. So I had to start looking at the outskirts of Delaware. That made me nervous because all the good photographers were getting booked out or not within our budget. I found Ian on this site and was so amazed by his talent as well as my fiancé. We were really keeping our fingers crossed that one he was available for our wedding date and two that he would be within our budget range. Once we emailed him he was promptly on emailing us back and from their on answering any questions we had. Everything was a smooth sailing from their, in our package he had included an Engagement session and we made it on a date both available to us in Washington DC right in time for the cherry blossom festival. Before we met my fiancé and I were nervous that he was to good to be true:) We met and he made us feel super comfortable in the whole session directing us how to stand, where to look, and just to have fun! and we did! My fiancé and I were so thrilled from the session that we can't wait to see him on our wedding day! The engagement photos were absolutely stunning! He had editing them in matter of weeks and we were happy with every single one of them! My fiancé and I often admire his other portfolios from other sessions on Facebook and they are simply amazing and can't get enough! Ian is a true artist and we were absolutely lucky to find him!

We could not asked for a better crew than Ian's. He had photographed my cousin's wedding, and we had to have him after seeing her results. He was very professional throughout the process and easily communicated with us throughout the process. On the day of, he and his other photographer were present, but in no way a hindrance. We have a thunderstorm pop up on us for our ceremony and cocktail hour. Ian continued to shoot in the rain, never once complaining, and making it a very personal, intimate, and amazing experience. We totally forgot that we were wet, dirty, or rushed. He was extremely creative and willing to break from the norm. The day after our ceremony, he provided us a photo from our shoot to enjoy, and then he had a quick posting of about ten photos to share with our friends the next day. I could not recommend him enough!

I became a HUGE fan and follower of Ian Sbalico’s work before he captured the magic of my son’s wedding. My son’s fiancé first introduced me to Ian's work through his web site, and I couldn’t stop looking at his STUNNING photography…his work is FANTASTIC! In my opinion, the most important person at the wedding, other than of course, the bride and groom, is the PHOTOGRAPHER! So needless to say, I was thrilled when my son and his fiancé picked Ian to be their photographer. During their Engagement Session, Ian took the most jaw-dropping gorgeous photo perfectly timed with the Savannah sunset….absolutely breathtaking! All of the other Engagement photos were equally spectacular, and the Wedding photos he took captured the wonderful magic, beauty, love, and fun of the day! Ian was our photographer for our wedding in August. We aren't the easiest people to work with and I had several things to discuss prior to the wedding, and he was always very responsive. He can work by himself or bring along a second photographer if you want (which is what we did). They were both very prompt and were great despite the long hours we requested. He is also very fast with the photos, so there is no waiting around for months and months, dying to see how the photos look! It ended up raining the entire morning and afternoon at our wedding, so unfortunately we couldn't take any outdoor shots but we made do with what we had and got some good photos from inside the photo. We were able to go out for a short while on the terrace of the hotel in between the ceremony and reception, when the rain held up briefly, and those photos are amazing (on a dark, gloomy sky lit evening) so I can only imagine how it would have looked if we were able to do all our photos outside when it was sunny. On some days, I think we should just hire him again and get dolled up as if it was the wedding again so we could get some scenic, sunny outdoor shots and pretend it was from our wedding day! If you aren't very comfortable in front of the camera, his packages also include a pre-wedding bridal shoot. I forgot about it as I was really busy leading up to the wedding, but I would definitely recommend if you are awkward like me when you see a camera!

Brides-to-be: To be brief--just hire Ian. Wedding photos are one of things your family will treasure beyond your years. Forget the videography--who wants to watch that besides maybe you or your children once? Ian is a wonderfully gifted & creative photographer. We had never taken professional photos prior to meeting Ian, and he immediately put us at ease. Ian photographed our engagement photos at a new location in Arlington, VA and captured the artistic vision my fiancé and I had hoped for. He was extremely flexible with the date, time and location of our session which set the tone for a great first meeting. Ian made sure to capture shots that were important to us, the gorgeous sunset that evening and also incorporated the natural elements around us into the photos. Ian is 100% professional and approachable, and I highly recommend him to anyone looking for a quality photographer. We cannot wait to work with him on our wedding day! 5 stars all around!

Ian is a creative genius. He photographed our engagement photos at an unfamiliar location and still created genuine, breath taking photos. I could see his artist mind working as the sun was setting, and he captured incredible shots of us. He did not waste one second of our photo shoot. My husband and I would highly recommend Ian as a photographer for engagement and wedding photos. He put us both at ease- as often those pictures can looked forced and be uncomfortable. Ian also took initiative to take candid photos of our two dogs who came along with us on the shoot. A year later Ian touched up one of those photos, can't say enough positive things about his positive attitude and professionalism.

I would highly recommend Ian as a wedding photographer. A professional journalist by day, Ian truly has an eye for what will make a beautiful photograph. From the moment of contact, Ian was nothing but friendly, organized and genuinely enthusiastic about his role in such an important day. During our engagement session, Ian made my fiance and I feel extremely comfortable and found creative places and suggested poses that would make for beautiful pictures. Our engagement photographs were gorgeous, and we loved the ease and convenience of his method of sharing the pictures through a dropbox. In the months leading up to the wedding, Ian was easy to contact and always responded to my concerns, question and requests quickly. The day of the wedding, Ian showed up early and stayed late to ensure he captured every detail. I had a large wedding party, and he did a fantastic job keeping everyone focused and kept pictures moving so we could stay on track with our wedding day timeline. Everyone felt comfortable in front of Ian and appreciated all of his suggestions for poses. I also loved how he was able to take some great candid shots of all the fun happening at the reception. Ian felt like such a big part of the wedding day, I even made sure to get a picture with him before the night was over! You cannot go wrong with choosing Ian Sbalcio as your wedding photographer.

If I could have given Ian 1 million stars I would!! We had an unfortunate situation where our first photographer we booked took our engagement pictures and we ended up hating them. Thankfully I was able to find Ian and contact him and just a couple weeks before our wedding he was luckily available and was able to squeeze in an amazing engagement shoot! He was so friendly and gave lots of direction on how to stand for pictures and pose. He also was able to find unique places to take some amazing shots! After receiving my engagement pictures and just the energy Ian had, I knew we had made the right choice! Photography is such an important part of a wedding, or any special event, and Ian is proof of that! On my wedding day he showed up early and stayed til late and made sure to capture every single detail! My wedding pictures look like something out of a magazine! I know I will be able to re-live my wedding through the pictures for years to come! I would HIGHLY recommend Ian photography!!

We used Ian for our engagement shoot and wedding photography and he was great to work with. Our engagement shoot was extremely challenging (we chose to do it by the cherry blossoms in D.C. and wanted to have our two uncooperative dogs in the pictures) but Ian was really game to give it a go and got some awesome shots of us.

The wedding photography was fantastic. I got everything I wanted (including last minute "Hey, Ian, can you come take a picture of all my cousins?" and "can you take some more close shots of my dress for my blog" etc.) which was really nice. I can't wait to see more of the final shots. I'd definitely recommend Ian to anyone. :)

Ian came recommended by a friend when I was looking for a photographer to shoot my band while we were recording in the studio. As a beginner photographer and fellow artist, and I have very high expectations when it comes to photography. A lot of photographers take amazing, high quality pictures, but they can seem lifeless or staged. For me, what distinguishes a truly talented photographer is the ability to capture the magic of the moment, organically, Kodak style. Ian delivered. I couldn't be more happy with the results. I have since hired him for professional photos as well as subsequent band events. Great guy, fun to work with, and a true master of his craft. I will most definitely be enlisting his services in the future and I suggest you do as well. Highly recommend!!!

This vendor was very nice and cordial. He has a lot of very good ideas and all the pictures cam out beautiful. I would recommend this vendor to anyone planning their wedding.

My husband and I didn't have a formal wedding. Instead it was just the two of us with the officiant and Ian in a beautiful garden in DC. Even though we did not have a wedding, we wanted to remember and document our special day with beautiful photographs. Ian made us so comfortable, he had creative ways to shoot us together and separately, and he asked us about our background so that he knew our story before we even met. We absolutely love our photographs and have several of our favorite ones hanging up in our apartment and with family. Ian's prices are reasonable and we certainly felt we got a good deal for what we paid. He's a very talented photographer and I would recommend him to anyone who wants a great photographer for a special day.

Ian is an amazing photographer! He did our engagement pictures and we couldn't be happier. We had a lot of requirements and he exceeded our expectations. He captured indoor and outdoor pictures, including bar shots and pictures with my classic car. We still receive compliments on our pictures! I will definitely recommend him to anyone, and we plan on using him in the future for other important events!

We used Ian for our engagement photos and will be having him shoot our upcoming wedding in September. If i could give Ian 6 stars, I would! Ian is very professional, yet very easygoing and fun to be around. You will NOT be disappointed when you receive your final shots. I would recommend Ian to anyone. Amazing photographer!

My (now) husband and I researched and interviewed many photographers for our big day. From the planning process, establishing a contract, to the details of the day, Ian was incredibly professional and responsive, while also having a naturally calming and friendly personality. As the Bride, I appreciated this very much! Ian was focused on maintaining a stress-free and fun evironment for his clients. Ian took the time to listen to our "vision" and really made us feel confident that he would capture the true "vibe" of our wedding, important memories, and happy times. And he certainly did just that! Ian was organized and punctual. Ian made himself available to photograph our ENTIRE wedding day. Throughout the day, his attention to detail, unique creativity, and ability to capture even the smallest moment, was astounding. We wanted our photos to tell a story. Ian captured objects, people, settings, special moments, feelings and fun. He stayed with us and captured every memory of the wedding party getting ready, event preparation, ceremony, portraits, cocktail, dinner reception, and dancing. I thank Ian for not only being a great person to work with, but also for providing us timeless memories that will be with us forever. I have worked with Ian on several shoots. I have also recommended him to friends who have all been thrilled with his work. He has taken family portraits for us, as well shooting our engagement party on 1/26/13. I definitely plan to use his services for our formal engagement pictures this summer and have also asked him to travel with us and photograph our destination wedding in 2014.

Ian's tremendous talent is more than obvious in his portfolio - the pictures speak for themselves. But you can also be assured that he is a true professional and a great deal of fun. I am a bit of a control freak and tend to stress out about the details, but Ian is one of the few people who always finds a way to keep me calm and make sure I don't forget to enjoy the experience as well. I trust him with all of my special celebrations and I know he will be a part of all of the big moments of my life for years to come.

Ian takes wonderful photos! The emotion in all of his photos is simply breathtaking. I WISH he was around to take photos for my wedding, but it was prior to him starting. HOWEVER, he has taken photos of our children, and they could not have been captured by a better photographer. We are requesting him for an upcoming shoot and I was on his website and looking over his portfolio. It makes me want to have another wedding just so i can have Ian take our wedding shots. He has a great personality, a vision to make even the most intricate details the bride wants taken and creates these wonderful works of art. The best way I can describe his work is by saying that when you look at the photos he has taken, you actually feel like you are there!!!

We used Ian for both our engagement and wedding photos last year and he did a phenomenal job. As a person who doesn't particularly enjoy having their photo taken, Ian was up for the challenge to get me to relax and have fun. He is incredibly talented and easy to work with. His communication was always very quick and helpful. On the day of our wedding, a massive storm took out the power in our area, but he managed to still capture amazing moments with a unique lighting situation. It was also over 100 degrees that day, but that didn't stop him for a second from running around to get pictures from every angle. From the photos of our ceremony, you would think there was 3 photographers there, but it was just him! He is truly a wonderful photographer to work with, and I would highly recommend him.

Ian was great to work with. He shot both our engagement shoot and wedding/reception. He did such an amazing job capturing the scenery, the group(s), individuals, literally everything. You would've thought there were five photographers during the ceremony. We had a very non-traditional reception and Ian did a great job capturing everything. The candid shots, especially on the dance floor were some of the best. He seemed to find every smiling face in the room.
Ian was always very professional and you can tell he absolutely loves what he does. You won't find anybody that works harder than him.

Ian was absolutely awesome to work with! He took pictures that I had wanted (like the traditional grandmother, mom, and bride pic:) but he was also really creative and captured lots of beautiful candid shots. Ian was really timely in getting the pictures back to us--- a huge plus when mother-in-laws are chomping at the bits to get framed pictures. Thanks Ian for being part of our day!

We had Ian as our photographer for our engagement shoot as well as our wedding. Ian has a calm and welcoming demeanor that make you feel at ease. He has a great eye and can capture unique moments that last a lifetime. Communication from the engagement shoot through our wedding was effortless. In the end, the pictures come in an easily accessible format that allows you to download and share.

We really enjoyed all of our photos and know that we made the perfect choice for our wedding photographer! We highly recommend Ian!

I have worked with Ian on several shoots as makeup artist, and I have to say that it is always a joy working with him. He always manages to see what you don't with a subject. He is a very calming energy as well as an inspiring person to work with. I recommend him to every bride I can!

My husband and I were very pleased with the services provided by Ian Sbalcio at our wedding this fall. Our original photographer was unable to join us at the last minute, and we desperately needed someone. I called Ian on the recommendation of a friend, and we were so impressed with how quickly he adapted to our needs for the ceremony and reception. As any bride knows, when something goes wrong at the last minute, it can really turn the wedding upside down, but Ian really stepped up for us. The day of our wedding was overcast, yet Ian was able to catch so many moments with great lighting. He also turned returned our photos to us much more quickly than we expected. I would recommend his services to any bride!

I new Ian as a friend before I knew him as a photographer. I was at first a little nervous about hiring a friend, but those worries were quickly pushed aside when we began discussing working with each other. I was very impressed at his organization and professionalism.

Ian really impressed me with his vision of what a good wedding album should be. Spoiler alert, it's a collection of photographs that someone who isn't at the wedding should be able to view and get a real feel for what the day was like.

Through out the day I only noticed Ian at the very beginning of the day when he arrived, other than that the only two ways we could notice him were; first by the wonderful collection of photographs we received, and second by pictures friends and family took on their phones that caught Ian snapping his photographs.

I couldn't have been happier with our photos and I highly recommend Ian.

Ian did a fantastic job as our photographer!! Found him through his website for our engagement photos, and we were so pleased with how well they turned out, we knew that he would be the perfect choice to capture our special day! Not only did he get all the pictures that every bride wants to have for her wedding, but he also got all those priceless impromptu moments too! Easy going, hard worker, and a great album. Ian is an excellent photographer. Not only does he have the eye for great candid photos, but he is an excellent editor, as well. I was pleased with the selection and the amount of photographs that we received for the price. You can tell that he enjoys his work, which makes it easy to work with him. Every bride is different, but it was really important to my (now) husband and I that we get a photographer to capture the MOOD of our wedding. We wanted someone who could come in and get a read on the room and capture the emotion of the day in a candid less-staged manner. The posed pictures were great as well, but we were thrilled when we first got a glimpse of the photos at how well Ian seemed to know each and every one of our family members, based on how he captured them, without having met most of them. Would definitely recommend!
