I don’t even know where to start. Heather Ryan and her team are the absolute best of the best. Hands down, there is no question about it. My husband and I were very fortunate to have had two close friends use Heather Ryan to capture their wedding one year prior to ours. After seeing the photos from their wedding, it made our decision on a photographer very easy. We booked her instantly.
I could rave about Heather all day. Leading up to the big day, she was so easy to coordinate and plan with via email/phone. She was very flexible and willing to shift timelines and plans as my husband and I planned and replanned the big day. On the day of, she arrived early and got straight to work. She moved quietly and quickly without interrupting precious moments throughout the day. She was always ready. Even when we fell behind on our timeline she kept calm and kept us calm and kept things moving all while still capturing absolutely stunning photos. I would pick Heather Ryan and team to capture our wedding a million times over again. We cannot thank her enough or give her a high enough rating.

Beautiful Photos! Perfect Combination of Professionalism and Friendliness
Working with Heather was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding. She was a joy to work with (AND does not waste time), our photos were beautiful, and she is so well versed in this area her recommendations and support were helpful even to our planner and other vendors - not that I am suggesting that is part of her job!
I had a serious health issue before our wedding, and while I know it inconvenienced her, she never was anything but kind and supportive. I 100% recommend Heather and cannot thank her enough for how much easier she made our time and having one piece of the wedding we had no worries and stress about.

Heather is an amazing photographer. Not only does she take beautiful pictures but she provides just the right amount of cues and prompts for picture taking to make you feel comfortable. There is so much happening on the wedding day and having some that is personable with your family and friends is super important! Heather's turn around time on the photos was very quick, within just a few days. We were still on a wedding high and were so excited to share the pictures with our family and friends! Heather did an amazing job photographing our engagement and wedding at the Naval Academy, we cannot recommend her highly enough! She has a great eye for lighting and contrast, and she was able to take great pictures in all kinds of locations both inside and outside. Even though being photographed can feel unnatural at times, she has a great personality and was able to make us feel comfortable. If we could give her 10 stars we would!!! :)

Heather is amazing! We purchased the engagement and wedding pics package and from the start, Heather put us at ease. She took creative and stunning pictures for our engagement shoot and got to know us as a couple. She took time to listen to our love story and capture the types of images that we wanted for our special day. For our engagement pics she was flexible based on time of day and weather for outdoor pictures. At our wedding, we especially appreciated her subtle and kind manner throughout the ceremony and reception. She knew when to be barely noticed, and when to move quickly to capture candid shots. I also liked being able to catch my breath at the sidelines of my reception and know that she'd be just a nice person to chat with. We received all of our images on time in exactly the format that she promised! She told us that she follows couples as they become their own families and she is already on the list for some of our guests who want a phenomenal photographer for their upcoming events.

We found Heather from glowing reviews online and are so happy that she was our wedding photographer! What initially drew my husband and I to Heather was her photography style and use of true colors. She made us feel so comfortable in our engagement shoot and delivered all the photos to us, not just her favorites. She was very professional and responsive in all of our communications throughout the wedding planning process, which my type-A self very much appreciated. The icing on the cake was how quickly we received our full photo album. It was a unique circumstance with an open window in her schedule, but we received our full album a week after our wedding. There is simply no better photographer to hire. From the first phone call with Heather 8 months before my wedding I knew I was going to be taken care of. I didn’t have an engagement shoot with her and ended up meeting her 2 days before my wedding but it felt like she was an old friend I was catching up with. Heather creates such a comfortable environment on what is probably the busiest day of your life, gets along with every member of your wedding party/family, and captures every moment you didn’t know you wanted to be photographed. While looking for photographers, her wedding gallery stood out among many, and her photos felt like the most authentic (and best edited) photos I saw. We could not be happier with choosing Heather as our wedding photographer. She was a recommended vendor from our venue, but we took a risk with not having met her prior to our wedding day. From the moment we met her, she was a calming presence and knew exactly how to guide my husband and I, wedding party and family for all photos. I cannot endorse Heather Ryan Photography more strongly. From day 1 Heather was professional, courteous, and knowledgeable. She led us every step of the way, even around the many hurdles the US Naval Academy erects when it comes to timing, access, and photography locations. My husband and I can't stop watching the 1200 photo gallery and are struggling to choose which we want to print and hang because they are all fabulous. Heather knows her stuff, so trust her judgment. Def complete her forms and ask questions if you have them. She is laid back, fun, and very nice. When we started looking for wedding photographers I was scared we wouldn’t find someone who could capture the moments that were important to us. I had reached out to a few other photographers but the instant we spoke with Heather we knew this was the fit for us. Heather took the time to speak with us and really get a feel for what we wanted and get to know us. She took all of that and made our engagement session so fun, playful and romantic! She did everything to make sure she captured all different shots we wanted. We knew from there we had the best to capture our special day.
On the day of our wedding, Heather was there on time and ready to go. Heather is so personable I honestly felt like I had another friend with me getting ready. Heather and our videographer worked SO well together and our whole day was captured with every photo she took.

If you're looking for a photographer who goes above and beyond, look no further. Heather was by far one of the best vendors we hired for our May 2022 wedding! My husband and I are both pretty shy when it comes to taking pictures and from the moment we met with Heather for our engagement photos, she made us feel very comfortable and gave us great direction for poses. Prior to both our engagement session and wedding, Heather was very communicative, flexible, and answered all of my questions (and I had a lot!) On our wedding day Heather was extremely professional and she worked well alongside our videographer despite never working with him before. We received our entire wedding album a week after our wedding and we loved them just as much as we loved our engagement photos. Couples look no further! Heather is an absolute dream come true. Not only is every frame stunning, but she is punctual, responsive, and one of the most easy going vendors I have had the pleasure of working with. We had an insanely large bridal party, that was not always the easiest to wrangle, and she handled it beautifully. If you are looking for a amazing wedding photographer to capture your big day, look no further and book Heather as soon as possible! Heather was hands down my favorite vendor for my wedding! She was my right hand making sure not only that she captured the day perfectly, but that we didn’t miss or forget any traditions that we wanted. She always made time to chat through any questions I had and efficiently responded to my emails too. Highly recommend the second photographer as well. Heather was amazing in every way possible. We ended up postponing our wedding due to Covid, and she helped us navigate the reschedule and honored the contract for the new date. Our pictures from our engagement session & wedding were even better than I could have imagined. She helped get us sorted when our day-of schedule got off track and when the weather turned, as well. Annapolis Engagement Photos
My fiance and I shot our engagement session with Heather earlier in 2021 and had the most wonderful experience! She was easy to communicate with leading up to the day and very receptive to all of our requests. We wanted all of our photos to focus on Annapolis and the Naval Academy, where we met, which she captured perfectly! She got everything on our shot list and recommended many more wonderful shots along the way as well. We had the best time with her and haven't stopped looking at our photos since!

Talented and Amazing To Work With
Absolutely loved working with Heather Ryan for my wedding day. Emails were always prompt and responsive, and she was always able to provide extra insights that made the photoshoots extra special. As someone who isn't the most comfortable in front of camera, I was initially a bit apprehensive in choosing photographers, but Heather and her assistant provided such a relaxing and casual atmosphere during the shoots that the photos turned out beautifully. Highly Recommend Heather!
We are so happy we chose Heather to be our photographer at our wedding! There are so many great things to say about her it's hard to decide where to start! We were first introduced by a friend who had booked Heather for her wedding. When my fiancé and I got engaged we were excited that she was available for our wedding date. Heather was helpful from the moment we reached out to ask about her availability. She walked us through the planning process and was always responsive to any questions we had. The day of our wedding, Heather was extremely organized and professional. You can tell she knows what she is doing and does it well. Not only did she take BEAUTIFUL pictures, but she was so thoughtful and interacted with all of our family, friends, and guests in a friendly and professional manner. She captured our special day perfectly. She didn't miss a thing - not only did she capture our planned events for the day, but she even captured an unplanned moment when my fiancé surprised me and told me he had my wedding ring engraved without me knowing. My fiancé and I are far from being models, but Heather made us look and feel like ones on our wedding day. She expertly picked the best locations and poses for our photos. She also went out of her way to accommodate our requests, like taking photos out on the dock at our venue in the cold. Heather quickly produced a photo preview for us after our wedding. Since then we have gotten our full set of pictures and love how great they all turned out. We can't thank Heather enough for all of her hard work and dedication. Heather is thoughtful, considerate, and extremely talented. We would definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a photographer!

Outstanding customer service!
Heather is hands down the best. She not only takes amazing, breath taking pictures but she also becomes a close friend during the wedding process. I called her at least 5 times to talk about things that were stressing me. She has this calm sensation about her. Planning during the pandemic was insane but Heather always had a suggestion to help us through it. Day of, she was flexible, on time, and perfect. My husband hates taking photos and she made him and his friends feel so comfortable. She gets the photos that you don’t even think about. We already have our photos hanging in the house and have given them as beautiful Christmas gifts. I miss working with her! She also has completed 4 of my friends weddings and is doing another one in May! Can’t wait to see her at the next event and use her in the future! She is the best, don’t look anywhere else!

Heather is a complete doll and beyond talented with photography. She was recommended by my best friend and MOH. After being in my best friends wedding, I knew there was no way I could go with any other photographers. Planning a wedding during a pandemic with postponements, mandates and chaos, Heather was so accommodating and flexible. She truly cares about making her clients happy and working with their needs. Between engagement pictures and wedding pictures we could not have been happier with how she captured everything so perfectly. We even got our entire family canvas pictures from our favorite day through her this Christmas and they were a huge hit!! Wonderful experience!
We absolutely loved working with Heather during our wedding this September in Annapolis! Heather was the first vendor I choose after booking our venue and I am so glad I did!
She was great during the whole process from our first initial phone call to helping me with the day-of photo timeline (we did a first look and photos with a large wedding party before the ceremony). I am very grateful for our planning phone calls and communication. We were on the same page about everything and she was a great listener!
Our wedding day was actually the first time I met her in personaI and just from our calls and emails I felt like I knew her. I felt totally comfortable with her. She was professional, so sweet and a calming presence! She was awesome to work with and I was so so happy with everything.

I really can’t put into words how AMAZING Heather Ryan was as our wedding photographer. She is hands down the best photographer in the area. Heather was such a fun person to document our wedding day and from start to finish knew all the right moves to ensure our photos were perfect. The best wedding photographer - and a joy to work with!
Heather is an absolute joy to work with and her photos are perfection. We were so happy with both the engagement photo shoot and most importantly the wedding day photos. She is friendly and wonderful in person, as well as responsive and professional leading up to and following the wedding. It was important for me and my husband that we chose someone who could capture all the candid moments, but not be invasive, and Heather was exactly that. She ensured the photos looked like art, but she didn't force it if it wasn't organic to the moment. She captured moments where I had no idea she was there, and they will be some of our most cherished photos. Everyone has raved about the photos -- family and friends alike. You should book Heather as soon as possible if you are getting married in the DMV area.

The Most Amazing Person Ever
From our engagement session to our wedding day Heather was amazing. My husband and I are definitely ones to prefer being behind the camera rather than in front of one. However from the moment we met Heather at our engagement session location she made us feel so comfortable. Since we don’t usually pose for photos the direction she provided allowed for beautiful photos and even the candidness of others captured amazing moments in time. The turn around time was so fast I couldn’t even believe it. Our favorite photos from our day were our first look and our first dance. We loved her so much, my family booked her again over the summer!
Heather Ryan was so amazing, she not only photographed our wedding in January of 2020, but she also photographed my brother's wedding in June in my parents backyard (Covid safety precautions were taken). Heather has an eye for poses, timing and spends the time getting to know her couples. Every interaction we had with her was nothing but professional. My entire family felt so comfortable and loved her work so much, we hired her not only for my brothers surprise engagement but also his (covid) backyard wedding. We have now booked her for our engagement shoot, our wedding, my brothers surprise engagement followed by a photoshoot and my brothers backyard wedding.
Heather did everything to ensure my brother and his wife had beautiful photos. Granted it was also 95+ degrees that day, but Heather never tired and even wore her mask the whole time.
If you're looking for a photographer for anything, we highly recommend Heather. We hope to book her for future sessions!!

We were fortunate to be one of Heather’s first clients with maternity pictures....and year after year we have returned back to Heather. She’s taken our newborn pictures for both children and countless family pictures. Wedding Ceremony and Surprise Proposal
Heather is truly phenomenal at her job! I first met heather when I was trying to plan a surprise proposal for my girlfriend at the time. Heather was very flexible and ready to go at the exact moment when I popped the question. I was already nervous enough and not having to worry about this was a relief.
Since then, Heather has photographed my sister's wedding at the Chesapeake Beach Bay Club as well as my own wedding. My wife and I got married in a backyard (due to COVID) and Heather was able to photograph the entire ceremony in a socially distanced and responsible manner.
Heather sincerely brings a sense of joy to her work that keep everyone in the photoshoot authentically smiling. I am a particular person but she has never hesitated to make any request a reality. Of course, her pictures are flawless and she provides easy, secure access to your photos following the event. Check out Heather's blog and Facebook and you will see the pride in her work. She even remembers anniversaries and small details like that keep us coming back.
My family has used Heather three times in less than a year for major events. We are grateful for this and have every intention to continue using her in the future!

Heather was such a joy to work with, I am so happy I booked her to take our engagement and wedding photos. Heather really made my husband and I feel comfortable as she took our photos (which was a huge deal to me as I am not at ease in front of a camera). Also, Heather made our engagement photo session a memorable and fun event in itself. Heather thought of creative poses and settings which really made our engagement photos unique and reflective of our personality as a couple. I could not be happier with the experience and the photos she took.
On the day of our wedding Heather arrived early and met with our wedding coordinator, she also toured the event space and got to know the building. Heather kept track of all the details that I could not manage the day of the wedding, which was a big relief! Heather was able to get all of the photos of the bridal party and family that we requested and discussed beforehand (which was not an easy task!). Overall, Heather did such an amazing job, I received many compliments from family and friends about her work after our wedding was over. Where do I even begin??! From my first conversation with Heather I knew right away that she was the perfect fit. She is very easygoing, sweet, and just a joy to be around and work with. Today is our one year wedding anniversary and as I’ve been looking back on pictures, I thought it fitting to come back and post a review. Heather was beyond amazing. I can’t explain enough how skillful she is in her work and how amazing her personality is. She is so adaptable, personable, and ORGANIZED! She made planning my day in terms of times, must have shots etc so much easier.
I chose to work with heather and only heather (I didn’t even seek inquiries from any other businesses) because she had photographed two other weddings that I was a bridesmaid in, and I was able to see her talented work first hand. Her passion shows through her pictures and I knew I didn’t want anyone else to capture my day. She’s so talented, when guests asked me who the photographers were, they were stunned when i said I only had one. Heather also got pictures back to me so quickly, even with having a December 22 wedding with holidays. Not only this, but she was able to photoshop one of the photos for us to take someone out (eek, wrong family member in the wrong family photo!!) and a few months ago, when my “bonus” brother passed away, she sent me photos that she captured of him that she had zoomed in on so I had more personal touches of him.
This is a photographer that goes above and beyond. Words can’t describe my gratitude and admiration for Heather, so I sure hope this review does her a little bit of justice. My husband and I are really looking forward to working with her again in the future for family photos when that time comes. She’s now the only photographer I want to stick with!! Heather, we love you and thank you so much for making our special day a year ago THAT MUCH BETTER!

Amazing photographer!
Working with Heather was one of the best decisions I made in the wedding process. Heather made us feel so comfortable while taking pictures. She is so thoughtful and you can tell she really loves what she is doing. She was always there to answer my millions of questions and give me advice when I needed it. With an unexpected rain storm during an outside cocktail hour and outside family pictures Heather kept me calm and helped me roll with the flow. Heather captured every single part of our day so perfectly and didn't miss out on anything! On top of being such an amazing person Heather's photography skills are impeccable. Flawless photos, a true pro
Heather was an absolute pleasure to work with, and we're blown away by the stunning quality of her photos! All details were spelled out clearly well ahead of time (a planner's dream), and she was calm and friendly even with a tight time schedule and grouchy children -- even got great pics of those kids! Her photography has a truly artistic eye; clean and bright, well-composed. For many family members this will be their first/last formal portraits, and we are so pleased with how they turned out -- will cherish for a long time.

Hiring Heather was the best decision we could have made for our wedding.

Out of all my wedding vendors that I worked with, Heather Ryan Photography was the BEST! Hands down! First off, Heather is beyond personable, calming, and makes you feel like you have known her forever. Not once was I ever concerned or worried about our pictures or Heather’s amazing talent. From day one, Heather made me feel confident that I made the right decision to work with her. Throughout the wedding planning process, she would make me feel relaxed (even when a hurricane was coming straight for us). Heather is truly one of a kind. She is talented beyond belief and her portfolio can definitely speak for that!
After the wedding, I have several guests, my bridal party, and family members comment on how lovely Heather was and how they enjoyed having her part of the day. Some also commented how they liked that she wasn’t up in everyone’s business during the reception, but somehow captured EVERY moment! I received thousands of comments on how beautiful her pictures are and how the lighting is so natural. Amazing photographer who was wonderful to work with
I first worked with Heather when she photographed my best friend's wedding in 2017. I knew then that I wanted her as my wedding photographer as well. She was so friendly and easy to work with. She made a sweltering 90 degree + day in April (!!!) fly by outside and snapped beautiful pictures while all of us were melting in the heat. I loved how orderly she was with the pictures and felt that you could really trust she was capturing the right moments and group shots.
Heather was super responsive to emails and easy to speak with on the phone. I was a bit worried about my fiance (who absolutely despises having his picture taken) - but Heather worked perfectly with him, getting him to relax (a bit at least) and smile/laugh naturally in the photos.
Perhaps the main differentiating factor with Heather, at least from what I've heard from friends, is how quick she was to provide photos from both our engagement session and our actual wedding. We had our engagement photos taken June 9 and they were ready for viewing June 14 - less than ONE WEEK! Our wedding was August 18 and the initial 'preview' (which I think was like 500 pictures) was ready August 23!! I have had friends wait MONTHS for photos.
I have to say that I was in love with essentially every photo. Every person that I've shown my pictures to has commented about the quality, including how she manages to capture natural moments beautifully.
I cannot wait to work with Heather again in the future and would recommend her to any couple.

I couldn't believe how amazing our photos were! Upon receiving them I was so overwhelmed with happiness, as looking though the pictures brought back all the feelings we felt on our wedding day. I truly was nonstop smiling. She did such an amazing job. I also couldn't believe how fast she was able to edit them and give them to us. There are so many great things to say about Heather Ryan Photography, where do I even begin? When we got engaged, Heather Ryan was the first vendor we booked! We met her at a friend’s wedding and fell in love with not only her timeless photography skills but also her fantastic personality. From the first meeting she made us feel so comfortable and she genuinely wanted to capture our day in a way that would be special to us. While posing for photos can be a bit awkward for those of us who are typically less photogenic (myself) she made it fun and stress free. From our engagement session to our wedding day, she truly felt like more of the family and wedding party than just another vendor running around. Even our parents were raving about how great a job she did during the event.
Afterwards, she had photos for us ready in such a timely fashion! She finished a small batch of some of the highlights within about a week, so we had something to look at and share with friends and the rest were finished not long after. I’ve had friends who have waited several months for any of their photos, and with Heather that is simply not the case. The quality of the pictures is phenomenal and she is truly a professional both in skill level and in assurance of a good product. We chose her because she has a classic but natural style. I love the black and white photos personally, but the quality of the color photos is also phenomenal. Her photographs are timeless and capture the essence of the moment.
She is charming and friendly without being overbearing. I would highly recommend her for anyone both for portrait photography as well as weddings! She is above and beyond what you want in a photographer.

Heather did an awesome job both for our wedding and engagement shoot. She had an awesome idea for a particular shot that we ended up using for our save the date and recreating at the wedding. We can’t say enough about how great it was to work with Heather. Not only is she an exceptionally talented photographer, she truly managed our wedding day, keeping us on schedule but allowing us and our guests to enjoy themselves. With only nine guests, Heather captured and made our small DC elopement the special day we hoped it would be. Heather brought her bubbly and professional attitude that kept everyone smiling throughout the day! She was a trooper and trekked with us in the heat to two monuments (and guided us in securing the proper permits). The results were more than we hoped for and we were so pleased to have our day captured with the back drop of the great sights in DC. Most notable about Heather is her ability to put everyone at ease so she can take REALLY great photos. Having never done a professional shoot before, we weren’t sure how comfortable we would be, but Heather helped us be ourselves and captured so many great moments throughout the day. We received our photos super fast, which was a great way to return from our honeymoon and we had a ton of time to get our photos printed and in frames for the holidays. We’ve received so many compliments on our photos and are so grateful that we were able to work with Heather!

We chose Heather as our photographer mainly because the look and feel of her published work matched what we were looking for. After working with her for our August 2017 wedding, we now understand the high level of organization and professionalism it takes to get those great photos! We were very happy with the planning materials and advice we got from Heather leading up to our wedding. It helped both us and her have a clear vision and timeline for how the day would go.
Photography is a big part of the overall wedding budget and after all is said and done, it's what you are left with to remember your day! It put me at ease that Heather took her role in our wedding so seriously. She has a defined process (including a questionnaire about your wedding day details) which ensures that she captures the people and details that are most important to you. (And as a sidenote, Heather LOVES capturing those wedding day details, so book her if you want someone who will get lots of good photos of your shoes, jewelry, decor, and that sort of thing! It is a great way to capture and remember the overall look and feel of the day.)
A great perk of working with Heather was that we got to see a blog post and "preview" containing many photos, very soon after the wedding. Her processing time for the remainder of the photos was fast, too. My other recently married friends were jealous of the number of pictures we received, and how quickly we received them ;-)

We absolutely LOVED working with Heather Ryan. At our initial meeting, her friendliness and confidence quickly put us at ease as she answered all our questions and more. We booked her the next day, opting for the basic package of 6 hours of coverage plus a 1-hour engagement shoot.
We scheduled the e-shoot for a brisk October morning at Patapsco Valley State Park and Heather was thrilled when we asked to bring our dog Atlas along (She LOVES dogs!). That morning, we got there an hour before it opened (oops, they had just gone to off-season hours) so we grabbed coffee nearby. It actually worked out well: We got to know each other better, so we were more comfortable in front of the camera! Despite this delay, Heather didn't rush us one bit. In two weeks, we received more than 200 beautiful photos.
Before the wedding, Heather was always available by email and sent us a questionnaire to make sure we covered all our bases. On our wedding day, Heather arrived early (even before we did) and she was definitely a calming presence. She did an excellent job keeping us on schedule during our First Look photos and our portraits, and got some amazing shots of us with Atlas (our ring bearer!). It started raining after our ceremony so she worked quickly through the family photos to keep everyone as dry (and happy) as possible. During the cocktail hour and reception she captured our guests candidly and was also ready to take group shots whenever anyone pulled her over (this happened a lot with our ridiculous group!). When the sun (FINALLY) came out after dinner she grabbed us to make sure we capitalized on the gorgeous Golden Hour light.
Less than a week later she had already sent us hundreds (!!) of photos as a preview. We can't wait until we get the final delivery in a few more weeks! I can't recommend Heather strongly enough. Her work speaks for itself but she was amazing to work with every step of the way. I can't wait for the chance to hire her again for a portrait session!

WOW. One of the best decisions we made throughout the entire wedding planning process was putting our photography needs in Heather's hands! From start to finish she was a class act - displaying true professionalism and talent. Heather was responsive and made us feel completely comfortable along the way. Can I give more than five stars on all the things? Heather is an absolute sweetheart and such a talent!! We had another photographer booked a year in advance for our June 2016 wedding and found out that January that she was pregnant and due on our wedding date! Eeep! My sisters photographer recommended Heather, who had been a second shooter for a few of her weddings. I contacted her, praying she'd somehow be available and coincidentally, it was the only June date she had open. It was meant to be!
Did I mention we were planning our Delaware wedding from California? Since we couldn't meet with Heather in person, we skyped her to chat about our relationship and our wedding plans. We instantly got along so well! We weren't able to get back to Maryland for an engagement session with her, so we scheduled a pre-wedding session for a few days before the wedding to make sure the day of went smoothly. She made us both feel so comfortable during the session and it felt more like hanging out with an old friend than being photographed!
Our wedding day couldn't have been more perfect and having Heather there to hang out with us and capture all the amazing moments was incredible. Every single photo she took was breathtaking. Heather was amazing! When picking a photographer, my number one criteria was finding someone who I was comfortable with - And Heather exceeded all expectations. She has such a great personality and is easy to work with. As far as her photos go, you can see for yourself that she knows her stuff!!
When booking a photographer, I emailed back and forth with a number of photographers and met with a few in person. As soon as we met with Heather, the search was done.
A tid bit of advice - Get the Engagement Photos! We originally didn't think we needed any - But I'm so thankful we got them with our package. We got to know Heather and kind of prepare for how to pose, and what it's like to be in front of the camera before the Big Day. I loved our photos, and we had fun that day! I ended up using the photos to make a guest book.
On the actual wedding day, I couldn't have asked for a better photographer. I was so nervous before the wedding (along with my entire family and bridal party), but Heather was calm and friendly the whole time. She helped to keep everything on track. I made a list of photos I wanted for Heather (her idea), and no matter how crazy or hectic parts of the day got, she managed to get every single photo I wanted (and more).

Heather is perfection, stop your wedding photographer search right here! There aren't enough superlatives and accolades to describe what an incredible professional she is. Heather has the perfect personality to be a wedding photographer, immediately putting everybody at ease, and making us comfortable in front of the camera (which is actually a feat for us). She's stealthy with her shots, you barely notice she's there during the reception. Most importantly, her pictures turn out amazing! Going into our engagement shoot, our only goals was to not look super awkward in pictures, but when we got the photos back we had a difficult time choosing which photos were the best. We are both normal looking people, but Heather made us look amazing! Because we didn't do a "first look" before the wedding, we had about an hour to get all the group & family pictures in. Heather was able to get everything done efficiently and the pictures turned out perfect! Going with Heather was one of our best wedding decisions and definitely worth the splurge! My only disappointment is that Heather isn't there in my daily life to make me look so much more photogenic.

My husband and I felt so lucky to have stumbled upon Heather's website when searching for a photographer for our engagement photos and wedding in 2016. After viewing the beautiful work posted on her website and blog, Brandon and I knew she was not only talented but also reasonably priced! I could not have been happier with the way Heather made us feel so comfortable during the process and the end result of our photographs were beyond beautiful! In fact, my mom, who has photographed a few weddings herself, has not stopped exclaiming what a wonderful job Heather did on both our engagement shoot and wedding photos! Heather is incredibly personal, willing to work with you, and infectiously joyful, which is an excellent combination in a wedding photographer. She was the photographer for my brother's wedding, and we knew we wanted to have her for ours as well.

I would HIGHLY recommend Heather Ryan Photography. She is detail oriented, organized, and professional. She is very easy to get along with and made my husband and I feel comfortable from the beginning. She shot our both our engagement and wedding photos and we were extremely happy with the results.

We are SO happy we chose Heather to capture our big day. From the initial meeting, to the engagement session, planning before the wedding, emails between, and the big day itself she was fantastic. She was helpful in preparing a list of photos we wanted on the wedding day to maximize our time, and really worked hard to ensure they were all taken. She arrived early to scope out the area, and did a great job of making sure all the details were photographed. She even did some fun spur of the moment whole group shots during the reception that we are so grateful for. Her friendliness, professionalism, and quality of service exceeded our expectations. You can't go wrong with hiring Heather to capture the memories of your day.

My advice for couples looking for a wedding photographer would be to BOOK HEATHER RYAN! Let's face it, wedding photographers are expensive, so you want to make sure you're getting the most for your money and the best quality pictures you can. I was also interested in having two photographers for the big day to get multiple angles of different big events. Heather took care of hiring a second photographer who met her quality standards, and it couldn't have been easier. I also looked at the quality of her photos and wanted to make sure that I could get clear, non-blurry pictures even once the lights went down on the dance floor. Darker dance floor pictures from other photographers I'd seen were blurry or had the dj's neon lights stringing through them. Heather assured me that she had the tools to take excellent and clear pictures even once the lights turned down, and she definitely delivered. The dance floor pics from our wedding are some of the absolute best ones! We also liked Heather's prices, and she offered us several different package options to choose from. (Adding a second photographer was an additional fixed hourly rate, regardless of who she ended up hiring). We ended up choosing a package that included an engagement shoot, even though we weren't planning to. To make it more "our style" we asked Heather if it would be ok to bring our dogs to the shoot and get some "family" shots also, and she wholeheartedly agreed. Despite the fact that we were not really excited about doing the engagement shoot, we ended up LOVING the pictures. Literally just last night, my husband was saying they are by far some of the best pictures of us, and he chose a "family" shot with the dogs to send out with our Christmas cards this year. As a result, we started recommending Heather to our friends even before the wedding, and several have booked her. I could go on and on here, but suffice it to say, when its time to take pics of our kids, I'll be calling Heather Ryan.

Heather was absolutely wonderful. She listened from start to finish and gave us so much helpful advice along the way. We had a lot of large groups and odd combinations, and she wasn't phased a bit!
Heather was easy-going, friendly and sweet--truly the best vendor we worked with on our wedding. And did I mention her photos are beautiful? We just love them. I can't recommend her enough! (Her prices are totally reasonable too.)

We used Heather Ryan Photography for our engagement and wedding photos. Heather was friendly, very easy to work with, and very responsive to emails. She put us at ease throughout the entire process. Her directions were always easy to follow and her suggestions for photos helped us get truly beautiful shots. On our wedding day it absolutely poured rain but Heather showed up right on time despite being a little damp, and adjusted the plan for bridal portraits accordingly with no difficulty. During the ceremony she was unobtrusive and took great photos. She managed to get photos of almost every single person in attendance at the wedding. Heather's photos are a great balance between the classic wedding photos and creative candids. Our photos really tell the story of the day and will be a beautiful collection to revisit in years to come.

Best decision we could have made! Heather Ryan is not only the best photographer I have ever met but, she is also so easy to reach and incredibly friendly. Right from the start she was so easy to communicate with! We were not close in distance so set up a meeting via Skype and my husband and I knew right away we wanted to book her for our big day. We were paying for the wedding ourselves and knew that out of all the vendors, the photographer was one of the most important ones and it just so happened that we found Heather and she is very affordable and fantastic.
The weekend of our wedding there was a huge tropical storm and since our wedding was in OC Maryland, and planned to be outside we had to have a few back up plans but none of this phased Heather for even a minute! She still managed to get absolutely stunning photos of the area we were suppose to get married and then several of the new location. A few of our favorite photos are some where she took us outside into the storm with umbrellas and rain boots!! I can't wait to use Heather again in the future!

Heather did an amazing job as our wedding photographer. She took over 800 pictures and we hardly knew she was there. Great photos of not just the bride and groom but also our guests. Heather is professional and friendly. I have and would continue to recommend her as a photographer.
