Dream Ring Brought to Life!

This review is LONG overdue... BUT sometimes it is hard to put pure magic into words, and the engagement ring/wedding band that the team at Harry Merrill made for me is just that. Not to say that I am a super picky person, but my fiance and I had a really specific vision on what we were looking for in my rings. I wanted something very unique, but would stay classic. As I compiled a list of what I did and did not want in my ring, the team patiently helped me bring it to life. They sketched out a rough drawing of my idea right before my eyes and within a week had a CAD drawing put together so I had a realistic idea of what the end result would look like. When my fiance proposed on Maui in April, I was AMAZED at what they created. It was better than I ever imagined and and I am so excited that I get to flaunt this ring for the rest of my life! THANK YOU!

Fantastic Experience and Magnificent Wedding Band

We were shopping for my wedding band and remembered we had purchased sapphire earrings for my niece years ago from Harry Merrill & Son Jewelers and it was a great experience. I knew what I was looking for in concept and Rob told me he could design what I wanted. He showed me different settings to help me determine the depth of the band. Then we discussed whether the stones would be set east/west or north/south and he explained the different prongs and how the light would reflect on the diamonds. He helped me determine the right stone size that would give the effect I wanted. He worked with us on a price that was affordable and kept in touch with us regarding delivery of the ring as we had a short timeline. The result is a stunning ring that I love and everyone who has seen it has commented on the brilliance of the stones. I could not be happier.

We will be heading back to the store as I have a bracelet with stones that his team will use to create earrings and a necklace that they designed.

Bought my dream ring

I bought a Kirk Kara Carmella ring for myself after the sudden death of my husband. Had the names of my dogs and husband engraved inside along with a paisley engraving on the band. It turned out wonderful. Nicole and Rob were wonderful to work with and went above and beyond to please me. Highly recommend!

Very friendly

I went in with my grandmothers rings to create my wedding band and necklace. They were very friendly, funny and made me feel comfortable, leaving all my jewels with them.

Excellent experience!

We were in Philadelphia for a long weekend and decided to make our engagement official. Harry Merril & Son provided us with an exceptional experience. We found the perfect ring and diamond. They set the diamond, sized my ring, and engraved it with a very short turn around time and sent it insured across the country so that it would arrive by a specific date the following week. We highly recommend them and will give them our business again when the opportunity arises.

Great Quality and Service

We went to Harry Merrill based on online reviews when shopping for an engagement ring and ultimately purchased the ring and both of our custom wedding bands here. We were happy with the selection and thought their prices were fair, they were more than willing to work within our budget and did not try to up-sell us on the engagement ring. I did a custom diamond band to match my engagement ring and my husband went with a custom meteorite ring which took a while to make but he was very happy with the results. Thanks again for a great experience!

Fabulous Flexibility with Fabulous People

My fiance went here last week to look and learn about engagement rings(we've been engaged for a few months and having a wedding date, but he wanted to "seal the deal" with some jewelry). He brought in a document with my likes and dislikes as well as a pinterest board he asked me to create. He went on Friday to talk and learn more about engagement rings and the customer design process, but wound up calling me to ask me to stop by, they showed me a fabulous estate ring(that happened to fall into budget, so though I later learned my fiance had already scoped out with Emma how they might custom design anything I liked to make it fall into budget). We ended up going back on Saturday with my mom. We sold back some old family jewelry the family wasn't going to wear, and buying his wedding ring(along with a customer order for my wedding ring). Everyone at this store was absolutely fabulous, super accommodating, walking us through the process and teaching us about jewelry along the way. We went from " not needing jewelry" to having a family jeweler. They treat you like family and give it to you straight with fair prices and flexibility. Looking forward to continuing the process on my custom wedding band!

Love at First Sight!

With my husband and my ring! I wanted a vintage Edwardian style, and Joe worked with Harry and Merrill to find the perfect ring for me. The diamond is from the 1920s, which makes it so cool and unique. I designed my wedding band here as well with estate diamonds. I just can not thank them enough for giving me something beautiful to remind me of my love and commitment to my amazing husband!

Gave me exactly what I desired in my timeframe! Below is an incorrect date of our wedding! Our wedding date was 5/11/1968!!! We had a third band made to honor surviving 50 years together!

I watched as couples walked up and down jewelers row in Philly today while I was waiting to pick up my lovely wife's 3rd band from Harry Merrill & Sons Jewelers for her wedding ring entourage. She wanted a replica of the other platinum band she presently had to stack with the others. I did not expect it to be ready before Christmas or to be able to engrave in all three rings it last minute. Robert and his team of professionals were eager to help make the dream come true and the piece was STUNNING as expected. If you want to continue to aimlessly putz up and down jewelers row in search of "THE" perfect piece for yourself then keep walking, BUT if you want to get EXACTLY what you are looking for and be able to be rest assured that it is what it really is and not some lesser quality item.....Then stop the madness and go straight to Harry Merrill & Sons and start the process of getting the masterpiece that you have been looking for. If you can't find what you are looking for at Harry Merril's, then you aren't really ready to purchase the perfectly matched piece that you are going to be satisfied with for a lifetime. Harry Merrill will create whatever you can dream of and will masterfully craft it to the highest level of excellence and skill available in the market.

We were looking for a vintage engagement ring for me, and then had both of our bands custom made. We could not have found a better partner than Robert at Harry Merrill. The entire team here is warm and welcoming and they carry the best selection of estate jewelry on Jeweler's Row. My husband's custom made band gets compliments all the time and they listened to exactly what he wanted and brought it to life. So easy to work with.

Harry Merrill was incredible. From the second we choose them to the time of delivery, their ability to design and deliver a wedding room was amazing. I could rave on and on about the friendliness of the staff, quality of the purchase, or guidance in purchasing they were simple the best.

We initially found Harry Merrill on Wedding Wire when starting to browse on Jewelers' Row - it was the first place we went to do some research. We figured we should shop around a bit more, and when I went to another jeweler down the block and found another style that I liked better, I just knew in my gut we had to go back and see Rob and have him make it for us! We appreciated Rob's professionalism, know-how, and also the fact that he put absolutely no pressure on us to purchase or commit to anything.

Rob, Nicole, Emily, and Iris all helped us out at various times throughout the process. (My husband also ordered his ring here.) They made me feel very comfortable about my custom design and made sure it was perfect prior to production. The shop is so professionally run and fun to be in - everyone is incredibly friendly and remembers you, right down to beautifully photographing our rings and using our hashtag to send their best wishes on our wedding day. Their customer service is top notch, even offering to clean my rings when I stop in. There are some people who absolutely make an impression on you during wedding planning and you miss them afterwards - for us, that is everyone at Harry Merrill!

Robert and the whole staff at Harry Merrill and Son were absolutely the best to work with. I purchased my wife’s engagement ring in March 2016. I went into their store not knowing a whole lot about rings or exactly what I was looking for. After speaking with Robert, they were able to help me find the perfect engagement ring without any of the pressure that I figured would accompany a ring purchase. The quality of the diamond is great, the ring is very unique, and she receives many compliments on her ring. My wife and I like them so much that we purchased both of our wedding bands from Harry Merrill and Son as well. They were easy to work with and so willing to answer any of our questions. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking to purchase wedding rings and other fine jewelry in Philadelphia.

My husband purchased my engagement ring at Harry Merrill & Son. They worked with him to make the ring exactly as he imagined and it is so beautiful. The staff at Harry Merrill & Son were there for us from start to finish. They came highly recommended to me by a friend, so much so that I traveled down from NYC to see them. Little did I know they would far exceed their reputation. Robert & Nicole were able to help me navigate through all the different ring options and diamonds to pick the perfect engagement ring. They helped me design something that matched exactly what I was looking for and made me feel comfortable the entire time. I was a novice when it came to jewelry and I really felt like I could trust them from the start. They were transparent and responsive allowing us to orchestrate the final delivery even from two states away!

I loved working with HM&S so much that they were the only choice when it came time to select our wedding rings. This time my Fiancee got to see how truly amazing Robert and his staff are. Iris helped my wife create a beautiful and unique look for her rings while Nicole & Robert made sure I had a ring that I would treasure today and forever. The output was a set of rings that were comfortable, elegant, and timeless. Again they made all the logistics easy which allowed us the peace of mind that we had one less thing to worry about for our wedding.

For a third time, HM&S was there to have our backs. They helped me create a beautiful custom diamond necklace as a wedding present for my wife and worked with her to restore my grandfather's rolex for me. The day of our wedding, we were wearing nothing but Harry Merril jewelry, and we wouldn't have had it any other way. Now we live in Los Angeles and we continue to use them as our jeweler of choice. Being able to work with them from across the country just goes to show how professional, polite, and responsible they are. Everyone wishes that they have a jeweler in their family that they can trust, well I am proud to say that now we have one in ours. There is nothing more I can say other than you have to go and see for yourself!

Nicole and the whole staff at Harry Merrill & Sons made shopping for wedding rings a great experience. We weren't really sure what we wanted and they gave us several options and suggestions. This is seriously the best jewelry store in the world. I spent a full day visiting different shops in Philly's Jewerly's row. One thing I was trying to pick up was if the store owner was 1) just looking to make a sale and 2) made me feel less than as a person of color. Rob stood out for his professionalism and patience from the moment I met him. He sat me down, explained all the fundamentals of engagement rings and really wanted to get to know me and my fiance to provide the best level of service that he could.
I ended up wanting to custom design an engagement ring to be able to combine a few of the things that my fiance liked. Rob was super timely in getting me a rendering of the ring and then worked with me to get the ring to be exactly right while being within my budget. Over the remaining months, Rob was super understanding of my financial situation as a graduate student and worked with me to be able to secure the ring I was proud of and knew my fiance would love. I also got to know the entire staff at HM&S and they all are so caring not only about their industry and craft but each of the clients and people they interact with. I've already referred friends to HM&S and I know that they will continue to provide great service to any and everyone who goes there to work with them.
We had such a good experience that we also gout our wedding bands from HM&S. Rob worked with my wife to make sure that the wedding band complemented her engagement ring. My wedding band is black titanium and it looks very sleek and I get many compliments on it.
I can't heap enough praise on this small family business. It's the little things like a hand written note congratulating us on our wedding, resizing the engagement ring and inscribing the inside for no extra charge, and the quick responses to inquiries that also make them stand out. You won't go wrong by choosing Harry Merrill and Son!

I'm a researcher in nature, and between working three jobs, I have little time to browse at several stores for THE RING. So, I searched the internet and came across quite a lovely collections of unique rings at Harry Merrill & Son, Inc. After looking at several other websites of other local jewelers, I kept coming back to Harry Merrill & Son's website to an estate ring I found absolutely perfect for me! I sent a picture to my then boyfriend at that time of the ring to make things easier for him whenever that time came he wanted to pop the question. He is not one to be comfortable about going into a jewelry store, but the team here made him feel right at home right from the beginning. He popped the question on Valentine's Day in 2015! I loved my estate engagement ring so much that we decided to get both of our wedding bands here, too! Our rings were engraved with love and we cannot thank them enough! We recommend them to anyone and hope to come here for many more years to come to celebrate joyous occasions.

My husband got my engagement ring here and loved the experience so it was a no-brainer to get our wedding rings here too. The staff was relaxed and they are not pushy at all. They answer your questions knowledgeably but do not pressure you or oversell. We had some pretty vague ideas about what we wanted but with their guidance we chose gorgeous bands that we LOVE. They had our rings steamed and ready to go the day before the wedding and I never worried for a minute. The value is exceptional, too.

My fiance just purchased my engagement ring at Harry Merrill & Son and it is absolutely stunning! Prior to the proposal, we viewed different styles at Harry Merrill and Robert helped us tremendously. I both got my fiance's grandmothers antique ring resized here (for my right hand) and custom designed my engagement ring here. I cannot say enough how much I enjoyed working with the staff at Harry Merrill. I fully intended on "shopping around" but fell in love with the place and didn't feel the need to go anywhere else! They restored my estate antique ring to "like new" in addition to resizing it and even had it ready in time for my upcoming trip to visit my fiance. It looks gorgeous! I had a general idea what I wanted for my engagement ring but was having trouble finding something. The staff (including Robert) sat with me for an hour and showed me several different center diamonds to choose from, worked with me to design my dream ring and never made me feel pressured or uncomfortable. It was a wonderful experience and I can't wait to get my ring next week!

I bought my fiance's estate engagement ring at Harry Merrill & Son, and I couldn't be happier about it. I first saw the ring on their website, which was easy to navigate and the photos were wonderful, and I could tell right then that it was right up her alley. But since I am a super nervous person, I made her go down to the store and look at it, and try it on. We loved Nicole - she was personable and sweet, and really informative. And she didn't bat an eye that we were two women shopping for engagement rings. Which I can't say didn't cross my mind. I came back a month later alone to purchase the ring, and Rob let me store it in the safe for a few months before I was ready to propose. Everything went seamlessly, and we only have great things to say!

I'd recommend Harry Merrill to absolutely anyone who asked me about purchasing an estate ring.

Robert confirmed our research that Estate rings are a fine option when considering environmental and social impact of your ring. Harry Merrill & Sons has an amazing selection of estate rings. Robert was super knowledgeable, friendly, funny, really putting us both at ease. It was actually hard to pick because there was such a fine selection of rings we liked. The ring's engraving came out great and it only took a week. We had it shipped, and they handled the process seemlessly. I had no problem at all with receiving it. I really can't say enough good things about the experience. I would recommend them to anybody, whether they are looking for an estate ring or something else.

I just wanted to say how impressed I am with my engagement ring from Harry Merrill & Son Jewelers. They finished my custom ring within two weeks so that the timing of the proposal could be perfect! It's a beautiful custom peach sapphire with diamond halo in rose gold. They were even able to incorporate my grandmothers diamonds on the sides and added custom engraving done by hand! Everyone tells me it's the most beautiful ring they've ever seen. Amazing. Amazing. My fiance purchased an engagement ring from a big name jeweler. They completely took advantage of his little knowledge of the diamond field. Robert helped us out and made sure we got the ring that we wanted. He then made custom bands to fit my engagement ring using diamonds I already had a colored stones that I wanted. I had about 5 different ideas floating in my head and he was able to nail down exactly what I wanted. He made sure they were exactly what I wanted and even said "If you end up hating it I will re-do it completely free of charge". Amazing. Of course I ended up loving them. I cannot wait to go back and have them do all of my future jewelry purchases. Robert and his the rest of the staff are knowledgable, friendly, and make you feel extremely comfortable. I wouldn't go anywhere else - even for just a cleaning.

I registered for Wedding Wire just to write this review. I received the most excellent service from Robert and Iris in helping me find the perfect engagement ring. After an exhausting search that didn't even yield me an online photo of the style and feel I was even going for, I came across Harry Merrill & Son. I was looking for the best combination possible of antique and timeless, understated and glamorous. I didn't even know if that made sense. After a call with Iris and an appointment with Robert, I had four perfect rings to choose from. They taught me about diamonds, worked with my budget, and helped me find the absolute perfect ring. I can't state enough how easy and fun they made this process for me. I will be returning to find wedding bands in the near future. I know the fact I rated them 5 out of 5 can sometimes make it hard to believe but this jeweler deserves the rating.

My fiancé ended up buying my engagement ring from Kay's. They don't offer appraisals at Kay's. For insurance reasons I went to Merrill jewelers down town to get an appraisal.

I emailed ahead of time that I was short on time but wanted to get an appraisal of my ring. They said since I told them ahead that I was coming they could get it done quickly. Took about an hour.

The thing that blew me away was when he was inspecting my tanzanite ring in front of me he heard that my center stone was loose. He had them tighten the setting at no extra cost to me! He was extremely nice and friendly throughout.

I do plan on coming back to buy our wedding bands from them. I am so impressed with their selection of rings and how the jewelry store is run!

I totally recommend them!

My husband and I picked out and ordered my engagement ring from Harry Merrill over the internet. Nicole listened to what I was interested in, and picked rings from their selection. She sent me numerous pictures, helped me talk out what I was interested in, and worked with my husband to surprise me once the ring was actually purchased and shipped. The customer service is flawless, and she (in particular) was meticulous in making sure that every detail was covered, down to tracking the ring to make sure it arrived where it was supposed to (and on time).

I sent Nicole a picture of what I wanted my wedding band to look like, and shipped my engagement ring back to have the wedding band custom made to fit around the engagement ring. The service was great, she sent me a rendering of what the ring would look like, and it was absolutely beautiful. I could not be more pleased. She also had an antique ring that was a gift from my grandmother resized and epoxied to ensure that the pearl would stay in place.

My husband and I could not be more pleased with the service we received. Nicole is truly outstanding (she deserves a raise!) and the quality of every piece of jewelry I've purchased here is outstanding. Though I'm in Pittsburgh and they're in Philly, I will always look to Harry Merrill for any piece of jewelry that I need to purchase in the future.

These people are AMAZING. We were referred by a co-worker of mine who could not have nicer things to say about these people. Everyone we encountered was very attentive and helped us through the process of picking out wedding bands. We came in with some idea of what we were looking for and they helped us narrow down to what we really wanted. We could not be more please with what we chose and those who helped us. My fiance bought the setting for my engagement ring here and they couldn't be more helpful. They did an amazing job setting the ring and working with the ring designer. We even traveled from our home state to order our wedding rings from Harry Merrill & Son because they have the best prices, are the most responsive, and are trustworthy. I had searched online for a long time trying to find my perfect engagement ring when I ran across the Kirk Kara Charlotte set at Harry Merrill and Son. I had hinted to my boyfriend about the ring and on our third year anniversary he surprised me by getting down on one knee and asking me to be his wife with the exact ring I wanted. I was so surprised that the ring looked even more beautiful in person. The team at Harry Merrill are amazing!!! They designed both my engagement and coordinating band which are absolutely beautiful. The rings look like vintage, family heirloom pieces. Everyone is so nice to work with, patient, calming, flexible...

From the minute we walked into Harry Merrill & Son my husband and I felt extremely welcome. I had really wanted to check out Jeweler's Row for our wedding bands and I just kept coming across their name. You can really tell that they value their customer's business! My husband picked out a simple polished white gold band and I decided on a delicate eternity band that had an art deco feel to it which is not something I could find in any other store! We were even entertained by the stories they told us about how they had watched the filmimg of Silver Linings Playbook from their store and how you can see it in the film which we both thought was really cool! We felt like a priority which is not something we felt in any of the chain stores we visited! We were there for awhile and the store was getting ready to close and they never even tried to rush us along they made sure we picked the best rings for us! When it comes to such a huge purchase as your wedding bands I think this quaint little family owned store is the way to go. The individual service you receive is extremely refreshing! :)

I know you may be looking at these reviews and are skeptical about the 5/5 rating for every category, but believe me when I say that they deserve all the accolades they are receiving. My fiancee had found her favorite ring at Bailey Banks and Biddle, but I am only a med student so there was no way that I would have been able to afford a ring from there.
So, I had taken pics of the ring she wanted and showed it to Rob and we ended up finding a custom-made ring that matched most of the characteristics of her favorite BBB ring. Then, we made some adjustments so it could be perfect - more detailed and personalized than the BBB ring! And, to top it off, all of the customization and flexibility with payment and pricing, it turned out to be cheaper than the BBB ring. She loved the ring and we definitely look forward to doing business with them in the future!

Harry Merrill & Son have provided us with exceptional service for both our engagement rings and wedding bands. We both had custom engagement rings made for each other, and Robert and Nicole did a great job listening to what we wanted, and working with us until the design was perfect. Size alterations, engraving and sizing are all free, they truly want to make sure you are 100% happy with their work. They are very competitively priced compared to other stores, Robert was incredibly helpful picking out the perfect diamonds that fit our budgets, and we both get compliments on the design and sparkle of our rings on a regular basis.

In addition to the quality of the work, Robert, Nicole and Iris make you feel like longtime friends every time you're there. This is a wonderful family business that gives you a personal experience that you won't get at the big commercial stores. We would highly recommend them to anyone looking for engagement rings, wedding bands, or any kind of jewelry- they are able to do it all!

I turned 40 this March and my husband had my original engagement ring reset into a gorgeous, one of a kind setting. The professionalism and flexibility was fantastic at Harry Merrill's!! Walking down Jewelers Row, all the window displays looked the same. I wanted a unique engagement ring, something distinctive with personality. When I saw Harry Merrill's window display I wanted to buy every piece I saw! After talking with Rob, we decided to proceed with a customized engagement ring - rose gold with white and chocolate diamonds on a eternity band, with a smokey topaz center. I loved my ring so much that I customized my wedding band too. Rob and Nicole gave us such individualized service, paying close attention to our wants and concerns. This jeweler has been in business since 1954. It was very clear from the second that I walked in the door that customer satisfaction is their number 1 priority. I found a beautiful estate antique wedding band that was beautiful, but in white gold and I wanted rose gold. They offered to custom make the ring. The first version of the ring I didn't like, so they remade it again and then again a third time. At the time this was happening I was pretty stressed about it not being perfect on the first shot. But, Robert and Nicole were determined to make the ring exactly how I wanted it. Their prices are very reasonable and if they quote you a price they stick with it.

I also had them repair my great grandmother's antique engagement ring. It came back looking spectacular.

This will be my jeweler for the rest of my time in Philadelphia.

I found the engagement ring of my dreams at Harry Merrill! I knew I wanted something unusual. I definitely didn't want the usual solitaire or three stones in a row like most of my friends have. I am obsessed with flowers, and one day as I was strolling around in Philly, I saw the most FABULOUS flower ring! It has a sapphire in the center and two rows of diamonds around it. It is an estate piece made around 1950, and I am also obsessed with vintage fashion, so that made it even cooler. Best of all, it was such a reasonable price that my fiance didn't even have to put it on a credit card or anything- he was able to just pay for it out of pocket to avoid interest. I needed it sized down, and they did it very professionally and in a short amount of time. I will definitely get my and my fiance's wedding bands there without a doubt.

Dealing with Rob and Nicole was amazing. We walked in one day looking for a very personalized experience to design a ring and they were flawless ... after getting our general style from a display of rings, they helped us create our one of a kind engagement ring. They never pressured, they were always responsive, and stuck to their price right from the bat. Education was first on their brain about the diamond we were bringing to the design and we went back and forth with the drawings a few times to get it perfect - ALWAYS professional and never too many questions. Price was very fair for what we shopped around for and even better was the fact that they wanted to know what we wanted rather than just sell us something in the store. Cannot recommend them enough and we are incredibly thankful to have this story as part of ours. Will also say - they were very forward thinking with LGBTQ weddings, inter-faith weddings, and since there are many ways to do this and we found that very important when shopping for part of our story!

We were sent to the Merrill crew by my trusted boss for work on my antique family heirloom soon to be engagement ring. We felt at east immediately when putting this big job in their hands. After the great personal service and product we decided to also return to have them create our wedding bands and earrings for the wedding. These guys are fantastic! They will go out of their way to give you the best quality possible in the timing that you are able to work with. I will not go to any other jeweler in the area now, especially with the many uncertainties the other jewelers bring to the table in the neighborhood.
