Love the Gore Place!
My husband and I were married at the Gore Place on 8/26/22. We were originally supposed to get married on 8/27/21 but pushed back because of Covid. I'm so happy we were married there. Our reception was inside Carriage House. What a cool place that really transports you back in time. The grounds were beautiful to take places also inside the mansion. A special thanks to Linda Defranco who is nice/sweetest person and worked with us before and the day off. She was able to come up with a way to do the ceremony inside with a thunderstorm approaching. Gore Place is a special place to get married. It's a great spot not too far from Boston, easy for guests to come and enjoy! My husband and I were married at the Gore Place on 8/26/22. Gorgeous wedding venue
The grounds and the carriage house at Gore Place were exactly what we were looking for in a wedding venue. There are a number of areas on the grounds that would have worked for the reception, but we decided to do so in the field in front of the mansion right by the big apple tree. Despite being right off the main road through Waltham the trees and greenery made it feel like we were in a remote countryside estate. The carriage house had the rustic look we were looking for but was still fully functional for everything we needed to hold the reception. The grounds and the carriage house at Gore Place were exactly what we were looking for in a wedding venue. Highly Recommend Gem in Waltham!
My husband and I got married at Gore Place last weekend and it could not have been more perfect. Our original venue could not hold our wedding as planned and we had to look for a new location to hold a very small ceremony with our immediate family and friends to become legally married. From living in Waltham and passing by the beautiful grounds of Gore Place, we decided to inquire if they would be available to hold our ceremony. We met their wedding coordinator Linda to take a tour of the grounds and could not be more pleased with our experience. Linda was attentive and empathetic towards the current pandemic that is affecting so many weddings this year. She truly understood how brides and grooms are feeling during the pandemic and wanted to help in any way that she could. She gave us a tour of the grounds and the options we would have for our ceremony. Gore Place is so expansive and has multiple different options. Given that our wedding was in late October, we had no idea what we would be dealing with for weather, not to mention the State’s limits on guests, both inside and outside. Gore Place offered three different locations for our ceremony (outside in the field, outside under the tent, and inside the beautiful Carriage House) and we now had three options to help us with weather. We left our meeting with Linda and knew immediately this was the place we wanted to get married.
On our wedding day, Linda was very responsive and there for our every need. She allowed us to take pictures in the mansion, which make for breathtaking photo-opts. Linda was a superb wedding coordinator and she met and exceeded our every expectation. My husband and I would recommend Gore Place and Linda for your wedding as it truly provides a one-of-a-kind experience and especially during the pandemic, it was a ray of sunshine, during our cloudy skies. We are so grateful to have chosen Gore Place and highly recommend for future brides and grooms.

Our Perfect Venue
We've been attending the annual Sheepshearing Festival at Gore the last few years and knew it was a gorgeous place to take a walk close to our home in Belmont. When we got engaged Gore was on the shortlist of potential venues we wanted. It offered everything we wanted: outdoor ceremony location (with a covered location as a backup) and indoor reception space with air conditioning. The Carriage House was renovated in the last few years and is just beautiful, and we were able to take some gorgeous photos inside the historic mansion. Linda was so personable and flexible and actually recommended both the JOP and catering company we ended up hiring. It is an amazing value as a venue because you have so many options and they have tables and chairs on-site so you don't have to rent them. Beautiful Venue - Great Experience!
Gore Place was the perfect space for our wedding – a mix of the beautiful outdoors and the brick mansion in the background. We planned our wedding from out of state and Linda was so kind and helpful along the way. She did a face time meeting with us, met us in person a couple of times, and communicated well over email. She was there on the day of the wedding and was so kind and helpful along the way. We loved getting to have food trucks pull right up to the big white tent for dinner and dessert! The bridal party got to use a room inside of the mansion for our getting ready finishing touches, some picture taking, and signing our ketubah. We wanted to find a venue that was local, easy to get to, but still had natural beauty. We instantly fell in love with the beautiful and historic grounds, the mansion and the rustic appeal of the newly renovated carriage house. I had my heart set on a fall wedding and couldn't imagine another place to do it. It was also a plus that it is very close to Boston and fit into our budget. The venue is only part of the appeal, as Marjorie, the function manager was indispensable in making sure our wedding went as planned. She is very communicative, thoughtful and easy to work with with. Our beautiful fall wedding day turned into a rainy fall day but Gore Place and Marjorie's planning lends itself to multiple options, all of which made for a beautiful wedding and fun reception. We are very grateful that we were able our special day there and would recommend it to anyone planning a wedding. We wanted to find a venue that was local, easy to get to, but still had natural beauty. We loved having our wedding at Gore Place! Marjorie helped us from start to finish, and was always upbeat and full of helpful hints and ideas. We enjoyed working with vendors that she recommended and the day itself went very smoothly. We were able to do a beautiful outdoor ceremony as well as enjoy the carriage house for cocktail hour and a tented reception. It was a great choice as well as reasonably priced venue for our wedding and Marjorie was an absolute pleasure to work with throughout the months of planning. We loved having our wedding at Gore Place! We had our daughter's Bat Mitzvah party at Gore Place on 6/20/15, shortly after the completion of the renovated carriage house. Though we really wanted to use the SPECTACULAR carriage house, our daugher insisted on using the tent, having always fantasized about an outdoor party. And, we had such a wonderful day at this spectacular venue. Everything was perfect. Marjorie was exceedingly professional from the first time we got in touch with her, which was relatively late as we had booked another venue, but then got bumped from it - a TRUE blessing in the end. She responded to our emails and calls promptly, recommended "Simply Serving II" as we were having our caterer drop off the food and we needed servers and folks to set up and take down the tables and chairs. (Simply Serving was also wonderful). There was an event the night before ours and Marjorie went out on a limb and arranged for the lights the other folks had rented to be left for our event too, and it added a very special feel. She was eager to make suggestions in response to our questions but also allowed us to hire our own caterer. She even made it possible for us to surprise our daughter with an ice cream truck by allowing it to drive up right to the door of the tent!
Between Marjorie and Simply Serving and all they did, we were able to walk into the beautiful tent (thanks for the lights!) and be full guests at our own party.
Thank you doesn't even begin to express our appreciation for all they did for us! Marjorie is truly a master at what she does and we could not have been happier!

I am still overwhelmed at how helpful Gore Place was in helping us organize our wedding. Marjorie helped recommend caterers and activities for our guests. She set up the favors/guest book table for us on the day of and made sure there were special tours of the mansion.
The estate itself is gorgeous. There are 2 venues - the carriage house for parties under 90 (which we used - it was FANTASTIC!) and a huge tent that can accommodate many more (250 or more?). They will only rent out one venue at any time so you know you are the top priority for your event.
As an added bonus, since we are Waltham residents we got a huge discount.

You must have your wedding at Gore Place. First and foremost, the event coordinator, Michelle Caruso is fantastic. She is so accommodating, young, fun, and gets it! She wants to do everything she possibly can to help out and was a big help on the day of. We even asked her to help organize our ceremony for us so we all knew when to walk. Aside from Michelle, the venue is beautiful and affordable. We did our ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception here and they have so much space for all 3 to feel like they are in separate areas. You get all of the grounds to yourself for the whole afternoon/evening and a massive tent (with a floor) comes with the cost. The grounds are also so stunning, full of green and flowers. This place is a hidden gem of a wedding venue. A historic mansion on a sprawling 45 acre estate, a carriage house and a whimsical hedge garden. We met with Catie the coordinator and she was very helpful with answering all of our questions (I had a ton!), showing us all the different options for ceremony venues and recommended vendors we could use for our cocktail hour within our budget. Our wedding was a special situation as my in-laws required we have our reception at a chinese restaurant. Therefore we only needed a ceremony venue. Although this isn't the norm, Catie worked with us and we were able to use the beautiful venue for our ceremony and cocktail hour. There is plentiful on-site parking, multiple photo-op areas and lots of rustic charm. We looked at over ten outdoor venues and ultimately decided this place was the best for us. The manager, Marjorie, was highly organized, always professional and knowledgeable, and she helped us to put on a fabulous wedding. The Carriage House is charming and a marvelous place for a ceremony or a small reception. The sound bounces off the walls so you wouldn't want to have a big band in there. The large tent space was marvelous for a reception. We had 85 people and a live band, but you could have more tables. Marjorie is reliable, honest and very smart about helping to plan the day. Also, she seems to know everyone in Waltham and a lot of good vendors, and this was hepful. The main house is a bit stuffy for our taste and we just didn't use it. Everything was clean, the staff are productive and terrific, and we would highly recommend this event space. All in all, this was an A+ venue for us.The manager, Marjorie, was highly organized, always professional and knowledgeable, and she helped us to put on a fabulous wedding. We LOVED having our wedding at Gore Place! It was important to us to have a venue that we felt was more than just a hotel or country club hosting cookie cutter events. Choosing Gore means that you are supporting a historic site and allows you to have a unique and customizable wedding! The site is absolutely beautiful and we were able to make use of the whole property in a way that made the day feel extra special. Our ceremony was on the lawn in front of a lovely apple tree with the mansion behind us; our cocktail hour was in the beautifully restored carriage house (with lawn games on the lawn); our reception was in the tent and we took pictures all over the estate, including in the mansion. Marjorie was an incredible help throughout the whole process from answering our one million and one questions to meeting with my husband and me (and my parents and in-laws) multiple times as we made our decision and then planned the day to her invaluable support and organization to make the wedding day go smoothly! I cannot recommend Gore Place highly enough-it was just perfect! We LOVED having our wedding at Gore Place! If you are looking for a reasonably priced close to Boston outdoor wedding, this is the place to go. I got dressed and took group pictures in the mansion, our ceremony was outside and the reception was in the tent. There is also a carriage house that can be quite lovely, but we only had 125 people so we did not need to use it.
Michelle was great to work with and very flexible, she allowed us to drop things off the day before and was a joy to work with.
They are strict about noise there because of the neighbors so our band had to end at 9pm. They really like you to use their vetted vendors, which worked out well for us, we loved everyone they suggested.
The tent where we had the reception is quite nice; it has a carpeted floor, lighting, and is very large. Plus there is a lawn area outside of the tent where we set up games for the kids and chairs. Everyone really enjoyed the grounds.
Gore Place is a lovely estate and I loved having my wedding there, I could not imagine a more perfect location for a wedding.

Pros and Cons
Overall, we loved having our wedding here! There were a few hiccups along the way, but overall we had a good experience. We also did get married in Sept and it was a busy event season at the grounds leading up to our wedding, but there were some logistical issues and lack of communication that made the few weeks leading up to our event quite stressful. Overall, we had a good experience and the vendors at Premier did a great job, and the place is gorgeous.Overall, we loved having our wedding here! Let me start by saying that I absolutely loved my wedding at Gore Place, and it was unfortunate that we happened to book them during a transitional period for the venue. When we booked at Gore, we were supposed to have access to the Carriage House in case of rain, and we had been working with Michelle who had been the experienced coordinator there for some time. Then 6 mo later, construction was delayed on the Carriage House relocation and we were no longer able to use it during our event, and Michelle left the venue and was replaced by a less experienced coordinator.
The venue itself is beautiful, spacious, and a perfect place to coordinate the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception all in one location. However, due to the delayed construction, as you drove into the venue it looked more like a construction site than a wedding venue. Also, without use of the Carriage House, Gore was only willing to supplement some of the costs to have a trailer bathroom set up to accommodate all of our guests. Paying $1,000 for bathrooms at my wedding wasn't exactly an anticipated addition to my tight budget.
The new coordinator has great intentions, and an energetic attitude, but she was also very stressed on the day of the wedding. As a bride about to get married outside, hearing your wedding coordinator panic that a huge storm may be on its way was not exactly helpful. (Especially since our rain location of the Carriage House was unavailable due to the construction.) My wonderful bridal party was able to distract me from that stress, but I could still feel it in the background and that is something to consider. When all is said and done, I had an absolutely amazing time at my wedding at Gore Place because I stayed focused with a positive attitude. However, if you aren't the type of bride to let things slide on the day of the wedding, this may not be your venue.Let me start by saying that I absolutely loved my wedding at Gore Place, and it was unfortunate that we happened to book them during a transitional period for the venue. I am really torn writing this review, because we had the most beautiful wedding at Gore Place this past May. The grounds are lovely and green, and it really was the historic New England venue we were looking for. Logistics, though, were a nightmare...and that was with a wedding planner, her team and a wedding coordinator. Marjorie is the event coordinator at Gore Place. She isn't there to actually help with the event, she will just be on site the day of to police things. The inflexibility we experienced with Gore Place was quite a turn off, and I caution anyone looking here for a wedding because it ended up costing substantially more than other venues in the Boston area because of this. What I just can't stand by is that the week or so before our wedding, Marjorie told our wedding planner that there was a flower sale on the property that would end an hour after our wedding started, and that she wouldn't instruct the customer's cars to not park behind our ceremony spot. She was adamant that she told us about this plant sale when we came to look at the venue, but had we known about this beforehand we would have asked a million questions before booking the weekend we did. I asked her to meet me halfway, and help us figure something out so the plant sale could go on and there would be no cars parked behind our ceremony. She wouldn't. There were several other incidents along these lines, which makes me unable to recommend a wedding at Gore Place.I am really torn writing this review, because we had the most beautiful wedding at Gore Place this past May.
