Hotel Del Coronado Crown Jewel

The Hotel Del Coronado was our daughter's dream wedding venue. To say the Del and incredible staff lived up to her and our expectations is an understatement. They are incredible to work with for a perfect outcome. The Del is unparalleled for beauty and elegance, and the best place to begin your lifetime of memories. We are beyond grateful to everyone from the front door man and the phenomenal chef, to the excellent Resort Manager. Look no farther than the Del for any event you want to host. They are truly the crown jewel of San Diego.

We enjoyed every minute of our wedding at the Hotel Del Coronado. Gloria Thorpe, Catering Manager, was an extreme pleasure to work with. She made our dreams come true. She was really easy to work with and so friendly. Our complimentary rooms were amazing! The service was impeccable. Our reception couldn't have been more perfect!

Getting married at the Hotel Del was amazing. By far, not the cheapest option, but the level of service, quality, and of course location, really made everything worth it.

The hotel itself is beautiful, but beyond that, the hotel staff really went above and beyond. Our wedding food was beyond amazing- all of our guests commented on how good everything was. Being a foodie type couple, and pretty picky, it was important to me not to serve mediocre food, and I couldn't have been happier.

Also, the staff did a great job. Everything was flawless, and dinner was served on time, seamlessly. I ordered three vegetarian dishes, that were ready and delivered to the appropriate people, and again, I was impressed by the quality of the vegetarian meals, and that they weren't just a throw away salad.

Our wedding was fairly small- we had 30 guests- and the hotel had 3 other, giant weddings happening at the same time. Despite all of the other events, we never felt like our wedding mattered less, and the property is large enough that we never really saw the other wedding events. If you are considering Coronado for your wedding venue, I highly recommend checking out the Hotel Del.

Hotel Del was a fantastic location for our wedding reception. The day couldn't have gone more perfect and smooth. Gloria was fantastic to wot with for catering and you pay for what you get. 5 star service, great staff, fantastic bar tenders. Everything was clean and organized!

This venue was great. They were so attentive to our needs. The grounds were beautiful and all of our guest were very impressed with view of the beach front ceremony.

This was just the perfect place for our dream each wedding. The staff was professional, courteous, and very helpful. The planner couldn't have been more perfect for us, Our guests were treated very well and it helped to have hotel rooms on site and very beautiful clean ones at that. If you are looking for a beach venue look no further. The view is stunning.

We were very lucky to have the budget to do things a little differently. Our guests enjoyed both a a "cocktail hour" and food stations before our "main sit down dinner"

We hired experinced nannies for guests with children. This was especially wonderful for parents that had children. The kids were able to eat and then be taken to an activity center in the hotel by hired "day care workers" A childrens pasta and pizza station was set up for the children. All arranged by the hotel.

Wine and cocktails were served during this section of our large celebration. We added a small "cocktail hour" for our guest (While myself and husband had 2 hours to greet the older guests in our families and take our photos) in which the following was served Meat and cheese display. Lovely and all of our guests enjoyed the variety of cheeses, meats and breads. These stations were set up beautifully and manned professionally.

The menu was out of this world! .

Our hors d'oeuvres consisted of Mini crab cakes, cheese stuffed artichokes, sun dried tomato phyllo, hotel del focaccia bites, mini beef fillet with horseradish sauce, lobster avocado and mango salad and jumbo shrimp.

Our main course consisted of Prime Beef of Rib with Horseradish sauce and truffle demiglace, tenderloin of beef warm marble potato salad, braised leeks, glazed carrots bordelaise, braised half chicken, sauteed greens, rosemary sweet corn polenta, roasted garlic jus.

We added a champagne fountain, and a coffee and dessert enhancement. By far this was my dream wedding!

Our wedding at the Hotel Del would not have been possible without the help and coordination between our amazing wedding planners at Event Girls/Extraordinary Events and Weddings and Stephanie Zaren, Catering Manager at the Hotel Del Coronado. Between them they were able to negotiate a rate that we could afford on our budget and make our dream wedding come true. Stephanie is the consummate professional and made sure that every last detail was simply perfect. Her catering staff headed by Damien was accomodating and helpful and the food was AMAZING. We had rave reviews from all of our guests! Thanks again to the Hotel Del Coronado and Event Girls Inc.!

My experience with Hotel del Coronado was top-notch. The food they catered was delicious. All of the guests loved the food. Most importantly, my catering manager, Gloria Thorpe, was the best person to work with. She was very responsive and catered to each and every one of mine and my husband's questions and requests. She was essential in making our wedding special and memorable. The Del was also flexible in providing alternatives for the unpredictable rain that occurred on our wedding day. It ended up being beautiful despite being inside. The price is a bit steep; however, my husband and I were willing to shell out the cost for the memory. We both love the Del and all of the history and beauty it has to offer. It sits in a special place in our heart, and forever in our memory.

I had my engagement party at Hotel Del this weekend. I can't say enough about how pleasant it was. We experienced terrific service and the team there was fantastic to work with. A great experience.

Absolutely wonderful venue. Ceremony and cocktail hour on beach and reception in Crown Room. Could not have been happier. Everything turned out perfectly.

I was able to arranged a ceremony only at the Del through Farrah. And now they are offering ceremony only events in their 2010 package :)

They are truly AMAZING! I recommend the Del to any bride!!

Farrah was originally my point of contact, but due to health related issues she was out of the office as our wedding came closer. However, Stephanie stepped in and she was spectacular!! She worked as if she was always part of our planning process!

Everything of done professionally and in order! I couldn't ask for anything more. The Del's staff really go all out for your wedding. It seemed that my wedding day was just as important to them as it was to me.

The Hotel Del Coronado is a beauty in it's own. The vintage charm, the beautiful ocean views, and the general allure that you stepped into a Victorian Era. On top of that, if you are as lucky as I was to get Farrah Lauren as your Catering Manager for your wedding, it can't get any better. Farrah is by far the most wonderful professional I have worked with. She is so accommodating, professional and Knowledgeable. I really can't imagine not having her guide me through this emotional process. Our wedding looked beautiful, and Farrah was a key part in making it all happen.

If you get the choice of who to work with Farrah is amazing!

I worked with Gloria and was absolutely thrilled with my small wedding at the Del. We rented the garden and had an intimate reception in the Windsor room; the Garden was beautiful and the room/room views were amazing. The Hotel Del team was professional and accommodating, and I am glad I chose the Del for our big day.

The venue was pricey and the staff just a little disorganized, but they do require you to have a wedding planner and that turned out to be a God send! Our wedding planner had a lot of experience with this venue and knew how to work with the staff to make it turn out flawless.

Gorgeous venue, threw us an amazing party, really nice hotel rooms, didn't get mad at us for partying super late... Did have some problems with the room finances during checkout ie) guests who were supposed to get complimentary rooms received invoices on their final day for the cost of room tax, which annoyed some people. But a few phone calls and everything got sorted out. The one guest whose finances really got messed up, ended getting all her incidentals free for the whole weekend. The ballroom where we had the reception was GORGEOUS. Great poolside bar and surfboard rentals!!!!

Very amazing space but lots of red tape

The hotel is an amazing place to have a wedding but it is VERY expensive and very hard to work with. There is a lot of red tape and no room for flexibility. The team worked with us but it was a very hard and took a long time long time to get oks on things. They require you to hire a wedding planner from their list and I hired Korie From Bliss Events who was amazing and really helped navigate all the red tape and make it a much easier process. I want to thank Whitney Taylor who works in the wedding department at the del and was really amazing to work with and really did every thing she needed to help us and make it an amazing event!

Hotel del is an absolutely gorgeous venue! The location is spectacular with ocean views and a historic hotel making a great backdrop to the big day. We had a whole weekend of events on the property (welcome smores on the beach, farewell brunch) and guests couldn't stop commenting about the location. We did our ceremony and cocktail hour on the Windor lawn (complete with lawn games and antique furniture) and the reception in the spectacular crown ballroom. Only a few comments that made it not 5 stars. 1) we had 3 different banquet coordinators during the course of our planning and they didn't communicate well. Also the banquet coordinator was separate from AV which was separate from booking, making communication difficult. If it weren't for my wedding coordinator and my mom staying on top of things, I feel like things might have gotten dropped. 2) Our food was spectacular but the tasting was fairly limited in what we were allowed to taste, so we ended up picking multiple items for our wedding that we hadn't tasted ahead of time.

The planning of our wedding ceremony and cocktail reception was frustrating with the Hotel Del. They did not seem interested in our small ceremony until 3 weeks before our wedding. Our wedding sales contact wouldn't return calls or emails.
3 weeks out she handed us off to someone else because of her own wedding and impending move. Once Annie was in the picture the quality of service was wonderful and I had no complaints. I just wish she was with us from the beginning.

We had our reception dinner at the Sheer Water at the Hotel Del after being married on the beach. There was problem after problem with the management. Thankfully our guests weren't aware, but it made my day a bit more stressful then I would have liked.

The worst- never responded to multiple inquiries about our wedding.

I initially did not select Hotel Del Coronado as a potential venue, but my partner liked the look so we wanted to reach out for more information about their wedding packages.

Called them since the beginning of Sept, over two months ago, without any response whatsoever from the so-called ‘catering team’. Since September we have tried messaging them on Wedding Wire and The Knot, as well as through their own hotel website. We even spoke with the front desk of the hotel, who said they would leave a message with the catering department and ask them to contact us, but not a peep, ever.

We wonder if it may be because we are holding a smaller wedding (30 guests) and they think it is perhaps not worth their time that we did not get any response after multiple times trying to follow-up, leaving them our email, phone number etc. So they definitely could contact us if they had wanted to.

I feel this place gives off vibes of a mediocre venue with jacked up prices for tourists, and honestly the view is not even great (we noticed all the pictures are beautiful at first glance, but the decorations like flowers etc. Are what make them beautiful- the beach is just another beach view unremarkable from any other beach or oceanfront property).

We ended up signing our contract with The Lodge at Torrey Pines, and have had 100000X better experience with them so far. We think the venue is classier and much more beautiful with cliff side views of the Pacific Ocean. I am glad we avoided the disaster that could have been with Hotel Del.

They runied my wedding from beginning to end.

I was deeply disappointed with my experience at this hotel, especially on such a crucial occasion as my wedding day. Despite inquiring in advance about a contingency plan for rain, I was reassured there would be no need as it was unlikely to rain. Contrary to their assurances, it did rain, and it became apparent that no alternative arrangements had been made. Fortunately, my extensive experience of 38 years in the event and PR industry, along with my team's efforts, mitigated what could have been a disastrous situation. The hotel's response was notably dismissive, and the repeated refusals to accommodate our needs were frankly unacceptable. Adding insult to injury, the night event manager allowed her dog, Molly, to wander through our reception, which was both inappropriate and unprofessional.

Do not hire!

Stay away from this place unless you want a cookie cutter wedding with three others planned on the same day. They do not care at all about making your day feel special.

Stay away!

The so-called catering team is sooo hard to get a hold of and takes weeks and weeks for them to respond to even one little question. What are they doing there all day??? Don’t waste your time with this wedding producing factory! No personal attention or care at all.
