I could gush endlessly about our experience with Goldenwood Ensembles, and I know my review won't capture everything that made them incredible.
We hired them to play during our wedding ceremony, and I truly can't imagine working with a better group of musicians. They were incredibly professional, kind, and easy to work with leading up to the wedding and day-of; administrative details like the contract, discussion of logistical needs, and payment were crystal clear (not something I can say for other groups I reached out to). Every communication with them inspired confidence that they had their role covered, which was huge for my wife and I as we were planning the whole event ourselves.
I have a background in music composition and performance, and can say with certainty that the quality of their musicianship is absolutely excellent. Their performances during our ceremony (3 songs: wedding party processional, bride processional, and recessional) remain a beautiful core memory of the day for us and our guests. We ended up having a trio of flute, violin, and cello, which was perfect for our space, sound, and budget, though you can feel confident that whatever combination of instruments/musicians fits your needs will be masterfully brought to life by this group. Solo Violinist for Elopement - Amazing!
We worked with Krysia to select three songs to play following our city hall elopement. She was so responsive and accommodating to our requests. The ladies did an absolutely amazing job playing for our ceremony and cocktail hour! They gave a level of romance to the day that was exactly what we were hoping for. We had tons of compliments from our guests about how friendly they were and how beautiful the music was. We recently had Vicky, a member of Goldenwood Ensembles, play the keyboard for our 50th anniversary celebration at the Colony Hotel in Kennebunkport, Maine (Colony did not have a piano). Vicky played an engaging selection of pieces as background music during our cocktail hour and dinner. She was very personable, flexible and a highly accomplished pianist. Our booking was through Goldenwood Ensembles, which was very easy to work with and highly responsive to requests and questions. I highly recommend them!Goldenwood Ensembles's reply:

Krysia was absolutely wonderful to work with in figuring out our wedding ceremony music. She was quick to hop on a phone call and flush details out, understanding of our vision, and experienced in her advice. We had a flute and guitar combination with her and Dennis and it was perfect for setting the magical tone of our ceremony on the lake at Migis Lodge. I absolutely loved this combination, it was so beautiful. They made sure they had the songs we wanted to hear when walking down the aisle, easy going throughout the process, and gave us confidence that we didn’t need to worry about a thing with the music (and we didn’t!). We’re so grateful to them for adding such beauty to our special day. For context: We had an intimate City Hall ceremony. Goldenwood Ensembles played ceremony and cocktail hour music. They also accommodated learning our first dance song (and performed it perfectly!). They were accommodating of a short scheduling timeline and incredibly easy to work with. So happy we chose Goldenwood Ensembles for our wedding ceremony! Their leader/organizer, Krysia, and our cellist, Christina, were both lovely & so easy to work with! We got married in the State of Maine room at Portland City Hall, and they knew the space well. Krysia sent a lengthy repertoire list well in advance that I picked songs from. They were able to accommodate a specific choice that wasn't on there, too. Christina showed up early with everything she needed, and took a few moments to hum out the beats of my processional to make sure we were on the same page! My parents had found and recommended Glenwood Ensembles for our ceremony and cocktail hour. They suggested that it could make for a more intimate and better flow of events, man were they right.
I remember stepping out onto the rainy covered porch and hearing Gary's Guitar playing Adele, You Make Me Feel My Love. That moment of hearing his guitar and looking out into the crowd under the tent in the rain remain one of my favorites.
They are reasonable in price for the talent they produce. I would say the best in the area for live ceremony music / cocktail hour music prices.
Accommodating the weather with the instrumentals and the specific music we wanted, Gary and team we would recommend 10/10. Its the perfect touch to make your wedding day that much better.Goldenwood Ensembles's reply:

I still can’t believe how lucky I was to walk down the aisle to my favorite piece from Cavalleria Rusticana and live out my wedding day surrounded by such beautiful music. This trio made my special day full and complete. Being a musician myself they picked great pieces, had a great sound, and were great to work with!
So easy to work with, especially coming from out of state. They were professional and had a wonderful, sound. The song selection were great, being a musician myself…. We hired a trio (flute, cello, violin) for our wedding at Pemaquid Point. My husband is a musician himself, and the ensemble was very accommodating of our preferences. We exchanged a number of emails and calls in order to draft a detailed playlist. They followed it perfectly and were extremely professional in their manner and dress. Incredible Musicians
We had a trio of two violins and a cello at our wedding reception at DiMillo's on the Water. They were amazing - a perfect accompaniment to our evening. We wanted a cocktail party to encourage guests to talk and get to know one another. The music was the exact right sound level for that. And really they just sounded incredible. The scheduling was simple, the communication excellent, and the price point very reasonable. I highly recommend Goldenwood Ensembles.Goldenwood Ensembles's reply:

We hired Goldenwood Ensembles to play our wedding. Working with them was organized, prompt, and very professional. They were able to play both classical pieces for the ceremony and fiddle tunes for cocktail hour. The music was absolutely divine and I would hire these musicians again in a heartbeat. We worked with Goldenwood Ensembles for our Sept 2019 wedding. They played the flute and harp for our ceremony... it truly was one of our favorite parts of our day. It added such a unique aspect! Not only was the music itself beautifully done, but the planning process with Krysia was so stress-free. She helped us with suggestions, and was extremely communicative.
