Great Cakes & Pies

Heitzman provided a beautiful cake, cupcakes & mini pies for our wedding. It was exactly what we wanted and delicious! They were affordable, easy, and fair to work with. I would recommend them!

Wonderful experience!

Marguerite did amazing setting up my catering and cake for my wedding this past weekend! We've been connecting for over a year now and she's been super helpful with any changes we've made along the way. From food tasting to cake tasting, she worked with us to make our evening perfect. Her and the servers that attended our wedding were courteous and made the day very special. I would recommend them to anyone!

Yummy cake

We had a two tier cake with cupcakes and they were so yummy. Our guests loved being able to just grab a cupcake and go. The only issue we had is that they didn't stay very fresh through out our wedding but they were also placed close to a door that we ended up having to open so I'm sure that is why.

Marquette is wonderful to work with. I showed her a picture of the wedding cake I wanted from Pinterest and our wedding cake was exactly as I had asked AND it was delicious!
We shopped around and went to a few tastings. Best price and quality by far.

So amazing. Carried out every detail perfectly. Marguerite and Dan are so conscientious and really care about the service they provide, which makes everything really high quality. You can expect the best from them. They provided catering and did our cake/dessert table. HIGHLY recommend for both services!!

They were prepared and gave us several choices including things we didn’t think of and decided to go with. Also they gave us a great dea on the grooms cake. We haven’t had the wedding yet but so far I am really happy with this choice.

Awesome service! Went for the cake tasting and put our deposit down the same day. We could even go in the day before the wedding to view the cake and make sure it was exactly how we wanted. Loved everything about Heitzmans!

I got a 4 tier wedding cake that turned out beautiful. The cake was very moist and delicious as well. We had tons left over.

I WENT to the Heitzmens bakery on shelbyville rd and had a wonderfull experience. Margaret helped me design a beautiful cake. They helped to put my mothers cake topper on. It was really fun to do the cake testing.

Heitzman made an amazing engagement cake for my party and was offering a free grooms cake with a $300 purchase and I got my grooms cake and wedding cake from there! I brought a picture from Pinterest and they will create anything-I cannot wait!! They were very professional and willing to accommodate to make sure I had exactly what I wanted!

Our cake was delicious! Living with Celiac Disease and needing to eat gluten free I had the hardest time finding a cake decently priced that tastes good! Heitzman's did an incredible job!!

Marguerite and her staff did an amazing job at our daughter and son-in-law's
recent wedding where they catered and provided the cake. The food was all great and hot, the cake was delicous, I would recommend them to anyone seeking a cake or to having their affair catered. Marguerite is a sweet individual who takes a lot of pride in her job and business.

We bundled our cake and catering (including a free Groom's cake) with them and saved a good amount of money. They have a great variety of food to choose from so you can customize your reception dinner/lunch. The cake was the same way, we sat down with the owner and picked out everything that we wanted on our cake and when we finally saw it, it was tremendous.

Marguerite of Heitzman's Bakery on Shelbyville Rd was outstanding to work with! We had a 4 tiered half & half cake with 3 tiers of almond and one tier of chocolate with raspberry filling. Our guests devoured this gorgeous as well as delicious cake.

Since our wedding was a Mardi Gras theme, my husband opted to get King Cakes for his groom's cake. Those were a big hit as well.

Initially, we had chosen another caterer I'd rather not name but they left us with so many unaswered questions and we'd have to do some of the work involved, which any couple doesn't need. We were trying to save on cost but the stress that would have been would not have been worth it.
We chose Heitzmans because they were already doing our cake and we had a copy of their catering offerings which were a good deal. Our tasting appointment was more than we could have asked for. They gave us samples of everything we wanted to try and other ideas that might work with our selections. ALL of their food was so good. The owner, Marguerite, is so awesome. She worked with us on price, guided us on quantity and selection without being pushy, rude or impatient.
Day of, the setup was beautiful, as she promised, plently of food, plates, napkins and cutlery and they cleaned up and broke everything down without us even noticing! She even boxed the groom and I up take home plates. It was so nice to feel like I didn't have to worry about a thing and our guests enjoyed the meal. You really can't go wrong going with Heitzmans.

They sent a marines groom cake instead of an army one but fixed it before anyone arrived at the venue!

Heitzman's did a beautiful job on our wedding cake. They even left boxes for us to put the left overs in. Our groom's cake was free but looked a little messy. Overall wonderful cake though.

The staff at Heitzman Traditional were great to work with. I ordered at 4 tier wedding cake and a grooms cake and they both looked amazing. I got exactly what I asked for and it taste very well to!.. I originally came in with one design.. a few months later decided to change my mind and chose another design.. and then the day before the wedding I actually changed my mind again with the design and they had no problem giving me what I wanted! Very professioinal!!!

We used the Heitzman's on Shepherdsville Road and Hikes Lane. We ordered our wedding cake, a couple sheet cakes and our groom's cake through this store. Price was very reasonable- they were even willing to negotiate when we showed them a quote from another bakery.
Amanda was right on time delivering, and even decorated the cake top for us. Everything tasted delicious. They were so easy to work with. The cake was EXACTLY what we wanted, and they made it all so easy. Will definitely work with this bakery again in the future!

We used Heitzman's on Shelbyville Road and Hurstbourne for our cake and catering. Marguerite and her staff are amazing. The value and customer service they provided are unheard of. She was easy to work with, very accommodating, and went above and beyond to make our event special. Everything went flawless. Food was great and hot. Cake was the talk of the wedding. Couldn't say enough....you may find more "sophisticated" food somewhere else but for great tasting food and cake with amazing customer service choose Heitzmans on shelbyville.

My daughter had a cupcake tree for her wedding that had a 2-tier cake on top for she & her husband and the bridal party. Her cake & cupcakes were very fresh & delicious. The 2-tier cake was beautiful! The delivery person was late but still made it before the start of the reception. The biggest issue we had was one of the tiers at the bottom of the cardboard tower used to hold everything stated to lean and looked ready to fall. Thankfully someone brought it to my attention and with the quick-thinking of my caterer, we used small plastic cups to support it so then all was good. But the bride & groom hadn't cut their cake yet, nor the first cupcake had been served so that could have really been a disaster if 228 cupcakes and the bride & groom's 2-layers and gone over on the floor.
We also ordered their chicken tenders to have in addition to what our caterer was preparing. These chicken tenders was huge and they were great! They make their tenders from fresh, not frozen chicken, batter them and fry them so they are terrific.
I only gave a 4-star rating on quality of service because of the late delivery and the leaning cardboard stand. Other than that, all was very good!

This cake was fantastic. My husband can't stop raving about it. I definitely recommend the strawberry but the white was really good too. We had carrot cake as well which was just as awesome. They listened to what I wanted for design and used a picture I had found as inspiration. The cake tasted wonderful and I can't wait to eat our piece in the freezer for our first anniversary.

My husband and I got married on the beach and came back and and had our reception here.

I looked at every cake place and I'm also a wedding planner freelancing. I chose Heitzmans because they had the best price and the best flavor.

We had three cakes, our wedding cake, which was a castle. It was beautiful. Then we had a grooms cake which was just a sheet cake decorated as a beach scene. Then a sheet cake for my stepson that was scooby doo. I wish I'd tasted the cake that day. It was so moist and delicious.

I did get to taste the Red Velvet on the reception day.

We tasted Peanut Butter, White, Red Velvet, Orange, Marble, and Strawberry. OH YUMMY!!

I have celiac disease so was limited to my options for getting a gluten free wedding cake. Heitzman's has a dedicated area for gluten free so it puts my mind at ease. I also asked them to show me a sample of what the designs we discussed would look like for the petit fours for the guests and they whipped up a couple samples. Very responsive and helpful. Can't wait to see the real thing!

Heitzman's Bakery was easy to work with. I had a pretty good idea what I wanted and they made it happen! Delivery went smoothly and we got our grooms cake free with the wedding cake making it a pretty good value.

Also most importantly their cake is delicious, I didn't know how big of a fan of strawberry cake I was until I had theirs. We had three layers, strawberry, red velvet and funfetti (I was surprised this was an option but it's one of my favorites so it was perfect).

I was happy with my wedding cake and how it looked. I would recommend using the bakery on Shelbyville Road to place your order if you want something special. I did not and was not very pleased with the service provided by the other establishment. The wedding cakes are made at the Shelbyville Road location.

The cake was beautiful and tasted wonderful. The price was fair. However, the staff members were cold and off putting about 75% of the time. They do great work but need to work I their people skills.

Great tasting cake, but wrong design and on a cake plate.

We had our tasting close to Christmas and the bakery was packed. We shared photos and left them behind of what we wanted. A white cake with blush flowers, they said they had a cake plate to hold the three tier cake and we got in. Before the wedding in May we sent additional photos of what we wanted, and increased our cupcake order from 7.5 to 10 dozen, and also said we had our own cake plate. When we arrived for the wedding, the cake was pink with white flowers, and on a white cake plate that did not match the other serving pieces we had for the cupcakes. We ran out of cupcakes and realized we did not get 10 dozen but the original order. Our wedding planner Charissa Shea did not even notice any of this, so this was all determined on the wedding day. When I reached out to Margarite, she took full responsibility and gave us a small partial refund. There no value you can put on the look that was not on our cake table and the photographer did her best to dull the awful pink color. We also ordered a catered lunch at the venue, (before photos) you specifically have to ask for plates, serving pieces, etc. I somehow did not and it was a bit of a scurry to gather. Double check all orders here, the food and cakes are good, but details need to be reviewed.

The food and service at the reception was great! As for responsiveness, it was extremely hard to get in contact during the planning process which led to some differences in food items and dishware that was ordered/paid for versus what showed up at the reception.

The food was delicious and so was the cake. They were super accommodating to what we wanted and our tastings. However, I did a final meeting 4 days before my wedding and they already had my cake baked and it was wrong. I wasn't happy that they already had it made that far in advance and I was even more upset that it was wrong but they fixed it. However, for the ceremony we had ordered deep fried hot browns for our appetizer and they did not bring them. They brought something else that wasn't nearly as good and it wasn't served to my guests - it was just sat out on a table. She didn't even bother to tell me until I asked where they were then she said that they had burned them and that they would credit me for them. I requested that no beer be served during dinner and they didn't listen. I had to get up during my dinner (AS THE BRIDE) and tell them again that they weren't allowed to be serving beer until after dinner. Then my sister in law was outside and one of the bartenders for them was talking about how ridiculous I was for saying that no beer be served during dinner. I am not pleased at all with my experience and I definitely wouldn't recommend them. It's definitely worth spending a little more somewhere else, I promise.

At the beginning, we had great service. I called to find out how much ribbon they needed. I brought double. Ordered our flavors. Told them what we wanted. They even had a picture in the store.

Day of wedding, I walk in to reception and was not happy. The cake was half the size we wanted. The ribbon was the ribbon we took and some they found. Ribbon was falling off. Cake was not the color we wanted. The hearts were not the correct color.

Talked to the bakery. THey apologized and we received half of the cost back. They ran out of ribbon. They underestimated. In all, there were a total of 6 mistakes on the cake.

Hired for a wedding and grooms cake. It wasn't until we had already put our deposit down that the problems began. Communication and getting in contact with the cake designers was horrible. Calls were not returned, emails were ignored, and all employees had a different answer for every question. Everyone seemed indifferent towards your needs and you were simply treated like number. Every reply to every email indicated I wasn't not remembered as a client. I was assured the grooms cake could be done (I was hesitant because they hadn't done it before), but it really looked nothing like the several images I sent. And because the icing color was grey and the cake did not look like han solo frozen carbonite, it was ugly. Details that were specified on the grooms cake were overlooked and when they were called the day of the wedding about it they said they would come and correct the issue (it was simply words written with icing). No one ever showed so my grooms cake looked like a grey block missing key words that would indicate the reference for what it was. The wedding cake was beautiful (thank god for the pictures) but the vanilla layer and chocolate layers were dry and seemed older than the strawberry and red velvet flavors. Many of my guests noticed and frankly it was embarassing. I would rather them have been upfront and honest if they were over worked and could not do my wedding cake and/or designs so I could have had a product I was happier with. Rather than taking my money and doing a seemingly half assed job. Too bad there won't be a next time since you only get married once.

I had a lot of trouble communicating with Heitzman's.
I purchased a Groupon for their services without having any previous experience with them.
My initial consulation was rescheduled 3 times by the bakery for various reasons.
The consultation went well, but I was not prepared to pay the remaining balance that day. I called the next week to make the final payment, but I was told the Wedding Coordinator was out of town. It took me MONTHS of calling trying to PAY them. They did not release wedding files to any other staff members, so none could take my payment. I was told messages were left and she would call me back. They eventually told me to come to the store with my copy of the contract to pay. When I did, (after driving 25 minutes) I was told by the cashier that she got in trouble for taking payment and wouldn't take mine.

Needless to say, I was just crossing my fingers hoping my cake would SHOW UP. The cake was to be set up right next to my ceremony space, so it was reiterated that the cake COULD NOT be late. And of course, Heitzman showed up late, right before the ceremony began.

The cake looked just as I had planned and it was delicious. The quality of the product did not make up for the unnacceptable customer service, however. At the end of the day, I would not recommend this bakery.

Horrible! They kept losing my order so i kept having to go back to reorder all the way up until a month before my wedding. We had ordered flowers and a special design and the cake came plain! I have not heard back from the woman still and she avoids all calls. They are very rude!!!! Not only that but I also ordered sheet cake for extra and they decorated it nothing like my cake and put it on the cake table next to mine.

Not good. Very poor service

Nothing good to say about this vendor. I was delivered the wrong cake. The cake I did get was tasteless none of my guest liked it. The fondant just fell off as we were cutting it. This was not the cake I ordered.

My wedding was June of 2017 and at first Heitzman's was the perfect caterer for both my cake and my food I was really looking forward to it because the food we tasted was fantastic and the service was amazing. Then came the day of, we called to see what time everything was going to be delivered and I have never received such disrespect and attitude from Dan. He never answered my husbands question about what time everything was going to be delivered so I gave them a call and a worker answered and then told me Dan already spoke to someone about this matter so he would not speak to me and I was given Marguerite number. As she ended up being helpful, everything still didn't go as it was supposed to. When they got there to set up my bartender asked the set up crew where the cake was, they proceeded to say that it was going to be delivered later after giving her a look of confusion. My cake was delivered at 345 (15 minutes after my reception had started) there was no groomsmen cake. My dad gave them a call and they had no idea where the cake was, after not receiving a call back my brother and I called asking about the groomsmen cake. They said it was delivered to a different venue. At 630pm the groomsmen cake was delivered and was a very detailed cake and look good but you could bluntly tell that it had been touched and messed with. The delivery lady told me and my mom that she just picked it up and brought it here. Being that the cake had been messed with I denied the cake, my husband walked up and she proceed to tell him that they had just remade it (which was impossible being how detailed the cake was). After that I go and cut my wedding cake during my reception and it's the wrong flavor and wrong decorations. After all said and done my dad called the bakery and never got a call back from Marguerite. He ended up emailing her a week later and finally got a response and she never once apologized for the mistake and kept defending the situation. The food was decent but th

OMG... Run away from this place as fast as you can. A disaster waiting to happen. .. On your wedding day! There's a big, big problem there. The most ignorant, rude management on Earth. Sad for any bride. Should not be in the wedding cake business.
