Chris is one for the books

Words cannot describe what an amazing and special photographer and person Chris is. Although we were one of the wedding couples that had to change our date not once but three times over the course of a year and a half, Chris was always flexible and willing to make any date possible. He was/is extremely reliable and responsive within a matter of minutes throughout the entire process and willing to communicate via email, text and or phone call. (I am old fashioned and hate email so thank you for dealing with that lol) We couldn’t have asked for a more genuine, honest and brilliant person to work with and will definitely use him for all of the exciting chapters our future holds. He not only is the person you want to use to capture all of your memories, but he is also the person you consider a friend almost instantly and want to grab a beer with.

My now husband and I first met him in person for our engagement shoot. He went out of his way to drive over an hour in rush hour traffic just to shoot at Filoli Gardens. The fact that he is willing to travel for such a short amount of time is extremely generous and we are so grateful he took so much time out of his day to make that possible.

Now on to the photography aspect of it. Alec and I are definitely awkward in front of the camera and knew we would need some guidance in how to pose and feel comfortable being ourselves. After being open about this, he was able to offer many suggestions on how to stand, where to stand and pick out all of the places he knew would capture many memories. He listened to what we wanted and made it happen. I have a thing for doors and he made sure we got a photo in front of every door LOL. We really appreciated that he took charge and took all the guessing work out of what we needed to do and they came out truly perfect.

Fast forward a month later to our actual wedding day, which happened this past weekend. It was so wonderful to see Chris, a familiar face again, and this time around he truly gave us the confidence we needed on our big day to feel comfortable in front of the camera. It felt effortless the day of the wedding. (If using him before your wedding, I highly recommend meeting him for a shoot prior to the wedding so he can get to know your personalities and on the day of the wedding you feel like a natural. Plus you get to capture not one but two amazing photos of you and your loved one :) Him and his assistant Johnathan (shout out to you for also being kick ass and amazing) arrived promptly even before they were asked to, and were very organized and flexible with all of the planning. He was able to fluidly coordinate with our videographer, wedding coordinator and made things move effortlessly and efficiently.

One of my favorite things about him is is humbled confidence and trust in his ability to do the best job possible for every single person. The only thing he requested from us was a family photos list of people we wanted and other than that we didn’t feel the need to tell him exactly what photos to taken, nor did he want us to because he trusted himself to capture what was most important. It was an unspoken language and that is how you know you hired the one. I have no doubt in my mind him and Johnathan captured every beautiful moment of family and friends. He was always right there, but he blended in with such ease and disguise that you never even noticed them being there unless you were really paying attention.

Chris, we absolutely adore you and are so looking forward to having you as our photographer for many years ahead. Thank you for always allowing us to be ourselves and listening to what was important to us. You and Johnathan are one for the books and feel so lucky you too chose to work with us! :)

Absolutely AMAZING!

We hired chris and his team to shoot our wedding and all we can say is AMAZING!!!! They were so friendly and professional to be around during the day. They really went the extra mile to ensure we captured some incredible shots and we were so pleased after the entire day of how great they were to work with and be around. Now, after we received the pictures, OMG!!!! They really know what they are doing. Chris captured such amazing photographs that we will be able to keep forever. The memories captured are priceless and ABSOLUTELY stunning. I cannot say enough good things about Goodeye Photo other then you will not be disappointed if you hire them.

Amazing!

Chris was absolutely wonderful!! He helped us to feel and look natural while posing. He was quiet and un-noticeable during our ceremony and that was really important as we were married on the family charter boat. He made our engagement photos look absolutely amazing and we cannot wait to see how our wedding photos turned out. I would recommend him to anyone in need of any type of photography.

Amazing pictures

We are so happy we ended up going with Chris & GoodEye Photographer for our wedding at the Perry House.

We did an engagement session with Chris, which was a great experience as it got us the opportunity to get used to working with him (easy!) and we ended up with awesome pictures to use for our invitations and website.

Chris was critical in helping our wedding go smoothly - we felt like we were in excellent hands the entire time. We had multiple people (especially family) tell us how much they liked the photographer! We especially appreciated how he helped us get through the family formals quickly so we could rejoin the cocktail hour with plenty of time before dinner.

And best of all, we ended up with over 900 edited photos delivered to us only two weeks after the event! Chris captured so many moments beautifully and we couldn’t be happier with the results!

Amazing photographer!

I cannot say enough good things about Chris! He photographed our wedding in October and engagement photos in April. If you are in need of a photographer for any event, I highly recommend Chris!

His artistic eye is fantastic! I absolutely love our photos! We lucked out that the weather was great on the day, but it just made the pictures even more wonderful.

I would definitely recommend Chris for your photography needs. He is easy to communicate with and is proactive in providing you with all the information you could possibly need without even having to ask. We ended up with over 1,000 edited pictures from our wedding day. I got many compliments from guests about how he was able to capture every moment, they never felt like he was in the way, and he was relaxed and professional. We selected Chris of GoodEye Photography for or beach wedding ceremony and reception on March 17th, 2018 at Manresa State Beach. Right from the start Chris was very responsive and professional. He took the time to meet with us on several occasions and went through the whole process. On the day of the wedding he showed up promptly and immediately started taking photographs. My wife and I got married on June 25, 2017 at The Meritage in Napa, CA and Chris was our photographer. I used to be a wedding photographer in WA and finding the right photographer was always something important for my wedding. After hours of searching and meeting with many photographers, I knew we had found the one when I received an email back from Goodeye and it was full of sarcasm and little hints at his personality. After meeting with Chris and seeing his work, I knew we had found the one. His use of lighting and speed made us confident in his abilities to immortalize our special day. Chris worked with us to get the package and price that was best for us and only 4 weeks later we received over a thousand well shot photos. I literally cannot say enough good things about Chris. From the moment we met him to discuss our wedding shoot, he was incredibly thorough, up-front, and professional. He got us our photos extremely quickly (over 800 in about a month), and they're STUNNING.

Many of our guests commented on how gentle and professional he was in taking pictures of guests, and everyone in the bridal party was impressed with his efficiency and skill. Everyone loves the candids (and there are many)!

Chris of GoodEye is the most amazing photographer ever!! When looking for a wedding photographer, we reviewed different portfolios. When we came across Chris's website and body of work, we were mesmerized. His photographs blew every one else's out of the water. Just from his photographs alone, we knew Chris was the photographer for us, which was only solidified further when we met him in person. Over tea at a half-way point (which Chris treated us to generously), we bonded over the Santa Cruz area, pets, and the importance of family-first. Not only is Chris an uber-professional (creative, responsive, organized, flexible, experienced, interpersonally savvy), but he is an incredibly genuine, warm, thoughtful, and easy-going person. We did a mini-engagement shoot at Capitola Village and Chris made us feel so at-ease and interjected fun into the shoot. Literally 30 minutes after the shoot, he texted us a few sneak-peeks! He sent us our engagement pictures about a week later and our jaws dropped! His shots were works of art! As we shared our photographs with family and friends, we kept hearing comments such as "wow, he is such an amazing photographer," "you can tell he is experienced and passionate about his work," "these are the best engagement pictures I have ever seen." Before our wedding ceremony, Chris orchestrated a first look at Lover's Point which went super smoothly. This helped our bridal party shake off some pre-wedding jitters. After the wedding ceremony, Chris took our formal family shots and got us back to the party in record time. Throughout the reception, he blended into the intimate gathering and used his "good eyes" (wink) to capture all our special moments. Also of note, Chris is amazing at providing timeline feedback, tips to reduce shiny hair/makeup, and answering all manner of stressed-out brides' questions! We are extremely happy to have found our photographer for life. We cannot wait to work with Chris again as he captures Luther family memories.

I can't begin to tell you what a fantastic decision it was to hire GoodEye. He was referred by our wedding coordinator, Denise Addesso, and he was one of several EXCELLENT recommendations. When we saw his work on his webpage, we knew he was the absolute best. Not only was he the best in regards to sheer talent, but he was truly a delight to have around for both the engagement shoot and the wedding as well. We had such a fun time getting ready and he got some incredibly clever shots (including a stuffed otter wearing my wedding shoes- one of my favorites, and perfect for an aquarium wedding!). His sense of humor is a delight, and will certainly calm any frantic bride! Also, turnaround time was superb. We didn't expect anything for months, and he got us everything in about 2-3 weeks! Highly, highly recommend!!

Chris is really good at what he does, and he's not shy about showing it off on his website. You can see the quality of his work by browsing through all the amazing pictures on his portfolio. He is very laid back and willing to work with you. He delivered a great mix of classic and candid photographs. We loved so many of them that we spent hours trying to decide which one to send along with the thank you notes! The price tag is high, but it's well worth it.

Chris recently shot our wedding at Byington Winery. He was so much fun to work with, before the wedding, during, and afterward, through to the finished product. The images we received captured the event so perfectly and were just stunning. It was obvious that all of our guests felt comfortable with him, enabling him to be able to capture smiles, laughter and so much joy at our event that going through the photos brings tears to my eyes. The end result was above and beyond what I could have imagined. He knew just the right interactions to watch for and to capture among our guests. We didn't plan to order an album, but now, I know I have to let him work his magic on a coffee table book for us. He is fabulously professional, fun, and obviously very technically skilled with the camera and his tools of the trade! You won't find anyone better!

Our process for choosing a wedding photographer was simple: We picked ten highly-rated local photographers on Yelp, loaded their portfolio galleries from their websites into ten tabs in a web browser, then just compared photos. The results were illuminating:

Four of the photographers showed what we would call mediocre photos in their own portfolios. Some seemed not to have a very good "eye," or sense of what good photography is. We ruled them out immediately.

Another four showed very stylized photos-urban, trendy, chic, grunge, edgy, etc. This is not bad, it's just not what we were looking for.

Two of the galleries were quite good-filled with quality photos. But just one stood out as truly excellent-GoodEye photography. Chris was the only photographer we contacted, and we feel lucky that he was able to shoot our wedding.

Chris knows exactly how to shoot a wedding without being obtrusive, but still getting excellent shots. He sent us guides in advance to help us plan. For example, he suggested we put together a shot list of wedding party and family groupings that we wanted, and appoint someone to gather those folks. He shot the entire list in about 20 minutes after the ceremony, so that we could all get back to the reception. Greatly appreciated!

Chris was so unobtrusive, we sometimes didn't know where he was. But he was always somewhere where something interesting was happening, getting great shots.

Finally the results were fantastic. He got all the classic shots that everyone wants, but also delivered a large number of romantic, casual and just plain fun photos on his own. We've been going through all the photos over and over, noticing new things every time.

We are extremely pleased!

My bride and I were very pleased with Chris in all aspects: quality, professionalism, speed, communication, promptness, and very easy to work with among others. Most of all he is able to get the shots quickly and let us and our guests enjoy the wedding without everyone feeling like they are doing photos all day. He is also able to capture at all the right moments but somehow never seems to be in the way of the wedding activities. The engagement photo session was also top-notch. As the saying goes, "you get what you pay for". While Goodeye is not inexpensive, Chris delivers excellent quality and results.

Chris is amazing. He photographed our engagement photos, wedding, and reception. In our opinion Chris's photography skills far exceed the closest competitor. He knows how to capture the moment both traditionally and in more creative and imaginative ways. He blends both styles beautifully for holistic coverage. Chris gives you a good deal on his talent, the value exceeds costs and expectations for all the shots he takes. He is that good! Overall Chris is well worth it just from a business standpoint as he shoots beautiful shots and every time I thought I needed a photo of this or that he had already taken it! For us however, his skill was secondary and what really stood out was Chris the person. This aspect you cannot put a price tag on. He is a great person. We enjoyed being around him and he fit in perfectly to everything. Our wedding was a huge moment for us and Chris helped us enjoy it. He really added to the event. He was never a distraction or a burden but instead made everyone feel comfortable and enjoyable. Our reception went long but as we got ready to leave there was Chris still covering everything.

5 stars...great business...great photography...easy to work with and accommodating...great person...recommend and trust Chris with one of the biggest and greatest moments in life.

We met Chris when he shot at a friend's wedding. They raved about how great he was to work with, and as soon as we saw their pictures we knew we wanted him for our wedding! Chris has a great eye for capturing the perfect shots and has a great way of putting you at ease so you can be relaxed and natural. Chris is an awesome photographer, he was on time(earlier than expected) to our wedding. He made efficient use of our time together, and the way he took pictures was very natural. We did not have to hold 5 second poses or anything and he was still able to take incredible shots, some shots I didn't know he took. He is highly recommended in my books, and we look forward to working with him again at our wedding.

My husband and I were extremely happy with Chris as our wedding photographer! In looking for a photographer, I wanted to make sure to find someone who could capture great formal portraits as well as great candids. GoodEye Photography + Design was on the list of preferred vendors at our venue, The Bridges Golf Club in San Ramon, and we really liked his portfolio out of the many we reviewed, so we feel incredibly lucky that Chris was available for our wedding date because he did such an amazing job! We planned our wedding in a relatively short time period (four months!), so we were thinking of skipping engagement photos, but Chris encouraged us to try to build these in as practice for the big day, which we were really happy we did. The photos he took of our engagement session and our wedding day turned out so beautifully ... I wish he could've been around for the proposal! ;) Chris is extremely professional, organized and artistically talented, but also super laid back, flexible, and easy to work with. He even texted us a few select shots the day after our wedding to give us a quick sneak peek, which was really awesome. Chris did a fabulous job capturing my wedding day! It was super hot and I have a really big family and he kept his cool and got all the shots in that I wanted! 1) He's an amazing artist. His work speaks for itself. Chris has an incredible eye for design/composition, and was not only able to capture the important moments, but also the artistic ones you wouldn't think to look for.

2) He's a pleasure to work with. I am not an easy subject when it comes to having my photo taken, but Chris puts you at ease and does not make things stressful.

3) He's very responsive. Any questions we had were answered in such a prompt manner. He is very easy to get in touch with.

Chris is a dream photographer to have for your wedding day. It rained on our outdoor wedding, and he soldiered on staying positive and taking great shots. Luckily, the rain cleared up after the ceremony and Chris got some truly stunning shots that we'll treasure forever. He went above and beyond the call of duty--I was really dehydrated and he kindly shared his water with me; he also personally drove us to a different location where we got the best photos. Chris was super nice, and really did a great job of capturing our wedding. We also appreciated the engagement photos session as a good way for us to practice for the wedding and get to know him--neither of us is particularly photogenic but he managed to get a lot of nice pictures of us. I especially loved the details he captured of all the decorations and other details of the wedding.

You can stop looking. You found your photographer.

The groom and I had a very modest wedding budget, but hiring a top-flight photographer was priority number one. I'm a spray-paint-and-hot-glue kind of gal, but the day was too important to gamble on an inexperienced photographer. I knew there would be so many moments, so many guests -- age one to ninety-one! -- and I wanted gorgeous pictures of them all.

I reviewed at least ten portfolios. Chris Schmauch had far and away the best, most photojournalistic, most authentic, moment-capturing portfolio of any of them.

The first Skype session showed us Chris's personality: exactly the balance of easy-going and go-getting that you want in a wedding photographer. Family man. Cool dad. Super pro. He sincerely worked with us to find a photo package that met our needs and fit our budget. It was a no-brainer. We were sold.

And that was even before he took the first photo for us!

The engagement session proved we made the right decision. Chris is EXCELLENT at taking charge in a way that still makes everyone feel relaxed. It's a rare skill! We had a great time, got to know Chris, and got some gorgeous pictures -- including some silly ones, which are still my favorites.

On the wedding day, Chris showed up early. He captured everything -- a heart-pounding venue snafu, girl grooming, details, guests, bride's entrance AND groom's reaction AND bride coming up the aisle (how he did that I'll never know! And I never even knew he was there!)... there's more to say but this form's text limit means I must stop!

From the day I first emailed him in September to the day this week that he sent the links to the final photo set, I have been wildly, blissfully happy with our decision. That kind of confidence is priceless, and we got it for a song.

Thank you, Chris, for being a part of our special day. Thank you for working with our budget and never trying to pressure us into spending more. It has meant the world.

Chris is the most amazing photographer an amazing man! He was absolutely perfect! So friendly, so personable. He put everyone at ease and we did not even know he was there most of the time! My family and I are not the most photogenic of people, but he caught us in perfect moments and we all looked beautiful! Everyone felt comfortable around Chris and he was able to get some of the most beautiful touching shots! During our ceremony, he was near the alter by my fiancé and I, and I've spoken with many other people and no one even noticed him there and he was able to get some truly precious moments. If I ever need Any other photos then I will without hesitation call Chris immediately! He is officially my favorite photographer ever!

Chris is a SUPERHERO! There are people who stand around and take pictures, and then there are people who pick up a camera and create magic. Chris would be the latter of the two.

A few things:

*You will not find a more responsive wedding vendor anywhere! It seems like some of his responses to my many emails are instantaneous.

*He has an awesome personality. He will make you feel at ease in any situation. He is hilarious and so down to earth. The type of guy you just want to hang out with all of the time.

*He totally blends into the crowd, not in your face or cheesy.

*His candid shots are the best I have seen from any photographer for any event.

Chris was with us ALL day on the day of our wedding. He took pictures as my bridesmaids and I got our hair and makeup done as well as some formal shots in San Jose and then drove over to our venue in Gilroy to meet the Groomsmen and my fiance. (Come to find out, before starting with us that morning, he also stopped by our venue in Gilroy to scope out the set up - that's a lot of driving back and forth!!) He kept us all calm and collected and helped navigate us through the entire evening. Six LONG weeks after our wedding, our wedding gallery was available on his website. Totally worth every minute of the wait! I was instantly brought back to each and every moment he captured. I got to relive the best day of my life. Not just any photographer can do that! I could not be happier. Now I just need to wait to see my wedding albums. The only downside is I need to narrow down the pictures for our album and there are TOO MANY to choose from!!

I would highly recommend Chris to anyone. We loved working with him & would definitely consider using him again in the future if we ever decide to get any professional photos done.

My husband and I live in Southern California, but were getting married at Bargetto Winery in Soquel. He has nothing but excellent reviews wherever you look, an amazingly wonderful & informational website & then last but not least he's a great guy! We set up an online video interview with him & enjoyed meeting him and were so pleased when he sent us his proposal. He listened to what we were looking for and gave us a few different options to choose from that were around what we were looking for in terms of budget.

On the day of our wedding Chris showed up not long after I did (and more awake than I was) with his coffee in hand & his cameras on his hip. He got along with everyone and worked with us to make sure he got pieces of all the right moments. He's does it all so quickly and makes it look so easy. Our guests thought he was great.

His results are definitely more than worth what he charges! Don't be afraid to contact him. Thanks Chris!!

Photography was one of the most important items to me when planning our wedding. It’s the one thing that we’ll have to look back in future years to remember our special day. I looked at countless photographers until we found Chris and knew he was right for us after meeting with him and viewing his portfolios. One thing someone told me when looking at photographers is don’t just look at the pictures that they show you, ask to see a full portfolio from one wedding to see the full deliverable rather than the best of the best of what they’ve ever photographed. With Chris I didn’t even have to do this because his full portfolios are on his website. When going through these it was easy to say that ALL of his pictures are amazing, not just say 30 or 40 like some photographers we looked at.

I’m no expert but to me, one area that we found that Chris excelled over other photographers is his expertise in flash. There were so many photographers that photograph well with the perfect natural light but Chris always has his extra flash which really adds to the photos. Chris also was probably one of the most quickest at responding to our emails which is really great when you’re getting down to the final weeks and days before the wedding. We did have a vendor that took weeks to respond even right up to the date of the wedding so it was such a relief to hear back from Chris so promptly.

On the day of, Chris and Sam (the second photographer) showed up on time and made myself and everyone else in the wedding party feel at ease and forget that the cameras were even there. The morning after the wedding I woke up and to my surprise Chris had already uploaded a few of the photos the night before. We had a brunch the next morning for out of town guests so it was an added surprise to show off some of our photos the very next day. We had many comments from the wedding party and guests on how great and friendly the photographers were. I would highly recommend Chris for any photography needs and look forward to using him in the future.

We just got married at Villa Montalvo on 6-22-12. Chris along with Sam were our Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious photographers. I can't think of another word to describe them!

Not only are they easy to work with, but they always have a smile on their face. We had our engagement photos and our wedding shot by Chris. We explained that we really wanted to capture the moments, the emotions. I've had a sneak peek at the wedding photos and I'm already laughing and crying! It's like I'm at my wedding all over again.

Chris and Sam seemed to be everywhere all the time. They caught some of the most amazing shots. They were shooting from the hair salon early in the day until the sun went down after the last dance.

My family and friends are still commenting on how wonderful the photographers were. One of my friends told Chris - If I ever get married, I'm definitely booking YOU! They really knew how to set a great tone for the whole event.

If you're looking for someone you can easily communicate with, who is flexible, has MAD photography skills and last but not least, has a great sense of humor.....look no further. You found your dude.

I'm so freaking happy I can hardly find the right words.

I truly can not say enough good things about Chris Schmauch and his assistant, Sam Fontejon. Choosing Good Eye Photography to shoot our wedding is the best decision we made in all of our wedding planning. We even flew them all the way out to Maui from California and it was beyond worth it! Chris really went out of his way to work with us and our budget to make it possible to have them here. Every shot they took is gorgeous and amazing, all the photos together really tell the story of the best day of our lives.

Chris and Sam really know how to capture the spirit of a person in their photos. They bring out the best in a person because they make people feel so comfortable. My husband has never really been a fan of taking photos and they made him feel so at ease in front of the camera. He was actually raving about them too by the end of the night! Everyone who sees our photos comments on our great choice of photographers!

Beyond Chris and Sam's incredible artistic talent, they are also such nice, warm, fun and funny guys. By the end of the event, I thought of them as more of my guests, than people who were working for us. I made them put the cameras down at the end of the evening and come party with us! We had so much fun with them into the wee hours of the morning.

As if it weren't enough that Chris is the best photographer on the planet, he is also a super talented graphic designer. After the wedding he put together some gorgeous photo collage boards that allowed us to share several photos with our guests in a minimal amount of time. And his photo albums are so stylish and well put together, my album is going to be my most prized possession. Even the blog he wrote was incredible.

Without a doubt, for every future event that we need a photographer for, we will either be flying out to Santa Cruz or bringing Chris and Sam back out to Maui! Not only did we get the most beautiful photos imaginable, we also got two new lifelong friends. Many, many mahalos to Chris and Sam and everyone at Good Eye Photography and Design!

Chris was simply amazing!!! My husband and I hired him for our wedding on March 24 and had not one but TWO engagement sessions with Chris before our wedding. Chris made us feel comfortable right away, which was really important for my husband and myself because we are not the type of couple that likes to be the center of attention or be open with our feelings in front of others, so Chris making us comfortable during our sessions really allowed for our love for one another to show through and for others to see the love we have for one another by just looking at a picture of us which I thought was amazing.

During the process, Chris was extremely responsive and answered all my questions immediately! On my wedding day he got to our hotel bright and early and interacted with the entire family like he was an old friend!! Chris even read my vowes and my husbands to make sure they fit together and moments before the ceremony stopped by to tell me its time, you got this, see you up there! You just don't find a wedding vendor like that everyday! If you want amazing pictures and amazing service from someone who won't treat you like just another client, you should definetely sign with Chris!! You won't be disappointed!! Thanks so much Chris! I wish I could send an email out to every single future bride out there and tell them to choose GoodEye for their wedding photography! Chris does an outstanding job and surprised my husband and I with the most beautiful, memorable, photoalbum-worthy pictures of our wedding! Although the final product is the most important thing, I have to give Chris even more credit on how he works with people. For being two shy people, Wes and I warmed up to him instantly and found ourselves having so much fun at both our engagement shoot, and wedding day! Chris shot my engagement and wedding photos for my August 13, 2011 wedding. I charged Chris with quite a challenge: help me create an authentic Roaring 20's wedding. As a former event planner and performer, with tons of expectations and vintage props, I had a clear vision and Chris delivered with style.

Our engagement shots were phenomenal - Chris was casual, professional and focused. The icing on the cake: he helped us figure out how to light up an unplugged vintage lamp in the redwoods. The only down side is that the shots were too good - picking 5 shots was quite difficult.

The wedding photos were also wonderful - Chris produced classy and unique photos that highlighted our 1920's wedding well. The proof: over a dozen folks have told me to submit my photos to magazines and blogs. Some have told me they are the best wedding photos they have ever seen.

And as many have said, he is clear, responsive and easy to work with.

I am so thankful that Goodeye Photography + Design was there to document it all.

AMAZING!! Not that I had any doubt! We have just now received our wedding photos and I could not be happier! Chris had a real challenge with my wedding party of 20!! But the pictures are perfect and just what I wanted. I love that Chris snaps a lot of candids because that really brings life into your wedding photos. Bottom line we will never go to anyone else for our photography needs! Maybe, he will be shooting our maternity pictures soon. ;) Thanks Chris!!!

Chris is a very talented, creative photographer and super great to work with! After meeting other photographers for our 9/3/11 wedding, Chris really stood out to my husband and I. We felt comfortable with him during our first meeting and that's important to people like us who aren't used to all the camera attention. We loved that he is family-oriented and is a full-time photographer.

Chris shot our engagement and wedding photos. Our engagement session went smoothly and was actually a lot of fun. We received sneak peeks within a few days and the entire engagement session photos within a week! And for our wedding day, he had sneak peeks up that night! Incredible! We absolutely LOVE our wedding photos and couldn't be happier. Once we have a family of our own, I'm definitely getting in touch with him again to take our family photos! :)

Chris of GoodEye was absolutely amazing. His photos of our wedding blew us away - he is truly a genius with light. It was raining and cloudy most of our wedding day, but the photos are unreal. And not only are the photos amazing, but he is a fun person to have around on such an important day. Very laid back, not pushy, and just really easy to have following you around on such an intimate, personal day. If you want photos of the little details as well as the big moments on your wedding day, you cannot go wrong with Chris. We are 150% happy with our decision to go with him. Our wedding was up in Napa, so if you are having a wine country wedding, make sure to call him and see if he is available! This is the one big expense of a wedding (in my opinion!) to splurge on, and with that being said, he is a super talented photographer with lower rates than most out there. Chris was awesome!!!

You can't go wrong with Chris! My husband and I are so happy we chose Chris to take our wedding photos. Chris was very professional. He returned all our e-mails and phone calls within the hour! In person Chris is very friendly and easy to get along with, which was a very important trait when dealing with so many different guests in our wedding. Our photos were up and ready for us to see while we were still in our honeymoon! We love our pictures and enjoyed seeing all the little things we missed that night. Chris caught them all! Chris is simply AMAZING! We had the honor of having him photograph our engagement shoot, as well as our wedding and we were truly blown away.

I knew I wanted to work with him when I stumbled upon his work during a random search, so I contacted him, and after talking (incredibly friendly & honest) I booked him without ever meeting him. I wasn't disappoint for one second!

When our engagement photos came back we were in awe...that's really us?! These photos were out of this world gorgeous, and the best part about it is that he captured who we really are. He makes you feel comfortable, and he'll do what it takes to get the jaw dropping shots!
Chris even worked with one of my bridesmaid's to make a surprise wedding guest book with all of the photo's....awesome!

All of our friends, and family were so excited to see his photos of the wedding after (my entire family are HUGE fan's of his work), and he did not disappoint! We had about 120 people at our wedding, and I don't know how he did it, but he captured the true character & personality of ALL of our guests.

Chris worked with-in our budget, style, and hopes for these special moments in our life. His work is effortless and stunning! Ladies you will feel incredible when you see the photo's he takes of you.

We are already booking another shoot with him, not exactly trash the dress, but something even more creative & fun.

Chris's work is UN-beatable, and you will not be disappointed, in fact you will be SO VERY HAPPY you chose him!

Chris shot my July 9, 2011 wedding. He definately ranks a 5 in all of the above areas. The photographs are really lovely. He was quick and unobtrusive and I got a lot of positive feedback from other guests. He managed to really get every moment and there were a lot of shots of the guests in addition to just the wedding party - which is wonderful to have. When we first met he seemed pretty laid back but on the day of he was extremely professional and on top of things.
He is probably the most responsive person I know via email! Definately flexible, and definately a great value for the service you receive. I highly recommend.
My grandfather was a professional photographer so having high quality pictures was really important to me. I interviewed qutie a few photographers and was really happy to have found Chris.

Chris was our wedding photographer in April 2010. He did a fantastic job. Not only did he take good formal shots of the bridal party and family, he got some fabulous candid shots of everyone. He caught laughter, tears, etc.. wonderful moments that we are happy to have in our wedding album to remember the day by.

My fiancee nicknamed him the "photo ninja" for his ability to stealthily move in and take pictures without the subject even knowing, or feeling put on the spot. He also has a very calm personality, which really helped the setup for the formal shots run smoothly.

You won't be disappointed if you hire him for your event.

I was completely blown away by my engagement photoshoot. I would recommend Chris to anybody. He even scoped out our location beforehand, since I and my fiance were so busy to check it out. His photos speak for themselves. I used Goodeye for my wedding photos back in June 2008, and it was the most stress-free portion of all the wedding planning!

I can't say enough good things about Chris! Leading up to the wedding he was extremely responsive answering emails the same day, and really putting any concerns of mine at ease.

The day of the wedding he arrived with his assitant Sam early and started scoping out the area. Looking for the best areas for any outdoor photos.

They were SO great to work with and two months later I still go back to the site daily to check out the pictures. I have receieved so many compliments on my wedding photos, and really I can't agree more. I love my pictures!!

All in all, working with Chris was a great experience I highly recommend him to any bride to be!

Chris was our wedding photographer back in 2007. I got SO lucky landing this guy for our wedding pics! The results were amazing. Not to mention, we had so much fun (the whole entourage and Chris) on our wedding day(s). Yes, we spent 2 days getting married, and Chris was with us, and fit in just like family. Your wedding day is such a special day, and at the end of the day, you want it hassle free, fun, and memorable. Chris helped capture those beautiful moments that we still treasure to this day. I'd def recommend him to any of my friends and family.

I had Chris do the photography at my wedding. He came as just one person. He stayed out of the way. He shot over 1000 pictures! they were all good. The most difficult part was choosing which pictures to use! 3 years later I still flash my wedding album (which he designed all the layout for and everything) and people oooh and ahhhh.

Chris from GoodEye photographed our wedding last year and did a fantastic job. He's very personable and easy going, great with kids and very good at candid photographs. We barely knew he was there (except for the formal shots of course). He was on time, professional and reasonable. You can't beat that! Chris shot my engagement & wedding and the pictures are wonderful. He takes the traditional standard shots but he knows and masters the art of taking real life pics- the ones you look at and can feel that moment or how that person was feeling. He is brilliant!

Pros:
He knows his stuff. His equipment in top of the line and he is up to date with technology. Extremely professional and is a really nice guy. If you have an event or just need to take a family portrait, he makes you feel very comfortable and is personable.

Cons:
None.

You won't be disappointed.

You can't go wrong with Chris! My husband and I are so happy we chose Chris to take our wedding photos. Chris was very professional. He returned all our e-mails and phone calls within the hour! In person Chris is very friendly and easy to get along with, which was a very important trait when dealing with so many different guests in our wedding. Our photos were up and ready for us to see while we were still in our honeymoon! We love our pictures and enjoyed seeing all the little things we missed that night. Chris caught them all! He really has a "good eye" for photography!

I was able to have the pleasure of meeting Chris this weekend, 7/17/2010, at a wedding for my best friend Jenn Iwagoshi, who is now Jenn Nikas. Chris was absolutely wonderful and I cannot express enough how professional, personable, and passionate he was about his work. He made sure to capture every moment of my best friends big day.

I was able to be in the bridal room in order to do the bridesmaids makeup. He and his assistant did such a great job at capturing all of the action shots and was kind enough to share some of the photos with me.

His talent of capturing the love and happiness of the bride and groom and putting a creative and colorful edge to it is something that I have not seen in a while.

Again, Chris was so wonderful. As a Bridal Makeup Artist, I would refer him to any clients I had as well as anyone who is looking for someone to really capture the joy of their wedding day while still creating a young and vibrant feel!

While my wife and I were looking for wedding photographers, we were referred to Chris, and GoodEye Photography, from a friend. After meeting with Chris, and seeing some samples of his work (including his awesome wedding albums and plethora of cool candid shots), we knew he was the one.

When the time came, Chris and his assistant were extremely professional, yet easy going and fun. This created an excellent dynamic. It was truly a pleasure to have them capture our wedding, and I would not hesitate to recommend them, or hire them again.

I'd also like to add that after looking through other photographers samples and wedding packages...GoodEye Photography is by far the greatest value. Thanks Chris for keeping our wedding truly memorable!

Chris was amazing!!

Our wedding was on June 26, 2010 at the Shadowbrook restaurant in Capitola and the pictures turned out better then I could have ever expected! They were absolutely beautiful. Our ceremony was held in a fairly low light venue and, while I was initially worried, this proved to be no problem for him. He did better all by himself then I've seen some photographers do with an army of assistants. He dealt easily with my annoyingly sassy family, worked well with our coordinator, ran up and down hundreds of stairs, and through it all kept a friendly and fun demeanor. He was so accommodating and really went out of his way to do everything we wanted and then some. His confidence and friendly personality really took a lot of stress out of our big day.

I'd recommend him to anyone!

Chris was absolutely amazing to work with, and I would highly recommend Chris to any couple looking to get great engagement and wedding photos (or any photos in general!). It was effortless communicating with him throughout the engagement and wedding photo sessions, and we was always available to talk or to send emails back and forth.

Best of all, his photos were gorgeous. My family members saw the "teaser" photos just after the wedding, and they were amazed at how wonderful he made the pictures look. Whether it was the venue, the dancing, the cupcakes, or family photos, everyone was impressed. He had great interesting shots by interacting with us and the rest of the party. I will definitely seek out Chris in the future for any other photography needs we'll have! I have already recommended him to another family who are interested in having baby photos taken. Full disclosure: I worked with Chris Schmauch for over 6 years. In that time, I watched in awe as his photography talents evolved into the professional he is today.

Here are his strengths:

Good communication. He carries a PDA with him everywhere and is very responsive.

Keen eye. He has the gift of seeing things that other people miss and he's able to capture it in still images.

Invisibility. He'll show up to the event, blend in and capture the moments and no one will know he's there. He's not an "in-your-face" photographer.

Stress-free. He somehow keeps his cool in stressful situations. When he shot my wedding, there were some tense moments and he was unphased. He's also not one of those bossy photographers who orders people around and snaps.

Probably most important, he take beautiful, moving, astounding pictures.

The only reason I didn't give him a 5.0/5.0 is because he refused to take a picture or "be any part of" photographing me pushing my wife in the pool in her wedding dress. In hindsight, it was probably for the best. But sometimes I really wish I'd done it.

Chris was absolutely incredible. In addition to the quality of his work which is obvious looking at his portfolio, he was unreasonably responsive (within minutes every time), professional yet fun and flexible, easy to work with, turned around the final prints in under two weeks, and went way out of his way to help us out with documenting the rehearsal dinner. He shoots alone, but we definitely didn't feel like anything was missed. We got every moment and shot we had hoped to see. He's pricy but worth it. Only thing we did was saved a few bucks by building our own book (we wanted three copies) - though it took a ton of time to build it.

I found GoodEye through Yelp and now it is the time to feed Yelp ;-)

I browsed 20+ photography on Yelp that rated about 4. They all looked very nice and professional. While exploring the photos, Chris's photo captured me. It is like choosing the wedding dress, though all of them looks pretty, when you find your dress, you know that's the one!

So I followed my heart and booked the session with Chris (he has a calendar page on his website and you can see he is VERY BUSY. So, book ahead!! ) . You can barely notice when he took the pictures so they looks very nature and organic,which is exactly what I am looking for. I am really glad that I invited Chris as my photographer for my big day!!

PS: I received my photos yesterday and I wasn't expecting to see them in 2015 based on Chris's calendar! Best Xmas gift ever!!!

My husband and I got married on 9/3/2017 at Testarossa Winery in Los Gatos, CA and Chris with GoodEye did an AMAZING job. We don't have enough good things to say about our ultimate experience.

Chris was with us through every step of the planning process making recommendations on timelines for the day as well as various shots that we may have wanted to consider adding (such as formal shots we may have missed). He even included a complimentary 30min 'engagement shoot' to get to know his style prior to the wedding (which we highly recommend).

Chris was very personable and professional. He helped to really bring the day together and his turnaround time was incredible. We had access to our photos within two weeks of the wedding! He processed and touched up everything with great attention to detail and organized everything on his site to make it easy for us and our guests to access and download.

We highly recommend working with Chris and GoodEye Photography!

I have a hard time having my picture taken. Actually I didn't realize how uncomfortable I actually was with having my picture taken until I got engaged. I'm not what you call "photogenic"; more like " a complete ham with my mouth hanging open"

But you would never know it from our wedding photos for which I have Chris to thank. Our pictures are so vibrant, so full of life, so very much the exact feel I wanted to create for our wedding. It was beautiful and fun and real and so are our pictures.

And Chris himself is very easy going but directive at the same time, exactly what I needed. I wasn't overly pleased with all my vendors but I would recommend Chris to everyone.
