Once In A Lifetime Night!

I cant say enough about our DJ Mike. From the initial call in the spring to actually meeting him in October, he was incredibly responsive and easy to work with. He knows what couples are looking for from his many years of experience. We felt completely comfortable providing a few guidelines and then letting him take it away. Our guests loved him and our parents were touched when we played their first dance songs at our reception. Wish we could do it all over again!

Michael was the best to work with. During our meeting a couple weeks before our wedding he helped suggest songs for the entrances, guest arriving music and dinner music that were all absolutely perfect. On our wedding day, he arrived early and was set up long before the ceremony was to start - which if that is not reassurance I don't know what is! He helped make sure the bridal party knew what they were doing during the entrances and also made sure he pronounced all our names right. The way he MC'd through the reception was perfect...even when we did the shoe game and had a list of questions for him to ask, the way he asked them and added commentary made it all the funnier. On top of everything, the way he reads the crowd during the night and plays the music made the reception the best. From everything we heard, everyone had so much fun and we have to give credit to having the best DJ!

We worked with Michael and had a great experience with Horizon Entertainment! He was responsive throughout the process and made planning our playlist very easy. We were also able to meet him before our wedding to talk about details, which was very helpful. On our wedding day everything ran smoothly across every transition, and we were all on the dance floor enjoying the music the entire night!

Michael did a fantastic job DJ'ing our wedding and kept our guests dancing all night! He had a simple website used to plan and communicate all of the music. He met with us a few weeks before the wedding to review the timeline and some of the important songs and always responded quickly when we had questions or wanted his input on song choices. He has extensive experience with weddings and other events and it showed. He kept the evening flowing nicely and let the music do the talking for him, which is exactly what we asked for. Overall, we would recommend Horizon (Michael) to all of our family and friends looking for a DJ in the DC area.

If you are looking for the best DJ around, then look no further. Book Michael now! We could not have been more happy with our DJ experience with him. He was fantastic to work with. Michael played for our Cocktail hour and for our reception. He listened to what we wanted and more importantly, kept the dance floor hopping the entire evening. The sound quality is awesome with his Bose equipment. The guests were raving about how much they enjoyed him and his music. Our experience was more than we ever expected with him! You will not regret booking this fantastic DJ....!!! On another note, my brother, who lives in NC, booked Michael also for his wedding in NC. He was so impressed with him at our wedding. We attended that wedding this past weekend, and again, Michael was amazing! This time we experienced the sound system for the wedding ceremony. Then for the reception time, he included his fantastic lighting system. We would highly recommend him. He deserves more than 5 stars!

I don't even know where to start with how AMAZING Horizon Entertainment is! The music was extremely important to my husband and Micheal was nothing short of fantastic! Micheal was a pleasure to work with and met us prior to the wedding to discuss our must haves in terms of ceremony music, reception music, announcements and introductions. He was spectacular! The party was so fun that we kept it going for an hour longer and Micheal was totally agreeable. I would highly recommend Horizon Entertainment as your next DJ. You get a professional service with great equipment too!

DJ Mike from Horizon was fantastic. He met with us ahead of time to talk out the details and to get a sense of us as a couple. When we sought his advice on songs, he had the best recommendations. He was friendly yet professional and the timeline for the reception and ceremony went so smoothly. Our dance floor was never empty and the reception was a blast. We would definitely recommend Mike as a DJ!

I was referred to Michael by two other friends who'd had him DJ their weddings. I liked what I saw so asked him to do our wedding (cocktail hour and reception) on July 8th. He gave us an excellent rate and was thorough in going over all the songs for our cocktail hour and reception a couple of times (one main phone call, one follow up closer to the date). He gave a good suggestion to replace the traditional bouquet / garter toss, which my husband and I didn't want to do. We instead did an anniversary dance, during which couples were asked to keep staying the higher the year they'd been married and it turned out great! We had a great mix of music, and everyone kept dancing the entire time - even asking / begging for an encore at the end of the night! Michael truly made our wedding reception a memorable and exciting evening. I highly recommend him.

Michael set our wedding on FIRE!!! All of our family and friends in attendance had nothing but great things to say. One of my good buddies came up and said "Man, you guys did well hiring a DJ who doubles as a hype man!" What a treat it was to not have to worry about the songs that would be played and whether there would be dead/awkward silence. Michael really knows what he is doing and how to integrate the music selection with the crowd. Our guests were of all different backgrounds...Caucasian, African American, Hispanic, Middle Eastern, Asian, you name it!!! Michael had everyone on their feet and having a grand ol' time. I would highly recommend Horizon for your special day!

We hired Horizon Entertainment for our wedding. David, our DJ was amazing! Our guests had a blast, he helped us with the music and the flow of the songs was just perfect! He read the crowd and kept the party going. I have never been to a wedding where the dance floor was full the whole night, and at our wedding it was. David was absolutely amazing, you could not go wrong in hiring this company and I fully recommend hiring David as your DJ!

We worked with David Jefferies and we are so happy that we did! David was extremely helpful and responsive as we were leading up to the day. He gave us a ton of advice on various aspects of the wedding day, beyond just the DJ parts. We decided not to use a day-of coordinator and David went above and beyond to ensure we were running smoothly through everything we had planned and stepped in to help with "the little things" to keep us on track. He brought a ton of energy to the dance floor. My dad felt especially comfortable and grateful for David as he helped to set a great mood for both the key dances and speeches of the evening. "DJ Dave" set the perfect mood for our perfect day and I would give Horizon Entertainment and David 6 stars if I could!

Working with Dave was a blast! He arrived early to set up and gave clear instructions to the bridal party and myself and my wife on the events of the day. He kept the party going and for the crowd out on what tunes to play next. We are a Latin family and he kept everyone on the dance floor with all of the songs we requested. We had so much fun meeting and working with Dave. His warm and friendly personality, professionalism, experience, and positive attitude will keep everyone on the dance floor! We just had our wedding on May 28, 2016. Michael was fabulous to work with, he always responded within a day or two and he was very easy to get a long with. We accidentally paid too much and he told us immediately and sent a check in the mail with the difference.

During the wedding night he brought some lights that we didn't even ask for and they looked great! He played great songs and everyone had an amazing time. Thank you so much Micheal!

We were first introduced to Horizon Entertainment at the Washington Bridal Show in the Patriot Center (Eagle Bank Arena) and were very pleased with what we saw. We didn't have a very large budget for our wedding but our DJ, Michael, was very understanding and worked with us to give us a top notch experience for our reception. He was very professional and classy, and he did an excellent job at getting people out on the dance floor. A few months after our wedding, we were thrilled to see him again at a friend's wedding who had been so impressed with him at ours that she booked him on the spot.

We highly recommend Horizon Entertainment and would be excited to use them again! They are extremely professional and work with you to give the best experience possible.

We couldn’t have been happier with the decision to hire Horizon Entertainment. Mike did a great job explaining their services and set us up with the best package for us. Since he was familiar with our venue (Inn at Vint Hill, Warrenton, VA), he knew exactly what we needed and made recommendations for making our night memorable. Our DJ was Dave Jefferies (DJ Dave), and he was AMAZING! We had two in-person meetings with him prior to the ceremony and reception, and his professionalism ensured we were all on the same page. Horizon Entertainment has a website where you enter all the info about the ceremony, schedule, and music you want. This is then used by the DJ to manage the day. The system was easy to use and Horizon Entertainment had a huge catalogue of music to choose from. DJ Dave has many years’ experience, and he provided several tips and advice to make the best of the DJ services. His attention to detail assured us, leaving us with one less thing to worry about for the big day. He arrived several hours early to ensure everything was setup. Everything went as planned for the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception.

Now more about DJ Dave… Many of our guests came up to us during and after the wedding complimenting the fantastic job he did. He was outgoing, friendly, and has a persona and voice that definitely left a positive impression for everyone in attendance. We’ve both been to several weddings where the DJ was “quirky” or just didn’t interact well with the guests. DJ Dave was truly amazing and exceeded our expectations far beyond our imagination. Thank you to DJ Dave and Horizon Entertainment for helping make our big day memorable!

Working with Michael (the owner and our DJ) was one of the most pleasant vendor experiences we had during our wedding process. He always gave us as much time as we needed during each phone and in-person planning meeting, and we never felt rushed or pressured in any way. We were impressed with the online planning tool they provided, which allowed us to easily create a schedule for the day as well as submit music selections for various parts of the evening. Even though we had a large, challenging, and unique venue, Michael handled it as if he had been there many times before. He arrived appropriately early and set up a high quality sound system which provided wonderful sound throughout the evening. Michael also stayed true to the requests we made regarding the feel we desired for different portions of the night, and had definite expertise at feeling the mood of the crowd to keep everyone (from older, shy couples to our 30-something single friends, to children/teenagers) dancing all night long. We and our guests enjoyed the fantastic adaptive uplighting which changed color depending on song and time in the reception. He even went above and beyond and handled some basic tasks for us, including communication with the venue and caterer, things that were not directly DJ related. You know you’re working with a true professional when many guests take the time to complement your vendors. Michael was a perfect DJ we would recommend to anyone.

Horizon Entertainment was awesome! I spoke to Michael when we were finalizing the contract and he was very accommodating and personable.
Dave was our DJ and he was AWESOME! We met him at a Wedding Expo and my husband and I knew he would be a perfect fit for our wedding. He got the crowds attention so well and made sure everything stayed on schedule. So many of our guests and even our caterers said he was the best DJ they've ever seen. There is no way our wedding would have ran as smoothly without Dave. Their website allows you to pick all the songs you want played and all the songs you don't want played. It even has suggestions of popular songs if you get stuck. They're the best!

Michael was the DJ for our daughter's wedding -- And he was great! From his fun planning website to his experienced recommendations, the preparation was easy and enjoyable. Working in a challenging venue that limited his ability to broadcast in some rooms of the facility, Michael had everything set up and ready the moment or guests began to arrive. More than that, since we were working without a wedding planner, Michael flawlessly served as our "Master of Ceremonies" keeping all of the varied events on track with engaging and witty announcements, some of which he had to do without a microphone. His winning personality and infectious enthusiasm ensured the wedding party and all our guests had a wonderful time. This he was able to accomplish with a particularly difficult crowd -- not a group naturally given to dancing. He assured us he would get everyone up and dancing. We didn't believe this could be done -- but Michael did it! A truly memorable occasion, made all the more so by Michael's professionalism! If we had another wedding or similar event, without a doubt Michael would be our DJ again! We recommend him most highly for any event you want to enjoy!

I had the privilege of having Michael as the DJ for my ceremony and reception. He was absolutely FANTASTIC! Right from the beginning we had a great experience with Michael. We met in person to go over everything and make our first payment with him 1-2 months before the payment and then kept in touch through texts, phone calls, and emails right up until the event. He was incredibly responsive and was able to get back in touch with me ASAP at all times. Horizon Entertainment has a fantastic online tool which allowed me to map out the whole day and select all the songs I wanted played at the reception as well as a tool to show me the top songs played at weddings to give me an idea of where to go with my selections. About a week before the wedding was when things were really coming together and he helped me out so much with finalizing my music selections and actually recommending some great tracks and suggestions that we used for the big day. On the actual day he arrived early and put me at ease with his enthusiasm and helpfulness. The music for my ceremony was absolutely perfect. Once we got to the reception we really got to see him in action and is was great. Michael was able to read the crowd and played all the right songs at all the right times. My family could not stop ranting and raving about him and how much fun we had which was in large part from his excellent service and skills. He even was there at the end of the night helping the venue get things together AFTER the wedding was done. He was nonstop! Using Horizon Entertainment for my wedding was one of the best choices we made and I couldn't have been happier. Thank you so much Michael! It was the best day of my life in case I didn't tell you enough :)

We chose Horizon Entertainment off a recommendation from our wedding venue. After meeting with Derek, we were sold. However, after several months we received an e-mail from Derek advising us that he was no longer with the company. This concerned us as we liked his energy and style. Luckily, Michael stepped in as a professional and rectified the situation. He accommodated us and provided everything we needed and more. In the end, Michael was a perfect fit for our wedding. Michael arrived on-time, and was able to setup for the ceremony, which was outdoors. During this time, he also setup wireless speakers inside the uniquely shaped venue, as well as another outdoor station for the cocktail hour and dancing.

Michael stayed true to our style of music and our requested songs, while mixing in guest requests. During the dancing, everyone was on the dance floor and having a great time. This was due to do his ability to read the crowd and play the right songs. I enjoyed his love for 80's music, and was happy he listened to all of my requests. I was very pleased with the service I received, and the quality of the sound. I would recommend Michael to anyone looking for a DJ who is enthusiastic about music, flexible with style, and charismatic.

Derek from Horizon was SO helpful to us throughout the entire planning process. There were so many online tools for us to use to determine the timeline of our event and determine what kind of music we wanted for each portion of our event. We were able to select songs as "must play" and "do not play", and restrict requests from guests (for example: maximum of 3 country songs). Derek was always in touch in between meetings and made the process very easy for us! On the day of the event we were BLOWN away by the level of service we received. We expected a DJ but we got so much more. He kept the event on track and kept me up to date as to how we were tracking for the events (if we were running late). He made sure the bridal party had drinks directly after the ceremony which was awesome! He took requests and then ran them by the bride before playing them allowing me to veto any songs that I definitely did not want to hear. On top of all that, included in our package was a three string trio for our ceremony. I HIGHLY recommend Horizon to anyone planning a wedding. Their sound system is beyond what I have seen at any other wedding and the level of service was phenomenal.

Derek with Horizon Entertainment was fantastic to work with, from the start during the planning process he made you feel comfortable and made you know that you were in control of your wedding. He would suggest where he felt somethings could be smoother, but didn't push you to change your mind if that's not what you wanted. A week prior to the event our final meeting ironed out all of the hiccups and presented us with a easy to read and follow timeline.

On the day of our wedding Derek was at the venue and needed no instructions. He took it upon himself to find the answers so as not to bother us while we were all running around (i.e. electrical outlets, entrances, and vendors). As family and friends poured in to the reception area Derek rounded the tables to ask for requests, tell them to feel free to make a request, and just talk with people as if he had known them for years. As most weddings do, we were running late for our introductions. Derek met with us in the foyer of our venue to go over introductions and processions into the room.

During the wedding Derek came out to talk to us while we were getting our plates for dinner. Just to touch base to see if we were O.K. As the night moved on and we made our rounds through the tables we had many family members ask us who the DJ was, many thought he was a close friend of the family. He was on point when the dancing started and had everyone out on the dance floor. Overall we and our guests had an amazing experience.

Derek was a pleasure to work with and I would honesty recommend Horizon Entertainment to anyone. The calm demeanor and relaxed atmosphere made this part of wedding planning easy and fun. From start to finish they went above and beyond our expectations to ensure that we were not only taken care of but were flexible in doing so.

We had MIKE from Horizon Entertainment as our DJ and Emcee for our beach wedding. He was AMAZING! He took care of our every need down to bringing us some refreshments while we were taking pictures in the sun. He listened to every detail and made sure the music and entire event went exactly as we had pictured it! He even made special last minute accommodations for us and completely surpassed our expectations in every way. He made everyone feel extremely comfortable and made sure we did not have to worry about a thing. He was amazing at getting everyone pumped and excited to be on the dance floor as well! We would DEFINITELY both recommend and use Horizon Entertainment (Mike) in the future!!

Excellent and reliable! Our DJ was Deon for our wedding at the National Harbor who from beginning to end brought his A game. Deon was enthusiastic and knowledgeable in what we were looking for and what we wanted. Deon provided helpfullness from our playlist to his expertise in mixing. Deon also has dance lights which I highly recommend! If you are looking for a DJ who you can trust and provide great service I highly recommend Deon.

We truly enjoyed working with Derek from Horizon Entertainment. He was a pleasure to have at our wedding and his presence went beyond his DJ services. A number of friends and family asked us during and after the wedding if the DJ was a friend of ours. He is warm and friendly with everyone and made sure my husband and I as well as our guest were happy with the music. Additionally, Derek kept talking via mic to a minimum which a lot of guest found refreshing. He announced scheduled events at the wedding and nothing more. A big thanks goes out to Derek for keeping our party alive and fun. We would definitely recommend Derek with Horizon entertainment.

Michael Cowles from Horizon Entertainment DJ'd our wedding, and we could not have been happier with the services we received. Michael and Derek from Horizon ensured that we had the proper level of amplification the ceremony, and Michael rocked the wedding. He helped us develop a strong playlist, and guests danced the entire night. All in all, we would recommend Horizon and use them again.

Hiring Derek Entrekin of Horizon Entertainment was one of the best decisions my fiancé and I made! Derek is one of the most personable people you will ever meet. We met at a bridal expo and I knew after about five minutes that he was perfect for our wedding. We had an outdoor wedding in October and it rained the entire day. Derek kept me calm the week leading up and helped with our “plan b” options. Thirty minutes leading up into our ceremony, we thought the rain had stopped. Derek moved his equipment three times (first inside, then outside, then inside again) and did not complain once. The weather did not even affect our wedding one bit. The party went into after midnight and Derek played such a great mix of music to appeal to every generation. I would 100% recommend Derek Entrekin and Horizon Entertainment to any bride and groom or just anyone looking to have a great party. You will not be sorry!

Our DJ Dave was absolutely amazing. He was always quick to respond to any and all (and we had a lot) of our questions, He made great recommendations of how to spice up some of the traditional wedding events (Garter toss, etc) that our guest absolutely loved as well as music choices. He was patient and always professional with us on the day of the wedding and kept the wedding on track. I couldn't imagine our wedding going as well without Dave.

We had Derek Entrekin as our DJ and he was awesome. We asked that he play "fun acoustic stuff" during our cocktail hour and provided a few recommendations, which he played, and the other songs he chose were so perfect. He also played every song we asked him to play during the reception plus some other great choices. He went around to every table at the reception and asked for requests and then ran them by us before playing because we requested that he not play any explicit songs. He met with us twice via Skype before the wedding and was very thorough and made us feel completely at ease. He also went to our venue by himself (because I wasn't able to make it when he could) to check it out beforehand. We didn't have a wedding coordinator but I didn't feel like I needed one the day of the wedding because he was on top of it and communicated with us through the whole evening, but wasn't overbearing. He was also extremely flexible throughout our entire event. The only slightly negative piece of feedback I have (which isn't even bad) is that the music was kind of loud and we had to ask him a few times to turn it down. I would recommend Derek from Horizon to anyone!

Derek was simply a phenomenal DJ for our wedding. My wife first heard him at her sister's wedding and from that, she knew we had to have him play at ours as well. The numerous communications we had with Derek, both before and during the event, were excellent, and he even drove two hours down to our venue for an on-site walk-thru of where everything was going to be set up. Derek was very accommodating and flexible with all of our requests, and was able to set up and play music for both the cocktail hour as well as the reception party, though they were in different rooms of the venue. Our favorite thing was that Derek went around to all of the guest tables at the reception and took requests. It absolutely made the entire reception; people were dancing all night long! We had to have 3 or 4 "last song"s because no one wanted the party to end. I highly recommend Horizon Entertainment to bring a high amount of fun and energy to any event . Thanks so much!

Derek was the absolute best, and we could not be happier that we decided to work with him. We interviewed 5-6 DJs, as having the right person was important to us. We were not disappointed. He was just what we were looking for. Leading up to the wedding he was responsive, available, and our one-on-ones with him were structured, productive, professional, and very fun. He walked us through everything, providing recommendations and suggestions as we requested, and was completely flexibly when we had specific things we wanted. He even made some of the decisions easy for us ("Huh... we haven't thought of that yet... what do others do?"), and let me tell you, when you are planning a wedding, anything to help make things less stressful is totally brilliant. Our guests LOVED him. He was terrific with everyone. Welcoming and blending in perfectly. He took the time to walk around to each table to introduce himself and take requests. To the point that he even gave out his cell phone number to a group of our friends so they could text him requests! He played all the songs on our must play list, and brought out our personalities. He just knew our style and the evening was perfect. From the time dancing began to the final song, the dance floor was never empty. He read the crowd perfectly. His announcements were terrific. He practiced all the pronunciations, and his voice was professional, but fun, and helped set the tone. His equipment was fantastic. Slim and unobtrusive but really, really powerful. Not a dead space in the room. There isn't a single thing we wish would have been different. From our first meeting with him to the planning to the day of and the final song, he was simply the best. We would hire him again in a second. He was totally at our wedding, and everyone knew it, but he was also seamlessly in the background, as though he wasn't there. He let us and our guests really shine. Hiring him was one if the best decisions we made.

Derek was very professional and knowledgeable. He was willing to incorporate any of my ideas and went the extra mile to be sure he had the exact version of requested songs. Unlike many other wedding DJ's I have seen, he was an excellent emcee. He kept guests informed and excited throughout the night. He worked with the venue and photographer to keep the events of the night flowing. The weeks before the wedding he checked in with me to discuss everything and the extra effort showed! Horizon also had any song we wanted and a fun, easy to use website where we picked our music. They were all very responsive and helpful.

I learned about Derek Entrekin when my fiancee came back from a bridal expo. She was adamant upon meeting him that he would be the DJ for our wedding. I was surprised by her certainty, but she assured me that she just had a good feeling about him. This is the polar opposite of nearly every DJ we had met before; most others had this very sleazy and gimmicky demeanor, like they were trying to sell a used car, but Derek, she said, was completely genuine. We met him several months before the wedding, and upon sitting down and having lunch with him, I was completely convinced that we were making the right choice. The first thing you notice about Derek is the warmth he exudes, and how effortlessly he can make people feel at ease. I think part of this is that, as he explained, when you trust the right people and put the night in their hands, everything will go exactly as it was meant to. That's the kind of mindset I was looking for.

The afternoon of the wedding rehearsal, Derek set up his equipment for the soundcheck and provided wonderful background music for the rehearsal dinner. He knew our very particular tastes so well that there was one point at the rehearsal dinner when I heard him play a nice, jazzy tune (one I hadn't mentioned to him before), and we exchanged a knowing nod as I thought to myself, "this guy's got this." He kept me in the loop with the structure of the night (e.g. when speeches were being made, when to thank the guests and give the groomsmen their gifts), and made me look like I actually knew what I was doing.

I know my praise at this point must seem cloyingly effusive, but a DJ can make or break an event. Derek is incredibly gifted and clearly loves creating the atmosphere for an amazing and unforgettable night. He is one of those good people you just want to be around. He's become a friend of the family, and really came through for us. You can't do better than Derek Entrekin. He has my highest recommendation.

One word can describe the service...OUTSTANDING. Multiple members of our family and friends asked for the contact information for our DJ so they could hire him for future weddings and events. The DJ's flexibility, professionalism and willing to adjust to our needs are just a few of the DJ's great qualities. Horizon Entertainment was incredible. Derek was the DJ for my wedding. I've been to many weddings in the DC/NOVA area, and Derek is the most talented and professional in the area. He knew how to get everyone on the dance floor and keep them there for the entire reception. There was not one moment that people were not up and having fun. From the planning stages of selecting your music to the day of the wedding, he was extremely well-organized, thoughtful, professional, and made us feel like one thing we didn't have to worry about with our wedding was the entertainment.

He also MC'd the reception and did a flawless job of running the cocktail hour, introductions, etc. He was able to joke around with the guests and play music that keep everyone happy, and improvise when need be to keep people dancing. On top of that, he uses top notch equipment/speakers which reflects the quality of his work.

Derek is a top notch DJ that I recommend to all my friends. If you want an experienced DJ that you can rely on, go with Derek.

It was such a pleasure to have had Derek DJ our wedding. We had our original DJ cancel on us 50 days before the wedding which turned out to be a blessing in disguise. We loved all of our vendors but our DJ was our absolute favorite. We were initially heartbroken that we couldn’t afford the band we wanted…. But once we got over that, and looking back, our DJ (Michael Cowels) made not only the wedding day but the entire weekend special. He lives in Pensacola, FL and our wedding was in Amelia Island, FL, so he did have to travel but he was thrilled to do so for us. The pricing was more than a local Jacksonville area DJ however it was still very reasonable and worth every penny- you get what you pay for! In addition to our reception, Michael also did our ceremony sound (music and mics). Which went very smoothly especially considering our ceremony was on a different area of the resort and he had to bring extra equipment and move back/forth pretty quickly. On top of the ceremony and reception, Michael actually came in early and joined our rehearsal dinner and bonfire with his portable speakers which were an awesome touch. It gave him a chance to get to know our friends and family, and when it came down to the night of the reception he was on a first name basis with half of the people there so he could make shout outs by name and relate with everyone’s personalities and music tastes- which made the reception even more fun and a truly personal experience- not a cookie cutter DJ..this was truly a special touch that our friends and family will be talking about for years to come. He has a true passion for what he does and it clearly shows. If you want to make your wedding reception special, then go with Michael. He will exceed any expectations you have!

Derek and the whole Horizon Entertainment crew has been amazing! He kept the party going the whole night! My little cousin, who is 15, loves music so Derek was kind enough to let him listen to his headphones and play some music. The day after the wedding, I had so many compliments about the d.j. He was upbeat and funny! I made a mad lib game for the guest to fill-it-out and he made a contest out of it! Truly an amazing company. After our wedding a number of people said to us that they had never seen a dance floor packed with that many people for such a long time at a wedding before. We attributed that to a great song list and an experinced DJ! Our DJ also did a great job MC'ing the wedding and managing the timeline to keep us on track, so we could enjoy ourselves. Overall, we had a great experience with Horizon with no complaints from us or our guests.

My Husband and I had the pleasure of having Horizon Entertainment provide a DJ for our wedding! Our DJ for the event was Derek, he was hands down the best of the best! Horizon Entertainment, has their contracts break down into 3 parts. We met with Derek first, to see what Steven and my music interest were, and to break down songs into 3 parts (cocktail hour, dinner and dancing). We then had a few months to utilize the online music tool database, that provided Steven and I, all our favorite songs at our finger tips. We could play around and add the songs to our playlist at our own leisure. There is a schedule for the day of time sheet, and this was so helpful, it even suggested things that I had no idea about, and you can even print this out. :) Totally cool, and I provided this to my event coordinator. Final meeting was a run down from top to bottom, how the day would go. Derek went above and beyond what we would say a DJ should do! He made sure our guest were interacting and on the dance floor having a good time! He went around and greeted our guest, and would take music request, but still had Steven and I's interest at heart, and was able to judge if the music request would fit or not!. He is super personable, and has a lot of energy and great sense of humor! I would recommend Horizon Entertainment to any new Bride, and any and all events, that want to be guaranteed an amazing time, and lots of fun! I am confident to say that without Derek as our DJ, I simply don't think my Wedding Day would have been half amazing as it was!!! Having a hard time, stressing to much about finding a DJ????, well..... Look no further Horizon Entertainment is what your event needs!!! :)

My husband and I could not be happier with our decision to have Derek be a part of our wedding. He was always so helpful and responsive from the moment we started planning with him all the way through our wedding. Derek took our song requests and mixed it with his expertise to keep the dance floor full all night!

His website is amazing! My husband and I were having trouble picking some of the songs and were able go into the website and see the 100 most frequently requested for every single type of song imaginable (first dance, daddy daughter dance, garter/bouquet toss...). He also has awesome reception timeline planning tools. He really helps make everything easy for you!

One last thing... My aunt shared with me that she was leaning in/talking a little louder than usual across the table during the reception and that Derek dropped by their table after seeing this to check and make sure the music was not too loud. Derek is really attentive and wants to make sure you and ALL of your guests have a truly amazing day :-)

Planning a wedding is probably the most difficult event to put together. The stress is outrageous, money is definitely an issue and bottom line is all of this planning isn't really all for you. The wedding itself is for your guests to enjoy and hopefully during the event you can find time for yourselves to reflect on what just went down.
We knew from the very beginning that we wanted to find a DJ that wasn't traditional, which meant they couldn't even own "The Chicken Dance ". We known DJ Derek for many years and we knew that the type
of music we wanted, he had. But there was still a question of would he be available for our big day? When he said he would love to be apart of our wedding, we were so excited!!!!
Our dance floor never had an empty moment. No party stopping songs, thank god. Every one of our guests were up at some point throughout the night shaking it. The vibe was terrific and everything that we had talked about during our planning sessions was carried out flawlessly. This is no joke, when people ask me what was the favorite moment of our wedding reception I answer the DJ. I might say the food except I never had a chance to eat. No matter what the event my first choice for entertainment was, is and always will be DEREK with Horizon Entertainment.

We had Derek Entrekin DJ our wedding in NYC. (We had him come up special b/c we could not find a New York City DJ that we liked). He came highly recommended and I have to say that all the good reviews were an understatement! He was not only very helpful but really cared about our big day! He gave great guidance about fun songs to be played at different times and when my brother wanted, last minute to dance with me for the Father/Daughter dance (which was not planned and no song was picked) the DJ came to the rescue with a perfect song that was perfect for the relationship. It's been about 6 months since the wedding and people still comment on how fun the reception was and how fun the DJ made it!!!

Michael did a fantastic job at our wedding. I'd never seen so many people dancing for such a long time! He had a great selection of music and was a lot of fun. He was never overbearing and knew just how to tailor the music to the mood.

Michael was wonderful from beginning to end. His enthusiasm for our big day was so genuine and he really wanted to make us happy.He knows his stuff and his professionalism showed throughout the entire planning process. He kept our brunch reception going and lively and made all the announcements that we had wanted him to do. He was very timely and was on point with everything that he had promised. My wife and I originally planned to set up an iPod to run our music and to have a friend handle the flow of our wedding in an effort to save money. Looking back, I think that would have been one of the worst possible decisions we could have made. Mike brought our wedding to an amazingly fun and stress-free level for us and our guests. He has a great website where you can input your planned schedule and song selections (picking directly from what he owns and adding things he will get for you specifically) prior to the event. Additionally, during the planning process he met with us on multiple occasions to answer questions, get to know us and our personalities, brainstorm reception ideas, go over reception timelines and flow of activities, etc. This also allowed him to really get a feel for us as a couple, which showed on the day of the reception during his announcement and as he played the songs we requested and filled in with songs that fit the vibe of our other selections perfectly. Mike was also really good at reading queues and knowing how to keep the party going and making announcements on our behalf, almost like he was reading our minds. It was clear he put a lot of thought into the event, and is a true professional that loves his job. All of these things combined to make the whole reception run smoother than we ever could have hoped for. Thank you so much Mike!!

Horizon Entertainment provided our DJ services for our wedding night. Mike was our DJ and he was so great...he helped throughout the entire process of picking songs when we needed help choosing but also respecting songs we had already chosen. They have an online system that is really easily accessible and allows you to choose songs that you do or do not played at the event. Mike showed up super early on the day to get set up which was very much appreciated. He worked very professionally with all the other vendors. Our wedding guests danced all night and Mike was flexible with a few last minute changes to the schedule in order to keep the dancing going. He even downloaded a song from iTunes that we requested at the wedding that he didn't already have on his computer. We had a great experience with Horizon and would definitely recommend them to anyone.

Horizon Entertainment was the best DJ service I have ever seen at an event. David Taylor was easily accessible through texts, email, and phone calls and he created the perfect playlist for our wedding. Our dance floor was packed the whole night. The music chosen was good for all ages yet still fun and energetic. We had dance off's and everything. David Taylor was so professional with everything he did. He was so unobtrusive during the night and allowed for my husband and I to be the stars. He understood our style and went with it and created a great atmosphere to enjoy dances and laughs with our family and friends. We will be recommending David Taylor and Horizon Entertainment to our friends getting married in the next year.

Mike is awesome!!! He's so friendly and was able to help us choose some songs for our parent's dance and anniversary dance. The quality of the sound was also great. Ask for the wireless speakers around the reception so that everyone hears the music and announcements during the reception. Horizons has a website so you can make sure that the music suites your tastes and that songs that you don't like will not be played. It really helps you control the sound and feel of your reception. Mike also helped us out by setting up early during our ceremony so my Uncle could use his amp during the song he performed during the ceremony. Overall, I just knew that I could trust him to make are reception memorable, and he did.

We worked with Michael Cowles and could not have been happier. We were limited at our venue to a list of "approved" DJs and Horizon was on the list. Their prices were reasonable and Michael gave us free ceremony music since we booked him way in advance. He was the perfect DJ - he let the wedding be about us and our guests and didn't spend time talking over people. He played the music we listed (and listed NOT to play) and he was very good about keeping everyone on schedule. I would highly recommend Horizon Entertainment!

We had Aaron Hahn as our DJ and LOVED him!! He was funny, laid-back, professional, and not only DJ'd our wedding but also coordinated the timing of everything, and even "fluffed" my dress as I walked around the building and down the aisle at Meadowlark! We were a little behind schedule b/c pictures took longer, but Aaron played exactly the right kinds of songs to keep everyone dancing until the end. I highly recommend him! Horizon uses great Bose speakers that are not loud and obnoxious as well!

Not much to say other than AMAZING. We worked with Michael and he was absolutely fabulous. First of all, he is a character. He is very likable, friendly, a lot of fun, and also really professional. We met with him (he came to my husband's apartment in Centreville) for the first time several months before the wedding to see if we wanted to work with Horizon entertainment. He totally sold us on the company and gave us an incredible deal in terms of pricing.

In terms of the prep work, Horizon makes it incredibly easy by posting everything online. Guests can request songs online, the wedding day timeline can be done online, and all of the rest of the wedding information can provided online.

We met with Michael once more (again at J's apartment in Centreville) the week before the wedding to go through everything once again, and go over the final touches. Once again when he left we felt really excited and reassured.

On the day of the wedding, things didn't go flawlessly with the catering company, but Michael was actually going around trying to smooth things out, and then made a point to talk to my parents and I to make sure that we were feeling okay with everything. The music was awesome, easy to hear, and not too loud. He played a fantastic mix of oldies, and new stuff, and everything was really easy to dance to (that was my main goal). The dance floor was packed the whole night, and everyone had a blast. I received many comments on how great the music was, and how much fun everyone had, which was in LARGE part due to Michael and Horizon entertainment.

All in all, I would absolutely recommend this company, and try to work with Michael if you can! He is really fabulous.

David Taylor recently DJ'd our wedding in mid-May in northern Virginia. Horizon was easy to work with. From our first meeting, David was a consummate professional. Horizon's website was easy to use in helping us select our song list and timeline of our wedding reception. David met with us twice more before our wedding - the last time 2 weeks before our wedding to finalize all the details.

On the day of the wedding, he arrived in plenty of time to set up the speakers and do sound checks. He was not intrusive at all, and the music was just right during dinner and then afterwards when the real dancing began. Everyone had a great time!

Kudos to David, thanks for making our wedding so fun and for being so easy to work with. I highly recommend his services!!

We worked David Taylor at Horizon, and couldn't be happier.

Horizon's web-based tool for requesting music for your day was very helpful. We were able to specifically list songs we wanted to be played no matter what, wanted to be played only if there was time to fit them in, and even which songs not to play at all. Our guests were even able to log in to the web site and make music requests before the event, giving us the ability to approve or deny their requests. This allows the DJ to not be pestered with requests during the event, which is nice.

David was extremely professional and flexible in dealing with us and working out our desires for the playlist. David specifically coordinated every event (cake cutting, first dances, etc) both with us and with the photographer to make sure everybody was ready every step of the way.

MIKE WAS AMAZING!!! He was our DJ and he ROCKED! He has an awesome sense of humor and is very professional at the same time! He made our guests laugh and joke and even got the dancing started way before we ever expected anyone to dance. We couldn’t have picked a better DJ to work with. I would recommend him 1000 times over!
His equipment he used at our wedding was top of the line and feedback free! All he uses is a little corner at the venue he comes with his own table and TWO computers full of music just incase something should happen to the other computer! He did such an amazing job!

We owe Aaron Hahn our firstborn - okay, maybe not our child, but we were really happy with his services. If vendors could review their clients, I think it would only be fair for Aaron to give us 1 star for "responsiveness". We forgot about a meeting we scheduled with him on a Sunday night at our apartment and we went to a movie. After he finally got a hold of us, we felt terrible, but Aaron assured us that it was no problem and rescheduled. Then, we had our rehearsal dinner before the rehearsal and it ran late. So Aaron sat for almost an hour waiting for us to arrive. When we got there, he wasn't annoyed (or at least he didn't show it) at all.

It was so clear from the moment we met him that he knew what he was doing. He's not one of those cheesy DJs that talks in a weird voice or tries to force your guests to dance. The only complaint that I heard from some of my guests afterwards was that there was only one slow song played at the end of the night. To be honest, it didn't bother me at all, since the music he was playing had a lot of people dancing. I think he saw that the dance floor was packed and wanted to keep it going, no complaint from me!

He really knows how to work the crowd and is great in helping you plan out your day. He kept everything rolling throughout the reception. We cannot say enough positive things about Mike of Horizon Entertainment. We went into the wedding process with the DJ being a high priority because we wanted to create a fun atmosphere for our guests. My husband and I literally danced the night away thanks to the perfect mix Mike put together.

Working with Mike was a complete pleasure. He was professional, listened to our thoughts, and took our vision for the evening to heart. Michael Cowles, the owner of Horizon Entertainment, was the DJ at my daughter's wedding at the Briar Patch B&B and he did a wonderful job. My daughter lives in Washington DC and both she and her fiancee work full-time and initially chose Horizon Entertainment because they were the only DJ company that would come to DC for their 2 face-to-face appointments and meet them at their apartment after work. But after meeting Michael in their first appointment, they liked what they heard and found him very easy to work with.....choosing their songs for the wedding ceremony, for the wedding reception, and the DJ announcements needed. Their online website made it very easy for my daughter and her fiancee to fill out all the needed information. At the wedding, Michael got all the young people hopping and dancing and having a great time. But, in addition, during the cocktail hour when I asked him to tun down the music near the dining tables and on the outside patio so people could talk easier, he was very accommodating and adjusted the volume right away. I would highly recommend Horizon Entertainment, and Michael Cowles, for your DJ needs.

We worked with Michael - who we loved! We were a little worried about the event since there was another wedding at the same venue and we weren't sure how he was going to handle noise from their DJ, but Michael was great - we didn't even hear the other wedding at all. He was super attentive and flexible with requests and/or changes with the schedule. We really appreciated his professionalism and pleasant demeanor.

During the planning/consultations, Michael was very upbeat and at ease. Scheduling appointments was easy and we always got quick responses from the company whenever we had any questions or concerns.

Our guests loved our DJ and said that he was one of the best wedding DJ's they've ever heard!! We had a great time and believed that every penny to Michael and Horizon Entertainment was worth it. :)

Horizon was wonderful. Everyone loved the music and kept commenting on what a great time they were having dancing. In fact, at one point I thought the dance floor might have been too small for my wedding because SO many of our guests were dancing; which just goes to show you how good of a time they were having!

We found horizon at a bridal expo at George Mason University. We were impressed with their equipment, in that their stereos are place up high so people can still talk/hear themselves and others, yet still enjoy the background ambiance of great music.

Mike was our DJ the day of the wedding. He met with us a few weeks out and discussed all the "major" things (i.e. do you or dont you want the macarena or songs like that, do you or dont you want "Baby got Back" or would that not go in your type of crowd).

A week before the wedding we met again to discuss the timeline of how things would go the day of the wedding. He was very helpful in suggesting when to dance/when to toast.

I was hesitant in getting a DJ because I didnt want some crazy guy up there trying to crack jokes or be funny or something. Mike was vocal when he needed to be at the reception, but otherwise you didnt hear him. He was just there to play music. Definitely THE BEST we could have asked for!

We were extremely happy with our DJ, Aaron Hahn, from Horizon. Aaron was professional, responsive and very helpful with suggestions on the reception timeline/order of events. The online tools that Horizon provides - song selection, scheduling, etc. proved to be quite helpful as we finalized our big day. Aaron took the time to come to our house and meet with us multiple times to get to know us, our style, and help us plan for the big day. We had the privilage of working with Jae Jones. Jae did an excellent job as our DJ and MC. We selected Horizon Entertainment because we were impressed with their music selection. We like a wide variety of music, including some lesser known bands. Jae assured us that any songs that were not found in their database could easily be added to our playlist. We also liked that they used a high quality sound system and did not have a huge amount of equipment.

Once we knew Jae was going to be our DJ and MC, he scheduled three meetings with us to go over their online planning tool, which allowed us to make 3 types of playlists: must play, play if you can, and do not play. We were also able to specify songs to play during the cocktail hour and dinner. As most know, the planning process can be very time consuming. Jae kept up with us by email and phone to schedule our meetings. He was always available whenever we had any questions and helped us set up our timeline.

During the reception, Jae kept things moving according to the timeline. Without his assistance, we probably would not have been able to fit everything in! We had so many complements about the music and EVERYONE was out dancing - even the grandparents!

We wanted our wedding reception to be a party and wanted everyone out dancing. Thanks to Jae and our other vendors, the reception was everything we wanted it to be!

I would just like to say how extremely happy we were with Michael. He was great with meeting around our schedules and making us feel comfortable. We met him at the GMU bridal show. All the information I gained in our first meeting made me positive that I had to have him. Not only was his equiptment impressive but so was he. twenty minutes before I was set to get married I made a big change. I decided to move my ceremony outside. He was great with relocating his things to accomidate my wishes. I would 120% reccommed him for anyone who is looking to have the BEST at their wedding. I have told many about him but wanted everone else to know how wonderful he was. I have him to thank for making my day wonderful. My guests were so impressed that many asked for his information at my reception. Mike also did a wonderful job including songs that were traditional to my husbands Slovakian culture. My guests loved that they were able to request songs. With his amaizing equiptment he was able to show my guests lists of songs by artists that they wanted to hear. Everyone was enjoying themselves so much that we asked if we could extend the contract time for just a few more songs. He was more than willing to help us keep the party going. We were so fortunate to work with Dave Jefferies in the planning and operation of our wedding! I met Dave at a bridal show in Fairfax, VA and we hit it off right away! Dave's energy and charisma was something I knew we just had to have represented at our wedding! We met multiple times for planning purposes (Dave soon came to realize that the teacher/planner in me had to have everything planned out down to the last detail!) But he was so accomodating and willing to work with me at any time to answer any questions that I had. Dave came all the way out to Ocean City, MD for our wedding and we all had a blast!! We ended up getting married during Hurricane Matthew and had to have an indoor ceremony. Dave was so flexible with the turnaround of the day and helping to organize the setup of events! Everything turned out better than I expected with the ceremony space and music feeling so intimate. He helped to step in and take charge of events (as well as keeping us on track!) Shortly afterwards, we had a big ol party with our favorite music and special dance requests (poor Dave.... I had so many special requests for music and he was so great at going with the flow!) Dave kept the party going all night and we couldn't have asked for a better DJ!! Thank you Dave for helping to make our day so special and giving us the fun memories that we will treasure for a lifetime! :D

Michael was an amazing DJ for my daughter's wedding. Everyone said this was the most fun wedding they have attended. Everyone was dancing - from the 5 year old flower girls to my 80 year old mother, whom I've never seen dance before - and she was on the dance floor twice - once with each grandson. Michael provided the music for both the outdoor wedding ceremony and the reception at Old Hickory Golf Club. Everything went very smoothly.
We had expressed concerns before the wedding about music being too loud - especially during dinner. Michael was very mindful of keeping the music lively but allowing people to talk at their table. The speakers were high enough that they did not blast music at table level. However, they provided great music in the background and on the dance floor. Michael did a great job as an MC, but kept the scripting to a minimum so it did not interrupt the flow. It was perfect. Everyone commented on what a great wedding it was and how much fun they had. The DJ was a big part of the night.
Micheal met with the bride prior to the wedding (not an easy task since they were out of state until two days before the wedding) to get a good feeling of what she was looking for. Michael also spoke to the bride and her fiancé over the phone during the planning process. They picked out music they liked through the well designed web site which allowed them to hear previews.
While the price was a little higher than some of the competition, we received very professional service and a very good value. I can't say enough good things about Michael and the DJ services. We've been to some weddings where the DJ takes over. Michael was amazing to work with and provided whatever level of involvement we wanted. During the evening he checked in several times to make sure we were happy. He really tried hard to please and he exceeded our expectations. We highly recommend Michael at Horizon - Things went very smoothly and we were truly delighted!

A Big Thank you to Michael Cowles and Horizon Entertainment. He was essentially our ceremony and reception coordinator along with being our DJ, we gave him a list of what we wanted including people, timing, and specific events/locations, and he made sure everything came together and added his own special touches that made the event so special and memorable for us and our guests. Except for a minor contact info issue where he changed Internet Service Providers/E-mail addresses and forgot to tell us, our wedding and reception could not have turned out better.

We first met with Michael for the consultation. It was great that he came to us (very helpful for a busy couple planning a wedding!) and we felt very comfortable signing up with Horizon that evening. A couple months before the wedding we were told that Aaron would be our DJ and we were able to schedule to meet him before the wedding. Aaron was great - he had great taste in music, helped the day go smooth, and made announcements in a professional, but not stiff manner.

Overall we were very very happy with Horizon Entertainment and our DJ Aaron Hahn. The packages were a little expensive but we went with it for the service and smaller/higher end equipment. I really enjoyed Horizon's online planning tools and Aaron's advice on playlists and reception timing. He really made the party a great time for all, kept the flow of the reception and even snuck in an extra song or two at the end. We really can't say enough good things about Horizon and Aaron.

Our DJ was Aaron and he rocked! He was so fun and played what we wanted him to and he didn't put on a cheesy act like many of the DJs you see out there. At the end of the reception many of our guests were stranded without rides (cabs didn't show up) so Aaron piled them in his van and drove them to their hotels!
