Wonderful Wedding
Thank you to Travelers Rest, Mary Jo and staff for a wonderful wedding and experience. It made for a great wedding. We appreciate the help and guidance from Mary Jo and her team. It was a great feeling seeing all the planning and preparation come together.
It was a great venue and pictures and venue was so perfect. Although we dealt with rain, it didn’t seem to matter and we had a great experience. We’re still reeling from the overwhelmingly positive experience and making it such a wonderfully memorable experience. It was amazing. Thank you so much! Couldn’t have had a better experience. Thanks again. -

Historic Venue + Professional Team
Mary Jo and her team were absolutely incredible to work with. I've worked as a planner in Nashville's event industry for 6+ years and as you might imagine, felt over-protective about my best friend's wedding. My friend and her husband were married on September 28, 2019 and the day could not have been more perfect. Mary Jo and the entire Traveller's Rest staff were responsive, professional and went above and beyond to ensure their wedding day was exactly what they hoped for. As a planner, it's not easy trusting your best friend's wedding to someone else, but I would trust Mary Jo and Traveller's Rest one million times over. Simply the best! -

Beautiful Venue - with an amazing team!
Travellers Rest is one of the most beautiful garden estate properties in Nashville and at an amazing value. The property has tons of gorgeous Magnolia trees, flowers, and tons of greenery. Plus it has tons of options as to how you can celebrate your big day! However, the best part of the venue really is the team. Mary Jo and her team out did themselves to help us with our wedding. Mary Jo really knows her stuff and ensured we had the best day ever. I cannot say thank you to enough to the Travellers Rest Team! -

I couldn't have picked a better venue for my fall Nashville-themed wedding. This is a great location tucked in a south Nashville neighborhood. The historic home made for beautiful photos, especially in October with the changing leaves. I can't say enough about June, the event manager there. She who walked me through the premises and helped with the arrangements from that end, and could not have been more responsive and helpful. She was always available for questions. We had the wedding on location, with the lovely double-porches behind us. There is a reception 'barn' on the premises, which is where we had the reception. There was plenty of free parking for guests. Our band set up on the porch during happy hour, and we hired one of the docents to give guests who were interested a tour of the historic home while the wedding party took photos. The reception location had plenty of room for a DJ, buffet line and sit-down and stand-up tables for guests. We had a tent outside of the reception area, and the reception spilled outside to offer even more space for guests. The grounds were so pretty, and a lot of the trees are up-lit, so even as the sun went down, there were lots of opportunities for terrific photos. If I were to get married again tomorrow (to the same guy, of course!), we would do it again at Travellers Rest. It's a great historic part of Nashville, and guests both from Nashville and out of state commented at what a perfect venue it was. -

We chose the Travellers Rest Plantation for our wedding ceremony and reception venue. It was absolutely gorgeous! There were so many options on the grounds of where you could have the ceremony. The barn was perfect for the reception. Cryssa, Rosemary and all the staff were amazing. You couldn't beat the price for what you get! Thanks for making our special day so PERFECT! -

This venue provided a beautiful, historic setting that I would recommend to anyone looking for that Southern feel. The staff is flexible, let us bring in the vendors of our choosing, and have the ceremony just about anywhere we wanted. They responded to my wife's questions in a timely manner, and allowed her to come out to several other event set ups to get ideas and see what other people were doing. Very flexible and easy to work with. -

From the my very first inquiry about the venue, Frances was super responsive and accommodating. Our wedding had about 135 guests. We were able to have the ceremony under the trees in front of the park (despite the rain), the cocktail hour on the side porch, and the reception in the barn (everyone fit inside, and we put the buffet outside under a tent).
The venue itself is beautiful, especially on a warm summer day when all the foliage is in bloom. It ends up being a very cozy environment. As far as I know, everything went down smoothly day-of, and I extra appreciated how flexible everyone was when some sudden rain showers delayed the ceremony start. We had planned a house tour for guests during the cocktail hour, and the TR team suggested providing it to guests as they waited for the weather to clear up. Such a good idea and I'm sure much appreciated by guests! Thanks to the TR team for a lovely day. -

Great venue! I loved the people that worked there and loved the setting. My wedding was about 250 people so we had a huge tent outside the barn. We had dinner inside by one of their vendors and had a great band provided by Prime Source. I just loved having my cermony and reception in the same location, and loved working with the event coordinator, Frances there. Recommending Travellers Rest to all my friends who are getting engaged! -

Travellers Rest is a wonderful place to hold a wedding ceremony and reception! My wedding was in July and the weather and setting was amazing. Loved having the cermony outside, then a cocktail hour on the porch and in the english garden, then had dinner and dancing inside the barn! We had about 120 guests, which was perfect because we could all fit in the barn. The wedding coordinator there was awesome as well and very helpful with our many question! Love! -

The place was wonderful! We did not have any problems and people loved the tour of the house that we gave as a gift! The tour guide was very animated and passionate and friendly. They also loved the setting. We did have a plane fly over the ceremony which was not too bad. It is located near the interstate and train tracks but did not encounter any noise problems there. It was summer so the trees baffled it. The ceremony was outside and the reception was inside. Everything worked really well! -

The venue was wonderful for a wedding! We had our ceremony outside in front of the white fence, and had our reception inside the crib barn. The reception was great because we could bring in all of our own vendors and make it how we wanted it to look! Also was a great space for a fun band and plenty of dance room! The staff was very friendly to work with and were very easy to get ahold of. Would defiantly recommend to anyone who asked! -

I had a wonderful experience working with Travellers Rest, who hosted both the wedding ceremony and reception. June, the events coordinator, was very helpful and worked to accommodate our needs and wishes. Not to mention, the grounds are absolutely gorgeous. I highly recommend this venue for a Nashville wedding - maybe the most affordable venue I saw on the market! -

Traveller's Rest made our wedding day quite amazing! This venue is absolutely gorgeous and everyone on site was so nice to us every time we stopped by in preparation for the big day. They have several options for the wedding ceremony and the reception barn is such a great space for dinner and dancing. Our wedding was quite DIY which Traveller's makes easy since it provides a naturally beautiful background. We worked with both Chryssa and June for our event planning and both were very responsive and so nice to work with for our special day. Thank you Traveller's Rest for everything you do to make weddings at your venue so special and personal. -

I had my wedding reception at Travellers Rest Plantation and for the most part was very pleased. The barn is beautiful and you have pretty full ability to decorate however you would like. With some lighting and good decorations it turned into a dream. The grounds are beautiful and made an amazing backdrop for photos, especially if the weather is nice. I also didn't have any problems dealing with the staff in setting up a time to meet and tour, and then with the logisitics of figuring out all the details.
A couple of notes: they do offer a house tour as part of booking the grounds (which I was so excited about). I decided to have guests do this while I was having photos done. I was a bit disappointed to hear that the guides were not that enthusiastic in leading a tour, they just stood around mostly. I think this was a bit of a letdown for my guests who hurried over to the reception site expecting a bit more information about the plantation.
Also, they do have some limitations: no glass bottles given out to guests to drink and no sparklers. These things weren't a big deal for me. -

The Event Coordinator (Rebecca) was amazingly willing to make room for whatever special things we needed... and there were several. We were creating a traditional Hindu marriage ceremony outside a traditional location (temple) so that our priest and all of our non-Hindu friends (and my entire family) could feel welcome.
We got great value for the money, had people willing to be flexible with our other vendors, and all went wonderfully. They had people on-site for last minute issues, but we never even saw them (although they were used by our party -- seamless execution for me never to even notice).
I'd recommend them to anyone for an event from party to wedding. -

We chose to do our outdoor wedding at Travellers Rest Plantation because of the beautiful grounds with huge trees, gorgeous gardens and also the flexibility to use their barn/event center for our reception where they also provided plenty of tables for us to use (which helped us save $ on rentals). Frances Phelps and everyone on staff were professional, helpful, quick to respond when contacted and easy to work with. We liked that we could use any outside vendors we wanted. AND they even gave our guests a tour of the historic house after our ceremony free of charge. Overall, it was a fantastic value for us--which was important as we were on a tight budget. We were determined to pay cash for everything/not go into debt putting on our wedding, so the relatively inexpensive venue fee allowed us to put more money towards the things our guests would enjoy--like food & wine, musicians, flowers, etc. Other venues that offer similar grounds and event spaces were much more expensive and have a lot more rules regarding which vendors you use. With Travellers Rest we could pretty much do anything we wanted. I would highly recommend Travellers Rest to any couple who'd like to do a beautiful outdoor wedding without breaking the bank and want to include a little unique Nashville history in their event. :) -

What a beautiful location for a wedding. The initial cost is really great, but we were interested in the out door barn look which meant renting everything. The chairs and tables provided by the venue were not to our taste and can't be taken from the barn. But working with June was great and she was flexible with our needs. I would warn someone thou the heaters we had for the barn blew the circuit breakers so they were not able to be used. -

We chose Travelers Rest for our ceremony and reception location. Our ceremony was on the side of the historic home with the gorgeous wrap-around porch as our backdrop. Guests enjoyed the shade of the magnolia tree and the scenery was storybook beautiful! After the ceremony guests were invited to tour the home and enjoy a cocktail hour on the grounds. Then guests headed into the barn for our reception. The air-conditioned barn was simply gorgeous with its high ceilings and fireplace. I chose a rustic chic theme for my decorations but you could really customize the barn as you wish - it is like a blank canvas! My dream of a Southern plantation wedding came true with Travelers Rest! My only concerns were the noise level being right next to the interstate and train tracks but luckily the house helped block the noise and a train did not pass through during our ceremony! Also, it was a challenge only having the property for 12 hours and trying to get everything ready the day of. Other than that, I would highly recommend Travelers Rest to anyone and am so blessed to have gotten married there! -

First of all, the plantation is absolutely beautiful! It made the wedding look so good in pictures. Cryssa was extremely helpful, and we pretty much had the run of the place for the entire day. My only issue with them is that they were late showing up to unlock the gate for my family to decorate even though I had paid extra for two additional hours. It's okay though, I think it was just a mixup. They were however, extremely kind and understanding when it started raining just as I was about to process down the isle. The workers helped move everything to a covered location, and they were very kind about the whole ordeal. I definitely would recommend them. It was a good value for such a beautiful location. -

After my first visit to Travellers Rest, I knew there was something simply magical about the venue. It felt as if my wedding was tucked away in a private woodsy retreat. Wonderfully shaded, and surrounded by breath-taking nature... I knew this would be the perfect backdrop for my dream wedding. Our wedding ceremony was held outside on the front lawn, with an electic mix of vintage church pews for the guest. After the ceremony, guest enjoyed St. Germain cocktails and passed hor d'oeuvres on the gorgeous porch. The reception was both outside and inside the oh-so-cute barn. All my guest raved about how amazingly beautiful Travellers Rest was. Frances was absolutely fabulous to work with! Overall amazing experience with our wedding venue and Frances! -

I was so discouraged when trying to find a garden venue for my wedding. Everything was either so expensive or so hard to work with. Then someone told me about Traveller's Rest. It is so beautiful because it feels like you are getting married at a special place that not many people know about. I grew up in the country with gardens and barns and this was so me! The site is well-maintained, very beautiful. The most amazing part is what you get for your money. We did the complete package which included the barn rental for the reception. They had tables & chairs we were able to use (included in the cost) and they let you bring in your own catering at no extra charge. They were so flexible with the fact we needed to do the barn set up the night before - they allowed us to do this. They worked with us a lot. The only issue I ever had was trying to talk to the right person. I believe they have new staff now so this might be resolved. Don't get me wrong - they were nice. It was just sometimes hard to get through to the coordinators. Other than that, it was a DREAM! I would highly recommend them over and over again! -

As MOB, I helped alot with planning. Since this is the south, and a July wedding, we looked for a venue that offered both outdoor ceremony and indoor air-conditioned reception. We had approx 135 guests and plenty of room for buffet dinner, bartenders table, and DJ. Between the close of the ceremony and start of the reception, guests were taken on a tour of the historic building by one of the staff. You cannot beat the location, being close to Brentwood hotel, for out of town guests. Coordinator answered all our questions regarding what we could and could not do regarding decor, etc. Two thumbs up! -

The only complaint I have is the lighting in the parking area and along the pathway to the barn. I knew where I was going and still had a hard time. I had guests who had never been there wandering around in the woods trying to find the barn. Motion lights in the trees or on the buildings along the path and some signage would be very helpful. The solar lights are not enough. It is one of those things that you wouldn't know about ahead of time since potential renters view the venue in the daytime. -

Beautiful grounds minimized the need for decorations for the ceremony. Barn was great for the reception. We ordered too many tables and chairs as people wanted to walk around. -

Beautiful reception site for a southern wedding. We had 350 guests and there was plenty of room. The garden is very nice for the summer or spring as well. This place was perfect and easy to work with! -

I loved Traveler's Rest. The grounds are absolutely gorgeous, you don't need any extra decor, outside or inside the barn. I hate exclusive vendors, and we loved how flexible they were and how they didn't limit the vendors we could bring in (only 2 were exclusive when I signed my contract in June 2016). Overall we loved working with them and everything worked out perfectly; I just wish they would not have any exclusive vendors. -

Our daughters wedding was simply beautiful, however TR did not call her as promised when someone else showed up with deposit money to book her original wedding date. It worked out in the end marrying on a Friday, however it caused the bride to be alot of heartache at first. In the long run, the facility was wonderful for the outdoor ceremony and the barn was great for the reception. It was really nice having it all at one place. Plus, the venue was in the "backyard" of her grandparents home long ago. It was wonderful and we do recommend a coordinator for the wedding. -

Travellers Rest grounds are beautiful. Mary may take a day or two to respond, but she doesn't always follow up. Travellers Rest lest you bring in your own vendors and is definitely worth the month. I would refer to friend. -

I had my wedding ceremony and reception at Traveller's Rest, and it was lovely and wonderful. The venue is gorgeous, and there's lots of options for ceremony locations. Everyone that I spoke with there was incredibly sweet and helpful. My mom and I dealt mostly with Cryssa, although she went on maternity leave a week before the wedding, so we had someone else at that point (I'm so sorry, I don't remember the name, but she was wonderful too!). The price is comparable to other historic sites in the area. The only downsides I experienced were minor, and they were the lack of a bathroom in the house itself where the bride's dressing room is. I ended up letting my husband and his guys take that room so I could get ready in the barn near the bathrooms. The bathrooms do have an outside door and random people that were touring the house that day would sometimes come in. I could've had her lock the doors, but it wasn't a huge deal. I will also say to make sure to read all the fine print in the contract several times throughout planning. I know I read through it when we signed, but with so much planning some things got lost along the way, and I had to make some bartending changes to meet their requirements. Overall, I loved having my wedding here and would absolutely recommend it to anyone (and I have!) -

I had my wedding ceremony and reception in the Barn at Travellers Rest. It turned out really beautiful and the guests enjoyed the historical setting. The staff at Travellers Rest was extremely nice and flexible to work with. Travellers Rest provides tables and chairs, but nothing else. So in your budget consider that things like tablecloths, glassware, catering, flowers, decorations, etc. are provided by you. My biggest complaint with Travellers Rest was that there was no stove top or ice maker in the kitchen, which was a pain for our caterer. Hopefully they will be able to purchase these items in the future. -

The location is absolutely beautiful and the location was perfectly situated for our reception. The garden and outside of the house are perfect for bridal portraits and everyone was impressed with how beautiful the reception was. The only frustration was slight and had to do with some last minute changes we needed to make and a little inflexibility on their part. Overall, though, we were very satisfied. -

This venue is a beautiful location; close to downtown but not too far away; reasonably priced; the tables and chairs are included if you are renting the barn; you can have tours included of the plantation; there is a back driveway where you can drop off guests who have disabilities or other special needs-it made my wedding day absolutely perfect! -

Tell your guests not to leave valuables in their car! Three cars had windows smashed and things stolen on the day of our wedding, and the staff mentioned that this has happened in the past. Why they would not warn people is beyond me, but consider this that warning.
Otherwise, we were very happy with this venue. It's absolutely beautiful, and more affordable than other, similar venues. Lots of our guests commented on how lovely it was. Their policies are very flexible, and they were easy to work with. -

Not a perfect score, but I still highly recommend this venue! We were married under a gorgeous magnolia tree and partied into the night in the barn. I had the most fun planning decorations and set up to complement an already beautiful location. It was fun to be in an historic setting and so easy to have fabulous, natural photos. The barn wedding is so trendy these days and TR delivered! I also had a planner change midway but felt plenty in control of what I wanted and needed to do that it didn't affect us all that much. We lucked out with a discount somehow, otherwise it might have been too expensive for us. We ended up with the Barn, Garden and Grounds package and took full advantage of enjoying the beauty of the place. More people need to give this place a look to see if it works for them. We definitely were pleased with our experience. I'm going tot submit my photos so maybe there are some more recent ones on their site! :) -

Great local venue. the person in charge of rental events left midway through my planning and no one notified me and the new girl did not know much about our wedding, but in the end, it turned out just fine -

The grounds at the Historic Travellers Rest Plantation are so beautiful in the Spring and Fall. It was the perfect setting for my wedding for sure. The value is not the best. It was a lot of money for a little service and only 12hrs on the grounds. They were responsive to all my needs, but weren't exactly professional about meeting those needs. My biggest disappointment is that as the bride I was in contact with their events coordinator (Francis) and as she was very nice, she was very unavailable. I set up meetings for my final walk-through and the rehearsal, and expected her to attend both. She didn't attend either and for no good reason. -

Our wedding was gorgeous, such an unbelievable venue. Unfortunatley it seemed as though the rental coordinator had too much on her plate. She forgot who I was everytime I talked to her and was very difficult to get ahold of. Also they are not flexible, you need to know what you need ahead of time with no mess-ups because they are not going to be accomodating. Overall, great beautiful place to hold a wedding, but make sure you are on top of everything in the beginning. -

The wedding venue is great for price and extremely beautiful. The staff is absolutely terrible to work with (not the event coordinator but the people who work at the gift shop) and not friendly at all. There are sooooo many rules that you have to follow the day of the wedding that unless you have a planner, it is almost impossible to have a stress-free day. They are very demanding on getting everything they need (paperwork - payment etc.) but we are still waiting on our deposit check that was mailed out over a week ago. We thought by having our wedding here and getting cheaper vendors, we would have a nice wedding on the cheaper side - but ended up spending more because you have to accommodate Travellers Rest's rules. -

After weeks of trying to get a hold of June to set up a site visit I was finally able to see the property. It is beautiful! My fiancé and I agreed this was the place for us. I then tried to reach back out to finalize our plans and pay her. This was months ago, and I have yet to hear from her. Very disappointing. Needless to say we booked a different venue. -
