Beautiful ceremony officiated by Hannah!!

From the moment I communicated with Hannah I knew that she was the right fit for us. I had several other officiants reach out to me, but after speaking with Hannah at length I knew she was the one. She really took her time to speak with me on the phone about the ceremony and just small chat which gave me a good feel for her personality. The booking process was easy and she provided several beautifully written ceremonies to choose from; she told us we could write our own or choose parts we liked from templates as well. She offered to guide us through the process and we ended up piecing the parts we liked best together from the templates. Hannah did a wonderful job officiating the ceremony with the ceremony we put together from her templates. Her communication was excellent from the beginning til the end. She was flexible when we changed the time for the ceremony to start. It was also a very cold day for an outdoor wedding and there were no complaints from her. She arrived early and when we started a little later than anticipated due to pictures taking longer, she patiently waited and chatted with family members. She is a very genuine person and created a special and personal experience for us. She was super professional all the way through and has a lovely spirit in general. She hand delivered the marriage license the next day to the register of deeds and we picked it up signed and sealed two days later. You can’t go wrong with Hannah! She’s easy going, kind, professional and simply put, great at what she does!! Thank you so much for being a part of our special day Hannah!! - R + R

Beautiful Ceremony!

We had Hannah officiate our treehouse wedding and she did a wonderful job! A guest even commented on how calm and pleasant her energy was. She personalized the script to us and really took the time to figure out what we wanted our ceremony to be. Great job all around!

Professional yet witty Officiate

We are so thankful to have found Rev. Hannah to officiate our magical ceremony!

As a couple, we wanted a female officiant who was spiritual, accommodating to all beliefs, and also familiar with the hand fasting ceremony. From the start she was easy to connect with and communicated our ceremony options and pricing clearly. We chose the Joyous Union ceremony - it was simple, meaningful and honoring of our families varying religious preference. It also allowed space for personal vows, a special prayer and the hand-fasting we desired.

Overall, it was a joy to work with Hannah and have her as part of our special day! Light-hearted, loving and relaxed, she is a true gem and I highly recommend Heart Light Weddings, if you are looking for an officiant in Asheville. Thank you Hannah!

Rev Tom was the perfect addition to our mountain wedding! He was patient, kind, and extremely flexible. He worked with us to make sure our day was just right. He worked with my husband to create a ceremony that perfectly reflected our families and our marriage. They were an amazing value as well. Many of the other officiants were triple or double the price and from what I have understood from other brides did not come up to scratch with the service that Rev Tom provided. He was so laid back and made our big day that much better! Our ceremony was perfect thanks to him!

Finding Hannah was a blessing! From the first contact, she was very warm and easy to talk to. Since this was a destination wedding, we were not able to meet with her in person prior to the ceremony but she was very responsive to phone calls/emails. She sent us a nice selection of wedding vows and readings to select from but we were free to add or alter whatever we wanted. Due to an unexpected health issue, we had to change our ceremony date at the last minute (literally a few weeks before the wedding). She was very accommodating and even gave us suggestions for a new site to exchange our vows (which turned out to be perfect!) She did a lovely job at the ceremony, has a wonderful, soothing presence, and was thankfully very patient since we had a 30+ minute delay. On a side note, her husband also plays acoustic guitar and his fee is very reasonable. We were going to use his services at our original venue but were not able to due to the last minute venue change. He also took photos during the ceremony as well. I highly recommend Heart Light Weddings if you are looking for an officiant in Western NC.

We had our wedding on short notice and we didn't have much time to prepare so I was pretty stressed out. Rev. Hannah Desmond was very nice on the phone. She was relaxed but very excited to help us make our day special. We couldn’t meet her until our wedding day because we live in a different town. However, we felt very comfortable knowing she was going to be our Officiant. She had such a calm and soothing presence about her that I immediately felt relaxed and reassured that everything would turn out and it did. I couldn't have asked for anything more. It was a beautiful ceremony and it was exactly as we wanted it to be. She was very pleasant and professional throughout. I highly recommend her to anyone who is planning a wedding.

Rev. Hannah Desmond was our Officiant for our wedding and we could not have asked for a more perfect ceremony out of her! From the very beginning, she was understanding of what my husband and I wanted out of our ceremony. She met with us and showed us scripts of what we could use before we even hired her. We planned a simple, intimate wedding at a mountain home and had the wonderful pleasure of including Hannah Desmond as our officiant. Hannah was so easy to work with and made planning-at-a-distance nearly effortless. She was responsive to calls and emails and provided several wonderful script options for our ceremony. When we combined scripts and did a little editing to make it "our own", she received it gladly and did an excellent job of delivering the words and the sentiment during the ceremony. We must also extend a very special thank you to her husband Tom for participating as our musician- the guitar instrumentals lent such a perfect ambiance to the small ceremony and downloading and learning "our song" was above and beyond. I would highly recommend Hannah, Tom and Heart Light Weddings if you are considering getting married in the Asheville, NC area. I wasn't sure I could find someone to come to our location in Marshall, but they were more than willing to do so. It took so much off my mind to know that I could rely on their expertise, caring and attention to detail. Thank you!

Hannah was the perfect officant for our wedding. She was courteous and helpful from the get go and the ceremony choices we had to select from were loving, original and had the exact sentiments we wanted to express to one another. She arrived in plenty of time before the wedding to introduce herself and run through the agenda and even offered to drop off our marriage license! Hannah was wonderful to work with. My hubby and I were very laid back, so I left it up to Hannah to select our ceremony for us. What she chose was lovely and meaningful without being cheesy. We wanted a simple wedding on the day we met which was on Halloween. Hannah was very accommodating from the very beginning. I couldn't have been happier with Rev. Hannah Desmond for my wedding. She did an amazing job as our officiant for our wedding on 10/20/12. I don't normally write reviews unless I'm completely satisfied and she exceeded my expectations to say the least. I STRONGLY recommend her to other brides searching for an officiant. Hannah wrote and delivered a beautiful ceremony. She was also accommodating from our first meeting with her through to the days leading up the event when she agreed to stay in the mountains overnight in order to attend our rehearsal and ceremony the next day. She was also very flexible on the wedding day, delaying her departure by two hours as we waited for the rain to pass before beginning the ceremony. She is a calming presence that my husband and I and our family and friends truly enjoyed have share in our special event.

Hannah performed our handfasting ceremony and it was a wonderful experience. She was more than we could have hoped for. Hannah answered all of our E-mails promptly and with great insight. She was warm and friendly and knew just how to make our ceremony the perfect fit for us.

Not only are the services provided by Heartlight Weddings professional, they are filled with warmth and kindness. How many officiants would welcome you to be married in their homes? Rev. Hannah was fantastic. We had our wedding at a beautiful mountain cabin near Asheville NC. We met with Rev. Hannah and knew she was the perfect minister for our wedding. Her book, The Wedding Journey, helped us plan our wedding without a hitch and provided the perfect wording for the ceremony. Jen and I wrote our own vows. I cried as Jen read her vows to me and so did Rev. Hannah. She was incredibly present during the ceremony. Everyone in our family loved her and we will be keeping in touch. Thanks Rev. I waited years before choosing to marry and I knew that this event would be the event of my lifetime. It was a time of gathering of old and new friends and family. I called Hannah at Heart Light Weddings for a consultation. Hannah took time to consult with me over the phone; she met with me personally and later with my fiance and I together. Her counsel was absolutely beyond what I believe to be the norm. She has written a book about weddings and gave me a copy. Both my fiance and I read it and then met with her together. She (and the book) are awesome. My event was a rather large affair. Hannah performed the ceremony beautifully. It was important to us that we be involved in the writing of our vows and Hannah accommodated us beautifully. So many of my guests commented that they felt her light energy directly to us. I would recommend Hannah to perform any wedding, whether it be a large affair or a quiet, intimate, small affair in your home.

We were twice blessed at our wedding as Rev. Hannah performed a flawless ceremony and Rev. Tom provided the music for the processional and recessional and an original composition during the ring warming ceremony. It was a joy working with Rev. Hannah. We visited with her at her home in Asheville and got to know her. It was like having a good friend perform our ceremony. Her knowledge of the wedding procedures was helpful during the rehearsal and her calm voice helped me overcome the jitters as I prepared for the ceremony. Rev. Hannah lead me through a short breathing exercise that calmed and grounded me. The experience of having her as part of our wedding was a true blessing.

Reverend Tom showed up an hour early and he was there when we were ready to have our ceremony. He also stood out in the rain with us while we said our vows and bared the hurricane with us. It was much appreciated!!

Hanna was a the perfect officient for our New Orleans wedding in the Westin over looking the MS River. We are a non-religious laid back couple and she was exactly the type of officient we were looking for. Her available scripts we could choose from or combine and make our own were absolutely fabulous. We wanted something very elegant but simple and non-religious which is exactly what we were able to put together from her options. Our guests loved the wording of the ceremonly so much that some of them actually asked us for a copy of the wording. We were very pleased with the overall service and would highly recommend her.

We enjoyed having Hannah as our officiant. There was a slight mix up between who would be overseeing our wedding, but it was handled professionally and continued without delay. She answered our questions promptly and helped us with suggestions and advice. We were very pleased with the service that we got and could not ask for anything more.

We appreciated Hannah's style and energy as the celebrant for our wedding ceremony on September 1st. She provided us with a copy of her book, which had several ceremonies to chose from. She also provided us with other ceremonies via email that we could modify to suit our own style and taste. We ended up writing our own ceremony based closely on all of the materials Hannah gave us. Would recommend to others in the future -- and already have!

Hannah was a very sweet, unique lady. I loved the ceremony that she & I came up with. My only complaints pertain to the actual day...it seemed like she hadn't practiced at all, and I guess I ended up feeling like we were just another one of her many weddings. Maybe my expectations were too high.

Hannah was very responsive and communicative from our initial contact all the way up to our wedding day. She provided us with multiple ceremony options, and worked with us to personalize our final choice. Although pleasant, she was very business-focused. Both me and my fiancee's first impression of her was a bit abrupt. As if we were just another couple to check off of her list for the day. In my opinion, her price was a bit steep for the quality of service.

Forgot our names

Well the good news is our paperwork was filed by Hannah and we received our marriage certificate and all is well. However, we were a bit disappointed that when it came time for us to exchange rings during our 10 minute ceremony, Hannah did not know our names, or have them written down. She had to ask each of us what our names were mid-ceremony. We are pretty lighthearted people so we laughed it off and didn't make a huge deal out of it at the time. Then, when the short ceremony was over and she went to announce us as Mr. & Mrs......she did not know our last name and again had to interrupt the ceremony to ask us. We totally understand that mistakes happen and we aren't all bent out of shape about it but for $250 for such a short ceremony I feel knowing our names during the ceremony should be priority #1.

He showed up in a dirty suit and tennis shoes. He carried a notebook and had no bible. He was almost late to the service, I was walking down and he was still in the house. He never prayed, his voice was so soft we could barely hear him so I know my guests couldn't hear what he was saying. We had a handclassping and he tried to tie us while holding his notebook. I had to hold it for him. I wrote our service and I don't know what we would have gotten if I hadn't.

BEWARE! You will think that these people care about you and your ceremony until you send them a non-refundable deposit. Then, they will be unresponsive until you have to ask them to send you the ceremony examples more than once. I don't understand being an officiant and blessing people with your presence on one of the biggest days of a couples' time together and you don't even have the decency to call them, get to know them, or have any input on the ceremony. I don't think you should ask couples to pay you $300 to show up a half an hour before their ceremony and a signature. I'm glad I lost out on fifty dollars and not more. And I'm glad that my fiance and I decided to go a different direction for our day. If you want to pay someone for a signature, just go to a magistrate. It's cheaper.
