One-of-a-kind desserts!

Gwen came recommended through our venue and other recommendations. Gwen was so easy to work with and reasonably priced! She had so many different options for our dessert display to choose from at our wedding! She allowed us to do a tasting before we booked. Gwen created a one-of-a-kind cookie cake for us, as we didn’t want a traditiona wedding cake! It was amazing and exactly what we pictured! Gwen also created custom mini cookie stacks to match the cookie cake—they were adorable and delicious! The guests especially liked the filled cupcakes and the brownies! Everything was way larger than expected! She did a beautiful job setting up our dessert display!

Gorgeous and Delicious!

Gwen was an easy choice given our family has used her for birthday/baby showers in the past. Her cakes not only looked amazing but tasted incredible. Our wedding cake was both Bavarian Strawberry creme and Raspberry filling depending on the tier. The cake tasting was hard to narrow down because she has some excellent choices. Gwen was already familiar with our venue and made the entire process very simple.

The Best Cake Ever

Gwen was super nice and very responsive. She has so many flavors it was hard to choose which ones! She was also very flexible with us when it came to the final payment. We were a couple days late in giving it to her (as we were out of the state) and she was totally accepting of that. I heard nothing but compliments on the cake and it was all gone by the end of the night!

So delicious!

Gwen made our wedding cake and it turned out so perfect!! We chose to do several different flavors and they all turned out phenomenal. The strawberry and chocolate caramel were our favorites! We would definitely go to Gwen for future party cake needs!

Wonderful to work with!

Gwen was great from start to finish! Quality cakes and fabulous decorating - my daughter's cake looked beautiful!! She was also great when we had to move the date multiple times due to Covid... Highly recommend!!

Delicious, Affordable, and Beautiful!

Gwen made our wedding cake so delicious! We had three tiers plus a sheet cake that were all different flavors - White cake with bordelaise and strawberry, apple spice with salted caramel filling, chocolate with baileys butter cream, and red velvet with cream cheese filling. Every flavor was great and we got so many compliments! I planned our wedding virtually from Florida and wasn't able to do a tasting before picking the flavors but she let me try the cakes two days before the wedding when I got into town just so I could have that moment. The cake was delivered on time and she placed the topper and wood flowers, it looked beautiful!

The cake was absolutely gorgeous and delicious!

Gwen delivered a beautiful gluten-free cake that our guests could not even tell was gluten-free! She is an immensely talented baker and I will definitely be going to here for future cakes/cupcakes/desserts. Gwen is extremely professional and was warm in all our interactions, she also responded very quickly to emails.

I would highly, highly recommend Gwen!

Delicious and great price!

Gwen was awesome to work with! The quality of her cakes is absolutely amazing and well worth the amazing price she gives you! I am not a cake person and I absolutely LOVED our wedding cake. It was delicious! Could not recommend her enough!

Best cake ever!

Gwen was great to work with! We had a tasting at the time we booked her and everything she made was delicious! We postponed our 2020 wedding to 2021 and she was very flexible with us changing our date. She baked our cake for our wedding last month and it was honestly the best cake I’ve ever had!

Delicious cake/cupcakes!

Gwen was very professional and easy to work with. We decided to do a small cake for the cake-cutting in addition to a cupcake tower for the guests. Our guests loved being able to select their cupcake flavor from the tower and we received so many comments about how great they tasted. Thank you, Gwen!

Beautiful design and amazing taste!

Gwen's cakes are a perfect mix of light and sweet! She has a wide variety of cake flavors and fillings to chose from. We opted for the white cake with Bavarian creme/fresh strawberry filling, apple spice cake with salted carmel filling, and apple spice cake with French apple filling. Each was outstanding, and I wish I had the opportunity to have more of the cake that day! The design of the cake was also stunning and exactly what we wanted. I highly recommend her.

Great cake!

We went with Gwen for our wedding cake and she was great to work with. We got a lot of compliments on how good it was from our guests as well! Highly recommend service, quality and reasonable prices!

Delicious cakes and professional

Gwen baked an incredible wedding cake for us. We head for different flavors: chocolate cake with salted caramel filling, vanilla cake with berry filling, lemon cake with lemon filling, and red velvet. I couldn't get enough of her delicious flavors! She really worked with our vision she was well within our budget. I would recommend her for all your cake needs.

Best Cake Eer!

For my graduation party, Gwen made a two-tier cake, one layer white almond with raspberry filling, and the other red velvet with cream cheese frosting. In addition, we had two Costco cakes, one vanilla and one chocolate, but no one would touch them after tasting Gwen’s cake. It was breathtakingly beautiful and also delicious—a rarity among cakes these days. I would highly recommend Gwen’s Cake Decorating service to anyone in need of a beautiful and tasty masterpiece!

100% amazing cake, at the tasting and reception

We almost overdosed on different cakes with other vendors and nearly decided to call it quits without seeing Gwen. Boy, are we glad we tried hers! Her cakes are absolutely incredible. From our first bites, we knew that we wanted her as our baker. And we are super pleased to report that the cakes we got at our wedding were just as good as the ones we taste-tested! Our guests were extremely complimentary, with one even going back to try every flavor we had (even the gluten-free cake). And Gwen was a pleasure to work with, from the initial design consultation to laying out the delivery timeline. She even placed our home-made sailboat centerpiece perfectly. We couldn’t be more happy.

Gwen was great. She got us in for a tasting and we knew exactly what we wanted. The whole thing took maybe 15 minutes. The cakenitself turned out beautiful! Exactly what we had asked for. It was all white with gum paste flowers along one side. I hope my photographer took some photos! Cake tasted great too!

Gwen is a master baker! She is very professional, responsive, and listened to our ideas to ensure we had the wedding cake of our dreams. Not to mention, her cakes are absolutely delicious- we had a white cake with a strawberries/bavarian cream filling and buttercream icing. Wow! Gwen out did herself yet again. Gwen is always a professional. Not only are her cakes beautiful but they are heavenly and so affordable. Thank goodness this is my last wedding but I know there will be many more special occasions in my future and Gwen's will always be my go to for cakes. Of all the vendors for the wedding she and one other needed zero direction from me on the day of the wedding, adding zero extra stress. She shows up does her job and leaves behind a lovely tasty masterpiece. Thanks so much for making Cailtin's and Jacob's Wedding so special.

Gwen did a wonderful job with our wedding cake. It looked and tasted fantastic! Gwen was a pleasure to work with, and the binders with pictures of her past work helped us decide what we wanted our cake to look like since we had no idea what we wanted going into it. The cake tasting we had sealed the deal, we knew we wanted to use her for our wedding once we sampled a couple bites. Her prices were competitive and she works in a professional manner. She coordinated drop off times with our florist since there were fresh flowers on our cake, and she was on time for delivery. We would definitely recommend her to others.

Gwen was SUCH a pro. When we first reached out, she was lovely and scheduled a time for us to come by and try some of her tasty cakes. They were extremely scrumptious, and she helped us develop a design that worked for us. I got married at the University of Michigan League, and since Gwen was familiar with the venue, she handled everything. I didn't even see her the day-of, she just set up the cake with no supervision! It was fabulous. She was one of the most self-sufficient vendors I worked with, which was so helpful. I cannot recommend the quality of Gwen's cakes or service enough -- especially at such a reasonable price!

Gwen was great! She met us at our her home for the testing and even showed us her industrial kitchen. The cake looked just like the picture I gave her. She didn't have any hidden fees and didn't charge for delivery. She was great and did a great job!

I can't say enough good things about Gwen and the wedding cakes she made for us! We decided to get 7 single layer cakes, 5 of which were different flavors. Unfortunately my husband and I did not get a chance to try all of the flavors since it was a hectic day, but from what I heard from my guests they were delicious! The Confetti cake with Strawberry Creme filling was a crowd favorite and I especially loved the White Almond with Fresh Strawberries and Bavarian Creme cake. The cakes turned out exactly as I had imagined and described to Gwen, she added flowers on top from our florist and they were beautiful! I would definitely recommend Gwen's to anyone looking for wedding cakes or any other event for that matter.

Beautiful cake that didn't break the budget. I showed Gwen a picture of a cake that I liked, but told her to make her own version of it. It turned out beautifully, and was exactly what I wanted.
And all three tears had a different flavor-- I personally recommend the strawberry cream filling! Delicious. Thank you Gwen!

Gwen is awesome! Not only are her cakes REALLY good, but she is also affordable. She even let us have two flavors without charging extra (unlike other vendors). I was so pleased working with her for our wedding that I also used her for my husband's birthday cake. I would HIGHLY recommend.

We were so pleased with Gwen she is very professional and her cakes are so beautiful. When we arrived to our venue our cakes was already there displayed and it was gorgeous. Gwen's cupcakes were delicious, eye-catching, and super affordable! The cupcakes are jumbo sized, so one cupcake is more than enough for one person (though, I admit, I did have two!) The options for fillings in the cupcakes was a nice addition. She's officially my go-to gal!

If I could eat Gwen's cakes everyday, I would! Upon meeting her at our tasting, we were in awe of her talent and tastiness of her cakes! Needless to say, we left our tasting stuffed and satisfied that we selected the best baker in town! Our guests would also agree, as there was not a cupcake left in sight at the end of our wedding night!

Our experience with Gwen was wonderful! We had a couple of tastings, which she was very willing to accommodate. I (the bride!) and my mother, and several guests, have sever allergies to gluten and other ingredients. Gwen was wonderful to help us choose flavors that were safe. She provided us with a beautiful tiered wedding cake, all gluten free, for a really fantastic price! She has the best tasting cakes for the best price around. Very happy with her as our cake baker/decorator!

We had a 4 layer cake made for our wedding and each layer was a different flavor with different filling! It was so cool that she could do that, and the Bailey's filling really tasted just like Bailey's- no idea how she pulled that off! Gwen delivered our cake to our venue right on time and made everything worry free. We will absolutely go back to her for cakes or cupcakes for events in the future. She even loaned us a beautiful victorian style cake stand for the wedding as well. We returned it to her a week after the wedding.

The cake was moist and delicious and everyone complimented the different flavors. I had some left over that I gave to my mom to bring to work with her and I guess she never brought it into work, her and my dad ate it all cause they thought it was so good- too good to share apparently! Her prices are very reasonable as well.

Gwen's Cakes was absolutely fantastic for my wedding. She was incredibly flexible with my limited schedule. Her tasting area was incredibly clean and every single cake flavor was moist and delicious! My husband's favorite thing is a Boston Creme Pie and she was able to recreate those flavors in our wedding cake.

Gwen did such a great job on our cupcakes for our wedding! They were delicious, and everything was done exactly the way we wanted. She even let us try extra flavors (my husband and I are slightly indecisive...) to help us narrow down what we wanted. You won't be disappointed if you choose Gwen for your wedding cake or cupcakes!

We used her for our wedding and we couldn't have been more satisfied. Cupcakes were the best we have ever had. We had people compliment us on how good they were all night! The setup she even did was beautiful.... wish I had my wedding pictures to attach a photo of it. I would most defiantly recommend Gwen's cupcakes to everyone. I had to drive 50 minutes one way to see her but totally worth the drive. I will be using her for all my parties!!

I highly recommend Gwen's cakes! Gwen was fantastic, from the cake tasting to the final product. Gwen created and designed a cake that met both of our wants, which is saying something, since we had opposing ideas for the cake! And it was not only beautiful, but delicious, too! Additionally, Gwen's value cannot be beaten! The only thing I regret is not getting more than one piece of cake at our reception because we were so busy! Thank you, Gwen!

Very good value and delicious cake. All the guests loved the cake. The cake was beautifully decorated and exactly like we had wanted it. Working with Gwen was an absolute pleasure. Highly recommend! Skip the gluten free option as that was not very good!

Our cake was beautiful, professionally done, and tasted great! Gwen accomodated our busy schedules and set up a tasting for us without much notice. I didn't have to worry about anything after our first and only meeting - she draws a detailed sketch of what you want your cake to look like, which flavors/icings/fillings for each layer and delivers exactly what she promises. I'd recommend this vendor to anyone in the Ann Arbor area.

Gwen made a cupcake tower for my wedding and it was simply stunning! In 200 cupcakes we had a choice of 5 flavors, I'm still getting compliments as to how great they were! Very easy to get ahold of and to work with, I would recommend Gwen to anyone!

Gwen was fantastic from the very beginning: from the initial meeting we had, to working with us on the exact cake design and flavors for the big day, execution on the day of, and even provided a delicious 1 year anniversary cake as part of the package. We were very pleased with the wedding cake and delighted with the anniversary cake. I'm not usually a cake person but Gwen's cakes are amazing - the cake itself is the right balance between having substance and fluff, the cream is light and not too sweet, and the filling options I tried were yummy. She will be the first person I call if I ever need a cake in the AA area.

My husband's parents celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on August 1, 2013 in Saline, Michigan. We live in Texas; therefore, I had to make arrangements through email for this event. Gwen's cakes taste great! Everyone commented on the flavors and fillings! We choose a very simple design and Gwen made it look very elegant on the cake stand that she loaned to us. My only complaint is that I didn't have the catering staff save us one slice of each flavor and the only piece I got to eat was the piece when we cut the cake!

Gwen was amazing to work with, the cake and cupcakes turned out so pretty and tasted amazing. My experience with Gwen was wonderful. My husband and I visited her twice for tasting and finalizing designs and both times were extremely efficient and productive. Her cakes were delicious and moist. Her prices are SO SO reasonable especially for the quality and quantity that you will receive. Our wedding cake turned out exactly as I had envisioned it and we got many compliments on how delicious the cake was. She also provides a complementary one year anniversary cake if you contact her around your anniversary date! Nice touch! I can't wait to have her cake again! It was a great experience.

If I could give Gwen a 10/10, that may begin to approach my satisfaction with her services. Finding Gwen made me feel like the luckiest bride in the world, and looking at the pictures months later I'm still amazed at the results.

The Ann Arbor area has a tradition of great food. Also, my grandmother used to make wedding cakes for a living, so I my expectations for the cake were high. Our wedding cake was absolutely beautiful. It felt like it represented our event perfectly, and most importantly, it was the best cake I have ever tasted (sorry Grandma!). The frosting melted in my mouth without being too sweet, and we had the freedom to customize the flavor of each layer so everyone got their favorite combination. It was everyone's favorite cake. It was also very reasonably priced.

Gwen's professionalism, her patience, her obvious joy with what she does, her willingness to make us part of the process, and her attention to detail made all of the cake related duties my favorite part of wedding planning, which, if you're a cake lover, is as it should be!

Gwen did an awesome job on our cake. She was very accomidating to meet us on a weekend and helped us narrow down our decision. She also did our rehearsal dinner cake. We got many compliments from our guests. Instead of freezing your top tier for your one year anniversary she makes you a fresh one, thus allowing for full use of the entire cake at the reception (saving money) and real enjoyment of a fresh cake on your anniversary.

Our wedding cake was everything that we had hoped and imagined it would be. We took a picture of a cake in to Gwen, and she recreated it beautifully. Not only was it gorgeous, but it was delicious as well! It was so moist, and the filling was so tasty. Everyone was talking about how good the cake was. We loved, loved, loved Gwen's cake! It was so tasty and it looked beautiful. Our venue actually had a cake place that would have been included in our package, but we didn't love the cake at the tasting, so we decided to look around. We found Gwen's name on the Knot and called to set up a tasting. If you're in doubt, call to set up a tasting - it's so worth it! We had many compliments all night about how good the cake was. (We went with the chocolate cake with chocolate filling and also the white cake with raspberry glaze - so good!)

Gwen works out of her house, so meetings are very personal and friendly. We had a complicated idea, so it took a little bit for her to understand quite what we wanted, but it ended up working very well. YUM! Gwen makes amazing wedding cakes and is super easy to work with. We had three different flavors, and nobody could choose a favorite! Gwen provided the services as promised and was very flexible with our schedule. We changed our initial meeting date at least once. Then I changed our delivery time for the day of the wedding 3 or 4 times (as it neared the date things got crazy!), and she was willing to accommodate whatever we needed, and arrived in the window we had asked. During our original consultation, she was very helpful in selecting and suggesting something to our liking. We were able to come up with a wonderful combination of flavors and decorations, and tasted some great flavors in the meantime!

When the cake arrived the day of the wedding it was perfect! It was not only elegant and beautiful, but absolutely wonderful in taste! We received many compliments raving about how wonderful the cake was! In fact, I have already provided Gwen's information to a close family friend that really enjoyed the cake so much she wanted her information for a future event of her own.

This was the best cake we had ever tasted and was the best value! Only 2.50 a slice! Not only did they taste great, but our cake was beautiful! It was better than I could have hoped for. People were asking us all night long who had made the cake because it was so yummy! Plus, my husband and i aren't the type of people who save the top and freeze it for a year, and what makes this great is that she gives you a free 1st anniversary cake.

Wedding Cake

Gwen is awesome and highly recommend her services. Her cake tastes amazing and so much so we couldn’t stop eating it for days. We had lots of leftovers more than we anticipated but we weren’t mad bc we were able to eat some amazing cake LOL we chose strawberry with Belgium cream frosting

Working with Gwen, I got a beautiful and delicious wedding cake. We were able to do a taste testing with were we found the exact flavors that we were looking for. She was willing to create a cake from a photo that I brought in. It turned out fairly close to what I was looking for with only minor differences.

Gwen's Cake Decorating was amazing. We were in a pinch when 2 weeks before our wedding, our wedding cake that was going to be made by a family member fell through. We were just having a simple 6 inch buttercream wedding cake to decorate with flowers for the cake-cutting ceremony. After calling multiple places that were unable to accommodate this request due to the short notice and being completely booked, Gwen was able to make it happen! She was so great to work with, and you can't beat the price. Beyond this, she did an amazing job with the cake. For such a simple cake, it was perfect! The buttercream frosting was decorated beautifully, and the flavor was PHENOMENAL. My husband and I were planning our wedding from afar, so when our original cake fell through it was too late to do any cake tasting, but Gwen's recommendation did not disappoint! We got the white cake with strawberry cream filling, and it was so good that I can't wait to have it again someday!

Gwen's cakes for our wedding were delicious and beautiful. The design of the small, two-tier cake for cutting wasn't exactly what we discussed, yet it was still beautiful, and I think I liked it better than what I was imagining. I would recommend follow up closer to the wedding date if you have a specific image in mind.

The value of Gwen's cakes is unbeatable. The tasting we did with her was generous. And did I mention delicious? I'm still enjoying our leftover cake 5 days later. Like another review mentioned, she provides a complimentary one year anniversary cake. My husband and I are already looking forward to celebrating our anniversary with Gwen's cake!

Gwen's cakes are DELICIOUS, there is absolutely no denying that, her frosting is to die for and everyone at our wedding loved the cupcakes and display.

My biggest warning would be if you have SPECIFIC color requests you might want to look elsewhere. Gwen has done 4 cakes now for my family and on ALL of them the coloring was not 100% correct, two of them it was completely wrong. For our cupcakes it was OFF but was OKAY, I'm not a super picky person but if you are and have color requests this might not be the vendor for you.

Gwen did a fantastic job! The cake was moist and tasted fantastic! My guests were impressed with the appearance and flavor. Definitely worth having her do your cake.

My husband and I drove all over metro detroit looking for a cake we both agreed on. Little did we know the perfect bakery was right in our backyard! Gwen's cakes are by far the best wedding cake flavors I've ever had. In fact, I liked her so much I used her for my bridal shower and my grooms cake, too! Beautifully decorated and delicious, and Gwen was a pleasure to work with. Highly recommended!

Gwen was a joy to work with and very flexible. Her cakes are delicious and moist! We went to a lot of nicer cake vendors and her cakes were definitely the tastiest! Not only were her cakes amazing, but she was definitely the most cost friendly as well. I think I spent a little over $300 for a 3 tiered cake and a grooms cake to feed 150 people and cake stand to rent, and we had TONS leftover. Our guests raved about the cake and loved it - one friend even said that he still dreams about the cake!

I gave her a picture of a cake design and she was able to replicate it almost exactly. She came to set up the cakes (we had a wedding cake and a grooms cake) during our cocktail hour and everything flowed very smoothly. Gwen worked with the venue coordinator to make sure she was on time and to plan the cake delivery. I can't wait to order more cakes in the future from her!

The sample cakes were delicious and quite big so I was able to take some to my fiance. The actual cake was beautiful, moist and delectable. I love the variety of flavors and am looking forward to our one year anniversary cake that we'll get. Gwen has consistently provided excellent service for our family (multiple graduation, anniversary and wedding cakes). She arranged the flowers we provided on the cake upon delivery which worked out great.
