I have been a meetings, events and catering manager for over 20 years, so to say that I had high expectations of my second wedding is an understatement. The thing is, I didn’t want to stress about it. I wanted it to be fun, relaxed, beautiful, run smoothly and allow me to be present without running around and doing everything. I didn’t want to be a Bridezilla.
Coming from the industry, I knew that the only way to make something run smoothly is to work with vendors who can be your partners, and you can trust to take your vision and execute it without micromanagement.
Our path to finding Heather Hanson Photography was serendipitous. She was meant to be our photographer. Being in the industry, I had never met her, but after a few conversations about how everything came together, we realized that all the paths were meant to cross. She was able to capture the tenderness and the fun of the day. We are a couple who like to joke and laugh. We didn’t want stuffy formal photos. What we got was a true feeling of being there. You can look through the photos and feel like you are walking through the event. The photos with family and each other are not awkwardly posed and overly airbrushed. They show our family the way it is, which is sometimes imperfect. Heather engaged with the guests and was still able to capture those moments most people didn’t see. Her photos were beautiful, and I am so grateful that she was the photographer to capture our happy day.

Heather is one of a kind AMAZING. Our planned wedding of 300+ guests in May turned into an intimate wedding of just our immediate family in September.
I am a photographer myself and after studying her work, I knew she was a close contender, but once we met her, we both knew she was the ONE!
When it finally came to the big day, she walked into the house and I could see her big smile behind her mask! She instantly felt like a close friend we'd known for years.
Besides her warm personality, her work is just fantastical! She captured every moment we could think of and more! Her design of the fine details like the rings and invitations were so special! We're so thankful she froze our day so we can forever relive it! -

Wonderful Photographer!
We had a wonderful time working with Heather this year and couldn't be happier with how she captured our day! We went with an untraditional, Medieval theme and it was really fun to work with someone who was as excited about our theme is we were. Getting married in 2020 has been an interesting adventure, but Heather was very understanding and flexible when we had to downsize our wedding. We highly recommend her, and are already looking forward to working her again next year for a larger family gathering -

Amazing & talented!!
Heather was the BEST to work with for our engagement photos this September! She drove over an hour to our family farm in Saint Peter to take our pictures. Heather was so professional, she helped us relax in the beginning and captured amazing photos! We received our photos back in a week and I was amazed with her ability to capture the love between my fiancé and I! We are so excited to work with Heather next September 2021 for our wedding pictures. Heather is truly an amazing, fun and spunky photographer...she will be our forever photographer!! Just realized that I never gave a much-needed shoutout to one of the best people on our incredible wedding team, Heather!
From our initial meeting to getting our photos, every step of the process with Heather was a fun, easy, professional, and very positive experience! I definitely recommend doing an engagement session with Heather to get more comfortable in front of the camera, and so you can see the beautiful moments she captures. I never felt like we were forced to do stuffy and uncomfortable poses. It was very important to me to find someone whose work was bright, clean, timeless, and unfiltered. She delivered on all of these aspects and we know our wedding photos will be cherished for decades to come. Thank you Heather for capturing all the big and little moments of our wedding :)

Heather was an absolute pleasure to work with from Day 1! Responsive, straightforward, set expectations and delivered accordingly. As for her work, her branding is on point - off-beat photographer IS Heather! We did a super unconventional wedding at the courthouse, and Heather captured every beautiful moment, with candid, flattering, perfectly composed pictures. If you're NOT into the boring posed "stand in a line and smile" pictures, Heather is the way to go. I'll definitely be booking her again! -

Beyond amazing!
My husband and I were beyond pleased with Heather Hanson's work as our photographer for both our engagement and wedding pictures. She far exceeded our expectations! Where do I begin! Heather blew all my expectations out of the water! She was so interactive when she needed to be, and invisible when she needed to be! From laughing with all of the girls to dealing with the men’s shenanigans, she was all in. I never once had to worry where she was or ask her to do anything, she just knew. I don’t have a single complaint, she is just perfect. So easy communicate with before our big day and during the event. Her passion in her work truly shows, from running to grab us during dinner to make sure we got a sunset picture, to getting to know us and check in throughout the evening, to getting a last minute selfie before she left... just awesome. Heather (photographer) and Bre (videographer) were a package deal and were absolutely amazing to work with. We had received many helpful tips from friends when planning our wedding, and many of them said to make sure we found a really good photographer/videographer. So glad we followed this advice!
On your wedding day, you will spend A LOT of time (more than you realize) with your photographer and videographer so you really want to find someone who is professional but easy to work with. Heather and Bre crushed it! Our day was as close to perfect as one could expect, and these two played such a big role in making that happen. They were fun, funny, easy to work with, personable, flexible and professional.
Before the wedding, they met with us to walk us through the day. Note: we met at a donut shop and a brewery (did I mention they were fun to work with?). They gave us great recommendations on how to shoot in our specific locations and they were sure to ask us if there were any specific shots we wanted to capture, which we did. Their planning and attention to detail made everything so easy.
On our wedding day, they stuck to a tight schedule and got all the shots we wanted. They kept us laughing throughout our photo shoots and captured all the best candid moments of us and our family and friends.
The price was very reasonable, and our package even included engagement photos, which turned out wonderful! My wife and I couldn’t have been happier!
I cannot recommend Heather and Bre enough! We will definitely hire them again for any photography/videography needs.
No need to shop around. Just hire them. You won’t regret it. -
Rachel Sent on 08/12/2018We really enjoyed working with Heather. We met her in advance at our venue so that we could discuss what would work best for the day off our wedding with our ceremony being in a banquet room. She was great with suggestions on what she thought would work best with the lighting inside and where it would be best to have the ceremony. The day of the wedding, she was ready to go and did an amazing job making sure we got all of the shots we wanted (including shots of each table). We wanted to make sure that everyone that was there is in our photos. The only thing we didn't think of was a portrait shot with the rings after the ceremony or a hand on hand shot with our rings. Heather asked for a list of photos we wanted and we were so busy making sure we had all the group shots covered that we forgot the simple things.....shots of us with rings. I only mention that so that others who may also want that make sure to put it on their request list. Heather did an amazing job and she captured all the candid shots we wanted of our guests and our flower girls having a blast on the dance floor! We love our photos and can see everyone having a great time which is what we wanted captured!

We aren’t always the most photogenic couple, but she made us feel super comfortable, and went above and beyond to get some really unique shots. She has a great presence, and made everything feel so natural. She got our photos to us super quickly, and I can honestly say that her fee was some of the best money I’ve ever spent. I highly, highly recommend her! :)

When we’ve showed our photos to our friends and family they’ve often told us that they look like they could be on the front of bridal magazines. They might be a bit biased, but we too, felt like we looked like movie stars. The ones we took directly after our ceremony are some of our favorite and we appreciate you spending some time at the Walker beforehand to find the perfect spots.

Sam Sent on 10/24/2017She was amazing! Really professional, and knew all the tricks to make you look your best! At the time she was 8months pregnant and still crouching in the corn and standing on stalls to get the perfect picture and angle! She met with us multiple times and knew exactly what we wanted, and the pictures turned out great! I would totally recommend her!
