Awesome!!!!!

Edwin is absolutely amazing! His basic package comes with up lighting and truly elevated our wedding! I love the mixing he had on our playlist! Please do yourself a favor and book him!

DJ/Emcee with lighting services

He did an amazing job on our big day. The dance floor, music, and lighting were great. He was very attentive when it came to how we wanted to order things as far as announcements and music list. He has a website where you can organize most dances you want along with songs and music. He is very busy during the week but will respond over the weekend.

Fantastic and highly recommended

Extremely happy with Edwin and his dj-ing at our wedding. Him and his wife Jocelyn who did a photobooth for us (SnapnClicks photography) were the highlight of the party. Highly recommend hiring them both. Not only great value, but I would say quality of service was worth more than the price. All the equipment was also on point. 5 Stars all around!

Great DJ, Great Price

I did a ton of research to find the best value DJ in Honolulu. I was so thrilled with Hoku Entertainment, and specifically Edwin's DJ and MC services for my wedding. His online booking, planning, and payment portal made planning my destination wedding so easy. He took special care to make sure to play the right (remixed) version of one of our songs. He was also very responsive throughout the entire planning process.
I also appreciate that he took requests and made our wedding such a fun and lively environment.
For such amazing service, lighting, MCing, and music, I cannot get over the value for money.
I definitely recommend Hoku Entertainment to anyone getting married in Honolulu!

Edwin is excellent overall! He is quick to respond, clarify, and answer any questions leading up to the event. On the wedding night, Edwin was on top of it and easily adapted to any changes to the wedding timeline. Coming from a wedding coordinator, I couldn't ask for a better DJ/Emcee to work with. The best part: my client loved him!

Edwin was amazing at our wedding! He was so flexible and worked around our schedule. He had a great playlist and noted all of our requests. Edwin played great music for the kids to dance to and then great music for all the adults. Everyone had a great time and couldn’t stop talking about how fun dancing was. The lights he brought for our tent were beautiful! I was so surprised when I walked in. His prices are the best around and I’m so happy we went with him. Highly recommended!

We hired Edwin for his karaoke services at our post-wedding reception after party. Booking was easy, he was very responsive to emails/questions, and payment was simple. Our guests found him to be personable and competent, and he was very good at prioritizing bride/groom requests. We had a number of other things to deal with that day, but we didn't have to pay any extra attention to Edwin, which is probably one of the highest compliments you can pay a wedding vendor, and extra impressive considering we had not met him before that day. (We didn't need to/ask to, since he wasn't emcee-ing the wedding or doing anything that required coordination.)

For the karaoke itself, we really weren't sure what to expect, since there aren't many reviews of karaoke vendors on Oahu at all. Edwin brought a full set up with speakers, a monitor, and wireless mics. The song choice was really extensive (except no Hawaiian or local songs, boo). Everyone had a really great time, and we would definitely recommend him to anyone looking for a mobile karaoke vendor.

I hired Hoku Entertainment for my wedding in October 2016. They were great. We hired them for DJ/MC servies and they also did our up lighting. Edwin and his wife were really nice and easy to work with. They have an online database where you can put the list of songs you want, which I thought was very convenient. He tried hard to play all the music we requested and set up the sound system for ceremony. I thought everything went smoothly and we had so much fun! The lighting and our logo was beautiful; it made everything look really grand. ?? Personally I thought they were l affordable compared to other companies.

We're glad we found Edwin at Hoku Entertainment through Weddingwire. Edwin was very responsive & attentive with what we wanted and needed. One of the most affordable I found & he did a great job being our DJ & emcee. He delivered what we had expected. Also kudos to his wife, Jocelyn, for providing our photo booth. They're both very professional & very easy to work with. Thank you very much Hoku Entertainment!

Hoku entertainment was great. We used their Dj and emcee services for our wedding. Their services fit our budget. Edwin was professional and prompt. We wanted more of a laid back reception and hoku entertainment definitely delivered.

Edwin was very accommodating and responsive to our emails and requests. Since we live in California, all of our arrangements had to be done through emails and phone calls. On the wedding day, the set up that he had for us was amazing. The lights and fog that was set up surpassed our expectations. He had a great music selection and accommodated to my choice of Cambodian music. He's also a great MC and knew how to get the crowd going when he noticed that the crowd needed a little pick me up after a dinner. He's also flexible and allowed me and my guests to change up the music selection and make song requests during the dance portion of the wedding. I would highly recommend Edwin.

Bride speaking... Ed was amazing! He had everything set up in time, and played all songs that I requested perfectly. I gave a pretty vague idea of what I wanted for each part of the ceremony and reception, but he handled it effortlessly. I would HIGHLY recommend Hoku for your next event or wedding!

Edwin, our DJ, was amazing! From the moment we requested a quote until the end of the wedding, Edwin was always helpful and courteous. Our MC, Cliff, was excellent and exactly what we wanted and needed for the night.

The price was unbeatable, and they were flexible enough to provide us uplighting at a great price (compared to the rental companies).

We weren't sure what to expect as there weren't that many reviews out there for Hoku Entertainment, but we are so glad we went with them.

Despite the short amount of time to plan for this event, Edwin was wonderful to work with and was very professional. I gave him very little time (one day) work on my slide show, but I was very happy with the result. As a professional event planner, I would recommend Edwin to others and hire him again for future events.

Edwin exceeded all of our expectations. His timing was impeccable. He played exactly what was requested of him and he dazzled us with his laser lights and disco ball. He could not have been more cordial, responsive and downright kind. He is highly recommended!

Edwin was far more interactive throughout the planning process than I expected which put my mind at ease. His website provides an event planning function that allows you to have full control of the reception by creating and editing a timeline, making a specific playlist for the event, and about two weeks prior I submitted my final timeline and music sheet. The day of the wedding Edwin introduced himself and went over all the major reception events so that there would be no surprise and to ensure we were all on the same page. The wedding reception went better than I could've ever imagined it, he even put together a customized intro of each member of our bridal and groom party, that was a very nice personal touch that none of them expected. I am rating Edwin Sproat with a 5/5 because he truly put my mind at ease, was very responsive in his emails and phone calls, and delivered exceptional DJ/MC services on the wedding day. We truly had a blast!

First off, there are not many mobile karaoke vendors offered in Hawaii. However, after using Hoku Entertainment, there is no doubt that I made the right decision.

Edwin was awesome to work with and helped roll out an unbelievable mobile Karaoke room at the Honolulu Museum of Art's monthly event, "Art After Dark" to include the entire Karaoke setup, and lights to help enhance the experience. I would definitely recommend him for any corporate gig, and I'm looking to book him for future personal parties that I'm involved with.

Hoku Entertainment did an absolutely fantastic job at my wedding and reception!! Their level of service was unmatched. Very professional and courteous. So helpful and patient with the planning. They provided outdoor sound for my ceremony and indoor sound, uplighting, fog, LED projected emblem, and emcee/dj for my reception. They hyped the crowd when needed and were very entertaining and personable. My Valentine's Day wedding was perfect. Much mahalos to the Sproat brothers!!!! I have a grad party I need to throw coming up in a few months and will be giving these folks a call. Most definitely!!

Edwin and his team were amazing for us at Loulu Palm! My music tastes are considered eclectic and weird by many. He did a great job of playing the right music at the right times. He played any and all requests right away. He adhered to the list of songs I wanted played like a champion! He was super kind and attentive and never gave anything but a smile. Excellent DJ and I recommend him anytime and anywhere. His equipment was super modern. The speakers sounded outstanding and it was never too loud or distorted. He was extremely professional as well.
Thank you for making my wedding so fun with a great mix of awesome music....

Excellent service. Very professional, friendly, easy to work with and dependable. I am thankful he was able to squeeze me in a week before my wedding and everything worked out better then I planned. His personalized website he has let's you pick songs you want for every part of your wedding from hanging out background to the disco. And if he didn't have it like hawaiian songs he could download it if not on his list and took request on site. Everyone of all ages loved his services. Both young and old was able to enjoy the dance floor. So if your not sure on what you want he will be able to help you. I will be using his services again.

Edwin is both friendly and professional and our DJ and karaoke package was the perfect choice for our outdoor wedding reception. Using Hoku Entertainment's online song list request was so easy and for songs not in the database, Edwin was able to receive and download them by our email communication. Let me list the rest of the great points:
1. Always easy to get hold of by phone and email
2. Flexible to accommodate our shifting timeline--he was willing to stay later if needed
3. Super punctual and totally prepared
4. Very careful not to play any "do not play" songs
5. Awesome karaoke setup. The guests loved singing on the beach next to our bonfire! (Just wish there's bigger karaoke selection. Please expand!)
6. Super super nice can't say that enough!
7. Dance Lights were awesome!

Edwin is always response to the e-mail in timely manner and that makes me feel so comfortable since we had the destination wedding and not able to see him until the wedding day.
Whenever we have the question or additional request, he provides the appropriate advice and very reasonable offer for the options as well as his DJ package. Of course, he did a great job during the event.
I'd like to refer him to everyone, I would definitely ask him again if I have an occasion to have DJ!

Very friendly, very professional and very affordable.. I don't know how I'm going to thank them? If there is a word more than a THANKS A TONS then I would be using it!!! I made a lot of changes (most of it are last minute) and we didn't have any problems... Dance floor was never empty, Edwin can read the guests... Edwin was a pleasure to work with. He was available for a meeting before the wedding, has a great/easy to use website for song choices and event planing, and was clearly engaged and had a great attitude throughout the planing and wedding. However, some of the songs (including important ones like the father daughter dance) were cover tunes (not original artists), which was a little embarrassing. Also, there were some moments throughout the night where the music dropped or ads were played.

Edwin was very friendly and accommodating to our requests. Communication during the booking process was great and the package with lighting was very affordable.
However we were a little disappointed on the day with our reception. Hoku Entertainment provides a great system for song requests (up to 200+) however on the night only a few of these songs were played. We had spent a lot of time selecting these songs and were looking forward to hearing these songs but most were not played. There were gaps between songs as if they were playing straight off of an ipod with no syncing of beats or music, which broke the flow of the reception and left some awkward silences. There were also some technical difficulties which left some moments of silence during the dancing portion which was not ideal for the people on the dance floor.
Uplighting was great and added to the decor of the room; Edwin as MC was pretty good - we only wish the music had been more of what we requested from our list and the songs had flowed smoother.

Very disappointed

After reading reviews online, I thought that Hoku would be a good choice for DJ and MC services. Wrong. A couple good things to note was that in the planning process, they provided an online portal to plan the entire day, from scheduling, requests - you name it. It was a super user friendly feature that would have been great if it would have been used. I spent hours making a playlist of songs that I thought would be appropriate and fun for the type of wedding we were having (it was small and intimate, but in a resort that was surrounded with children). He remixed most of my request songs during the cocktail hour and dinner service and then didn't play what I wanted the rest of the reception. He played snippets of the songs I chose (including slow ones that were sentimental) and then went with his own playlist. On top of this, he didn't even play the correct version of my wedding song - it was a version with another artist that neither my husband and I like at all. He seemed disheveled during the reception, creating awkward pauses between dances and doing things I did not request (playing trivia during dinner and asking wedding advice) which made my guests uncomfortable. I felt like I was stuck in a bad place because I couldn't say anything while it was happening, but the reception was a mess. Thankfully my guests still danced and had fun, but as a couple, I missed out on a lot of important moments. Not a single slow song I requested was played until the VERY last song - which I had to physically request myself. I was very unhappy with this service and wish I could have my money refunded - certain things like your first dance should be memories you enjoy, not cringe at.
